>Summary:
You are techpriest Heracor Nahive. You were forcefully implanted a brain chip that made you into little more than a working drone, after escaping your homeworld you somehow got yourself into the Inquisitorial Cruiser “Speculum Animæ”.

>Main Mission:
- Become stronger and fight the Magus that installed the chip on your brain.
>>Secondary Missions:
- Take care and protect Lanky.
- Restore and clean the frigate in less than three weeks.
- Purge the frigate!!
>>Optional Missions:
- Try to destroy the heretical information store on your brain.
>>
As the techpriests left the frigate you rested for some time and waited for the servitors to come. Your lenses focused on the ones that were suited with lascannons in a good-willed yet useless effort to end the spread of the rust.

“Could these servitors be installed with flamers? Low powered ones that could burn the plagues without neither damaging the walls nor floors.” You asked.

Faust as he was way more focused on melee combat just shrugged but Eugen started meditating and came with an answer shortly after.

“The promethium could be mixed with sodium stearate and a fatty agent to make it denser and less of a thermic agent but still continue working as a flammable fuel.”

“So…adding soap to turn the fuel into a fire paste that could cover a great surface and only burn the superficial layering coats of the walls instead of heating the entire structure. Could work.” You added.

“You two seem to know more about the enemy and how to fight it. Go and meet with the Skitarii temple. I will stay there with the few gun servitors and both defend the entrance and explore, Wilhelmina isn't dead yet, she might be saved; the Omnissiah wouldn't let such a bright techpriests to succumb so young.”

You could try to convince him otherwise but he was right. At least one had to stay to defend the entrance and keep the enemy at bay, if those insects, rats and warped creatures managed to infect the Crusader then its crowded population would become into a festering epidemic.

“AVE OMNISSIAH.”

Using your augmented arm you shook his clawed hand and then gave him a military salute before heading away and sealing the doors that communicated both ships.

The path towards the Cathedral was shameful and tiring. Eugen and you reeked of death and rottenness; your bodies were dirty and covered in strange and staining fluids. Regular workers looked at you with fear and disgust, both because of your weapons, bionic nature and the impurity of your garbs, once again you activated your warpsteel mask and let the -][- symbols be totally visible to open a path of fear and move the crewmen away.

Once inside the temple the same small and humped techpriests that attended you the first time you entered stopped you two on its tracks.

“Stop! STOP RIGHT NOW!!”

Even if he was nothing but a weak techpriests that welcomed the people that entered into their temple and none of you two had to follow any of his orders his yelling made you and her to stop immediately and wait for him to reach your position.

“Look at you two!! Have you been fighting in the waste purifiers? That’s slave and servitor work!”

“It’s hard to explain.” You answered.

“And besides, we don’t owe you any explanation.” Added Eugen.

“T-true! But still you cannot enter and stain this sacred temple with the filth that covers your robes and bionics! GO TO THE SHOWERS RIGHT NOW!”

Those showers he was referring to were designed for emergency cleaning of personnel that could have been affected by radioactive steam when using some cogitator or repairing some engine. This time they would have to clean us. They weren't installed very far away, next to the medicae bay.

>There is no time to lose, meet the Skitarius now.
>Take the long shower and clean yourself completely with Eugen.
>Send Eugen to take the shower, go on your own to the meeting.
>Take the shower alone and send Eugen to the meeting, she already knows them after all.
>Write in.

>Take the long shower and clean yourself completely with Eugen.
I don't have a good feeling about all that filth at the moment. Also, it would be good to made absolutely sure there are no insects or eggs still in our bionic legs. Dipping them in a light acidic agent aught to take care of them.
>>
>>39217803
>Take the long shower and clean yourself completely with Eugen.
Honestly, ridding ourselves of the burnt bug carcasses is a pretty damn good idea, not to mention the rest of the filth.
>>
Hmm, a little slow today. Hopefully it picks up as the US comes online
>>
>Take the long shower and clean yourself completely with Eugen.

That old techpriest has no right to reprimand to a couple of warriors like you two but he means no malice on his worried words.

You nod and bend down first, agreeing with his opinion and ending the nonsensical arguing before it developed into a rage filled exchange.

Eugen was more stubborn, maybe as he wasn't used to normal cult members to order her but after giving her a stinky eye and pushing her softly she ended accepting and advancing with her odd way of locomotion towards the showers.

A heavy lead door with a radioactive sign engraved in gold welcomed us to the showers. As we entered the tubular room and got naked the door sealed and the process of cleanup started.

First a red light started illuminating the room as an advisory alarm, soon a couple of ventpipes started sucking all the air until the room became airless for an entire second. A burning sensation filled our bodies as we felt the lack of pressure bloating us but it ended soon as the direction of the ventilators changed and soon filled the room with purified oxygen.

After that we were showered with a cleaning agent in dust form that derived from bleach and that burnt all our organic parts; with this process done a litany started transmitting from some hidden vox-casters as we were hailed with some hot alkaline water that cleaned us from the cleaning powder.

The next procedure was the most painful one. With all our bodies soaked and some crumbs of wet bleach derived crust forming on our skins we were shocked with a small dosage of purifying and non-lethal electricity.
>>
>>39218165
Hahaha, oh wow, okay, now I understand why they didn't shower already. I guess in hindsight 40k showers probably aren't designed for comfort.

At least we're deliciously clean now though.
>>
>>39217803
>take a long shower with eugen

Let's not leave nurgles gifts on our body and robes, that's just asking for problems
>>
>>39218165
I might be in error here, but could we carry with us some of the cleaning chemicals with us, and a tent or something?

As, like, a field shower to help keep us clear of bugs trying to contaminate the main ship?
>>
>>39218165
Wow, 40k showers are quite terrible, however, nurgles rot is still worse
>>
>>39218165

With our bodies cleaned, watered and electrified we were considered pure once again. The last step opened a wall and revealed a giant fan, the room suddenly became a wind tunnel.

