Previous Thread: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/38382261/
Our Current Stats: http://pastebin.com/iahm4JSj (Please have a look at them, but don't feel obligated to read it all in one sitting- use it as a guideline if you're drawing a blank or need some contextual information as I've essentially compiled every piece of information that's relevant to our civilization.)
Our Current Bestiary: http://pastebin.com/TWY0QfWA (Please have a look, but don't feel obligated to read it in one sitting- it's VERY extensive and currently in "alpha" since I'd like to make an illustrated pdf.) *updated: a few new animals.*

Times have changed: The Progenitor is no more, the merpeople build their kingdoms and country, the dragons have returned, and as you'll soon find out even the Zizz has made it's leave. The world is fresh, it is fertile and vivid- New opportunities abound and it is within your chance to take advantage of them.

>+/- Political Development: The Coral City.
>The Merpeople as well as a splinter-faction of Cyclopes from the South and even your own civilization have joined together to form and build a large, floating, commercial maritime city. Supported upon the bones of the Progenitor and built within the Coral itself; it has become quite the city-state in it's own right and has become a major hub for trade between your own civilization, the south, and the neighboring mer-people communities. The city is "amphibious" in that it has both dry and wet districts that serve and provide numerous purposes, housing, and businesses.
(post 2 incoming, please be patient.)
>>
>+/- Ecological Development: The Spring of Zizz
>He has parted the sky open like curtains and flown back up into his realm that lays beyond the clouds and the winds he has created in his wake have brought back all the rain he had denied the plains for years. You can scarcely recognized the plains anymore: Rain, nearly regular and constant rain that nourishes and hydrates the parched and lightning struck land. The rain washes away the turmoil created by the Zizz and in almost an act of apology or compensation it fills the land with a green and healthy hue not seen for hundreds of years. Animals are currently thriving, the ant people's have been culled to a managable level by flooding, the changelings are flourishing, and that warm, dry, unbearable breeze brought by the Zizz has been replaced by a damp, fresh, and earthy scented one.

>+/- Economic Development: Dragon Hunting.
>The Southern Continent has a Dragon problem; They have 7(14 adult dragons) breeding pairs of Frost Dragons and although that might not sound like much they annually produce over 8400 eggs a year and almost like clock work flood the skies, fern forests, grasslands, and shores with flocks of Whelpings. Most of them are of course eaten by predators, but a handful every few decades reach Adolescents and every hundred or so years reach Adulthood. The south has created a small economic boom from the hunting and processing of Dragons, they are an excellent source of many commodities: Meat, Hide, Bone, and Reagents.

>+Personal Development: Your Observatory is complete, Akalade is your guide to the Stars.
>Akalade in prompt fashion has completed your Observatory; it is located in the hills neighboring the mining city just north of the province of Mycea's grove. The Observatory is unto itself a small town of Astronomers and needs to be fed and supplied by the nearby villages and communities; making it's upkeep quite expensive, but it has the potential to offer a wealth of knowledge.

>High End Success

You've been capable of building boats and rafts since the dawn of time: fishing vessels and even longboats and canoes that are strong and capable enough to weather the ancient storms and waves to get you to the Southern Continent and it's Icy Shores... You've been slacking though in contemporary times with your advancements in water craft as of late, but that is about to change:
Purchasing designs from the South and improving and innovating upon them using the unique physical qualities of FUNGAL WOOD. Fungal wood is hollow on the inside layered upon rubbery structures that allow Fungi to grow beyond any feasible normal expectations. It also makes exquisite material for boats as it allows them to be made BIGGER and BETTER.

>+"True" Ships invented+
>True Ships are not dinky little two layered Boats with a deck and a bit of storage space; True ships have three floors to them which can provide room for bunks, storage, and oars/paddle rooms. These vessels are also so large they can comfortable be armed with weapons: Spear heads (to deter sea monsters, etc.) and even Ballistie.. if you had them. True Ships typically have Two to Three Sails and make a humongous difference in terms of trade; one big ship vs sending many small ships.

>+More Furniture Commodities Invented+
>Chairs, Bowls, Spoons, Mugs, etc.. A handful of perfectly mundane goods and commodities also get created as a by product; they're not a breakthrough invention or anything like that, but they make life more comfortable and with proper technique and coatings Fungal wood do make excellent dishes and bowls- a welcome and inexpensive change from CLAY.

>Further improve relations between the Cyclops and the Merpeople, and if possible, welcome them into the fold.
>Roll 11/20
>Lucky Roll 11. Interesting Results.

The Merpeople are a quiet race; they can't speak, they communicate through telekinesis and even then it can be difficult to "truly" understand them as the technique involves piecing together thoughts and memories to visually communicate new ideas and concepts within ones mind.. which can be subjective and uncomfortable, so naturally diplomacy is slow. Hand gestures though and the introduction of a written language have been slow but successful; some merpeople can actually READ Cyclopean, so it's a start.

