"Now we can prepare for the wedding!"

"Fer who?"
"The princess."
"To who?"
"The hero!"

Err.
"What're ye sayin' Lass?"

You are Jack Albator, handsome adventurer, excellent commander-
-and... amateur.. matchmaker?

You just returned a nation's hero to her summoner before she succumbed to the effects of being away from said summoner for too long. That summoner was the princess of Konditorei, and-

You stop the head maid before she rushes back to the castle.
"Hold on a sec. Yer saying the princess and the hero is marrying?"
"That's right."
"To who?"
"Each other."

"Then who's the bride?"
"They both are!"
"Then whars the groom?"
"There isn't one!"

You look around to see if anyone else has got what she is saying yet, because this conversation is seemingly nonsense to you.
Camille seems to be trying to repress a laugh, Madeline is curled into a ball on her wagon with a weird smile on her face, Akiko is listening in intently, Atsuko is covering Keiko's ears, and Charlotte is doing the same with Louise's eyes. Cody seems remarkably shocked, and Amaretti looks incredibly tired, plus the knight trio seem oddly uncomfortable to be here at the moment.

"Well? What are we waiting for!" The head maid happily chirps.

>"Argh! I get it! The hero is acting like a stand-in for the groom because he's away on a trip! That's genius, who's the lucky guy?"
>"But.. Lasses can't fancy other Lasses! It's unnatural!"
>"..Aye still don't get it."
>"Aye guess I'm confused as to what purpose this serves or why it has to be done now."

"I.. I guess I'm just."
What are you anyway, what is the word to describe this?
"I guess I just don't see what the purpose is."
Or more importantly.
"Or why it all has to be done right now. This isn't why the hero ran away, is it?"

The maid's face suddenly has a light blush on it, but you keep going.
"And besides, if ye want to continue the family line. Aye'm pretty sure ye can't have a heir that way. "

She doubles back and stands right in your face.
"It's not what you think!"

"Really? 'cause what I'm thinkin' sounds kinda deviant."
"That's why it's not what you think!"

You reach your hand upward and grab onto her circular ear.
"Aye'm listening, then."

The maid frees herself from your grasp before giving the simplistic explanation.
"Greta can't take the throne until she's married, right? Her father and cousin have made it where every person she's met in life have been suitors who are loyal to them. Except for one person."

"The hero."
"That's right! The hero is the only person who has known her long enough for it to work. That's why she was sent away to your country."
You finish the rest of her thought, "Plus if anyone says she can't have the princess, she's a hero and there's nuthin' they can say about that, huh? Which is why ye picked her instead of a butler or sumthin'."
"Pretty good how it works out, isn't it?"

This still doesn't seem like a very good plan.
"Yer sure it works that way? I think marriage has a very specific definition."
She stands up and dusts herself off, "Nothing in writing that says it doesn't here! If we can get her married, her father and his ilk have no more claim to this country."

>"This still seems like a poor idea."
>"Do they even know about this plan?"
>"Have you even asked them?"
>"Does anyone else know about this?"

Something about this seems incredibly wrong.
But it's not what you would think is wrong about this.

"Have ye even asked them about this?"
"No." She says, matter-of-factly.

Your hand meets the flat of your forehead.
Behind you, you notice Tuile peeking her head out from the edge of her wagon. Slowly, her tail sways behind her pointed ears.

"B-ut it's not like we could! Anyone who spent too much time with her was sent out of the country. "
"Aye still think this decision lies with them and not you. "
"It's not like it's a real wedding! It's the title that matters, they won't even know what's happening!"
"That almost makes it worse in my mind, Lass."

She grumbles, but tries defending herself one more time.
"If we do this, she's free to live her life any way she wants. As it is right now she's stuck inside a room with no one around to talk to. I don't care what you say, stranger, this is for her own good."

With that, she turns around and storms off.

You feel a presence behind you.
"Somethin' wrong, Tuile?"
"No no!" She puts her hands up, "I was just thinking, a hero marrying a princess, seems romantic don't you think?"

You consider the circumstances carefully.
"Nah, it really doesn't here. But I guess I'll ask around before I decide to help with anything."

Tuile balls her fists as you walk over to Yuuki, who has finally returned from the Princess' room.
"Aye, how're they doin' Yuuki?"
"They're sleeping, that hero looked better almost immediately. "
"Good work, so ye ready for the wedding?"
"Eh? What wedding? For who?"
"Ye just met them."

