> MEANWHILE, ON THE JUSTICE LEAGUE INTERNATIONAL WATCHTOWER…

“… we regret to inform you that your request to retire from Sector 2814 and rotate to a tour of duty on Oa has been… denied.”

Jeez, GL looked real cheesed off. You’ve never seen him so mad like that, not since that time he caught you messing around on the farm with Auntie Kara. You cross your arms, leaning on one of the consoles in the main control room of the Watchtower. GL was hashing things out with the blue crew back on Oa, the little brainiacs that ran the Green Lantern Corps. You’ve never seen them before, they were like little cartoon Einsteins except… well, meaner looking. In the background of their council you could see the other GL of Sector 2814, Guy Gardner.

Your GL was Hal Jordan.

“This isn’t right,” says GL. “The fissures that have appeared on Oa are nothing like we’ve seen before. You know it, Sinestro knows it too.”

“The Sinestro Corps has not been sighted in weeks.” The Guardian turns to you. “Connor there, knows quite well as to why they have not been sighted in weeks.” GL turns to you, a look of pure frustration on him. You simply hold up your hands defensively. Not your fault Sinestro opened up a time-dimensional rift to try and destroy you and he “accidentally” fell in.

“Even so-“

“No debates, Hal Jordan.” The Guardians sternly look down on him. “We have made our decision.”

You sigh. Better try and salvage this. Dad would never forgive you if you just let GL hang in the wind. “Uh, listen…” You smile up at them. “Guys. I know you’re all really uh… anal about the details and everything.” Okay, looking at their expressions now, anal was not the word you wanted. “… but hey, maybe Guy would be willing to trade.”

You can’t believe you just said that.

[2/2]

Guy Gardner smirks, clutching the lapel of his jacket. “Ya know, I am kinda missin’ Earth right now. Would be nice to get back there.” The lead Guardian glares a hole right through him, silencing him.

“The Green Lantern Corps…” The Guardian looks back at you. “… is a military institution dedicated to the protection of the Universe. We are not a sports team where we can trade willy-nilly. Things are because we deem them so. These fissures that have appeared on Oa are being investigated now and-“ The signal starts getting choppy. “- aaand we-“

GL looks at one of the Watchtower crewmen. “What’s happening?”

“We’re losing the signal!” says the crewman.

And right after that, the signal cuts off completely.

GL narrows his eyes, staring at the screen, now completely black.

… you whistle quietly. Oooookay, maybe a bad time to ask for a little bit of leave.

> Eh, never a bad time, Hal’ll will understand.
> Silently retreat out of the control room. Maybe someone needs you elsewhere.

You smirk a bit. “So… Hal.” He turns to you, his eyes completely indecipherable beneath that tiny mask of his. Something you learned about Hal Jordan when Dad brought you onto the Watchtower, Hal’s kinda thinks it’s the 40s. You think it’s kind of endearing actually. Still, he’s a little closeminded about things. Reliable, just… he’s that cop that insists on giving you a ticket when all you’ve done is go two over the speed over the limit. “You know, I was wondering if maybe…”

He crosses his arms, quirking his brow. “… maybe?”

“… maybe you’d be willing to let me take some time off?” you ask. “I mean, the Big Seven are out working things over on Ranx with Chaselon. And you know…”

He shakes his head. “Sorry, kid. I need everybody on call. Everybody from you, to Sandy, to Miss Martian, and even Risk. You never know when these fissures might pop up on Earth.” He motions for you to walk with him to the door. As you begin the march, he continues. “Not just that, but Vandal Savage has been reported testing things, we don’t know where.”

[1/2]

[2/2]

“Well, that’s something for you, right?” you ask. Hal squints at you. “I mean, you and Vandal go waaaay back. Well, he does, but you do too.”

“Just because he’s my nemesis doesn’t make him special.” He taps a button by the door. The door slides open for you, showing you the lift. “Listen, go to Sandman. I want you to check up on him. He’s been acting a little… strange, these past few days.”

“Strange?” you cross your arms. “How strange?”

“He’s been cooped up in his room,” says Hal. “Even cut cameras in there. No audio either.” He shrugs. “Not sure what’s going on, but I have to watch over things up here. If you could get to that, it’d be a real help.”