The pressure the wind exerted was so big that it pushed and pressed us against the walls and elevated us from the ground, not even my magnetic boots could save me from that situation. The wind continued for about five minutes, after it was over we both fell down. Some small vents opened and from those servoskulls appeared, they scanned us in the search of any impurity that wasn't cleaned and in my case they found it on my legs.

As I was still weakened from the wind and the cleaning procedure I didn't had any chance to stop them before they unscrewed my legs and removed them. I expected another painful yet necessary cleaning with them but to my surprise the skulls only used some air pressure to remove the insect bodies and then once again bolted them to my body.

Weakly we both stood up. My HUD needed to reboot after the electrical shock but after it was done it showed me that about an hour had passed since we got in the cleaning station.

Without time to lose I stood up and helped Eugen to move too. Not feeling my bionic legs completely covered in dead pests and overflowing with blood was something really uplifting. She wasn't so happy, her weak body barely hold it without her losing consciousness again.

She was shaking, her naked skin became even paler and her veins way more visible. You helped her getting dressed and then did it yourself.
>>
>>39218240
I figure we should just set up a full on anti-contamination gate between the two ships, maybe occupying that first room in the parasitic ship, that ensures anything leaving isn't carrying nurgle with it.

We also need to get a camera or something installed to keep a permanent eye on the spread of the surface nurgle rust on the ship so that we can be sure to just ditch it if the taint is getting close to crossing over on the main ship.
>>
>>39218240
That's a thought.
We could also try to find out what those other pipes on the frigate contained while other teams do their thing, to see if it's something helpful. The ones without buzzing that is.
>>
>>39218275

Once outside you two went towards the Skitarii Schola.

The giant leader overlooked the fight between another of her gifted students and a Infiltrator unit. The rest trained hard around instead of observing the combat too, it seemed that they could be ordered to fight at any moment too.

>Inform her of what happened since the beginning.
>Don't give many details, just say that you need a lot of flamers and will reward her with weapons.
>Eugen knows her more closely, let her do the talking.

>>

We'll be able to straight up eliminate it if we get the Gellar field running.

>>39218296
>Write in.
"Warrior, I need your help. There has been an emergency on the frigate and one techpriest has perished already. The threat is Empyrian in nature and deals mainly in filth, rust, pests, and other stagnating elements. Disturbingly, enemies have also been spawned. I can offer you two rewards: combat experience for you and your skitarii, a chance to test your mettle as it were, and all weapons within the frigates Admech Cathedral."
>>
>>39218296
The question is, at what point will the leader stop listening to us and go get the inquisitor to detach the ship.

>Inform her of what happened since the beginning.

But can we try to keep to what we know, and not start mention chaos involvement (does heracor think that?)

Also, I'm a bit leery of just saying they can have ALL the weapons? could we agree to review the salvage later?
>>
Oh, that reminds me. I wasn't around end of last thread to discuss how we're going to persuade the skitarii to assist us and everyone seemed to settle for bribing them in one way or another.

We're part of an Inquisitors retinue. Surely we can threaten them with declaring them heretics if they refuse to assist us? Because that's essentially what they are if they don't aid our efforts against chaos.

Alternatively, appeal to their worshipping of the machine-god. Tell them that there's some strange influence aboard the ship and that it's damaging the great machine - an affront to the omnissiah if ever there was one. Thus we require their assistance in fighting this threat in order to repair the vessel to its glory. Their refusal is a a refusal of the machine-god, something that should be unthinkable for them.

And THEN we can sweeten the deal by offering them ACCESS to another techpriest cathedral - who knows what information it holds, what goodies can be uncovered? I don't think straight up giving them the physical weapons and stuff is the way to go on this.
>>
>>39218401
We literally are just supposed to get the ship in functional shape, the weapons were not part of the deal and aren't our problem. But seconding limiting the fact that we know its demonic chaos shit and not virulent parasites.
>>
>>39218296
>Don't give many details, just say that you need a lot of flamers and will reward her with weapons.

We don't need them to inform the inquisitor.
>>
>>39218427
Did you learn nothing from the most recent all guardsmen quest thread? Inquisition authority won't stop tech priests from being tech priests, if they become obsessed with a topic or get stubborn, they won't change there mind unless the juris or an actual high inquisitor comes down on them personally.
>>
>>39218427
This would work if we were fully part of the retinue.
However, we are essentially on probation, and the boss said before that she would rather ditch the ship than hear of our problems with it.
>>
Sorry for the late answer, I had to move my laptop to somewhere else where the WiFi signal was better.

>>39218240
I think that 40k ships are big enough to settle small camps on them. The Frigate's AdMech cathedral surely as a similar shower as their techpriests also had to tinker with the engines and radioactive stuff from time to time.

>>39218292
That would require install a camera pretty close to an unprotected area and point it to the raw warp. Both installing and surveying it will be something dangerous to do but the idea itself isn't bad.

>>39218401
>Also, I'm a bit leery of just saying they can have ALL the weapons? could we agree to review the salvage later?
Well, if we become part of their Skitarii circle we could maybe get something. We might be Skitarii but for them we are still outsiders.

>>39218427
>Surely we can threaten them with declaring them heretics if they refuse to assist us? Because that's essentially what they are if they don't aid our efforts against chaos.

True, but we aren't inquisitors. Just a guy that has caught her attention; only time will say if we become true Inquisitors or members of her retinue. And besides fucking your own people isn't a good idea, ESPECIALLY when Heracor is a techpriest that illegally left his planet and is a possible heretic.

>>39218390
>>39218401
Working on a mix of those two.
>>
>>39218564
>Did you learn nothing from the most recent all guardsmen quest thread?
Indeed I did learn nothing for I haven't read it.

