Well, an old quest ends, making room for a new one to start! Welcome to HEIST Quest! As the name implies, this quest will involve taking things that didn't originally belong to you, usually by force!

But before we get started, we need to know what kind of heister you are! Are a young newcomer, eager to make a name for themself in the criminal world, or are you an experienced hand, increasingly left behind by the slow, unstoppable advancement of time?

>MASTERMIND: Trained to master the art of social manipulation, Masterminds are highly charismatic individuals who can convince even complete strangers to do their bidding. They also like to have a wide support net, giving them greater options for planning out heists.
>ENFORCER: The muscle of the group, Enforcers have one job and one job only, which is to carry the biggest and heaviest gun both to intimidate hostages and to fight off cops.
>GHOST: Ghosts are stealth specialists, trained to get in and out of secure areas without anybody realizing it. A good Ghost is the one you never knew was there.
>TECHNICIAN: Technicians carry all of the specialized gear that makes any heist possible, such as drills, explosives, and drones. You have a need, and the technician most likely has something that can fill it.

/tg/ is not. They're truly not. /tg/ likes to play smart characters like they're absolutely retarded. More often than not there's a shitstorm because our "smart" character completely missed shit that was pointed out by the QM in multiple quests.

Playing a character that just follows the plan rather than making the plan makes it more enjoyable. We don't have to be retarded but we don't have to be "smart" either.

You are CARLY, a newbie heister eager to be one of the best in the world!

Currently, you were sitting in an abandoned storefront across the street from a Harvest & Trustee branch bank. Your "crew" was busy trying to work their way through the back door so they could quietly get into the vault. Since you were the designated gunner, you were told to wait in the hide spot to come out if things went tits up.

Unfortunately (or fortunately?), you had a feeling that was going to happen. Everything you've seen from these jokers was worse than amateur. You watch as they not so silently tried to pick the back door, not quite realizing that it had a MAGNETIC lock on it. Dad would be having a goddamn stroke if were watching this poor display of thievery. Well, you were already committed to the job. You couldn't back out now.

Kind of made you reflect on why you were even in here in the first place.

You were mostly doing this for the thrill. It's not like you actually needed the money. You were pretty well off, in fact. Dad made sure of that. However, that first time you saw him hit a bank, it was like love at first sight.

It was that moment you wanted to a heister just like him.

Heh, good times. Gooooood times.

Suddenly, you hear a loud explosion.

Oh no those idiots fucking didn't-

And the alarms start ringing.

Of fucking course.

"Carly, get in here!" You hear one of your crew yell.

"Don't say my name over the radio!" You hiss. "What the fuck happened?!"

"Emil blew the door! Get ready for the cops!"

Goddamnit. You shake your head and reach for your gear, wondering whether to go heavy or light. Heavy meant maximum firepower and protection, but light would give you extra mobility.

EOD suits don't even DO that much against actual bullets. They protect against the pressure wave, heat, and shrapnel of an explosion, but rifle rounds will go clean through the fuckin' things because their are no plates, it's all soft.
I know it's a dumb thing to sperg about but there are basically NO vidya where you don't have that gay shit anymore, because everybody feels the need to do what cowadoody did.

Well, if you were going to go in, might as well go all the way. You don your heaviest body armor, giving you full body protection. You then pick up your favored LMG, Big Mama, capable of spitting out heavy 7.62mm rounds at ungodly rates.

You make to dash across the street when you suddenly remember that you needed to mask up. You were in a Nixon mood today.

With a mighty kick, you smash the boarded up storefront window and jump out into the street. Those few civvies who decided to stick around after the explosion, either not realizing it or too dumb to care, are convinced to finally beat it when they see a heavily armored and armed figure bounding at them. They immediately clear the street.

"What are you guys doing?!" You yell.

"The vault autolocked from the alarm! We're drilling it right now! We need five minutes!"

Wonderful. You survey the scene, looking for a good firing position. You didn't have a lot of time, considering you could already hear police sirens in the distance.

>Set up in the bank. You'll have plenty of cover in there.

Also, 7.62 is most likely a GPMG, not an LMG. GPMGs have a full sized rifle round, which 7.62 is. LMGs generally have an intermediate round, like 5.56 or 5.45.

Even with your heavy armor, you've condition yourself to be able to move reasonably well in it. Without stopping, you vault through one of the bank windows, sending glass shards flying everywhere and causing the civvies inside to squeal in terror.

"We got two minutes!" You yell as you mount your MG on the windowsill, pointing towards the expected approach the police would be taking. "Once you pop the vault just grab what you can go! We don't have time to be fancy with the deposit boxes!"

"Hey hey hey, who made you in charge?" Emil grunts.

"WHEN COPS REALIZED YOU GUYS WERE HERE." You bellow back.

At this point, you could see the first few police cars swerving around the corner. You take a deep breath and sight in. You could shoot now and keep them a farther distance away, but they'd definitely start calling in backup when they come under MG fire. On the other hand, you could let them come in closer and approach cautiously. It might buy you a few precious minutes.