“But-“

“You’ll get your break in time,” says Hal. “Now get to it, kid.” You step into the lift, and the door shuts right in front of you.

You gently knock your head on the door. Ugh, great. Even Hal of all people keeps calling you kid.

You knock on the door to Sandman’s room aboard the Watchtower. “Sandman!” Gotta make sure not to leave dents. There’s a pause after you knock. Nothing. “Mister Dodds!” You knock again. You can’t do it louder or else you’ll dent the door.

Great, nothing.

“Conner!” Your ears perk up. Is that Tula? Aquagirl? You turn around, yep, there she is. “What are you doing here? I thought Hal would have you chasing down Vandal.”

You shrug. “He sent me to check up on Sandman.” You look down Tula. Hm, new swimsuit today. Very formhugging yellow, nice spray of blue on the side too. She smiles up at you, happily brushing her red hair back as well. “Door’s locked though and I uh… don’t wanna break his door or anything.”

Tula smirks. “Yeah, I bet that’d really get under the old guy’s skin.” If there’s anything Mister Dodds’ hates, it’s being reminded of how ancient he is. From Justice Society to Justice League International, nearly a century of constant active duty crime fighting. You have to say, for an old geezer, he’s determined. Even Batman kinda seems lame in comparison to him. Batman has money and connections. All Mister Dodds has is some gas and his wits. “Say, you want to take a swim or something?”

You cough. A swim? “A swim?” A swim? On the Watchtower?”

She nods. “Uh… yeah, a swim. I hear you’re not good at swimming.”

“Well, yeah. You know. Son of Superman? Powers of flight? Doesn’t need to breathe in space?”

Tula crosses her arms. “Is that really what Superman would think?”

… gah she’s got you there.

You sigh. “Alright, alright. You got me.” You cross your arms, taking another look at the door. “I suppose we can leave it for now. Maybe Mister Dodds is sleeping or something.” You wouldn’t blame him. Nonstop crime fighting for a century, you’d sleep like the dead too. “But I’m telling you, I don’t need to know how to swim.”

“I’m sure Superman would disagree.” Tula quickly takes your hand and starts pulling. But she is stopped completely by the reminder that you are in fact Superboy and you’re not easily dragged to places. “Aw, come on! Let’s go!” She tugs on your arms, grunting and wheezing in frustration. You haven’t moved an inch. “Stop being such a goon!”

“Alright.” You step forward, and she immediately trips and falls flat on her face.

“I hate you, so much.”

It’s as you said, you don’t really need to know how to swim. All you can really do is float as if you were just flying in the air. Of course, you were giving Tula the benefit of a doubt, and you were making a few laps around the Watchtower’s pool. Tula herself meanwhile sat the edge of the pool, watching you do your laps. “One more,” she says.

You roll your eyes, pushing yourself further through the water. Just another lap and you’ll be through.

“Hey, Stargirl!” You blink, about to pull yourself up. “Nope, you keep swimming.” Ugh. You shake your head, continuing on.

Honestly, nobody gives you any respect. You’re not mad about it, you just really wish people would stop judging you by Dad’s perspective. “Would Superman do this?” “Would Superman do that?” Mind you, it really would be cool to be like him, it’s just… there has to be other ways than learning how to swim.

Ugh, whatever.

[1/2]

You manage to finish your lap, resting by the edge of the pool with Tula. You look up to see Stargirl, in a very lovely stars and stripes bikini. Only a sophomore in High school and yet… “Hey, Conner. Eyes up here.” She snaps her finger, pointing up to her eyes.

You grunt. “Yeah, yeah… what are you doing here, Stargirl?”

“Just came for a quick bath then it’s down to Earth. Hal’s having me and Pat check something out in the Arctic, where the old Fortress of Solitude is. Something about Vandal Savage.”

“You still call Pat by his first name?” asks Tula.

“Well, duh.” Stargirl rolls her eyes. Tula frowns at that.

You smirk at Stargirl. Maybe this might be a good way to sneak off, get some time alone, rest and relax. Hell, ever since Superman abandoned the Fortress, things have always been a bit frigid down there. You could always distract yourself by cleaning the place up a bit. You might even get to impress him with your cleaning! Now wouldn’t that be fun. “Got room for me?”

