You are CARLY, a prospective career criminal looking to make it big in the criminal underworld!

Currently, you were trying to hold in your sheer excitement. The Russian, one of the most powerful crime bosses in the world, was actually impressed with your performance and was personally inviting you to come to her main stomping grounds in Delta City, itself probably the cultural and economic center of the world.

Your sister Sam, though, was a little less enthusiastic. After all, Delta City was the first city to adopt the use of robotic police units, supplied by the dozens of megacorps that are headquartered in the city. As a result, petty street crime was a thing of the past. Only serious lawbreakers could really make it in such a hostile environment, but the fact that Delta City had the greatest concentration of wealth in the world was too good an opportunity for anybody to pass up.

"Oh boy oh boy oh boy! Can't wait!" You squeal.

"Stop it, Carly, you'll draw attention to yourself." Sam sighs as she looks up from the magazine she's reading. "Watch some TV, or better yet, do some damn research before we land. Delta City is a dangerous place, you know."

Booooooooring. Well, you had to admit that Sam had a point. Maybe you could waste some time or you know, actually READ. Then again, you should probably give Dad a call. He's probably worried sick that you haven't contacted him lately.

You decide to give a call to Dad. One of the ice things about First Class was free calls out no matter where you were. Seeing that Sam was distracted with her magazine, you pick up the phone receiver and dial in Dad's number. The phone rings a few times before finally, you hear a click and grunt.

"You got two seconds before I hang up." You hear a familiar, grumpy voice grunt.

Right, he didn't recognize the caller ID. He wasn't exactly a people person.

"Dad, it's me, Carly." You say.

"Carly!" Dad's voice immediately becomes much softer and more joyful, as if a switch were flipped. "How have you been doing? Is school going well?"

"Um, yeah." You laugh lightly. There was no way you could tell him what you were up to, at least not right now. You wouldn't put it above him to track you down and cane you like no tomorrow. He was the kind who did not tolerate mistakes, after all. "So how's retirement been treating you?"

"Oh, it's got its ups and downs. Things are a bit duller around here, but the upside is that I'm not getting shot at for a change." Dad says. "How's Sam doing?"

"Oh, she's doing fine!" You say cheerfully. "She's getting really good at that whole acting thing!"

"Good, good." Dad nods. "But be careful out there. I heard there's been a lot of crime going on."

"Oh, we'll keep an eye out." You laugh nervously, wondering if he suspected anything. "Don't worry! Anyways, gotta go!"

As you hang up the phone, you see Sam glowering at you.

"That was a bad idea." She grunts. "If we talk to him too much he might find out."

"What, do you want to just cut off all contact with him, then?" You retort.

"No, but- ugh, nevermind." Sam shakes her head. "Anyways, what do you want to do once we land? We'll have a bit of time before we need to meet up with the Russian."

"Let's just do a bit of completely legitimate shopping that is not illegal in any way whatsoever." You say.

"That's more like it!" Sam nods.

Suddenly, the entire craft shudders as it lands, bouncing on the runway a bit. Finally, the first leg of your journey was over.

"This is your captain speaking." The pilot says coolly over the intercom. "Welcome to Delta City. We will be disembarking shortly, so please stay seated until told otherwise, and have a great day."

About a half an hour later, you and Sam are outside the Delta City airport, slowly ambling your way towards one of the many, MANY malls scattered about in the area. It seems like the entire point of this city was to sell something, which you guess you shouldn't be surprised. This was a completely corporate owned city, after all.

You and Sam start milling about the stores. You both have more than enough spending money thanks to that little heist you pulled off back in LA. However, you don't see anything of particular note until you wander into a gunstore.

"OOOOOOOH." Sam's eyes widen as she literally almost presses her face against the glass. "IS THAT A MATEBA AUTOREVOLVER."

"Why, yes that is, Miss!" The clerk nods. "It's a genuine article, too. Not a reproduction!"

"Fuck. Yes." Sam turns to you, her arm outstretched asking for money. Geez, and she considered YOU the child!

And geez, for a revolver? For THAT kind of money?!

