Last time creation was determined and a game was ended.

...well correction it was mostly done still a few things left to do but who cares for now.

Last time when the game started our nameless MC has entered a interesting place full of many foes and opportunities. Haven't gotten to the other one yet. Currently said MC is attending an Event to represent the start of a new year.

Heheh.

You funny when it comes to factions you would of had a hard time choosing one with less enemies and less friends.

You decide to peruse the third parties aka those who are not in the top. They range from anywhere to your fellow humanity to other alien factions who much prefer their independence.

Unsurprisingly when they found out you were Combine they quickly turned rather hostile while at best they were leery.

Combine has a terribly(deserved) reputation afterall. Not many friends unlike the Republic who at worst are they would just be leery of...where that is the best you can hope for.

>Try to get them to open up anyway

>Talk to the 'reasonable' ones

>other?
>>
Rolled 85 (1d100)

>>38772816
As in the Combine is by far the most hated faction in the galaxy the only others that can compare being certain corporations and other threats.

Everyone can agree to hate the supremacist assholes who are prone to infighting when NOT kicking someone else's shit in. Even then they do love to torment other groups including their arch nemesis the republic(but they never go to outright war with them).

Everyone else is free game and they act like it too. Only time you can catch a break is when you either fight them off, join them, join the republic, they haven't found you yet, or they get bored.

The combine has a terrible much deserved rep.
>>
Rolled 63 (1d100)

>>38772927
You wont even find many friends IN the combine.

For fucks sake for most of its so called members stick together is survival.

They know they don't stand a chance alone but at the same time can barely stand each other on a good day.

Bad days...well war between members isn't exactly rare and with few limitations(while others get none).

I getcha, I getcha. Makes sense.

Still, in the future, we are going to be commanding a combine fleet.

And even the deadliest and most bloodthirsty fleets NEED allies and third parties they can both sell and purchase goods and supplies from. What's more, we're going to need to turn people against the republic if we cannot turn them to our side.

If we cannot deal with these third parties, how are we supposed to handle our own Combine even?

But today is our LUCKY day! (And we still have boons leftover to use for our lifepath).

I suggest we use three of our leftover boons into a Major Boon. And try to get them to open up anyway.

Civs in the past have grown strong by countering their weakness, the Memor became charismatic, the Blood Snows fixed their lack of tech and manufacturing, the splicers did amazingly well growing stronger and beating their weaknesses with mutation.

So let's learn, here and now, to turn our weakness into a strength.

They do and technically that is their members.

The Combine itself is a unified force tithed from all member states whose overall power is strictly limited.

The Combine is actually VERY poorly unified despite it age its hardly changed a bit.

As for turning enemies the Combine relies upon its ops and often enough the Republic's own failings to do their work for them. The only 'third parties' who they deal with are only those who are hostile to the Republic and they either join up or get dealt with by the Republic.

If you wanted to make friends you should of chosen LITERALLY any other faction.
>>
>>38773498
Right Genie, we know.

That doesn't mean we haven't beaten fluff based diplomacy penalties and bad rep before (you should know)

The Combine are like the Hax. Without a strong, charismatic leader, it all falls to shit. But with someone like the Commander they were a force to be reckoned with.

If we're going to keep the fleet in line, we need to learn how to become like the Commander, or this fleet is sunk before it's even set sail.

Not bad.

If we can get info out of these guys and manipulate the combine against them, we might gain a major favor with them. The only way we can unite the combine is by giving them a common enemy to hate more.

Alternatively they said they hate the combine /more/ than they the republic. I have a feeling they have reasons to dislike the republic as well.

If we can figure out for what reasons they dislike both parties, we can act on that much better

Genie's in characer masterminds work by using my own skills/knowledge.

I am not sure how to carry this over to a player controlled Mastermind character.

also its a fuck ton of work and ain't easy. I only used like TWO masterminds before on the players of all my civs.

>>38774878
I just don't know how to do it for player perspective anon is the only problem.

You know how nasty good/awesome my masterminds are?

Jenny tier during the Memor days with the amount of ass devastating power they wield. She was considered a 'lesser' mastermind.

You commence to chow down everything in sight and drink whatever dares enter your reach.

Anything from water and juices to even better booze. Apparently the Combine isn't exactly the most responsible bunch considering their giving access to booze to minors whom they should be caring for.

Any other day you might of had a not so nice things to say about this alas they didn't skimp on the booze either.

They served beer, wine, whiskey, vodka, and even champagne. All of which you enjoyed even the beer you actually found yourself liking where previously you weren't such a fan.

Though cheap ass beer actually goes along well with cheap and greasy foods when you could afford to do so.

Mikan's shack...man they had some GREAT fried foods and would even give you some free booze every once in awhile when you were having an especially rough time.

Someway somehow that old bastard always knew when someone needed a drink. He was often kind enough to include it with meal and if you didn't need a drink he would charge you for it.

Ah...one of the few fond memories you have is that place when you could skimp up the cred.

So you feast and drank...then heard some of the other years talk about some people who could REALLY chug them down. So you stood up slammed your freshly finished drink and headed towards where those people were.

Despite consuming vast amount of booze and food for your tiny body. You figured this would be a good idea.

So you walked up to the biggest meanest hard drinking mofo you could find who accordingly to the other students could drink down everyone.

You decided to prove that there WAS someone who could outdrink him.

------
You are henry and standing right before you is a girl freshly joined who claims she can out drink you. You laughed.

Then she chugged down an entire whiskey bottle...before smashing it on the ground before simply stating.

"You sure about that punk?"

