Your patrols continue to intercept patrolling pods from the Obsidian Queen, although they appear infrequently and sporadically, hopping from system to system in an apparent effort to properly scout the region and spread your patrols thin. Even in your own systems you have detected them scouting the perimeter of the system, only to be intercepted immediately. Even through her pods you can feel a mounting level of frustration from the rival queen, and you can’t help but wonder when she will attack again.

Elsewhere, your forces continue to grow. Beneath the waters of the recycling plant’s water tanks your drones stir from their eggs as flies emerge from the water to dry their wings and take flight. The sound of buzzing echoes through the chambers as your drones begin to map out the sewers of Gemini’s capital.

Welcome back to Hive Queen Quest!

>Bored chitin slugs
By improving the shape of your kinetic slugs, as well as increasing the spin imparted to them as they leave the weapon, you can improve the armor penetration potential of your kinetic weapons. A kinetic weapons now deal more damage to armored targets. [passive upgrade]

>Siren
Taking the form of an elaborately shaped head similar to a radar dish, this adaptation allows a drone to emit a powerful mixture of sonic frequencies and directed electrical pulses to cause severe disorientation to a target. The effect causes blackouts to your own drones, but the drone is immune to its own effect, and the pulses are shaped to prevent friendly fire. Causes nausea, loss of balance, and muscle spasms to subjects in a 45 degree cone in front of the drone with an effective range of roughly ten meters, depending on atmospheric conditions. Long term exposure can cause seizures, irregular heartbeat, and may lead to cardiomyopathy.

>Microfactory chambers
Using advanced compact assembly designs lifted from human industry and combined with your own biological and nanomachine based assembly processes, you have developed a relatively effective method of manufacturing small craft within the hull of a ship. A ship equipped with a microfactory will automatically replenish any lost strike craft it carries, or if it is assigned to a fleet, it will automatically replace any lost strike craft within the fleet itself. Hive ships gain this ability for free, while other ships must be equipped with the chambers.

Utilizing powerful cooling rays to maintain a temperature of near absolute zero, superconductors can be constructed and maintained out of cheap and easily replaceable materials and nearly no cost, allowing the hive to construct and maintain efficient mass transport networks across a planet to increase the speed at which the hive spreads, and removing the need for shuttles to transport drones and resources across a planet.

>Neural crystal fractals

By creating redundant designs the method of interaction with psionic signals can be adjusted, potentially leading to a sturdier defense against psionic based attacks.

>Unknown directed energy weapon
medium
A mysterious weapon of unknown composition and capability, picking apart the various remaining samples should reveal more about its nature.

>Thought muffler
Slow
While you are still unsure how to build replicas of the void shard remains needed to build the psionic shroud, you do think you may be able to recreate a similar effect. While the result would likely not be nearly as effective, it could be employed by individual drones or ships without the need for built infrastructure to support it.

>Quantum Entanglement engineering
Slow
Experimentation with the behavior of entangled particles could reveal potential uses beyond simple communication. Your thinkers have several tests ready to proceed to test the interaction of quantum entanglement with your own technology, although the tests will require the construction of multiple prototypes and test devices that will likely not survive the experiments.

>Ground-orbital mega-construction
Slow
By using new construction systems to improve efficiency, the hive can build new projects capable of reaching orbit, using the rotation of the planet to remove the requirements of a free standing structure and instead essentially hang a station in orbit from the surface of the planet. Such a construction project would double as a docking pylon capable of constructing capital ships at a much faster rate, and replace the need for shuttles to ferry goods to and from orbit. [Unlocks the Capillary Tower construction option]

>Mantle excavation
Slow
By using advancements in the operation and function of the metal trees, you can force them to focus their attention past the rocky crust of a world and have them dive their roots clear into the mantle of a planet, tapping into a vast wealth of metals

>Psionic Cannon prototype
Very slow/Very dangerous
Detailed accounts of several experiments show the slow progress of Project Godsplitter. The cannon itself is highly volatile, and even the smallest miscalculation often results in the destruction of the ship, as well as any nearby craft. It can only be equipped to a Hive ship's spinal mount, and requires a functional Void Shard as ammunition. At least a dozen testing sizes were atomized in testing the weapon, and in the end it appears The Gardener never quite perfected it.

>Flash Cloning
Medium
While it may not be healthy for the clone in question, your mastery of biological technology allows you to accelerate the normal growth cycle of a clone, growing it to maturity within a single day, however clones are not as genetically robust as your own drones and doing so may cause undesirable genetic defects that may take time to reverse and result in a lower quality final product.

