A beach side experience filled to the brim with girls. All of them wearing swimsuits, is this heaven? Just imagine not just Cecilia or Laura wearing a swimsuit but also Charlotte, Houki, Rin, Honne, Yuzu, Sakuya or Shizune. Wait. If your classmates are all wearing swimsuits, then also the teachers Ms Yamada and Ms Orimura would also. Now that would a sight, Ms Yamada's sizable femininity barely held back by a thin piece of cloth and string. The sheer size that you remember holding when you saved her from crashing still has a place in the corner of your mind. And there is the fact Ms Orimura will probably be also wearing a swimsuit. You can't help but give a small smile at such thoughts.

“If these are seaside classes, does that mean I would be able to see you in a swimsuit Yamada-sensei?” you ask with that small smile.

“The classes attending will be able to wear swimsuits at the beach. It's natural that the teachers would follow suit.” Ms Yamada answers before a long pause.

It finally dawns on her who your question was directed towards.

“W-well, of course I would be wearing a swimsuit. As you teacher, I have to lead by example.” Ms Yamada lets out with a slightly flustered tone.

“Sounds like one more thing to look forward to.” you reply still with that small smile.

Ms Yamada pauses for another brief second reacting to what you just said and what you are implying.

“But, we must not. There is an age difference and you are still a student.” Ms Yamada lets out in between her shyness and embarrassment.

“There is nothing to be embarrassed about. You are a sweet and caring teacher. It would be hard not to admire such a person.” you tell her with a reassuring voice.

Ms Yamada adjusts her glasses as she slowly regains her composure. Her face slightly colored in a blush before she stops just in front of Teacher's office door.

“Alright if that is everything, I'll be going.” you reply.

“Smith, there is one thing.” Ms Orimura tells you from her desk.

You quickly turn to look at Ms Orimura sitting at her desk across from Ms Yamada.

“Tell the Class Rep of 1-B, Huang Lingyin, to pick up the Seaside class itinerary tomorrow before class.” Ms Orimura tells you flatly. “You'll be doing the same.” Ms Orimura adds.

“Anything else?” you ask.

“No, you can go.” Ms Orimura waves you off without looking up.

“I'll be taking my leave then.” you reply before you leave Ms Orimura and Ms Yamada to their work.

Once out of the Teacher's offices, you decide what to do next. Cecilia and you have some things to hash out with her support staff. Apparently the sooner you get this done, the better. But you also have to find Rin and tell her about the picking up the itinerary. Now what to do first.

Might as well follow Ms Orimura's instructions and inform Rin. You take out your phone and begin to write a text to Rin. As you are typing it out, you realize something. Your phone doesn't do kanji, katakana or hirigana, just plain English. Thinking about, why hasn't this been a problem until now. Either way, you can just call her. You pick her number from the contact lists and call her. After two rings, the other side picks up.

“Hey John. Feeling so lonely you had to call me?” Rin asks, her smirk is almost audible in her voice.

You just sigh and shake your head.

“No, just had to tell you that Orimura-sensei wants you to pick up the Seaside Class itinerary before class tomorrow.” you answer.

“Oh? Thanks for telling me.” Rin replies. “Guess that is your job as the teacher's pet now.” Rin teases you over the phone.

“And I bet you already you already have a sporty type of swimsuit to wear at the beach. One that suits your tomboyish personality.” you tease back.

“Who are you calling a tomboy?” Rin loudly asks.

“I am calling you a tomboy. It suits you. Just one of your cute, charming points.” you reply with a teasing tone.

Rin starts yelling something at you in Chinese before she stops and switches back to Japanese.

“Idiot. Don't think that will work so easily on me.” Rin angrily tells you.

She says some more words in Chinese before stopping with a sigh.

Regular weapon maintenance is very important for weapons. This has been drilled into you since before you could remember. But an IS is a tad bit more involved than field stripping a rifle. Meaning you need to schedule things in advanced. To that effect, you walk to you IS hangars.

