Continuing from where we left off, our hero was attempting to escape Paris with the one technique no one expected... By asking.

The truck that recently rolled up is rickety and old. Beaten up it may be though, it still drives from sun up to sunset making its deliveries. Several young men begin to unload the back of it as an older gentleman talks with a store owner holding a clipboard. You roll up and respectably wait for them to finish their transaction.

"Bonjour." The old man turns to you and greets you back in French.

"Ah, what might a young man such as yourself be doing here?" You clear your throat, "You see, Monsieur, I've gotten into a spot of bad luck and was hoping to inquire about hitching a ride."

He looks you over a moment, holding his chin. "And what sort of bad luck is that?"

You stop yourself, choosing your words carefully, lying doesn't come to you naturally, but partial truth isn't a lie. Isn't it? "My family has run into a spot of trouble. I need a ride to... To get to a place where my Grandfather can help me."

The old man watches you, there's a glimmer in your eye you don't recognize. "Your family is in trouble, eh? Why not go to the authorities?"

"Well sir-"

He cut you off, "Would that be due to the fire that happened earlier today?"

Your eyebrow arches. "How did you-"

"Your mother is a public figure, so why wouldn't you be? There's a police report out for you, you know. It says you were missing and might be delirious. Needing to be taken in for medical care and the like."

You search for an explanation. He chuckles, "I'd say you look oddly calm and straightforward given that. Still, you weren't careful enough."

You pause, "What do you mean? Who are you, sir?"

"Me? I'm just an old man who goes by the name Jiminy. And I'm someone who has lived long enough to realize not to pay attention to everything you hear." He gives a hearty laugh. "So, I suppose you'd like a ride, eh?"

"Why would you-" You shake your head. "Forgive me, where are my manners. Thank you for your kindness, Mr. Jiminy."

He laughs. "Just Jiminy will do, my boy."

"Very well Mr Jiminy." You stop for a moment, realizing what you said.

"Ah, well my boy, you have an almost mechanical nature about your manners, good though they may be. Lighten up an' live a little!"

You remain silent.

"Now then, we're nearly done, I don't have much room in my cab I'm afraid but I can sit you in the back. Good thing you brought your own chair!"
--
A few minutes later, you roll up into the back of the truck and nestle yourself among the boxes. It look like at some point the truck was modified from a trailer to the box it is now. The old window in the back of the cab is still there and Jiminy has it open making it easy to converse.

"You're quite lucky about needing to get to the docks. It's several hours away but I needed to go for a pickup." You shiver in the back, and a towel gets tossed your way. "...Thank you si-"

You hear a sigh from the cab. "Don't finish that."

"..."

Still tense, you begin to drift off again. Even with the bumping road and rattling truck. That's when you see the bright lights flash into your car.

"Steel yourself, child."

"Hm?"

You hear the scuffling of boots. Seeing police lights beyond the spotlight you see people move about. The thing that catches your eye? Suits of an unmistakable kind- REVOCS. You hear arguing and the back door of the truck flies up. This was a checkpoint.

You are currently behind some boxes out of sight.

You roll back behind the boxes more as you see the gelled hair of a REVOCs suited man, his sungless covered eyes gazing about. You couldn't see why he was wearing those at this time of night but... No matter.

As of yet he doesn't see you, but soon will. You see something already, however, a fair sized spider crawling up the crates. It must have been living in one of the boxes and seemed to be quite good at what it did. Its prosperity is apparent from the size of it alone.

You reach out and the REVOCs comes closer. You put your index finger behind your thumb and the guard is nearly there.

-BOING-

You flick sending the spider right at his face just before he rounded the corner. While he can't see you cloaked in shadow, you get the immense joy of seeing the surprise on his face turn to horror.

"SPIDER! FUCKING SPIDER!" He bolts away, flailing his limbs- a grown man running in terror.

You hear more voices outside "Whoa, get back in there and look!"

"Fuck you! There could be more in there!" He points in the truck, ironically right at you as you glower from the unseen darkness within.

"I already saw boxes in there. It's nothing, just like the 40 other vehicles we've already checked! If you're so concerned YOU do it!"

Sweat beads on his compatriots face. "-Hey man, it's cool, let's uh... Let's just move on."

He waves and the blockade opens for the truck. It takes a moment for Jiminy to calm down enough and once he's no longer cupping his mouth from laughter you drive forward.

Not much farther and you're finally there. Sea air wafts in even before the doors open. It's been a long time since you've smelled that- It was one of the many trips you had taken with your mother when she was abroad for business or one of her aid campaigns. That was a long time ago, you'd been living in the family mansion for most of your life.

You say your goodbyes to Jiminy- and once again make the mistake of referring to him as 'sir' but the anger abides quickly. In fact, you turn around for a moment after leaving and see he's already talking with his customer like they are old friends.

You face the sea and the lapping waves.

You dart your way across the docks and wharfs sticking to the shadows as much as possible. A cripple in a wheel chair stands out a lot in most places- Especially when wanted.

Jiminy had a good point, around here most people will recognize you, especially since that TV broadcast. A bigger ship makes it easier to hide and if you remain unseen it will be easy to cover your tracks.

Eaves dropping and listening it doesn't take you long to find a ship headed close to where you were going in South America. Almost too easy to be honest. And boy, it certainly is a huge ship, a full sized cargo ship probably headed for factories or farms.

And in a few moments your roll right up and into a large pallet and hide up in the boxes. It's not too much longer and you're being loaded into the hold.

You sigh with relief, that's one step down. You glance around the massive hold as the lights come on. It's truly a massive ship.

And then you see it. Rows upon rows of boxes. All bearing-

The Logo of REVOCS.

My apologies for the slow

Your mind wanders through your life so far. You've lived mostly within your family estate, your education was done in home, and your many medical visits were conducted by private doctors. Your family, your friends, and your life, were your Servants and staff when your mother wasn't home. You know you have a father, doesn't everyone? Though, your memories of him are dim, and you remember him only really being around when you were a child. You also remember how much your Grandfather seems to detested him before he passed.

Many different scenes play out in your memories.
