>I’m sorry.
>I’ll be more careful next time.

You exit the nightmare, the world coming back into focus as you look at a very surprised child whose eyes are wide and just about pop out as Beth and Kat appear behind you. His mother tugs him along when she notices he’s stopped moving which ends up with him being more dragged off. You swear you could see the glee in his eyes before he disappears around a couple cars.

You suppress a smile as you start walking back towards Beth’s car, “I’m sorry. I’ll be more careful next time.”

“That’s… good enough,” Beth sighs having not seen the child, though a quick glance to Kat reveals an amused smile on her face.

You all fall into almost an awkward silence as you head for the vehicle, though really on your part its more thinking about what to do than anything else.

>Explore the town, its nice enough outside.

Also, Shadow Alex mentioned Beth talking to her shadow to keep the change:

“You know,” you break the silence and glance to Beth, “Shadow Alex mentioned not too long ago that you might be able to talk to your shadow to keep that.”

Beth looks down at herself, “What of working out with you?”

“Do you really think you can just get in shape once and be done with it..?” You ask smiling, “That takes maintenance, just like everything does.”

She bites her lip thinking on it, “I’ll have to think about it…”

“I’m not saying you should, just thought you might want the option,” you shrug, and turn around to face Beth and Kat, “Anyways, I was thinking since we’ve already done a lot and its not even dinner yet, why don’t we just relax?”

Kat nods in agreement, as she suppresses a yawn.

“I was wondering when you were going to tire out,” Beth says with a smile, “I’m okay with that, just have to remember to leave to get home in time.”

“Set an alarm on your phone,” you suggest, “Besides I didn’t tire out, just its been busy lately.”

“So you tired out?” Beth asks with a teasing smile, while pulling out her phone and setting an alarm.

“Sure, we’ll go with that,” you chuckle giving in, almost walking past the park’s parking lot.

“I don’t think thats possible,” Kat looks doubtful, “I mean she’s always ready to go do whatever.”

You start to say you can get tired, but realize there’s no winning here, so you just shrug.

“Alex just hides it well by tiring everyone else out first,” Beth says as she unlocks the car and flinches away from the heat that rolls out.

You hop in the front as usual, braced for the heat thankful that Beth quickly turns on the car. Not that it helps much now but the sooner it cools down the better.

Kat hums, “I wonder if that’s actually your plan?”

You shrug glancing to the back seat as Beth pulls out of the parking lot heading for your house, “Well calling it a plan is a bit of a stretch.”

Kats silent for a moment as she thinks before shrugging.

The ride home is short, its late enough that your parents are home, dinner likely will start being made before too long if you wanted to have a hand in that. You could always play games, or even take a nap.

“I think I’m going to make some lasagna,” you say as you start getting out of the car, Kat happily moving to open the door.

“Again?” your pet asks, looking back at you, “Didn’t we just have that a couple days ago?”

“Well yeah, but if we are going to start eating healthy, we might as well finish this day with a bang,” you shrug heading for the kitchen.

Beth sits at the counter, “Well I’m not complaining.”

You chuckle as you dig through the cabinets looking for the ingredients, thankfully there's enough left over to make a decent sized pan.

Kat ends up joining Beth at the counter as you start to get to work, thankfully the prep work is simple to accomplish and you throw it into the oven to bake. When you turn back to Beth and Kat you see your father already sitting at the table.

You chat with your friends as it cooks, keeping an eye on it through the convenient window. When you pull it out its a beautiful color and a mouthwatering smell, you set it on the stove and let it sit barely resisting the urge to take a bite.

When it’s cooled enough to eat you cut the first piece and put it on a plate that quickly disappears. You glance around, your father didn’t do it though you can see he was trying with an out stretched hand, Beth, Kat and your Mother all in a line behind him.

”Don’t worry I made sure we got the first piece,” Shadow Alex explains the disappearance.

“Ah,” you say aloud, before serving everyone in turn and another for yourself. You sit down at the table, and take a bite. It’s quite possibly the best lasagna you’ve ever had, the way it practically melts in your mouth.

“Alex, you can cook from now on,” your mother says in between bites.

Your father is already getting up for another piece.

“This food has spoiled me,” Kat says after a while, “I don’t think I could eat what I used to any more.”

“The really bad thing is,” Beth says as she finishes, “I come here and eat Alex’s food and have to go home and eat something not even close. I mean the food is good but this is cheating.”

“I just wish I could do this reliably,” you say with a sigh.

“You seem to do a pretty decent job of it,” Beth points out.

You shrug as you finish up your plate leaving you with a full stomach, Kat is of similar sentiment as she sinks into her chair.

Beth seems like she’s debating getting another piece, before finally deciding against it.

