After finishing off the dragon in the latest tunnel, you take a moment to look over your party. You’re all getting a bit beat up in the process of moving through these tunnels, and you’re not even sure how close you were to the top.

Jenna did have Jirachi with her, so she should be safe, but you were wondering why she hadn’t wished herself back to you.

You couldn’t worry about it now though; you needed to figure out your next move.

>Continue along through the caverns quickly (1d20)
>Take a quick break to heal up your group somewhat before proceeding
>Take a longer break to rest up more fully

Deciding that taking a quick rest would be prudent, you and Riolu use your healing abilities to shore up the rest of your party.

>Riolu HP 20/25
>Frogadier HP 25/25
>Shelgon HP 40/50

Once everyone is feeling bit better, you push onward, heading further into the caves to try and reach the peak.

Once you're all set, you start off once more. You've wasted enough time as it is.

As you head deeper into the caverns, the wild monsters start giving you a bit more resistance, though it's nothing your group can't handle. The tunnels are getting a bit more open, though they still twist and wind their way through the mountain.

Just as you round a corner, you spot something nearby, luckily calling your party to a halt in time. Glancing at it again, you see a dragon, this one dark black in color. You remember Lisa mentioning this in one of her stories earlier. It was a Hydreigon, highly territorial and very dangerous.

Unfortunately, you could also spot some light shining from behind it. You couldn't be sure, but it might be an exit.

It doesn't seem to have spotted you yet, but it is moving this way.

>Charge forward and break past it

You consider whether you should try and find a way around it, or if you should risk trying to rush past it. You couldn't be sure that there was another exit nearby, but then again charging it could end badly.

As you debate it internally, a sudden roar alerts you, and a blast of fire scorches out towards your group. It seems the Hydreigon had discovered you while you were thinking. The blast shoots straight for you, though Frogadier deftly leaps in the way to intercept the blast. However, his spray of bubbles does little to block the flames, and he takes the blast directly while the flames spray outward in all directions.

>Riolu HP 15/25
>Shelgon HP 35/50

You draw your sword as it roars once more, picking up Frogadier and throwing him over your shoulder. The rest of your party starts taking defensive stances as well, getting ready to fight.

You try to get Frogadier settled on your shoulder, though the weight is rather distracting. Lisa springs back while firing off a few dragon tooth arrows, which strike deeply into its right head, causing it to cry out in pain.

Shelgon starts exhaling fire back at it, though its left hand retaliates with a burst of its own, the two streams halting eachother.

With its central head, it starts building a strange purple energy in its mouth, before firing a stream of force directly towards you. Unable to dodge away with Frogadier on your shoulder, you raise your blade to try and deflect the blast.

Moments before impact, Riolu leaps in front of you, arms raised to try and block the blast. You watch as the small dog is enveloped by the purple glow, though after a few moments it becomes a bright white, and then blue. The intensity forces you to avert your eyes, though as you look back, Riolu isn't lying defeated, but you spot something else standing where he once stood. It seems Riolu has transformed as well, you see him smile as he tentatively shakes his newly lengthened limbs, before rushing towards the Hydreigon.

It reels back for a blast of flame once again, though 'Riolu' dodges the worst of it and deflects the lest using a burst of aura from his palms. Leaping up, he brings his arms around in a circle, as he did in his previous form, though now the strikes are particularly dangerous thanks to the large spikes on the back of his paws.

Hydreigon is in pretty bad shape now, one of its heads is down, and the other two are betraying its pain. It lets out another shriek before rushing in once more.

Hydreigon lashes out towards Lucario, though he dodges out of the way. Unfortunately, Shelgon was nearby behind him, getting bitten for his troubles.

>Shelgon HP 30/50
>Lucario HP 30/35

Fortunately, this gives the rest of your group the opportunity to strike. Lisa lands several shots with her arrows, while Lucario lands a few more punches and kicks. Sylveon rushes in and strikes as well, and under the combined assault, Hydreigon lets out a final cry before crashing to the ground.

Lucario moves over to you, placing a paw on your shoulder, 'You okay?' you hear in your head.

"Yeah, I think so," you reply, before realizing what just happened, "Wait, you can talk?"

'I can?' Lucario asks, blinking in confusion, "I can!" He smiles happily, leaping up as he does so.

"Anyway, we still need to find Jenna," you say, "Let's get moving."

'Right," he nods.

With that, you head down the hall towards the light, finding yourselves outside a few moments later. From there, it's only a short distance along a trail leading you to the top.

Up here, there's a flat area covered with grass and rocks. Towards the far end you spot what seems to be a small crystal structure, and looking closely you see Jenna huddled inside of it. She doesn't seem to have noticed you. However, perched on top of it is a strange looking metallic bird, which it clawing and pecking at the surface.

The creature turns and spots you, letting out a shrill cry while fanning out its wings.

"It's okay, we don't want any trouble," you say. Those blades on its wings looked a lot like the one on your glaive. It was probably the same type of monster, and you really didn't want to deal with it right now.

The bird screeches once more, eying you cautiously, beating its wings.