>>39218582
Fair, I'd gotten the impression we carried more inquisitorial authority than that.
>>
I'm assuming that as the guy in charge of salvaging the ship, we are authorized with the disposition of it's valuable contents, right?

So are we supposed to keep all the equipment in there, for the next inhabitants?

I don't really understand how the empire manages inventory, do the skitarii and the inquisition have separate stocks, or something?
or is it all kept in communal storage?
>>
>>39218296

You walked faster and stride towards the giantess, Eugen wanted to stop you but her efforts were vain as she couldn't walk as fast as you did nor grab you at all since she lacked hands. When you were behind her imposing figure you noticed that she didn't even noticed your presence, the lights of the floodlights installed on the ceiling casted a shadow that hid you even more, after breathing and gathering the bravery to raise your voice you proceeded with your speech.

"Warrior, I need your help. There has been an emergency on the frigate and one techpriest has perished already. The threat is Empyrean in nature and deals mainly in filth, rust, pests, and other stagnating elements. Disturbingly, enemies have also been spawned. I can offer you two rewards: combat experience for you and your Skitarii, a chance to test your mettle as it were, and all weapons within the frigates Admech Cathedral."

As soon as you ended it Eugen reached you, the giant didn't reacted, you looked back at the tripod Skitarii and you saw fear on her eyes. You were going to repeat your message but the warrior leader cut you as she raised her massive bionic arm to stop both you and the fight.

"Go on." Were her only words.

"There are two plagues infighting and flooding those corridors with illness and rot. One is rats, the other are unidentified insects. They devour each other in both open spaces and closed ones like pipes or vents. We need to use flamers to burn them down..."

She turned around and bent over to look at you closer. Her breath made the hair in your nape to bristle in fear.

"So, the Outsider-" The nickname she gave you while fitting was spoken with hatred and venom in her voice. "-and the exile are here requesting us a favor now uh?"

Using her powerful piston circuits she moved without grace yet mightily, she approached Eugen, you were afraid of her life as the leader could easily stomp on her and end her life in an instant.

"I already gave you three a favor..."
>>
>>39218750

You felt shocked by her affirmation.

"Outsider. I let you enter in this schola, my schola. You came here believing yourself to be a warrior when you are nothing but the Inquisitor's lap dog. It is true that you were able to overcome two of my ex-skitarii but that doesn't means that I respect you. It only meant that your justification to carry them was accepted, maybe they would learn how to be strong with someone that defeated them after all."

Surprisingly for her bulky frame she became able to grab Eugen's robe and pull it, leaving her once again completely naked, this time exposed to everybody thought. You saw the embarrassment on her body but she couldn't cover herself, if she did she would lost her balance and fall.

"Do you know why is she so thin? We punished her eliminating 87% of the food and muscular growing medicaments from her diets after she lost so many fights...she's not a warrior but she wanted to be one of us so bad. She's not clever either; she thought that grafting onto herself more weapons would have given her more chances to win but not even after that...you were able to defeat her even while weakened...Shameful." With her last insult she threw the robes at her and she immediately covered as best as she could.

Eugen wasn't ashamed of being naked but of being so incredibly physically weak.
>>
>>39218936

"She was given a favor too. Far too many favors really. Her first favor was entering in this schola, the next ones not becoming a servitor even after the times she was defeated..."

The giantess turned towards the fight again.

"Why should I help you...Outsider?"

>>
So guys, anyone up for trying to secure Eugen some better bionics after this whole debacle is dealt with and if she's still alive by that point?

She sounds like she has all the fighting spirit she requires to be a fantastic servant of the emperor, she just needs a non-malnourished body and perhaps a more sensible arrangement of bionics to fully make use of it.

That said, her current setup of 'floating fire-spam' is actually one of the better ones to combat nurgley stuff as we saw earlier. (Until it gets so bad that even in the air she's no longer out of range and rather finds evading more tricky?) That plus the fact we need every able-bodied and willing techpriest to hand helping out means that any upgrades for her will have to wait.
>>
>>39219327
I'd be up for it.
>>
>>39219327
Why stop at Eugen? Judging by the leader, all other skitarii are subpar, to help her retain her position.
So if we were to take over, I believe every other member could be made better. If after some convincing.
>>
>>39219327
well, we should talk to her about it, but it should be her choice at the end.
>>39219387
eech, I'm against assuming direct control, if only because we already have a job, we just need to teach the proud bitch to respect the chain of command.
>>
>>39219387
If we end up taking over, then yeah sure, I'm all for a general performance upgrade for the lot of them. Sorting that in the time we have before our destination might be a bit tricky mind you, especially with the nurgle infestation to deal with, so I say priority goes to the skitarii directly under us (so Eugen and Faust) before scoping out the other skitarii that are on the lowest rungs of the ladder and working our way up.

>Challenge her to a fight

"You call yourself a warrior yet reject the chance of a fight!" You accused her, somewhat insulted with her answers.

"Rats, Cockroaches and maybe something bigger that scares you off. That's not a fight but a cleaning work." She answered back.

"Is that why are you rejecting the deals?"

"We are in an Inquisitorial Cruiser, what could a lowly half destroyed frigate offer me?"

She was really stubborn and understimated everything; the enemy, Eugen, and me.

"If you don't want to help I will have to force you to do it."

You grabbed your chainsword and pointed towards the arena.

"One versus one. First one being unconscious or incapacitated loses. Do you accept?"

With a single nod the two warriors jumped and exited the arena. The floodlights illuminated all the room and then she dived towards the with a single leap. The entire Cathedral trembled from the shockwave. You charged the promethium and your hydrogen cells before descending.

