It's that time of day again, folks.

And, as usual, I'm late.

Also, my grandfather's dying of pneumonia, but this isn't really new.

___________________________________

You are Alice Zief, an amnesiac Armagus technician.

And, just maybe, you have given someone designs for a machine that has not been invented yet. You did give them some of you hair though, so that they could do a DNA analysis and maybe help clear up that amnesiac portion of your introduction.

And now that person, one Professor Kokonoe, is staring down your mutual host like he's a particularly offensive man who told her to go suck on eggs. Considering how Jubei, a giant bipedal cat, has been an overall decent individual in the time you've known him, this isn't really a reaction you expect people to have to him.

Sure, you know he's capable of inducing utter terror using nothing but his very presence, which quite the accomplishment considering he's an overgrown cat, but still.

Kokonoe looks ready to to jump at him and claw his eyes out, her own tiny cat-ears twisting low and back like an angry feline.

The primary question is how...

This is a situation requiring tact, wit, and masterful diplomacy.

"Coffee or tea?"

Instantly both parties snap their heads at you, as if they had forgotten you were in the room. Jubei recovers his wits first.

"You don't have to-"

"Coffee." Kokonoe interrupts. "Just serve it black. I'll add my own sugar." The older cat grumbles under his breath for a second, but lets you know that he'd like some tea.

Brewing the two different cups takes a moment, and has the pair taking to a couch in the living room to wait. Once there, Kokonoe does her level best to pretend that Jubei isn't actually there, and anything that he says 'Must be the wind.'

The old cat gave up after the fifth ignored question on how she's been, instead drawing his hood low over his eyes. Given he doesn't seem to have fingers, you wonder just how he did that before going back to pouring.

A moment later, you return to the room with their respective drinks.

They both utter a polite thank you, before taking their first sips.

For his part, Jubei's expression sours ever so slightly before he set the cup back down on the table. Meanwhile, Kokonoe practically purrs into her own cup, apparently more than pleased with your own blend.

"Thanks. I asked for black, but you did a pretty good job with this." Another sip and a pleased sigh. "It's even better then that dolt Carmine's."

You meant to serve it black, but... Well, she looks like a person who likes sweets, and before you knew it, you had dumped in a bunch of sugar.

The professor raises an eyebrow, but evidently decides that it's not worth looking a gift horse in the mouth right this second.

Relaxing against the wall, you take a moment to admire Kokonoe's honest smile. When you were chatting before, she'd had a smug grin while rattling off number and figures and basking in the presence of someone smart enough to realize how smart she was.

Right now, it's a more open look. If you were to use another cat analogy, she'd be the one napping in the sun.

Still, you doubt she'd appreciate being called 'cute', even if she is.

The silence can't last forever.

"So, what're you going to do next, Professor?"

Her golden eyes consider you over the rim of her cup.

"I came out here to examine something. Seeing as that's done, I'll be heading back to my lab. Between the sample you gave me and those new designs, I'll be busy for quite some time. And given how useless my lab assistant is, I bet he'll need help with some project too." She drums her clawtips on the table, weighing options in her mind.

"An Armagus technician like yourself isn't exactly regular Sector 7 material, but I can't deny you've got some brains. Did you want to come with me?"

"Sorry, I'm going to have to decline." You apologize. "I think I want to stay in this village for at least a little while longer. At least until my wounds are healed." The professor shrugs and refocuses on her coffee.

"Suit yourself."

With Kokonoe absorbed in her mug, you ask the same question of Jubei.

"Me? Oh, I'll be in town for a few more days picking up supplies and what not before Ragna and I head back down into the valleys. If'n you don't mind, I'd like to ask you to see about teachin' the brat a bit about armagus. I know the basics, but if you were able to keep up with Kokonoe enough that she wants you to come to her lab, then you probably can teach it better'n I could."

You debate it for a moment.

It's not like you have much to do here until you recover properly, but after being able to push yourself in the conversation with Kokonoe teaching a kid feels like a bit of stepdown.

There's also the fact that it would lock up your schedule over the next couple of days, and you're not exactly sure how studious the boy is when it comes to subjects not involving violence.

"Why not?" You give the cat a reassuring smile. "How hard could it be?"

...

The next morning has you eating your words.

It's not that he's stupid. Or at least, he's not much dumber than any other kid his age would be. The problem is that the way he was raised up until now was fairly sheltered.

You hadn't known how bad it was until he asked what an Ars actually was. Then you had to explain Seithr. And then the Black Beast.

What rock did Jubei find this kid under, exactly?

Still, at least once you have his attention he listens.