“Sorry, Supes.” You frown. Stargirl turns on her heel, sauntering off. “Just me and Pat. Hal wants to keep as many people on watch in case of trouble.”

You sigh, sinking your nose into the water and blowing bubbles up. Great.

Tula leans back. “Aw, you mad?”

You pop up. “A little.” You grab the edge of the pool and pull yourself up. Tula blinks, her eyes flitting up and down your body. “Listen, I know it might seem a little selfish but I’ve been dying to get off of this Watchtower. Nobody ever calls for Superboy. I mean, Dick’s back in Gotham, Cassie’s taking care of things in Cuba, and…” You slouch, frowning. “I just… I just kinda wish someone would ask my help for something.”

Tula nods, a light pink to her cheeks. “Yeah… yeah.” She coughs a little, looking away. “Look, Superboy. You shouldn’t worry alright? If anything, be happy!” She stands up, looking up at you. “World’s normal! Everything’s okay!”

“Yeah…” You squint. “Too okay.” You shake your head.

Tula points to the pool. “Come on, another lap or two? I’ll time you!”

Whatever, doors are nothing compared to the power of the Force! Haha! Ha… nobody will ever get that joke. You simply give the door a piece of your mind, and slide it across. It slowly wills itself to the side, revealing nothing but empty blackness inside. “Mister Dodds!” you shout.

No response.

You shake your head, stepping inside. “Mister Dodds.” The only thing you can see from the light in the hallway is his desk. And on his desk were papers, splattered with black markings, nothing but black spots. Almost like Treasure Island you suppose. You pick one up, looking over it. Black, black, black…

Hm, might as well turn the lights on. You flick the light switch.

The entire room is splattered with black markings, black cloudy markings all over the walls, the floors, the ceilings. On his bed, Mister Dodds hugs himself, his eyes bloodshot, twitching and writhing. “Oh my God!” you shout. You kneel down to him, holding his hand. “Mister Dodds!”

“Can’t take it, can’t take it, make it stop, make it stop, please make it stop, make it stop, I can’t take it…” He’s muttering on about something, what is he talking about!? You stand up, looking around.

“So what happened?”

The medic is just a fine young nurse, keeping check of Mister Dodds as you sit in the infirmary with him. She scans him with her PDA, narrowing her eyes. “Hm. No foreign objects, nothing to really report. But his neural activity is off.” She crosses her arms, frowning. “Other than that, he’ll be fine once he gets some sleep. We’ll give him some pills, then have him rest up.”

You hear a door sliding open. “Report.” Hal Jordan, business as usual.

“I found Mister Dodds like this,” you say. Hal comes over, tilting his head, looking glumly at the crazed and deluded Mister Dodds. “He keeps saying that he can’t take it.”

“Sounds like one of his visions gone wrong,” says Hal. He rubs his nose, sighing. “This is what happens when you get old.” His Power Ring beeps, and he quickly holds it up to his face. “Hal Jordan, report.”

“Hal, it’s Stargirl!” Stars and STRIPE? What are they doing? “We’re just outside the old Fortress! You were right, it looks like Vandal’s set up some kind of base here!”

“How big?” asks Hal.

“Uh… lotta guys. Pat doesn’t want me going in there, he wants someone else to do it.” Hal looks over at you.

“I don’t know,” says Hal. “But we’ll find out soon.” He places his hand on your shoulder. “Just make sure you take Vandal alive.”

“You think I’m just gonna kill him?” What does he take you for? Some chrome-age Magog clone? “You know me better than that, Hal. Hell, you know my Dad better than that.”

“Look.” Hal pauses, placing his hand on his hip. “I just want to make sure things go cleanly and quietly down there. You know how Superman’s been since we had to abandon the Fortress. There’s a lot of things down there sentimental to him. Might not be to you, but to him, they’re everything.”

“I know, I know…” Dad always did tell you a lot about that statue of Grandma and Grandpa. “Look, I’ll just-“

“Leave the Hypertime jacket here,” declares Hal. “And just to make sure, I’ll send down some back up.”

