You are CARLY, a prospective career criminal looking to make it big in the criminal underworld!

Currently, you were gathered with your new crew at your new safehouse. It was a... modest affair. Just a few empty rooms with a couple of couches and cots to use as furniture. Even the location wasn't all that great, being hidden behind an old laundromat. Who even goes to a laundromat anymore?

Then again, if anybody were to be looking for you, it would be the very last place to check, so you suppose the safehouse succeeds in that aspect.

"Not exactly five star." Your twin sister Sam mumbles as she carefully prods one of the old couches with her shoe, as if it were going to suddenly explode into spiders.

"Hrm, is this really the best Hotel Moscow can afford?" Lisa looks around skeptically.

Artya meanwhile stays silent as she sits on one of the old couches and bounces up and down on it, causing an infernal squeaking and creaking noise from ancient cushion springs.

"Well, we all gotta start somewhere." You shrug. "Besides, does ANYBODY here really want to bring it up with The Russian?"

The rest of your crew just looks at each other nervously. The absolute silence is all the answer that is needed.

"Yeah, it makes sense." Sam sighs, finally breaking the silence. "She probably doesn't want to invest too much resources in a new crew like ours."

"Yeah, well, you gotta spend money to make money, right?" Lisa frowns. "Don't even have a decent workshop here-

"Hello? Hello hello? Can anybody here me?" A small electronic voice buzzes, causing all of you to freeze.

"Who the hell is that?!" Lisa yelps.

GHOST?! Artya quickly taps into her tablet.

"Oh, sorry girls!" The voice says apologetically. "I'm Loki, your crew coordinator! Think of me as like your mission control, or something like that!"

"The Russian put you up to this?" You ask, searching for the installed speakers in the walls.

"By 'put up', you mean 'hired', then yes!" Loki says happily. "Oh, and don't worry, I can only speak to you. There's no cameras in your safehouse so I can't actually see anything, so you don't have to worry about privacy issues!"

"Wait, then how do you know we were looking?" You narrow your eyes.

"Uuuuuuuuuuh, would you believe me if I said it was a lucky guess?"

"Lisa. You know what to do." Sam grunts.

"Yep." Your techie nods as she reaches for her tool pouch.

CREEPY. Artya writes.

"Well, um, ON TO BUSINESS." Loki coughs awkwardly. "Welcome to your safehouse! Provided to you free of charge by Hotel Moscow!"

"Yep. Definitely got what we paid for." You nod.

"It'll be a lot nicer when you spruce it up! Honest!" Loki assures you. "That's not even the cool part!"

Suddenly, the couch Artya is sitting on rumbles and shakes, causing the masked girl to yelp as she leaps off. The couch then slides away to reveal a hidden trap door.

"Welcome to the true safehouse! Loki says proudly as you and your crew cautiously walk down the stairs. "Complete with a safe, a workshop, and and everything else you need to carry out a heist!"

"Okay, now THIS is pretty nice." Sam nods as she looks around.

You're not too sure. It looks like a remodeled basement, complete with bare concrete walls and exposed utility pipes and wires everywhere. But it was better than nothing.

"So, technically, I'm supposed to give you girls a bit of a 'rest period' so you all can 'get to know each other'. But, you seem the sort to love the action, so I can give you a few leads on jobs right now, if you want!"

Not sure if Clover even exists in this point in time. It's rather vague as to when this all occurs.

When we got into the Tombs, we weren't warned of Cole, Melissa or Julie. If anything, this quest can take place: before the two of them got a reputation (and for Cole, she wasn't even born yet); when Clover was slowly consolidating power; or set in the future when they all retired.

"I dunno, I feel like I'm in a theme park mood." You shrug.

"Ha, called it!" Sam chuckles and slaps you on the back. "Always the kid of the group."

"S-shut up!" You you wince. "I've seen the stuff you keep on your hard drive!"

"What?!" Sam gasps. "W-w-w-when?"

"Hey, come on, we're not going to get anywhere if you two keep bickering!" Lisa sighs. "Yo, Loki, so you got any ideas?"

"Delta City Park, of course!" Loki says happily. "You're lucky, too. The DCPD is going to hold a demonstration there today for their policebots! So, you can have some fun and a bit of recon as well!"

"Convenient." You muse.

"Hey, Artya, are you going to go like that?" Sam asks, pointing to Artya's roughshod poncho and gas mask. Not exactly normal wear.

I'M FINE LIKE THIS. Artya types, and then shrinks away and pulls the hood of her poncho further down. NOBODY WILL SEE ME ANYWAYS.

That's when you see Artya begin to shimmer out of existence. Her poncho was actually lined with auto-camoflauge material. That was pretty high end stuff. As long as she didn't make any sudden movements, she'd effectively be invisible.