A few of the Kaka kittens ended up wandering into the lot where you were explaining things, and wanted to be in the class too since Ragna had told them the day before it had been pretty interesting. But then, those lectures had been punctuated by practical demonstrations to go with things. For a human child, that was more than enough to grab their attention.

For the Kaka kittens... Unless you were willing to constantly expend effort to keep them entertained in class, they were nothing but a distraction. An adorable distraction that you had lead on to break through wall with a laser pointer, But still not quite the kind of thing you wanted taking a class with someone you were actually trying to teach.

At the end of third day of lessons, you had managed to get him up from a level best described as 'completely ignorant' to 'appropriate for his age group'. And, best of all, he was interested in learning more! Self-motivation could accomplish a lot in the field of education, even if it was pretty likely he'd spend the next few months doing nothing but physical training.

Tomorrow Ragna leaves with Juubei, but until he's been given a rest day. Which means no overt training, but Jubei did suggest that maybe you take the boy up to a higher level of Kagutsuchi and let him see more than then just the Kaka Village.

You haven't been up there yourself yet, either. So this should be fun for both of you.

But where to look exactly...

The Hanging Gardens.

You've heard from a few of the older members of the Kaka clan that near the top of the city was an amazingly beautiful park, filled with green plant life and elegant statues.

And they've been chased out more than a few times since their clan isn't exactly seen so much as 'a group of people who happen to live below the city of Kagutsuchi' as they are a 'dangerous group of barely sentient troublemaking animals.'

"But then, that was then and this is now." One clad in black tells you. "Time passes, and we strive to prove ourselves as legitimate residents of Kagutsuchi and loyal subjects of the NOL. Only the most foolishly arrogant of nobility would dispute the Kaka Clan's right to visit the upper levels of the city now." She says with a wry twist to her lips.

Then again, it could be a totally genuine smile.

You can't actually see under those hoods, after all.

Still, it ends up taking you a decent chunk of the morning to walk up the paths, escalators, and elevators that carry people upward. The lowest levels of the city are crowded with more human people then you've ever seen, but then the amnesia kinda means that whatever experiences you have generally aren't very varied.

Still, The crowds thin as you travel upward from the ramshackle districts and shops in the bottom half of the city. The houses become more uniform, matching their rough styles first, then becoming more and more similar as you go upward, until they become identical apartment buildings.

Then passing the last set of luxury apartments, you start see space between the buildings again. Houses with wide, sweeping lawns, trees, and even fountains. Birds flutter between a few, and one house with a pond even has ducks.
>>
>>38349813

Eventually, you come to the park.

Fine brick paths, neatly trimmed trees and bushes, carefully arranged flowers wrapping around finely carved statues made of blue jade. It's pretty.

"It looks weird." Ragna states, giving the park a vaguely confused sweep of his eyes. "Parks are supposed to look like nature, right? This doesn't look anything like the valleys I trained with Master in."

You suppose someone who spent several months at a time in the wilderness wouldn't exactly be impressed at this tamed representation of nature. Still, you spent all morning climbing. It's not like you can just leave without doing anything.

My Google-Fu brought me these, but that's all I could find. From what I understand, the original image was from the anniversary artbook and Mori then later did all spoopy about it on his twitter. You end up drifting with Ragna through the park for awhile, walking down the carefully maintained paths and finding the overall experience artificial.

Eventually, you end up gravitating towards the only other person in the park who is 1) not wearing the robes of nobility or an NOL uniform and 2) appears to be somewhat close in age to Ragna. Maybe a little older, but not much.

She looks to be playing with a wooden sword at first. But as you grow closer, it becomes more and more obvious to you that those are sword drills. Not ones meant for a specific style, just a generalized drill meant to strengthen the body. When you get within a few dozen feet of her, the girl stops and turns to face you.

"Good day." She announces, rather than says. "Can I help you?"

"Sup. My name's Ragna." The boy puts his good foot forward. "Mind if I ask what you're doing?" The girl stares at him, golden eyes flat.

"Training." She turns away, resuming her regimen. "I must become stronger if I wish to join the Company." Ragna blinks, interest piqued.

"Company?"

"Yes. The Irons Independent Military Contractors, to be precise." A hint of pride emerges in her voice. "They are an elite special forces group that can perform a wide spectrum of operations, ranging from clandestine intelligence gathering to direct military intervention to discreet assassination. They have even taken multiple top-secret missions from the Library and Sector Seven." You can practically here the glow in her voice.

"Never heard of them." Ragna admits, immediately shoving his foot in his mouth judging by the girl's almost violent reaction.

"What."