You blink. “Well… who’s available? Tula uh… Miss Martian?”

“Tula just got a call from Singapore, Miss Martian is handling things with her uncle,” says Hal. “Your backup will be Freddy Freeman.” Oh God no. No. Nope. Nope. Not him, anybody but him. “Something wrong?”

Of all the people in this world you’d take the Ten-Eyed Man over him. “Why him!?”

At least not like Guy.” Oh you’d take Guy over Freddy, for the love of God! “Look, just try and get to know him, alright? This should be a simple smash and burn. Hopefully you’ll get Vandal too. Make sure you don’t break anything.”

“But-“ Hal is already leaving before you can say anything. Well this is just something! Stuck with Captain Marvel Jr. for a sidekick! Well, at least-

“Shazam!” Please no. You feel his giant muscular blue arm wrap around you and take you into the manliest hug you’ve ever felt. “Conner! Yeah, funny thing about Batman and Robin, they kinda split a few months ago.

“Actually, Freddy.” He quirks his brow. “We’re not fighting those two. It’s Vandal Savage. We’re just going to see if we can arrest him, see what he knows. You know, that sort of stuff.”

“Oh, I see.” He pats your chest, nodding. “Well, bro, regardless of the situation, we’ll be there to fight! The boy of steel and the magical kid! The two of us, the unbreakable pair!” You sigh, smirking. You gotta admit, his optimism is a little contagious.

The arctic is freaking cold, you forgot about that. You’ve landed the Javelin some distance away from the Fortress. And given about an hour, you’ve regrouped with Stargirl and STRIPE by the warmth of its engines. “Stargirl, STRIPE, nice to see you two!” says Freddy.

Stargirl grins. Apparently she’s the only person on the Watchtower or anywhere happy to see him. “Freddy!” She immediately runs over and gives him a tight hug. “Oh my God, it’s so good to see you!” She steps away, back into the hand of STRIPE. “Are you two our back up?”

“Yeah,” says you. “Hal wants us to raid the Fortress, capture Savage if at all possible.”

STRIPE nods. “Righto.” His grizzly voice resonates from beneath his massive powered suit. “Y’all are gonna stay by me. There’s a lotta bots down there, so we’ll need Stargirl to work crowd control while you and Freddy muscle your way in.”

>>39432660
He read a comic book!

works of Fiction are actually messages in a bottle from other universes. Every story exists in another world. Imagination, the fifth dimension beyond physical space and time, is the medium of the multiverse. Those of us who dream of new stories are channeling the events of other worlds. Comics, books, movies, plays, operas, epic songs, fanfiction, and even what we do here together are glimpses of other places across unimaginable distances. Good Luthor read a comic book...and- wait. Fucking wait, I think I know what's going on, not just here...if here is even involved
>>
>>39432820
forgot to add, that in DC comic worlds, comic books ARE messages in a bottle/windows to other realities in the multiverse. Captain Carrot (bugs bunny style superman from a cartoon earth) has always suspected this, which is why he likes happy endings.

> “Sounds like a plan.”

“Sounds like a plan, STRIPE. Lead the way.” He swiftly turns around, stomping off, the gears in his power armor whirring loudly. You can see why he didn’t opt for some sort of stealthy solution, a deaf guy could hear him from Kansas.

You hold your head, groaning.

> LOAD<ADW—

“Something wrong?” asks Stargirl.

You shrug. “Just another migraine.” Ugh, ever since Dad pulled you from the cloning pod, these migraines just come and go. This one is manageable at least. At least it doesn’t feel like the cybernetics in your head are melting and cooking your brain like a roast turkey. Those are the worst.

This just felt more like getting plunked by a baseball.

Freddy slaps your shoulder, grinning. “That’s the spirit, Conner! Pain is just weakness leaving the body!” He runs ahead to STRIPE. “Come on, we got some bad guys and they ain’t gonna wait up for us!” Ugh, your head.

Stargirl holds your arm, helping you walk. “Come on, tough guy, just fight through the pain.”

> LOADING…

> LOADING…

At the huge doors leading up to the Fortress, STRIPE arms the rockets in his arms. “Alright. Get ready.” He pulls a boxy device off of his belt and slaps it on the door. You all step back. Breaching charges built by the legendary Pat Dugan are nothing to scoff at, even for you.