When you reach your hangar, nothing unusual jumps out at you. There is Charlotte's spot for her Rafale Revive near the Maeve's docking point. Most of the tools and gear for maintenance are stowed away as more room is made for some new equipment. You knock on Walken's office to be polite. He waves you in while he talking on the phone. You take a seat and wait until he is done talking. After a couple of minutes, Walken finishes his call and hangs up.

“Do you need help with something John? Advice about Colonel Ashwood or about the maintenance planned for this Saturday or just general advice?” Walken asks you.

“I wanted to make sure about the maintenance being done this Saturday. Besides general maintenance, I get the feeling that I may have to check up and may need to change some things around.” you answer.

“Understandable. You tend to switch around your bus slots when you think you'll be running into trouble. There is also the fact Ms Foss has been wanting to do another battery of tests on you.” Walken replies.

You mentally wince at the mention of Ms Foss wanting to do more tests. Sure, it is required but it doesn't change the fact some of the tests are strange and sometimes too invasive. You're glad she hasn't asked for a specific fluid sample yet.

“We can either get those tests done today and focus on your IS Saturday. Or we can do it all the same day. If we do the physical today, we can get it out of the way and focus on the Maeve. It would make things easier if you decide to change around the bus slots.” Walken adds.

“Since I am here, let's get the physical done.” you tell him.

“Good. That will make things easier for us. Head to the examination room while I call Ms Foss.” Walken replies before he picks up his phone.

You get up and leave Walken's office. The examination room is just across the hallway. Inside are a bunch of typical medical machines you've seen before. Taking a seat on the medical bed, you wait for Ms Foss to come. You didn't have to wait long as Ms Foss quickly comes in.

“Feeling well John?” Ms Foss asks as two of her aides set up a new machine.

“Yes. Things have been going pretty well.” you reply.

“Good.” Ms Foss replies, “Take off your jacket and shoes to start off.”

You dutifully follow the request. The two aides attach some electrodes to you head and a insert a port into your deactivated IS wristband.

“So have you decided on the name of your future son and daughter with Charlotte?” Ms Foss asks calmly.

“What?” you interject without thinking.

“You two have spent several nights together. And that time the two of you spent the night alone in the hotel. I am asking to see how far ahead you have thought about these things.” Ms Foss calmly answers. “I'm sure you let your hormones get the better of you. Especially with how close you two are.” MS Foss adds.

“But, we didn't do that.” you respond, starting to feel your body getting warmer.

“Don't worry, I won't tell. Doctor-patient confidentiality.” Ms Foss assures you with a smile.

Your body feels far too warm right now. You aren't sure if she is legitimately asking or just purposefully messing with you.

“Charlotte has a naturally high aptitude with IS' so a child with her would be a natural IS pilot. Not to mention she is very much in love with you. A knight in shining armor coming to save her from her father. Quite a Cinderella story if you ask me.” Ms Foss continues as she takes some notes from the readings.

You don't have anything to respond with. Ms Foss is right and you have some rather strong feelings for Charlotte. Meanwhile, one of the nurses takes some blood while Ms Foss continues to take some notes. After the blood sample, Ms Foss continues talking.

“Or perhaps there is someone else you favor. You have several girls all over you. There is the Blue Tear's pilot, Cecilia Alcott, the Schwarzer Regen pilot, Laura Bodewig, and Tabane Shinonono's little sister, Houki Shinonono. If I didn't know any better you were forming a group of the leading pilots of the IS world on purpose.” Ms Foss comments with a sly tone.

“Not on purpose.” you respond a bit curtly.

“I'm sure. Getting experience on handling several girls in love with you is something you will need in the future.” Ms Foss replies as she grabs something from the cabinet.

Ms Foss turns to you and types something out on the machine's display before taking off the electrodes.

“Good news is that you and Reinforce have an extremely high synchronicity. If my theories are correct, these are signs that a Second Shift may occur soon. If we could reliably figure out and recreate the conditions for the Shift Phenomena, it would massively decrease our development times on IS prototyping.” Ms Foss tells you, excitement in voice.