In most cases, not much. You ever go shooting? If you take care of your gun and feed it the right ammunition, you probably won't run into any problems. Last time I shot my XDS I went through 100 rounds and didn't have a single stoppage.
>>
>>38862439
Revolvers are useful in situations where you don't want to leave casings. And if you get a nagant with a cylinder that moves forward to seal with the barrel, it can be silenced as well.

Or you can go all Without Remorse on their asses and put a bag around the ejection port.

Oh, you couldn't resist eyes like those. You just smile and reach into your bag, grabbing several stacks of cash and plopping them in your sister's hand. Sam immediately drops the pile on the counter. The clerk doesn't say anything, merely raising his eyebrow. However, he's experienced, and smart, enough to know when to not ask questions. He quickly but quietly slides the bills into a shelf, and hands the Mateba autorevolver to Sam.

"I hope you enjoy your purchase." He says politely. "Would you like anything else?"

That reminds you. You needed a new piece, since obviously you and Sam had to leave behind all your regular heisting gear. You had to start from scratch.

"You got any handguns that are a bit more... modern?" You ask.

"Ah, we have plenty of those." The clerk nods and shows you another shelf, stocked with semi-automatics of all types and sizes.

Your eyes immediately pick out three frontrunners: the Chimano, the Interceptor, and the Deagle.

The Chimano was a decent utility gun. Small, light, and could carry a crap ton of bullets. However, it used basic 9mm, so stopping power could be a bit of an issue.

The Interceptor was a gun chambered for .45, giving it a much bigger punch. However, it had a much smaller magazine size, meaning each shot had to count.

The Deagle was a literal hand cannon. Built to fire .50 bullets, there wasn't exactly a lot that could stand up to it, but recoil and weight were going to be problematic.

It's a no brainer for you. You purchase the Interceptor. It was accurate, reliable, and could put a man down at almost any distance. Truly, it was God's gift to man.

Well, technically, that would be an original Colt 1911. But those things were rarer than even Matebas.

"Thank you for your purchase." The Clerk says politely as you hand him another stack of bills.

You and Sam both thank the clerk, only to turn and see the door blocked by a bunch of suited men in dark glasses.

"Um, did we accidentally run into a tux store?" You ask Sam.

"No, I think we're being paid a visit by the locals." Sam frowns.

"Perceptive." An older woman pushes her way through the suits, wearing a red dress suit and smoking an oversized cigar. However, it was her accent that gave her away as the Russian herself. "I figured I would let you two have a little fun, but there have been... developments."

"Developments?" You rise an eyebrow.

"All will be explained later." The Russian swiftly pivots on her hell and walks out, expecting you to follow her. Well, it's not like you and Sam really had much of a choice. The Russian leads you to a black limousine, and you enter in the back compartment with her. Your nose wrinkles as the car, regardless of how well it was cleaned, still reeked of cigar smoke and vodka.

"Okay, so what sort of developments are we talking about?" Sam asks.

"Well," The Russian sets her cigar aside for a second. "I had sent one of your prospective crew members on a mission to retrieve something that could be of value to me. Unfortunately, she appears to have gone missing."

"So, it's a rescue mission?" You ask.

"In a way, yes." The Russian gives you a wry smile. "While I have no doubt that she'll be able to handle the situation herself, I see it as a chance to show off your skills as a crew, yes?"

"I guess..." You concede. "What about our fourth?"

"You will meet your technician at the rendezvous." The Russian says simply. "She has already been briefed."

"What does she specialize in?" Sam asks. Always the curious one.

"Well..."

"Your technician has quite the hobby in drone development." The Russian grins. "A rare and valuable talent these days, especially at the rate the megacorps snap up prospective technicians."

"And do we have a name?" You ask.

"Well, that's something you can ask her yourself." The Russian grins as the limousine crawls to a stop. One of her bodyguards opens the doors for you and Sam and you both step out to see another girl presiding over a work bench, working on some sort of robotic unit. You notice that you're outdoors, in some sort of abandoned lot. The entire area was lit up with temporary floodlights, and a number of black sedans and suits were milling about. This appeared to be some sort of staging point.