Sufficed to say though, Merpeople remain more comfortable with your Maritime and Fishing communities: They freely trade goods with one another, they spend an awful lot of time together working, and sporting teams have begun to sprout up within communities to play something resembling beach volleyball.... This has however lead to some important and interesting developments:

>+Volleyball Invented
>Volleyball is a lot like "Soccer" but instead of using your feet you use your hands, head, or tail-fin in the case of the merpeople and is usually played with both parties immersed in about waist-height water and two large rocks built to represent the "court". Volleyball is unheard of inland, but it's popularity is steadily rising in maritime communities and has dramatically increased the amicable relationship of the Merpeople and the Cyclopes species.

>+New Crop: Kelp+
>Kelp is a long, green, wavy, plant that grows on the outskirts of reefs upon rocks; the Merpeople find it disgusting and only consume it as a famine food- typically only growing it so consumed fish may lay their eggs in it. YOUR people however find it absolutely delicious. The Merpeople have noticed this though and they've patiently spent time teaching and instructing your people how to cultivate and grow their own Kelp.

All across this great world there are numerous and diverse beasts of varying size, danger, and delicious'ness: Carnotaurs with Blood tinted and Scarred hides roam the dusty plains, Humongous white furred Frost Dragons bring shadows in the skies of the southern continent, and the mighty Therasaur with it's disarmingly silly waddle roam your very own Jungles... Why, even YOUR own people could be considered a vicious and terrifying beast if they didn't know any better.

The Plains though are by far the worst offender in terms of creatures you've never seen before or would prefer NOT to deal with on a regular basis if you can help it; the mountain range you operate your mining town and observatory in ALONE is home to an indigenous species of Wyvern that into itself is enough of a handful.

>+Cultural Invention: Hunter's Tower Sentry
>A blind is a camouflage little hut that resides on game trails so that Hunters may stalk and wait patiently for game to arrive.. A Hunter's Tower Sentry though is a large, Sentry tower that is manned by at least 2 people to keep an Eye out for Wyverns, Dinosaurs, and other creatures that either disregard civilization or are not afraid of raiding it.

Why don't we just take this roll instead:
>>38543294
>Create new and improved musical instruments.
>Roll 94/100
>Complete Success +Foreign Influences.

Instruments as you can imagine play a humongous and extremely important role within your people's culture: History is analog through song and The elements and vary nature of reality is naughty by the eternal and endless composition of a symphony of endless souls in tandem. Currently though, your musical instruments have been quite limited- one does not simply "invent" new instruments in your society; each one is as sacred as the last and development can be slow, but through outside influences you've come to accept some new ones and invent your own.

>+Gorgon Instrument: Shamisen
>The Shamisen is a STRING instrument, this is unheard of in your culture, but is something more common place within Gorgon Society. The Shamisen is an instrument more common within the Manticore tribe and originally invented by the Gorgon empire through Elven inspiration; it has a delightful and enticing "twanging" sound to it as is extremely iconic within Rural gorgon culture. Made out of firm jungle wood with the strings tide and down either by hydra sinew or fungal 'leather'. It is inexpensive to produce and a welcome addition to your culture- it's popularity has exploded in popularity within Mycea's grove due to Country Cyclopean Folk having their Manticore Tribe wives strum them sweet folk songs during cool spring evenings.

>+New Instrument: Zither Invented+
>The Zither is a string instrument inspired by the Gorgon Shamisen. The Zither is LARGE and square shaped, resembling a cross between a harp and a guitar (if you had either of those, that is). The Zither is special in that it can be strung with METAL strings- specifically designed and crafted by Cyclopean Artisans to twine and produce only the most pleasing sounds. The Zither is expensive and usually only played during special occasions.
>>
>>38544573

Oh, and one more:

>+Merperson Instrument: Ocarina
>The Ocarina was at one point an underwater musical instrument, which in it's own subversive way sounds obvious, but is difficult to wrap your surface dwelling head around. The Ocarina as you know it is a wind instrument originally introduced to your culture by the merpeople hundreds of years ago as a somewhat ominous artifact; you've managed to finally replicate it though. The Ocarina produces a sad and nostalgic tune- one that reminds your people of an ancient time when life wasn't so complicated, when beings were content to simply "be", when ancient evils were placated by the primitive innocents of humanoids, and when the ocean didn't bring constant change, turmoil, or drama- but only the comforting brushing sound of waves on sand.

>+Cultural Innovation: Orchestra
>The Orchestra is something that ties into your cultures practice of dramatizations and plays; Orchestras are finally possible now due to the diverse and explicit diversity present in the variety of musical instrument you now possess: Drums, Flutes, Bells, Ocarinas, Digirdoos, Shamisens, Zithers, etc.. You have the makings of some of the finest musical theaters this side of the continent.

>We use sauropods with hover-pots to make better, more bulky, long term transport across our land based trade networks.

We've been talking about this for the past dozen threads, I don't think we can make it happen. We've already asked all the gods about it, and they pretty ubiquitously put the notion down. I don't know why exactly, but it would seem that our creators simply do not or cannot alter the reproductive mechanisms of our respective species. >Success, +Changelings

The great beasts that walk the earth and soar through the skies have always been something your people have either casually avoided or have had their taming efforts been mired by constant failure.
The Changelings however sympathize: They have circumvented and traveled the entire super continent in the bloom and glory of their own Empires age and have come to know many diverse, terrifying, amazing, and beautiful creatures. Their.. techniques and proccesses though for taming such creatures is something of a point of Controversy.

