In the grim darkness of the 41st millennium there is only war. Imperium of Man, once strong and proud, now is slowly crumbling, whole regions of space are lost to the horrors that lurk in the darkness of the void. Sector Deus is just one of thousands of Imperial provinces that form the frontline in the war to defend Humanity itself. Corruption from within and aggression from without threaten it. But Emperor sends us hope. High Lords of Terra commissioned a Chapter of Adeptus Astartes, finest warriors Humanity has ever seen, to defend this region of space. They are the last line of defence that hold Age of Ruin at bay. They are the Ghosts of Retribution and this is their tale.

I don’t think we’ve had a recap thread before, so today, with more than a century of threads behind our belt, I think we should have one. Tales of adventures of old will bring warmth to the hearts of our veterans and maybe teach a thing or two our brave initiates. We’ll remember our history and then continue playing, after all we all want to know how the Trek ended…

So were should we begin..?

The first thread was started in the dark days of Year of our Lord 2012, in the Month of June. The first reply came from Berserker On Fire, a dedicated warrior & a drawfag who provided us with many fine pictures, may his bones rest in peace.
Since then we had many brothers serve the Chapter, many of them fell, while others survived and continue to fight for honour and glory!
Chapter roster:

+Chapter Master+
Brother Anonymous - Well, what can I say. You have always been the trickiest player to deal with. Innovative, stupid, insufferable, funny, demanding and most of all - unpredictable. It’s been an honour.

+First Company Captain+
Brother Luigi - Oldest of the old, unrelenting, faithful, enduring. Rumour goes he doesn’t need to sleep anymore, he overcame that human weakness sometime during the last century. Holds the awards of Iron Librarian and Top Contributor for ceaseless work on our wiki – 2200+ edits to date!

I would also like to use this opportunity to award Luigi with the Order of Valour for playing with us for 100 sessions and being the oldest Veteran! Three times Gloria to Luigi!

Gloria! Gloria! Gloria!

+Chapter Rogue Trader+
Brother Generic, also known as Machine Spirit - Mastermind behind Privateer Quest and a few other infamous ventures, always out to get more adventure and plunder.

+Sergeant of the Revenants+
Brother Epistolary Elias - Mostly silent, but deadly, he has provided with a lot of wonderful art and is starting to catch up with Luigi in contributions towards the wiki.

+Master Apothecary+
Brother Goju - Gets involved only when the shit is serious, but has been around since forever.

+Master of Spies+
Sister Mananoy - Shady as fuck, not once posted in a thread under her name, but always lurks in the chat. Only time will tell what she’s up to. Runs Le Keers Builder quest in the GoRe universe.

+Chapter Loremaster+
Sprocket – doesn’t participate in battles, but works day and night to gather knowledge from across the Sector

At this occasion I would like to award all of you gentlemen with the honourable award of Exelentia, for your unique and special contributions to the game! All of you have your own ways of improving GoRe universe, Machine Spirit is effectively a co-GM, sprocket writes fluff, Elias creates art (including the picture I used to start this thread!), while Goju has been contributing in his own way for a very long time. Finally Mananoy takes care of our chat and is starting to run quests of her own! You all deserve my deep appreciation and thanks.

Other valuable brothers who have served with us include:

+Terminators+
Brother Sergeant Tripmarine
Brother Venat
Brother Assassin

Terminators are the backbone of the Chapter, they hold when all other lines are broken. Sometimes slow, when they arrive to the battlefield, their impact is tremendous.
+First Company+
Brother Leutenant Ulfric
Brother Sergeant Wrenloft
Brother Ion
Brother Lyk
Brother Vjvjv
Brother Linnaeus

Most dependable of all battle brothers, they are the ones who bleed and die to achieve the victory for the Chapter. They are the ones who will be the first to charge into the breach in the enemy wall.
+10th Company+
Brother Initiate Dieter
Brother Initiate godemperor
Brother Initiate steelrain
Broter Initiate HI_hi-Hi
Brother Initiate Miri

These are young promising recruits who are still searching for the best way to put their talents to use. Will they become powerful librarians or fierce battle brothers? Only blood and iron will reveal their fate.
+Assault Marines+
Brother Sergeant Yarg / Pirate
Brother Bobptidou
Brother Scarred Veteran
Brother Blackjack217

These guys drive their enemies (and me) crazy, they are unpredictable, quick in their judgement and have no fear of consequences, which makes them ideal shock troops.