"Lisa, I brought the rest of the crew." The Russian coughs to get the girl's attention.

"Huh, what? Oh!" The girl spins around. "Hey there! Name's Lisa, and I guess I'm gonna be your techie!"

"I'm Sam. The mastermind for this crew." Sam says as she shakes Lisa's hand.

"And I'm Carly, the enforcer." You grin as you point a thumb to yourself. "Need something broken, and I can break it, guaranteed!"

"Obviously." Lisa nods.

"Well, now." The Russian speaks up to grab all of your attention. "Now that you are all gathered here, we can begin."

"What exactly are we doing here?" Sam steps forward.

"The Tombs?" You ask, raising an eyebrow.

"Ah yes, you're not from around here." The Russian smirks. "It's what we call the ruins of Old Detroit, buried and forgotten under Delta City. It's a lawless and dangerous place, but one that can hide many treasures."

"That doesn't sound like a job for heisters." You frown.

"That is true, but it's a job for a CREW." The Russian stares hard at you. "What lengths would you go through to help a fellow crew member? This I would like to see."

"Hmmm..." Sam frowns. "I remember reading up a little about that place. It's pretty much a third world country down there, right?"

"Essentially."

Sam then turns to you.

"Carly, we might have to go light on this. I don't think that's a place we can afford to start big firefights. The people down there can be pretty vicious."

"All right." You nod, deferring to your sister's judgment. "I don't like going loud on short notice, anyways."

"That's what I thought." Sam nods and turns to Lisa. "Lisa, I assume you've got recon drones? Stealthy ones?"

"Duh." Lisa nods and points to a trio of small, spherical devices. "These little babies are flight capable and have passive stealth capability. They can give us an eye in the sky. Or, if you want, I can swap them out for one larger, weaponized one, packing a high power rifle for some sniper support. Gotta be careful, though. These flying ones can be pretty fragile."

"Let's take the recon drones." You say. "Probabaly better in a cramped place like the Tombs.

"Yeah, I figured that." Lisa nods, tapping a few keys on her wrist mounted console. Suddenly, the three mini orbs shudder and twitch before rising up in the air, orbiting around Lisa's head like miniature moons. "Good to go!"

"I'm ready here, too." Sam nods, making sure her Mateba and her assault rifle are loaded and ready. "Carly? What are you going to be rolling with?"

You turn to the Russian, who opens up the back door of a van, revealing racks of weapons of all kinds.

"Consider it a freebie for this one time." She smiles.

You decide to roll with the classic assault rifle. Good for any situation, especially if you needed to travel light.

"All right, ready to rack!" You say as you slap a fresh magazine into your weapon. "So where are we headed?"

"I dispatched my operative to an old warehouse here." The Russian points to a circled location on the map in front of her. "We have received reports that there is a defunct but salvageable ED-209 combat platform there, leftover from past peacekeeping attempts. Now, a fully functional combat robot like the ED-209 would fetch an extremely high price on the black market, or could prove to be an invaluable asset for our own organization. While the recovery of my operative is the primary objective, I would like you to recover the ED-209 if possible."

"We'll see what we can do." Sam says. "Lisa, can you fix it up if we find it?"

"Depends on the level of damage." Lisa shrugs. "I won't know until I see it."

"Wonderful." You roll your eyes.

"Now now, time is wasting away." The Russian claps to move you along.

"Wait wait wait." You frown as you look at the "entrance." It was more like a water slide, except it was a concrete tube in the ground, and instead of water it was fluids of all kinds that you didn't care to mention. "You expect us to go down THAT?"

"It is the closest entrance." The Russian shrugs.

You, Sam, and Lisa just stand over the ominous hole, as if daring the other to slide down it first.

"The drone say it's clear. It's totally safe. Totally." Lisa says.

"Uh huh. If that's the case why don't you go down first?" Sam asks.

"Because I'm the technician? I'm not a pointman!" Lisa rationalizes.