Freddy steps in front of you, a smug grin on his face. “Time to learn a little from the best, Conner!”

You crack your knuckles, loudly. “This ain’t a competition, Freddy.” Not a competition at all.

The charge explodes. Sorry, Dad. At least those doors were only made of ice and not anything rare. You and Freddy charge in. The shock stuns all those spindly, skinny, SavageBots. That meant you had free reign over all of them. And since they were robots, no need to hold back.

“Whooo!” Freddy headbutts one to pieces, then grabs another and swings it. He bats other SavageBats away like some sort of baseball player. “How about that!?”

Okay, you have to admit, that’s pretty cool.

And you should’ve thought that! You grab another SavageBot, then smash it against another. Parts and metal scraps are flying as you and Freddy smash up the entire army. Even when STRIPE and Stargirl get in, you’re already most of the way through the huge horde of robots.

“Ha!” Freddy claps his hands together, smashing a Bot to bits. “No chance! No chance at all!” He thumps his chest like King Kong as you mop up the remainder. “Where’s Savage!?”

“That’s what we’re going to find out,” says STRIPE. “We’ll split up so we can cover more ground. Superboy, you’ve been here before so lead up. Got it?”

“Got it!”

He grunts, stepping besides you. “Fine.” He points to Stargirl. “Courtney, go with Freddy. Freddy.” Freddy blinks, surprised. “If my daughter gets hurt-“

“Yeah, yeah,” says Freddy. “You’ll kill me.”

“Oh, no.” STRIPE shakes his head. “I’m not going to kill you. That’d be merciful.” He slaps your shoulder, motioning you onwards. “Let’s go. Lead the way.” You look back to see a very nervous Freddy go along with an eager Stargirl. Oh, you do not envy his position right now, no siree.

> L0AD1NG…

You groan, holding your head. “Can we stop for a second?” You don’t want to sound like you’re whining, but you’re probably whining. STRIPE nods, letting you sit down and catch yourself on a wall. “Aagh…”

“Are you okay?” He bends over, hitting a button on his wrist computer. “Do you need some meds or something?”

“No, no, I just need a minute!” you say, louder. He nods, stepping away. Your head feels like its tearing itself apart. Ugh, migraines, migraines, migraines.

STRIPE crosses his arms. “You know. I know Superman tried to get those wonky cybernetics out of your brain. I know you don’t like them but we couldn’t find a way to remove them without them killing you.”

“Yeah, yeah, Dad told me everything…” You sigh, leaning against the wall. “Goddamn it. I mean…” You hold your head, rubbing your palms along your scalp. “Just hurts. It feels like the closer we’re getting to Savage, the more it hurts!”

“Yeah, I’ve been getting some weird interference,” says STRIPE. “Strange.” After a few minutes, he bends over to you. “Feeling okay now?”

You nod. He offers his hand, which you take. With a swift pull up, you’re back to work in no time. You and STRIPE keep jogging down the halls of the Fortress of Solitude.

> “I think I heard something.”

“I thought I heard something.” You point to one of the walls. You and STRIPE press your ears against the wall.

“… and you have found no compatible Green Lanterns to speak of?” That is definitely Vandal Savage’s voice. You’d recognize that booming immortal baritone anywhere. Good news is, if he ever wants to stop being a villain, he could definitely go into choir. “For shame, for shame.”

There’s a curious squeaking, squawking, chittering on the other side as well. Whatever it is, it almost sounds like it’s talking.

“Yes, I’m aware that invasion of Oa has resulted in resounding success. However, I must say that this wanton destruction of this dimensional plane is quite… detestable. I suppose that’s sunk cost. But the next stage of the operation, the destruction of the Watchtower is underway. Very soon we shall hear news of the destruction of Justice League International and acquire the Hypertime Jacket for ourselves.”

You and STRIPE remain silent. But judging by how still STRIPE is, you can gather he does not like this particular revelation. He steps back from the wall, then immediately taps his finger to the ear. “STRIPE to Watchtower, come in.” Static. “Damn it!” He flails around, trying to figure out what to do. “...”