“If the First Shift is when the fitting is complete and the IS attunes itself to the pilot. Then Second Shift would be a further refinement.” you add.

“Almost. More than just a refinement, it brings out the unique traits from the pilot and IS and combines them into a brand new technology. Like Blue Tear's Bits or the Maeve's AI. I certainly wonder what you will show us.” Ms Foss corrects you.

You wonder what such a shift would bring. Further refinement with Reinforce or something more unique to you. You start to think what before Ms Foss interrupts you.

“The bad news is we need a semen sample.” Ms Foss tells you as she hands you a small cup and lid.

[]Grab a late dinner


Since the cafeteria closes around 9:00PM and it's only 8:13, you could at least pick up some dinner. The cafeteria was empty sans the staff. With no line, you grab dinner and easily find a place to seat. You eat the dinner when someone you recognize takes a seat across from you.

“Hey, eating alone? Why don't I join you.” the blue haired girl takes a seat at your table.

“You're Tatenashi Sarashiki from the Doubles Tournament.” you remind yourself.

“Bingo.” Tatenashi replies with a smile.

“Get in a fight with all your girlfriends? Don't worry as this onee-san will comfort you.” Tatenashi slightly teases you.

“No, just some IS stuff that took a lot longer than I thought it would.” you reply after take a bite from your food. “What about you? You don't see like the type to have a late dinner.” you ask.

“Work as the Student Council President takes a lot of my time. So having a late dinner can happen.” Tatenashi answers.

“Sounds like you have your hands full.” you reply.

“Why not join me when the next elections come up? I could use someone of your skills. Even the ones that let you jump out of a two story window.” Tatenashi tells you.

Looks like no one forgot about that. You just hope it will die down.

“Not sure if I can. I'm Orimura and Yamada-sensei's aide while I am here.” you answer before you finish your dinner.

“Then if I have my hands full, I'll just ask them to lend you to me.” Tatenashi replies with a smile.

“Sure.” you reply, a bit unsure if that would actually work.

“Still, it was nice to talk to you tonight.” Tatenashi sends you off with a smile.

“Until next time.” you tell her before you get up from your seat.

Returning the empty dishes to the appropriate place, you head back to your room. A nice shower later and you head off into some well deserved sleep.

The next morning, you get up feeling refreshed. Breakfast was normal with all the girls. Cecilia did mention that today after class, you will work things out with her and her IS support crew. It is Tuesday after all. Reminding yourself and Rin to pick up the itinerary, the two of you leave breakfast early. Along the way Rin begins to ask some questions.

“So you weren't at dinner last night. What happened?” Rin asks as the two of you make your way to the Teacher's offices.

“Just some testing that took longer than I thought.” you answer.

“That took several hours to complete? Nothing unusual?” Rin continues to ask.

“Nothing unusual for being the only male IS pilot.” you answer flatly, immediately forgetting the specific details that were required for the testing.

“Ah, guess that is true.” Rin replies. “But did you really mean I am cute?” Rin asks all of a sudden.

She looks at you for a second before you see her face turn bright red.

Her pace slightly quickens but not enough to try and lose you. Just enough to show that she is flustered.

“I bet next you'll ask that you want to see my swimsuit.” Rin says quickly, trying to cover up her flustered reaction.

“I'm sure you have a cute one that will suit you perfectly.” you reply with a smile.

Rin's pace ever so slightly increases.

“Not a sporty one like you said yesterday?” Rin asks, trying to cover up her embarrassment.

“While I can see you wearing one, that was just me teasing you.” you answer keeping up with her pace.

“Hm. I bet you are just saying that now.” Rin replies with a touch of anger in her voice.

“To be honest, I think you would good in either type, sporty or cute.” you reply.