+Chapter War Bikers+
Brother Capital
Brother Adamus
Brother Blastwave

Almost as unpredictable as Assault Marines, War Bikers are the scouts of the Chapter, they are crazy and cunning in equal portions, they scheme and plan, but from time to time just go into berserk rage, destroying everything in their path.

+Dreadnoughts+
Brother Lurking Away
Brother Plated Wyrm
Brother Berserker On Fire
Old, wise, ancient and dead.

+Fallen Hero+
Brother Perrow – he might have turned to heresy, but he was a good soldier with an eye for detail. Unfortunate loss and a lesson to others.

All of you have earned the right to bear Bronze Wreath through your diligent service and participating in this quest.

And now, let us have a brief look at the Chapter History so far...

+History+

178.M41 = Demands among the High Lords of Terra for a new Founding. The name of Entyrus Zykion is appearing often in the records from those days, however nothing came out of this.

190.M41 = First attempt ends in failure. All official records are purged. Master Apothecary Klementhos remains the only one who remembers those days.

260.M41(circa) = Chapter Master is born in Terran underhive. While his childhood remains a mystery, his name is mentioned in the records of Imperial orphanage Yria-889. [redacted] was later recruited through there at the age of 8.

271.M41 = First official mentioning of Chapter -872- that is being formed on the basis of Raven Guard gene-seed. Main base designated for the formation of the Chapter is Lunar Fortress Quaradis Primus, there are no notes of a Founding taking place at that time, so it can be only assumed that the Chapter was created on an individual basis, possibly as an experiment or a pet project for one of the factions that play games of high politics on Terra.

Gods! I would have never thought that you will appear in one of our threads again! We missed you, Plated Wyrm, if you will ever find yourself with some free time - come back and we'll welcome you with veteran's honours!

[/spoiler] Seriously speaking I too sometimes feel as if I am too old to do this. Work and studies are forcing me to have thoughts like this.

+++

288.M41 = Entyrus Zykion, High Lord of Terra responsible for the idea of the Founding is assassinated on Terra. Records mention Adeptus Custodes being mobilised to track down the killer, but there's no mention of how the pursuit ended...

307.M41 = Ghosts of Retribution are Founded on Luna, Solar System.

309.M41 = Chapter arrives to Sector Deus. Their first destination is the sector capital, Tachion Primaris, where they announce their arrival the Sector Lord, Larion Ursus. Larion let's them know that he is not pleased by their coming, and vetoes any attempt from the Ghosts to establish a Fortress-Monastery on the planet. After that, they decide to visit the ice planet of Mormark, where they are given a hero's welcome. After that they form an alliance with Techpriests from Nestorium, and with their help, they begin building their Fortress-Monastery on Mormark.

During the completion of a pilgrimage to earn the local's favor, the Ghosts found an ancient system of catacombs, and activated a beacon which awakened and summoned Wrath(Men of Iron). This lead to Invasion of Mormark in year 325.

312.M41 = Chapter for the first time visit Varda, while accompanying Techpriest expedition. Ghosts engage Orks in a costly battle, losing 198 brothers, but securing ancient STC data. Afterwards a decision is made to cleanse Varda from Orks and settle it. Cleansing of Varda begins.

316.M41 = Tombstone, magnificent Chapter Monastery is finished on Mormark by Magos Archeomedes.

Interesting fact: Battle of Varda remains the bloodiest battle in Chapter history to date. Many scholars argue that Chapter's luck has improved in the recent decades after all!

317.M41 = Because of a lucrative offer from the Rogue Trader Dercius D'anger, the Chapter accompanies him to the Space Hulk "Dark Sister", in Subsector Cryptus. During this raid the Chapter had their first encounter with the traitor marines of the Red Giants, and found that the "xeno art" that Decius wished to retrieve, was instead a chest full of Eldar Soulstones. However an infiltrated Eldar agent took their prize and teleported himself to the Eldar ship. Chapter Master rushed to stop him and was teleported along, this way he was captured by the Seekers, a group of Wuxide Craftworld Outcasts.

Cleansing of Varda from Ork infestation is finished.

