>But let's get relatively serious.
>You're headed to the Hierarchical City of Iwatsu, a city in America where Hazama's office is, as well as where you will be getting your next orders.
>You've recently developed a minor affinity towards sonic energy- manipulating and amplifying it to a certain degree. Nothing major yet.
>Ragna the Bloodedge, mass murderer and wanted criminal, is apparently alive, though Hazama is a lying bastard so you're not sure how far you can trust him.
>If he is alive, you can be sure he'll be after your guts.
>Jin is apparently taking a different airship to Iwatsu. Let's hope he doesn't blow it up in the meantime.
You have just finished packaging what's leftover of the rice.
The dishes are cleaned and Tsubaki is studying in the... study. Noel is probably in her room.
You're not sure you want to know where Hazama is.
The TV is on in the den for some reason.
Closing the refrigerator, you decide what to do.

As you walk towards the residence hall, you apporach Noel's door.
You can hear her speaking to...
Nobody.
There's no sign of another person.
The noise is indistinguishable, but it seems to have a pattern.
Her door is closed and presumably locked.
After some scratching on paper, she continues speaking.

"Hey, Noel. I wanted to talk to you about training. Is this a good time?"
>And a few other things.
"Huh?" There's a frantic shuffling inside. "J-just a moment!"
A few miscellaneous sounds of containers being opened and closed occur before the door clicks and Noel hesitantly says, "C-come in!"
As you enter, Noel's face flares up in embarrassment as she hurriedly shoves the last of something into the desk she's sitting at.
You scratch your neck in boredom. "By the way, I heard something. Were you talking to someone?"
After a small fit of shaking like a cornered rabbit, she blinks for a few seconds and asks, "No... Nobody... Um... What did you want to talk about?"
She seems about ready to cry for some reason.

"No! I'm fine. Calm. Perfectly calm!"
>She is not perfectly calm. She's sweating bullets and turning pink.
"Okay... About training..."
"Yeah... um... When did you want to start?" She seems happy to change subjects, and shifts herself in front of the desk to block the cabinet.
"I was thinking you could watch and help me cook breakfast tomorrow. Maybe you could teach me some Ars Magus once we land?"
"Y-yeah."
"About our date..."
"What about it?"
"You think we could have another one sometime?"
She looks happy to hear that suggestion. "Maybe we can cook something together! Wouldn't that be nice?"
Ben stares through Noel to the desk. "Yeah, it would. But..."
"...But what?" Noel frowns again.
"What was that you just put away?"
She turns a screaming crimson at the question.
"N-nothing! Now... I think... um... uh... I'm gonna watch some TV!"
She bolts past you and out of the room, clearly embarrassed.

You were considering talking to Tsubaki, but your curiosity overwhelms you, and you tentatively open the cabinet.
There are several crumpled pieces of paper shoved in the cabinet.
Underneath some torn half-poems and scribbles and doodles lies a single whole page.
As you read it, it is revealed to be a poem.
Her poem reads:
>Today I met a blue knight.
>He's not cold like the white knight, or mean like the black Knight.
>Could this truly be it?
>Could I be a Blue Princess?
>Or do princesses look better in pink?
>I prefer a Blue Knight either way.
Her feelings seem pretty clear. Now, how do YOU feel about what she wrote?
>Worried. Does she do this with every guy she meets?

You're filled with feelings of happiness to hear such words of praise, and a bit excited, too. She really does seem to have taken a liking to you.
Albeit it could have been written better, but it's still something.
Then a worrying thought strikes you.
Is this part of her self-esteem issues? Does she feel like she's helpless and needs someone to 'rescue' her?
You start to put everything back, when suddenly a
"Ahem."
FUCK. It's Tsubaki.
Once again, you seem to have gotten on her bad side.
As you close the cabinet and face her, she gives you an inquisitor-level glare.
"So, I heard Noel run off. Mind explaining why you're snooping in her room?"
>I think this might explain what happened (Show her the poem).

You sigh. "I was asking Noel about training and she bolted. Turns out she was hiding something from me."
"That's not surprising, considering you shouldn't be in here." Tsubaki crosses her arms.
You shake your head. "Not what I meant. It should explain what happened."
I'd love to hear how."
You pull out the paper and hand it to her. "She's a good soldier and I assume friend, but... She really needs to work on her confidence issues. This seems to be what she was hiding."
She swiftly takes it from you and begins reading. "I mean, come on. She went up against Ragna the Bloodedge, for crying out loud!"
Tsubaki ignores you. Her eyes widen in alarm as she reads.
You shift in discomfort.
"Does Noel write poetry often?"
A pained concern rushes over her face.
"I take it you're Blue Knight?" she asks.
"I would assume so."
Her brow furrows. "So who are Black and White?"

