Hey all. Feeling pretty good at the moment, so going to run another thread. I will have to take another break around 5:30, but every post counts right? Anyway, hope you all enjoy the thread.

>Fate Point:1
>Money: $90
>Equipment: Tier 1 Assault Rifle. Tier 1 Armor (+2 wounds). Tier 1 Pistol. Standard Ammo (4). Tier 1 Knife. Tier 1 Bandolier (2). (Carry Capacity, 1 Ammo, 1 Misc) Tier 0 Rucksack. (Carry Capacity 2.) Clothes (3). Blanket (2). Quality Lighter. Tier 1 Med-kit. Tier 2 Med-kit. Tier 1 Toolkit.

Your name is William. Your name is Billy. Your name is Will. You’ve been called Kid, New Guy, Pretty Thing and lots more that you don’t exactly remember. Most of those were ones that you didn’t like. Another thing that you didn’t like was getting beat. You used to get beat a lot, every day.

That changed though, once you got rescued by the Army. They came in and killed most of the men in The Compound. You killed The Leader as he begged for his life after always yelling that death was necessary. The Army captured you at first, but then they let you go. They fed you, they gave you clothes. Then they gave you a job.

At first you thought MMS was just The Compound again with less people. You’ve discovered it isn’t. Morrigan doesn’t hit you and told you a story about a girl so you understood why. Nem is nice, she likes to talk a lot but isn’t anything like The Leader. Cath is quiet, even quieter than you. She lifts with you though and seems to like you. Mary is a great cook and makes sure you eat enough while also giving you books and letting you be useful.
>>
>>38292615
Bellona and Sarah haven’t done much yet, though Bellona was kinda weird when you met her and Morrigan says you aren’t allowed to sleep under the blankets together even though it’s warm. Bellona did shoot all the bandits for you though, so she can’t be too bad. All in all…your life is pretty damn good.

Currently you’re asleep again, having just finished up sentry duty with Morrigan. Apparently that means you get to dream again, despite only having the one blanket on you.

What do you dream of?

>>
>>38292616
You dream of the last mission strangely enough, perhaps because it’s fresh on your mind. Certain parts aren’t important, walking down the hall, checking empty rooms. Other parts are, your knife, sliding home twice, Morrigan and Bellona finding some important looking stuff and finally your fall. Normally you’d be dead, if it was just you you’d be dead. The moment is clear in your dreams…right up until the man’s head explodes, Morrigan standing over you like…like…Morrigan, then turning to open fire on the rest of the bandits. Except this time you don’t get up. Morrigan instead reaches down and…

“Billy,” says Morrigan shaking you awake, “Get up, it’s time to go.”

Your eyes shoot open, still slightly twitching as you fully wake.

“Calm down there buddy,” says Morrigan, handing you some food as you wake up, “Just wake up and eat, we’re going to be headed out shortly.”

You nod at her, accepting the can of food and opening it. Cold it isn’t as good but you aren’t going to complain.

“Make sure you pass out some of your gear,” says Morrigan, nodding towards your rather large pile of stuff, “I don’t think you can carry it all without slowing us down.”

>Will currently has: Standard ammo (2), Tier 1 Medkit, Tier 2 Medkit, Tier 1 Toolkit, Food and Blankets (6).
>He has (6) slots to carry all of this in. There are (3) slots available from remaining team members to carry additional items in.

>>
>>38293520
As a back up. In case we lose the teir two or end up having to use it. I rather have more medical supplies than not enough if/when shit goes south.

As you finish your food, you take a look at all of the things you have to carry and realize that you have to make a horrible horrible choice. You need to leave the blankets behind.

Luckily you do have room for your blanket…actually you don’t. With your ammo safely stashed in the bandoliers, the two small items fitting in the extra pouches, you realize that with the bigger medkit and your food…you don’t quite have room for your blanket. It almost frightens you…until Morrigan sees you and comes over, taking it and putting it in her pack.

“You’re pretty attached to this stuff right?” she says.

“Yes…” you say, nodding your head.

“Well I can carry this for you,” she says, “Make sure you come get it when we get back to base.”

You nod your head, Bellona and Sarah each rolling up a blanket as well and putting them in their packs as you all finally pack up.

“Everyone ready?” says Morrigan as you heft your rucksack, everyone doing last checks of buckles and belts.

“Ready,” says Nem.

“Ready,” says Bellona.

You, Cath and Sarah all nod.

“Right then,” says Morrigan, opening the door and heading outside, “If we make decent time we can hit Doc’s with our earnings, might even get a bonus this time.”