Chapter Master wins his freedom from an Eldar in a game of regicide. As part of a deal, she shares a prophecy in turn of help from Chapter Master on an uncertain time. After this, the Chapter Master is released on planet Hades. He tries to contact his brothers, but almost perishes, managing to survive only by making a deal with Laughing God. Meanwhile the Chapter is ruled by the council of senior marines. Brother Arcon founds the Soulkiller cult and becomes Captain. Since no unanimous decision was made on succession, it was decided that they'll wait 10 years for the Chapter master's return.

321.M41 = Chapter Master returns from Limbo into the reality on Mormark. Brother-Librarian Anterion rushes to meet him, but dies in a land-speeder accident. Chapter Master suspects it was sabotage, but it was never confirmed. Meanwhile, Nestorian Adeptus Mechanicus requests the Chapters' help in retrieving Magos Fram, who was kidnapped by Sisters of Battle under orders from High Cardinal Astrobelus Kest. Ghosts of Retribution proceed to liberate him by intimidating the sisters, and while no causalities have been suffered on either side, the sisters promise that legal action will take place.

Funny fact: Chapter Master has a name in my notes and there are also three and a half(?) possible reasons why his name will be redacted out of all Imperial materials in the future. It remains to be seen which one of those paths you will take. So far you have been balancing on the edge of the blade very well, I cannot see what future you will pick yet... Maybe you'll evade them altogether, like you did with the Laughing God choice. It remains to be seen.

322.M41 = True to their words, the Order of Bloody Tears accuses the Chapter of heresy before Imperial Court. Chapter Master arrives to Tachion Primaris to partake in the trial, but failing to heed to the prophecy, he was betrayed by Henrikus Isdavik, supposed to represent and defend the Chapter, but instead "confessed" sins that Ghosts have allegedly have done and then commited suicide. Afterwards Chapter Master was immediately seized and Inquisitor Faceless started investigating his case.

While staying on Tachion Primaris, Chapter seizes Dresos Kand, merchant who was dealing in illegal xeno goods. However they are caught by Inquisitor Faceless in the act of trying to hide some of the Tau Pulse rifles that were taken from the merchant. The Chapter is blackmailed into the Inquisitor's servitude.

Operation Ghostly Justice on Inaria, ordered by Faceless.

324.M41 = Chapter escorts Adeptus Mechanicus expedition, but is attacked by Sisters of Battle from the Order of Bloody Tears.

084-173.325.M41 Second phase of the Invasion, Men of Iron are surrounded and solid fronts.

173-289.325.M41 Third phase of the Invasion, Mormarkian forces managed to break the deadlock and advance deep into enemy rear, but are in the danger of being surrounded.

290.325.M41 Ghosts of Retribution deploy IInd Company in Operation Ice Spear against Wrath.

291-360.325.M41 Fourth phase of the Invasion, bulk of Mormarkian forces are surrounded and cut off from their supply routes, Men of Iron now have a clear path to Capital and Tombstone.

001-003.326.M41 Fifth phase of the Invasion, the Siege of Kanihirium begins.

003.326.M41 With enough causalities on both sides, the Men of Iron offer to parley. Chapter Master decides to meet them on their mothership. After they relentlessly refused to acknowledge that they are no longer in the 29th millenium, and refused to make peace, wanting nothing but assimilating them Mormarkians, the Chapter Master decided to destroy the Wrath mothership in a daring action in which he fought trough the ship and detonated it's power core, making a daring escape.

==== Invasion of Mormark ends ====
Rebuilding works begin in Mormark, however locals still face minor resistance from the Men of Iron that were left behind on the planet. Mormark is isolated by the orders of High Lords of Terra for 50 years. Post-war famine begins. By the end of the year Prothera is attacked by Traitor Astartes and Ghosts of Retribution answer the call for help. Ensuing battle is inconclusive.

327.M41 Chapter brings some refugees from Prothera to assist in Varda's colonisation. Chapter visits Oskea secures food supplies for Mormark. Chapter Master sacrifices his pride to save those who fought for him, from starvation. Famine is temporarily lifted.