Rin pretty much goes into a fast walk to cover up her embarrassment before she stops at the Teacher's office door. Looks like her reaction to your answers really hit the mark. No teasing, no jokes, just a straight honest answer. She quickly enters and grabs the stack of papers for her class. You follow suit, just at a slower pace. The walk back to your classrooms was at a normal pace after you catch up with her. Rin was too flustered to talk so it was actually pretty cute. Usually Rin tends to be combative about these things but a blushing girl, completely shy from the truth is nice. Just goes to show that even if Rin is a tomboy, she is still a girl at heart.

Class starts with the explanation about the Seaside classes. A good bit of free time at the beach along with swimming lessons, basic survival tricks for being out in the ocean or on an island and other similar items. Nothing you haven't see before from your training. One thing that did catch your attention was that you were staying at an inn the school owns. That is something you did not expect. Everyone is looking forward to it as you can hear the entire class talk about it afterwords.

At the end of class, Cecilia instantly grabs your arm.

“You don't have to help Ms Orimura or Ms Yamada today?” Cecilia asks while wrapping her arm around yours.

“Don't think so. They would have asked me if they needed anything.” you answer.

“Good. And since today is my day, we will get everything done. Colonel Ashwood is quite interested in the developments we have been making.” Cecilia replies with a smile.

Cecilia begins to lead you out of the classroom before Laura steps in front of you.

“Where do you think you are going?” Laura asks annoyed at the sight of Cecilia holding your arm. “You weren't at dinner and now you are going somewhere with her. Explain yourself.” Laura continues to interrogate.

“You get Friday and I get Tuesday. That is the schedule. Too bad if you don't like it. It is bad enough I lost days since you all showed up.” Cecilia shoots back.

“Irrelevant. John is my husband and as such, I get to spend any day I want with him.” Laura responds as she grabs your other arm.

“You can't just change things because John was not at dinner.” Houki comments on the scene.

“That's right, John had his reasons for not being at dinner. So let's all get along and stick to the schedule.” Charlotte adds.

“Denied. Wife's privileges take priority.” Laura counters pulling your arm in her direction.

“You can't do that.” Cecilia replies, pulling you in the opposite direction.

You need to resolve this before you make a scene. You didn't think Laura would be so affected by you missing out on a dinner. This is something you should keep in mind next time.

“Laura.” you say to her.

“Yes husband?” Laura asks, now not pulling as hard.

“We all agreed to the schedule. But think of it this way. With Golden Week coming up, no classes means you can spend all that free time with me. But that also means getting business done before then. That means what I am doing now.” you answer her.

“But I want to spend time with you now.” Laura tells you with a lonely tone.

“How about this, we can have a sleep over this Saturday. After all the Maeve's maintenance is done the following week will be free. It would be a good way to start Golden Week vacation a bit early.” reply.

“That sounds like fun.” Charlotte chimes in, taking Laura's other hand.

“Yes, I would enjoy that.” Cecilia also agrees.

“I think it is a good plan.” Houki adds in, “ With it being a Saturday, we will not be in such a rush as last time.”

“Ok. But if you try to run away, I will hunt you down and drag you back.” Laura tells you with force in her voice.

“Why would I run away from any of you?” you tell her as you free you hand and pat Laura's head.

Laura accepts that answer as you pat her head.

“Don't worry, I won't be late for dinner tonight.” you tell Laura.

“The let us hurry if we want to be done before dinner.” Cecilia adds.

Cecilia leads you out of the classrooms towards her hangar.

“Now Colonel Ashwood wanted to talk to you first but I think having him watch while we work things out with my support staff would be better. I'll let you choose since we are doing this together.” Cecilia asks.

“Let's go with your plan. You know your staff and Colonel Ashwood better than I do.” you decide.

“Dr Hill is the head of my support staff. Colonel Ashwood is from the Ministry of Defense. He only recently came here because of the massive development we have been having.” Cecilia explains.

“Did this Colonel Ashwood say what department he is from?” you ask, unusual that someone directly from the MOD would come here. It might be a problem if he was from MI5 or MI6.

“We already checked, he is the representative they sent. I think they said he is from Defense Intelligence. It must be about all the breakthroughs we have been having. It is no surprise that the MOD would want to see the fruits of our labor.” Cecilia answers proudly as she slightly holds your arm closer.