“Bonus?” says Nem, “I might finally get a chance to get some better gear then.”

“Oy,” says Morrigan, “You aren’t thinking of mooching off me for Doc’s are you?”

“Maybe…” says Nem with a grin.

“Not a chance,” says Morrigan as Nem giggles, “I owe you five dollars’ worth and that’s it.”
>>
>>38294090
You listen as Nem and Morrigan go back and forth about Doc’s for a while, then quiet down.

You know it’s going to be a long walk back to Fort Riley even with breaks. Though you do keep an eye out as you walk, it’s not quite as hard as the march Morrigan put you through on the way here, you could probably take it a little easier and stay next to someone if you wanted.

>Walk next to Morrigan.
>Walk next to Nem.

Rail roaded? I was clamoring for it because people could die. But will in general seems like he'd take up the mechanic roll. He wants to be useful.

He sees fixing things - People/gear
As useful.

Not sure how difficult it would be to cross spec though.

>>
>>38294562
>>38294565
Point is moot. If its a modern ambulance it has an electric start. Those got EMPd at the start of the quest.
>>
>>38294480
That's not really impressive, though. The thing about bogs is that there's no air at the bottom, so there's little to no rusting/decomposition. I know the video you're referencing, and the tank was so well preserved that you could still see the German crosses on the side (Backstory was it was a captured T-34 that the Germans dumped in a bog as they were retreating). All they had to do was wash the mud off and change the oil, and it's good to go.
>>
>>38294629
>I know the video you're referencing
I wasn't referencing a video anon, a friend of mine was working with the guys who went around pulling the tanks out of bogs, they pulled out close to 20 last year, they managed to get 3 running, 2 SU-152's and a StuH 3, the rest either being sent on to collections to be restored or scraped for parts in other restorations.
>>
>>38294620
I don't think EMPs work the way you think they do. They're not an instant "break everything electric" button, like everything else involving electricity, they're fickle. They will fuck up complex circuits (PCBs, microchips, etc), but if they are not plugged in, they have a chance of surviving, and simpler circuits (Like, for instance Battery>Ignition>Starter) will be more or less unaffected.
>>
>>38294709
Yep, we've been over the science of EMPs before, which was why Guide said it wasn't an EMP but something that just killed all electronics, a lot more pervasive and impactful.
>>

As you walk, you decide to drop back a little bit and walk next to Sarah. Sarah is…well you aren’t really sure what Sarah is as you haven’t really interacted with her much. You know Morrigan can be loud and likes to smoke, Nem talks a lot and has lots of energy, Cath is quiet and works out, Mary is nice, cooks and reads and Bellona is a little weird and likes to look at you a lot.

Sarah is…well Sarah is quiet. You haven’t really seen or heard her do much else besides stay behind her rifle.

As you walk beside her, she glances over at you, but doesn’t say anything at first.

“You’re…Billy right?” she finally says, looking over at you once more.

“Yes,” you say, “sometimes Will.”

Sarah nods at that, “It’s nice to meet you Will,” she says.

There’s another period of silence as you continue to walk together.

“So uh…” Sarah says, “How’d you start working with Morrigan and the others?”

“Army saved me and then brought me here,” you say, “said I’d be good at it.”

“Oh…” says Sarah once again, before falling silent.

You continue walking like that for quite some time, covering ground steadily.

Did you have anything you wanted to ask Sarah?

>Ask her if she has any other names.

We aren't acting like a very traumatized character, though I suppose it's more IC to play the, "I just assumed this was normal what do you mean it isn't" now that I think of it that really does make for a good character and story, but the occasional PTSD can't hurt.

“Do you have any other names?” you ask Sarah as you walk.

“W-what?” she says, turning to you with surprise.

“Do you have any other names?” you say again, “Morrigan said Billy was my “handle” when I said I didn’t have one.”

“O-oh…” she says, “Well…I guess…Skade. I had a few guys call me that back when I was with my other unit.”

“Is that where you got your rifle?” you ask, checking out the weapon. It wasn’t like Nem’s, you had seen a few before but the man at The Compound always wanted to work on his himself, so you didn’t touch them.

“Yeah,” says Sarah in reply, “I learned to shoot myself…then I got this one from them.”

“Why are you here then?” you ask her.

“Ah…” says Sarah, but then is silent and doesn’t reply.

You don’t ask her again, you’re still a little unsure on the whole question asking thing, Mary and Morrigan seem to be ok, but you don’t know about others.

“They got killed,” Sarah finally says, “So…I joined up here.”