328.M41 After a warp accident, the Chapter stumbles upon the forbidden world of Olympia. Having their ships under repair, they are stranded there for three months. Chapter Master decides that they make use of their time by boarding a ship drifting in orbit. On the ship, from inside of a locked vault, they find and retrieve the relic Gatebreaker, and save 300, untainted pre-heresy Iron Warrior Geneseed. Unfortunatley upon leaving the system they meet Silent Guardians, who are tasked to guard Forbidden worlds, such as Olympia.

329.M41 Chapter betrays Rogue Trader Dercius D'anger, in excange for the items they received from Olympia, and the Guardian's discretion. Sending Dercius to an ambush where Silent Guardians are waiting for him - they want his head for breaching quarantine of the Forbidden worlds that they protect, getting away with it, selling the found items form it, and shaming them in the eyes of the Inquisiton.

The Chapter Master swears loyalty to the sector lord Larion Ursus, in turn of help from now in, and permanent food supply for Mormark.

Sergeant Gaius of the Ultramarines visits and bestows gifts to the Chapter Master to open political relations.

330.M41 Chapter fights Arcon's Third Soulkillers Company on Inaria. In the end peace is made, and misunderstandings are settled. However too much blood have been spilled, resulting in Chapter being split, with Arcon and most of his Soulkillers being sent on a penitent crusade of sort. This tragedy is henceforth known as the Shattering.

331.M41 Around this date Inquisitor Faceless, who has been told, that Dercius D'anger was a heretic, goes missing while investigating what happened to him.

Proceeds to extract Farseer Adriel from Ashkenor's captivity and force Ashkenor to flee the planet. Adriel tells Chapter Master that the world of Kruun, where he sent aid on request, must fall or a far greater catastrophy will follow. After Chapter Master agrees, they go to Tachion Primaris. While trying to sense for a webway gate that would help her to return to her people, and provide a good excuse for Chapter Master to withdraw forces from Kruun, Adriel falls to coma when sensing something very disturbing from Chapter Master.

After a some inquiry and negotiation, Chapter Master decides to disallow marriage between Sergant Lusmer and Anastasia Belladon.

"Monstrum: Adeptus Astartes" is written.

333.M41 Chapter confronts Daikan Alepros and his pirates on Tartarus while trying to save Vindicare Ceiron. 336.M41 Adriel woke up from her coma, but is still too weak to use her powers, or return to her kin. The origin of the Void Squad have been revealed to them, but this merely strengthened their resolve to be part of the Chapter

337.M41 Destruction of Dark Sister space hulk - Ghosts are victorious and Ashkenor is destroyed along with his base and all of the Red Giants that were there at the time. A golden statue, holding a power sword have been collected from the Red Giant base, which apparently held great value to the sorcerer.

341.M41 High Imperial Court decides in the favor of the Astrates, and forces Iron Monks to pay reparations to the Chapter and gives up many of their leaders. Haran Dreifus, who lead the attack, is declared heretic, and a bounty declared for his capture. "Monstrum: Adeptus Astartes" is banned.

342.M41 Chapter launches Operation Dormant against an Ork asteroid swarm, which is about to hit Wladistan. Crashed Thunderhawk of unindentified origins on Sygma-477 is recovered. The crew of the ship "Strongback" which rebelled against the Iron Monks, and helped the Ghosts instead, have been spared of execution and slave labor because of the legal appeal from Chapter Master. They are re-employed in the service of the Chapter.

Inquisitor Eisenhorn arrives to the sector, asking the Chapter Master's help in investigating Inquisitor Quixos.

Operation Unseen Blade is executed. Adriel leaves to return to Wuxide Craftworld.

So, now that we are done with Chapter history and recap, I will create a new thread for us to play in! if you still have any questions about the past or the quest in general, I am happy to answer them in this thread tonight.

No idea. I voted yes. Its stupid and silly, and we have our eldar waifu so we're being hypocritical anyway.