"What? But that doesn't describe Jin at all! He's been so nice to all of us as long as I can remember."
Ben shakes his head. "Hate to be the one to break it to you, but he called the two of us 'Trash' when we met up with him."
Tsubaki begins to ponder this.
"What could have caused him to change so drastically? The Jin I know is kind and caring."

You regain your concentration. The sudden change seems to have put Tsubaki on edge, but she relaxes.
You put a smile back on. "Besides, Ragna makes him go nuts, right? I don't know why, but there's something we're missing here. Maybe the way Hazama was acting means he had something to do with it?"
Tsubaki nods. "Understood. I'll see if I can keep Jin away from Ragna and talk to Hazama. If it needs to happen, I trust Noel with you."
She looks at you with a piercing stare.

"Shut up. I'm done talking to you." Tsubaki is trying not to pout.
"For what it's worth, good luck with Jin."
She stops and looks like she's about to yell before continuing walking to her own room and slamming the door.
"Dammit. Ow." You rub feeling back into your ear before walking to the room with the TV.
On the end-table, there's some popcorn. Hazama is eating it with a shit-eating grin on his face as he watches people hurt themselves on a Jackass-like show.
As Noel looks up to see you, you see she's sitting on the far end from Hazama.
She looks up and immediately looks away. She looks more hurt than anything else.
Hazama looks back and forth between you two and then settles on you.
"Is there something I should know?" He mumbles before shoving more popcorn in.

It turns out she's Swiss, or at least, she was raised in Switzerland.
there was actually something else important to note about her- the NOL founde her in Ibukido, meaning she was probably born there. The same place that was leveled by a tactical satellite blast, Nox Nytores: Gigant, Take-Mikazuchi. She was found and adopted. Her PTSD from seeing her home destroyed wiped her memories and she was re-raised by Edgar and Claire Vermillion.
Bolverk appeared when she was attacked by a wild beast, and has been with her ever since.
>>
>>38365558
As stated before, she joined Military Academy, receiving mediocre marks in everything but Ars Magus, which she excelled at.
At the request of Hazama, she was put under Major Kisaragi as his secretary.
>>

But we're not done yet.
There's still Hazama and Ragna to deal with.
>>

Yeah ask her to give us a breakdown of who's who in the NOL and nobility. We'll be dealing with them soon for good or ill.
>>
I'll move on if there's nothing else you guys want to do.
The next morning, you break virtually every egg in the kitchen in order to make the breakfast omelet. After five attempts, two are edible.
You settle for cereal while Tsubaki and Noel have the omelets.
Hazama is not happy to find the eggs gone, but if he had any malice behind his frown, he doesn't show it.
You get off in Iwatsu.
There are people everywhere, the news is still buzzing about Ragna's apparent death, and the crowds move quickly. It's a general American city, with slightly less skyscrapers and more Gothic architecture for the library.
>>

"Do you have any idea who you're talking to?" Ben grabs this random man by the shoulder. "That's the head of the Intelligence Department, Captain Hazama."
His anger is palpable.
You turn to Tsubaki, who has her blade drawn. "He doesn't mean it, he's just angry."
You turn to him once again. "Calm down, dude."
"I... I don't want to be calm anymore. I'm not just angry. I mean it... And if that's the head of the Intelligence Department, I can go out doing what's right."
Suddenly, the guy next to him punches him.
"Are you gonna throw your life away, dude? I didn't go through boot camp with you just to see you go out in a blaze! We're soldiers, dammit! Act like one!"
The guy you're talking to sheds tear and stands. "Yeah, I am. Say bye to T-M to me."
He pulls out a pistol.
Hazama frowns.
"I don't like to fight. In fact... Ben?" He turns to you.
"You do know what the penalty for insubordination is, correct?"
"Captain Hazama, I-" Tsubaki stands up.
"Oh, I know that you're perfect for the job, but... I want to see how Major Ben Herald deals with those under his authority."
The random soldier turns to you.
"Are we going to do this?"
>No. Stand down.
>Only if you force it.
>No. I refuse to fight him, Hazama.

"Don't force this, man. We can still talk this out."
"Oh, I'll talk, all right! Talk about how that slick fuck is gonna die!" He aims, but you slap his hand with a sonic wave and his whole hand clenches in pain.
He howls in anger, and you're able to take the weapon from his grip before dropping him with a heavy strike to the forehead.
Hazama claps at how you were able to disarm the foe without killing him. "Well done. Now finish the job."
"Wait, what?" Noel squeaks. Tsubaki looks away in shame.
"He's violent and insubordinate. There is only one punishment for such behaviour. I'm sure you know what it is."
The rest of the soldiers step away except the man who punched his friend earlier. "You'll have to take all of us."
"That's not what your friends are saying." He points at the other soldiers who have moved back.

