Typing initial update now...

Back in the good old days, we'd have posts typed up in advance.
>>
You listen to the reports of the kobolds with mild indifference. The Orcs and Goblins that used to inhabit the area have left for greener pastures, leaving behind their dwellings. The Kobolds have ransacked these areas for more living space - egg season is upon you, and the youths are starting to train alongside the adults, bringing your fighting force up slightly from 10 to 12.

You get the feeling things will be slow-going for the kobolds if you rely on natural population increase. The good news is, though, that they hunt and kill a lot, and by request, the bones are brought directly to you. You've now a sizable collection of boar, bear, deer, and fox bones, which you used to partially spruce up the dungeon a little. A bit of ritual sacrifice to the Dark God, but nothing really world-shattering.

The Core beneath you thrums mightily with power, now wishing to expand.

Two new rooms have opened: The Laboratory, and the Armory.

My, my. A consensus!

The laboratory is where your fondest memories would be had you not lost most of them. It's a series of long tables, magically cooled compartments, dry shelving and bottles for the proper creation of constructed undead, typically referred to as Abominations. And the thoughtful kobolds have even stored the body of the violent maiden in one of the refridgerated compartments! How wonderful.

Abominations are impressive to look upon, scary to fight, but a pain in the pelvis to upkeep - mostly because you're shoving a soul into a skeleton it doesn't like, and despite the magical binding and forcing it to fill all the corners with a patchwork of aspects, it still doesn't have as much skill as if it were born with those extra limbs, eyes, and teeth.

The Lab is also a good place to restore bodies, in case you want to make something more intimidating and permanent than a zombie or a skeleton champion. Here you can create all manner of undead, though you still lack a place to store Souls, Soul bits, and aspects.

Ugh, your head's starting to hurt, might as well check on the armory...
>>
>>39307862
The Armory is a blessing, and it's one of th first rooms you can channel energy from the Core into. It both stores, and can create, weapons and armor for your armies. It can't make anything too complex, like siege equipment, but hey - with a big enough Abomination, who needs a ram, right?

Heh.

All that said, though, you don't have much of an army here to arm. Though you figure that will probably change soon.

You can namefag if you like - but if your roleplaying starts to annoy others, I'll take up the liberty to filter/ignore you. You've been warned!

You select your three best kobolds, and send them to find a graveyard, leaning back with a toothy grin - the only expression you can actually manage. Within the day, they return... a young woman in tow.

"Sacrifice, master!"
"Many dead north of town, master." another chimes in, "Bites-own-tail was nervous!"
"Was not!" the third kobold protests, though his tail bleeds with teeth-marks. "Tallest-tales lies!"
The first to speak sighs, pushing the girl forth. She's quiet, meek, looking at her feet. Why would she be in an alleged graveyard?

Aaaand right away, you can tell she's no virgin, but definitely has the countenance of one. Hm, what to do. What to do~.

You thank the kobolds and send them off as you speak from your throne.

"What is your name, brief mortal?"
"uh... It... Sally."
"Sally. You have been brought here as a sacrifice." you say, enjoying the way her skin pales from the slightly darker tones. "But you've little worth for that. I could turn you into an undead minion, as well... But your soul lacks that vibrant spark of a truly precious soul. So it seems, you are of little use to me, aside from your bones and flesh. You've seen my lair, lead through its traps. You are a danger to me and my workers."

How are we defining virginity for this anyway? Not all women are born with hymens, and they can tear. Is it penis-in-vagina? If someone gives all of the blowjobs and anal that she wants but keeps her vagina clean does that count? What about for lesbians or other queer women?

This will all be very important later...

6/5/2 in moderate favor of letting her live.

"Well..." you ponder. THe kobolds, while good living workforce, aren't... all that intelligent, just crafty. Whereas here you have a malleable human mind. "Pledge yourself to either the Dark One or myself, and you will live. Our only dwellings are for kobolds, however, and the meals are similar. "You can either learn necromancy under me, or... You can become my dark priestess."

Your champion's eyes flare, but he remains silent.

"Choose. Choose one of those, or die."

"Can I not be a spy for you?"

"...That can be arranged." you state. "But I will need to take, well, measures, you see. Methods to prevent a spillage of secrets. And if you may convert others to my side, well... That would be exceptional."

"R-right. And what am I to call you?"

"Well, I could brand you..." you walk around her, feeling your knees lock up painfully, wire pushing INTO a bone and it takes all of your mental energy to not fall over. "I could have a kobold follow you and then torture you to death when you betray me..." Oh geeze, you don't like climbing these steps, so many steps to this throne, why did you use stairs, augh, "But I think I shall take a part of your soul, instead." you state. "And if you betray me, I will have that bit put into a skeleton, and it will hunt you down, inerringly, unstoppable. And when it finds you, it will make you wish you were dead. Or I could just use the soul bitr to make you into a living antisoul bomb." you shrug. "There's lots of applications, really." you grumble, because you can't remember more than those, but it's nice and intimidating. "Champion! Bring me a small crystal." you grin as you put the crystal on a golden chain, tapping it. "Now I'll kill you, just a little."

"what" she manages, as a necromantic bold strikes her in the center of her chest, and then you make a chopping motion with your hand. A tiny blue flame lights up in you crystal, and she falls to one knee, choking ans sobbing in pain.

"That is soul torment you're feeling." you state, nodding. "It is, notably, the only real pain that ghosts can feel. It's a lot like pain, yes... But it's impossible to ignore soul toment." you rise. "Now! Swear fealty to me!"

"I... I, Salatia Fullbright, do swear alleigance and fealty to you, Lord Glorious, in all your machinations."
"I recognize your devotion, and name you my Spymaster, Salatia. Should you betray you, may the Dark One have mercy on your soul, for I shall not."

