We return where we have been, in the thick of a precarious battle for our survival, barbarians outside the gate, the undead rise beneath or feet, and now. . .the madness is upon the world.

Which may or may not work.

If we're doomed to die, I'd rather we just quit now. Don't let me see them be destroyed. Let me remember them in their glory, where they had the potential, where a lot of my savings went.

How can you say the civ structure is done when we can never win? You are not hard but fair like dark souls. No you are hard and broken. Genie. You are attari et.

He has a point there, Genie.

Hundreds of Dollars, Stacks upon stacks and boons, and we can't prevent this?

Do we really need to be even richer to play the game? Maybe donating 200 at a time instead of 100. . .

...DON'T spend your fucking SAVINGs.

>>38299911
"Hah ha i is tired boss."

"BOOS."

"What?"

"We got new guys!"

"Who?"

"Magi...and other guys."

"Imprisoned magi?"

"Yup."

"Well shit free those sons of bitches."

"Sir we found a very interesting ruins..."

"How interesting exactly?"

"Well for 1 its a shorcut out of here and for two...well your just gonna have to check it out for yourself sir."

"Hmph very well then soldier lead the way."

So the boss went to investigate there he found something of interest...

"Hm an old guard base huh? Wait...is could that be an intact armory?"

"QUICK CRACK IT OPEN."

So using their skills it was broken into.

"holy shit."

"This is...auto armors, and is that? Can't it be? Let me ch-VRBOOZAP"

"And there is still ton a of ammo."

"Sir the magic stores are still intact."

"hehehehahahahhahh WE MADE IT BOYS."

>>38300461
Its closer to dorf fort then dark souls.

When we're this close and I've given all I can, I WILL. If it's keeping you out of poverty and me achieving the one thing I can find meaningful, I will.

It's lucky the bank is closed this hour.
>>
>>38300555
Even still, one can have successful Dorf Forts before something goes wrong and they spiral to death.

"We have spread word to the...survivors."

"Very well then magi you may depart."

"Sir pretty much everyone made it back...with loot."

"Good now we wont be sticking around here we gotta move lads."

"Why sir this is paradise!"

"Because number 1 there is a living legacy nearby dumb ass and number 2 the undead will eventually come back down here. We gotta be gone by then."

"By surface?"

"hell no that place is crawling with undead...you see this map here?"

"Yeah what about it?"

"Its a tunnel network idiot and the maps over here are dwarf with their routes included."

"So..."

"We gonna take them and get out of here over the mountains...well technically it would be through or under but you get my point."

"Very well sir then shall we depart?"

"Yup once we gathered our strength lets move."

"What about the legacy?"

"He will pay in due time. They aren't immortal after all and even they can not only be slain but beaten."

"...You got guts sir."

"Nah we need to do it for HIM am I right?"

Very well sir.

"Meanwhile we need to scout soldier so let us go."

"What for?"

"For many reasons also some fun."

"Fun?"

"Surface means living."

"And dead."

"Which we can handle and guess what we can do wit the living hm?"

"heheh I like your style boss it been...do we even know how long its been?"

"I try to not think about."

"Ah smart...some of us...just can't help it you know?"

"Ah sir what bout the other test subjects?"

"They aren't like those rampaging abominations are they?"

"nope."

"Then were good."

"Ah very well I will make sure to inform the men."

"Do that."

>>38300694
I need to work on war rules anon and they tend to be the top cause of civ death...

Would be nice to work on that.

Besides there are tons of other active civs and I need to work on the part 2 of 3.
>>
>>38300772
Can you just let us survive this and built the damn fort and then we go into war mode? That's been the plan since forever.
>>

Sometime later at a village getting ransacked.

"...hey where did boss go?"

"Said he heard somefin odd and he was gonna check it out."

"WHat he didn't stick around for some fun?"

"Eh he has prison bitches and this ain't his thing."

"Bah more for us then...should we take some along?"

"...I would you know for the road."

"Wooh wait will the boss go with it?"

"Nah he cool like dat so long as we make sure no trouble happens besides he knows about the needs."

"Hm boss is good boss."

"Now dat he is now lets hurry up we gonna need some more supplies and fun for the trip."

"Wut about boss?"

"He said he'll find us besides he does have an escort along."

"Fair enough."

Meanwhile while the troops descend like a swarm of locus underground and disappearing once more after surfacing.

They gathered their strength...recruiting was done, supplies were gathered, gear was handed out, and forces were preparing.

heroic units were spawned, bad asses were made, and elites were gathered.

A certain fellow was walking around when he heard shouting...upon getting closer he noticed a lone lady.

"What the?"

Who appeared to be talking to herself...but as he paid attention he noticed that he was in fact not so correct.

As his escorts gathered...he realized this was quite the opportunity so he and them approached surrounding her.

"Why hello dere my fair lady and what troubles you so?"

"...How do the undead deal with the lack of...emotion of their dead brain?"

"Hah...its not completely dead lady if they are undead."

"Oh how so?"

"You are aware of the appetites the eternal love and hatred for the living among other things?"

"Oh...so wait what do you mean?"

"Not all undead are empty in the head and a few of those who aren't still in fact feel. Sadly there is a problem with that."

"How so?"

"The mindfuck that is undead it...twists the mind and body. Emotions...are also possibly affected it warps them, corrupts them, and can make it a mere mockery of what it was
>>
Rolled 38 (1d100)

>>38301112
"So...they can still feel?"

"In a way some can. Remember though the undead are a mockery of both of living and the dead. The utterly cold emotionless ones...well they too exist as well as ones who are entirely empty up there. Then there are those who still 'feel' whether it be hatred of the living or unceasing hunger. Those are not the only ones who can 'feel' though there are others too...can enjoy some emotions of the living. Just remember though just as they feel they too are affected with the afliction that is undeath which will twist it into a mockery of what it was."

That was when the lady was laughing.

"Ah mam we are gonna want you to come with us."

"AHAHAH I am so RELIEVED...for a second there I really thought I was in trouble and yes your kidnapping plan was fairly obvious."

"Hm it was?"

"Yes but for the info I will spare your lives."

"Hah," spoke up an escort as he raised his weapon. "You are in no place to be making those kind of offers."

"Actually I am," she retorted. "Just look around you."

"AH there ain't noth-oh shit," began one soldier as figures appeared. Knights who blended into the night, wretched undead, and felled fighters with weapons drawn.