You lean back in you chair and rub your stomach, “I think a nap would be nice after that.”

“Yeah, or just sleep,” Kat says as hesitantly starts to get out of her chair.

Beth frowns, “I don’t really nap well.”

“It’s fine I’ll set my alarm and wake you up before you have to go,” you reassure her as you stand up, stretching, leaving the dishes on the table. You frown at that realizing you need to do them.

“Don’t worry about it, since you cooked I’ll wash the dishes,” your mother waves you off, much your relief.

“Thanks,” you say as you head for your room.

Beth still looks a bit skeptical, “You sure you’ll wake up?”

“Yeah, I sleep light, and cheat a little,” you say thinking of Shadow Alex, “Just a little.”

“How do you cheat at that?” Beth asks, confused.

“Trade secret,” you say, smiling as Kat flops down into bed, kicking off her shoes and rolling over to give you and Beth some room.

Beth takes her shoes off, before climbing in under the covers, while you set an alarm for an hour. You pull your shoes off before following Beth, and sliding up to her side wrapping your arms around her, idly feeling the tone over her body.

Kat’s done the same thing on the other side, just with less groping. You lay there, slowly drifting off to sleep, enjoying the moment...

You wake up to the sensation of falling as Beth scrambles over, the fall is short and your butt takes the brunt of it. You look to your alarm clock and see it’s pretty not on, you furrow your brows at that as Beth scrambles to put her shoes on.

“What time is it?” You ask slightly confused.

“Like ten minutes before I have to be home,” Beth hurriedly says, “I thought you said you’d wake up?”

“Can’t wake up when the alarms off,” you stand up and follow her out towards the door, Kat still sleeping happily.

“Why is it off though?” Beth grumbles as she opens the door, before turning around and giving you a quick hug.

You return the hug, before shrugging, “Have no clue, would have to look.”

”Beth in her sleep pulled the plug,” Shadow Alex explains, ”Her phone vibrating woke her up though I think.”

Beth hurriedly making her way to her car after breaking the hug with you, “Sorry for knocking you out of bed, but I panicked.”

“No worries,” you say waving her off with an amused smile at Shadow Alex’s comment.

Beth quickly starts her car and pulls out, taking off a bit faster than she should. Hopefully she doesn’t get a ticket on the way.

You close the front door as her car disappears, heading back inside wondering if you should just go back to sleep or doing something else.

You head back to your room, already missing the warm feeling of the bed. Kats moved over to where you usually lay, fruitless searching in her sleep for you. It makes you wonder exactly how she ends up waking up, if its just her falling off the bed or realizing that you’ve left it at some point.

You reach down and pat her head, smiling as she gets a warm smile on her face. After a moment you take a look at your alarm clock and realize she just pulled the plug out, easy to fix and after resetting the time and alarms you climb into bed.

It’s thankfully still warm due to Kat, and sleep comes quickly.

You dream of Beth being kidnapped by some greedy dragon, you quickly rush off to save her with your trusty friend and pet Kat. It’s a tough fight with a couple distractions of beautiful women along the way but you come out on top with Beth rescued and you in her arms.

You wake up there with a bit of a confused feeling, you glance towards your alarm clock and see that its 6AM Friday. You could go back to sleep for a bit, or get up and do something.

You carefully slip out of bed, stretching as you do, feeling around for your shoes before putting them on. Not having bothered to remove your socks… or even get undressed at all really. The air’s a little chilly, at least compared to the warm bed as you carefully open your door and close it trying to not make a sound.

As you make your way through the house you see your father sitting at the table with a piece of toast and cup of coffee as he watches the clock. As you pass by he glances at you, “Morning.”

“Good morning,” you say back to him as you make your way towards the back door. You open it up and find that its already starting to get muggy, especially with the morning dew on the grass and grimace.

You step out into the yard, grateful the sun isn’t up yet to start baking everything and say, “Shield of glass, spear of light; Break now, mirror, aid my fight!”

You’re surprised when a mirror appears before you, showing your magical girl outfit instead of your shorts and tank top. Nothing happens for a moment leaving you confused until you feel a need to reach out and touch the mirror.

As you contact with the cool surface it shatters and forms into your book of mirrors. A glance down at yourself reveals that you’ve transformed.

Shadow Alex speaks up, a bit of excitement in her voice, ”Just remember I can always help if you need it. Anything is possible when we work together, you know?”

‘Let’s see how this works out first,” you say, not wanting to meaninglessly use up shadow credits.

Shadow Alex is silent as you start to pull on the ambient darkness in the world focusing on your ability to take enemy’s attacks and store them. You pull more than you handle, though with this ability you realize you have to lose control to even begin to use it.