The Traveling Circus that has been frequenting The Province of Mycea's grove hosts a true wonder; a trained and performing Giga-Mammoth, the beast is so large it is actually used to carry most of the circus as a beast of burden. When it is not used for manual labor though, it displays amazing performances and wondrous feats that display the breadth and dimension of it's strength, size, and majesty.. But it's performance leaves a bitter taste in the mouths of your people: The Creature is kept chained, the tusks have been docked and filed down, it shows visible signs of whipping and physical abuse around it's legs and around the eyes and rear-end.

The Changeling Ring master is questioned on his techniques, "We distract the parents using pit traps, fire, and riders on horse back before we rope and steal away the Calves, now, the calves are obviously quite large and spirited- so we have to train them through the use of whips, irons, and chains or else they simply refuse to listen to us. We've tried breeding them obviously, but such magnificent creatures can live for hundreds of years and naturally breed slowly. The entire process is quite expensive and time consuming, but we find the end results are worth it." The Changelings slithers and extends a wiggling mass that turns into a hand and arm so he may tip his hat.

>Success, +Manticore Influence

The Manticore Tribe's culture is quite explicitly and graphically "bat shit crazy" by your own people standards: They are ruled by a queen whom will only be replaced once she is assassinated and if she dies of natural causes then their entire nation enters into a brawl of blood, carnage, treachery and mayhem to decide a victor.... and your people have had the Honor of experience this a few times and have always thought to themselves, "There has to be a better way."

>+Cultural Development: Combat Sports invented: Wrestling, Boxing,
>Combat Sports are sports that pit two combatants against one another in a non-lethal situation for glory, entertainment, and rowdy fun: Wrestling is currently the most popular one as it can be translated over to cross-species matches; it being PARTICULARLY exciting to watch entire teams of Gorgons attempt to wrestle a single Cyclopean Athlete into submission. Boxing however is still respected on a species-specific circus: Gorgons fight gorgons, Cyclopes fight Gorgons- but either way, the two sports have exploded in popularity seemingly over night and all across your great civilization public combat sport matches are taking place in public squares with gambling, drink, in-between entertainment and after parties usually held at Public baths for Athletes and attendants a like to wind down and relax from such exciting events.

If it is a thing then probably one of the few examples of public lynching, I can't imagine any crime being seen as more heinous, since the ONLY way you're going to want to rape somebody given how free with love Cyclops are as a rule, is if you're getting off on the helplessness and victimization you're causing.

Hey guys have we invented printing press or chinese/japanese style wood block printing?

I only ask cause I was developing a new Type Face/letters for Island Cyclopean. based off of carving into wood.

Its Bold and Brash, and suits red. A typeface that'd make Sun God Proud.
>>
>>38545908
Probably. But it's bound to be a lot less common among the cyclops given there very liberal attitudes toward sex and generally peaceful nature.
>>
>>38545971

no, but I think we're advanced enough to try now.
>>
>>38545908

Cyclops aren't violent almost as a rule, I assume that we look like the Trap cyclops OP likes posting for the majority of our life and then only go athletic but kinda feminine muscles or tits after 40 or so.

If rape is a thing, it's the same reason as murder, which means there is something wrong with that person and they are promptly shown that while Cyclops are peaceful, angry ones are no joking matter and why no sane civilization would want to fight them.

>Akalade has Confiscated the Observatory: He is using it as his own personal Study.

It might have seemed predictable or maybe this is catching the Sage council by complete surprise, but Akalade has "confiscated" the Observatory. He did not do this through force or anything like that; he simply isn't answering to the outside world and has been politely turning away any attendance or admission from outsiders. The Observatory is not just some "telescope on a hill"- the observatory operates on the level of a small town and is fed with food and supplies by the neighboring communities on the mountain and within the neighboring province of Mycea's grove.

Akalade has staffed his observatory with many Moon-touched Cyclopes, Two-headed Cyclopes, as well as numerous other perfectly normal Cyclopes whom assist him with his mysteries and obscure work; which he seems to have feverishly begun as soon as his Bell-mana Forge arrived and a copy of the weeping Sages texts.

Akalade has also invested and further made personal upgrades to the Observatory including: A spherical glass-shaped "dome" construction that is called a "green house" that was made using both magic and technical skill to his own specifications and houses an air-tight controlled environment containing numerous plants and fungi. A large, rotating, hanging, public sculpture of sorts..? It is made out of Metal and seems to support many hanging orbs of various size on rings that freely rotate and spin.. some sort of Magical construction? Numerous constructions and renovations have been made within as well, but are not within the public eye to see.

Akalade also seems to be trading and accepting the passage of Changeling Merchants- some of which are all together quite sketchy- as they bring forth and unload carts of mysterious origin and content.

>>38546598
The way I think it works is Cyclops pretty much embody the morality of "Is everyone enjoying themselves? Yes? Is anybody going to be permanently harmed by this? No? Not ruining anybody else's good time right? Good! Have fun."
>>
>>38546598
Fighting is a form of physical motion turned towards a purpose- it doesn't have to be purely to inflict harm. The same force that can break bones can also be used to turn aside blows
>>
>>38546401

At any rate: This is an Event, so if you want to you may interact/commit some Action rolls towards it.