"...apparently you are indeed correct and are quite merciful for sparing our lives."

"Ahem think we can into escapings boss?"

"No were screwed."

"..."

"Don't worry just not right now...I will try to think of something."

"..."

"I promise."

"..."

"Have faith."

"..."

"Ahem," spoke up the lady as she was handed a mount and they started to ride out. Their prisoners meanwhile was forced to follow on foot and their leader was taken to walk beside the lady.

"And you are my lady? Overlord Valeria."

"...female overlord?"

"Yes I am and thanks for the info I needed that."

"Hm no problem. So where are we off to?"

"To deal with an Umpire."

"...your joking right?"

"nope. Oh don't worry though if you survive I'll let you go."

"...oh we're dead."

"Quite likely."
>>
>>38300772
You know what. Do it. Twist the knife. But I now I know that the npc's are not the enemy. Nor the undead, or monsters. Not even the dice. The true enemy is you.

And so their host marched...wiping out a few undead and into the canyon from which is the focus point of this whole undead mess.

"So...why you are willing to commit a suicide mission like this?"

"Because its their fault I ended up like this," and so she explained what happened.

"Wouldn't it be your idiot commander's fault?"

"no."

"Why the hell not?"

"If I would blame him like that it would be akin to blaming a child for being a child."

"So...you blame the undead instead."

"Well not ALL of them just the Umpire."

"Its the Umpire's fault you nuked yourself with necrotic energy?"

"Yes," simply confirmed Valeria as she her unholy rage continually started increasing.

"So why so pissed well besides the obvious."

"Well besides it being their fault my assets will no longer grow, it rendered me infertile, oh AND I reek of necrotic corruption. Besides the whole starting a plague, planning to slave the living bullshit which I don't really particularly care about but the holy crusaders do so there you go."

"wait holy crusaders?"

"Well obviously I am not about to go in there without backup."

"...wait where the hell are they?"

"Oh they will be serving as reinforcements eventually for now we are simply going to walk right through that there army of undead right to the undead heroic asshole responible for this mess."

"Then what?"

"Why then I punish him of course got to take my rage out on somebody."

"Why not the undead?"

"They aren't attacking us are they?"

"...wait how the hell did you manage that?"

"Simple 1 I reek of necrotic energy and 2 I am extremely fucking pissed off woman who is planning to get payback and will more then happy inflict such horrors upon those who get in my way that the Old One's would be impressed with my seemingly eldritch talent."

"...ah i guess I see."

"No you don't," coolly stated the lady. "but you will."

"...Great," squeaked out her companion.

"I know right?"

SO should stayed with the troops thought the leader.

Genie, I love your threads. Your post-apoc civs make my pee-pee go wee-wee. But please for the love of all that is holy and just in the world, please, please, pleeease can you try and keep the archives somewhat organized? I really want find each of these threads so I can catch up and join in but it makes it hard when they're scattered far and wide, fail to load, and generally seem to not want to be found.

Having said that I will admit that I did acquire most of them with ease, It's just the first 4 and the last 3 that are being troublesome, so take all this with a grain of salt.

With love,
-A Lurker

I try, but sometimes for some damn reason I archive something on SUPTG and it breaks, or worse I fall asleep expecting the thread to be alive in the morning but its dead.

Eventually they arrived to the necropolis...and patiently waited and waited before finally they heard a shrieking scream.

"Ah there is their leader Mistress," commented a knight.

"AHH what are you idiots doing! Why ignore the living? They ain't even necromancers or chosen! Why don't you slaught-" that was when the words were caught in the undead's mouth as it looked over and noticed the sheer unholy rage and radiant sunlike being of necrotic energy along with a commanding presence. "Oh..shit well HELLO there new lea-"

"YOU," simply spoke Valeria in a voice that despite being spoken softly reverberated throughout the canyon. "YOU will PAY!"

"I...wut?"

before anyone knew what was happening Valeria had already hopped down off her sister and stood before the leader of the Umpire. There she radiated such unholy malice and putrid hatred that even the mindless zombies could feel it and couldn't help but shuffle awkwardly in their pathetic attempt to vacate the area...sadly there were just too many of them and they were far too stupid to leave in fashion that would allow escape.

Not that they didn't try though and you could certainly hear the strain in the air of their mindless struggle. One couldn't help but feel sorry for the cowering undead as the Valeria both spoke such eldritch words that even the dead couldn't help but try desperately not to hear...sadly even those without ears were forced to listen due to her ability to speak death. The vile atrocities she committed to the leader as she beat him...among other things also served to sunder morale.

And made a damn good point why one should avoid...whatever it was he apparently did. Eventually though the undead leader attempted to escape running for his (un)life that was abruptly cut short with a flung shoe.

That was when all hell broke loose as their leader fell dead(again) and suddenly holy streams of light rained down from the sun searing undead and revealing a sparkling army of light and in holy chant marched down upon the enemy.

Apparently for some reason the shoe was a signal of some kind. That meant all hell would break lose.

Sure enough it did and the undead were swiftly dealt with. In the aftermath...the holy leader approached and spoke up.

"So about your undead..." he began but soon croaked out as he started sweating profusely and adjusted his neck armor.

"About what," she asked in seeming sweetness...while radiating something very much else.

"Well...you know we'll um we will just deal with that after we deal with the uh other undead first."

"Ah very wise of you indeed!"

With that the leader departed quickly to his holy hosts as they prepared to move once more.

"So...guessing I am free?"

"If you want to be."

"hah? what do-" that was when he felt the overwhelming pressure.

Shit its that damned ability again...and he started sweating profusely as he desperately resisted.

After a seeming long struggle and broke free.

"You...have my thanks lost lady but me and my men are needed elsewhere." With that he grabbed his captured escorts who were in shock and dragged them away before the pressure could be focused most on them instead.

There he left a shocked lady with inadequate assets and wondering just how the hell he managed to resist could speak only one word in her confusion.

"Lost?"

With that though they were gone seemingly vanished.

Eventually she broke out of her stupor as she finally realized what it was.

"SON OF A BITCH."

-----
"Hey boss why are we running so fast?"

"Just fucking RUN you fools."

>>
Rolled 5 (1d100)

>>38319501
...fuck ain't no actual details what he looked like besides the Memor basic template.