....everyone was watching and so apparently now your gonna have to outdrink a little girl. You weren't planning to drink too much but with everyone looking at you like this...fine just fine.

So you looked over and looked at the bartender and Johnny with 'the look'. So quickly it was set up and when you looked back at the girl to confirm-she was chugging down an entire vodka bottle before slamming it down on the counter and stared at you with a taunting gaze.

That was when she lifted up her first shot.

Your only thought that this girl must clearly be crazy taking in all the booze before the actual show started.

------

And START," shouted the man called johnny as you both started shoving down shots of booze one after another.

The poor bartender was actually having a hard time keeping them filled up in time before they were getting all knocked back so quickly.

Sure enough after a half hour...a very stumbly Henry collapsed onto the counter unable to drink anymore.

There was stone cold silence where the only sound was a young girl knocking back the remaining shots(including her former foe's) before after finishing up. That was when she looked at the crowd before shouting.

"WHOSE NEXT?"

There a few looked at each other and the at the girl before moving forward. They as last years couldn't afford to be showed up like this...especially by a little fucking girl of all things.

At this point it was a matter of deep pride and self respect. So they lined up...and prompty started getting their ass handed to them.

In total an additional 8 guys collapsed before the young girl.

"Bah we can't out drink her man..."

"She is like a new Lilian..."

"Ah THATS IT! QUICK GET LILIAN!"

"But ain't she immu-oh."

"Exactly."

-----

After the eighth fell before the young girl there was sudden silence where previous there was much cheering(mostly on the younger and females). There the crowd departed and there was another gal.

The girl said and did nothing but sat down after shoving the previous now stupor occupent off.

So the great drinking competition continued except the shots were replaced by bottles and barrels for this next round.

Broke barrel after broken barrel.

You tried...you really tried, but this woman. She was like...IMMUNE to the booze! It just didn't phase her.

While it phased you(in a good way) sadly though you could feel yourself growing sluggish and unsteady, but your mind keener then ever before.

Sadly however that would not be enough to win as slowly but surely you could feel the darkness coming. Your only sense of satisifaction being her having to stop eating in order to concentrate on drinking.

You consider that a win especially considering you never stopped eating...

Come to think of it doesn't that tecnically mean you dropped dead from food coma?

Were your last thoughts before passing out not being able to remember when you last fell asleep by food coma?

------

Alas however you did not stay asleep. Much to your shock you found yourself waking up on someone's lap...and what is this sensation on your bac-oh looking up you can see the gal you lost to.

Well shit didn't see this coming...and such large breasts. That bitch.

"Well well if it isn't the little drunken dreamer. Must say kid if you hadn't stuffed yourself so much I might of actually ended up losing. Thought don't tell anyone that got to keep up appearances after all."

You are?"

"Lilian Juliana Amari."

"Wait wait of CLAN Amari?"

"Yup."

"...heard you were some hardcore cunts."

"We are no Kill Klan commandos but we do get around."

"So wait what you doing with Combine?"

"Clans are not bothered by so called borders...that and I sorta lost a bet with a monstergirl."

"Hah?"

"Long story short don't try to out monster a monster."

"Hahah that was very very stupid of you."

"I know that now."

Considering how bad your head hurts...

"So you wouldn't happen to know of a hangov-BLEGHAGHAHRAHRHA"

Projectile vomit all over her face, neck, tits, and running down her chest to her leggings. Luckily you were able to stand up on time and none of it landed on you...until you vomitted again and slipped in it.

That was when she stood up and to add insult to injury. She had an AMAZING ass....as if her rocking tits weren't enough.

"Well THIS is why you don't eat and drink at the same time...could of sworn you had slept it off apparently I was wrong. As for hang over cures...here." that was when she threw a bottle your way before commencing to strip right then and there.

You were dumbfounded how could she strip in this sorta plac-oh her underwear were still clea-AH HER and her face! You...if one no TWO things weren't bad enough you thought you had hope with at least having a cute face...and somewhat scarred body. I mean sure you had no ass or tits to speak off...but you had those two hopes right?

But...but then there SHE.

Hopes crushed. You couldn't compete with all of that...so you head laid low in vomit.

Until she grabbed and stripped you as well before grabbing a new seat and plopping down it. After that she waved over a drone before requesting new clothes for the both of you.

...you couldn't help but be pouting. Especially considering her astoundingly rocking body.

Shit ain't fair.

That was when the unexpected happen she abruptly hugged and tickled you before brushing her lips on her ears before whispering.

"Let me guess wishing you had a body like this with such scars that compliment instead of make ugly? You will...you have just yet to grow into it."

"How the hell..." so you looked up at her and noticed that she winked at you with a knowing grin before leaning back and flipping off the boys whose were busy gulping in air and girls whose rage made you sweat.

...damn this bitch got some guts with taunts like that.

"Simple kick ass and keeping kicking ass. Best part about kicking ass? There are many different kinds of both ass and kicking of it."

With that you enjoyed laying back on your new friend? Enjoyed the basking you could of sworn you sensed some lusty gazes your way...

-----
Someway nearby among the males.

"Oh my DICK!"

"A petite loli and busty gal...this is just too much!"

"My dick is diamonds..."

"At least yours hasn't exploded once the loli laid back on the big one..."

"Really man?"

"The contrast...its just too much."

------

So you laid back and enjoyed the basking

New clothes have been delivered she is however busy ignoring it for now...and why did she get an open robe?

You meanwhile have a new longer dress or a tee shirt with short skirt.

"Hey...HEY."

"What?"

"Why don't we hunt some leprechauns!"