Your flies fill the air and spread through the pipes and tunnels of the sewers surrounding the protein recycling plant and slowly rise to the surface, watching and listening as humans go about their daily lives. Back bellow the streets your hybrids stand around an egg as it cracks open and a parasite squirms out, writhing within the soft shell.

Your hybrids are obedient to your mental commands, but they will require a parasite to control the metamorphosis to becoming a chimera capable of laying any larger eggs then your small egg layer.

You have your workers move them into position and you focus your attention on its contents.

The ion thruster is a secondary drive, the skid are the primary and they decide the overall stats and that means their default maneuverability is almost zero and the ion thrust modify the maneuverability slightly.

In any system our ships will have several gravity wells they can lock onto for acceleration, not to mention that they can also use the gravity wells created by human drives.

You feel the memories of the long dead hive wash over you as you peer into the crystal. You can see the warriors of the Black Queen burst into the chamber and attack the effigies of the other queens, carrying them away. The image goes blank as the Builder's own effigy destroys itself and you can feel the panic of the hive spread across the planet. Bunkers are built to house drones and cannons, and airborne drones fill the skies. After several short days of this, you hear something as a single pod blinks into existence on the edge of the picket fleet.

"I have finished it, but it has not been tested."

You recognize the voice, and you watch as the Builder and your mother begin to prepare.

The Builder's planet is grand in size and scale, filled with towering monoliths and spires mounted atop the bedrock of hard granite and metal ores. Entire spires are collapsed to make room for defenses, bunkers and pylons alike cover the planet as the White Queen's ships deliver a small package, and it is quickly grafted within the Builder's hive ship.

"Will it work?" The Builder asks. Her carapace is jagged and angled with horns covered in rings and metal ornaments. Her hive is almost entirely metal, woven from carbon strings like a spider's web. Your mother's response is cold.
"I do not know. I cannot test it without alerting them."

The Builder clicks her mandibles together once, harshly like a dropped brick, "You wish form me to test it for you."

"You will have the opportunity. Inform me of its success, or its failure." She says. Her ships retreat as the Builder's forces take the delivery, and one by one they blink away.

I meant on our capital planet but yeah we should be laying some parasites in humanland as well.

It's important that these things do NOT get discovered so we should try to minimize that possibility as much as we can. Ideas?

Personally I believe we should be very selective about who we infect, higher ups only, shadow government types are a high priority. Maybe we can come up through their toilets when they're asleep and paralyse them with our flies before impregnating them. Obviously everything on the human planet should have self destruct built in.

Imagine if we did start infecting civilians, I mean, assuming we don't go loud and crash one of those citadel-esque ships into the planet and start throwing creep everywhere.

Imagine a family where the father gets infected. Biding his time, acting like nothing is wrong. He's still essentially the same inside, just with new motivations and another mother for the family to meet. No one even gets suspicious. Until an opportunity opens up. Ambushing the wife, knocking her out or just dragging her off. Tearing her open and pushing strange creature inside of her. Then she's up and about like nothing ever happened. She might not even remember. Then they get the kids while they sleep. Then the get the neighbors.

Imagine if word got out. What if you found out your SO had a parasite? What if they were attacking you to try and infect you too? Perhaps you'd convince yourself that they aren't the same person anymore. But your loved one is still in there, somewhere. And if you tie them up, or lock them somewhere, that won't hold them for long. Maybe a day. Maybe two. And a horrific changes start happening to them. The longer you delay, the more the person you loved starts slipping away.

Days pass before the first signs of the attack can be seen. Several pods across the system blink in and out, observing and retreating before they can be attacked. They continue to observe for another day, and then vanish.

Just beyond the range of the Picket fleet a formation of capital ships blink into existence. They charge into the waiting line of defending ships and are quickly overwhelmed by sheer numbers. You feel confusion from the queen as her sizable picket moves around the attacking forces, and then a sock of panic as... something... pours itself from an error in space like a liquid seeping from a cracked glass.

The Hive ship fires, and there is a terrible scream of mental anguish, then then nothing as the ship snaps in half under the stress, engulfing entire formations within the blast.

You put down the crystal as the memory of the stellar object sliding through the picket fades away, and you note your patrol ships report no more pod activity. They slowly drift back to their standard patrol routes, reporting no further disturbances to intercept.

Elsewhere your flies have spread across the district, filling the sewers and patrolling the streets. They are ignored by the crowds, or met with lazy swats of the hand. A short man behind the desk of a store sprays one of your drones with the contents of a spray can and forces your fly to flee, but he only grumbles and returns to his seat.