"I mean, you're trying to make them sound like the next Six heroes, but they're only a group of minor vigilantes, right?" The girl's rage is nigh palpable from here, and you start edging away. Ragna, seemingly unable to notice, keeps right on with his tired. "That aside, isn't not introducing yourself after someone already helped you out a rude thing to do?"

Jerkily, the girl turns to face Ragna with a wooden expression.

"Bullet." Again, the boy blinks. "My name is Bullet." She says again through gritted teeth. Ragna, for his part, continues to behave as expected.

"Well that's a stupid sounding name."

"And you have a stupid looking face." She brings her sword back, gathering strength for the next strike, which you think will probably hit soft flesh rather then empty air.

Perhaps you should do something...

You sigh.

This isn't quite what you had in mind for a 'day off', but sometimes you need to teach people that actions have consequences. In this case, letting your mouth run with no filter between it and your brain? A bad idea.

You gesture, one arm resting on your grimoire holstered on your hip.

Silver rings surround the pair of children, freezing them in place. Instantly, both their eyes lock on to yours.

"Now then, much as I can't say I like violence being the first resort... I think Ragna should perhaps learn to think ahead with his words a little." You nod to them, and they blink in unison, not quite sure of where you're going with this.

"The rules are as follows. Combat will be unarmed. There are to be no strikes to the crotch, no going for the eyes and no scratching. The first one to surrender or be incapable of continuing loses the match. Any attempts to deal deadly damage will result in an automatic forfeit, and I will be telling your respective superiors." A twitch of your finger loosens the bindings around their heads.

"YES MA'AM!" Bullet immediately shouts at the top of her lungs. Ragna has to take a second to process this, but murmurs his own agreement in a much more subdued manner.

"You are to start on my count and my count only! Failure to do so will result in an automatic disqualification! Am I clear?" You bark out.

"YES MA'AM!" Another enthusiastic cry from from Bullet. Ragna just nods, looking more mystified by the minute.

A moments levitation separates them, while the girl releases her wooden sword, letting it fall to ground near her designated starting position.

"Three.. Two... One..." The boy swallows, but keeps his eye on the girl. The girl just stares him down, face blank but eyes full of focus.

"Begin!" You pull the bindings off, and the match starts.

The resulting beat down is remarkably one sided.

Bullet reacted faster, struck harder, and actually had training in hand to hand combat. That's something you're beginning to think represents a possibly gaping hole in his style.

It takes Bullet less then two minutes to have the boy pinned face down in the grass, one arm forced into a hyper-extension while he mewls his surrender. Almost immediately, she jump off of him like he's on fire and goes back to her sword, a faint smile on her lips.

Ragna, meanwhile, just spends a long moment moaning in pain face down before you flip him over. Then he moans face up. Some mild pain-killers ease most of the ache while you double check the bruises and make he didn't get slammed so hard he picked up a concussion.

While you're attending to the boy's wounds, a fourth person enters the clearing. A well muscled man wearing clothes remarkably similar to Bullet's, excepting the additional metal bracers. Looking over at you and Ragna, more specifically noting the fact that Ragna is unable to move unaided, he adjusts his glasses and sighs.

"Bullet, did you get into another fight?" He asks like a father resigned to the fact that his daughter has once again gotten herself into a fine mess.

Immediately the girl's pride evaporates.

Perhaps You should...

To be fair, at this point in time Jubei's only been giving Ragna swordsmanship lessons and managing his physical conditioning. And he's only been doing that for a few months.

And, amazing though he may be, Jubei's a cat. Unarmed combat for a human is quite different from that of a cat.

And I locked him into an unarmed match against a girl who's been studying/training to get into a special forces mercenary team.

Eventually he gets better. That's just 'eventually' though.

Not really.
He might become NOL's boogeyman when he grows up, but right now he's still a kid. No amount of training by a talking cat will make him as strong as a girl who trains Hand-to-Hand and Swordfighting all day, and there is no way he would have been able to win that fight he had against Alice.

And there's also the fact the Dice are fucking him over whenever he fights.

If you had asked me during the first thread?

I'd have basically been left gaping, because I didn't know that was a thing and found the first picture kind of creepy.

But Alpha's grown on me. Like an adorable genderbent engine of mass destruction. It helps that she has a decent sized chest compared to the other Murakumo units. And that mechamusume are generally pretty cute when they aren't forcibly converted to moeblob lolis.

Anyway.

Going to Sector 7 with Kokonoe would've given you early access to the tools to make your own personal Murakumo, but it's not entirely mandatory. Gathering enough resources on your own to to conduct experiments on the Boundary, hitting up an old abandoned lab, or a variety of other scenarios I haven't thought up yet are all possible.