"...wow your more drunk then I thought. I don't know about you but i would rather not pick a fight with Fae."

"Oh come on there is one right THERE!"

"There is no reason a goddamn Fae would be located in thi-oh hey what do you know."

After unknown amount of time you are NOT entirely sure where you are...except for some reason your head is between a certain pair of legs wai-isn't that her thong. Oh...what the fuck happen?

Getting up...sure enough the two of you were in a 69 position.

"Those wee little men I shall-wait how much time has passed?"

"Uh...well its not like I like the men around here. Damn bitches lied about this being eye candy paradise for girls."

"Heheheh you don't swing that way huh?"

"No they are hot."

"I don't like hot I like cute."

"Oh...oh dear girl you are in the WRONG place for cute boys."

"Well there has to be some around eventually right?"

"...well in like 3-4 years if your lucky I suppose."

"...you have GOT to be kidding me."

"Nope made the same mistake you did girl still haven't found a cock with taking."

"Your standards are INSANE!"

"Coming from the girl who doesn't like manly men and went to military school real smart of you there."

"Oh shut up I have bad memories all right those type of guys just don't do it for me."

"Too much exposure huh?"

"Something like that...seriously though are you a man hating lesbian?"

"I would totally be a lesbian if I could get laid by women."

"...you your joking right? You who is insanely hot CAN'T get laid by both sexes?"

"Its not for lack of trying."

"You have got to be joking that is impossible all you have to do is open those long legs of yours. Even a straight woman would be tempted to try out that lily."

"hm...guess that explains that."

"wait wha-oh NO I didn't mean it like that!"

"Its okay if you don't break in regards to men you'll soon be hounding for pussy besides your own."

"...no."

"Give it rest girl I am you in like 2-3 years. Though chances are you will be less developed."

"Cunt."

"loli."

"I am NOT a loli!"

"Your lack of assets, hair, and puberty beg to differ. I mean you haven't have your period yet have you?"

"Wai of cour-no wait how did you ARRGGGHHH!"

"HAHAH fucking KNEW it. You sure you are actually thirteen years old?"

"I YES I AM GODDAMN IT I AM JUST A LATE BLOOMER!"

"Ah the joys of the eternal loli I will have to introduce you to a certain vampire friend of mine."

"NNOOO I WILL enter puberty damn it!"

"Oh that will be just fine a little pubescence goes a long way."

That was when abruptly the Fae's joy came to an end when suddenly a surpising number of guns pointed at them before a voice was shouted out.

"Mam we found something that may have been interest to you."

That was when you turned around and noticed an entire troop of armored guys and gals with guns pointed at the Fae in question.

"Huh about time you showed up. What took you so long?"

"Ah well..."
you notice that most of them are looking at you...and your still mostly nude. Shit.
"you see boss we just figured..."

"No...just NO I was merely adopting a freshie."

You notice they are gazing in doubt towards their boss. You noticed this despite the visors they hung heavy in doubt.

"I am SERIOUS damn it!"

"Its okay boss we are not about to judge I mean especially considering the spider pussy incident."

"Oh for fucks sake that was only ONE fucking time."

This banter...is not something you would expect from a clear cut relationship.

"Its alright girl..." states one armor soldier padding her on the back. "It turns you couldn't get laid because they were all just too old for you weren't they." With that last part the soldier was looking right at you.

and the way she reacted with her shaking...ah sweet sweet revenge is oh so delicious. Especially when you don't have to do the work and get to bear witness to it directly!

"I am NOT a goddamn PEDO."

"Its alright boss because its HOT as fck when its a female pedo," spoke up a male trooper excitedly.

She simply reacted by disarming the nearby soldier stealing her gun in rapid speed before unleashing a hail of bullets at the offending male trooper who went down. She however did not stop shooting.

Eventually she ran out of bullets and handed the gun back. When she looked away from the male trooper you could see a arm raise up and give a thumbs up before him saying "worth it."

The female trooper meanwhile got her gun back and giggled.

But we can't buy your muse, or inspiration, or glory with money. I'll really only remember this quest for what we as players did as awesome in our civs, not the system, so you'll see no more money from me

It's good to have something.

To bad your computer sucks, otherwise I would be pushing to game with this group of people. I think we would have fun in tactile games or G mod.

Now that I'm thinking about 7 days to die could be a fun one. Fighting zombies that get stronger and building a base.
>>
>>38791382
Or how about instead of using a system we can see you can just let us grow faster?

Like, sometimes it takes us a whole thread to do a research project on something small and insignificant. Like, last time did it really need us to do almost a dozen research actions on early firearms and steam tanks? We didn't even get to teh steam tanks for the final battle.

I hate to reference /that/ civ again, but the reason we bought all the stuff with the massive infrastructure boost was so that research would be FAST like it used to be and wouldn't take so long. But it still took long (if not longer) anyway.

Would it have been so painful for
>Hey guys, let's research steam tanks!

>1 turn later

>"You have basic steam tanks! They have a canon and a gatling gun!"

>Sweet! We got it. Now let's do some other fun stuff like Magic Tanks to give to our Wizards, or Smileblower tanks to give to our oozes, or a lot of other fun projects we can do

Even without your muse, you would really do well to let players not have to wait forever. You don't have to be so strict on research
>>
>>38792277
*a system we can't see

All that infrastructure and tech and it still took us a crit to get the early firearms which kind of weren't really significant in the last battle. Couldn't even get to the golems either.

And that was supposed to be our dwarven steampunk in fantasyland civ which was the intent from the start.

We had been meandering for so long and raided when we neared the end I wanted to see us get that done.