Where did you get that idea? You have no clue what the protocols of contact and engagement are. Keep in mind that nukes are a standard part of any Union armory, every combat capable vessel carries more of them than a modern day missile silo. They've got far less stigma attached to them than they do IRC, and even then the satellite wasn't even carrying enough to wipe out an entire civilization. In the mean time, barring the actions of a rouge faction and their deranged agents, the Union have been relatively up front and diplomatic with us.

I say we should base our exchanges with them on their actions and political environment, not a single file based on one of their obscure bureaucratic protocols.

>Have your flies map out and monitor the area around your new hive

You send your flies into patrol patterns and have them find hiding spots to keep watch of important junctions. Even within the sewers there is an abundance of activity as Taidarens scavenge among discarded refuse, drunkards stumble through sludge safe from the biting cold, and shifty-eyed criminals exchange merchandise and information bellow the plastic and enameled skyline of the office buildings and condos above.

Your Brawler bends over in pain as the wounds seal themselves across his abdomen and you can feel a desperate hunger was over him. The hybrid claws back to his feet and quickly makes his way into the twisting tunnels under the guidance of your patrolling flies. A guttural cry echoes back from the poorly lit tunnels as your clone turns the corner.

Your patrols continue to report nothing of interest, and it begins to worry you.

we need more hive ships so we can reinforce and rebuild medium sized ships on the go, have we made a dedicated drednoght sized or bigger support ship? like a giant armored factory that has little in the way of weapons sans for defense and a metric asston of shipborne production?

Like, really why? We're not really widespread yet, we don't have anyone going out on grand voyages, why can't we just use docking pylons?
>>
>>39018809
Pods are designed for scouting and we only have 15 systems to look through.
>>
>>39018836
Well I guess you're right, that sounds feasible.
>>
>>39018836
I hoped Thought muffler research would finish so we could put that on pods before sending it into enemy hive space. Since that would preclude them noticing that anything has entered the system at all.

I'm not sure how useful scouting out a point of attack right now is though. It might be better to have it be on our own homefield, where planetside missile silos exist.
>>
>>39018901
It would force her to divide up some of her forces for defense instead of attacking us.
>>
>>39016730
This is what we need the drone made of parasites for.
>>
>>39018901
I want to disrupt her attack before she even gets a chance to launch it also if she does attack she'll have to realize that she'll be leaving an opening for us to exploit. Also we need to know what we're going up against.

>Reinforce Leeland

You recall a number of your ships from their usual patrols and trade routes to reinforce your picket over Leeland.

A quick signal is sent along your lines of communication, and the Skyl and Union fleets take their own defensive positions. Hopefully you are wrong, but you would prefer to look foolish then to face another surprise attack. All there is left to do now, is wait.

"Are you sure you couldn't find anywhere closer?" Jackob says as he drops his bag. Lyle inspects the kitchen of the cheap hotel room. A high rise "business suite" offering little more then what is absolutely necessary. Oddly enough, it was still more luxurious then the usual safehouse. Even cheap lobbyists had standards, after all.

"The window has a perfect view of the target, it's only a few miles away. I didn't want to run the risk of any of their guys spotting us." Dillon says as he setts up the bulky weapons platform near the window. "And by the way, just stating the obvious, we can't set up this thing on the roof without running the risk of somebody noticing, so lets try to not use it unless the shit hits the fan. I'd like my security deposit back at the end of this."

Jackob snaps his fingers at the holo-screen and waves over the local news. "Hey you know anything about that?" He asks, pointing to the image of the crater your pod had left in the fields outside the city.

"You know I couldn't tell you if I did." Dillon says "Besides, wasn't it just a satellite?" Jackob scoffs.

"Then why'd BFI find it so interesting, and look at that level of security, they didn't even let the locals near it."

You give Lyle a nudge.
"Maybe it was just their satellite? They need them too you know." He says.

"You're telling me that we're staking out a secret BFI office after all the shit we've seen, and you think nothing of them stealing some space shit before anyone can see it?" Jackob asks. "It's Dillon's job to be a fuddy duddy but I expect more from you."

"Alien insurgents, rebel terrorist plots, a Commonwealth invasion, anything." Jackob throws up his arms for emphasis. "I heard that by the time the cops got there it was already gone. That one of the locals saw it lift off the ground and disappear into the woods, as in a ship, not debris."

"And where did you hear that?" Dillon asks.