“STRIPE. We have to go back to the Watchtower-“

“No, you have to,” he declares. “Me, Stargirl, and Freddy will stay here and apprehend Savage. This is our only chance, our best chance.” You blink, stepping back. “You have to go warn Hal, make sure the Hypertime Jacket doesn’t fall into their hands. You understand me?”

You nod. “I understand, Pat. I’ll do it.”

He grabs your shoulder, flipping the visor out of his helmet, looking at you directly with his own eyes. “Listen. If the JLI is gone, if the Watchtower is gone. I want you to run. Okay? You’re not Superman. You’re Conner Kent, Kon-El, you’re not going to risk your life out there. You just run, and don’t look back, okay?” You nod quickly, biting the inside of your cheeks. “Go.”

You turn around and speed down the hallway.

You rush through the dark halls of the Watchtower. The loud klaxons are your only company as you run through. To your right, the window shows off the tears in reality, ripping through the stars and opening up wide open rifts into your world. Whatever is going on here is now good, not good at all. Right now you need to find someone to help you, someone to consolidate with. Most of the Javelins are gone, which means hopefully the non-powered Watchtower crew are gone. But who knows how many heroes are still aboard?

Your train of thought is derailed by the arrival of those monsters. They bust through the ceiling, squeaking like mice and chittering. “It’s the Superboy!” one of them yells. “Get him!”

You raise your fists. As the Spartans once said, Molon labe.

“Conner! Duck!” You drop down to the ground without another word. One of those monsters is hit by a gas canister, knocking him over. The other monsters look down at it, then are engulfed by the burst of gas. In seconds, they sway dizzily, then fall over, KO’d.

You look up to see Mister Dodds, in his trenchcoat over his hospital gown. He quickly loads in another canister into his gasgun. “Mister Dodds!” you shout. That wrinkly old geezer just saved you some trouble! “Are you okay!?”

He wheezes, hacking and coughing. “I’m fine!” He grips his head, gnashing his teeth. “I may be down, but I’m not out!” he yells. “Me and Hal stayed behind to give the others time to escape!”

“Well, where’s Hal!?”

“Watchtower Command,” he growls. “But that was hours ago.” He places his sickly hand on your shoulder. “You gotta get outta here, Conner. This ain’t something we’ve fought before!”

“Not without the Hypertime Jacket.” You grab the old man’s shoulders. “Mister Dodds, they’re after the Jacket.”

“Then you have to get it out of here!” he says. “Come on, to the Vault!” You pick up Mister Dodds in your arms, and start running. If Vandal Savage got his hands on that jacket, who knows what kind of chaos he could create. Personally speaking, you’ve never used the Jacket for its intended purpose of crossing dimensions, but that’s because Dad wanted to keep a close eye on you. Now though…

God, you hope Dad is alright.

“Hurry!” yells Mister Dodds. The Vault is well protected, but nothing is stopping those rifts from opening inside the Vault itself. You decide to heck with the protection of course. You smash through the first Vault Door, several inches of steel, enough to stop even the most dedicated non-super. Without stopping, you smash through the next Vault Door, almost a foot of steel intermixed with other stronger materials. The turrets all pop up, but you’re way too fast for them to track you.

Finally, you’re inside the Vault. Artifacts of the JLI, from Jay Garrick’s original Helmet, to Alan Scott’s original Ring, to the original Cosmic Staff that belonged to the Star Spangled Kid, and more.

And including the Hypertime Jacket, on a pedestal in the center of the room. You set Mister Dodds down and quickly pull the Jacket out of its protective forcefield. Now that you think about it, you really busted through that security easily. No wonder people are scared of supers. You pull the jacket on quickly, then zip it up.

“Mister Dodds!” you call. “Take my hand, I’m taking you with me!”

“No, no, son!” he says, slapping your hand away. “I’m pushing a hundred and look at me now!” He kneels over, his frail body barely looking like its holding together. “You’re the Son of Steel. I’d only slow you down. You have to do this alone.”

“B- but…” You kneel down next to him. “I can’t! I… I need you, Mister Dodds! I mean, I left Pat back on Earth, Stargirl too, and Freddy too! I can’t!” You grab him by the shoulders. “I’ll drag you through with me if I have to.”

