Knowing that woman she most certainly harassed the station attendants into writing down exactly the amount of letters she wanted and paid premium just to get that face in there. It comes at no surprise you forgot to mention the girl’s name either; She always had this thing with forgetting such details. I should see who we got from the north this time.

“Lady Witch, your refreshments”. My Descendant’s voice softly pulls me back to the present and I feel myself smile as Kyra lays out the tonight’s treats for us. By the goddess, she’s as gorgeous as she was a decade ago, the luxuriant tresses of her wavy chestnut hair in stark contrast to her creamy skin and close fitting - if still appropriately modest - white dress that shows the curvature of her body in all the right ways as she bends down to pour for Ekatarina, the blonde War Oracle accepting with the curt politeness so typical of her. Did she pick up on tha-- no, she wouldn’t read my mind, not like that.

I avert my eyes and look into my silvered tea cup hastily, cursing myself for the impropriety. My own rather squarish face - never more than just “comely” even in the best of cases - is in stark contrast to her heart-shaped one, and even beyond that it seems strange we’d ever fit together.

For a while we just sit around chatting idly, Kyra pouring for herself after I’ve taken the first three sips of my own tea, her adherence to propriety as unflinching as always.

A soft cough draws my gaze towards Noreen whose eyes flit between Kyra and the door before she raises her left eyebrow in question. I just roll my eyes and give a soft shake my my head in return. She’s staying, and I’m not going to hear another round of argument about “Witch business staying witch business” when all these words amount to is them just being unnerved by things things or people that are /different/ from themselves. Something in my look seems to have had the intended effect, because she sighs into her cup and gives the most imperceptible of shrugs.

“Alas, I am forced to cut short these pleasantries and direct our attentions towards the true subject of this evening. As many of you might know, The Weave has lately grown erratic, fate and chance appearing to be increasingly aberrant and malleable at least by the standards of this age…”

Our convocation stretches long past what I had planned, the women’s initial concern soon giving way to hushed debate and burning curiosity, their minds beginning to mull over the possibilities like so many well-oiled calculators. Of course, Ekaterina is once more the exception and it takes a lot to keep her from roping us all into one of her divination rituals. I suppose it’s to be expected; Nobody has seen as much as she has, and even fewer would honestly want to.

But then, science would never be complete without the voice of disagreement, right?

Human rights per se don't really exist because being human isn't considered something that really entitles a being to anything. Rather, they're people's rights since, as the rationale goes, you are born human but become a person through your behaviour and virtue.

Thus follows that the idea of natural, inalienable rights is, well, an alien one. All rights come from either divine edict or/and the way you act in relation to society.

Furthermore it has to be noted that the High Nobility isn't human to begin with which would make the concept a little hard to maintain under these circumstances. Clerics aren't either but that's a bit different..

As for rights, the right to property, freedom of religious practice and bodily integrity are generally considered very important, though from time to time the second one is being infringed upon - to the chagrin of the victims - with comparatively little recourse, though that is fairly rare.

On the flipside, beings that have lost their personhood have a fairly short list of rights which essentially is the same as the rules regulating excess animal cruelty.

Right. Expanding the cover to its maximum really isn't the best idea either because it just leaves us more and more people to be responsible for.
There's nothing stopping us from working with and interacting with people and witches outside our coven so I personally just want to keep it to the manageable 8 we have now.