"Bet he was higher then Olympus Point when he told you, whoever it was." Lyle adds. Jackob flicks the channel to something else in annoyance.

"That is besides the point."

You split your attention between your many tasks, and you plot out locations for your pods idly as you mull over your options.

First Landing
Named by your ancestors as the first settled hive world beyond Raligha, known then simply as the Garden. It was actually held by your Mother, offering a decisive advantage that likely led to her position above the other queens. A collection of worlds can be seen orbiting the white dwarf star. Near the edge of the system is a belt of debris and stellar gas, while closer in is a small rocky planet, its surface covered in frozen slag and the solid waves of molten rock. Craters mark the surface, and shattered towers show where contested hives fought and died along hundreds of hotly contested landing zones, likely in the wake of the White Queen's retreat. Open veins of metals form on the surface like gashes in flesh, shimmering with ice. A black mat of living hive is spread across half the planet like vegemite spilled across a globe. It churns and moves with activity, with pylons sprouting from the surface by the thousands like hair. A globe of sub-capitals, mostly corvettes, are formed in orbit around the planet, and clusters of orbital pylons in the hundreds drift amid them, each attached to some manner of half-finished capital ship.

The next planet in is a ball of ice, likely once a lush oceanic world before the star withered into the cold white ball it is today, but that was long before even the queens arrived. Tubes cover the ice sheets in thin lines, piercing the surface to the liquid water bellow while massive hive spires swell with liquid water and nutrient paste. Corvettes and shuttles swarm over them, quickly moving back and forth between the surface and the fleets above.

The last planet is another rocky world, close enough to the star to just barely maintain its warmth. You detect a hint of an atmosphere and trace signs of liquid water along the surface, although there is no life. At least, no native life. The entire surface is covered in black hive structure, and swarms of drones can be seen even from space as they move by the millions from construction project to construction project, or simply on patrol, moving from whatever hive they emerged from to an awaiting corvette. A Hive ship sits parked in orbit while streams of shuttles flow to and from it like a stream of liquid from its side. As the system's defenses shift to intercept your pods you detect the Hive ship charge its drive, and in a pulse of radiation that briefly illuminates the surrounding fleet it vanishes.

Several wings of corvettes are quickly moving to intercept your pods, flanked by swarm drones.

Cluster
This system is not a system at all, and had the map data you recovered not include it you would have likely never known where it was. One of the hives of the Nomad, Cluster is a collection of asteroids, stellar debris, and ancient ship remains held together by hive structure and tendon cables. It is far too large to be mobile, although many of its components appear to have once been mobile, with dozens of derelict hive ships forming into catacomb like structures interspersed with rubble and pylons.

Several battleships are docked to the carved chunks of hive ship hull that makes up a portion of the Cluster, and they open fire as they detect your pods. Swarm drones pour from the cavernous structure in twisting formations as they close in on your scouts.

Guys, we can task around a couple hundred pods with fusion bombs, blink just outside the system, the sublight in under stealth, until we're right next to the nigger queen's pylons and then blow them the hell up in a spoiling attack.

Jewel
Your pods erupt into space around the system and begin taking notes as quickly as possible. It is a rich system, appropriate named, and even after the brutal wars of contesting hives it remains, not quite pristine, but still a prize to be had. A gas giant skims along the edge of the asteroid belt at the edge of the system, and among the many moons and rings you see thousands of small pylons and corvettes mining gas from the planet as corvettes strip the moons and nearby asteroids bare of metals.

Further in you find a planet with a dense atmosphere, placed firmly on the edge of the habitable zone of the main sequence star. Weather patterns and plentiful signs of liquid water cover the surface, and through the clouds you spot the tips of hive spires and docking pylons. A Hive ship and two battleships orbit closely, their massive hulls covered in the dark specs of corvettes and other smaller craft. Orbital pylons drift in the orbit of the planet's two moons, both seemingly rich with metals.

Further in is another habitable world, this one more dry but still suitable for life. Blankets of bright orange flora covers the planet's wind swept mountains, pierced by the constantly spreading hive structure of the Obsidian Queen like an infection against the bright colors of the native life. A harsh buffer of lifeless gray soil marks the end of the edge of the hive structure and the start of the wilds. At least a dozen battlecruisers drift in orbit as hundreds of sub-capitals stream from the pylons bellow.

The pickets are quick to respond. Your pods begin calculating for their blinks as swarmers emerge from the asteroid belt, blurring your sight of the gas giant.