You go through the motions of the spell, pulling out a pair of mirrors and throwing them before you, focusing on how exactly the magic flows. You realize that you were basically creating the spell twice, once for each mirror and had a bit of redundant difficulty there as a result.

It’s not something thats particularly difficult to fix, something you’ll have to keep in mind for next time you cast it. You let the spell fade, along with your transformation.

Your usual transformation is back as your magical girl outfit explodes off of you returning your clothes to you, the one mote of darkness harmlessly flowing into you. That hardly took anytime at all you realize as your father’s still at the table when you walk in, no toast though.

>>39003748
Well we do have +2 to cooking skill, though I've no idea how that affects the result of the d100 roll
>>
God damnit the eggs are gonna be runny. I fucking hate it when my eggs end up runny cause I was distracted
>>
>>39003761
On skill rolls it shifts the scale of success by 10, or 20 in the case of +2

Instead of adding to the roll, the minimum result of someone with a +2 would be 21 instead of the other end where on a 1d100+20 it would be 1

Long story short, 43 with +3 is better than the average person cooking on an average day.
>>
>>39003769
Personally I dislike it if the yolk is still fluid.
Everything needs to be that squishy texture.
>>
>>39003790
Oh thank god, fuck runny eggs
>>

Heathens, you wipe up all the runny part of the egg with the bread afterwards, and you get delicious eggy bread.
>>
Hmm... question for you lot.

Scotch Eggs. Yes or no?
>>
>>39003832
If that's what I wanted I'd make fucking french toast, when I make eggs I want eggs
>>
>>39003839
looks weird. Never had them, though.
If the meat is properly seasoned it could be good.
>>
>>39003854
Looks weird? Kinda curious as to why you say that.
>>
>>39003906
They just look weird to me.
An egg is already pretty big to me. Wrapping it with meat doesn't help much. It's mostly the size that seems weird. I don't like food that looks bigger than my fist, I guess.

>Cook breakfast

You head into the kitchen, and pull out some slices of ham and eggs enough for Kat, your mother, and yourself. You were going to cook some for your father but stopped as he stands up and says quietly as he passes by the kitchen, “Have a good day.”

“You too,” you say a bit too focused to say much more as you work. You try to make it as healthy as you can while not skimping out on flavor, considering its eggs and ham its pretty easy to accomplish.

Before long you have everything ready and you're about to serve it when you noticed Kat’s holding a plate already. She sleepily says, “Good morning.”

“Sleep well?” You ask as you serve her, then yourself. You leave the food in the pan and cover it for your mother incase she sleeps in a bit so its easier for her to reheat.

Kat nods as she takes the plate to the table, you following just behind her. It’s an enjoyable meal, a bit on the leaner side of things but you did mention you were going to do that yesterday so you suppose you’ll have to get used to it.

You look to the clock and see that its about 7AM now. Any normal person, that doesn’t work anyways, is likely still asleep. Though you think Beth likely will be over around nine to go running, so you have a couple hours to kill.

This I think is the last update for me tonight. Will try to be up by around 2 tomorrow and continue running then.

>>

perhaps we shouldn't?

I rather talk to him about what he does before going around poking at his stuff. Plus there was that comment from Alex's mother regarding doing what he does as job in the future or something along those lines.

But really lets not poke at shit we don't know anything about.
>>
>>39004089
>>Play games for a while. (Time skip)
thanks for the thread Hap
>>
>>39004146
Well what do you suggest then?
I feel like we're heading from one time skip to the other. Only thing we did was cook.
I want to do something interesting and possibly dangerous.
By only doing stuff that's "safe" we will never do something fun. Take some risks!
>>
>>39004176
Honestly we take enough risk hunting demons every damn day. Hell we after two in one day.
>b-but those are easy!
And then the dice were kill.

Plus the last thing I want to see is automated defense that casts Lighting Blot at someones face.

I would like to learn more about the whole magic system that's in place. And what Alex's mom found out from that dinner party thing. If anything.
>>
>>39004194
It's not that the demons are easy. It's that Alex is overpowered. If something goes wrong there's still a ton of SC to just nuke that demon.

And Alex's dad would never do something as dangerous as putting automated defenses into his own house!
Worst thing that could happen would be an automatic notification and him noticing that Alex is snooping around.

I don't like always taking every option to make something more secure. It just slows everything down.
>>
>>39004285
So you rather just simply cause more problems for yourself instead of taking two minutes to ask some questions that would most likely be answered? Really? You would risk things or people that simply don't need to be risked because 'it's too slow' to ask? Christ.

>And Alex's dad would never do something as dangerous as putting automated defenses into his own house!