You fish out some food from your pack, trying to catch the bird's attention with it. It perks up at the sight, batting its wings once to move closer. Once you're certain that it's after the food, you give it a good toss to your side, sending it to a corner of the clearing. The monster quickly flaps its wings and pursues the meal, snapping it out of the air before perching on a rock, digging into the meat.

While it's distracted, you move over to where Jenna is, carefully avoiding some of the sharp scraps of metal littered around the area. Once you reach the other side, you get a better look at the crystal.

It seems to be fairly solid, without even a scratch from where the bird was attacking it earlier. Jenna is inside, clutching Jirachi, eyes shut while curled up. She doesn't seem to be moving, and you're not sure she can even hear you right now.

As you place your hand on the crystal, wondering how to open it, Jirachi suddenly glows in her arms, and the crystal suddenly shatters into a fine dust, which fades into the breeze. Jenna blinks her eyes open a few seconds later, before noticing you and standing.

"Ceil!" she says, leaping up to hug you, "I was so scared! The peak was really pretty, but then that bird came out of nowhere so I told I asked Jirachi to keep me safe until you came to save me and you did! Thank you!" She's speaking rather quickly, though she seems to be fine. You lead her back over to the others, noticing that the metal bird is almost done with its meal.

"Woah!" Jenna exclaims, eyes lighting up as she notices Lucario, "Riolu got bigger!"

'Yeah' Lucario nods, 'Everything seems small now.'

"You can talk now too?" Jenna beams, fascinated with his new form.

Before he can reply, however, Skarmory screeches at you once more. It seems he's out of food. You try tossing a bit more, but he doesn't seem hungry anymore, just angry that you're still here. He flies over the the far side of clearing, though continues watching you intently.

You head over to the metal bird once again, though to convince him this time you instead reach out with your aura, communicating your request. The feedback you get is strange and mixed, and a sudden cry breaks your focus. Opening your eyes though, you spot the bird flying off.

It seems you had a moment to yourselves on the peak after all. The view was rather magnificent. You could easily spot the capital, as well as the mountain ranges further to the east. Your party takes a break to help recuperate from your rush up here, and you give Frogadier some healing to get him back on his feet.

Heading over to Jenna first, you decide to ask her for some details on what happened.

"Well, I was really freaked out by those spiders, so I kinda panicked since I really wanted to see the peak," she explains, hugging Jirachi closely, "Then when I got here the view was really pretty, but that bird tried to attack me out of nowhere. So then I wished for Jirachi to protect me until you showed up, and I guess that's what it did. It was kind of like being asleep."

"I was really worried," you say, "But I'm glad your safe. I was wondering why you didn't just wish yourself back to us though."

"Why didn't I think of that..." she mumbles, "Anyway, thanks for going through all that trouble just for me."

"Don't mention it," you smile, giving her a pat on the head before heading over to Lucario. He seems to be going through a few slow motions of his normal practice routine, trying to get a feel for his new size.

"So, congratulations on your new form," you begin, "How are you feeling?"

'Different, but strong," he says after contemplating for a moment, 'Liked being small. Aura sight also kinda fuzzy now.'

"Well, do you need anything?" you ask, wondering what you could do to help.

'More practice,' he nods in reply, before going back to his motions.

Finally, you head over to Lisa, who is sitting by a rock gazing towards the east. You give her a quick hug as you approach from behind.

"Doing alright?" you ask, moving to sit beside her.

"Fine. A bit tired though," she sighs, "I wasn't expecting to blow through the entire mountain in one day like that."

"Yeah, it's worth it for this view though. Plus those new arrows you made came in handy."

"You noticed?" she smiled, "I used a couple of the poison arrows on that Hydreigon's head. Good thing it was enough to stop it from moving."

"That thing was really dangerous. I'm just glad we got through it okay."

"Yeah, I think-" she starts before pausing, "Wow, those clouds showed up really fast." She points to the mountains in the distance, and indeed storm front seems to have brewed rather quickly on the horizon. It seems to flash occasionally with lightning as well.

"That's really strange. I didn't notice anything a second ago."

"Not good." you suddenly hear a voice in your head say, turning to see Jirachi floating just behind you, "Really not good."

"What is it Jirachi? What's wrong?"

"Someone woke him up," she frowns, "He's always cranky when he gets woken up."

"Wait, is that storm caused by a monster?" you ask. You've heard of monsters that can change the weather, but that's a massive storm. How powerful would that thing have to be?

Jirachi nods, "Never met him. Only heard stories. None good."

"Can you wish us up a picture or something so we know what you're talking about?" Lisa asks, just as puzzled as you.

Jirachi blinks, then glows for a moment before a heavy tome appears in her scarves. She nimbly flips through the pages, before stopping on one entry and turning the page towards you.

It's an artist's rendition of a large black bird, and reading through the page your recall this from some of your studies. Legends of a crimson beast whose wings sow death. A creature known by many names, though his true one was Yveltal.

As you look back to the horizon, the clouds were starting to swirl about, flashing with lightning as the moved.

"Ceil," Lisa asks, fright clear in her voice, "What do we do?"

"Well, looks like Thomas is going to get to meet two legends instead of one," you chuckle, trying to hide your nervousness, "Jirachi, can't you do something about this though?"