Including overseeing Ragna and Nu's fusion dance to make sure they don't fall into the Cauldron and enter a pool of timey-wimey.

I don't advise this last one, though. It doesn't really sound like a very Onee-san thing to do.
>>
>>38351758
Truly you are a man of good taste, Shaderic.
And it's not like we have burned any bridges with Best Nekomata*, so I think we can still work together to create her.

>*Kokonoe is Best Nekomata, while Tao is Best Catgirl. The jury is still out on whether Jubei qualifies for Best Catdude, but considering his failure in teaching Ragna common knowledge he isn't anywhere close to winning that position.
>>
We should join up with Sector 7 later down the line. After we make sure Ragna is less of a total dumbass and actually learn him to strategize and think things through.

Since, you know, Terumi's plans all depend on the participant doing none of those things.
>>
>>38351931
Hell, nothing says we can't go spend a few months with Ragna and Jubei while keeping in touch with Kokomoe.
There are certainly a couple Long-Distance Communication Ars and we can likely make one for secure communication with Sector 7.

We talk about Science and about how all of our friends are stupid and how refreshing it is to talk with someone with a functioning brain for a change.
>>
>>38351931

>>
>>38352019

And you think that's gonna change without some prodding and work? Which would in turn stop Lichi from being a backstabbing whore. Which would in turn give us two more people to work with.

>>38352012

>>
>>38352019
Sector Seven IS pretty useless, but they have Kokonoe and had the guy who became Arakune and Litchi, who are cool people.
>>
Honestly, best thing we can do is keep an eye out for Ragna and go with him wherever he goes.

That way we can also crib parts from the other Murakumo units into our own
>>
>>38352153
Couldn't we break down the Murakumo units back into souls then smelt them into a Nox Nyctores for Ragna to use?
>>
>>38352189
That requires specialized equipment, like one of those enormous cauldrons that the NOL Have.
Doimg something like that would probably require us to join Sector 7 or the NOL, and if we have to join anything I say we go with Kokonoe and just get him an Idea Engine or something.
>>
>>38352189

Well, then we're dealing with soul smelting, which is arguably really sketchy considering we may or may not be a Murakumo.

Seizing Ragna by his least damaged shoulder, you haul him up to his feet. He doesn't resist beyond letting out a litany of curses under his breath, but you handily ignore those as you guide him over to where Bullet's superior is quietly and politely giving her the 'I am not angry, just disappointed' speech.

When he reaches an appropriate pause, you gently squeeze Ragna's shoulder. Then when he doesn't do anything, you squeeze again a little harder.

"Good afternoon sir. My name is Alice Zief. I'm afraid that I may have perhaps allowed your daughter to engage in a fight with Ragna in the interest of teaching a him a lesson about what he's saying. Speaking of which, don't you have something to say, Ragna?"

You squeeze him a third time, just to make sure he gets the picture.

"I'm... sorry." He grumbles. "Your name isn't stupid." You look at him and smile. He gulps. "And I'm sorry for calling the Irons or whatever just vigilantes." You pat his shoulder, this time releasing a healing Ars into his system.

It seems he can be taught.

For his part, the man adjust his glasses again, this time wearing a rather bemused smile.

"And I'm sure that Bullet accepts his apology. Don't you Bullet?" Instantaneously she snaps into a salute.

"Yes Sir! Apology accepted!" Chastisement accomplished, the man relaxes a bit, crossing his arms.

"I'm afraid I've neglected to introduce myself. I'm Commander Terrence Irons of Irons Independent Military Contractors." He chuckles a bit. "Though it seems more people know me by my nickname, these days. You can call me Tager as well, if you wish to do so."

>>38352527

>>
>>38352540

>>
So I've devised of a way to keep whatever we make or design safe from Terumi's little green ghost fingers by finding this old gem in my image folder.

>>
>>38352394
Awesome, time for a complex question.

> we can likely steal one of those cauldrons for Sector Seven's usage during Ragna's huge NOL massacres

OK, setting apart the thing where I thought the plan was to guide Ragna away from leaving a trail of blood deep enough to wade through, stealing a Cauldron isn't exactly... practical. These are not small things. Or even medium sized things.

They're actually kind of fucking huge.

That said, you could probably either find an abandoned one or make one on your own given enough time. Sector 7 knows an awful lot about what's been abandoned beneath rising tides of Seithr.

>Already smelted souls are fair game really.

This is a complex moral issue that I feel should be left to yo guys. It'll be more interesting that way.

>Doing something like that would probably require us to join Sector 7 or the NOL, and if we have to join anything I say we go with Kokonoe and just get him an Idea Engine or something.

If you're looking to upgrade Ragna, this is plausible. You'd just need to spend some time refining the technology and working it into Ragna's arm.