The enemy has things like Airships that rain undead from the sky, world tearing Mages from hell who can block a rain of holy fire from the gods and rip apart the most perfect defensive structure we've ever built in a single blast, hordes and hordes and hordes of undead of untold number.

You say it's hard for you to give us that without your muse. But from what you give the undead you're perfectly capable of that even without your muse.

So you're just going to ignore everything I said then? Just say "well, this time it will be different!"

I really really hope you're right. I also hope that this isn't only particular to this setting otherwise this is the only setting I'll ever vote we play in.

You do have muse still left in you Genie, I saw it in the last battle the issue is a lot of times you just give it all to the enemy and none to us...
>>
>>38792463
Also please PLEASE for the love of all civs if you're going to let the enemy get super awesome stuff don't make us take forever to do it too.

If we have all the fuel materials and tech don't make it take more than half a thread to research something simple and not very powerful. GETTING all the necessary requirements is a bitch as is.

The Fantastic Civ was the most powerful civ we've ever played, even greater and grander than the memor, but even at the end it took them forever to research something so small.

tl;dr DON'T let research and growth be so damn slow that we have to pay for it

>>
>>38792716
>Have a better research stuff also heroic tier researcher units can work wonders.
I really don't know how we could have without spending more money. We spent superboons getting research stuff to match the Memor. Laboratories, Steam Foundries+, workshops+, wisemen scientists, dwarven mechanists, engineers, synergy Shamans, Clockwork foundries+, and even a crit towards research, plus fluffboons, artboons, survival boons.

>heroic tier researcher units can work wonders
See, but we can't get heroes unless you give them to us. Because you said that is a bad idea.

From the slime hero for example, we had him but because you were unfamiliar with him he was useless.

We can't get heroes unless you give them to us.

>Memor were able to cheat due to their hero unit despite the other penalties
You really should reintroduce cheat heroes then. You really should.

You were eating harsh penalties for breaking into advance technologies. So you could only do so much.
>>
>>38793039
>You were eating harsh penalties for breaking into advance technologies. So you could only do so much.
Well, we spent a superboon to get the necessary prerequisites to negate those penalties.

I guess it is impossible then if even a super boon couldn't deal with it. Because that's the most powerful thing in our arsenal.

I don't even know how the undead got those airships.

We don't have to do anything Genie. . .

We're here for a story and excitement and have fun playing our civ, but we can't do that unless you're having fun with it too.

If you want to focus on another faction instead of ours tell us so we can just shift our perspective to them. If a civ is boring to you, it will be boring to us and that's good for nobody.

Is this thread not here for us to talk and plan?
That fair and I can understand, otherwise I wouldn't add the if there's time part.

I'm mainly just wanting to plan and think about what to do with the girl MC. It helps when we come up with things and throw ideas out (well to me it seems to help).

Like in the splicers, we got the dMarche law men because of an off handed comment about playing a civ of unawakened robocorps (I'm assuming that is what Genie did, I can't always tell what was there and what was put there).
>>
>>38793641

Why succumb to something in shame when you can turn a weakness into a strength.
>>
Rolled 79 (1d100)

>>38793551
Which is why I am refusing.

Besides using it on other factions makes it so that when players DO interact with the other faction it will be more interesting.

For when I feel muse for player faction stuff is a bit more interesting and when they encounter muse afflicted faction it too will be more interesting.

Players already have a hate/love relationship with mused factions.

I don't know when the Muse strikes or towards what so I do what i can. I meanwhile use system to help compensate.

Just never give up for your dream!
>>
>>38793870
And you know why it's fun? Because you're focusing on us! On our heroes and not somebody else we don't really know about.

Abigail, some little thirteen year old crawledge out of the blackwater sludge, shows up to this fancy shmancy Academy during St. Patricks day feast.

In the middle of all this partying and frolicking she doesn't just pig out like everyone else, she says a prayer of thanks to the gods

and then she eats like a filthy pig

What's more she not only KEEPS eating like a garbage disposal, but she challenges every last goddamn person she see's to a drink off.

And out of nowhere this girl is knocking down seniors and older students like flies.

It took them to call their biggest gun, a girl immune to alchohol, and she didn't even eat while she was drinking.

THAT is how you run a game Genie. Focusing on the players doing awesome things!
>>
>>38793947
She passed out trying to do the impossible and woke up like a champ.

And promptly vomited like a champ too all over the older girl that beat her.

But instead of just being cliche and hating her forever and never seeing her again, she laughed it off, took off our vomit stained clothes as we suddenly basked in the attention to our scarred and wounded body we didn't ever expect.

...and are just a little jealous of how the scars look Soooo much better on her. It's not fair. . .

Bathing in the envy and attention we never had.

And this is only the first day in our academy.

>>
>>38799560
Most of the problems you list come from our natural reaction the the difficulty of the setting and system. A good part of all that is just as much our fault as genies.

This is the first edition of a new system. There will be problems a plenty.
>>
>>38799560
3 threads of

>research continues

Over and over for a basic vehicle, is not a good thing, especially when it doesn't see fruition before the end of a civ. This is something that must change.
>>
>>38799665
Or that is a problem with us setting out hopes too high. You can't expect a caveman to create a car. No mater how manny Crits are rolled
>>
>>38799629
In another civ, it took only 2 actions of to reverse engineer a basic bandit tank and then we could build as many as we had resources. And this was before we upgraded our engineer and laboratory.

It took 3 actions to build the first super tank, from then we could build 2 more per thread. This was again, before we had fully upgraded our workshops and labs.

It took less than a thread for us to reach the capability to produce and build our own behemoths when we set our actions to it.