Mister Dodds squints. “Get your hands off me, son.” Slowly, you take your hands off him. He takes your hand at the last minute, clasping it with both his hands. “Conner. Our world is doomed. But it can be saved.” He taps your heart, nodding. “It starts with you.”

You hear the air explode, and a rift slices open in the air by the breach you made into the Vault. “Go!” he yells.

No words
Only tears
>>

No, there's no crying until the end.

But this is the end

That old bastard's been up for a long time. He's not going gently into that goodnight.
>>
Is this quest any good? Should i binge the backlog?
>>
>>39457009
There is no back log. The op put 25 in the title to fuck with us apparently. So far it's decent but I'd like to actually see something happen.
>>
>>39457009
I giggled.
There is no backlog, anon. This came out of the blue and has been running slowly for like four days now. We have a fuck ton of theories, and it looks like we may be about to know which ones are true.

> No time for last words. Go.

You grit your teeth, standing up straight. Your jacket glows with the forceful power of the dimensions beyond. And in just a short second, a portal for you to run into is projected. You start running towards it.

Then you pause.

Mister Dodds has already stood up, and fired a gas canister out of his gun. It pings off one of those monsters, exploding into a crowd. More come down from the walls, their glowing yellow eyes shining down on him. But Mister Dodds was one of the original founders of the Justice Society. And unlike the rest of them, he wasn’t a strongman or a super genius or anything. He was just a guy with a gasmask and a gun that shot gas.

And seeing him go down to all those things was both horrifying and awe-inspiring.

You wipe a tear from your eye. You’ll be back. Yeah, you’ll be back. You’ll be back for Tula, for Megan, for Mister Dodds, Pat, Freddy, Courtney, and Dad. All of them. You will come back.

You shall return.

You jump in.

Your sudden arrival into another dimension was so shocking that you didn’t even realize you were falling until you hit the ground. At least you landed on something soft but… Ugh, your head. You hold your head, groaning. Your veins feel like they’re about to explode, and your skull feels like it’s roasting like a Thanksgiving Turkey.

Darn it, darn it…

What did you even land on? You roll over, still rubbing your head.

Oh.

Oh shit. You landed on a girl.

She lies there, dizzy, her eyes swirling in confusion, nearly crushed underneath your weight. In one hand was some kinda book, actually looked like one of Megan’s weird Japanese comics. Huh. But still, other than the fact that you just crushed this poor girl under your weight, you’re pretty much alright.

Hell, you made it to another dimension!

You stand up, grinning. You survived! You bend down to her, and offer your hand. “Hey, are you alright?”

Her green eyes right themselves, and she immediately looks on you. “… erm uh…” She takes your hand, gently.

And on her hand was a Green Lantern power ring.

She nods, smiling, a gentle blush creeping on her cheeks. “Oui, monsieur.”

oh god I just got the nostalgia chills

As expected. If the speed wasn't abysmal, would read more of this type of quest. But good job for being able to eventually finish it.
>>
>>39457333
That's the Magical Green Lantern girl from that quest I kept seeing around the board in the past isn't it? Congratulations, you've got a new reader.

The ghosts of stars long vanished reach us in the night sky.

A journey has begun, and the last son of a distant star now gone embarks on a journey.

Many walk scattered paths toward the same end. Some have already arrived.

There you are. I didn't think to check the Peter Parker Quest, but that was your code at the end. Also in Eclipsed Moon Quest selecting the interludes, and I completely missed out on Gyoji's metaquest.

I'm falling behind, but not for long. You've got a strong concept, but the execution is a bit lacking so far.

