You're up with the sun, excitement coursing through your veins. It's been three days since the raid on Fulda, and after keeping Pearl and Susan company for a long night full of drinking and celebration, you went home tired and hungover. Much like the rest of the Tank Hunters that took part in the party at the Maustrap.
You rested for that day, visiting Markel, who was very apologetic. Apparently his Bergetiger wasn't enough to tow the Turtle on its own, so he needed to carry out repairs on the suspension at the site. He said it was his fault though, and that you'd get an extra discount on the repairs themselves. There'd be a delay on when you'd get your hands on the Turtle in battle ready condition; not until you get back to Fulda, definitely. Thankfully, your leopard was ready the next day.

On the next day, you spent the day with your crew talking to Captain Carlyle about the rescue mission. Nancy and Bernie had been taken North-East with the retreating forces. Their main camp was somewhere up near the ruins of Magdeburg, in the Brandenburg wastelands. That meant you needed to refit your Leo with new CBRN gear, and it meant that you needed to convoy this one. Not only would you and your comrade's tanks be going, but a small supply group as well. The Captain said that the THO would cover that area.
>>
The Captain has said that she wanted to test your skills, and was leaving a lot of the planning up to you, including putting you in operational command as well as letting you do most of the planning. One of the main things was letting you pick who exactly you wanted to come with you.

>Each tank you decide to bring with you will take a share of the grand payout of 30,000 RhM. You get what's left.

They are redesigning and rebuilding its turret and the hull floor for better protection and updating its electronics and finally giving it a L/55 gun with multipurpose ammo, it isn't getting smaller.
>>
You'd gone with the recommended force composition that Captain Carlyle had given you, not really wanting to get too out there for your first time doing something like this. It mean you'd get a cool 60% of the payout, and you definitely didn't have any problems with that. The Captain told you that this sort of thing is standard when you start to run your own proper tank legion, and that this is something you should keep in mind for the future. You make sure you do that.

And now it's today. You quickly had your morning wash before setting out. It's a good seven hours from here to Magdeburg, so it's best to get moving early. You get your gear loaded into your jeep, including your new CBRN suit, and head out for the mustering area at the THO office. You had kept Fury there for the night to be worked over with CBRN improvements by the THO engineers, and it's where you're going to meet your fellow tankers. Sure enough, as you drive up, there's a tank already there, as well as Pearl in her new Wiesel. The tank, however, isn't anything you've seen before. According to the briefing it's a Type 74 named 'The Rose of the East', but that didn't tell you what it actually is, where it's from, or what it can do.

1/2
>>
>>38863402
Well actually they stopped 'production' in the mid 90's and haven't built any engines since early 00's, they're only just now rebuilding and tooling up the engine plant to make more engines and are building the factory for the A3 components and refits. They'll be in production again by 2018-19 with new engines and turrets.
>>
It looks... like your leo, really, but different. A different turret, but you recognise the L7, and the hull is quite definitely the same. You're not exactly sure what to think of it. You drive on to your bay, where Susan and Sarah were already waiting for you.
"'Sup Commander?" Susan says as you shut off the jeep.
"I'm good. You guys ready to go?
"The ammunition's been loaded up and it's all fuelled to go. We're just waiting on Erich."
"I'm here," Erich says as he round the corner.
"Nice timing," you tell him. "Alright everyone, let's mount up and get everything ready to go."
The four of you clamber up into your positions and stow away the last bits of gear. You've already got part of your CBRN suit on, in case you need it. If you're lucky, you won't need to leave your tank when travelling through the irradiated parts of the waste, but it doesn't hurt to be prepared. When you actually get to Magdeburg things should be fine.

You get Susan to roll you out into the main area, where the rest of the forces are already prepared to go. You switch your radio over to the proper channel and broadcast.
"All forces for Magdeburg, this is a radio check. Report in."
"This is Theodor Von Grimmelhausen in the Rose of the East!" comes an entirely too flamboyant and recognisable voice. "We are prepared to deliver glorious justice to the retched enemy!"
"U-uh, this is Emmett of the reconnaissance platoon," you hear Pearl say. "We're, uh, we're ready too!"
"This is Rubber Duck, supply convoy. You clear the path and we follow."
"Alright then, we'll sort out the convoy positions now," you say.

Does the terrain allow our recon element to split to the flanks and range ahead parallel to us? I imagine we might want some flank recon or at minimum not have them drive single file ahead of us on the road we're using, might be a little conspicuous or obvious, and we want our recon element spotting anything bad before they get spotted.
>>
>>38863888
the idea is that the recon element will range ahead and do the flanks, yeah.
>>
Ok, writing
>>
"Pearl, I want you to do the scouting for us. Make sure we've got a clear path. Go ahead and get moving."
"Got it, Bradley." Pearl and her partner Wiesel start up and take off, their tiny chassis accelerating rapidly.
"Fury will take point for the convoy. Let's go."
You direct Susan to take you north out of town. The road takes you out of Fulda and through the tank graveyards, and then beyond them. This will be the farthest north you've ever been.
For most of the time, your path leads you between offroad tracks and paved surfaces in very poor condition. These roads were hardly ever used anymore, and none of the kingdoms had the money, equipment, or motivation to keep them in shape. Your tracked vehicles crest the cracks, holes and bumps of these old roads with ease. The course continues north, through the old battleground of the Fulda Gap and beyond.

Around an hour into your seven hour trip, you realise it's going to get very boring. Erich has already gone to sleep, and Sarah is boredly reading a small book. You call up Pearl on the radio.
"How's it looking out there, Emmett?"
"Empty. There's no one out here but us that we've seen. To be honest, Bradley, we probably won't run into any bandits until a couple hours north of here. Oh! But we'll keep doing our job, don't you worry about that!"