A steam tank is not a complicated vehicle, nor a very powerful one, it is a basic one and shouldn't have taken three whole turns to not happen.
>>
>>38799724
Except we weren't cavemen.

We had a TON of purchased infrastructure, scientists, engineers, and mechanics, and more supplies than any civ we have seen before or will since. We had the prerequisite technology in the form of engines, machinery, and production facilities but we still weren't able to make but one.

And yes, cavemen have built cars before in this civ. Just ask some of the bandits we've played.

You do have a point. As a hole the power of our actions have gone down and the world has become harder.

But that was the Edin of the setting. The first attempt. The world has grown and the light has faded. All is harder now.
But that is the point.
Memor was only thought great because how hard it was to repeat that level of power.
The tall are only as mighty as how much taller they are then the rest.
Each civ is only good or bad as compared to the other civ's.
The system is more complex. And the challenge greater.
Arm up my brethren
It's an up hill battle all the way.
>>
>>38801657
Actually I'd say the Fantastic civ where more mightier and powerful than the memor by sheer weight of numbers and their assets (including allies). To that I actually have to bump them above the memor, the quality of a civ is what glory and greatness they achieved at the end of the day.

You can have your heroes, you can have your stories, but heroes die, and stories are forgotten or never told, but when all is said and done the only thing that lasts is glory.

And size is the only true expression of glory. Because numbers never lie.

to that I'd say
>Fantastic Civ
>Cultists
>Memor
>Bloodsnows
>Hax

Are a list of the civs by the quality based of their ultimate size, strength, technology and power before they died (or won in the case of Cultists Bloodsnow and Hax)

--

I have been fighting this uphil battle to reach the heights of before, but the cliff only gets steeper in this sysphian task. For a year I have fought to make it happen and near the end I gave my all and even some money to do so.

We did achieve it, in some regard, still sad that some things could have been better handled but on the whole the Fantastic civ did raise the bar on greatness.

120k Pop
The greatest defensive structure we've ever built
The most Infrastructure we've ever amassed

My only sadness is we didn't get the dwarven tech planned from the beginning.

But this greatness was purchased at a price neither of us can afford anymore. The only consolidation is that the War mode game is going to be bigger at least.

A mighty artillery piece singing the song of the wrath of the gods setting aflame entire swaths of land in holy fire, repulsed only by those who have torn words.

A blessed living ooze of massive proportions, capable of swallowing up entire armies and devouring them, flooding the tunnels and making each and every undead have to crawl and swim through the burning quagmire of holy water

The backing of not one kingdom but the united kingdoms of north, south, and a holy host who erected terrible vengeance upon those who brought so much death and destruction, though they could not stop the blighting of the land nor kill the evil advisor responsible for the genocide of a hundred thousand.

And for a time the return of the mightiest psyker hero our civ has or ever will see as ours again.

Why do you think the commander dedicated the rest of his life leading the holy host?
He spent the rest of his life trying to save more than he lost. He spent every moment of it desperate to save just one more soul. So that when he dies, he might not cast him self in to hell just to avoid those he failed.
He lived, doing everything he could to try to break even with his greatest failure.
That, that kind of stuff is why I play.

>>38803159
I don't imagine that's a battle he's going to win. Just like the Prophet of Fate, both of them already dreamed on how to save as much people as they could. Both of them were given all the resources, the keys to the kingdom, and power in their hands. And with the great power came the great responsibility.

And both of them failed that responsibility once. I don't see either of them getting another chance in that word.

Made worse by the fact that now his wife, his advisor, are now conspirators responsible for genocide of so many innocents. To put to end the life of one man, at the cost of so many thousands of innocents? Nay, with INTENT to bring as much possible harm and cruelty against so many innocents as opposed to just taking out this one man?

His wife complained about not wanting her children to live in a world where their father roamed the world. Instead he signed the death warrant to thousands of fathers, children, and mothers.

They could have assasinated him personally. It was well within their power.

Instead they summoned the forces of hell against a people who simply fought for their survival and those of their children, blighting what could have been a holy and safe place into a twisted spire of ruins.

Rather than the life of one man to spare a hundred thousand, a hundred thousand for the life of one man. This is even worse than what even he ever did as the original banishment of his name, for that was at least over exaggerated by forces beyond his control.

And it makes one wonder. Which is the greater shame?
That he would forever look upon his wife and advisor for the mass murderers they are?
Or that he wouldn't care and return to them anyway?

But such is life in the fantastic world of Genie fantasy.

>>

Hax is a goldmine of good moments, and a great example of big civ that leaves me satisfied thinking about our great stand against not one but two superpowers and maintaining our independence.

And the mastermind superweapon? That was a true Genie moment for the ages.

Hax was a good example of a Genie civ done right, big and grand and us being at our finest!

I just really really hate how mind shatteringly disappointing the future generation of Hax are. . . such a disgrace to marr one of our better victories.

>>
>>38807798
The Hax final battle in general was an example Genie's muse at its finest.

Seeing the enemies reaction to our masterminds secret weapons as wave after wave was repulsed not only by our heroes actions, but by our allies as well! Allies who I'm glad to have seen fought with us on that day, Volker, Combine, Pirates, as all of us banded together against the republic.

We had battles in space, on land, between our ships and over our colonies as enemy and allied reinforcements poured in from the sector adding to the carnage, saving our buts in the nick of time. Heroes dueled each other, armies clashed, for every ground the enemy took we blew up in their face and made them pay tenfold.

Finally at the pinnacle of the conflict Richard and his archnemisis and leader of the Republic fleet met each other face to face, that was the deciding moment of the battle. That was where the battle was won as he defeated his foe, if at the cost of his own life.