The average memor mutant was short, with big eyes, pale possibly nigh translucent sore covered skin, and often with brightly colored hair and eyes. Their eye and hair color by the way don't follow normal human color ranges. The only rule of thumb is they tended towards being bright or pale.

Besides their terrible skin condition and shortness they would actually be rather attractive. Also if you could get over their very fucking creepy nature.

The prophet in particular...was extremely fucking creepy even by Memor and often didn't seem to be entirely there.

Like at all.

One would say he was air headed or in his own world if it wasn't for his incredible astute understanding of his surroundings and others.

As for what the Prophet looked like personally...well besides being extremely pale and rather short. His eyes were a pale pink and his hair was a bright blue.

He does naturally have serious skin problems and looks like he would catch fire in the sun. If he is in it for any amount of time one wouldn't be blamed to mistake him for some sort of demon.

The others weren't really good including the veronica pic. Remember she is a knight and is often wearing heavy armor.

>>38320637
Been a bad fucking day.

Just do a 'male' centaur in heavy armor. In a proper suit of armor it can be damn difficult to tell the sex when done right.

Its partly why you see so much boobplate or helmetless female fighters.

IRL or in setting even with the armor the female voice would serve to give them away still.

Or cause a male with a girly voice lots of pain...totally gonna need to do that now.

Then it'll be time to talk about their service during the leadup to, and early Fall that turned them into a proper megacorp.

Then I've got to fluff up the super-special bunker, homeground, and terrain, the PC Civ will inhabit.

...are you serious anon?

Don't be getting my hopes up for art made for my shit.

The bonus boon for such a thing...it would be the first ever art boon instead of pic boon or survival boon.

How he holds himself...is he isn't all despite reeking of power and holding an extremely creepy atmosphere there yet somehow he misses nothing. He walks and moves though as someone who carries an immense burden and now he seems haunted by something.

When he arrived he was wearing advanced comfortable clothing and carried a crystal staff.

Now he wears this era clothing but also the most comfortable variety(you wouldn't catch him dead dressed as a noble). He still carries the staff though.

He didn't really carry much in the ways of armor or weapons due to his natural abilities and the fact he was never on the battlefield no one bothered kitting him out.

In his line of work comfort was everything.
>>
>>38323571
I always imagined him in a hooded cloak with some light kevlar plate armor underneath. You can still see his eyes though, as for weapons...nah, he's not the sort that needs physical weapons. He's got psionics for that shit.

Exactly but he never bothered with armor much either.

Psi shield is some potent ass shit especially if your strong as he.

And he wasn't a fan of cloaks.

Blankets oh totally in fact that was his 'cloak' was actually just a modified blanket.

In the sci fi world he was often dressed in a comfy bath robe and PJs.

Now he wears robes instead though he DOES wear cloaks now on occasion but he still prefers his blankets.

Now he just wears robe, cloak, and blanket turned 'scarf'.

He is much more sensitive to his appearance now considering he is the only fucking mutant around.

Right now there's just two broke-as-fuck design/engineering firms, and one Paramilitary CEO with a mission in mind...

>>
Rolled 90 (1d100)

>>38325047
...Well fuck the prophet was born and grew up among the Memor dwelling deep underground and surviving. He however turned out to be much stronger psionicly then his brethren and he believed in destiny. That was to lead his people to the surface and start a new way of life.

Unlike other...super powered beings he was never lonely thanks to the hivemind connection that laid between the Memor. It also helped that he never developed a god complex due to there being threats that could easily squish even him.

Growing up...fuck never thought much about his childhood. I guess growing up he used his strength to protect his brethren and as he grew older and wiser his flock expanded until one day he decided it was time for them to leave the underground.

Under him the memor expanded and they were reaching the limits of what could be sustained safely and he had news that the surface had settled down. When compared to the the deeps was paradise being much richer in both necessities of life and much more space.

So they sent out on a lengthy journey that ended when the Civ began. Really though when you get down to it the prophet never had much of a personal life actually...hm I am gonna have to use that now.

Since now the Prophet is sorta forced to. Oh that is gonna be fun! Can't believe I fucking missed it until now...

As for the art I think it would be best to Post considering this civ.
>>
Rolled 58 (1d100)

>>38325154
Now remember he grew up in deep underground where a sci fi post apocalypse happened.

There magic clashed psi and tech reigned supreme. They were somewhat sheltered but had to deal with other dangers and shortages along with lack of space.

Its rather cramped down there...the mutants thanks to physiology were able to rapidly adapt to their environment with a major mutation being a hivemind formed of their latent psionic energies which was more enhanced then the norm.

They were NOT however frail or weak. They still enjoyed the base boons of mutant physiology.

Simply put the weak or frail mutants ended up dead. Same with those who had too many mutations or too few that were advantageous.

Negative mutations were often downright deadly.

So those too often didn't survive.

basically mutants suffer a pretty extreme and fast paced survival of the fittest. Their 'baseline' advantages it true across all mutants simply because they all needed it as necessity.

However from there they had to carve out their own niches...which is where the mutants divulged from one another.

Can't believe i am talking about this in fantasy setting...though I suppose the point is also true for monsters.

So there you go the fantasy equivalent(or is it?).
>>
Rolled 2 (1d100)

>>38325233
TLDR mutants are fucked up but strong as those who aren't simply don't survive.

They play a deadly game that has high costs which is included with their pop increase dynamics.

Its just never really specified due to how sad and harsh a reality it is.

I am surprised no one has yet to bother collecting all this info into one document to be shared.

Its gonna be the closest thing you get to the Genie's personal notes.
>>
>>38324740
When Jack took over he molded everything about Volsyk to be designed to take down this particular Mega, from their weapons to their training to their augs. They never saw him coming, and it didn't help that Volsyk was able to hack half their forces into allies.

They also had auxiliary support from local populations and such. The Mega in question was inexplicably...evil.

I've posted the fluff for the Mega in question before, you might recall it.

Catches the good bits.

Rolled 74 (1d100)

That's up to genie
>>38325266
Genie I have a crazy idea.
The civilization lock box.
It's the size of a cargo truck. And shows up in a civ where someone rolls quads and a crit 100.
When that civ dies they can put anything that will fit in to the lockbox. Be it heros, material, computers, anything.
Then when the next civ that can roll a quad crit gets the contents of the lock box. If a civ rolls more than one quad crit the have more that one lock box to fill post civ death.
When more than one lockbox is in play and a civ gets a quad crit the lock box is chosen at random from all those that exist.
If a hero is in a lock box they can only be brought back by getting the lock box that they are in. They will serve the civ that unlocked them regardless of alignment.