Now if we took the concept of a suicide unit, slaped its template into a carrier with microfabs, then this tactic would be fucking devastating. Wonder
One of the Builder's hive systems, there is little remaining of its natural form. Several small planetoids drift in uneven orbits, but they are little more then barren moons. Within the system, behind the veil of stellar debris, is a massive structure of hive design. At least a thousand kilometers long, it appears to be a station, or a space city, built from the surrounding debris. Half a dozen unfinished Hive ships cover the surface, their bodies withered. Around its massive bulk, like vultures, is a fleet of Scavenger ships. They are towing a number of ancient ships with them, prying them from the pylons of the superstructure and ripping the hull of the Hive ships apart. They take notice of your pods before too long, and begin deploying strike craft into defensive clouds around their larger craft while the smaller ones move to intercept.

They appear to have at least two dozen corvette or frigate sized vessels, with another three cruisers in the center of their fleet.

Your ships enter space in a series of blinding flashes and open fire. Your weapons cover the shields of the Scavenger ships as the lead craft loose their spinal mounts. The streams of weapons fire quickly pass each other, filling space with shrapnel and invisible beams of energy. The shields of your own ships light up as they deflect the incoming fire, and the strike craft move out to swarm your fleet as the lead ships loose several slow missiles.

After a short moment of exchanging fire with the smaller ships, the first salvo from the distant cruisers impact. You feel several of your corvettes blink out as the kinetic impacts tear through their hulls, and the shields of several of your frigates flicker and die as they are sent reeling from the impact. Their weapons pivot and swivel as they attempt to track the enemy, and their thrusters flair in an effort to right themselves as the strike craft slowly rip into their armored hulls. Your corvettes fill the space around them with explosive chitin and you watch small craft burst and flair into balls of flame.

The next salvo hits, and you see more shields flicker. The emitters of others strain and melt under the pressure, and the flurry of cyclotrons from the corvettes and frigates burn away your ships. Several of the Scavenger ships are smeared across space as your cruisers slowly turn to face them, and your corvettes scatter to engage, their own hulls whittling down and filling with holes as they trail streams of blood and medical paste.

Another salvo, this time met with your own as your cruisers return fire against the enemy lead ships. You watch as they are engulfed in the fires of your kinetic strikes, and then more of your own ships shatter from the impacts, and your cruisers blink out of your mind, replaced with five orbs of atomic fire blossoming in the center of your fleet. The remaining ships enter a frenzy.

You feel a sting of pain as a frigate impacts another ship, its hull piercing the shield and shattering the armor of a scavenger ship, splitting it in two while one of your corvettes is cracked open as a pair of Scavenger corvettes drift on either side, punching holes through the hull with their spinal mounts. Blood and bone mixes with steel and polymer, and eventually you see the remaining craft begin to retreat. They begin to accelerate away from what is left of your fleet and towards the blue giant in the distance.

You have driven them off, but you are not sure if you would call it a victory.

You watch as the remaining hand full of enemy ships accelerate away, and you send your pods rocketing after them as your few remaining craft fire their spinal mounts. They are quickly engulfed in atomic fire and their hulls ruptured from weapons fire as particle beams and kinetic strikes alike tear into them. As the blinding streams of radiation subsides, you see only slag and chunks of hull.

How do you not see the problem with this? If we need to take the drones out of hibernation, it's probably because they're under attack. They need to be awake.
>>

And increase the number of Biotanks to 1000

Technically ships are already kinda like that. Semi autonomous.

Remember the one time the hive got psionic jammed? The ships were still active, and told us what it was like being cut off.

Don't ALL drones go batshit if they lose their connection to us? No matter what they're going to be lost and confused.

>>
>>39024260
Oh, QD, you forgot to add the ongoing cloning project of the 100 hybrids in the copypasta still. That is happening right?

In which case we need to lay 100 parasites to implant inside every hybrid. Just in case they want to chimerize later, and it has the bonus of regeneration medical paste.
>>
>>39024344
Wasn't it 100 Skyl? Why would we put parasites in them?
>>
>>39024322
Yeah, but the question is either laying new drones which takes two or three days, versus taking one day taking them out of hibernation, versus 0 days if we just keep them around as is.

Hibernation recovery just isn't fast enough to justify, since we don't know how sudden future needs for them might occur.
>>
>>39024305
Yes, but it had no idea what to do without us giving it explicit orders. It just sat there within the jamming zone pissing itself, and likely would have continued to do so until it received a command from us to do otherwise.

That's the big advantage of quantum thinkers. They still require our commands for guidance, but are capable of lateral thinking if cut off from us. Instead of just waiting around for us to get to them it will think 'how do I best please Mother in this circumstance' and attempt to do so without being prompted.