Simply talking to a character does not require a roll, but they'll obviously tell you what they want to tell you, etc..

Akalade probably doesn't have any Malicious intent, but that's no garauntee the little Elf of the moon won't accidentally do something bad.

>Printing Techniques
>Roll 75/100
>Happy roll: 75. +Long time running, +Strong Written Culture.

Bamboo Scrolls and Clay Tablets are the norm in terms of written text and documented written word; the process can be long, but people essentially just write in ink with hand or they inscribe something in soft clay- The irony though is that your people have been inscribing and carving glyphs and messages into metal for hundreds, possibly even a thousand years and no one has made the leap to just dip it in ink and use it to print words.

>+Ink Printing Technique Invented: Metal Print, ink. Metal Print, burn.
>Extremely popular texts are documented and etched in Metal; these metal pages are ingrained and forged with grooves so that they can be filled with ink and then applied to Bamboo Scrolls and Textiles. Variations on these prints can also be made for BURNING text into bamboo scrolls- it's cheaper, but produces a less quality good. These can also be made into TILES or STAMPS that can be used to make customized texts and panels for printing.

>+Dramatic Increase in literacy and information.
>Printing techniques allow things such as farmers almanacs, text books, sheet music, bestiarys and journals to be easily produced en masse. This has lead to MANY more public assemblies, schools, and budding institutions to be better equipped to document and teach more standardized and realiable information as you understand it.

>+Cultural Innovation: Public postings.
>Due to your Cultures societal value on public access and sharing of information; one of the first things someone made once they got a complete collection of printing stamps was a Newspaper. Newspapers started out as a kind of "cult" activity where businesses and cults would produce fliers to send to their customers and members, but the practice has fallen within the hands of the Sage council and they now post on a bi-weekly basis important news and updates at public forums for those who have missed it.

>Investigate and open up towards Akalade's private project.
>Roll 18/20
>Akalade counter roll 4/20
>Cyclopes Win. +Racial bonus

The Cyclopes assisting with Akalade's mission are not exactly.. "discreet"? They trust Akalade and he is of course their friend and they would never betray him and they would never betray their own people, so this creates a complicated personal situation.
Most of the information you pick up is naturally from the Workers and Assistance when they go out of town for a drink or to keep up appearances back at home; keen and enthusiastic on talking great lengths on their important garden work, how much their learning about the heavens and the stars- Akalade is quite keen on mapping and studying them. You find out that large Structure outside is in fact a mechanical -accurate- mobile diagram of your Solar system which mirrors and maps the movements of the celestial bodies.

>The Cosmic Snake and Hydra Mother on the God of Snakes minor arcana card.
>The SUn on the God of Eyes card
>Mycea on the God of Mushrooms card
>Great Progenitor on the God of Reefs Card

That frees up 4 major arcana for the things in >>38547588

Man, I know that the Manticore Gorgons see us as agents of life and growth, a beautiful people to represent the half of the cycle they do not, and the Dinosaurs see us as a beautiful and strong but very peaceful people that should not be trifled with, but I wonder how the "Average" Gorgon over the centuries / millennia has come to see us, back from the first slaves, to the immigrants, to the modern "Average" non-native gorgon thinks of us.

>Akalade's Roll 89/100
>Akalade manages to miraculously save himself.

It all happens rather quickly: A handful of your Craftsmen and Sages just wanted to find out how Akalade had made the glass, but they were to bashful or embarassed to simply ask Akalade how he had done it and none of the Workers themselves understood the exact process. Akalade had held their hand during the construction and took advantage of a complex process of expanding and heating Glass in real time with the use of both magic and technical skill; the end result was a hexagonal styled dome of incredibly durable and resistant glass.

One of your Sages though tries to wiggle off a tile from the green house ceiling.
Akalade however is inside; quietly dusting off his hands on his Apron while waving over to the Sage, "Oh, hello! I've been mean- Wait, what are you do-"

Akalade is cut off.
Both figuratively and literally.

The Sage accidentally contracts the Glass Tile and it falls loose from the ceiling and it falls down; Akalade manages to notice, but unfortunately not in time.
Akalade is cut in half: his upper body does a brief spin before the upper half falls on it's back and his lower half simply slumps over where it stood.
"O-oh no" Is the last thing he says before he immediately succumbs to shock.

You are not the lone witnesses though: Several Changelings had been carting off some gardening supplies and they immediately drop everything to respond. They throw off their robes and reveal their featureless chalk-white bodies and stark black ringed eyes: Their bodies melt and jump forth like water to immediately mold and wrap around Akalade's two halves.

They shape and recombine themselves into the missing halves; Akalade's body slumped over unconscious on his Changeling legs. The Changeling fused to Akalade's lower half shouts, "MEDICINE. NOW. FIX. QUICK. THIS UNCOMFORTABLE."

You have 1 turn to try and Save Akalade before the Changelings are unable to support him and he dies.

I'd imagine Merfolk would be depicted directly on the child, farmer, hunter, and god/constelation cards of the Reefs.

