>Thread times and updates posted here: https://twitter.com/Crosswire

>Quest is usually run on Saturday starting at 3:30 PM EST

Your name is Shirley Fenette and you’re feeling great.

Why wouldn’t you? After all in the past few weeks things have been nothing but sunshine and rainbows for you! At first you were just struggling to deal with the death of your entire family and the fact you’d been filled with immortal cells that are slowly warping your body in slow and terrifying ways, but now you’re being hunted by two evil cabals and have become the most wanted person in the largest empire on the planet.

You’ve come to the conclusion that it honestly can’t get any worse than this. It just can’t and once you’ve hit rock bottom the only place to go is up, right? Right? Right. You tell yourself that over and over again in your head as you as continue to fly the Bradford towards Hawaii where you hope to find the Avalon and your friends.

It’s been about five and a half hours since you fled from that Britannian military base in Seattle, and the sun is starting to set. While the Bradford has plenty of fuel, you haven’t seen any island big enough to properly land on. You peel your eyes off the radar you’ve been eyeing since you took off and look behind you, seeing Rolo and Gino.

Rolo stands hunched behind Gino’s seat, cramped and uncomfortable while Gino sits slumped in his chair with his eyes closed, his breathing unsteady, making it hard to tell if he’s asleep or unconscious.

“Is he alright?” You ask and Rolo frowns.

“I stopped the bleeding as best I could but he lost a lot of blood and the bullet’s still in his leg. If he doesn’t get medical treatment soon, he’s probably going to get sick, and we can’t exactly afford to be hauling around a dying man with everyone after us.”

“I know that.” You say, turning back to the monitors surrounding you. As you stare across the wide open ocean as it’s dyed a crimson red by the slowly setting sun you spot something in the distance.
At first it doesn’t completely register for you, your mind trying to rid itself of the twinges of guilt spawned from dragging Gino into all this, but as you look down on your radar screen and see a large blip your heart practically jumps out of your chest.

There in the distance, is the Avalon, set against the setting sun like something out of a painting. It flies through the sky slowly, making no sudden moves as you approach. Thanks to flying so low to the water it’s unlikely you were detected by radar and the Bradford’s blue paint job must make you somewhat hard to spot against the see.

With your heart beginning to race with anticipation you consider what to do next...

Shirley's not familiar with the armaments of the Avalon, but it does have defensive armaments of some kind. That long thing in the front is the Knightmare Catapult.

Nope. That long thing in the front is basically a big ass railgun catapult for launching the Lancelot and other Flying Knightmares. That smaller protrusion on the side is a small landing pad for VTOLs and other craft to set down in.

You keep the Bradford low to the water and out of radar range as you fly past the Avalon and circle around, slowing down to stay in it’s rear blind spot or at least where you think the blindspot is. Looking out at the setting sun you briefly contemplate waiting till dark and trying to sneak aboard, but decide against it and pull out your phone.

“Are you sure this is a good idea?” Rolo asks from the back.

“Essentially the whole world is after me at this point and I can’t fight everyone. I need the help of my friends. They’ll help me...they need to help me..."

You begin to dial Suzaku's number, your heart beginning to pick up the pace as your thumb taps against the plastic keys. Once all the numbers are in you raise the phone to your ear and wait, listening to the dull electrical ring tone.

After a few rings you hear something on the other end, a yawn, and a familiar voice.

"Hello?" Suzaku asks groggily over the phone.

"Suzaku, it's me, Shirley! Listen I-"

"Excuse me?" Suzaku asks eruptly, his tone going from tired to hostile. "Shirley? You're Shirley? You definitely don't sound like her."

You hold back a groan as you remember your voice had changed after your throat was cut. Since you don't sound like your old self Suzaku probably thinks you're one of the people who kidnapped...yourself.

"My throat got injured and my voice changed because of it Suzaku." You explain but you can tell from a scoff on the other end of the line that he's not buying it.

"Alright, if you're really Shirley then tell me something only she would know."

You pause, trying to think of something that only you would know personally about...

>Only I would know? Fuck you Suzaku, when I finally manage to finish these martial arts lessons of yours I'm gonna kick you ass so hard you're going to regret ever doubting me.
>>
>>39283194
“Well I tried to hide my identity from you using sunglasses, you blackmailed me into going back to school, you broke me out of prison when Cornelia turned traitor, and I’m pretty sure you were the one who carried me back to the Avalon when I got drunk and naked with Euphemia.”

“...Shirley, is that really you?”