Pretty sure trials are still thing Captain Hazama. Besides a man being insubordinate to you is probably not fit for duty. Mental instability and all. Let the docs take a look at him.

Sadly, due to your prior experience, he could probably kill everyone here with little effort and be basically unaffected by gunfire.
>Handcuff the insubordinate
Grudgingly, you bind the man on the ground.
"Um, what are you doing? I'm pretty sure I made my order clear." Hazama looks at you in artificial confusion.
"There's no seal of the Imperator commanding his death, so I'm pretty sure this guy gets at least a hanging trial."
"Well, I'm afraid that as the Head of the Intelligence Department, my orders over-ride..."
There's a thundering crash on the car as SOMETHING lands on top of it.
"Oh, what NOW?"
A hole is blasted into the ceiling, and someone falls down.
Suddenly, someone you dread appears, but this time as a boon.
"Did somebody order a rebel?" Ragna the Bloodedge brandishes his blade Bloodscythe to the amazement of all involved.

>Find a way to stop the train
>Try to get everyone not Hazama or Ragna off
"Everyone OFF!" you yell. You grab a protesting Noel and look for an exit as Ragna charges Hazama.
The collision shakes the entire car, throwing soldiers about.
There are emergency doors between cars, and one of the soldiers is at work breaking them open. After a few ramming strikes, the door yields enough to lend passage.
You grab Noel and move towards the exit, funnelling her and Tsubaki out behind the other soldiers.
But there's still one left.
The man you handcuffed crawls to his feet before another strike knocks him down. Hazama sees him and uses that snake-weapon he has to drag the nearly-helpless man towards him.
Shit. He's gonna die if you don't help him. But this train might get derailed if you don't break off the car you're on, killing everyone on the line.
>Break off the car and go with Noel

Some inner conflict resolves as attempting to at least try and save him.
"Noel, Tsubaki, I'm going to save him. If I fail, break off the car."
"What?" Tsubaki asks.
"He's technically our superior, Tsubaki. Just listen!"
"Not alone you're not."
Average soldier #2 shoots past Ragna into Hazama. It's a slight window that forces Hazamaa to devote more attention to Ragna.
The snake-chain still keeps dragging the man, however.
Once again, the car shakes. you can hear steel warping.
If only there weren't so much noise and shaking. You might be able to concentrate.

>Banshee's Wail
Drawing on every ounce of power you can manage, you create a wave of high-pitched sound to ride over the back-half of the car.
Everything begins to reverberate and shake.
Ragna and Hazama both freeze in their tracks, and it's all you can do to stay conscious. The handcuffed man is released. The car itself gives off one final scream.
It's all or nothing. Much more force will cause the car to break off. Everyone knows it.

"Alright, then, let's move! Everyone further up!"
It takes you a few empty cars before you get to the true passenger seating. A resident medic bandages bumps and bruises before looking into the inevitable minor concussions for everyone.
Noel comes to see you after you're checked.
"So he really was evil..." She turns to Tsubaki.
"Now what?"
Tsubaki sighs.
"Now we go over Hazama's head. We need to relay this to someone we can trust. I have one of the major houses to speak to, and I can get Jin to... Oh, no, Jin! He was with Hazama!"

"Jin's too tough to die like that. Don't you believe in him, Tsubaki?"
She blinks in response to that. "I suppose you're right. But that means we need to get to Ibukido. That's where his base is, as I remember. I'll have to check, though."
"Stay for the night at least. You guys saved our lives, or at least he did." Random Soldier #2 says. There's murmuring and iscussion, but the soldiers generally seem to agree on that.

"I think we should stay, at least for one night's rest. It seems like every day starts spiralling more and more out of control." Noel mutters.
"I can agree with that," Ben says. "We might be able to contact Jin from there, too."
"Wait... I was thinking of the Sixth City, Yabiko." Tsubaki wobbles a bit.
"Hey, medic. Did you give this one the check?" The second soldier asked.
"My name is Tsubaki Yayoi. What's your name?" Tsubaki holds out her hand.
The group of soldiers goes silent.
"Well, it's a good thing she got off the car when she did. We'd all be fucked if she didn't."
"My life is only as valuable as the next one."
"That's not what the feds think. If you dropped dead on our watch, we'd all get breakback labor until the day we died."
"That's a bit of an exaggeration, but it's not too far off." The second soldier held out his hand to meet Tsubaki's. "I'm Newton Constance, Warrant Officer."
"Funny. That was my rank two days ago." Ben laughs.
"Sheesh, man, what did you do?"
"Killed Ragna the Bloodedge. This makes twice."

The train rumbles toward the city as you're asked about your previous exploits. Perhaps you can gain boons and allies. But right now, one thing's for certain.
You need backup. And Yabiko is where to find it.

Take a wild guess how he got to Iwatsu.
Or more accurately, who?