We won our independance, and best of all, we won GLORY that victorious day!

I am extremely pleased with how the Hax ended.

It was also a good civ in general. Big civs are always more fun to play, and research and gathering of new and exotic tech was quick paced and exiciting as we traveled from system to system looking up all the alien tech and strange sights to our delight (We had REDACTED tier stuff!)

You decide to go bother Lillian about hanging out later also shower location. For a shower she simply states the fresh meat dormitories come with an attached shower, mess hall, and medical office. In that regard you are part of the female year 1 dorms apparently. According to Lillian depending on special privileges, status, and your year you can acquire other stuff/rooms.

According to her second years get their own small cells in a small group instead of being forced to bunk in a barracks all together for their first year. Third years meanwhile get their own tiny private cell.

Beyond that the 'school' is broken into two separate main parts those being male and female. The school is designed to offer basic military training and education. In other words to churn out fresh fearsome fodder and basic skilled soldiers.

Their 'basic' forces are expected to go through years of training instead of the months you would normally expect for basic soldiers. Combine apparently really loves their soldiers being skilled.

At the moment however you are NOT in a true combine training facility instead its a human member state facility that is 'sponsored' by the Combine.

Apparently to be a true Combine facility it has to be harbor cross species which is a real bitch and costly. So they don't bother doing so with the basics.
>>
Rolled 8 (1d100)

>>38812056
Better go meet the people we're going to be bunked in.

We've been in rat packs and street urchin gangs before, and we've made sure we were NEVER stepped on. And by grit or wit if we didn't become the leader, we used the group to propel ourselves forward.

So let's go meet our other dormates and square off who's who in top bunk.
>>
Rolled 15 (1d100)

>>38812056
As in real basic basics.

So instead they make their members do it for them. As you are enlisted as a child undergoing schooling for the military arts you wont likely end up a basic goon who themselves are still expected to go through a series of trainings before the Combine would even THINK of acquiring them.

Apparently the Combine as the bad habit of stealing proven soldiers from its members or excessive trainings before considering to take them on.

This translates into the Combine carrying a scary number of skilled and experienced forces for even their 'fodder' tier troopers.

Apparently the two ways to get into the Combine is to either work your way up from a basic enlistment from a client species OR sign on for extensive trainings from the Combine.

You chose the former and can expect years of training before the Combine would even consider looking your way.

Apparently the only two things for you to keep in mind of major importance besides the basic necessities according to Lillian is the Training and Schooling facilities.

In that regard she warns you that as its not uncommon to go on training 'exercises' in your later years by the member forces sending you out. When your in actual combine facility its not uncommon for them to drag out the students on a 'live' training ops.

This is also true to a lesser degree here but it wont be Combine forces rather just human client private forces.

She also warns you that there is a stiff competition to increase your 'ranking' inside the school due to the privileges they will entail. In addition due to you being a first year she warns you that advanced years 'LOVE' fucking with the new people every year. In that regard she attaches you to the prank couple and told you to stay your first night with them.

The couple including the yet still crater ridden wounded soldier who was heavily limping/leaning on the other were caught offguard but noted that your apparently an 'adopted freshy'.
>>
Rolled 39 (1d100)

>>38812311
Which is apparently a good thing. According to them last years will sometimes choose to take up a newbie to raise during their last year before leaving. While this DOES put a bull's eye on your back its hard to say no to the privileges and protection it entails for your first and most vulnerable year.

The next year though you'll be on your own to sink or swim. So they explain as they lead you...right past both first years and even second year quarters. Instead they head down a hallway called Privilege Personnel ONLY. Down there you could see...a number of very nice looking places. The two of them split off into Officer Quarters before stopping at a door where they reveal a card opening it up into a very nice apartment.

You noticed it had its own bathroom and kitchen segmented off it with a nice countertop where across from it was the living room and nearby the bed room where two actual beds were split by a private screen splitting it in half.

Once inside one wounded trooper hobbled off into the bathroom where you the heard loud crashing sounds and pained groaning before a shower got turned on. The other trooper meanwhile got you some spare clothes before throwing you behind a screen before disappearing in the kitchen.

>>38812261
The trooper in the kitchen strongly suggests waiting a day or two for some reason but doesn't say why. The trooper says though that once you've changed your free to go.
>>
>>38812311
Hmm, but all that training means they lose out on fast consciption and numbers bonuses the Republic has.

Elites VS Grunts has always been a dillema. In an all out battle Genie who usually wins?

From the outcasts we had a small number of highly elite forces, but they were plagued by attacking the grunts the farmers and hospitals had. To where mere farmers in a defensive bonus defeated our elite bandits and heroes.

While conversely in early Fantastic civ when the barbarians and bandits came we had a lot of grunts and defensive bonus even before the rock, but their group of elites and specials , but they wrecked us badly.

Which is the better strategy?
>>
Rolled 48 (1d100)

>>38812525
As far as you know the Combine doesn't 'deal' in conscripts unlike its members and the republic who may do so.

The Combine's greatest weakness is actually their nigh constant dire lack of leadership. Its the actual reason why they are such hardasses about it who they take in.

Their forces HAVE to be well vetted and especially independent because of it.

The republic and other Combine enemies are NOTORIOUS for taking out Officers because they know just how vulnerable the Combine is to that. On more then a few occasions the Combine has been forced to retreat because their leaders kept getting killed.

Its the most popular tactic to use against the Combine is wiping out their leaders...which REALLY doesn't help their leadership problem.
>>
>>38812624
Huh, that so. Hax was lucky the enemy commander was so focused on Richard rather than the Combine leader.