>Couldn't we break down the Murakumo units back into souls then smelt them into a Nox Nyctores for Ragna to use?

Nox can fuck with their users, you know that, right? They're really cool, and were honestly necessary to fight the Black Beast (probably), but they're also horrible abominations.

>That way we can also crib parts from the other Murakumo units into our own

Also possible. I forget the exact number Ragna terminated on his own, but there are supposedly ten other Murakumos we haven't laid eyes on. Lots of potential there.

>>38352636

Alright, the mechanic I'm planning.

Who all was here for the first thread? The one where I cited one of my influences as Ar Nosurge?

Here's a link for those who want to go back and look at it.

http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/37812770/

Anyway, one of your things that wasn't broken at the time was Cross-world Link.

Since enough time has passed IC that it's sub-systems could possibly be coming online, I thought about giving you guys the ability to make Observations via Alice and from there perform Interventions.

Basically, if I don't specify something, you can ask about it. Depending on the depth of Observation, you could gain the ability to make an Intervention, which is basically using quantum bullshit to make a change to the environs. This could manifest as you dodging to right instead of the left, things that would otherwise be relatively improbable happening, or other things like that.

To use Nasu's marble analogy, there are 10 marbles in the bag. One of them is red. You could perform an Intervention to ensure that you drew the red marble. It's within the realm of possibility, but a little unlikely.

Alternatively, you could basically use them as Star Points to fight Natural 1's or other shitty rolls in the thread.

Bad idea, good idea, weird idea?

Also cool, but lacking subtitles.

In regards to your other question, Alice is tall and curvy. Her long silver is tied into a braid, and her amber eyes seem to glow in the dark. Your face isn't that of a tradition beauty, being rather boyish.

When it comes to clothes, you prefer plain and servicable garments, generally wearing heavy boots and dark colors. Mostly you stick to wearing pants and a rather ordinary looking jacket. About your only real concession to the fashionable madness that infests Japanese games is the cloak you wear that is also lined with Ars to help protect you from the elements.

Pic related for how the cloak looks.

Friend, I love doing these. Hence why I've spent over 12 hours on my day hunched over my computer writing them and chatting with other people about. But I also want to avoid burnout.

Taking a week between blazblue sessions means I generally come to the board excited to do them. If I spend every waking moment on the thing, it starts feeling like work. And nobody wants to do work.

So to maintain this high(ish) level of quality, it'll generally be one session a week.

Oh, hey.

Didn't think I'd see you here.

Well, nobody starts out decent. I've run quests and RPs and played in both over the years. I'm still relatively new to tg though, so I'm still learning things.

If this is the first game you've ever run, I think I'll give you a few tips. Number one, grammar and spelling.

Seriously, grammar and spelling. It makes the difference between sounding cultured and refined and suondngi dum as bukkit.

That's obviously an exaggeration, but it gets the point across.

I'd also recommend knowing your topic, knowing what kind of game you want to run in advance, who your characters, and just in general?

Being ready to write. A lot.

Seriously.

I've been more or less writing as a hobby since my freshman year of high school. I've grown older and wiser, and have improved a lot over the years. A couple of characters have grown with me over the years. changing names and face, but their core concepts remaining relatively untouched.

And some of those notebooks I would rather burn then let any of you see, because god fucking damn it I sucked a LOT back then.

I could tell you things about expanding your vocabulary, or considering your word choice when doing things from a certain point of view. Hell, a lot of stories can be improved by drawing a wall between yourself and your characters and asking what a normal person in that situation would do, and answering why your character is doing something different.

But again, there's no teacher like experience out there.

It's OK to fall.

It's /tg/, what're they gonna do? Call you mean names on the internet?

So long as you're learning with each failure and applying that knowledge with each new idea, you'll steadily get better.

Until, one day... You'll meet someone who actually wants to read your stuff. People who like it. And I'm betting you already have a few people like that. And you'll want to get better for them, and you will.

So long as you keep learning and keep writing.

>>38355132

Pre-writing is a personal choice. I generally have no idea what the players are going to get up, so I mostly focus on making sure the threads chain together neatly. I might make some notes, and I'll generally put together some plot to lead them in. From there, I have a bunch of strings ready, and it's just a matter of seeing which one they want to pick up.

As for allusions?

Hey man, it's your thread. You can do what you want with it. Just keep in mind that you don't want to be redoing my story. You want to writing your own. I'd prefer if Alice didn't show up in there without asking for my input, but feel free to go wild.

Probably not Alice unless you asked.
I'd have to be like, at least 20-40 threads in before I even thought about a crossover.