In front of you stood the still unnamed and amazonian warrior. She stood approximately 3 meters tall (10 feet); her bionics arms and legs were almost as wide as your chest and surely way heavier than your entire weight. With a mind order she magnetically dropped her two fists, soon two freight hooks carried her new weapons, one was a massive drill, the other a piston hammer.

Her metallic calves opened in two and some small turbines appeared from their interior. Blue torchfire appeared at their end, they were surely jump packs that would let her massive body to ascend and deep strike easily.

Finally, a servoskull appeared carrying a helmet, unable to equip it by herself the skull did it for her, another one came shortly after covering her chest with a adamantium plate and covering her completely. She was now ready to fight.

I think it would be really cool to grab the arm and activate the void shield with our electoos at an opportune point, also making a statement about how we think on her wasteful policies.

Later on, though.
>>
>>39219466
Some other tactical options we can try:
>Snap our warpsteel mask on. This will give us a moment whilst she recovers from whatever she sees, though it's not unthinkable it only serves to enrage her. (It also adds to our protection) Then we can use this stalling of her to try something
>If we can grab one of her legs with our claw dendrites to steady ourselves and get our drill on it we can hopefully take one of her jump thrusters out of action. With one gone she's no longer capable of flight and we can maglock to the walls to escape her melee attacks
>If attempting to drill her leg is just too risky we can try to get the corrosive plasma on it. Should be able to melt its way into the fuel supply for it or something or just generally put the jet out of action
>She's very large and very heavy. If she charges us or has us cornered we may be able to crouch down low and push a spinning drill through a foot of hers to pin it to the floor, tripping her
>Getting acid plasma on her drill will morph it out of shape most likely and cause massive friction build up inside, in turn making it either fuse to the housing and cease moving or maybe even wind up having more catastrophic effects with the arm catching fire, etc etc

I'll see if I can think of any other cunning plans

>Maybe am I asking for way too high rolls?
Judging from her description I honestly thought they were very generous. I'd gotten the impression that she was waaaaaay above us in terms of raw fighting power and that only using Heracor's unusual fighting style and smarts did we stand a chance in the slightest.

I guess she might be pretty slow moving on account of her size though? I was sorta assuming worst case scenario that her bionic limbs are just sufficiently high grade that she's still pretty agile.
>>
If we get a chance, could we use our hard material cutter on one of her less well armoured limbs?

>Wait and see how she fights, record her movements to dodge them in the future and study her pattern.

Her two weapons started moving at the same speed and time, apparently they were feed and powered by the same engine somewhere on her back or another part of her massive armor. You started recording her movements and saw how the acceleration of her augmentations increased until her piston and drill moved so fast that they became a gray blur.

On the ground lied various bionic limbs and weapons. Most were on a disregarded state but it seemed that most had their internal mechanisms still on a functioning condition. Your old arm lied about twenty meters away ( 65 feet ), it's surface was covered in dirt and blood but it surely still worked to some degree if provided with electrical current.

She then got on her tiptoes and the jump packs of her calves started emitting smoke and fire. With an explosion she jumped in the air and raised her arms, she went so fast and so high that she even smashed some of the floodlights of the ceiling, raining sharp shards of crystal as she fell like a meteor.
>>
>>39219759
>Maybe am I asking for way too high rolls? They will become easier and lower as soon as she is more weakened. ( On the contrary the more weakened Heracor is the harder the rolls will be; they will never reach a natural 100 thought. )
It all depends on how you narrate failure. Does failing a roll, low or high, frustrate players because it invalidates all their efforts and thoughts put into something. Does a failure halt the plot, or organically allow other oppertunities to occur. Sudden death? Can a cool decision still play out awesome even in failure (is that epic move still an epic move but with less or no effect?)? Failure is generally negative, I believe you said you don't like writing for failed dc's. So far failure hasn't hurt the quest, and you've handled things fairly well. One idea that meshes cool... well, ideas, and dc is to allow good write ins to lower a certain dc, especially if the mark was just missed. I've enjoyed the quest so far and appreciate you looking for our input.Good job.

You turned around and ran away, becoming unable to record her fall but you calculated that the ascend and descend took her about half minute. Even after running to the other side of the arena the descend shook and threw you to the ground violently.

When you turned around all you saw as a cloud of dust and fire smoke. Both her drill and her hammer were stuck on the ground, she didn't doubted to rev them once again and breaching a hole in the ground to liberate herself. By the time the dust went away she was already with her two arms raised and a massive section of metallic debris and bolted pipes ready to be launched at you.

>Shoot at the hole she has formed.

The adrenaline pumps your muscles and brain and makes your brain react in such a speed that thousands of thoughts and actions cross your mind in an instant.

You grab your plasma rifle and mag lock yourself to the ground, your claw dendrites grab the floor as best as they can, you are completely anchored now.

On your aim her big body, above it her debris weapon, under it...the hole; your objective.

The weapon starts shining and vibrating as soon as you press the trigger, on your head the chants and litanies of luck and good aiming repeat over and over. When the shoot is charged you releasing it as soon as you can, if left pressed enough the weapon would overheat and its temperate machine spirit release and transform into a powerful explosion.

Before she can react the green ball of fire flies towards her feet and slides on the recently created hole. It hits some pipes and splashes over some others.

Apparently the acidic afterburn burns some electric carrying cables as the light goes out for a second, then a column of fire forms under her feet, probably coming from a butane pipeline. Somewhere in the ship a cook as lost the fire of its stove.

The fire snake engulfs her big body and illuminates the room for some seconds. The servitors and servoskulls hurry and close the pipe, then proceed to repair the lights.

When the lux is over you see her lying on the ground, smoke coming from her armor, specially her joints.

>>
>>39220565

She was stunned but not over. You activate the noise nullifies for the first time, it burns your throat and makes it feel numb. Suddenly you can't hear anything, not even your heart or your breathing; only your thoughts.