You hold off on the trigger a bit, letting the pair of police cars come in closer. Just regular squadcars. Basically recon. They wouldn't put up much of a fight. You watch as the two cars screech to a halt in front of the bank, with four officers total disembarking and taking cover behind their vehicles. They occasionally poke their heads out to get a look at the bank. They were no doubt calling in the fact that this was, in fact, not a false alarm.

Just don't make a move, you silently tell them. The last thing you need is dead cops to turn up the heat on you. Fortunately, these cops were cautious, deciding to stay back and let SWAT handle the heroics. However, ideally, you wanted to be out long before they got here. Hostage situations and sieges almost universally ended badly for the criminals.

"One minute!" Emil updates you.

Okay, so far so good-

Suddenly, you hear the hum of a VTOL hovering over the bank. That couldn't be possible. Standard police response-

No, one look at the VTOL showed you that it wasn't from the police. It was private.

Oh shit...

Suddenly, four blue-plated humanoid shapes drop down onto the pavement with loud CLANGS. Their optics hum to life as they activate.

"HALT. YOU ARE UNDER ARREST." They all buzz in unison.

Fuck. Policebots.

"Damnit!" You wince as you hold down the trigger. Your MG bucks in your arms as it spits lead death at the approaching bots. The one taking point doesn't even stand a chance, as it's shredded like paper under your heavy assault. Rounds punch into two others, causing them to short out and drop, while the last one backs off towards cover while firing its rifle, kicking up brick dust from near misses.

"SHOTS FIRED SHOTS FIRED. UNLOCKING DEADLY FORCE SAFEGUARDS." The policebot drones.

And after having mowed down three policebots in a matter of seconds, they're quickly replaced by four fresh ones, firing as they drop.

This wasn't supposed to happen! LA was supposed to be bot free!

"Grab the money! Make sure it's clean!" You instruct.

"But-"

"GOLD IS BAIT THAT SERVES TO GET STUPID ASS HEISTERS KILLED." You bellow as you keep pelting the approaching bots. Fortunately for you, these were the "blue" types. The cheapest ones available on market. Practically cannon fodder, but all they needed was one good shot at you. You risk a look back to see the rest of the crew bagging money as fast as they could, with your techie waving his magic tech wand over the stacks to check for booby traps.

"We're good to go!" Emil says. "Heading to the van!"

"Roger. I'll be right behind you." You say as you fire off another automatic burst. The street was choked with wrecked bots, but more just kept coming. Now all you had to worry about was figuring out how to properly disengage. At this point, all your gear was just weighing you down. You could just ditch it and run. None of it could really be traced back to you. However, you would eventually have to replace it, and you'd be more vulnerable in the meantime.

You let off one final burst before breaking from your position, loading in a fresh belt as you move. Big Mama's barrel smokes and glows from the sustained firing. Any more and you risked melting the barrel, and you sure as shit didn't have the time to change it out. You follow the rest of the crew out to the back parking lot. Fortunately, the cops haven't been able to close the perimeter yet, meaning your getaway van is ready and waiting. The crew tosses in several money bags into the back and hop in. You sprint as fast as you're able, but you feel several hammer blows at your back, causing you to stumble. You see a pair of policebots already rounding the corner, firing potshots at you. You ignore them and clamber your way into the van.

"GO GO GO!" You yell.

Emil hits the gas and the van lurches as it speeds away. The van pulls out of the parking lot, running down a couple of bots that can't get out of the way quickly enough. The police, both bot and organic, start firing, and you wince as holes are opened up in the van walls.

"Knew we should've shelled out for armor plate." You grumble to yourself.

"Okay, hit it!" Emil yells.

"Firing!" Your techie, Joe, hits the trigger on the EMP device.

Who says only the cops could get cool toys?

The short burst EMP is able to fry the bots and the police vehicles, at least temporarily. However, a window of even thirty seconds was all you needed. You a flash of blue as the EMP shockwaves shoots out, engulfing the bots and police cars in crackling lightning. Even the VTOL flounders in the air before regaining control. It's enough for Emil to get a few blocks away, where he pulls the van into a nearby alley which was the assigned dump site. The moment the van stops, you all begin piling your gear and loot into a nearby dumpster. Your dead drop to come back and recover when the heat died down.

"Okay, who's going to ditch the van?" Emil asks.

>>

"Fine, I'll fucking do it. Can't trust you clowns to do it right." You grunt. "I'll torch the van and you guys head for the safehouse."

Emil and his crew nod and disperse. With their gear stashed away, they now blended in with the crowd like regular civilians, and just like that, they're in the wind.

Typical. Good at running, crap at everything else.

You hop into the driver seat of the van and quietly pull out of the alley, making sure to keep an eye out for police. You can still hear the wail of sirens, no doubt combing the net. Fortunately, you wouldn't have to drive far. Just a block or two. Far enough away so that the police wouldn't accidentally stumble on the dead drop.