>Information!

The old days are over.

This is the running theme of the information she gives you. Sword and spell have given way to rifle and technology. Magic still exists, here and there, helping the rest along, but it is steam that makes the world turn now, not enchanted fields or worker golems. Adventurers carry licences from nations, and are organized into guilds of mercenary work, no longer small parties, but small armies in the dozens.

She seems to relish the shock you're put in by this as she continues.
Towns are run by mayors, but are owned by nations, and information networks are massive, driven by 'trains'. Orcs, goblins, and other malcontents are pushed into the mountains, the deserts, the craggy, unfarmable lands humans, dwarves, and elves care little for.

She smiles up at you.
"So, what? What are you going to do now?"

The most important piece in this game is the Dungeon Core. We must commune with it and share what we have learned.
>>
Ooh, a plan, a perfect plan already begins forming in my mind. First we will get the Orcs and... do something with them. I forget what it was exactly, but the Orcs are important. Champion! Remind me that the Orcs are important.

so if the dungeon cores are dead, and the monstrous races are held back. what do adventurers adventure then? doesn't seem to be much for them to do

>"Whatever it takes. Lay down for a spell, would you?" (Signal the Champion).
>Something else...
Master? Should we look for other kobold tribes?
>>

I was actually referring to the indignity of both explaining and having performed a blood orgy populated entirely by Kobolds.
Everything else I'm fine with.
>>

I imagine they write tax returns and carry out philanthropic endeavours.
>>
>>39310700
Likely fight each other in wars or just lay about. I don't think they are the same caliber as they use to be.

>Foolish girl, your flimsy mind does not have the capability to understand the machinations of my diabolical intellect. In my absence I find this world to have grown weak, dependent on Dwarven crafts and human convenience, they seem to have forgotten that which binds them all... I shall let them taste the copper smell of maddening fear once more, let them cry out to their gods as their ancestors roam the countryside, cutting off their precious connections. They will soon find their technology will count for nothing when I hurl them back into the sweet embrace in which I once held these lands. The mountains will tremble under my might as the dust of a thousand ages stirs from this dungeon, and the people will whisper my name, as a long lost shadow over their souls: Bob.

Even if it is but a paltry offering, it is still an offering. Ideally we would glut the core on a steady stream of maidens, but I don't think that will be happening anytime soon.

You seem distracted, OP.

>I will prepare, for they will come and fall as they have came and fallen before. Their steam and bullet will only get them so far, in fact it will be their death. They will spend vaults of gold and I will spend mountains, they will cut rivers of blood and I will loose oceans. They will send thousands deaths and I will send millions. Kings could not kill me, nor armies, nor gods, neither will they. I will prepare

"Foolish girl, your flimsy mind does not have the capability to understand the machinations of my diabolical intellect. In my absence I find this world to have grown weak, dependent on Dwarven crafts and fattened on human convenience, they seem to have forgotten that which binds them all... I shall let them taste the copper smell of maddening fear once more, let them cry out to their gods as their ancestors roam the countryside, cutting off their precious connections."
Your walk down the pyramid is met with all the kobolds gathering at its base, though none stand between you and Sally.

Your eyes flare with a 'foomp!' as you begin, kneeling beside her and whispering: "They will soon find their technology will count for nothing, when I hurl them back into the sweet embrace in which I once held these lands."

You rise, raising your staff overhead, and the kobolds begin to raise their weapons in time with your speech. "The mountains will tremble under my might as the dust of a thousand ages stirs from this dungeon, and the people will whisper my name, as a long lost shadow over their souls: Bob The Glorious."

They cheer as you look down at Sally.
"You should rest. It's a long day ahead." you turn, cape and robe fluttering in your wake as you walk back up, finding new energy in your bones, licking at the cracks like a hound at wounds. Yes! YES! You feel so... so alive, as you sit down.

The champion takes Sally away, carefully, and your kobolds return to business as you lean forth, firey eyes looking through steepled fingers.

Now, for long term goals:

>First, we must turn the other demihumans against the Triarch of Human, Elf, and Dwarf. We must find the Orcs and Goblins.

>First, we must expand the Dungeon, study magic, and learn of the land, in order to better cultivate... cults and use their network against them.

>First, we must create an undead army, and work on systematically cutting off towns to make them ours.

We must build our base of operations before we can... wait why are we building a base? Who are you people? Get out of my house. *snore*

>First, we must expand the Dungeon, study magic, and learn of the land, in order to better cultivate... cults and use their network against them.

Forget about the Orcs and Goblins for now, a resurgence in their strength will cause our foes to become overly wary and limit out chance for growth.

For now we must permeate the fabric of society, forming cults and corrupting nobles to our favour.

inb4 we become the cult of Dagon.

We are still too weak to weak to make an over move. Build our base up.

I gotta say it feels good being the bad guy for once, sacrificing maidens, binding souls, amassing a kobold army, and spreading a cult. Everything I could dream of.

Reminds me of a quest from around a year ago: the best BBEG.

We were a slime that invaded people's minds, and wound up taking over a kingdom, and politicking the neighboring evil overlords.

Dear lord, was that the one where we started with that nice family we invaded? Seems things kind of snowballed from there.
>>
>>39311222

we picked kobolds because they are nonthreatening to surface dwellers are great at defense not notable industrious and clever. We should play up our stealth role. In the mid term we could even try to get our kobold minions to integrate as well behaved scut workers in society before we use our growing human cult to rule the land from the shadows.

You nod to yourself.
You must first expand, construst, and work outwords. The Core appreciates this sentiment, and agrees.

You order half your army to expand a new tunnel out of the Orc warrens, and make your way to the library.

>Select a spell to research while you wait for the kobolds to build and your spy to return to town and begin information gathering. You may only know spell names.