You run confidently, your heavy steps leave a cloud of dust but they make no sound at all. As you get closer and closer your lenses start charging light to become as bright as a neutron start. Only six feet away, the mask goes on, your four lenses are now as red and shiny as ruby jewels.

With a quick jump you get on her chest and remove her helmet using both arms, her pupils are really contracted, she can barely see what's going on, for her you are nothing but a faint shadow, but this wont last long, her eyes will soon show her hell.

You deactivate the sound dampener and scream at her at the top of your lungs.

"CONFESS YOUR SINS, WORM!!!"

When she recovers she doesn't has time to react as you activate your brain scanner the mask shows her the true nature of her shelfish and violent soul. You don't know what does she see but her irises turn very dilated and her eyes teary and red. After some exposure a vein pops violently, making her bleed from her right eye.

You don't give her any rest, your lenses release all the charged light, blinding her once again. Before jumping again you manage to shoot the joint mechanism of her left shoulder and her right knee.

There is not much more you can do without risking more. You move away and wait for her reaction.

After some seconds she stands up and spits at the ground angry as hell. She then surprises you.
>>
>>39221033
Oh boy, here we go.
>>
>>39221033
The giant connects her hammer with her drill, the force of the power hammer powering the mechanisms of the drill even more, making it turn into unbelievable revolutions. She then anchors her feet to the ground and tilts her jump packs, making them point horizontally.

With a deafening war scream she jumps the hole and turns them on mid air, once in the ground she starts advancing leaving a trail of sparks, smoke and fire behind her. Her drill continues spinning at an accelerating pace, becoming red hot from the friction and having a fiery aura around it, focusing more on the weapon it lets you see that it is not a normal drill but a melta one. No matter how armored you are, there is nothing that could survive that.

Maglocked feet keep us steady, or at least has some force act in opposition to her forward movement anyway and she'll come crashing down with a facefull of molten floor.

>>
>>39221469
She's flying towards with melta drill extended right? Her feet-jets the source of propulsion they keep her hovering whilst pushing her forwards?

So Heracor stands his ground whilst facing her. Just as she's about to drill through him he crouches so she flies overhead and then grabs her feet.

This anchor on her feet causes her momentum to send her top-heavy form slamming into the ground whilst Heracor finds himself flat on his back with hands above his head.

Assuming his limbs are still attached, etc

Anyway, suplexAnon has dinner now so he'll celebrate enthusiastically later.
>>
>>39221141

A crazy idea crosses your adrenaline flooded mind. First step, magnetically locking your feet to the ground, anchor yourself as best as you can, the drill dendrite makes two small holes for the claws to grab and hold and then you sink it deep into the ground, fixing you to the ground even more.

Before she has the chance of obliterating and turning you into a gory mess you create another light effect with your eyes and then crouch, not giving her enough time to react and lower her drill to aim at you.

As she passes above you can feel her jets slightly burning your robes and body, as you already protected them chemically not much damage in done on their cloth. You grab her feet and feel the fight between her jets and your fixation tensing your muscles and bones. It is an incredibly painful sensation as she is pulling with as much strength as she can.

You start to regret your idea as you feel your organic shoulder breaking and sparks coming from the bionic arm but then a miracle happens, her fuel deposits end and she cannot pull anymore. Using your last forces you grab her leg completely and using the magneto push of your boots manage to turn her massive body upside down, letting her fall onto her head with her massive weight.

Everybody is speechless, you can barely stand up as none of your arms respond and your legs are way cooling down to react. Somehow you manage to get on your knees and stand up, every step is hard and wobbly as the legs are somewhat damaged and don't have their magnets totally stable.

The leader lies on her back, smoke coming from her body and specially her burnt out legs. There is a small stream of blood coming from her craneum...she's unconscious, you have won.

Slowly you exit the arena with the help of the others, still no answer from your arms, your organic one is bent in an awkward angle, surely broken or dislocated, the other would be easier and faster to repair, advantages of exchanging organic components with machinery that sadly not everybody understood.

"You are leader now..." Said Eugen.

"Excuse me?" You answered, panting heavily.

"This is the hierarchy rule of this temple...defeat or kill the leader; become the leader." Added a random Ranger.

"True...she...Anabelle. She wasn't even an Skitarius, she was a miner that got into a drunken brawl with the old leader and somehow defeated him. That's why her augmentations are all Miner in nature. She became stronger but her nature stood."

"She was the one that imposed the law of the fighting and bionic abandon, she was powerdrunk and knew that we wouldn't judge her for being a "limbless bitch" as she used to call herself." Yelled a mechanical yet young sounding voice in the background.

This was crazy. Gladiatorial fights and the punishment of death or being turned into a servitor, bionics being abandoned after a faithful service... She wasn't an heretic but neither an Skitarius...just as she used to call you; and Outsider.

"Unless there isn't food and muscular growth powder I want to everybody start eating normally, no more starvation and muscular dystrophy under my rule. The most weak ones go and eat, the ones who can fight stay there; we have a frigate to purge. AVE OMNISSIAH."

At least three thirds of the group went to the cafeteria and ate the first solid thing in years. The rest of the group was strong and intimidating. Anabelle managed to create a powermongering pyramid were she was at the top, there were then really strong warriors and a big quantity of malnourished and weak Skitarii. No wonder why the other scholas were afraid of those warriors, the weak ones gave them sorrow and the strong ones intimidated them.

We don't, not right now. This accidental succession gives us an entire band of skitarii to assist us with the nurgles (though admittedly two thirds aren't particularly fit for duty)

Afterwards we may well have gotten some measure of individual competence from the fighting in between, otherwise yeah... chess sounds like a neat plan...