The hole point of the lock box is that our faction is the only one with a limit on luck, good or bad. Other factions can get uber genie dice chains that rape us to death. Us, not so much. This lock box will help that in part.
>>
Rolled 13 (1d100)

>>38325468
...oh dear anon and I do recall. I recall there were some decent votes each time they were mentioned but they have yet to be locked in.

...anon your severely underestimating the power of a mega.

Those PMCs who SPECIALIZE against a particular mega?

They are actually a regular thing and make good business if they keep at it(at least until said mega gets tired enough of their shit).

However even with help they can't succeed in killing one.

They are just too big, powerful, and ungodly wealthy.

Megacorps have a hard time taking each other down. Each mega are known to have PMC armies SPECIALIZED to deal with another particular Mega and it STILL doesn't usually work even with their backing.

I can't seem to quite stress just how unholy powerful megacorps are. As I said before they are strong enough to raise a finger on a number of governments with ease.

Its not easy becoming a mega in fact its notoriously difficult.

>>38325765
Rape chains go both way anon as for lock box across civs....
That is what boons can be for at civ end and later beginning. Technically it already exists but isn't so limited as that. Be aware though that each boon burnt in such a way can only 'buy/bring' so much.
>>
>>38325915
Aah, yes megas are indeed powerful...but this is a force forged by a man destined (and trained explicitly) to take down this mega.

Also, they don't really take them down. They just force a tactical retreat.

If you'd like, then I'll rework the fluff a little bit. Volsyk will only eliminate [REDACTED]'s holdings on one planet that [REDACTED] doesn't own themselves, and then besiege a certain lair. They don't really face the full wrath or force of the Mega, because they cut at their weakness and force a retreat.
>>
Rolled 11 (1d100)

>>38325915
Basically anon Megacorps are expected to each on their own be powerful enough to wage wars, rule over worlds(whether directly or not), earn a seat on the corporate council(the closest thing to an overarching government they ALL must heed much less their lesser brethren), and basically be a potential contender of galactic power.

The corporate council btw? IS a universal power and its reach can be felt anywhere in the galaxy.

I haven't really mentioned the corporate council due to them being no real power in the Post Apocaplyse. Due to obvious reasons.

Kinda hard to be holy shit powerful when ALL your fucking members got the ever living shit beaten out of them.

>>38325975
That is most likely what happened.

And Jack wouldn't of been stupid enough to take on one of Official forces or affiliates(however who says Jack didn't fuck over one of their 'unofficial ones? or even the facilities that were crushed...were off the book?)

I am just saying anon Megas aren't to be trifled with Pre-Fall. Back then they were a HUGE problem for governments AND military(dem fucking PMCs and 'security' forces).
>>
>>38326037
Hmm, fair enough. So they don't really take down the whole thing, just an off-the-books division. Still badass, still allows for the corp to be flush with lewt, and it fits into the disjointed nature of your post-apoc planet too. I don't have to change anything anyway because I just used [REDACTED] at all sensitive parts.

Very good, now time to start brainstorming how Jack persuades a faggy pacifist to start designing military bunkers and work with a PMC.

Only the general remained
He knew he would die
But he would take as manny with him as he could.
When he was young he saw a strange magic ritual.
He was told never to do it.
He had no idea what it did but he knew it must be powerful
He removed his armor to prepare for the end
The enemy was breaking down the door
The general, last of the stormblessed reached down and started saying the magic incantations and doing the magic movements
His dick in hand he begun to jack it off furiously as he said "oh fuck, oh fuck yes"
He did not know what was magical about those words or this action but he could feel power building up inside him.
Like an explosion growing in strength.
The enemy stormed in through the broken door right as the building power became too much for the general to hold
"For the stormfather" the general screamed as an odd white mana shot out of him, hitting the face if the enemy leader.
Yes, the magic was done. He had honored his fallen brethren.

>Its...a very big project anon and its gonna take a long long time to complete.
We were gonna devote all our actions to it until the barbarians invaded, combined with the undead.

Fuck, we really just want to stop being invaded is all so we can do some warmode. I don't want to do warmode without a big industry to back it.
>>
>>38336282
And no, I don't want warmode from the get go if we don't get a super huge awesome industry and tech. And if we can't get that from the start, might as well play civ mode.
>>
>>38336201
For starters we could have thanked them every time we ask something. Even though they probably wouldn't need it we could have given flowers, food, blood or some gift basket. It's a matter of thought behind it. This person may have seen it all, but does not mean small things go unnoticed.

Maybe just ask then how their day was and so on, as well. They act like living people and it probably will help us to treat them like people.
>>
>>38336397
That is exactly what we did.

"Hello friends, we're in danger here, is it okay if we ask for some assistance"
"You were really hospitable to us, we're thankful about that. Is there anything we can pay you with?"
"We're offering you as much blood as you want, and some gifts of money. is that fine?"

We offered them everything with as much please and thanks as we could, but they wouldn't take any of it. Even as a gift.
>>
>>38336489
Starting out and during the deal making, yes.

What about all the questions afterwards? Normally that's been "Hey how aggressive are your people? Any chance we can use their angst in fights for us?"

"No?" Then not even a goodbye. We could have bought something and started with more small talk. Less walk up ask for something and then leave. Even if they don't need it, just give them something nice.
>>
>>38336895
Well I sure didn't do that. I made sure to specifically enter and greet with courtesy.
>>
>>38337041
Not everyone did though and that gained us negatives.

Hell our advise I've been working their asses off and we haven't done anything the thank them. Val got her brain necro-waved and we haven't even gone to her to say sorry for putting her life on the line.
>>
>>38337168
Well, we can do that once we come up with a plan. Not much time has passed and we're focused on saving our lives before niceties.

If you want, we can include that in our actions. We haven't done one yet because the situation is so dire we need to come up with the best plan feasable, and we can't do that with so many unknowns.

We're literally frozen in time until we get as much info as we can to come up with a plan to save our lives.
>>
>>38337222
And we're still nowhere closer to figuring out what the madness unleashed and how we should deal with it.
>>
Rolled 5 (1d100)

>>38337222
I'm down for what ever gets the ball rolling. I just wanted to add my 2 cents.