Well, you could probably talk to someone, or you could just sit back and keep watch.

Leo1A5 killed tanks in actual combat. Check Operation Bollebank for more info. 3 T-55 got BTFO by the Danes.
>>

>>
>>38861214
As mentioned before Danish Leo1A5s have fought MBTs in tank combat, in 1994 during the Bosnian War, they killed 3 T-55s and took zero losses.

>>
>>38866000

>Bloomin conflicting reports
>>
>>38866045
MKill is a Mission Kill, depending on the countries armed forces they have different classifications and requirements to meet them, but I've know of instances where units have been awarded victories because they routed enemy units as mission kills, no idea whether the Danes do that, but it happens
>>
>>38865986
They may have not killed any armor but they did kill ~150 enemy personal and took only minor damage to one tank. Serbs BTFO.
>>
>>38866085
Operation Amanda the Danes did disable a Serb T-55, that one was confirmed and they did it with a Leo1A5. Sorry trying not to derail the quest.

Cool, thanks.
Yeah those NATO operations in Bosnia were cool, a great mini conflict to show how Western hardware faces against its adversary in the Combloc East. Too bad the NATO forces had their hands tied behind their back with their stupid ROE from the UN peacekeeping mission. Ideally they should of just fucked up any opposition they came across to force the Serbs to stop the conflict and save civilains from being ethnically cleansed.
Obviosuly it was more complex, but man it just sucks to hear stories of peacekeepers standing by and watching civies get murdered and to not be able to fucking mow those bastards responsible down. Anyways it is nice to see the Danish Leo's got some experience. Like that Danish F16 who shot down a Mig 29 or SU-27. (can't remember of fthe top of my head)

Keep up the good work Sentinel... but remember guys we are supposed to be a tank commander and thus we have the best field of view in our tank and as lead vehicle in the convoy (ignoring the recon Wisels) we need to stay alert.

(Also I just jumped in can someone tell me what the Wisels are armed with, 20mm autocannon or TOWs, sorry I am a newfag to this quest)

OP: As always, feedback, suggestions wanted and appreciated.
Well, back to normal. Pop me a post if you want a specific AFV or a special thread.

In case you missed it, the last thread's Main Battle Tan/k/ Model 2015 Block 1:
>120 mm smoothbore Rheinmetall with LAHAT
>Pykrete + ceramic composite armour, possibly spaced + Dorchester add-ons
>Unmanned turret a la Jordanian Falcon Turret
>Nexter pattern bustle-fed autoloader
>Top mounted blowout panels
>Trophy APS - hard kill
>Shtora APS - soft kill
>Hyundai K2 pattern ECM - soft kill
>Daewoo FCS, electronics suite and radar
>CROWS RWS
>Hydropneumatic suspension
>GDLS hybrid gas/electric powerpack
>TUSK style tiled ERA on the sides, NxRA supplementing and Relikt ERA on the turret
>TUSK pattern MG package, with two M2HBs, and two M240s, all RWS enabled
>Countermeasure smoke launcher system
>Extreme sloped turret, low and wide
>One piece ammunition (sorry three piece dude)
>Siberian level A/C
>Nice upholstery
>No bottom hatch
>Rear hatch, and engine shifted to the front
>Beer cooler
>Return rollers
>T-80 track pattern
>Weight range anywhere between 55-90 tons depending on loadout
>DU APFSDS
>CBRN protection
>Detachable ammo basket

More tame than I thought it would turn out, to be honest.

This is going to be the most expensive mediocre tank in existence. And Pykrete is still retarded as fuck. I mean like, it's just bad, there are no redeeming qualities about it, except you can have ice with your drink.

You key the radio, insistent on cutting down on the boredom.
"Hey, Von Grimm," you say.
"My name," he replies. "Is Theodor Marcellus von Grimmelhausen."
"...Yeah, that's not good for a radio callsign. What's your tank name again?"
"My tank is named the Rose of the East!"
"Do you not have a nickname? A shortened name? Anything I can call you?"
He pauses. "We are part of the Grimm Brigade, so you may refer to me over the radio as 'Grimm'. It was my crew's idea, not mine," he hastens to add.
"Alright, Grimm," you reply. You can almost hear his sensibilities being offended over the radio. Sarah giggles in front of you. "What sort of experience do you have, anyway? I met you at the bar when I was just putting my crew together, it seemed like you hadn't found any work yet."
"Well, Edelweiss, I have yourself to thank for my success. It was you who gave me the inspiration to create my own tank legion. I took the remaining people around me and formed my own crew, with a tank that I had inherited from my father's estate. We have been taking as many jobs as we can, large or small, and we have succeeded at all of them!"
"Well," you say. "Good for you. You know, I've heard some stories about you. At the party recently, and around. You were the one that defended Fulda from the bandits?"
"Of course! We stood at the forefront and held the line against the bandits that we now seek! It was us that held the bulwark!"
You're not really sure what to say. You settle for "That's, ah, nice."
You get the feeling it's going to be a long drive.

Anyway, recently I had the idea. I remember writefagging for GuPQ and how happy Blackjack was about that, and I was wondering what that'd be like.

Then I had the idea: what if I make a pastebin or something of all the notes and ideas and everything detailing the setting (nothing related to the actual plot though) and posted that for people to refer to and use for writing if they wanted? Does that sound like a good idea? Hell, I don' care if you even want to use it for some sort of campaign in an RPG. I love this setting and it's probably the best I've come up with.

you guys can even help me worldbuild if you want. I love that shit.