"Oh come on, that's no way to go to a park." Sam frowns.

"Surely there has to be some other way." You frown.

"Hmmmm." Sam suddenly snaps her fingers and digs her bags, where she kept a medical kit in case of emergencies. She then pulls out a small surgical mask. "You don't like showing your face in public, right? How about this?"

Artya seems to stare at the surgical mask for a few seconds before snatching it out of Sam's hand. She turns her back to you as she carefully takes her gas mask off and puts on the surgical mask. You can see ruffled, messy, short dark hair and a pair of piercing purple eyes as the mute girl turns around.

BETTER?

"A lot better." You smile.

"Well, I think we can explain it away as allergies or something." Sam says.

"Well come on, let's go! I wanna see those bots in action!" Lisa says excitedly.

"You do know those very same bots are going to be hunting us down, right?" You raise an eyebrow.

"Hey, doesn't mean I can appreciate good engineering!" Lisa laughs.

True enough.

Thankfully, another perk Delta City seemed to have was its highly efficient public transportation. Within half an hour, and you're already in the city center, the opulent District One, where the citywide monorail network drops you off at the front gate of Delta City Park.

"Whooooaaaaaa." All four of you gasp at the sight. The park was nothing but large, seemingly impossibly large rides and colored lights.

"Artya, have you ever had carnival food before?" You ask.

Artya silently shakes her head.

"Holy shit, girl, you do NOT know what you're missing out on!" You gasp.

"Oh come on, just this once!" You pat Artya on the. "Artya here looks like the kind of girl who'd come from a third world shithole that would KILL for a Big Mac!"

I STABBED A MAN IN THE HEART FOR SOME CHICKEN MCNUGGETS. Artya types. DOES THAT COUNT?

"Are... are you being serious?" You blink.

Artya just shrugs, her partially obscured expression never changing.

"Christ, what kind in ass backwards end of Russia did you come from?" Lisa winces.

I'M NOT FROM RUSSIA. I CAME FROM DOWN THERE. Artya points down to the ground.

You, Sam, and Lisa look at each other awkwardly in realization.

Before anybody can say anything else, you suddenly speak up to try and lighten up the mood.

"HOLY SHIT IS THAT FUNNEL CAKE?!?" You yell as you point to one of the stalls.

"Cole's Super Sugary Sweet Red Velvet Cake?" Lisa raises her eyebrow.

Artya's eyes widen with horror as she looks at the face plastered on the side of the stall.

"Something wrong, Artya?" Sam asks.

"You look like you've seen a ghost." Lisa frowns.

I KNOW THAT GIRL. Artya points rapidly.

"Well duh, everybody knows who Cole is." You say as you swallow the last of your first plate of red velvet funnel cake.

"Whoa, wait, when did you get one of those things?" Lisa gasps.

"I'm a fast eater." You explain as you order your second round.

"This isn't even the worst of it." Sam shakes her head.

YOU DON'T UNDERSTAN- Artya frantically types but she's quickly cut off when you shove a plate of super greasy and super SWEET funnel cake into her arms.

"Yeah yeah, I know a lot of ne'er do wells like us love Cole, but I'm more of a Rochelle fan myself." Sam laughs. "Better eat up. It's not often Carly offers food to other people."

"Are you implying something there?" You grunt, licking some whipped cream off the side of your mouth.

OH NO SHE DIDN'T

It was one thing for Sam to make fun of your eating habits. You frankly didn't care what she thought, whether seriously or jokingly. But you DID NOT, under any circumstances, STEAL A GIRL'S FOOD LIKE THAT!

"Oi, Sam, you really want to suffer an unfortunate accident, don't you?" You say as your eyebrow twitches.

"I dunno, I was always the faster one." Sam chuckles as she takes another bit out of the funnel cake. YOUR funnel cake.

"But I was always the stronger one." You give a forced smile. "Unless you forgot the wailing I gave you the last time we went at it."

"I think YOU'RE the one with the faulty memory there..."

Meanwhile, Lisa and Artya were standing off to the side, apparently enjoying the show.

"Aaaaaah, it looks so nice to have a sister..." Lisa muses as she digs into her own cake.

I'M A LITTLE JEALOUS. Artya taps before setting down her tablet to slide a forkful of cake under her borrowed surgical mask.

"I suggest just getting a new one." Sam smiles sweetly. "It won't do to make a commotion here, you know..."

"Hmph." You grunt. "I see your little game here, trying to get me into trouble by picking a fight with you."

"Now why would I do that?" Sam gasps with faux surprise.

"Cuz that's just how you do things." You pout. "Getting others to do the dirty work for you."