Wizard. Any wizard worth a damn would have multiple layers of defense from passive to active. They would cover as much of their bases as possible.
>>
>>39004314
Snooping around is fun.
>>
>>39004322
>fun
>subjective

And I find learning about the world from people to be fun. Taking what they experience and seeing if it matches to what I would experience to be fun.
>>
>>39004314
You are confusing time with pacing. I meant the pacing of the story is getting slowed down if we take every precaution ever.
Pacing is important if you want to tell a story.

Also the wizard you mention is what I would classify as maniac. Covering yourself in thorns is good defense, but it hurts those that just want to hug you.
>>
>>39004485
There will be times when the story dictates to us that moving now is better than later. And right now there is no reason to move now beyond 'because I want action!' Or because 'we always have to be doing something!' Both reasons are utter shit to move. Not every decision needs to be grand and have meaning to it.

>maniac
Please. Maniac would be a wizard that puts spell that sends people to different dimensions with no hope of escape for touching something. Having it cast a Lighting Blot is just being cautious and sane idea to do when protecting items/things of worth.

Random note by the by, does no one remember when dad mentioned making mistakes while you still can or something like that?

Surprised it wasn't brought up here considering it was only a few(tm) threads back.

>Play games for a while. (Time skip)

You stand up grabbing your plate as you head to the sink, Kat following after with her own. The two of you quick rinse them and put it in the dishwasher for later.

“We’ve got a couple hours to kill before people are even alive,” you say glancing to the clock, despite already knowing the time.

Kat yawns before leaning into you and resting there, “Why do you always get up so early?”

You shrug, “I just do,” you rest your chin on top of her head as you hug her feeling almost smug about it, “Lets go kill some time with games yeah?”

Kat doesn’t move, instead holding on tighter, before finally letting go and nodding, “Yeah okay.”

You head to your room booting up and logging into your computer, you consider showing her a new game but decide to just stick with what she’s already played since she enjoyed it.

Before long the two of you are progressing through a lot quicker than last time, though Kat’s a little disgruntled that it doesn’t save progress. You make it a little further than last time when you hear the doorbell ring.

“Can we leave it just paused..?” Kat asks as you get up.

You smile, “Well, yeah I suppose. I’ll be right back.”

Kat nods and you head for the door, only to find your mother already answering it, “Good morning, Beth. Come on in, I’ll go get Alex.”

“No need,” you say as your mom steps aside to let her in, you note that she’s wearing shorts and a tank top. She’s also got a small bag, likely some spare clothes to change into after the run, and that she’s no longer toned.

“Morning, Alex,” your Mom smiles as she looks at you, “Didn’t even bother changing clothes from yesterday, I see.”

“Hey, sleep well?” you say ignoring your mother’s taunts, “And morning to you as well.”

“Yeah, decided against keeping it,” Beth says gesturing at herself as you head back towards your room.

“Hey Alex, when you get a moment later today come see me, alright?” Your mother asks, as she sits down to watch the news.

>Actually, Beth you mind waiting in my room for a bit?
>It’ll be later, but I’ll keep it in mind.

“It’ll be later, going to go run,” you shrug, “I’ll keep it in mind though.”

“That’s all I ask,” she says as you head to your room to collect Kat.

Kat has taken the time to change into some of your old basketball shorts and a T-shirt, it almost looks ridiculous on her now that you really think about it, due to just how oversized it is. Maybe you should get around to adjusting some of it so she doesn’t look like she’s swimming in clothes, and struggling to keep her shorts on.

Well… you aren’t too positive you mind the last half, you smile at that thought, “Good to go then?”

Kat nods, and Beth looks you over, “You’re not about to run in that are you..?”

You shake your head, even shuddering a bit as you imagine the chafing that would cause, “Nah, I change quickly though so it’s fine.”

”I change your clothes for you quickly,” Shadow Alex corrects as she gropes your chest, straying a bit towards the rough side before swapping out your clothes for running shorts, a sports bra and t-shirt.

‘Thanks,’ you smile as Beth shakes her head.

“That is still really weird to watch clothing just disappear and reappear on you,” she says as you all head for the front door, leaving your computer running.

You shrug, “You’ll get used to it eventually though, right?”

“Maybe,” Beth admits, as you step out into the heat.

“What are we doing today?” Kat asks as she shields her eyes.

Look, I'm really sorry. It's just not happening today, my focus isn't there and its just not writing well.

I've made jack all progress because it all feels very forced and very wrong. Or on the other hand very just time skip generic shit and I want to give you something better than that for your time.

I think I'm going call it for today, and hold off running until I get refills on medication. I didn't realize how important that was to my focus.

As usual for the end of threads I'll be around for a bit if you want to ask things.

I wanna see Alex and SA giving Beth a striptease by slowly undressing each other.

Also, go get some rest and your drugs. Looking forward to next time.