Well life is full of unknowns all we can do is trust our instinct and intuition. We got a threat in front and piss undead. We got Holy warriors helping and an army with faith in us.

I would say our actions are clear. Fight the bandits, protect what we can while the warriors work and repair damages, if we can. Otherwise scout the area while we fight to look for unknowns.

>>38336230
'Val just in case I never get the chance, thanks. I mean it, you done so much for me and I have yet to repay you in kind. So thank you.'

'Hey Richard, I know we haven't gotten much time to know each other. I just want to say thanks for helping out man.'
>>
>>38337512
>Fight the bandits, protect what we can while the warriors work and repair damages
By god if it were only that simple. . .I remember that one plan took days and we still got fucked in a lot of regards, there's just absolutely NOTHING we can leave out.

These aren't memor days where we could just say "attack" and hope the rolls are good

When the ball rolling a centemeter in the wrong direction could mean civ death, we REALLY need to play this smart.
>>
Anyway, let's work on the War Action for now.

Obviously we need to stop the Barbarians from Doubling Down and Regrouping, so let's have Evan use [Stand Still] on them to keep them in place.

Perhaps we then unload explosives and magic from our magi on them.

>>38337963
"Ja alright we'll bring back that other guy who made plan for you."

"Hm...barbarians at the gates. A far too familiar predicament but with other problem as well...less familiar."

"Barbarians are costly bastards to fight especially when they get stubborn. In which case under such a scenario your best bet is to hold out in your walls if you can."

"If you don't have the time your best bet is a surprise charge from your gates or a flanking assault when they are occupied. Possibly both."

"Few things are as nasty as getting your rear pushed in while your main forces are assaulting the walls and a surprise attack charge can possibly make it so you catch them with their pants down."

Use [Identify] on the Barbarian horde and watch out for any tricks and surprises they or their hero will use survey the battlefield from the highest tower, the Prophet will also link you up to troops on the field.

When you see something WARN the commander and let him know, so that he can respond to what they do!

Unfortunately their spell casters were a bit better off then that but it still wasn't what we would of expected thanks to them being distracted by the fortress in front of them.

The Commander lay crippled, his most loyal men dragging him off, as he watched the Barbarians assaulting the fortress where so men innocents were fending for their lives. He bled and clutched his sides in pain as he could only watch the angry horde clashed against the defenses chipping away at it. Such ferocity, such savagery, what can one man do against so much hate?

A horn blared, and the scouts cried out. Another army from the woods! The commander and all those who remained with him could only watch the biggest army he had ever seen in his life surrounding us from all sides. All turned to see spears and swords and shields pushing in from the forest. Their hearts fell, all seeing enemy reinforcements signaling the doom of his all his dreams. Men cried to their gods in woe. For all them, the thousands inside the wall, the soldiers outside, the commander, this was the doom.

He picked up his sword on his stretcher, ready to die with his men and accept it as what fate had decreed.

Then the scouts cry turned from one of fear, to one of hope.

"The flags the flags!"

The commander saw the flags. The barbarians had no flags.

This was not their army.

Out of this host of men and spears came forth something that stuck out like silver in the dirt, as men in shining armor on horses bearing shining armor. Whoever they were, they did not belong, but their flags he recognized instantly

The banners of King Masu. The riders approached the crippled commander and what men he had left

The commander tried to stand but the pain stopped him, he watched the figure clad in silver and runes approach him and the knights who walked by him

They stood there as the battle raged

Finally the commander spoke

"Who are you?"

The Knight didn't move, and spoke

"You're exactly like he showed me"

"Like who showed you?"

"Your prophet. He didn't tell you?"

"Tell me what?"

The Knight turned and extended his hand toward the masses of men still pouring in, their numbers easily outweighing all previous combatants on the fields

"That is the North. Every farmer who's lost a wife or a child picking up a spear and a helmet. Every lord and aristocrat who's had his own families killed or farms burned year after year from raids. Every one who could walk on two feet and carry a weapon. All of them.

They were sick of the Barbarian raids, never able to really oppose them, to pin them down in one place, and all of them marching here.

They had the numbers, they could have beaten them in open warfare, but the barbarians were too strong and fast, their rangers too good. They could never really pin them down.

But they heard that they were here, attacking with all of their leaders, when they heard you not only held your ground but where still fighting, when they heard they had a chance to end the raids once and for all they came here at once."

The commander saw, as some of his men couldn't but help stand in awe as entire kingdoms seemed to be pouring in.

He turned back to the knight who spoke

"You didn't answer my first question. Who are you?"

The Knight lifted his visor.

"I am Ragon, son of King Masu the First of His Name"

He told us about you, but he didn't tell us your name. About what you did for all the people here, making so many farms to give them food, giving them hope. That you had to do a terrible, awful thing that brought you great shame that would forever mark your name, even destroy it but you did it for one reason:

"My father was shocked. He realized that he was the one who ordered your death. That he was the one who was fooled by the lies told about you, a man who had no name, who undertook the greatest shame but for a true and just cause that he knew now.

The mountain that would provide saftey and security for the people here, bring and end to the wars and blight, that for ages would be a shining symbol peace, would be nothing more than a dream. A crushed and broken dream left for war and violence to continue forever.

And that this was what was fated if you were to fail in your task. That was when we awoke."

The Knight turned to the fortress, smirking at how small it was compared to the mountain.

>>38341445
"But what on earth are you doing with the North Men?"

"Ah, that. My father had been preparing the second army meant for you. Fueling all the forces of his kingdom, every single war machine and wizard and knight. He was so mad he wanted to throw everything, convincing all his allies and his brothers to rally their forces. Entire Kings where going to fight you, do you know that? He original meant to ride with the host itself.

We still rode out. But not in conquest, but in aid. He was worried about how he'd explain it to the others, but it seems even his allies had similar dreams.

Your prophet was a busy person. He once told me he had to speak to the dreams of millions. With the help of some crystals, a dozen kings was 'childsplay' to him.

I rode out ahead to meet you personally myself, when I ran into this army.

Fear not Commander, not only the North Rides for you, but the South Too."

The Prince suddenly bent forward and bowed, as did the knights next to him.