You need to go faster
>>
>>39457599
>>39457428
>>39457425

GS is usually faster than this. And I doubt he'd let his characters be involved if he wasn't.
>>
>>39457788
I know nothing of Gyoji. What's their deal?
>>
>>39457970
He ran a borderline smut quest that he kept chickening out on, then spent a few months not doing anything, came back for a weird one shot called An Unimportant Quest that happened before the bit in PPQ, EMQ, here, and the other thing Artemis is doing right now which seems like a direct continuation of what happened in An Unimportant Quest.
>>
>>39458024
Strange, doesn't really seem the same style as the other participants. Maybe he was all the could get to join?
>>
>>39458024
Also, Cosgrove's Unprecedented Age quest 1 shot happened way before all of this, makes explicit reference to Crisis and that the events within that thread happen outside of time or after a crisis of red skies. Its a bit confusing.
>>
>>39458067
That tripcode in the last post additinally belongs to the Hypercrisis man, who has been posting sporadically for a while now, but stopped in January. Of course, the problem is they seem to be largely inspired by Multiversity, but Ultra Comics itself is really just a comic book telling you to not take comic books and entertainment so seriously and just go outside and shit. Which isn't new, and is at least mildly out-of-touch.
>>
>>39458142
I'm getting a bit of a different message from this so far, or at least all of it which we have so far. Unimportant and Unintended seem to cast the idea that we have a more direct hand in things just by being here. That we can be affected by the media we consume, but maybe we can affect it back?
>>
>>39458522
That is the appeal of Quests. The interactive quality of creating a story, while not having to do the whole thing yourself, and still maintaining a comfortable distance behind a screen, without any faces or names except those we chose to give ourselves.

However, even though that's a pretty good novelty, concept alone only carries you so far.
>>
>>39457599
I've been asleep for months, are you sure I can go fast?
>>
>>39459265
Just keep putting one foot in front of the other and don't slow down. As long as you maintain momentum, you don't need to call down the lightning, you can BE the lightning.
>>
Now I wish this would be crisis had a speedster.
>>
>>39459640
I'm pretty sure everyone does.
>>
>>39459640
So do I. Every Crisis could use a Flash.

Though we don't have a Flash, that She-Dio from Gyoji's quest as well as the end of Peter Parker Quest can serve as a tolerable equivalent to ZOOM.
>>
>>39460115
She's actually the MC from one of Cosgrove's abandoned quests.
>>
>>39459917
>>39459874
>>39460115
I'm not very familiar with Artemis, is he enough of a comic nerd to know he needs a flash to Crisis properly?
>>
>>39460353
Makes sense, though a bit of a letdown. Then again, the bad guys in these kinds of stories so often are. Villainy doesn't really look so majestic when you get backstage. Because when you get down to it, evil is just consistently being a dick in excess.

the MC better not be Superboy Prime....
>>
>>39461026
No, he should still be in the Source wall and this unchanged from temporal events...which means he remembers pre-flashpoint.

Also, I don't think you could cut prime open to put a computer in his brain.

Wait...could he have gotten out when Hal dragged Black Hand to the wall for the corpse war against the New Gods?
>>
>>39461184
So, no prime likely?
>>
>>39461026

It still could be.
>>
So...the bad guys need a "Compatible" Green Lantern.

What do they need a green lantern for?

What else have they been after? The Hypertime Jacket from this quest thread. Anon was on 'the list' in An Unimportant Quest. They got Peter Parker from Peter Parker Quest. They're after something from Eclipsed Moon Quest, but we won't know until that picks up.

Wait if they tore apart one Oa and found no "compatible" green lantern

Is Lumi on the list?
>>
>>39465197
No one cares. If Artemis is involved it's shit.

Should have just run a young justice quest instead of trying to make that crap he runs relevant.
>>
>>39460541
Pay no attention to the men and women behind the curtain?
>>
>>39466693
I'd say he's mediocre at worst. And it seems like he's not the only one who's been pushing this idea.
>>
>>39467627
Yeah, still a fucking terrible idea though. Much easier for me to drop one quest I enjoy than read through four I have little to negative interest in in order to get the context of things that are being forced into it.
>>
>>39457333
oh good, I thought GS abandoned MGLQ for a bit
>>
>>39472927
mhmm, more Lumi. Though now Clarissa is going to go mental if Lumi is crushing on the cute guy from out of town.
>>
>>39475653
"Oh no, Monsieur Superboy. It is terrible that Vandal Savage destroyed your home! We must go to Germany right now and seek recompense and justice!"

"I'm sure your Savage has done stuff worthy of a good old fashion super hero beatdown...but technically it was the Vandal from my Eart- and she's already flying away. Great one, Conner. Just great,"