“Yes! God, Suzaku when I finally get those martial arts lessons from you I’m going to kick your ass for doubting me!”

“Yeah you’re definitely Shirley alright…” Suzaku says, his tone relaxing back to the friendly one you're used to hearing. "So what the hell happened? We figured out Pailsen had kidnapped you shortly after he left but when we reported it to command they didn't even bat an eye at the whole thing."

"It's a long, rather unpleasant story that I can go into detail about later. All that's important is that I escaped, and I'm kind of wanted for treason..."

"Yeah we heard about that on the news, but no one here buys it." Suzaku's words calm your racing heart and bring a smile to your face. You knew you could count on your friends.

"What about Milly and the others? Are they onboard?"

"Yeah. We dropped off the students in Hawaii so they could get a ride back to the homeland, but the Black Knights attacked before they could leave. I had to rescue them and bring them all aboard so they weren't hurt in the fighting. We'd drop them off somewhere safe, but this whole area is crawling with EU, Chinese, and Black Knights forces."

"Is it safe for me to come on board then?" You ask and Suzaku sighs.

"I don't think it is. Cecile, Lloyd, and everyone else thinks you're innocent...but we got this weird new test pilot shortly after you left. Her name is Kobato Hanato, claims to be an Honorary Britannian assigned here to help test some of the newer machines Lloyd through together from the Knightmares you brought in. Her paperwork checks out...but something about her just seems odd."

The timing of the girl's arrival and Suzaku's uneasy feelings about her make you wonder if she's an agent of Pluton or an assassin from the Geass Order

You look back to Rolo and ask. "Do you know of any assassins named Kobato Hanato?"

He shakes his head. "Names mean very little to assassins. We generally go between different ones every assignment, it's unwise to use our 'real' names. Though I don't doubt the possibility that she could be an assassin in the slightest."

Going back to your phone you start speaking again. "Suzaku I brought a pair of friends along, one of them needs medical attention. Is there anyway I could land on the ship without being noticed?"

"Maybe. There are two hangers we use for taking aircraft, but only one's in use at the moment. You could land in the empty hanger without anyone spotting you if you were quick enough, but it'd be pretty tough." Suzaku's voice grows noticeably uncomfortable

"I could probably tell Cecile and Lloyd what's going on. They could clear your landing, but it'd be difficult to hide it from that Hanato girl. She always seems to be hanging around where I am..."

You consider your options, noting that you still have plenty of fuel to stay in the Avalon's blind spot till nightfall.

>Try to land the Bradford on the Avalon without anyone spotting you (Requires piloting roll)
>Tell Suzaku to inform Cecile and Lloyd of what's happening and land with permission, hopefully while avoiding the attention of this Kobato girl...

>>
>>39283898
>>39283923
No as the Avalon's blind spot is merely visual and you need to keep your distance to remain being spotted. If you want to drop of Gino, you'll need to land, and once you do that taking off again would probably just get you spotted.
>>
>>39283991
To avoid being spotted. Ugh, spelling issues already.

You've only remained undetected because you're flying low enough to avoid radar and have positioned yourself in the visual blindspot of the Avalon. To land you'll need to fly into the Avalon's visual and radar range, though if you're fast enough it'll only be for a few brief moments.
>>
>>39284116
hm... from my extensive research, aka looking at the first result on google, this Kobato girl is from one of CLAMP's other series, where she appears to be a nice girl. Whether she's actually nice here, we'll just have to wait and see.
>>
>>39284164

>Can you describe the girl?

"Suzaku, can you describe what the girl looks like to me?" You ask and there's a brief pause on the other end of the line before Suzaku speaks.

"She's pretty young, stands about 5,8 with long brown hair and brown eyes. However the color of her eyes doesn't look natural, I think she's wearing contacts. Beyond that though she looks pretty normal, it's just her arrival and behavior that's odd."

You give Rolo the description and he shakes his head. "I've never seen any Order agent who looks like that, but then again she could be disguised. You'd be amazed how easily people can change their appearances and voices...or maybe you wouldn't all things considered."

"Well she doesn't sound too dangerous and if she is I'm sure we can deal with her. I'm going to try to land this thing on the Avalon without anyone noticing, do you think you could make it to the hanger without Kobato noticing?"

"I'll try. If I can't shake her I'll lead her to the other side of the ship so you can take your friend to the infirmary. We don't have a doctor on board anymore so it should be empty."

"Right, thanks Suzaku" You hang up your phone and tuck it away before grasping the controls of the Bradford and turning it's nose upwards, flying up towards the Avalon...