"Sissies." You grunt and stomp forward. "Let's just get this fucking over with!"

>As a note, dice rolling will work in a similar fashion to Cyberpunk Idols. However, they won't be fully fleshed out until the entire crew is together!

"UWAAAAAAH!!" You shriek as you tumble down the concrete drain, your light vest hissing as it scrapes against the artificial stone. Finally, you see a faint light up ahead, signifying that your little journey was nearly at its end.

That is, until you exit the pipe and fall into a large pool of rancid storm water.

"Auuugh!" You wail as you thrash around trying to get your footing. What a fucking way to start things off.

"Hey! Carly, is everything all right?" You hear Sam ask over the radio.

"Uh yeah, everything's great!" You say as you pull yourself out of the pool. "Come on down!"

It was cruel, but seeing Sam and Lisa's surprised faces when they splash down too made it all worth it.

"Aw, fuck you, Carly!" Sam spits as you laugh and pull her out of the pool. "'Everything's great', huh?"

"Says the masterclass actor." You chuckle.

"Should've brought the gundrones." Lisa grumbles.

"Ah, don't be such a spoilsport!"

Once the three of you were fairly dried off, you continue on. You notice that down here, everything was very, VERY dark, only lit by dying lights and weak fires. It made visibility extremely poor. You also noticed that the ventilation was pretty bad, with the air having a constant, smokey consistency, caused by things you'd rather not think about.

You wonder if this is what Dad had to deal with before he made it big.

"Hey, guys, my drones are picking up something!" Lisa reports.

You and Sam gather around your techie was she activates a small holoscreen. On it, you could see the projections of the drones' cameras.

"That's the ED-209 we're looking for." Lisa points to the screen.

Sure enough, there was a derelict shell of the fearsome ED-209 warbot. However, it also was surrounded by at least two dozen thugs armed with various weapons.

"Well, that's not good." Sam frowns.

"You think our friend had a run in with these guys?" You wonder.

"Who knows." Lisa frowns. "But that's a lot of them."

"Well, did you find anything?" You ask.

"Nah, nothing yet." Lisa frowns. "More thugs milling about, but that's about it."

And that's when you feel the barrel of a gun pressed against the back of your head. You see Sam and Lisa freeze for a second before raising their weapons at you, or more specifically, the person behind you. You could hear heavy, mechanical breathing coming from your ambusher. Some kind of gas mask of breather unit?

"Let her go." Sam scowls, her brand new Matebal glinting in the dim light. "Or I'll blow your fucking head off."

You hear more muffled wheezing before you feel the pressure of the barrel disappear, and hear the crunching of boots against gravel as the unknown slowly takes a few steps back. You finally turn around to see a cloaked and gas masked figure standing there, an old and busted up Bronco .44 clutched in her gloved hands. You both kind of stare at each other before the asked figure brings out a tablet and quickly taps away at it.

HELLO. DID THE RUSSIAN SEND YOU?

You, Sam, and Lisa look at each other dumbfounded.

"Um, yeah." You nod. "The Russian sent us to find you."

The masked girl rapidly taps away at the tablet again.

OH GOOD. YOU CAN HELP ME LOOT THE ROBOT THEN. NAME IS ARTYA BY THE WAY.

"Um, hi, Artya." You frown.

"Erm, you don't speak? Are you mute?" Sam asks.

DO YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE WAY I TALK?

"N-no, nothing at all!" Sam says awkwardly.

"Um, guys, problem!" Lisa waves you all over. The four of you crowd around her holofeed, where you see one of the screens is just blank static.

"What happened to the drone?" You ask.

"Think those thugs saw it." Lisa grimaces. "They probably know we're here."

"We should leave then. We found the operative, anyways." Sam says.

You hold your position and mount your rifle on the ED-209.

THUGS REGROUPING. Arty warns via text message. THEY DO NOT LOOK HAPPY.

Yeah, it seemed like happiness was one thing that was in serious shortage down here.

"Lisa, status?" You ask.

"I think I got basic motor functions." Lisa grunts as wires spark and flash. "Let's see..."