"Dunno," she replies, looping about, "Never tried to stop another. Big wish for sure though. Papa might get mad too..."

"Well, for now, we should at least get to the capital and warn someone," you say, "Jirachi, I wish we were all at the capital!"

"That's tough," she smiles, "Still a small one though." Jirachi starts to glow, and a few moments later, a bright flash of light envelops the area, and you feel yourself being lurched forward.

When the light fades, you find yourself slumped over on a wooden floor, in a rather lavishly decorated library. Glancing about, you see a man standing nearby. He's has a rather young face, with dark hair. He's wearing deep purple robes and a set of reading glasses.

"Well, usually I prefer that guests knock before entering though I suppose you didn't use the door," he muses, "Now tell me, what are three children, a gaggle of monsters, and the legendary wishmaker doing in my private study?"

"Well, we were on top of the mountain just to the east," you begin, "Then we noticed some clouds in the mountains to the east. Jirachi told us it was this," you pause, pulling out the book and the page with Yveltal, "So we had her teleport us to the capital. Speaking of which, where in the capital are we, and who might you be?"

He nods along as you tell your story before speaking, "Well, you're certainly in the capital. In fact, you could not be more squarely in it, as this is the royal palace. As for who I am, I suppose it's difficult without the crown, but surely I'm not that unrecognizable?"

He waits for a moment, but sighs as it seems you don't know him.

"Ah, well such is life. Lumi! Fetch my crown would you?" he calls out. A few moments later, a small feline monster strides out from behind a bookshelf, a metallic crown floating in front of it. It's forehead glows as it lifts it up and onto the man's head, where he then fixes it in place, "There, that should help."

"My goodness!" Lisa gasps, "You must be...you're..."

"Finally, someone recognizes me," he laughs, "Though if you'll allow me to introduce myself. It's so rare I get the chance." He gives a slight bow, "King Jean-Michal the Second. A pleasure."

"Wait, you're THE King?" you say, not sure how to react.

"Indeed," he says, removing his crown once more, "Anyway, now that the formalities are out of the way, it seems we have much to discuss..."

You haven't seen the king before in person, and most of the pictures you've seen have been ornate paintings in which he's dressed up a bit too much to recognize.

>>38961628
Well, you have a legendary monster, and he knows you aren't assassins, since you're two teenagers and a little girl. Currently, he has a fairly good impression of you all.
>>
>>38961573
So I assume a bunch of kids and pokemon use a legendary pokemon to teleport into his study in the middle of the night often?

Was the Papa Jirachi spoke of Arceus?

Also, I wonder if he'd be opposed to letting us mate his Espeon to Sylveon so everyone can have Eevees.

Also, I'm glad it's Yveltal and not an actual threat that got woke up. The XY Legendaries were kind of serious pushovers, you know? Could you image if it was something serious like Deoxys or Rayquaza?

Also, Medi can we have a side adventure where we meet a Hoopa and get teleported to like Pokemon Conquest, or one of the games? That'd be awesome for a "Movie" edition of the thread.
>>
>>38961678
>Currently, he has a fairly good impression of you all.
He recognized Jirachi. He probably knows you have to be pure of heart to wake it up and since it's not trying to escape from us, we didn't forcibly capture it or something.
>>
>>38961689
>So I assume a bunch of kids and pokemon use a legendary pokemon to teleport into his study in the middle of the night often?

No, but he has a lot of practice staying calm in strange situations.

>Was the Papa Jirachi spoke of Arceus?

Yep. Still probably won't end up going into detail on that.

>Also, I wonder if he'd be opposed to letting us mate his Espeon to Sylveon so everyone can have Eevees.

That's not the sort of thing you should ask a king. It'd be better to find someone else.

>Also, I'm glad it's Yveltal and not an actual threat that got woke up. The XY Legendaries were kind of serious pushovers, you know? Could you image if it was something serious like Deoxys or Rayquaza?

Legendaries are closer to forces of nature than just high base stat powerhouses. It's not the sort of thing you can just beat up.

>Also, Medi can we have a side adventure where we meet a Hoopa and get teleported to like Pokemon Conquest, or one of the games? That'd be awesome for a "Movie" edition of the thread.

Maybe. I'd have to think of something good to do with it though

>>38961710
Yeah. That too. Basically, he knows that you don't mean him harm, and he also knows that what you're saying is important.
>>

>Legendaries are closer to forces of nature than just high base stat powerhouses. It's not the sort of thing you can just beat up.
Aw, that means we're going to need another legendary to fight it and Xerneas sucks. Give us something cool we can use to kick it's ass please, Medi.

I wonder if Mega Salamence could do it, that thing is broken OP enough to kick the shit out of a legendary.
>>
>>38961904
Well, there are quite a few different legends you could try to use instead. Xerneas would just be the easiest.

And to answer another question up thread, Mega-evolutions are a thing in this universe, but it's not going to be easy to pull off.
>>
>>38961573
Thanks for running Medi.

I look forward to the next one, so happy Riolu finally evolved. Also we need to praise Frogadier for taking the hit for us.