You find a nice, abandoned lot where you bring the van to a stop. You sprinkle some gasoline around the interior, making sure to focus on the real sticky bits that could pick up fibers or hairs. No sense giving them DNA samples to work with. You casually toss your lighter into the back of the van and there's a loud WHOOSH as flames engulf the van.

Well, job done. Now all you had to do was-

"Stop right there!" You hear voice behind you.

FUCK.

>>
>>38714762
"Haha, what seems to be the problem, officer?" You ask as innocently as you could manage. Talking was your sister's strong suit, not yours.

Fortunately enough, the cop doesn't seem to have his gun drawn. That was something, at least.

"You're under arrest on suspicion of arson and destruction of property." The cop grunts.

Haha. HAHAHAHAHAHA. You have to keep yourself from bursting out in laughter. This cop didn't even have a fucking clue!

You just give an innocent smile as you consider your options. His weapon wasn't drawn, which meant you'd have a few seconds to run away from him, but then that would just complicate things. This guy didn't have anything on you other than circumstantial evidence. He'd give you a ride to the station, where you could call Sis or Dad to bail you out, though you were a bit reluctant having to ask for their help.

Once your eyes start watering up, you decide to try your gambit. You're not nearly as good at acting as Sis, but you're a cute girl in a dangerous part of town. Only the most heartless of cops could resist your womanly charms!

Heh. Sis would have a laugh at you referring yourself as that.

"B-b-b-but I just came to investigate the f-f-f-fire!" You sob. "P-p-p please don't arrested me, officer! I'M TOO YOUNG AND CUTE TO GO TO JAIL!"

"Oh jeez." The cop sighs and scratches his head. "All right, I'll let you off with a warning, Miss. Now get outta here."

"T-thank you!" You smile as you skip off, leaving the confused officer behind in your wake.

Too fucking easy.

First things first, FOOD.

You walk idly down the street. With your gear off, there was no way for the cops to tell you apart from the civvies, and more than once you grin to yourself as a convoy of police cars or the occasional VTOL. They can search all they want but they weren't going to find anything.

You head to one of those many small hot dog stands that seemed to be on every corner in this part of down. You could really use something cheap and greasy like a hot dog, and from the looks of it, they were bacon wrapped, too! FUCK YES.

"So, what's going here?" You ask the vendor innocently as he prepares your hotdog.

"Another bank got robbed." He shakes his head as he hands you your meal. "Those guys don't know when to stop, you know?"

"Damn shame." You nod.

You quickly wolf down your bacon wrapped hotdog, licking the ketchup off your fingers as you take out your phone and dial up the Russian. She was the one that assigned you this job. Something of a "job interview", so to speak.

"You see the show?" You ask simply.

"Ah yes. Quite entertaining." The Russian's naturally thick accent chortles with amusement. "You certainly passed with flying colors."

"Well, it wouldn't be much an audition if your crew carried you through it!" The Russian chortles. "It's easy when everything goes right. II want to see what a person does when things go wrong, and you did not disappoint."

"Nice." You grin. "And the money? Do I get a share?"

"Take the whole thing!"

"This isn't charity from the bottom of your heart, is it?"

"More like, there will be nobody to share it with." The Russian says jovially. "The rest of your crew got caught trying to escape the police perimeter. They will not survive the night. I will see to that."

Yeah, The Russian was good humored and all, but she was still an infinitely terrifying woman. If you couldn't pull your weight, you were as good as dead to her.

"All right, so when do I start?"

"Now." The Russian says imply. "The money you stole should be more than enough to get you and your sister to Delta City. We will discuss things further there."

I like sour condiments the best with hot dogs, but it's nice to mix it up with Ketchup once in a while.

As long as one enjoys their hot dog, it matters not what they put on it.

I think a good question to ask is how long does this take place before/during/after CIMQ?

Maybe we cause things to happen before CIMQ, maybe we run parallel, or we just run amok in P-san's playground.

"Whoa, wait, Delta City? Robocop Central?" You gasp.

"The police robots are not as invincible as the public is led to believe they are." The Russian chortles. "And besides, we have methods of combating them."

"Um, okay, whatever you say." You respond, still a bit skeptical. "And uh, you haven't told my dad anything about this, right?"

"Not a word."

Good, because he would be PISSED if he found out you were heisting instead of studying like you should be.

"I will leave the arrangement of transport to your discretion. I look forward to the fruits of our arrangement." The Russian says simply before hanging up.

Heh, it looks like a new chapter on you life was opening up.

"So that's where you are!" You sister sighs. "You tell me your hitting bank, and don't call back, and don't answer your phone? Made me worried sick!"

"GAH!" You nearly jump into the air in fright. "Oh, hey Sam."

"So what did the Russian say? Are we in?" She asks.

"Yep. We are SO in!" You grin.

"Nice." Your twin sister grins as well.

Delta City, here you come!