Perhaps the malnourished skitarii can be set to keeping the cathedral here ticking over as necessary and also managing the quarantine point we need to get set up. Give em all a bunch of fire-spewing weapons and they should be good enough at holding it too whilst we take the strong warriors into the thick of things.

This had to change, the students shouldn't be afraid of the Mechanicus warriors but feel safe instead.

"There will be many changes here but I have no time to do them all now."

You looked at them with your warpsteel mask on. Those Skitarii only knew how to use fear and intimidation and now you would combat fire with fire.

"Go to the armory and grab all the energy weapons that use flames and promethium as fuel."

Even if Anabelle wasn't a true warrior she knew how to instigate order and efficiency among her men. As soon as you said the order they all went towards the armory and returned soon after with flamers and heavy variants of the weapon towards you.

They haven't had any true fight and you don't see most of them being able to deal with the horrors that might be growing on the ship but if you don't let them fight their pride might make them hate you...

How about three squads of 17
each group composed of
one of the 'veterans' (one of the ones who was fighting the bugs in the frigate)
10 servitors
and 6 skitarii (equal division of flamers to heavy)

that should leave 70 servitors to station in 'safe' places, to stop encroachments on 'pure' areas
and for methodically burning out isolated zones.
>>
>>39222455
>Make a mixed team. ( Choose how many of each )
Make 3 group: each should have
>5 skitarii with flamer
> 2 with heavy flamer
> 33 servitor

With the exception of our team: instead of the heavy,we can have an additional servitor, that way we use all of our forces.

Have the servitors use the nerfed fuel, the one with the mixes in soap. However let the skitarii keep the normal ones.

The skitarii should only fire if something goes wrong, to minimize the structural damage to the ship.

Also take our arm with us. The shields could come in handy, and one of our dendrites could carry it around.
>>
>>39222455
>Make a mixed team.
The skitarii can direct the servitors for better efficiency. 4 servitors per skitarii.
I'm thinking teams of 5 skitarii, one per section to start purging each section one room at a time, one team secures and protects the engine room so it can be fully repaired and the Gellar field activated afterwards, and 1 extra team that assists any that need help the most.
>>
>>39222455
>MeltaBombs.
Please tell me we're not going to be allowing them to use those onboard a ship we're dismally trying to repair.

Anyway, get the servitors doing sweeps of the immediate corridors to keep the area closest to the way onto the ship as purged as possible. We may want to get half those servitors to ditch the flamers and instead take up heavy lifting duty depending on what we need to get where.

Do servitors have organic lungs?
Either way we need breathing apparatus for everyone, tell them they're all completely locked out of the network whilst onboard the other ship, etc
>>
>>39222585
>Also take our arm with us
We need to get our broken organic arm sorted anyway. I reckon we should probably just nip out for a quick upgrade and install the retrieved bionic arm's fancy stuff to shove into our current bog standard bionic limb. Both can be worked on simultaneously that way for a faster operation and then we'll be in good condition to purge the unclean
>>
>>39222625
You're right, I forgot that we broke our fleshy hand.
So I'm all for a quick repair/upgrade of our arms.
>>
>>39222670
Our legs could use a tune up too, and it wouldn't hurt for someone to give our dendrites a once over either...

Anyway, depending on whether or not there's a ready supply of appropriate breathing masks ready we might need to get the skitarii quickly knocking some up for themselves.

Are the techpriests we led into the ship earlier today still out there by the way? My memory escapes me but I think we ordered them to leave? Did we tell them to give themselves a thorough purification?

Other than that, we outta check up with Eugen too since she wasn't looking so good after that shower and the leader's torments.
>>
Ok I'm back. Gonna read your posts right now.
>>
Do we have any idea whatsoever about how to go about turning on (or omnisiah forbid, fixing) a damaged Geller field?

I think we need to go have a long chat with the techies maintaining our gellar drive, and ask their advice on how to smoothly get it working.
>>
Would it be a good idea to turn off the ventilation systems on the infested ship? I'm thinking it would slow the spread of stuff through the vents. Perhaps we could render the air entirely unbreathable in a manner that would actually KILL the bugs and stuff?

I mean, if we need to get all our minions outfitted with breathing apparatus to stop them inhaling the nurgles anyway, might as well go one stage further y'know?
>>
Ok I'm gonna add some restrictions to make it even harder. because I know that you guys love challenges.

>Remeber that the Inquisitor has eyes everywhere, if she sees a big group of Skitarius heading towards the frigate she will obviously suspect.
>In the Cathedral there is only fuel enough for 50 flamers or 40 flamers and 10 heavy flamers. If they manage to recapture the frigate's fuel warehouse they could refuel.
>There is still the optional mission of creating the semi-solid soap promethium that wont damage the structures. ( This might take from 12 hours to 2 days depending on the rolls )
>The servitors will just open fire as soon as they see a big number of rats or bugs, if a creature mass is eating a Skitarii the servitor would burn him down.

3 groups
leaders: heracor, eugene and faust
composition:
5 skitarii per 1:2:2 heavy flamers in groups.
10 servitors accompanying each group for extra firepower.

rest of the servitors will hold cleared areas, purge dead ends and such and patrol around cleared areas in groups of 10.

the groups will depart for the frigate at different times.

The groups will be hitting hard areas of resistance/emergencys and the servitors will be holding purged areas/slowly expanding them.

What do people think?

Allright. Follow the next pattern:

ten minutes have passed and no other answer has appeared so i'll go with this one. You haven't specified if the Skitarii wear flamers or heavy flamers so I'll go with one heavy per area and the other three on the heavily infested area.

I think a minor objective for those going to the third sector is finding out what's in those yellow, red, and blue tubes, to see if it's anything that could be helpful.
An index that just tells us what all tubes contained, white and lead included, would be even better.

As you start to explain the mission, the briefing of what happened and what to expect they get more and more nervous but at the end you somewhat joke about the enemy being nothing but bugs that you can stomp on.