Yuuki thinks about what you said for a minute before covering her face with her sleeves.
"THEY'RE BEING MARRIED INTO A HAREM!? I- I CAN'T STAND FOR THIS!"

You grab her shoulder before she takes off and explain everything to her.

What do you think of this plan so far?

I mean, what else can we do? Challenge him ourselves for control of the crown, then making our first and only act as ruler be handing control back to the princess herself?
>>
>>38770071
no just kidnap both of them and take them out of the country then the princess takes the throne
>>
>>38769554
Man, Tuile sure has become pretty enamored of Jack rather quickly, if the idea of a Hero marrying their princess has got her interest.
>>
>>38770260
I have no doubt that her interest in Jack really took off after making her his "captain" and the promise of a chance to go adventuring and leaving the throne behind.
>>

Also, remember how our first meeting was finding her getting drunk in a bar. Jacks like one of the only people she knows that hasn't actively tried to stop such un-princess-like behavior.

Not to mention he goes on all kinds of adventures. And given how Tuile likes to sneak out that may just give her even more reason to like Jack

"So, what do you think?" Yuuki says, sighing in resignation.
"I think it's a terrible plan." You cross your arms.

Yuuki wipes her brow with her sleeves. "That's good because I was thinking-"
"It's also the best plan we have." You take this opportunity to sigh as well.

Yuuki spins around, looking you directly in the eye.
"D-do you seriously think that's the best plan we have? I- I mean surely you have another plan."
"Aye do, we could kidnap both of them."

She jumps at the term 'kidnap', but then becomes curious.
"Why aren't we just doing that, then? That's preferable to um, marrying them."
"Because kidnapping them is something we can't take back and would cause a big war on this continent. And we already have an unknown enemy, Lass."

You turn to her,
"Besides, nothin' stoppin' us from just kidnappin' them anyway if this doesn't work out. The way I see it, it's win/win seein' this thing through."

"Okay, I see what you mean Jack but still, two little girls marrying just seems WRONG. Maybe if they were older, it would be different. Do they even know what marriage is?"

"Aye, but maybe it's better that way, Yuuki. This way, whenever this whole thing blows over they can carry on like it never happened."
"Then.. What are we going to do?"
"Aye guess we're gonna stay a few days, watch what happens. We still don't have answers to where they were taking the villages, and I'm sure whoever-this-is will try to break it all up."

"Hey, if what we need is a marriage, maybe one of us should marry?"
"What'll that change, Tuile? You want one of us to marry the princess?"
"What I mean is maybe a couple from our caravan should marry with them so it's not as obvious that those two are getting married."
"Who'd ye have in mind?"

She blushes and twirls her tail, "Well... I don't know yet, buuut I'm sure I can find someone."

"'Ey Lass, that isn't a bad idea."
Yuuki is listening in very intently.

"You really think so?" Tuile seems very excited somehow.
"Yar, a distraction wedding so the little 'uns can have their ceremony. I bet the maid would love that, if anyone asked we could say it was a little get-together for the relatives."

"Yeah! Yeah!" Tuile is getting more excited by the minute. "We could even disguise them as flower girls and then give them a quick ceremony at the last minute!"
"Aye, that's some good thinkin' Tuile. But of course-"

You think about what this would entail. You're not sure if it would be a 'real' wedding, or if it would even count. Either ways, it might mean two of your crew is uniformly hitched.
"-Who would the couple be, Lass?"

"Well, I was thinking." Her tail is really twitching now. "We could, -heh, we could look through who we have and see if anyone feels that strongly about one another. And besides-"

She smiles at you with half of her mouth covered, her eyes seem to stare into your soul.
"Who did you think could get married?"

You suddenly remember Aligot and Camille. This might be the only chance the poor lad has to prove himself to her.
"I think Aligot and Camille would be a good fit."

Tuile seems to stiffen up,
"Really? Anyone else in mind, Jack?"

She looks backwards at Yuuki, who looks like she wants to say something but silently backs down.

"Well, I guess Cody and Amaretti could tie the knot. They're technically 'engaged', I guess."
"Anyone else?" She asks once more.

"Heh, I guess the knights getting married would be pretty funny-"
"Anyone else? At all!?"

>Nope!
>Well, I guess I could. Gotta think of who I would marry, tho. I guess it wouldn't count anyway.

"Madeleine could also marry someone. So could ye, now that I think about it. Now ain't that good idea?"
"UM."

"Ye don't mind marrying Madeleine, do ye? I mean, it would be impromptu, but-"
"JACK!"