"On behalf of King Masu, First of His Name, of all the Kings of the South with hm we pledge our support to you and your noble cause. And we swear upon all the gods and men that we shall not leave not even should the forces of hell itself come until the Rock that lasts the Ages is complete."

His past wouldn't have been so fucked if it weren't for the hero choice made.

The crime was so heinous his name was purged and the many kingdoms were quite hostile.

The only real exceptions were the lower class and others not beholden to the rules of the kings and country.

Supposedly it was quite bad.

It actually wasn't entirely his fault. What happened is while he was on campgain he made a yet another 'odd' decision which supposedly broke the cammels back. He thought it was due to this and his other past choices that he never 'quite' got what he did wrong.

What actually happened was it was used as an excuse to get rid of him due to his power and skill. Those in power considered him too much a thread and his peers considered him too odd which made them hesitate.

So when it came down even his own family turned on him...or died.

That was when he fled with his forces who decided to go with. Once you get past his odd character he was quite the charismatic son of a bitch.

He still doesn't know the truth of why it all went down.

The reason was simple he was considered too much a threat by those in power.

The only one who knows the truth in his company is his adviser.
>>
Rolled 39 (1d100)

>>38341750
Basically those in power and those he 'threatened' arranged his down fall.

They set him up and his past actions against him to add fuel into the fire and made it look like he was actually guilty.

Only his Adviser Valeria does but she keeps quiet on it.

>>
Rolled 47 (1d100)

The rich and the powerful were the ones who were after him!

Why is simple.

He was a peerless warrior, a mighty general, and the son of a bitch was just too goddamn charismatic.

Sure he had is quirks and oddness but that wasn't enough for them to not bother going through with it.

So they did...completely and utterly destroyed him his very name and got his own family to turn on him.

Its a fuckhuge project that will take an ungodly amount of time.

But we also bloodied us. The commander is crippled and there are still 3 barbarian heroes and the battle is too even.

More good news is that reinforcements will be POURING forth and this time fighting the barbarians with us!

We need decisive plan to fight them until those reinforcements arrive. We've learned a lot about their composition, their forces, their siege equipment, but we're down our own forces and a commander.

Can we get another plan from you?"

"The biggest problem is the elites and their magic. They got a lot more of both then you and their remaining forces are quite hardened. Luckily though most of their heroes over extended themselves so they'll be suffering from the lashback and recovering. Problem is those who can go on forward."
>>
>>38344348
War Action + Action 1 + Action 2

Dwarves and Sappers keep up those wall defenses we need the fortress to hold! Runesmiths, can you chalk (literally) up any runes on the spot, anything on a piece of wood that can give our boys more magical protection against their enemy magic we need it badly.

Be sure that our Magi and Magical units are able to protect our heavy hitters and defenders on the walls we know they have magic and magi now we need to counter it.

Try and separate their forces, widen the breech. When one of their heroes is distanced from the others actviate [Stand Still], and keep them there by pouring oozes onto them. Then focus on separating and luring out the others away from their position.

Have our Night Knights try and move in, smashing their siege equipment or their casters before they can cast back and running away before they can be hurt. Coordinate with wizards, supress the casters and make them focus on them, then the knights move in and stab them while they are busy. Give them grenades, firebombs, anything that makes breaking them easier. No doubt they will be stalked or some other hero ability will be activated. Counter it! Weaken their powers by concentrating on them.

"Well, they're agreeable, but the people they work with are also trying to kill you. Also your trees seemed to hate them too."
>>
Rolled 23 (1d100)

>>38344911
"That was due to my influence," grumbled Ted.

"Hah they only tried to kill us because we are stuck working for the Commander," points out Ashley.
>>
>>38344883
Hey Genie. If we turn out to be right about something, or at least generally close, will you promise to confirm it?

>>
Rolled 2 (1d100)

>>38344945
....to a degree. Basically as I have done before.

>>38345010
Wait what?
>>
>>38345022
Okay, gimme a moment
>>
>>38345022
Ah, but first.

Talk to Veronica, but in private and alone.

"Veronica, this is very very important.

I need you to tell us something about Valeria's childhood. Before she became an overlord, before the trials. Something she and only she could truly know. Can you do this for us?"
>>
>>38345111
I'm generally asking this so we can flesh out their characters, I think the Centaur could be useful in this battle, being an assassin. Just need a story about her and Val so I can write some fluff.
>>
Rolled 39 (1d100)

>>38345111
"Hm...back when we were both kids?"

"Why do you need to know something like that?"

"Well there was the time we both learned to shoot bows together growing up. She is actually an amazing horse archer...but that wont work."

"hm...I don't know anything that only she would know. I may be her sister but that doesn't mean I know everything about her. We got separated when we got older as I went to become a knight and she went to more advanced schools."

"Don't tell her I told you she was a horse archer. As to be exact...she is also an amazing rider, but the kicker is she is no ordinary horse archer."

"She has been specially trained to handle working together with a centaur. As in...we learned it together at a young age we learned those hidden techniques."
>>
Rolled 47 (1d100)

>>38345209
"A centaur archer? That's incredible, you could not have figured out on your own. Did some one train ether of you?"
>>
>>38345340
Thats a good one. Need more info for the fluff, this could be good.

also gonna make a new thread soon, this ones about to go.
>>
Rolled 15 (1d100)

>>38345209
"Well besides that she also knows how to use a lance and spear. Don't think she bothered to learn how to use anything else besides a knife."

>>38345340
"Centuars are legendary for their archers and lancers. humans and others like them try to imitate our styles crudely by riding beasts. It cannot however compare to the real thing."

"I myself was trained in archery as well but thanks to my build I ended up proving to be especially fit for work as a lancer. Using my skills that I was able to negotiate a knighthood."

"Thanks to that I have been outfitted in good heavy armor a rarity among centaurs, noble title, and land."

"...At least before I lost it all, but my kind are in high demand everywhere I am gonna earn myself a better rep and then negotiate for better terms next time."

"I still got the armor though which is the most important part. If you thought ordinary knights were expensive...ain't nothing compared to centaur knight upkeep."

"Can't say its not worth it though precious few can withstand charging centaur knights riding down on them."

"Centaur knights are rather rare though due to how expensive we are."

"No. It was just me and my sister. We heard stories from the elders but others like us but they rarely started so young. It is quite tough to prove worthy of a centaur partnership we are after all no mere beasts of burden."