Pulling up the nose you fly the Bradford up towards the Avalon, pushed back into your seat as gravity and the increasing speed of the Knightmare forces you back. Your hands grip the controls tightly and you do your best to stay in control while moving upwards as fast as you possibly can. However as your speed increases you realize that you'll never be able to land in the hanger at this speed, and can't possibly circle around to slow down without risking detection.

“I need to move quickly to avoid showing up on their radar for anything longer than a second! But at this speed I won't be able to do anything other then crash unless..." As you think and the Avalon’s immense size becomes more apparent as you race up towards it, you remember that the Bradford is a transformable Knightmare, one with a faster Fortress mode and a slower, but far more maneuverable Knightmare mode.

Vaguely remembering the controls that Gino listed off before falling asleep you decide to attempt a mid-air transformation as the only other option seems to be being spotted or crashing. Tilting the nose of the Bradford, you fly between the Avalon's wings and begin the transformation sequence as you approach the side of the hanger.

Your fingers move quickly across the controls as the Bradford begins to shift and change, parts moving and sliding all over it's body, fucking up it's aerodynamics in the process and nearly causing you to smash into the side of the Avalon.

Keeping the Knightmare stead you turn hard to the left as soon as you pass the mouth of the hanger, throwing out the Bradfords landspinner equipped legs as you touch down, grinding across the landing strip and sliding into the hanger, slowing down just a few feet from the rear wall.

Leaning back in your seat you breath a sigh of relief. "It wasn't very quiet, but I'd assume the hangers are soundproofed...

You hear a yawn behind you as Gino wakes up, smacking his lips as he fails to stretch his arms in the cramped cockpit.

"Are we there yet?" He asks and Rolo sighs, audibly shifting uncomfortably behind Gino's seat.

"Can you open the cockpit now? If I don't stand up straight soon I don't think I'll ever be able to stand straight again..."

"Oh, right, sorry..."

You crouch the Bradford down and open the cockpit, helping Gino out and placing him on the floor as Rolo hopes out and begins to stretch his back.

"Can you walk?" You ask Gino who shakes his head.

"Not without help. Why, are we going somewhere?"

"The infirmary. I'm not sure if everyone aboard this ship is going to be pleased to see me, but a friend of mine is providing a bit of a distraction so we can get this leg of yours treated." You say, helping Gino to his one usable leg.

"How kind of you. First you save my life and now you're worried about my health. Next step is worry about my diet and after that my feelings. Before you know it we'll be kissing like a proper boyfriend and girlfriend!" Gino teases as you lead him across the hanger, and you can't help but laugh and roll your eyes.

You lead Gino out into the hall and Rolo scouts ahead as you move further into the ship. Once you get to the infirmary Rolo treats Gino's wound.

"So what now?" Rolo asks. "If there is an assassin or spy aboard this ship, they'll ether try to kill you or alert their superiors of your presence here. I'd suggest eliminating them as soon as possible, or capturing them for information..."

"Are you alright Gino?" You ask as you mull over Rolo's suggestion.

"I'm fine. But I'd appreciate getting a run down on what the hell's going on." He says in response.

Deciding not to leave Gino in the dark you take a seat and explain what's going on. You tell him about Pailsen, about the immortal cells, Pluton, and the creepy Geass Order and how you haven't done anything to warrant being charged with treason.

You make sure to leave out certain details, like your vendetta against Zero and the death of your family for the time being given time restraints and everything going on.

However just as soon as you finish speaking Rolo taps your shoulder.

"Someone's headed this way." He says.

"Who?"

"A girl, matches the description of what Kobato girl Suzaku mentioned.

"Shit!" You mutter under your breath as you look around. There are plenty of places to hide, you could easily drop out of sight to try and avoid confronting the girl...or you could hide, wait till she enters the room, and then jump her...

Yes, The area can be as large as he wants, centered on himself, after it is cast, someone can walk inside without it triggering. You see this when he stops Orange temporarily and tells Sayoko to get him while he's frozen. Although Orange cancelled that Geass before they could do anything so I dunno if it works like that.

His heart stoppage is proportional to area.
>>
>>39287015
It's area based, radiating out from him, but he can control how large the area is, I believe. Bigger areas put more strain on his heart.

He didn't seem to give a fuck when he did it to Lelouch at the OSI base, but when he did it to the entire school, he was breathing hard, and when he did it to save Lelouch he was actively killing himself.
>>
>>39286793
“Rolo, can you use your power to cuff her?” You ask as you grab Gino and hide him under a nearby gurney, draping sheets over the side to hide him from sight.