Cyclops obviously for Eyes. Gorgons for Serpents, Mycea and the flora and fauna who live in her Forest for Mushrooms.

If there was a major Mermish figure I could think of, I'd have suggested them for the full list.

Ah well.

>Save Akalade
>Roll 16/20
>Above Average Success.

Everyone single Cyclopes immediately drops whatever is they were doing and a small crowd of them in unison: Scoop of Akalade as gently as possible and proceed to rush her over to Mycea's Grove to directly hand her off to Mycea and what little Mana flow remains in the province.
It is a trip that would normally take a few days, but due to the emergency and expediency of this issue you managed to find Mycea as she's met you in the middle of your Journey and has come out of her way to help.

She had literally jogged over in her Giantess form, "Oh no, oh no, oh god- what have you children done. Oh my goodness, oh this is bad- this is very bad." She stutters a little and gets down onto her knees. "Okay, okay, I can fix this- I can fix this; I'll fuse her back- Him, I'll fuse him back together and we'll give him a nice long Mana dip and he should be fine." Mycea lets out a long sigh, rolls her shoulders, and spreads her palms open. "Okay, Changelings- let him go."

The Changelings quickly wiggle off and mold back into humanoid forms; spitting up blood and being handed blankets while everyone else watches Mycea do her work.
The Two halves immediately start pouring their "contents", but Mycea is quick to work her magic: living, bending, vegetation and fungal growth sprout and germinate from her hands to act as bonding, stitching, and slowly pulling the two halves of Akalade together. Sealing wounds, rejoining organs, closing up the cuts and creating a near perfect fusion of the two pieces.
"Alrighty- That was super important; wouldn't want the two halves growing into two Akalades, would you?" She gives a Nervous laugh before wiping off her brow.

"Okay, bath time."

Mycea holding now carefully holding Akalade in one hand; grows and draws a fungal handled knife from her open palm which she uses to cut open her palm and pour down bleeding, glowing, fresh, brightly luminescent mana from the open wound and down onto Akalade's unconscious little body.

She's careful to cup her hand so that the Mana actively pools and Akalade is immersed within it; His body convulsing, veins and muscle visibly flexing through the skin as he wriths and squirms in discomfort and pain. Mycea coo's and shooshes, "No, no, no, Come on little Akalade- you need to let it in there." The Mana bubbles up and the wound starts to fizz and steam from it cleaning itself and reverting back to the "default" Akalade's dna had prescribed.

A Few Weeks of intense bed-side care Akalade finally wakes up in his Bed within his Observatory surrounded by very Guilty looking Cyclopes and a small Mycea shoot. Everyone feels super awkward and responsible, but in reality Akalade is mostly just groggy and his intestines are finally working properly so he has wicked terrible gas and really just wants everyone to leave so he can stop embarrassing himself.

He's fed some decent food and allowed to go to the bathroom by himself. All he really asks is when he can get back to his work.

No.
If Akalade had just been dunked into a Mana bath without sowing or fusing his two halves together he would have regenerate into two seperate twins/clones of himself because Mana doesn't discriminate and the pieces were large and whole enough to do so.

His recovery also would have been much longer as producing two seperate bodies from one -even with mana- would put an enormous amount of physical stress on his body and leave both his "twins" in an atrophied state for months 'till he was re-nourished.

Anyway, back to business: >>38548853

"We've sent Elves down here before in the past, but it's always been a little too dangerous and expensive. I can't say for certain anything about the Elves you're referring to, but we did lose contact with a particularly LARGE group a few thousand years back. It's what motivated more modern and single-man missions like my own." He just sort of shrugs. "I wasn't lying when I said I was from the moon."

>ask him what he's doing with that observatory
"I thought you wanted me to be in charge of the observatory? Was that not the intention? I suppose I got a "little" carried away, but I was eventually going to show you the accumulation of my work." Akalade wiggles his arms out of his blankets and points over to his window to the Green house. "I had been cultivating an assortment of sophisticated equipment to further my work beyond the limitations of currently available technology."

>ask him about moon stones and why it turns us blue
"I'm not completely sure to be honest, you said this was a byproduct of direct exposure to Moon rock? I highly doubt that: Moon Rock is just rock; there's nothing special about it." Akalade slowly starts piecing things together, "Though- I suppose if a large number of Elves did land here in ancient times they most likely caused some manner of magical pollution through irresponsible practices.. I could see the 'moon-touched' effect being a product or response to direct exposure from worldly arcane radiation.. Their DNA probably changed in real time as a defense mechanism since Magic has a tendancy to accentuate growth and development; making it genetic, ecetera.... Fungi are quite responsive to "foreign" magics as well since they seek to distribute and alleviate pollutants and radiation." Akalade rambles on a bit more before taking a nap.

What is interesting is that Akalade has genuinely been writing most of his Schematics, plans, and documents in Cyclopean- even though it is not his native tongue, he finds the language's unique structure and written aspects to be very intuitive when documenting and easily recording information- more so than his own.

His logs introduce the concept of the Scientific method and empirical evidence which is a method that seeks to separate magical forces from 'reality' in order to establish a genuine and unaltered medium of existence that can be accurately measured, documented, and experimented upon.