"...We did encounter a few others like yourself. Its what inspired me to be a knight I encountered a centaur knight with a partner. They were terrors on the battlefield."

"In fact it was thanks to their recommendation I became interested in it and they vouched for us."

"If you encounter others like us though...well centaurs alone are worthy and difficult adversaries, but if they have a partner you will have much more difficulty then you would expect."
>>
>>38345538

New therad, but let's stick in this one for a bit longer.
>>
Rolled 49 (1d100)

>>38345487
tfw players have wised up inregards to questioning different beings.

...I is in trouble now.

SO slow for some reason tho...
>>
>>38345487
"Thank you Veronica. You know, in this battle, anything can happen. . .well, I really really need a way to calm down and you know, maybe learn more about my subordinates in case something happens.

Can you tell us about your father? What was he like and what was it like living with him when both of you were kids? Where did you and Valeria grow up together anyhow? When did you first meet?

Ah, I hope you don't mind, maybe you could tell me a story about how you or her had your sights on anyone special during your teenage years. If I go I want to go thinking about something nice, so might as well fill my head with nice things."

Hmm, hard workaround but I need this info for the fluff post

>>38345487
Unrelated Genie but how much does a Truth Potion cost? I have a feeling I have a Holy Knight to talk to.
>>
>>38345628
Just stay with us genie, I just need a feeeew more questions so I can write a story. I need the potion for a certain holy knight and a Veronica assassin I can write about.
>>
Rolled 35 (1d100)

>>38345650
"father...well according to Mom he was the only one who didn't suck in the sack. Quite a problem by the way....learned that the hard way."

"When i was younger I thought it was gross...but she DID have a point. Well we don't really know a whole lot other then him and mom adventured together for a time."

"I don't really know him considering he died. I think his death might of been why mom stopped traveling...that or it was me and sis."

"We grew up in the plains home to human and centaur. Mom chose that place so we could both get to know both our peoples."

"That and according to her it was the favorite place she found while traveling with Dad. So she went back to it."

"We grew up together."

"Well...there was this one stud. THAT proved a rather big disappointment though really should of listened to my sis on that one. As for her...she always had a think for the nerdy types but they were hard to find where we came from. I personally preferred the opposite."

>>38345650
Not much. They are actually pretty common for obvious reasons.

Really though the expensive ones are magic in nature while the cheaper ones are a special concoction.

So depends on how much you wish to shell out but they are popular enough they don't get absurd prices.
>>
>>38345812
How about one strong enough to force someone like the most powerful knight or SHW or a REALLY strong person to tell the truth no matter what strength or magic?
>>
Rolled 57 (1d100)

>>38345860
Depends.

Some people or classes have a built in resistance.

Rule of thumb is stronger it is the more likely it will stick for a time.
>>
>>38345888
I don't need it to stick for a time, I need it to break resistances. Knight Paladin Chaptermaster tier resistances.
>>
Rolled 64 (1d100)

>>38345900
...that is gonna be one expensive ass potion or potent spell even then no promises.

Don't got any more questions for Veronica?
>>
>>38345924
No, but I do need that potion. Er, do we really have to use our Tab or can you give us a free sample, just this once pretty please?
>>
>>38345979
Just to show how powerful they are.
>>
Rolled 93 (1d100)

>>38345979
You DO have that one trade shop...I don't think they have a potion potent enough though.

and no free sample though I'll be nice and say it only cost you 2 due to it not be a full shipment.

That includes instant delivery.
>>
>>38346067
Do we have 2 to spare? We don't have anymore mercs to pay.
>>
Rolled 65 (1d100)

>>38346091
on tab yes you do.
>>
>>38346110
Bugger me, is that 2$ actual dollars? I can live with that.
>>
>>38346110
"Can you guys promise this will make Chaptermasters, Undead Liches and Overlords, and Monstrous Abomniations tell the truth?"
>>
Rolled 12 (1d100)

>>38346134
"Undead no they are immune to mind altering affects."

"Should work on chaptermasters Overlords is questionable they are notoriously strong minded and resistant. Should work on most of them though its potent enough. As for abominations...no idea. Those are a grab bag."
>>
>>38346170
"oh. Well, we need something for Overlords, anything for that?"
>>
Rolled 47 (1d100)

>>38346170
"I said most only the strongest of Overlords should be able to resist its affects."

"Its said those ones are outright immune to mental tampering."
>>
>>38346238
"Ain't nothing we can do then eh?

Say we knew where one was, can you give us something that can prove that person was 'the most strongest outright immune to truth potion'?"
>>
>>38346291
>>38346238
A lie detector perhaps, but only towards a specific target?
>>
Rolled 97 (1d100)

>>38346291
"It wouldn't work. The stronger overlords are often immune for some reason. Though tis harding say for sure which are and which are close."

"Even a weak overlord are quite resistant."
>>
>>38346326
"Well shit, what are you supposed to do when you think you know where one is but can't exactly be sure?"
>>
Rolled 18 (1d100)

>>38346352
"...I ain't ever heard of a powerful Overlord keeping low."

"They are rather obvious in their claimed domain."
>>
>>38346390
"What about a paralizing potion? Or one for us to make us know all truth when we hear it, regardless if the one talking knows if it's the truth."

Also we should have some civ currency, from the 100 I spent last game day
>>
>>38346390
"You would be surprised."

Hang on
>>
Rolled 31 (1d100)

>>38346437
"A zone of truth spell?"

"A detect truth?"

>>38346437
Wait I thought you spent that one on all those weird items and hard game currency?

Which you have btw including the later shipment.
>>
>>38346457
Yes, I think they're trying to get at detect truth.

Oftentimes on can fill in the truth as long as you know if someone's lying.
>>
>>38346520
I know, but just to be sure. Some people are really good liars.
>>
>>38346520
Also there will be a situation where we can't tell if they are lying.
>>
>>38346457
"Armor, how can we interoggate a lying overlord?"
>>
Rolled 47 (1d100)

>>38346670
"An Overlord why in the hell do you need to interrogate one of them you crazy?"

"Basically its just the usual...except be aware that Overlords are tough and stubborn. They don't break very easily...as for getting the truth out of them only time that comes out is if it profits them. Even if you put the screws to them."

"How the hell did you even manage to capture one of them? They tend to prefer death or manage escape."