Tuile's outburst is sudden, but gets the attention of more than a few onlookers.
"I was thinking maybe YOU, a strong man and our fearless leader, could marry someone instead!"
"Ooohh." You reach into your coat pocket.

"I could marry my booze!"
"Seriously, Jack! Why don't you, y'know, pick someone! I mean it's not like this is real and I doubt anyone will take it personally!"

Wait, who was talking about taking it personally?
"Aye dunno Lass, I'm kinda the captain and all. Plus it seems, I dunno, unprofessional to take from yer crew."

You think about it a little more as the crowd behind you pushes in to listen.
"How about this, find someone who wouldn't mind accompanyin' me for the ceremony and find some rings for us. We'll put on a big show and ferget it happened."
"Really? Just.. forget?"
"Yar, I'm a perfect gentleman, after all."
At least, you like to think of yourself that way.

"Rings? Uh! Okay!" Tuile wags her tail excitedly, "I can do that!"
"Yar, good."

You turn around to notice several people listening in from the shadows. You can make out Madeleine and Atsuko's tails in the silhouette of the moonlight.
"Yar? What're ye starin' at."

They quickly disperse. You search for the head maid once more.

She was serious about starting this as soon as possible.

Most of the maids are setting up the entrances to look wedding-like. The guards stand around and glance at her like she's insane.
Inside you can smell the faint smell of food being cooked. Preparations for the wedding?

She notes your approach and casually waves off the guards.
"So, have you decided what you're going to do?"
"Yar, Lass. We decided that we're gonna help."

"Help?" She seems a little inconspicuous, "What did you have in mind?"
"We were thinkin' of having a little distraction wedding. Think of it like a double wedding, only we would go first to act as cover for the youngins who would go right after. They could disguise themselves as flower girls even."

"That's!"

She grabs your hands.
"That's a genius idea! We already had several guards ask what we were doing, but this gives us a perfect cover! But-"

She looks back at the guards watching her.
"I think we should discuss this back at your caravan."
"Aye."

You slowly start walking back with her, she chats idly about the wedding and what kind of impromptu guests she could have to make it look legitimate. She comes to the conclusion that it's pretty much going to be your caravan, so you better make it look good.
"Speakin' of which, Lass." You stop her, "When were ye planning on having it?"
"Tomorrow, if possible."
"Yeowch, Lass. Aye haven't even decided which couple it'll be."

"Well, it's gonna be you, right?"
Yar, I guess so. Still don't know who my bride will be."

"… I don't think it'll be very hard to choose."
"I disagree, Lass. I always put captain duties above romance. Always have, always will. I've been kinda cold with my crew, just like my captain was always kinda cold with me. So findin' someone is gonna be-"

You're stopped just inside the caravan as someone emerges from it. In the darkness, you can feel yourself being watched by several someones.
"J-Jack!" A brown, fluffy-tailed Tuile seems to appear from the darkness. "A ring a-and a bride right? I came to give you both! Look!"
In her hand is a small case, with a tiny ring with a green stone on the inside.
"Jack! We think you should decide, but hear me out! Will you-"

"Hey! Hold on!"
A blonde ball of fluff erupts from one of the wagons. She hops out and jumps over to you.
Atsuko holds a ring with a tiny red gemstone that matches her face color right now.
"I'm the one who summoned you, so I should ask you first! Jack! We're practically married already, so it's only right that we-"

"Hang on, now."
Something very long and slithery wraps itself once around you, at the end of its tail, is a beautiful yellow gem.
"All of you are just borrowing my rings, so it's only right that I get to ask first."

"Um."
Yuuki awkwardly stands several steps away. In her hand is a tiny ring with a blue gem.
She snaps the case shut and slowly starts to back away. "Never mind!"
She takes several steps back before something grabs her shoulders.
"Hey! Weren't you going to ask Jack something, Yuuki?"
"N-no Camille! I changed my mind! It's okay! Bu-"

She yelps slightly as Camille pushes her toward you. She gains her balance just before pressing her face into your chest.
"Um! IknowIt'sJustForFunButWantedToTryItAnywayWouldYouMarryMe?"

You are suddenly aware of the intensely dangerous situation you're in. Each one of them stares at you eagerly awaiting your answer.

The head maid pats your shoulder. "Good luck."
"Wait! Lass! How do I solve this! What do I-"

Too late, she's gone.

Back to the eyes that seem to be drilling themselves into you.
"Errr."