The teams are made and before leaving you order via the box communicators to the skitarii that are eating to grab her now defeated leader with some hooks and freights and carry her to the infirmary.

Faust and Eugen as they have already done enough will defend the still pure areas and comply with the safest parts of the mission. You, as the new leader will go and do the most dangerous part, recover the sacred engines from the foul enemy and activate the Geller Field, then Opiuchus or Cetus will have to go and cut the infected antennae.

With you come the toughest and most augmented soldiers, all of them carrying on their backs a heavy canister full of sacred and meticulously distilled promethium. You are given a flamer too, a dual backpack carrying to heavily condensed fuel on them.

The next hours are spent with the equipping and suiting the servitors with their new weapons, the altered fuel mix will be for them as they don't have as much care as the Skitarii do when pushing the trigger. After a few hours when the first ten servitors are fitted the first team heads to the frigate. If we all went together we would gather the attention of the crewmen and thus the Inquisitor.

Your team continues working hard fitting the servitors and distilling the fuel. Every three hours another small team of ten servitors and a couple of Skitarii head towards the entrance of the frigate, you will stay in the cathedral supervising an d be the last one heading to the frigate.

By radio Faust informs you that the new teams have arrived without causing any stir with the regular workers...he also informs you that some of the servitors that were originally with him haven't returned.

So... I'm feeling pretty averse to actually having anyone sleep out there. Feels like it's just begging for them to wake up with bloated bodies.

Likewise, eating and medical procedures feel like a bad idea.

I reckon focussing on maintaining access to the working area and then beginning to carve a path towards the gellar field is the most sensible solution and it has the advantage of keeping our forces less spread out.

If the inquisitor says anything about the large number of skitarii moving back and forth between the vessels we should be able to pass it off as us having persuaded them to lend their efforts with repairing the ship. Not a lie, not the most detailed truth. She'd no doubt be pleased to hear we beat the skitarii leader in combat so we might be able to drop that as a quick way to mollify her.

Anyway, before we do any major work to reclaim the gellar field we need to get Eugen and us in fighting condition again, locate and talk to a techpriest or several who know how to handle gellar fields, get breathing masks, set up quarantines and so on.

We could probably get a bunch of skitarii deployed and holding the working area stable pretty quickly but getting everything ready for a push into the ship systems might take a day or two.

>>39223899
So how well was our distribution? Also Any sign of lost techpreistess?
>>
>>39224156
>So... I'm feeling pretty averse to actually having anyone sleep out there
I said rest, not sleep. After they start cleaning the ship sealing it entirely would be a good idea because travelling between to both ships would increase the chance of infection. The entire frigate should seal and become some sort of quarantine.

>Likewise, eating and medical procedures feel like a bad idea.
How so? I'm sure they will know when something is infected or rotten.

>Anyway, before we do any major work to reclaim the gellar field we need to get Eugen and us in fighting condition again, locate and talk to a techpriest or several who know how to handle gellar fields, get breathing masks, set up quarantines and so on.
Good idea. This will be done in Sunday's thread.

>>39224252
>So how well was our distribution?
It was well done. Most forces focused on the infected area and didn't left the other two unprotected. You guys are clever and make good plans.

She was a workaholic techpriest, she is surely battling the infection by pure sheer will because her work isn't done yet.

I have a question for the players:

As the quests has advanced I have introduced many characters most of them named; some of them have only appeared or be mentioned a couple of times, I did it to give the sensation of overpopulation and being just another person among countless billions.
>Was I able to recreate that sensation? Or do you dislike having so many characters that are given a name, a description and personality and disappear or are killed soon after?

>Do you think that there should be a more established party ( Inquisitor, Lanky//Liwet, Juliannus and Heracor for example ) that travel and adventure together instead of the player being so freelance and going on his own most of the time?
>>
>>39224663
Going through characters like tissue paper is a staple of 40k. I imagine we'll be more focused once the Inquisitor tells us where she wants us. (we'll be spread kinda thin being on her retinue, with lanky and as head Skiitari.)
>>
>>39224663
I'm fine with named characters in general, even if we don't see them much. It helps tell them apart if we need one in particular for something.
>>
>>39224663
>Was I able to recreate that sensation?
Yes, even the most minor characters feel like they have a vague backstory to them, their own hopes and dreams etc
>Or do you dislike having so many characters that are given a name, a description and personality and disappear or are killed soon after?
Kinda, because the way I tend to play is to try and keep everyone alive. But I wouldn't have you change it, it does well to portray the grimderp of 40k accurately. Still sad that our best techpriest died though. She was only 12!

>Do you think that there should be a more established party ( Inquisitor, Lanky//Liwet, Juliannus and Heracor for example ) that travel and adventure together instead of the player being so freelance and going on his own most of the time?
Time and place. I enjoy that aspect too but right now it wouldn't make sense to do that - not least because we'd then be directly following orders then rather than taking the initiative which doesn't lend itself as well to quests. Anyway, I'm kinda expecting us to party it up so to speak when we reach our destination.
>>
So Anons, what are the best techs you can imagine in the following categories: offence, defense, FTL. Feel free to suggest another category.
Here are mine.

>offence: Quark Gluon Plasma death beam with molecular destabilizing effect.

>defense: Space Fold. Physics suddenly say you can't touch this.

>FTL: Improbability Drive. Not even Daemons would risk getting on a ship equipped with that.
>>
>>39224801
> the way I tend to play is to try and keep everyone alive.
>WH40k
>Everybody alive.
You have chosen the wrong quest and wrong universe.

>Still sad that our best techpriest died though. She was only 12!
I don't know why you liked her so much. She barely talked and was grumpy as hell, besides she didn't knew how to walk and could barely move by herself with her wheelchair.