“Sure.” He nods and fishes a pair of steel handcuffs out of the backpack on his back.

The two of you wait on both sides of the door, listening to the quiet footsteps as Kobato Hanato proceeds to the infirmary and slowly pushes open the door.

“Hello? Is anyone here?” She asks as you spy a mop of brown hair poke itself into the room. The girl’s voice is calm and sweet, but you don’t trust it, not even for a second.

As soon as the girl steps completely through the doors and begins to look around, Rolo activates his power and you freeze up, able to watch and see what’s happening, but ultimately frozen and helpless.

Rolo moves quickly, handcuffing the girl’s arms behind her back and managing to cuff her legs together for good measure. When his power stops he’s left somewhat breathless and the girl turns to face him upon hearing his breathing, immediately losing balance due to her cuffed limbs and falling to the floor.

“Ahhh!” She shouts suddenly, managing to land on her side instead of falling completely flat on her face. You rush over and grab Kobato, hoisting her off the ground and flopping her onto a nearby medical bed where you strap her down and draw out your gun.

“Alright Kobato, you’re going to tell me who you’re working for and what you’re doing here or I’m going to make you tell me…” Pointing your gun at the girl, Kobato struggles against her restraints in a panic

“N-No! Shirley you don’t understand it’s me!”

“Who? Stop playing games, I’ve never seen you before in my life!” You grit your teeth and Rolo walks over, offering you a knife.

“I’m Euphemia! If you don’t believe me check my face, under my chin…” Kobato looks at you with fear in your eyes and you stare back with suspicion, holstering your gun you reach out and put your hand underneath her chin.

After first feel nothing by bare skin, but then you feel a small nub and grab it between your thumb and index finger. Pulling on it, the girl's skin begins to slowly peel away as you pull, until her entire face has been removed. Instead of revealing muscle or bone however, the skin reveals more skin underneath and once the flesh like mask is removed you stare into the all too familiar face of Euphemia.

Your eyes go wide and you nearly drop the flesh like mask on the floor in surprise

"E-Euphemia! It's you! I'm sorry I had no idea..."

"It's fine, just don't drop the mask! It's fragile and I only have another spare..." It's weird hearing another voice coming out of Euphemia's mouth, but still not as weird as hearing another voice coming out of your own mouth.

After unbuckling and uncuffing Euphemia you hand back her mask and she quickly reapplies it, looking once again like a completely different person.

"I'm sorry about the cuffing and almost stabbing you Euphemia, I forgot you said you were going to disguise yourself..."

"It's alright, you obviously had more important things to worry about. I'm just happy to see that you're OK!" Euphemia exclaims, hugging you as Gino crawls out from under the nearby bed to watch.

"You look...different." Euphemia comments, seeing your eyes and the roots of your hair.

"I could say the same for you." You comment, looking her over.

“Here let me introduce my friends, this is Gino Weinberg, and this is Rolo. Gino helped me get here and Rolo...well he's been with me since I got away from that bastard Pailsen." You gestured between Gino and Rolo with the Gino waving from his spot on the floor and Rolo just frowning.

"Well it's wonderful to meet you two, though I wish it were on better circumstances..."

"So Euphie, what's happened since I've been gone?"

"Well the Black Knights have taken over most of the Hawaiian islands and damaged a majority of our fleet in this area. Chinese subs and a few EU ships are providing support to Zero and his troops who are setting up shop on the islands, probably to launch an attack on the homeland. It's only a matter of time before a counterattack is launched, but Zero's probably expecting that..."

You try your best not grit your teeth at the mention of Zero, but fail. "What about me? Did you hear how I've been charged with treason by the king?"

Euphie nods. "I did. I assume the people who are after you are friends with my father. That or my father's directly after you..."

"Ether way, I'm in a shitload of trouble aren't I?"

"A tremendous understatement, but yes you are. However I'll do everything I can to help you clear your name, and I'm sure everyone else here will too! Just...don't tell Suzaku, OK?"

“Why are you hiding this from Suzaku?” You ask and Euphemia just looks at the floor, her expression growing sad.

“He’s too overprotective of me, he’d never give me a chance to fight if he knew who I really was. Besides, Euphemia has a bad reputation after the failure of the Special Administrative Zone of Japan. At least as Kobato I can get a fresh start and actually have a chance to earn some respect…”

“You should really tell Suzaku one of these days though, you shouldn’t keep secrets from him. Especially when all this is going on…”

“I know that, I’ll tell him as soon as I feel the time is right.” Euphemia looks up from the floor and into your eyes, her eyes filled with solicitous worry. “So you won’t tell Suzaku? You’ll keep this all a secret?”