Because it's a stupid idea
>>
>>38590477
>Oh yeah I forgot about that why did we say no again?
iirc we didn't want the marine to have a legal connection to something outside the chapter. We didn't force him to break it off but no marriage.
>>
>>38590649
That's a terrible explanation.
>>
>>38590692
I remember it from my archive binge like a year ago but I don't remember the specifics was she apart of a large organization or something?
>>
>>38590793
>I remember it from my archive binge like a year ago but I don't remember the specifics was she apart of a large organization or something?
She was part of the sector nobility, so it drags him into politics. Last thing we want is Belladon rivals being offed by a mysteriously astartes shaped assassin.
>>
>>38590763
Well it could be problematic if the chapter ever had to act against that family. It'd also take the marine away from his duties, with the potential to divide his loyalties.
>>
>>38590817
Eh, we do that anyway though.
>>38590840
To be fair, that's true of everything else. Friends, acquaintances, ect.
And there are upsides to having political ties.
>>
>>38590477
I must admit I was a little disappointed by the choice during my research of the archives, so I just got straight to the point, not inquiring further.
The only factual thing I can tell, is that in the visions we casted afterwards some possibilities were shown. That many other marine would ask for permissions to marry, we get dragged into sector politics, or we get helped by the Belladon Dynasty, and the possibility of a son born from their union who would become a marine himself, and would make a name for his own in a great invasion , alongside the Ultramarines, against a terrible entity.
>>
>>38590925
I think basically it was just a big can of potential problems we didn't want to open.
>>
>>38590956
Among other things it was. We have way more trouble and opportunities anyways we can barely handle
>>
>>38590817
>>38590925
Alright thanks for the reminder I'd honestly doubt she'd try to drag him into her politics that deeply but hey what's in the past is in the past
>>
>>38590763
Fine. The entire premise was silly from the beginning. A 7 foot tall genetically engineered transhuman who previously had spent every waking moment training for war should have no idea how to interact with an opposite gender human and furthermore no interest. Astartes can be many things but charming Don Juan types is not on that list. Before people make the argument that some chapters like Salamanders care (note there is no mention of marriage) for normal humans they are conditioned from the very beginning for it and it is integral to their chapter in a way that the GoR very much do not have. In addition this human female was a member of nobility and marriage to her would almost certainly have dragged us into political intrigue which is not where I would like CMQ heading and could have jeopardised the chapter in-game. Such a union would inevitably have lead to long discussions here and in chat about Astartes' ability, or lack thereof, to have intercourse with a woman 20% of his mass and procreate. I have no desire to discuss the size, functioning and characteristics of a Space Marine's willy. Such a marriage would have been a distraction from his duties and drama could have arisen when he inevitably had to leave his family to perform other duties, when he died before her in combat, when she died before him of old age, if any children were endangered, etc. Also if I recall correctly the Marine in question actually had the temerity to try to disagree with orders to break up the relationship. Astartes do not have the luxury of disobeying a direct order from their chapter master.

Is this a sufficiently detailed explanation of my point of view or does your autism require more?
>>
>>38591089
Ease up Trip. For the record I think it's my fault for making it sound too cold in the chronicles. I'll add the reasoning to it later.
>>
>>38591089
So basically, it went against your personal interpretation of canon (an astartes sex life has always been vague and contradictory) so you loath it, got it.
>>
>>38591207
If you want to disagree fine but don't leave out 2/3 of my reasons. It would also have led to drama I didn't want and taken the quest places I didn't want it to go.
>>
>>38591253
I just want to mention how absurd your desire to stay out of politics is. You do realize that the second most powerful man in the sector wants the entire chapter dead right? And that by "refusing to play politics" you're basically letting him maneuver and slander against us unhindered?

+The Trek+
You have decided to go on a Trek without armour, just with the weapons. Your goal was to gain their respect and understand Ice Wraiths.
=Conditions=
Weather: 74 - Stormy
Men: 74 - Distant and Withdrawn
Path: 71 - Some dangers
Beasts: 30 - No encounters

The Trek was a daunting task. The leader of your squad, Sergeant Grison, told you that you are going to hike northwards for about 600km, while doing various tasks along the way, until you will reach the Ice Valley, where Harmantos and other squads who are making the Trek will meet you. In your group there are 4 brothers - Sergeant Grison, Brothers Loxir, Vamod, Arden and Kastus.
>We have lost others during the battles against Men of Iron. Never received replacements.
There's a note of hidden scorn in Grison's words.
>But the rule remains - each squad makes the Trek individually, even if there's just one of us left alive. We have to rely on ourselves and this is one of the most important lessons that the Trek teaches us.
As you began to march, you soon noticed that you always appear to be among the Ice Wraiths, but not with them, somehow they don't consider you to be part of their group. You are from the higher ranks, you don't follow their faith, you are not a part of their squad. They keep their conversations with you short, polite and to the point. Among themselves they are a little bit more open, however their hearts are made of ice. You know that if it was Deathwishers, by now they would have already started singing marching songs or chatting about their past battles, but Ice Wraiths are different.