Normally having a smaller, more specialized force reduces leadership penalties while larger less trained forces often increases it. When you have a lot of intelligent and skilled potentials to become an officer.

Is the leadership primarily due to how much infighting there is in the Combine?
>>
Rolled 88 (1d100)

>>38812502
>Stay the night
>Get dressed and leave
>Ask them about themselves
>Ask them about something else(what?)

>>38812624
Seriously though if they were LUCKY their forces would retreat once their leaders get wiped out.

On a few occasions the Combine has fallen into chaos or even started fighting among themselves once you take out an officer or two.

The Combine doesn't have the luxury of many officers unlike the Republic who enjoys both loads of officers AND lotsa conscripts.

For this reason the Combine has had to heavily hold themselves back. Yes they COULD deploy a fuckton of dudes like the Republic but UNLIKE the republic there isn't a chance in hell they could easily lead them all.

So to make up for it they are VERY picky about who they bother recruiting. This leads to the impression that the Combine are just FULL of a bunch of elite bad ass motherfuckers who out of sheer boredom kill each other because its so rare of them to encounter someone worthy.

Which is hilariously false propaganda that their enemies tend to be all largely convinced of.

Hence why they focus on taking out their leaders hoping that either 1 the retreat, 2 they fall into chaos, or even 3 succumb to infighting.

>>38812690
If they could the Combine would TOTALLY deploy a fuck ton more troops but they LITERALLY don't have the officers for it.

The Combine has to eat so many leadership problems its not even funny.

As for Combine infighting leadership is only one of the reasons. Its actually the other stuff which makes it so hard for them combined with their few leaders being priority number fucking ONE to their enemies.
>>

Get dressed.

Follow the trooper in the kitchens advice and wait for a few days, and see what he means. He is obviously aware of something we are not so we should take heed.

>>
Rolled 6 (1d100)

>>38812768
ALL the enemies of the Combine know that their greatest weakness is leadership.

So you always aim to take out their officers and you can easily deal with the Combine if you pull it off.

The Combine is prone to infighting due to racism, leadership, specie, and other ideological differences.

So its a constant problem for them. Its also why third parties are able to so 'easily' deal with the Combine and 'remain' independent. While they don't play nice like the Republic they easily get dealt with once their leadership takes a hit.

The Republic meanwhile has to keep up appearences and hold true which is actually their greatest limiting factor.

If they threw it all away like the Combine they would be a very big problem/threat. Instead their stuck playing nice and being the good guys while working around which severely limits them.
>>
>>38812768
With so much emphasis on trainnig and academies, how do they have a deficit on officers?

Also, can we know some of the other reasons that they lack to be able to deploy lots more soldiers?
>>
>>38812834
Hah, so some things are universal. Playing the good guy is hard mode.
>>
Rolled 67 (1d100)

>>38812835
Racism, superiority complex, hatred, and species differences. Unlike the Republic who preaches racial equality the Combine preaches racial superiority.

This causes them HUGE problems for acquiring officers who can not only break past the racism but channel it.

Those officers who succeed though...are goddamn monsters in terms of what they are capable of.

Yet more reason to kill them dead.

That is the biggest reason which has led to the Combine being an 'elite' force. Other limiting factors is unlike the power hungry Republic hilariously enough despite their preaching of superiority the Combine Government is actually SEVERELY limited in power and scope by its memberhood.

They Combine is entirely reliant on what few privileges its allowed to possess and 'tithes' along with 'gifts' offered up to them by their members.

Their numbers are able to limit to an extent what they offer for the Combine for membership fees. Its worth noting though that more is always better and being a 'good tipper' can lead to good things.

>>38812855
It is.

because you have to limit yourself and it makes it easier to be taken advantage of.

Be aware if you go up against Republic expect to lose. They know how to deal with Combine better then anyone even WITH their limiting factors.

Also they don't have a terrible rep unlike you.

When we do a good civ it's usually evident. We try to save lives, create peace, make friends, or change the world for the better. The Fantastic, Adero, Guanyin, those were good guy civs.

Hax only really cared about themselves and profit, and survival. As evidenced even worse when the commander left everyone just fell apart.

Still, they fought for their freedom and independance against an evil empire who wanted them all dead, you could call them freedom fighters. So you could say they were slightly good guys.

You had...a fucking amazing shower. Once the heavily bruised limped out rather creakily before the other trooper grabbed and helping him to a couch where he was able to lounge. That was when the other trooper went to the kitchen and brought out a medkit along with some chow/drink for the other trooper before telling him to hold still.

While working the unwounded trooper strongly suggests that you take your time in the shower considering you wont be enjoying one of such quality any time soon.

SO you did even without the warning...such a luxury shower and with all kinds of ointments, lotions, and soaps!

It even had a built in steam, dry, and sonic function! So after awhile(your not entirely sure especially considering the hot water never stopped). You crawled your way out of it...noticing the broken armor has been removed.

Outside once you were dressed in freshly laundered and provided fatigues(which had an odd marking attached) you were caught offguard by the fact that...well the two troopers were out of their armor. A brand new piece of armor was set out on the bed(probably a replacement for the ruined one) and...one of the troopers was actually as a matter of fact female.

The other was male...so you had a double take especially considering they were apparently sharing this apartment...despite being of the opposite sex. Guess that explains the screen between the two beds.

The male trooper you noticed has curly brown hair...and skin so bruised you are not entirely sure what their original color is. His eyes aren't much better and he seems to be enjoying using the female's lap as a pillow while she watched some 3d show on the couch.