"Well, I AM the smart one..." Sam chuckles.

"Bah, whatever." You wave her off. "This bad mood's got me all hungry again."

"Excuse me, have any of you seen two girls causing a disturbance here?" You hear someone ask. You turn to see a young woman, probably roughly the same age as you were. She seemed to be normal enough, wearing casual clothing like everybody else present.

Except for the DCPD badge clipped to her belt. She wasn't visibly armed, but you got the feeling this person was the type to carry concealed weaponry.

"Oh, there's no problems here at all!" Sam assures her and turns to you and the others. "Right?"

"Right!" You, Lisa, and Artya nod in unison.

"Hmmmm, all right." The officer nods, not quite convinced, but seeing no actual commotion, couldn't really do anything. "Carry on then."

"Jeez, that was close!" Lisa finally breathes as the officer walks away well out of earshot.

"What? Why are you relieved? Me and Sam were the ones in danger!"

"Sorry, I'm just no good with pressure." Lisa admits.

TERRIFYING. Artya adds.

"Well, let's move on." Sam sighs. "Where to next?"

"Really?" Lisa blinks. "She seemed pretty normal to me."

"Nah, she definitely wasn't a beat cop, that's for sure." Sam frowns. "And she's way too fit to be a detective or plainclothes cop, either."

IT IS A MYSTERY. Artya writes.

"We gonna investigate?" You ask Sam.

"You know it!" Sam grins. "Just like old times!"

"Old times?" Lisa raises an eyebrow. "You two used to tail cops for a living?"

"We had this bodega - its kind of like a grocery store meets a deli - with the best fucking donuts and coffee right in our old stomping grounds.

All the cops were dirty as hell, but really streetwise. They knew when to not give too much grief. Trained dogs, almost.

So it was kind of a thing us ruffians would do. Street traditions - if they catch you loitering or roughhousing, something not ACTUALLY in trouble, donuts will get you off the hook."

"Hm, your Dad sounds like an interesting guy." Lisa grins. "He still in the business."

"Nah, he retired years ago." Sam shakes her head with a smile. "He, in his words 'was getting too old for this shit'. Plus he saved up enough money to live off of comfortably for the rest of his life."

I WONDER IF HE WAS FAMOUS. Artya muses.

"Maybe...? We knew he was a heister but he never really talked about any specific heists he did." You shrug.

"Artya, are you up for some sneaking?" You ask.

ALWAYS. Artya puffs with pride.

"Then try to tail that cop. Let us know what you see, okay?"

ROGER. Artya salutes.

"What are we gonna do in the meantime?" Sam asks.

"Might as well check out that demonstration, right?" You shrug.

"Okay." Sam nods. "Lisa?"

"Oh yeah, I'll get to see all the cool bots there!" Lisa's eyes sparkle.

"Well, let's go." You wave them on.

The three of you head for the main meeting grounds, where you see easily over a hundred policebots gathered in the central square, standing as still as statues. You could see many spectators gathering around the area as well, and for good reason. Thanks to the policebots, petty crime was virtually nonexistent, so policebots naturally were not deployed very often in some kind of self repeating cycle.

"Whoaaaaa." Lisa ogles at the bots. If it weren't for the line of security personnel and caution tape, you figured Lisa would start doing unspeakable things to them if she had the chance. "The latest models, too!"

"So uh, what do you know about these things?" You ask.

"Oh, these?" Lisa grins. "These babies here are the Tetra Vaal Scout mk3 models! They swapped out the steel titanium alloy armor the older models used and replaced with lighter carbon fiber ceramics. Equivalent protection for a fraction of the weight, so it makes them faster and more nimble, allowing them to keep up with humans. I hear they can even sprint!"

"Scary." You frown. "Any variants?"

"Oh yeah, the Scouts are designed to be completely modular, and built to the customer's specs." Lisa nods. "They got more heavily armored variants, sniper variants, and others designed to carry specialized gear!"

"But bullets can still stop them, right?" You ask.

"Well, ANYTHING can be stopped with enough bullets." Lisa shrugs. "The lighter and cheaper variants will go down to most small arms, even handguns. But they get progressively meaner and tougher from there."

"Huh." You nod. You're pretty sure a decent MG would be enough to handle them.

"HEY EVERYBODY!" You hear a very loud, very energetic voice yell. "How are you all doing today?!"

Everybody cheers.

"That's right! Today's demonstration is going to be held by none other than me, honorary Police Chief Julie!" You see the blonde, big busted idol smile and wink.

And the crowd goes wild.

Must be nice being idol, you think.

"Now, before we start things off proper..." Julie grins. "My challenge still stands! Is there anybody out here who thinks they can beat me in arm wrestling? Come on! I promise I won't hurt you too much!"

