I was just a boy of eight when my father was chosen to serve. By then Galathea was just a distant memory for all but the oldest helmsmen. I couldn't understand at the time why he didn't try to fight his conscription. From what I had heard of the Imperial Guard it was a death sentence. Fighting beside the scum of the ship's underbelly was beyond imagining, giving your life for them because their ancestors lived on the same dirt as we did? What little I knew then.

I didn't see him in the weeks leading up to his deployment. I didn't see anything but my bunk and my mother's shadow when she put dinner beside me. I wasn't going to watch my father leave me for some damned corner of the sector to fight Emperor knows what.

I knew the day he was leaving for good came when my mother wouldn't stop sobbing. I heard them mumble their goodbyes before the heavy boot steps came to my bed. I hid under the covers like the void itself was reaching for me.

"James..." he said as he put his hand over the bed sheets, and I managed to peek out at him. Already dressed in the brown and blue, ready for service.

"I'm not expecting you to know why I'm going. We've been doing this for a long time now. Our family, our world. It's a price that has to be paid."

His watery eyes stare into mine.

"And the Emperor protects."

He put his left hand through my hair, and with the right took a seal off his flak armour and laid it on my bed. I tried to squeak out a reply, but before I mustered the courage he stood up and left our room. As you can imagine I never saw him again.

I grew up with that memory being replayed over and over in my head. His voice was fearless. He never doubted that what he was chosen for was just and holy. Now it's my turn to pay the tithe. My turn to smite the Emperor's many enemies as I know my father once did. I will serve the memory of my world. I will serve the 55th.

Cause my thinking is while the Galatheans really hate the Eldar, the pointy eared space elves don't really pay much attention to a single guard regiment.

If it rolls Imperium forces we can always fluff it out as Galatheans.

Speaking of - I doubt that they're very discriminating in their elfhate - they likely make no real distinctions between Craftworld, Dark and Exodite

Infantry based, specializing in ranged combat.
Unorthodox: Serve the Emperor in ways frowned upon by most in the Administratum.
Specialized lasgun pattern.

Let me get this straight:
There's an IG regiment fighting Eldar to get their planet back. The Eldar are holding them back while also fighting off a Tau Cadre full of Galg with the help of a Kabal of Dark Eldar they're rusing. Also there are Orks here cuz they heard there was fightin' and the one Space Marine Chapter assigned to this clusterfuck got mindfucked by Tzeentch then bulletfucked by the Warboss, and there also might be Tyranids nearby.
Did I miss anything?
>>
>>39401896
The Dark eldar have some kind of hideaway, the webway in this area is fucked and the eldar have been fucking with the tau here since the first sphere expansion.
>>
Summary of the Clusterfuck of events:

>Galathea is a peaceful Imperial world with a forgotten secret
>In reality it was seeded eons ago by the Eldar to possibly inhabit it in the future
>A warp disturbance as formed close to the planet's system so they keep an eye on it but decide to not interfere
>Humans do not dare to colonize the warp afflicted system and just keep some precaution in case something weird happens
>A Tau Cadre that in the past had many wars with the Eldar discovers the system and learns that it is tainted
>As they are an ignorant and curious race they decide to settle a big colony in there formed by mostly xenos race to see how the Warp affects them.
>The colony of course doesn't knows about this and they happily build their cities.
>The Eldar discover about the colony's true nature and decides to intervene before it becomes a daemon infested hellhole
>As that Cadre is already ware of their Craftworld the Eldar decide to spend most of their belongings in contracting the Dark Eldar.
(1/2)
>>
>>39402001
>The Dark Eldar do not dare to enter the warp affected area no matter how much they are paid so they attack the closest colonized planet instead, the Imperial Galathea.
>As they descend into the world they start killing and burning everything in their way to make as much noise as possible and get the Tau's attention.
>It works and the Tau Cadre soon sees the destruction as a chance to launch propaganda and try to get as many refugees and exiles as possible.
>Many Eldar breathe relieved as more and more Cadre troops leave the tainted area...the warp menace seems to be over but now there is one in realspace.
>A fleet of Imperial Cruisers and ships exits the warp to assist Galathea
>Soon it develops into a true space battle as the Deldar and Imperial ships battle above the still burning planet.
>The Dark Eldar start to lose the war and ask for help to the Eldar
>The Eldar respond that they were already paid and that their contract is thus ended, they won't receive help
>In a cruel ironic tactic the Dark Eldar use a technological shockwave that reveal the positions of the Eldar spaceships
>Soon after that the Tau army arrives and it develops into a total war between four factions while the planet's population continues dying on the surface
>A small ork klan notices the battle on their Krump-O-Meter and decide to join too.
>But all those people are nothing but puppets.
>In reality it was all planned by a Tzeentchtian warband that created the warp disturbance and whispered into the minds of the gue'vesa leaders to convince their Ethereal leaders of building a colony in there.