I also agree with doing adding thinkers to our ships for the reasons pointed out here >>39024378
>>
>>39024395
>>39024394
>>39024388
We don't need quantum thinkers on every ship, normal thinkers will do just fine. All we need to do is give them a set of instructions on what to do.

To monitor their health and how their society develops in a vacuum.

But wasn't talking about Skyl clones. Was referring to the human hybrids, so that they can be cocooned at any time we choose.
>>
>>39024369
Alright, looks like all of those are confirmed too, as well as there appears to be a good amount of support for adding quantum brains to all ships. At the moment it is standard to equip all ships with a relay, would you like to adjust that, or add both a relay and thinker to every ship?
>>
>>39024417
Think they meant both, since it's an "in case of jamming break glass" measure.
>>
>>39024371
Normal thinkers can only follow commands to the letter, and simply sit and wait until they receive new ones. Like Heretic spending 70,000 years waiting for refugees that were all already dead.

Quantum thinkers can adapt, and think up new ways to fulfill our orders when cut off from us. They are significantly better equipped for independent action in the event of psionic jamming.
>>
>>39024417
both

>>
>>39024460
And what happens if something unexpected happens, or we get jammed in a situation we weren't prepared for it, or expect the ship to pursue an objective of any kind while under the effects of jamming? The quantum thinker is better equipped for all of those scenarios. It's simply better at acting like an individual on it's own, it's right there in the pastebin.

>>39024474

>Add quantum thinker to all ships
>Add standard thinker to all ships

Keep the standard thinker there to overide the quantum thinker if it does something too autistic. My main problem with letting the quantum thinker's was that they were designed to be autistic, so I thought at one point they would try out an idea they thought was great, but was actually really retarded.
>>
>>39024511
Deep Song is the Valen bank anon. Not the nameless Ceph homeworld.

Also Valen smugglers smuggle to and from it with Hyper Gates, so some people must know the homeworld's coordinates to do that.
>>
>>39024518
I don't know where you're getting this idea that they're autistic at all, they're significantly less autistic than normal thinkers.
>>
>>39024559
>assembling input in ways that would seem absurd or illogical at first, guided more by intuition, guesswork, and curiosity
They will often make their own tasks and goals when left to their own devices

I'm just worried they'll do something really retarded when they get disconnected from us.
>>
>>39024433
>to the letter
>simply sit and wait
They're not complete retards, anon. If they don't have orders they'll attempt to find us and get orders. They also won't attempt to do something repeatedly if shit isn't working.

Quantum thinkers do have a weakness that you have to keep in mind: They argue. If we equipped every ship with one, our individual ship prowess might be improved, but they'd argue on how to carry out fleet-scale orders.

Quantums on our command/flag ships and standards everywhere else is the way to go.
>>
>>39024369
I think we should re-brand our parasites as symbotes and never refer to them as parasites again. Better for PR.
>>
>>39024591

There is only one constant in The Hive.

"WE DO THING FOR MOTHER!"
>>
>>39024532
Well, wait. With the use of what looks like a small hyper gate on Ceph homeworld, it's possible they only know a rendesvous point.

>>37033972
> a decently sized chamber. Wires and power conduits flow into a device in the center of the room. "The other side will be dry, hold your breath and wait."
>The device hums with energy, and a sphere of darkness grows in the center. It draws in the water around it and he can feel himself being pulled in. The contact has strapped himself to a console, and Coil passes by in a panic of thrashing tentacles and vibrant color flashes. He falls into the sphere and there is nothing-

Which would mean at some point, a long time ago, Ceph criminals managed to get offworld and trade with the Valen for a hypergate that they then smuggled back to their world. But didn't necessarily tell them where it was. And so they just use a rendesvous point to teleport to and from it without void shards.

>>39024596
We talk about them to literally nobody.

Seems to be the general consensus. Ships cut off from your mental connection will attempt to complete their current given task, and will return upon completion. Due to the individual capacity of free thought Quantum brains posses, they may adjust or bend the instructions given in order to more effectively perform their duty, or in the event that their task becomes impossible.

>>39024515

>>
>>39024631
But Theseus isn't 200% autism by design. He can accept he's wrong without having to be browbeaten by others.

You're essentially saying that because well adjusted, open minded adults can argue to a resolution about a course of action, that autistic dog-intellect alien brains can do the same.
>>
>>39024671
Why would it bite us in the ass? We're never going to tell them about the parasites.