“Of course Euphi, er I mean Kobato! Your secret is safe with me. I should be able to keep your name straight now that I don’t have to lie about my own now.” You laugh a little at the comment but honestly hope you don’t mix things up.

"So what are you going to do now?" Euphemia, or rather Kobato asks.

"Well we should get Gino a wheel chair since he can't exactly walk and then..."

“I should give Lloyd and Cecile a call.” You say, taking out your phone.

“Why not see them in person?” Euphemia asks as she walks away and grabs a wheelchair from the nearby corner, unfolding it and rolling it over to Gino.

“Well...I think it’ll be safer just to call them.” You dial Lloyd’s number as Rolo continues to watch the hall, with Gino and Euphemia chatting behind you. After a few rings you hear Cecile’s sweet voice come over the phone.

“Hello? Who is this?”

“Cecile, it’s me, Shirley.”

“Shirley? You sound...different.”

“It’s a long story, but I swear it’s me. Just ask Suzaku.”

“There’s no need, I believe you. Your voice may sound different but you still talk like Shirley does.”

“Cecile…”

“Yes?”

“Do you remember what you told me when I called you from China?”

“Called me from China? Shirley, I never got a call from you till now. What are you talking about?” Cecile’s voice grows concerned and you grow confused.

“Nevermind, I must be mis-remembering things. Anyway, I’ve snuck aboard the Avalon with some friends of mine. I've been falsely accused of treason and there are some pretty shady people after me. Could you and Lloyd come to the infirmary? I have some things I need to tell you two."

"Of course. I don't think Lloyd will mind having you back, I'm sure he'll be willing to help after I talk with him."

"Good. Thank you Cecile."

A few minutes later, Cecile, Lloyd, and Suzaku come to the infirmary. Suzaku's initially suspicious of "Kobato" but you explain the misunderstanding and Kobato apologies. Once everyone has a seat you explained how you were kidnapped, how Pailsen betrayed you, was using you for a guine pig, how he was working for Pluton, and how you're being hunted by the Geass Order who probably convinced or simply asked the king to mark you down for treason.

Lloyd, Cecile, and Suzaku all question the validity of these claims, but Rolo shows off his Geass and you make it clear that your body is changing and can regenerate by inflicting a few small wounds on yourself.

Cecile and Suzaku are left, disgusted and speechless by the revelation to the point both of them walk over to comfort you, all while Lloyd stays seated and just looks intrigued by the information.

"I'm no biologist, but you and this 'Geass' power are truly fascinating. If helping you prove your innocence means I can get more data from the Lancelots and learn more about this power, then I'm willing to lend my assistance. I'd prefer that you not do anything too rash, I'd rather not like to end up a fugitive myself since it's hard to do proper research when you're on the run from the law..."

"If anyone asks you can say I threatened your lives, or took Milly hostage or something." You reply.

"So how exactly do you go about proving your innocence?" Rolo asks coldly. "The Emperor of Britannia himself has marked you for treason, only he can retract the accusation and declare you innocent."

"Well...you could always change his mind." Kobato points out. "I mean, Pailsen and this Pluton group, they're obviously scheming to do something. If you could get rid of them then maybe you could appease the Emperor by exterminating possible usurpers?"

"Or maybe you just get your hands on Zero." Gino adds. "I mean the dude is more wanted then you. If you bagged him and brought him before the Emperor, you could literally ask for anything you wanted."

"Going after this Geass Order might solve things too." Suzaku states, visibly relied by the reveal of so much corruption in Britannia. "If they're behind the request to have you accused of Treason, then dealing with them first might be the fastest way to proving your innocence."

>(2/3)

"Ether way, we're here to help you Shirley, whatever you decide to do we'll do our best to support you." Cecile says, her eyes wet with tears.

You stand there, looking to everyone around you with a strange feeling in your chest. For the first time since the death of your parents and the start of your journey for truth, vengeance, and strength, you feel like you can actually accomplish your goal.

Smiling wide you open your mouth to speak, to name who you will go after to prove your innocence and begin claiming the vengeance you so ultimately deserve.

The problem is that we don't know exactly how deep that rabbit hole goes. Pluton's the more achievable goal at this point, and getting them off our back could at least stop them from making an army of immortal super soldiers.