The legs soon begin to twitch, and the ED-209's optics hum to life. It looked like it was still in fairly working order.

"Okay, moving on to weapons." Lisa continues her work.

At this point, you could see the thugs slowly filtering back into view. You could catch Artya's cloaked form blending in among them.

PERMISSION TO ENGAGE?

Name of the game is fighting retreat. Use Artya to cause as much confusion as possible while pulling out of there. We should also aid her when the opportunity presents itself.

"Artya, try to cause as much confusion among them as you can." You say and turn to Sam. "I think it's time we get out of here."

"Yeah, me too." Sam nods. "Lisa, forget the weapons. Just get this thing moving to the nearest exit.

"All right, all right!" Lisa grunts as she slams the panel closed. "I programmed it to head for the nearest exit!"

With that, the ED-209 struggles to its feet, and begins lumbering out of the yard and away from the gang of thugs. The thugs begin to get galvanized at the sight of their prize escaping and start to move, which is when Artya makes her move.

However, despite Artya picking off a few thugs while they aren't looking, the mob's blood is up, and they press on, seemingly unaware of Artya's attempts to hamper them .

SORRY.

"Not your fault, Artya. Just get out of there and link back up with us." Sam says.

ROGER.

"Looks like we're gonna have to fight our way outta this one." Sam sighs. "I do hate having to fight."

"That's why you got me around." You chuckle.

You unleash a storm of bullets on the approaching mobs, gunning down a couple thugs as they come. You get some sporadic bullet fire and rocks, but you make sure the ED-209's armored hulk is between you and them. Even in its damaged state, the ED-209's armor was more than enough to shrug off whatever these thugs could throw at it.

Meanwhile, Lisa was keeping a close eye on its diagnostics to make sure the robot wouldn't break down at a bad time, while Sam was taking point, yelling at people to get the fuck out of the way. You figure they were more intimidated by the giant robot rather than Sam herself, but mostly because you figure that they didn't know its weapons weren't working.

Meanwhile, you count about six thugs downed to your fire, and their progress is definitely getting checked as they fall further and further behind.

"Come on, little baby, just a little farther!" Lisa pats the ED-209 lovingly as it lumbers on, smoke belching from its ancient motors. "Don't die on us now!"

"I can see the exit!" Sam points. Up ahead, you could see a long ramp leading up to the surface.

LETS GET THE LOOT UP THERE. Artya reminds you all.

>Let the ED-209 take up the rear. It'll shield you from attacks.
>Take up the rear to keep the thugs suppressed. Don't want to risk more damage to the ED-209.

"You guys go on ahead!" You yell. "I'm gonna hold them off for a second!"

And then Carly got headshotted by a Tombs thug wielding a Hi-Point being held together by rust and faith.
>>

However, whether it was a lucky hit, or if one of the thugs happened to be a good shot, you feel the impact of a bullet hit you square in your vest. It feels like a hammer blow, sending you stumbling backwards. You can taste copper in your mouth, too, and breathing starts to really, really HURT.

"Aw fuck." You cough as you fall on your ass, your rifle clattering to the ground. Your vest prevented it from being a lethal shot, but SHIT it fucking HURTS.

"Carly!" Sam dashes back down and hauls you back to your feet. "Get the fuck up!"

"Easy for you to say." You cough. "Of all the luck!"

This time, Artya and Lisa provide the covering fire as Sam drags you up alongside the ED-209, which slowly trundles its way to the exit.

Finally, the Tomb residents give the chase, unwilling to venture out to the surface. Ahead, you can see the Russian and her men waiting at the mouth of the tunnel. Even from this distance, you can see the wide, toothy smile on her face.

"Excellent job, girls." The Russian lights a fresh cigar. "You shall be compensated handsomely for your work. My men will take you to your safehouse, where you can also get some medical attention, if needed."

"Gee, thanks." You cough.

"And once you have recovered, we will have much to talk about." The Russian grins. "Welcome to Delta City!"

I wouldn't worry, we just need character abilities and rules in order to balance the rolling.
