Last time on Space Marine:
You had some bad dreams and you were told to rest up until Emily says you can go do missions.
---
You quietly begin to wake up as you look out of your window to see on your clock that it is almost 6:30 in the morning. It feels like you overslept, but Emily did say to get a bit more rest than you were used to .

>To hell with it, time to get up and get the day started.
>She did say to rest, a few minutes more.

You take the covers off your body as you roll out of bed. You take a quick kneel down and silently begin to pray. However, at the back of your mind, you know that you will be scolded by Emily if she catches you up so early.

>Days to rest:4
>Praying Bonus.

From outside, you can hear Emily talking to a sister of battle about her duties. The sister laughs a little bit and Emily laughs as well. What was so funny, you do not know. However, it would seem that one of them is leaving the infirmity and you do not know who it is.

As you open the door, you happen to see a sister you haven't seen for a very long time. It's Asalia and she seems tired. She picks up her helmet and examines it as you begin to make your way over to the door. You duck behind a create of medical supplies as she looks behind herself before looking back at her helmet.

"Emperor, I wish that I could sleep in this late..."

>Might as well talk to Asalia before leaving.

"N-Nameless?..."

>Long time no see, Asalia. How'r you doing?
>Is something wrong with your helmet?
>I'll be off, don't tell Emily.

"I-I'm doing good... I thought Emily said that you should be resting right now..."

Asalia puts her helmet down and devotes her attention at you. She still seems a little surprised and a little confused at seeing you here, especially with your arm.

>Don't tell Emily, but I'm going out right now.
>Well, I'll talk to you later.

You duck out of the doorway as you smile at Asalia.

"Uh... Good talk..."

You head outside and look to some of the guardsmen coming back from their guard shifts. Some of them are talking to each other before making their way over to the barracks. You see one guardsman clutching his arm and shaking his head.

"Can't believe it... Hurt my arm right before going to guard duty. Sarge is going to kill me..."

>Sucks to be that guardsman, moving on.

"Ah, very well... Then, I'll go back to my bunk."

"Ah, well I should have headed there first anyways. Thank you again, mi lord!"

The guardsman thanks you again as he runs off to the infirmary. He then stops and looks back to you.

"My post is at the gate this morning. I'll be relieved of duty around 2:00 sharp by a Private Maksin. She's pretty, uh what did my kids say... Square? But, she's a good kid, a by the books sort of gal. Thank you again!"

He runs off again, bumping into a wall and letting out a yell of pain before grunting out some curses.
---
You get over to the gate house and you are greeted by a grizzled old man with a pipe in one hand and a lasgun in the other. He looks at you and nods.

"Mi lord. What brings you here this fine morning?"

>I'm filling in for a guardsman.

"Ah, Old Jamsy must've hurt his arm again... Poor kid, boy has the tendency to hurt himself on interesting days."

The old man sits down and puts his lasgun down.

"Well, take a seat in the gatehouse and keep your eyes on the sensors. I'll be in after I take care of some last minute security measures. After all, I hear some of the command squad from the sisters of battle are here to inspect our posts to make sure we aren't at risk of anything bad happening. Ah, before I forget. There's an autopistol upstairs in the drawer with two clips, including the one in the gun. That's gonna hafta be your weapon for today."

>All I need is my wits and that's it.
>That's all I'll need.
>Wait, sisters are inspecting this place?

"Alright, mi lord, it's time to begin our duty."

"Huh, someone must've used it last night, I suppose... I'll check in with command really fast."

The guardsman reaches for the phone when an alarm goes off. He goes over to the sensors and growls.

"Bastards snuck through our patrols. Mi lord, I'm picking up some very large signatures outside. I read three large ones and five smaller ones. I reckon that they're here to scout us out."

You look in the auto pistol and find that you still have a full clip inside. You look outside and see that there is something crossing the ruined streets in front of the gatehouse.

>Guardsman, call for a space marine. We're going to need him.
>Guardsman, call for reinforcements. We might not need my brothers.

The guardsman slowly puts a pipe in his mouth and takes a small puff before turning to you.

"Is that how most space marines act like, mi lord? He sounded very angry when I said you had no name..."

>Must be Chaplain Davis then.

"I... I do not know, he picked up asked what I wanted. I thought that I had to-"

Just then, a bullet whizzes past the old guardsman and hits the wall behind him, causing pieces of debris to scatter around the gatehouse. Instinctively, you duck behind cover and look outside. You see two marine in red with some very big looking mutant standing behind them. Behind them, you see some civilians wearing hoods over their heads.

"We want him!"

The scream collectively as they begin to march forward.