>I'm kinda expecting us to party it up so to speak when we reach our destination.
The Inquisitor will be the leader but still leave a lot of liberty since the way she acts is leaving liberty but keeping an eye on her people.

I think that the party will be pretty balanced:
>Inquisitor Karelia
Leader and psyker.
>Juliannus
Tank and warrior
>Liwet
Secret For now
>Heracor
Tech expert and support

If we had stayed with the Imperial Guard the party would have been different thought.
>Oihan Alzador
Leader and Warrior
>Fire in the Skin
Medic
>Arwa Arrorum
Support and sniper
>Heracor
Tech expert and support.

I personally think that with the Inquisition we will get more danger but also more rewards.

>>39225036
>You have chosen the wrong quest and wrong universe.
Nonsense, I like a challenge and the taste of my tears

>I don't know why you liked her so much.
She was the most efficient.

>Iq's party
I was kinda expecting her to have had some outstanding retinue members from before we met her. Were they part of the men she shared with her husband then?

Either way, no wonder she was desperate enough to take us on. Let's do her proud.
>>
>>39225036
Well I don't know about that, since we know staying with the Guard would've given us the opportunity to look at Tau and Eldar tech.
>>
>>39225001
>Quark Gluon Plasma
DAoTech. Not impossible to get, just extremely improbable.
>Improbability Drive. Not even Daemons would risk getting on a ship equipped with that.
Tell that to Tzeentch

>>39225106
Of course, it connects directly with the kitchen.

>>39225114
>I was kinda expecting her to have had some outstanding retinue members from before we met her. Were they part of the men she shared with her husband then?
It could be that both her and Inquisitor Rodan traveled together with their daughter.

Maybe she just had to go to such a dangerous mission that the husband that she raped and was scared of his own daugther was safer with him on a death world...and on that mission only her survived.

>>39225146
Well I don't have planned battling every faction as the quest goes on but meeting those two armies is very possible in both paths.
>>
>>39225146
We'd have to sneak past Oihan for that though, Arguably tougher than killing a deamon prince.

>>39225241
Yeah she seems to go through troops a lot. you survive one misson...... Congrats you're now a veteran squad leader!

Question how come no one freaks out near us? A blank should make a filed that makes normal mildly uncomfortable(explained away by us looking odd with our augmetics) and be painful for psys to stay near us for any length of time.
>>
>>39225296
>Question how come no one freaks out near us? A blank should make a filed that makes normal mildly uncomfortable(explained away by us looking odd with our augmetics) and be painful for psys to stay near us for any length of time.

It is somewhat related with our brain chip. But It isn't explained yet.

>It could be that we are a true blank and that the chip is hindering our powers to some degree making us somewhat more acceptable even to people with souls. If this were true and discovered the Culexus temple would love to dissect us to make their assassins even more invisible.

>Another possibility is the inverse; we do have a soul and we aren't blanks but the chip is somehow blocking psychic and demon attacks making us some kind of fake blank. If this is proven to be true then everybody; including chaos, eldar and the own imperials would love to get the secrets for themselves.

>A last possibility is that Heracor is an unique individual with the best of both worlds, but that would make him way too mary sue so nah.
>>
>>39225418
Ah alright then. Kinda surprised the Inquisitor hasn't looked at us oddly yet since we don't fit the standard.
>>
>>39225465
>Kinda surprised the Inquisitor hasn't looked at us oddly yet since we don't fit the standard.

Mind to explain the standard thing?
>>
>>39225542
It's usually an aura that's around the individual, and it normally doesn't make psy attacks explode just makes them cease to exist. Our field is noticeably smaller(by a good 5 feet or more) and different(explosions!). Blanks are usually brought in by non psychic inquisitors for shielding them from chaos and other warp fuckery for a good reason.
>>
>>39225591
Additionally their mere presence can substantially weaken demons, or snuff them out entirely if they are really weak. Inquisitors really like blanks if said inquisitors isn't a psy.
>>
>>39225591
Well Karelia hasn't tried to launch any psychic attack so far so she doesn't knows about the explosive shield.

Maybe it's just that Heracor's null effect is so small and dense that it goes unnoticed and if attacked he doesn't only stops it but ricochets it back?

Only the future will say; Investigating it will be hard as fuck thought as the chip is the reason we might be considered both traitors and heretics; traitors because it is the reason of why we left the forge world and heretics because that shit is weird.
>>
>>39225694
See so far leaving you forge world of your own volition isn't bad, and we can always say Oihan offered and we accepted, transference paperwork got lost(munitorum a shit). As for heresy? Why? We've been loyal and killed a lot of heretical shit, and a broken chip installed w/o our permission is not our fault. (magi of our forgeworld may get in trouble)

As for her not knowing? How? She read her daughter's mind, I don't doubt that trauma of her back breaking would not have been missed.
>>
>>39225814
You might be right, I'm too sleepy and tired to remember it all perfectly. About the munitorium mishap that was the excuse that we gave to Oihan during the second thread I think.
>>
>>39225867
Yeah Munitorum sucks ass, they can misplace whole sectors.

I do remember you saying Karelia used psy to much with Melli's mind though. Although the fast Ko might have cleared the explosion out of her head. We need to talk to Karelia about maintained Mell's spine anyways.
>>
>>39225922
Mellizune can't see and got knocked out, besides her mother meddled with her mind to erase the trauma of her father's death. If I recall correctly she doesn't remembers why she has those legs and thus doesn't faults Heracor from her paraplegia.

She could even become a party member if she grows up and becomes a teenager or an adult. Fixing completely her back is an important task but can wait for now.

Heading to bed now, you got any description for the archive?
>>
>>39225998
"A favour? No ma'am, I'm simply asking you to <insert something about suplexes here>"
>>
>>39225998