Good someone from Defense Intelligence means he should just be interested in the bits progress. Looks like those time Grandpa and your uncles told you to remember to names payed off.

Upon reaching Cecilia's hangar, she lets go of your arm so she can enter first. You see that the support staff is already lined up with all the appropriate materials while a man in a British Army officer's uniform is standing off to the side.

“John, this is Doctor Elizabeth Hill. She is the head of my IS support and maintenance staff.”

“Nice to meet you Dr Hill.” you say as you offer a hand to her.

“Nice to meet. It's not normal procedure that we would allow an outsider to be involved with out developments.” Dr Hill replies as she shakes your hand.

The British do have that habit of keeping all their weapons and military tech indigenous.

“Sometimes you need a new outlook to stay competitive.” you reply.

“It was quite strange you were able to program the entire bits system from the ground up. Not to mention using an entirely different command architecture and fire control system. Almost as if you had outside help since it would have taken us months to program a similar system.” Dr Hill counters.

“I'll be the judge of that.” Colonel Ashwood speaks up. “John Smith, I am Colonel William Ashwood from the Ministry of Defense, Defense Intelligence.” Col Ashwood introduces himself.

“Nice to meet you.” you reply as you shake his hand.

“I didn't think I would meet another Smith.” Col Ashwood comments.

“You met someone from my family?” you ask, probing for more information.

“I met your Uncle David during my time in the Gulf War around the time how he got that funny nickname.” Colonel Ashwood explains.

HE KNOWS. This is not good at all. Since he knows about Uncle David, he would know something about the rest of your family.

“That is why I am specifically here. Someone that knows about you to make sure of everything.” Col Ashwood continues.

“How fortunate that you know John's Uncle. He seems to travel a lot for work.” Cecilia comments with a smile.

No it isn't Cecilia, staying secret is one strength that we keep close to us.

“Yes, he often has to travel all over the world for work. But don't mind me, I'm here just to observe this project.” Colonel Ashwood replies.

“Now if you would tell us why you decided to change the primary processing from the bits to the main targeting computer on the Blue Tears?” Dr Hill asks.

“That is decrease the need to directly control the individual bit units. By using the Blue Tear's FCS you can easily have bits switch between orientating themselves between Blue Tears or to the target. It makes directing the bits easier for Cecilia to use.” you explain.

“What about complex maneuvers? With your system, individual movement patterns have been greatly reduced. This makes the bits more liable to being destroyed.” Dr Hill asks.

“At the cost of making Cecilia immobile while she tries to control the bits? IS combat can pull a lot of parallels from dog fighting. Staying still will get you hurt in IS combat just as it does in a dog fight. It makes Cecilia easy prey to anyone that has a ranged weapon. With the new system Cecilia can near instantly change orientation and formation of the bits while evading and returning fire. The data can attest to that.” you answer resolutely.

“The testing from the first flight even amazed myself. I can show you the recordings.” Cecilia steps in to reinforce your points.

Cecilia walks over to a display and begins to show the specific data gained. You can hear Cecilia begin to explain the finer points of control the bits with the new system. Colonel Ashwood takes this opportunity to walk over to you. He stands next to you but away from everyone else so that only you can hear.

“I also know who your Grandfather is. Do you think someone from the British Army would be involved with these IS'? This isn't the real reason why I am here.” Col Ashwood tells you.

“If you know who my Grandpa is, then you should know I haven't done anything. Five Eyes would have made sure of that.” you reply in a low tone so only he would hear it.

“Since the United Kingdoms is part of Five Eyes, we know the sort of things he taught you along with his activities. I am here to make sure you do not take advantage of Ms Alcott and the Alcott Estate. The activities of the CIA and his various PMCs would greatly benefit from the funds the Alcott Estate could provide.” Col Ashwood responds to you.

Not sure how Grandpa would react but he does seem to approve with his answer to Laura. But that's for the future, for now you get to enjoy the fun times with them.