Akalade's conceptions of Science vs Magic still run counter to your own people's views that Magic and everything else are interlayed within everything, but the concept and practice itself DOES translate well enough over to merit some changes in the way chemistry, medicine, and other such more formal studies are practiced.

>Research and Develop Metal Armor
>Roll 18/100
>Failure, -Racial penalty +Changeling Influence

Armor isn't something your people really make much of- Armor beyond simply leather gloves, padded clothing, boots, or other such garments that are mostly used for work safety.. Primitive Helmets made out of iron and lined with silk or cloth are also available, but true Armor built for WAR is beyond you; if only for cultural reasons.

It's Ironic though since most other races around you have been in much a similar boat: Merpeople can't wear metal armor as it obviously impedes their movement within water, Gorgons "do" have armor, but it usually takes the form of visors, blinds, and headdresses that seek to protect their eyes from the gaze of other gorgons or to accentuate their own vision to improve gaze attacks.

Changelings though, Changelings do actually have Armor, It's just "weird".
Changelings can shuffle, contort, and move their form around with a fluidity that matches yogurt at times; this has lead to the development of Truly unique "pot-like" armor that they can shuffle their organs and bones into while they wiggle tendrils and arms out- wielding curved blades and flails while seeing through a small slit.

It sounds silly on paper, but it does look quite terrifying- especially when they move around.
You've no way of translating it over, but it certainly gives you some ideas.

You know, I've been wondering for a while now what exactly things like 'racial penalty' and 'X influence' really means. Does this mean we're more dependent on the Changelings for designing armor, or that they've increased their own hold of our civilization?

>Improve our glassware and alchemy, maybe ask Akalade some questions on it.
>Roll 17/20
>High End Success.

Akalade has managed to access and compile a breadth of knowledge in the short amount of time he's been given access to so many resources without supervision or question. One such achievement is the compiling and documenting of numerous Gorgon Alchemical secrets as well as a brief introduction into Changeling Alchemy that has only been recently brought over through a very expensive acquisition from a particularly well read, rich, and philanthropic Changeling who had traveled a great distance from the north west to visit an "outsider" in person.

These compiled secrets and documents reveal a wealth of outsider knowledge into foreign and unique Alchemical secrets that have been translated over from at least a dozen other cultures and at least 3 species.

>+Dramatically Increased Medical Alchemy
>Western Changeling Alchemy is one that focuses on biochemistry and advances forms of healing and medication. Changelings are very resistant against physical damage, but very susceptible to disease, infection, and sickness- so there's is a culture that has demanded the utmost interest in medicinal properties and the finest cures.

>+Dramatically increased Industry Alchemy
>Empirical Gorgon Alchemy is a close guarded secret as it's main aim is the synthesis and creation of numerous interesting chemical compounds: glues/bonding agents, polishes, oils, lubricants, poisons, fertilizers, as well as a mysterious black or red powder that seems to fizzle and burn with coloured smoke that no one has found any particular use for as of yet.

>Success.

You send out a sizable party lead and staffed by a number of successful and renowned heroes: supplies are invested, Triceratops are packed with goods, weapons, tools and maps, and your party is quickly joined by a band of Changeling guides- riding on Quaggas and armed with Bows and Swords; before the two groups join with one another and ride off into quite the fantastical and well-tredded journey.

The Party returns a Five years later: their packs and animals weighed down with trophies and various treasures and the Heroes themselves heavy with numerous stories one after another:

>"The plains have bloomed into nothing like we've ever seen before: a sea of rolling hills and grass with countless and endless herds of animals roaming them. We ate like kings on hunted meats, the foraged fat of the lands, and never once saw any end to the endless bounty provided by the untouched lands."

>"We experienced numerous archaeic and ancient ruins; some of them simply over grown and abandoned kingdoms once owned by the Changelings who would go to great lengths to re-gale us of Ancient and lengthy historical significance. There were other ruins though; hollowed out ones, built upon and around the rested skeletons of Giants and olderly than all recollection- seemingly clutching half buried and rusted away fragments of metal. We did not linger long in those."

>"We also experienced the many and varied townships, cities, and remaining kingdoms of the Changelings: Obscure and unusual constructions, their architecture is confusing, disgusting, uncomfortable, and unmanageable- we often had to sit and camp outside their communities, but we still received the breadth of their hospitality and services. There was very little we could purchase with even the most seemingly mundane of scavenge items and they had a great and inspired interest in our physical appearance and form... I would be lying if we did not take in all of the pleasures and venues their cities provided.

>"There was also talk of others, and we learned much of the other peoples and species of this world: The Ant people, whom we've come to sympathize with more, if only because they reside in such an awkward position within life. Squat, sturdy, honest, and colony-minded individuals. All but their queen is capable of reproduction and her subjects are numerous and endless infertile women that toil under her.. We could not tell if they were happy or not and the Changelings discouraged our interaction, but we believe they are capable of being reasoned with."