>As the bodycount reaches the millions the warp disturbance suddenly disappears, with it gone the great Hive fleet can finally advance
>On its path a weakened army composed by multitudes of DNAs to absorb
>The Hive fleet changes its path and diverts towards them with catastrophic results
>The leader of the Warband is ascended to Daemon Princehood as diverting the fleet has caused great chaos and joy to Tzeentch and it has also avoided them to be devoured by the Tyranid menace.
>Just as planned....

Aren't Tau basically immune to telepathic warpfuckery though?
>>
>>39402029
You forgot how the chaos guys did all this just to screw over the orks who krumped them sometime ago

No one is immune to something that twists the very fabric of reality.

Yup, that's why they sent xenos races and other mercenaries.

>>39402125
You are right, eh they probs manipulated them to get info of the developing space fight.

Oh, I misread "gue'vesa" and thought it was referring to Tau for some reason. Derp.

The thread is in autosage. Should we try to make the Tyranid fleet or just archive it?
>>
>>39402201
I say Archive it.

We did good work today, we can homebrew the 'Nids later.
>>
What if we also decide the chaos warband's colors?

2 people roll 3d160

I deliberately rolled up a human regiment. I got that they were noble-born who repeatedly fight off Orks, then rolled those Orks up. I got two more groups of orks. So I rolled those up. One of them was fine with a bunch of Chaos dudes out of nowhere and often fought 'nids, the other was fine with the first bunch of orks but often fought humans. So I rolled the Chaos dudes up. They ended up being the mortal enemies of a loyalist chapter, and made their base in a warp storm. The 'nids ended up commonly nomming on Eldar, but I rolled the loyalists up first. They ended up being an Ultrasmurfs successor with utterly unique tactics and no techmarines who fought in CQC almost to the exclusion of everything else. They also had allies in the shape of the Adeptus Astra Telepathica, and hated the Chaos dudes. I the rolled the Eldar up, and they turned out to be manipulating the Imperial militia on the planet for some reason, and also had a grudge against some Necrons for some reason. The Necrons then ended up being... kinda boring. Focus on guiding the galaxy through the turmoil and kidnapping humans to turn into more Necrons.

That's the magic of 40k. The factions are like the members of a family on Christmas, they cannot avoid meeting but hate it and there's always some fighting involved.
>>

But there were 9 damn factions!

Lemme see.

The human militia were fighting off three different bands of Orks, being kidnapped by the Necrons and being manipulated by the Eldar.
The first band of Orks had good relationships with another band but hated a third.
The second band of Orks had good relationships with the first band but repeatedly raided the humans.
The third band of Orks were leaving a Chaos warband alone, because they liked to sneak into the chaotic camps and nick their stuff, but went on frequent bug-hunts, because they have nice teef.
The Chaos dudes were basically ignoring everyone, only there because their warp storm happened to be in the area.
The Eldar were there because they were manipulating the humans and hating on the Necrons who happened to be there.
The marines were there to purge the chaos dudes.
The 'nids were there because nids.
In the meantime, the Necrons are looking at all this and going "why are we trying to help these children again?"

Was there a winner at the end?
>>
>>39402985
I didn't bother to work it out, but probably the nids. Their goal was actually exploration, so they would be going "oh, hey, nice diversity of biomass and body features" and then head on. The only reason the Orks were able to go on so many bug hunts was because the 'nid hive fleet happened to be, you know, an actual full-blown hive fleet, so it was taking a while to leave the system.