As you make way, terrain gets harder with each step. Unlike in Terra or Luna, Mormark has mountains, real MOUNTAINS, geoscanner servitor has mentioned once that the highest peak on Mormark is close to 18km in height.

What? who came up with that idea, so just stole a heretek cogi from the sectot gov and the next thing we do is going on a multi month vacation, giving every one ample time to cover their tracks and playing pingpong with our chapter, because everybody knows we nicked that. (armor shutdown)

Some people (such as myself) wanted to make an offshoot chapter with heresy geneseed. Others understandably were wary and wanted to get rid of it. Somehow we decided to use the worst of both options and voluntarily give up part of the geneseed and make a small number of heresy marines. This is why I laugh when skargan tells us how good we are at planning.

Despite being an Astartes, you find the Trek exhausting. On average you march/climb 20 hours a day and sleep for 3. The rest of the time is spent on a single meal, usually a giant ice bat you killed on the way or some creosaurus eggs which you find in mountain lairs. After the third day, you climbed one of the peaks along the way and Grison waved his hand, giving you a sign to stop.
>Now we praise the sky and the ice.
He and other four brothers knelt in the snow and started to sing. The song was very deep, long and coming down from the very bottoms of their throats. You knelt by their side, looking at them, waiting for them to finish. They didn't. The song took them seven hours to complete, they continued despite the storm that started later in the day. Will you join them in their praise? if yes, roll d100.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qx8hrhBZJ98

After you finished, Trek continued. You were lucky as no beasts crossed your path, however other dangers have endangered you and your companions. Roll d100 Strength and d100 Endurance to see how you dealt with them.
>>
>>38592555
I'd like to make one or two more. They excel at tasks we do not, and if I want to use them in big exploits that change the mind of the HLoT about them, then we need more than one.

With our voice we wake up the necrons sleeping dormant under the glacier?
Our crude imitation of singing is remarkably close to the rutting call of the gigantig ice vultures?
Some sea lion youth thinks we are his mother and tries to follow us?

As you are approaching your destination path is getting ever more treacherous. The sun sets, but Grison is adamant - you need to push on in order to reach the Ice Valley in time. However the storm that's been raging for the past few days is not helping at all. Hailstones the size of an apple are bombarding you, making it hard to march. Suddenly, ice creaks and something cracks underneath the feet of your party. You quickly jump to the side, Grison and Loxir do so as well. Vamod stabs his spear into the ice wall and remains hanging above a thousand-meter fall below him, where once your path was, Kastus slips, but is quick enough to grab Vamod's ankle. Arden slides down into the darkness, he doesn't fall straight down, but rather bounces from the ice cliff and disappears in the mist below. You weren't quick enough to save Arden, but you help Kastus and Vamod to climb back up onto the road. Grison's face is grim.
>False ice path. Almost got into such situation last year. We need to vote. As a Sergeant I don't think Arden survived, but we cannot be sure. Should we search for him and risk more dangers, especially now that we are exhausted and our supplies run low, or do we push on to meet with others in time? We must also respect Arden, he's a Wraith, if he survived, he will come back.

You have decided to take part in the song. Your voice, while unpracticed, was strong and beautiful, it went well with the chorus of other Ice Wraiths. Singing was taxing physically, but helped you clean up your mind and thoughts. You lose 1 Corruption as your soul is cleaner and gain 1 Heresy as you engage in unorthodox practices.

The others are also happy with your suggestion and you feel that while they still have their reservations, in general they do trust you a lot more now!

Creosaurus is a 4 meter long hot-blooded lizard-like creature with six legs. It hatches eggs and can snap an autocar in two, it's jaws are very powerful. However it is relatively rare as Mormarkians hunt it for it's leather. Creosaurus is also a common name in low gothic to refer to all cold-habitat lizards in general, so different kinds of Creosaurus might be encountered on different planets. (creo - cold; saurus - lizard).