"As in they can literally kill themselves with a thought. No idea how or why but its nearly impossible to capture an overlord unless they WANT to be."

"Not to mention they tend to be retrieved by their minions real damn quick so its unlikely they ever need to resort to killing themselves."
>>
>>38346781
"Let's just say we have our suspicions."
>>
Rolled 81 (1d100)

>>38346781
"What about some thing that can paralyze the body and mind. Until we are ready"
>>
Rolled 33 (1d100)

>>38346975
"A poison? Well yeah kinda dirty though."
>>
>>38347001
Wait. What the hell am I thinking. Of course even a weak truth potion will reveal something.

Let's buy one please
>>
Rolled 8 (1d100)

>>38347008
Easily acquired from store now what?

I mean its one of those instant type deals.
>>
>>38347043
Okay, gimme a sec. Gonna do some dialogue.
>>
Rolled 76 (1d100)

>>38347001
"Not a poison, but never mind. We will just take some strong truth serum. How dose it work? Can it be mixed with other fluids? How long dose it take to start working? Can it be detected in a drink?"

Also genie, who is around is as we talk to the merchant?
>>
>>38347043
>>38347051
And one more thing, can it be frozen and still work?
>>
>>38347043
Talk to Valeria in private. And grab some drinks, we need to relax a bit while the battle is out there. Might be the last time we get to drink in this fort.

Of course, she wouldn't notice the truth serum slipped into the ice

We talk for a while, casual conversation, loosening her up.

"You know Valeria, it might be possible we lose this battle. If that happens we might prepare an escape party, we're preparing our fastest horses.

I'm sure you of all people know how to ride right? I heard you were quite the swordsman on horseback from when you were young."
>>
Rolled 96 (1d100)

>>38347107
If its magic yes it should otherwise questionable.

>>38347051
"I don't know I wasn't the one who made it. So long as all of it is consumed it should work fine no matter what you mix it with unless its a concoction. Usually there is a short delay for magic and a longer one for the concoction. Yes it can be detected."
>>
Rolled 73 (1d100)

>>38347137
Should we roll for this? Also we have our armor on. We have gotten used to having it on most of the time.
>>
>>38347223
presumably the commander snuck back home, otherwise this is technically an NPC who is close to the higherups
>>
Rolled 28 (1d100)

>>38347137
Can't belief I forgot to write up stuff before posting how embarrassing...

She...didn't seem particularly thirsty except for the odd sip.

"I do indeed know how to ride...and I have no idea what your talking about with that. Yes i knew how to ride but not much else."
>>
>>38347270
"Oh, is that so? Surely you have some manner of riding skills that could be put to use? Just need to know these things ahead of time of course."
>>
Rolled 1 (1d100)

>>38347270
"Man I love horse riding, it's a shame I don't get the chance to now days, everything is so much crazier. Do you remember that time in the golem gardens, there was such peace there"

*take a sip of out own drink*
It would be rude for her not to take another sip.
We also keep a good eye on our own drink.
>>
Rolled 38 (1d100)

>>38347335
The rolls are not needed here right? Otherwise burn 2 fate points.
>>
>>38347335
Good thing this is conversation.

Also if it DOES count do >>38347345, this isn't the time or the place for a bad crit.
>>
>>38347345
. . .supporting those burns only if the crit counts
>>
Rolled 4 (1d100)

>>38347345
Yep burn 2. This is important because reasons. I'll restock our fate later.

Should I even be rolling on this?
>>
>>38347367
it's dialogue, so no not really.
>>
It feels wrong almost, not to roll. But ok.

We are waiting on you genie
>>
Rolled 67 (1d100)

>>38347345
Very well two fate points burnt.

>>38347416
Its useful if your trying to pull something during dialogue.

IN which case its sorta required. Also helps boost persuasiveness.
>>
Rolled 75 (1d100)

>>38347335
The wait is killing me
>>38347345
Burn them
>>
Rolled 19 (1d100)

>>38347335
You notice she grabs the drinks to refill where she continued with her back towards you while refilling it. While doing so she responded.

"...It was indeed oddly peaceful."
>>
Rolled 10 (1d100)

>>38347499
So why are you guys asking her this stuff for anyway?

And what are your recent thoughts hm?
>>
>>38347499
Was it ours drink or her drink she refilled?

Did she touch our drink?
>>
>>38347523
can I get an answer to >>38347322
>>
Rolled 19 (1d100)

>>38347533
She refilled them both.
>>
Rolled 64 (1d100)

>>38347322
With this she returns with both your drinks before settling down and taking a drink.

"I can indeed ride but that is about it."
>>
>>38347523
We are doing this because that not Val. Not our Val. Not any more. Let me explain but have this playing as soon as a make my next post. It will set the mood

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=K7VmOZ4Ppj8
>>
>>38347568
"Well, that's good at least. You know, I'm like a coin, I'm usually heads or tails when it comes to being right or wrong. But I think I know that city swagger when I see it. Why don't you tell me about the place you grew up in?"
>>
Rolled 72 (1d100)

>>38347605
>
"City swagger? I grew up in the deep country that is empty plains I only came to the cities later in life as my training required me to."

"Not much to tell really I grew up with my sister and mother. We had our fun playing in those big wide plains. Very easy to get lost in by the way but luckily we knew the locals and dangers so it wasn't too bad."
>>
>>38347570
Val our val. The true Val. died when she became overlord. There was no way she could overcome the trials on her own. That got me thinking.
It wasn't until your dice freak out that I figured it all out. I asked my self
Why would there be a lab, a library (most likly filled with reasurch notes), and a prison filled with monsters in stasis all right by each other?
What was there a fully stocked armory that didn't decay at all? And most importantly. Why was there no care taker?
Then I realized that the care taker was up here with us. Impersonating Val!

The monsters below woke up because there care taker was with us.

Val never said a word of good advice as an overlord except when she was mad at us.
She made the undead in our army follow her instead of us!
She is just waiting for the rock to be built then she will pull a cou and steal our soul.

So genie. Did I get it right?
>>
>>38347636
Welp. There debunks several of the theories I had.

I'll let Causality reveal the big thing we thought we struck gold on, hopefully we still get silver or at least bronze.
>>
Rolled 93 (1d100)

>>38347672
So...anything else?

As for if its true your just gonna have to wait and find out.