>>
>>39150295
..what next, Danish Drama?
>>
>>39150297
My issue isn't the ethics of it, it's just anons injecting titty grabbing where it doesn't belong. Everything has a time and place. Neither of those have been reached in this quest.

>>39150303
Nope, we keep this Asian. As such, the next logical response is Vietnamese Ventriloquism.
>>
>>39150320
Ooooh, next will be Philippines Pantomime eh?
>>
>>39150320
>titty grabbing where it doesn't belong.
>Julie

Seriously anon, you look like a stupid fool right now, just shut up.
>>
>>39150320

Inb4 we go YES and julie is like

'Hey i didn't say you COULD. If you want to, you can do it once you beat us in arm wrestling! Seeya next time!"

and instead we get a rivalry and real problem with a cop idol for the rest of the quest.

Its the smart move for merc to use peoples testicles against them.
>>
>>39150328
Phillipines has an "F" sound, so I hesitate to use it. I'd generally go Bornean Ballet.
>>39150335
Yes, Julie has big tits. We get it.

Sailor moon, really, here?
>>
>>39150343
Nigga reread the 2nd half of your post and realize it makes little to no sense
>>
>>39150362
Why not.
>>
>>39150362
'talent' is a long popular term to describe tits, though 'muscles' would have been a bit more fitting.

Rin's being called talent is fitting.
>>
>>39150363
An, an anon that possesses 0 empathy and doesn't understand emotions, much less femine motivations.

Introducing the antagonist and setting them up as a rival is a delicious move. Having the players walk into it all by themselves is even more hilarious.

I mean, if -i- were running a cops and robbers type deal, thats what i would do. Introduce the opposition in a friendly, public, noncombat appearance, make em both a role model to look up to AND a force to strive against, and really, really, really make carly frustrated and annoyed with being one-upped by julie by the end of the quest.
Or hammer home that getting cop attention in a game about heisting and getting away with it may just not be your best idea to do at every turn, especially not for the luls.
>>
>>39150393
Take your fedora off and shut the fuck up.
>>
>>39150393
Seriously anon, everyone here still reeling after idol quest ended anderc throwing clover idols on us will guarantee clouded judgment.
....and i fear our heist will very difficult with idols everywhere now.
>>
>>39150393
I'll give you feminine motivation, but not the rest. And yes on the rest of that, but this situation becoming a "real problem"? I just cant see it, maybe a thing on the side. Bloody phone keyboard.
>>
>>39150426
I'm not the anon you were yelling at previously. Just arrived.

>>39150452
Its not a problem per se, but there is some mad props and respect for having a read on your players enough to manipulate them like that.

>>39150427
I'd have been interested to see if the reaction were different had the whole cast been around to choose from.

"I... I totally wasn't expecting a serious answer." You gulp, your eyes never wandering away from Julie's twin peaks.

"Ha, I'm pretty cool about this sort of thing!" Julie chortles. "Go on! I won't do anything, promise."

"Out here?" You blink.

"You have an issue with that?" Julie tilts her head.

"Well, all the people out here, and the children..."

"Oh, right! I totally forgot about that!" Julie laughs. "All right, just step back here..."

Julie leads you a bit further back into the stage where the audience couldn't quite see you.

"All right, go for it!" Julie puffs with pride.

"Um... okay..." You bite your lip and reach your hand out.

Huh... they actually were real. How about that.

"Believe it now?" Julie winks.

"Uh, yeah." You nod, blushing a bit. "Thanks, I didn't think you'd be up for it."

"Hey, anything for the fans, right?" Julie laughs again as she slaps you on the back. Hard. "You know, kinda like you. I'm always open for a rematch!"

"T-thanks." You grin.

You head back out and link back up with Sam and Lisa.

"So, are they real?" Sam asks. Of course that would be the first question.

"Yep." You smile and nod. "Ten bucks."

"Yeah yeah." Sam grumbles and hands you your winning bet.

Jackpot.

You then feel a tap on your shoulder and you turn to see Artya standing there, looking glum.

"Artya? What are you doing here?" You ask.

SHE KNEW. Artya taps quickly, looking a bit agitated. SHE KNEW I WAS FOLLOWING HER.

You look at Sam and she looks at you, her face frowning in concern.

"That doesn't sound good." She sighs.

And then your phone rings. In fact, all four of your phones begin to ring.

"Sorry girls, but something just came up." Loki says. "Get back to the safehouse. It's time to earn some money."

>And that's it for tonight! As always, next thread is next week. Unfortunately, I can't run PJ Witches on Sunday as planned, so it will be postponed to Monday afternoon!
