Her human friend clears her throat to get everyone's attention. Demetrios flinches before slowly turning to face her. When she speaks her voice is firm and unyielding. “While I'm sure you two are the very image of moral righteousness, I must inform you that tonight was intended only for Iliana, Katherine, and I.” She pauses, pursing her lips in frustration while looking past you to the dance floor. “Though we seem to have lost Katherine.”

The elf, Iliana you presume, admonishes her friend playfully. “Relax, Annette! There's no harm in a little male company, perhaps it will do you good. You spend far too much time by yourself, and when we do convince you to come out you hardly talk to anyone.”

He's got one of his hands rested on the inside of the Elf's thigh, her own hand holding it there. You think she might be playing some sort of game or something, to prove that she's not a skinchanger to Demetrios. Gods above, you'd always heard that Elves were insatiable but you didn't imagine they were this easy. He'll have her in bed within the next ten minutes at the rate they're going.

An idea occurs to you. Channeling vys, you urge what remains of the wine in all of your cups into the air, using it to craft a miniature stage in the center of the table. A dark red figure made from frozen one climbs to the top of the stage, waving his arms about in an exaggerated fashion to draw the attention of a non-existent crowd. Annette seems curious, but doesn't immediately say anything. At least you got her attention.

Two actors appear on stage. You took care to craft one of the figures in Annette's image, a young human woman sprawled out on a chair, one hand rested languidly across her face to hide her tears. The other figure, a tall and mysterious stranger, approaches the crying woman to offer her some small comfort.

However, the miniature Annette rebuffs the other actor, slapping him dramatically across the face and pushing him away before immediately returning to sobbing in her chair. The other actor, evidently confused and a little put off tries again. This time he doesn't approach, holding his hands up in mock surrender as the two seem to converse. You use some of the excess wine to create a sort of sign at the front of the stage that displays the dialogue.

The miniature Annette picks up her chair and hurls it at the other figure, the sign at the front reading. “I am trying to enjoy being miserable!” The chair hits the other figure, knocking him to the ground, he seems to exclaim. “But why?! I just want to help!”

The woman opens her mouth wide, the placard reading simply “Dragon Noises” You're about to go on with the little impromptu theater performance when Annette interrupts. “Fine, fine. Alright. If you're going to insist on it I suppose it's easier to just come out with it.” Her tone is annoyed, but she's smiling despite herself. “Can I have my wine back, now?”

You pour the wine back into each of the cups, topping off hers and yours with some of the contents of Demetrios and the elf's cups. Annette raises her wine to her lips, probably to stall for time more than anything else, only speaking once she's drained half her cup. “If you really want to know, my father has sold off my maidenhood to some fat merchant in Chiron. Apparently I was bundled in along with the silks and spices he was peddling. I'm supposed to board a boat tomorrow for that blasted city to meet my husband to be. This was supposed to be the last time I could be together with my friends.”

She rest her chin in the palm of her hand. “Yet clearly Iliana is more interested in getting her hole stuffed, and I don't even know what happened to Katherine. Despite speaking rather openly, Iliana doesn't seem to notice her friend badmouthing her three feet away. Probably because Demetrios has poured some of his wine between her rather modest breast and seems to be having some trouble lapping up what spilled between. Iliana is giggling like a madwoman, the pitch of her voice suddenly terribly annoying you find.

You turn your attention once more to Annette. “Why don't we give these two some privacy, find a table of our own where we can talk without distraction? Just because your friends are immature doesn't mean your last night in town needs to be a unhappy one.”

She seems reluctant, but agrees. The two of you slip away unnoticed and make your way towards the back of the tavern, to a table near the stairs up to the second floor. Back here it's less crowded, most of the patrons seem to crowd in near the stage where the band is performing. She seems a little more comfortable now that her friend isn't cavorting with a stranger right in front of her.

You get Annette talking about her father, and it seems as if before you know it she's spilling her life story to you. Apparently her father is some sort of powerful merchant in the city, once the late Lord Spiros' main rival for the position of Lord Steward. He's been down on his luck recently, and this was his way of ensuring that she'd be well taken care of after he's gone. She's just upset that she was never consulted on the matter.