You punch out the glass and you begin to take some pot shots out to the marines. You hear one grunt in pain and stop in his tracks before continuing onwards. You pop your head up a little bit to see that that marine has a small hole in his throat that is bleeding profusely. You check your ammo again and see that you're almost out. You see the guardsman trying to arm his lasgun but he keeps hitting the ammo pack.

"Confounded thing. Wish I had my hunting rifle..."

You hear the small whine of the lasgun powering up before the old guardsman pops up from cover and fires. You look to see the mutant beginning to limp.

"Might as well do what I can to the enemies I can hurt..."

>Aim for the one I just shot at, let's at least take one marine down.
>Keep firing at the mutant, no telling what mutant powers he has.

The old marine nods and pops up out of cover. You see him take in a large breath of air and then breath out. He doesn't even flinch when a bolt flies past him. He closes one eyes and pulls the trigger. You look out to the marine and see that he is now on his knees, a smoking dot between his eyes causing him to go cross eyed. The marine falls dead as the rest of the group marches past him. The guardsman ducks behind cover and pulls out another power pack.

"It'll be a while before I can do something like that again... I really hope your brothers can get here in time."

Just then, you begin to hear cursing coming from outside.

"I'll forgive him when he finally starts talking. 'Oh, look at me, I'm Nameless. I have a posse of sisters that look up to me like I'm the Emperor damned saint!' Nameless, I'm engaging the enemy if you're not dead!"

You see Chaplain Davis run past your gatehouse and towards the enemy. Then, you hear a yell before a large thump coming from the camp.

"And Brother Drasis is here to provide the jetpack fueled action!"

You then see a marine come smashing down from the skies before howling into the sky. He throws his bolt pistol to the side before taking up a boxing stance.

"If fists speak louder than words and yelling the loudest in an argument means that I'm winning said argument, then that means..."

The marine delivers a very strong right hook.

"I won the fight!"

You hear Chaplain Davis power up his plasma pistol before taking some shots into the mutant. The fight is over within moments.
---
"Well, well, looks like I can finally say I have a favor on you."

Davis crosses his arms in front of his chest as he kicks a dead corpse.

>Thank you Chaplain, I am in your debt.

Davis simply looks at you and then at the guardsman, then back at you.

"I hate you so much... Drasis, we're leaving."

Drasis picks up his bolt pistol and takes off his jetpack. He looks at you and gives you a thumbs up before looking back at Davis.

"What about the bodies?"

Davis looks back at the marine bodies and sighs.

"We'll dispose of the marine corpses correctly, wouldn't want their taint to infect the whole camp. As for the others, leave them. The rats ought to love us for feeding them such a buffet."

Drasis shrugs and quickens his pace to meet up with Davis. Then, Davis stops.

"So... I hear that Emily is turning the camp inside out looking for you. I ain't telling her crap about what happened here. Don't want to be involved in a lover's spat or something. So, I suggest you come up with an apology of some kind for making her worry."

"Yeah, I'll get a guardsman over here to cover for you, at least until she cools off."

Davis begins to walk away from you. The old guardsman smiles and relights his pipe.

"Well, if I know anything about women, it's that they like it when you say that they were right. That's how I ended most fights with my wife."

You smile a little bit as you walk towards camp. The guardsman walks back into the gatehouse and smiles.

"Good luck, mi lord!"

You wave at the old guardsman.
---
"Dammit all to hell! Where is he!? He's under my care and he just up and walked away after I told him not to! Ooooh, I don't give a damn if he's a marine or not, that man is going to get what's coming to him!"

You walk into the infirmary to see Hendrick and Ser watching Emily freak out in the infirmary. Hendrick looks back and smiles, trying to hold in some laughter. Ser immediately looks back to you and runs behind you.

"Meaaaan lady issss angry, Silent Oooone..."

Emily looks back to Ser.

"And I am not mean! YOU!"

She begins to walk towards you.

You bear most of the punishment, which is mainly verbal, until Emily finally gives up with a loud grunt.

"Fine... Give me your explanation."
---
You give her your explanation. Through it all you can see her loosen up a little bit as she finally sighs.

"Just... Tell me next time... I've never lost a patient before, so I'd rather not lose someone like you. Hendrick and Ser were here to see you too, so I'll leave you all to talk..."

Emily walks out of the infirmary slowly. She seems tired. Hendrick crosses his arms and chuckles.

"She went on forever about what she would do when she got her hands on you... Anyways, I assume you want to hear about how the battle goes... And it's not pretty, I'll tell you that."

Ser whimpers a little as he grabs your pants leg.

"Commander Balzer is apparently leading small skirmishes in order to break up the enemies lines... But every time we break a hole in their defenses, they literally fill it up with bodies... A lot of them were children and the elderly. But, it's strange, it's like they wanted to do it. Ser even said that they walked the same as well."