>"We also met; seemingly by chance, a squat and bird-like, black feathered humanoid with a long beak that couldn't have been taller than the knee of a Cyclopes. The Changelings called them "Kenku"; they spoke mixed opinions of them, but said they were an agreeable and intelligent species. As for what its depicting, its sort of meant to be "Double Sided" Facing up its meant to be the bolt in its rightful place, creating a pool of mana. Upside-Down, its meant to be stuck in the side of the progenitor signifying "Poking the Bear".

Gorgons are doing pretty alright: A number of them have been expanding into the plains and the northern jungles ever since the Zizz's spring came about making the environment a lot more "hospitable" towards their kind.
The Gorgons can be quite difficult to keep track of at times.

>How'd the snow cyclopes react to that whole "great progentior" thing appearingin the ocean?

The Snow Cyclopes have honestly been extremely fucking busy/disracted. They've got the entire south pole to themselves and it's a veritable world of wonders, monsters, ice, snow, and frozen mysteries.

And NOW they have to worry about Dragons.
Snowclops have their work cut out for themselves.

>>38552306
>What are the differences between the two Manticore tribes? (One was traditional and the other was a Fungal tribe if I remember correctly)
Not enough at the moment to cause them to split from one another: Fungal Gorgons are simply more inclined to take up a second life as farmer's wives, etc.. They usually do this when they've either become too maimed to fight or tired from age and want to spend their days in the arms of Cyclopes.

>>38552415
No, Native born Gorgons usually don't take names.
Gorgon immigrants usually abandone their old names, but this has waned in popularity in recent times. In the past it was something of a badge of honor or relief to abandon your name.

>>38552588
>Is it even possible?

Theoretically yes, but the Gods -as we've mentioned before- are against it since it's basically making Chimeras and they have a huge respect for the natural order of things.

Like, Gorgons are more closely related to Dinosaurs and Birds than they are to Cyclopes.
Cyclopes are more closely related to Merpeople and in their own weird way Whales/Marine Mammals.

That was the Cosmic snake being reincarnated.

She's a giant Barbarian amazonian gorgon who's got a TWO racks- nyuk, nyuk, nyuk, no, but seriously: She has horns because she's a demigod. Demigods exhibit physical traits and qualities that encapsulate the beings they truly are.

It'll make sense within time, don't worry about it.
>>
>>38552969
That might be the implication. To be fair there is a lot about the world we don't get. There seems to be a somatic component to the creation of monsters, life forms can spontaneously exist thanks to mana and the presence of dead gods.
>>

Native born Gorgons share our culture than one of the tribes or the empire right?
>>
What's the day-to-day like for Mycea? How does she usually spend her time? What roles does she take on in her city?

I wonder what other awesome parrallels there are? Can Parrats work as the fool? Is the Changeling a decent "justice" or "Hanged" man. I forget which would be the better fit.

Would Hydra Mother be the Lovers (both of them?) Or the Devil?

I bet she has hobbies. Maybe she is a Philatelist and collects butterflies. Or she has lovely little Motivational Beetle posters. Maybe she likes to drink tea and have little teaparties with the little gods.

>Would Hydra Mother be the Lovers (both of them?)

My vote goes towards that.
I don't know anything about Tarot cards, but if you're looking for a Tarot card design: The Hydra Mother's maidens- trying to embrace one another, but their large breasts keep them spread apart from one another.
>>
>>38553198
>>38553287

Eh remember Lovers stands for choices and the original card had a man staring at two different women standing of to either side, he was choosing between his lovers, The Hyrda mother would just not bother picking and fuck everyone

Maybe if it was about trying to pick one of the madiens....
>>
>>38553198
I think the progenitor would be more fitting as the devil. One who embodies destruction, and evil but not necessarily so by his own design.
>>
>>38553198
Well look up the interpretations then assign them based on what we have now.

Rather than trying to match them exactly, come up with personal symbology based on our experiences with those depicted so far.
>>
>>38553384
Hrmm this could be fun, could tarot anon give a more confirmed list, I'd make the story of a cyclops's life based on cards right now
>>
>>38553287
What does the average family look like in are Civ.?
>>
>>38553404
>>38547540
This is as confirmed a list as possible. Make a Google doc and link it before we sage and I'll be on it later tonight.

Well, polyamorous relationships are the standard and homosexuality is common and casual, so Imagine it's like a cross between a Tree and Kudzu.
>>
>>38553322
Really? I always thought it was adam and eve depicted on the Lovers. Again I'm familiar with Tarot "imagry" rather than actual symbology, but that said i have seen the "Choice Between Two Lovers" you've mentioned earlier.

>>38553342
Yeah that could fit.

>>38553384
Pretty much this. I'd rather make up "symbols" and meanings based on the characters in our civ, rather than match them to existing symbols. Zizz was a Lucky coincidence to match the Tower. Changelings were based off my vague recollections of the appearances of the "Heirophant" and/or "Justice" (which I think was scales).

Maybe to carry the "Lover's Choice" theme maybe the theme of a Hydra Mother card is either "Mercy" or "Deals". She likes showing us mercy, but also giving us some sketchy deals and bargains every once in a while. She is a goddess of Fertility and Mischief after all.

It's also why incest, while it happens and sometimes multi-generationally, isn't really a problem.