Guy can't exactly see anything but he doesn't seem to mind. Bastard is probably enjoying that...

And yes Mikan was a cool old coot. One bad ass old bastard too was one of the few places where the gangs didn't dare cause trouble. Even the preds avoided his place.

You never did find out the reason for that last one but according to the street rumors Mikan was a real ass kicker and beat the living daylights out of any gangs that dared mess with him.

Supposedly it involved more then a few blown up bases and deadly ambushes among other things. Mikan is one of the few people who even the gangs don't dare fuck with.

And those gangs are more then happy to fuck with the cops.

I like that bit of fluff so damned much enjoy a bonus to your action...gonna need to start a new thread soon.

Got spooked due to closeness.

We're beginning to suspect this is all a dream, actually...

Sure.

Careful not to go too far over the EDGE with background fluffing actions though.

Though the thought of her turning into an 80s-esque SUPERDARK sort of character who does super sweet things all the time while having a comically grim internal monologue is amusing.

You get up and throw some blankets on her before going back to bed.

When you wake up later and hear some painful moans with some loud noises followed by a strange 'pomf' sound then silence.

When you looked over you noticed the female soldier is in a huff while the wounded guy apparently got smacked in the face by thrown pillow missile.

Rather good/loud one too considering the surprising amount of noise. After that she went back into the kitchen while he removed the pillow and cursed.

"What was that for!"

"For being a wimp."

"I got my ass shot and then kicked give me a break..."

"Doesn't give you an excuse to lounge around and be lazy."

"Oh come on a little breakfast in bed never hurt anyon-OH GOD IT BURNS."

For a second there you thought nothing happened considering the brief blur. It turned out your eyes weren't tricking you as across the screen you noticed a figure shouting in pain.

"What the fuck was that for?"

"Well you said breakfast in bed never hurt anyone."

"You used to be so much nicer when you were younge*splash* OH GOD THE COLD."

That was when you noticed the girl set down an empty pitcher before grabbing a stand with three plates and drinks from when she than approached. Setting one plate and drink down on the stand next to you before setting the stand on the other table all the while ignoring the moaning before hopping on to the bed.

"Quite your moaning will you trying to watch the game."

"Why don't you eat on the couch?"

"I like to watch you suffer. Besides need to keep an eye on you considering your wounded."

"....Then WHY did you do those things?"

"Because you annoyed me but that doesn't mean I wont still care for you."

"You have a funny way of showing tha-YOUCH."

"You gonna continue?"

Que some sad pitiful while he nodded with a no before commencing to stuff his face hoping it will spare him.

Sadly it did not followed by some more pained yelping followed by some orders and bickering going on between the two.

You are not entirely sure what to make of what is going on between those two...you would say childhood friends? Lovers?

But it doesn't really add up for crap.

Still though they appear to have something arranged or some weird dynamic is going on between the two. You aren't entirely sure of what though.

What do?

>Eat in bed
>Eat on couch
>Try to sleep again
>Go to your first year female barracks
>other?

>...you would say childhood friends? Lovers?

---

He was my friend.

>The little girl and boy dressed in rags ran through the crowded streets, avoiding being crushed under the treads and legs of passing vehicles and running away from the lawbots, holding the precious little tubes of nutrient paste in their hands

His name was Jimmy. He was the first person I met after I ran away. We learned to live on the streets together.

>The girl and the boy stand back to back, holding a crow bar in their grasps, no older than 7 each. They slept in the dirty sewers avoiding the toxic glowing sludge. Now the are surrounded by mutant rats as large as dogs, hunger glowing in their eyes

We thought we could make it there forever. Found Mikan, was able to sleep at his place. Scrapped food for a living. Maybe we could survive there.

>Wrong turn, at the wrong time. They were surrounded again, older boys this time, and men. Men to big and too many for them to handle. They grabbed at them both. She had a knife this time, gutted some of them. Still too many. Jimmy yelled at her to run, she sliced a man's leg and rolled out of the way. She didn't turn back.

I thought that was the last I'd see of him. You never saw anyone after they took you. Was more worried about what happened to him than if they'd come back for him. Years later, he came back.

>She saw . . .a girl. With long black hair, that almost looked fake or grafted on. Sunken eyes, bruises and cuts, ragged clothes over a chest that didn't seem right. She thought it was another run away like her, run away from slavers. And then she saw her face. She recognized it immediately. Abigail didn't understand, she wanted to ask Jimmy so much. She. . .he didn't answer. He asked her just to talk with him for a day. She shook and tried to be calm, and got the nerve to speak.

He wanted to talk to me. So I talked. I talked about all those times they barely got away, jumping on that maglev and seeing the look on the cops faces. About all the fun times we had, the laughs we shared at Mikan's shop, how he'd always be there at the door when they ran in fleeing a dozen of those older boys, just staring them down and how they'd turn away.

And then he talked about our plans to survive and make it outta the slums.

>She saw as the long haired figure step up on the rail overlooking the ledge, facing her. She wanted him to get down. He just kept talking to her.

Jimmy asked me to promise to do what we always talked about. Escaping the bottom slums, and being at the top of the food chain. Make it into the good life. No more running, no more looking for food all the time.

To reach the very top.

>She saw the smile at what she had said. All that while Jimmy kept looking at her, smiling, like was thinking about something. Jimmy shut his eyes, still smiling, and took a step back

---

She woke up in a sweat again, her heart pounding. Her fists clenched the sheets again, until she let go and looked at her hands. Slowly she calmed down.

Abigail muttered something under her breathe.

“I promise”