Your party soon reaches Ice Valley. It opens up before you just as you climb over the last mountain chain that was separating your squad from the destination of the Trek. Suprisingly, the valley itself is green, high mountains protecting it from icy winds. You wonder why they decided to call it Ice Valley, but you shut up and follow Grison. As you climb down, you soon notice that there's a big campsite in the middle of the valley with close to 30 marines living there. Apparently you are the last ones to arrive.

However if you will want to participate in that part, you will have to promise that what you will see or hear will not spread beyond this valley. We understand that our cult is not exactly orthodox and we don't intend to seek confrontation by bringing it outside of our brotherhood... Do i have your promise?

Do you promise?
Yes/No/Lie (roll Deceive, d100)

Challenges & exercises:
1. You get to fight multiple opponents (roll WS)
2. You participate in a boulder throwing competition (roll ST)
3. You dive with others in a nearby lake (roll Endurance)
4. You will hunt Giant Ice bats with your bare arms (roll Agility)
5. You will practice catching arrows in flight (roll Perception)

Will you participate in the ritual with the Wise Ones?
1. Yes, as a participant
2. Yes, as an observer
3. No, I will not
4. No, but I will secretly sneak in after it starts

It was a roll to see how widely Unsettled will spread, as Laptus is a chaplain who preaches. Instead, he decided to cancel sermons while you are away, so it remains contained.

>Yes
Do not lie.

I vote 1. Fight Multiple Opponents
And 2. Yes, as an observer.

I promise but my oath to the Emperor is, and always shall be, above any other that I take. If you can accept that then let us begin.

>Challenges & exercises:

Since there are no willpower tasks this one is best.

>Will you participate in the ritual with the Wise Ones?
2. Yes, as an observer

(creo - cold; saurus -

Okay I'm sold adding Grabbing a bunch of eggs to the list after we wrestle an alpha Gnar for dominance and break in a Ice bat like its a horse

When the fights started, you immediately volunteered to participate. Within moments you knocked out four Ice Wraiths and took Grison into a deadlock. Others also tried their luck against you, but after same results for a few days in a row, everybody agreed - you were the strongest melee combatant in the camp. Only Harmantos never challenged you. Maybe he was afraid to lose in front of his men? Or maybe he respects you too much? You are still not sure. You gain d2 Weapon Skill. If you wish, you may try your hand at one more challenge before the ritual. (pick & roll)

"Harmantos, you and the Ice Wraiths served the Chapter and the Emperor skillfully and loyally so far. I promise that the secrets you entrust me shall not leave my lips, however you must understand that I can only keep my word as long as you or the Wise Ones won't threaten the Imperium and mankind with your actions. Be assured in the last 35 years of your faithful service I haven't seen the slightest hint of that, but you must understand the terms of my secrecy"

ooc I want at least two votes on this to announce our yes for the rituals with these terms

Catching arrows apparently is a favourite past-time for Ice Wraiths. It's your first time in many years since you practiced this skill, but you manage to surprise everyone by taking out up to 12 arrows in a row before one of them hits you. Naturally, you train without arrowheads, so apart from mild pain arrows are harmless. Unlike in close combat, you are not the Champion, but you are among the best, Kastus managed to take out 17 arrows in flight before being hit. Harmantos once more refuses to participate.

When the day of the Ritual comes, Harmantos comes to your tent in person.
>Come, it is time.
He gives you a simple set of white clothes and smiles.

>As you will be only an observer, please do not speak at all during the whole ritual. You will enter together with others, sit in the location which I will show you and remain there until we are done.

After he receives your agreement, he leads to towards the cave in the mountainside, most of the other marines are already there. They wear white tunics, just like yours, but you notice, that they bear various small offerings, such as honey, meat, even standard IG rations.

When you enter the cace, Harmantos shows you were to sit and you do so. Other marines go closer towards something what looks like a rock shaped in a strange way and then they all sit down. Then Harmantos starts to sing the way you did back on the mountain peaks together with Grison's men. Other brothers follow his example. After a few minutes of this singing, shapes appear on the other end of the cave and Gnars appear.

I was going to go on, but 2000 sign limit and late hour stopped me. Thank you for playing and goodnight, we'll play next Monday! (unless I have a free evening earlier, which is unlikely, monitor the chat!)