The adam and eve thing came in some of the later sets

the imagery changes around the cultures so once Christianity became big it became adam and eve

Obviously the sea will be the bigging of a cyclopes journey

Only problem I have with it is that each race barring the neroli is represented in the major arcana, maybe put them as part of the great progenitor'so card?

Representing being devoted to a cause without truly understanding it.

Other side is being devoted to a cause no longer relevant.
>>
>>38553487
We still haven't developed the windmill or the waterwheel correct?
>>
It may be hard, but always remember the advice of "Motivation Beetle"
>>
So is this kind of flavor sound good for tarot cards?

The journey of a cyclops' life as told by history

1st The Sea:
As with all life, the Cyclops begins from the Sea. From the grand depths to the shining surface to begin his life.

Represents: Beginnings, Life, Adventure, Possibility
Reversed: Hardship, new struggles, Great danger(Progenitor)

2nd: The Sun
The great father that allows life to survive beyond the depths, a stern figure and harsh figure, but still caring. His words are rules and not to be trifled with.

Represnts: Order, Laws and fatherhood. A symbol of guidance and of authority
Reversed: Anger, lawlessness, harsh realities(The sun will not always be kind, if always looking for our interests)
>>
>>38553624
Merfolk, not neroli
>>
>>38553661
Yessssss
>>
So guys, next thread we should get to work on Diplomancing / Integrating the FUCK out of the Merpeople, maybe have salt-lakes with sea life cyclopian-built lakes and water ways scattered on the mainland? Encouraged reef growth?

Wouldn't want them to be closer to our southern cousins than they are to us.
>>
>>38553661
Gah there was more to the sun then that
The great father that allows life to survive beyond the depths, a stern figure and harsh figure, but still caring. His words are rules and not to be trifled with. He was the first to take the cyclops beneath him and lead them through their new world.
>>
>>38553683
I say we focus on industrial expansion, trade networks, applying these techs we've built up on a large scale. Then with our economy boosted, we build a UN to unite the races in cammraderie!
>>
>>38553661
Love this historical Approach. could be a good way to categorize things. Wouldn't Sea be 0 though? like the Fool? or is the Fool the Parrat's lot?

Otherwise 1-4 would be Sea, Sun, Stars, Moon.
After that we soon met the gorgons? so perhaps First Gorgon? Then Cosmic Snake (with oblique refrences to elves since cosmic snake was all about warning us about them at the time) ? then crisis with Zizz.
>>
>>38553691
He's also a warrior and protector. He's basically brolair grown up and matured.
>>
Isn't anyone worried at the fact that both the Merfolk's God-child and OUR God-child is being raised by such an...well, I would call her unpredictable, but she kinda is, person that is the Hydra Mother, the chick that puts Gorgons before everyone us?
>>
>>38553731
This makes sense.

Again, we need a Google doc since we're about to be archived.
>>
>>38553731
Ah right it should be zero correcting now, And since it is history the moon will not come untill later, we started moon worship after the elves I believe we where sun and stars first

>>38553736
I'll work this in as well. Is tarot anon still here? I wanted his opinion too
>>
>>38553765
Is tarot anon the guy who made the list or draw fag? I'm confused because I'm the guy who made the list, but I really hope he is around and will make a Google doc... I'm two hours from being able to make one :(
>>
>>38553765
Moon worship sort of happened once we got the Blind Sages and their blind scrolls (which inspired weeping sage). Maybe Blind sages can be incorporated into the Moon Tarot then? And weeping sage incorporated into the Zizz card?
>>
>>38553796
If you are referring to list making anon (me) then yeah, this is more than sound.
>>
>>38553796
Drawfag, he's drawing them afterall I want to hear what he says

>>38553812
I believe I'm gonna write up elves as changes, and weeping sage as sacrifice, but I'll need teh Zizz for mistakes or arrogance.
>>
>>38553838
That's what I thought. Couldn't conceive why you'd ask me but it was confusing... Anyway yeah... This is sounding great so far.
>>
>>38553865
Also thought you might be tarot-artist anon making the meanings.
>>
2nd The Stars:
The Ancestors that have come before, staying amongest the heavenly bodies with their father to watch over their kin and children. No one should ever feel alone so long as their family is watching. A cyclops will always be more them himself, he is his community and they are him, they will travel the world together and shape each other.

Represents: Community, Family, Wisdom, guidance (Softer then the sun) This is the symbol of the cyclops
Reversed: Solitude, loss, betrayals

Drawfag here. a google doc would be much appreciated, plus it be a nice way to discuss the Civ outside the thread. >>38553941 Thanks listmaker.

As for the meanings I've mostly been coming up with meanings as a "fun" aside on my own time.

Here's a version of the sea so far. might try fixing it up a bit more, incorperate more white (like with the crests and seafoam of waves) and dark black. Does it feel too blank? Should I try something else?
>>
>>38553972
Please feel free to upload the images to the doc. I'll format shit later tonight.
>>
>>38553972
Remember when you reach minor arcana that the symbols either need to remain identical through out all the minor cards, no matter how out of place they are, or the need to change to suit the specific meaning (7 of swords is related to precision as I recall, so sometimes it has rapiers on it)