You nod at Sarah, she doesn’t seem like she wants to talk anymore.

For the rest of the trip there’s mostly quiet, Nem and Morrigan talking occasionally and Cath giving one of her small body signs, but other than that not much. Bellona doesn’t even look at you all that much for once. You stop a few times to rest and once to eat, but it’s still a little bit late when you get back to Fort Riley.

Walking in the front of the building you don’t see Mary for once, which is slightly confusing.

“Mary!” yells Morrigan, as she starts to head to the back room “We’re back! Nobody died!”

“Good!” you hear coming from upstairs, “I’ll be down in a minute!”

“Who’s that?” asks Bellona, looking upstairs.

“Mary,” says Morrigan, turning to look at Bellona, “is Mary. I suggest you don’t mess with her.”

Bellona looks slightly off put by the reply, but nods in response. With that everyone else walks into the armory, Nem and Morrigan unloading themselves quickly.

“We’re going to go get paid,” says Morrigan, “You guys can clean up.”

You just nod, Cath doing so as well as you first unload the things in your pack and set them in your locker. You see why they’re so big now, you’re starting to get stuff and it’s a handy place to put it. Bellona and Sarah have taken off their things as well, though they look at you and Cath a little strangely as you start to clean the gear.

“Do you always do this?” asks Bellona as you start to unload her LMG.

“Yes,” you reply, Cath head bobbing slightly, “useful.”

“Ok then,” says Bellona, “Can’t say I’d do a whole lot better.” With that she simply leans back against the wall as you and Cath go through the weapons and armor.

“I’d like to do my rifle if that’s ok…” says Sarah, though she doesn’t seem to care that much about her armor.

Cath just nods, with you and her quickly going through the weapons that have been fired and cleaning up the armor. Sarah checked her own rifle, though it didn’t need much. As the four of you walk out of the armory you find Mary once again at her desk, her hair a little damp as she looks up at you.

“Hello,” she says, “Morrigan and Nem aren’t back yet, I doubt it will be soon either, the military is a bit tougher with the money.”

“So…what do we do?” asks Bellona.

“I can show you to your rooms if you’d like,” says Mary, folding her book up, “I think you’ll be staying here at least a little while.”

“That would be nice…” says Bellona, her eyes glancing at you.

“Yes please,” says Sarah, who you think is a little less used to walking so far.

“Cath, are you going to go somewhere?” asks Mary.

Cath nods yes, then you see one of her eyes quirk at you.

“Will, are you doing something?” asks Mary.

“I’m going with Cath,” you say, to which Mary nods and you see Bellona’s eye twitch a little.

“Ok,” says Mary, waving as you follow Cath out the door, “Be back soon though, Morrigan’s going to head to Doc’s and I don’t want her to be alone with Nem!”

Cath raises her hand at Mary like she normally does, the door shutting behind the two of you as you head out into town. Cath is of course silent as you walk, but you seem to get a…well you think perhaps her step is a little lighter than normal. As you follow her, she leads you to a part of town that you haven’t been to yet, really the last part of town you haven’t been to yet.

There seem to be not that many people around, it is starting to get dark. Cath seems to know where she’s going though, so you follow her until she leads you up to another building. This one is a little small, but there’s a sign hanging up above the door. Well, it’s just a red cross, but it’s a sign.

Cath nods at the sign like it’s important, so you nod back.

“Doctor,” she says in the quiet voice she uses.

Ah, so that’s why she brought you here.

Cath opens the door, a small bell ringing as the two of you step inside.
>>
>>38297309
My guess with Bell is she's looking for a replacement for the little brother she lost many years ago. He too, was a simple, naive boy who didn't know much about the world and how it worked. But he loved his big sis and when the world went to shit, all the two of them had was each other. He was taken and/or killed by bad men at some point, which really affected her.

What she misses the most is when her brother would snuggle beside her when he got sleepy or cold

Cath shakes her head no and then nods at you.

“Oh, is he the one I’ve heard about?” says the man, then holds out his hand, “nice to meet you, I’m Doctor Smith, I run the town clinic. You can call me Doc if you like, some people do.”

“Will,” you say, looking at his hand a little confusedly before looking back up to his face. “Are you like the other Doc?” you ask him, slightly confused as to the distinction.

He chuckles a bit, “In a way, I guess,” he says, rubbing his hair with his other hand as he lowers the first, “We both bring comfort to people, I do it through healing and he does it through libations. I guess you can call me Doc Smith instead, makes it easier.”

You aren’t really sure what “libations” are, but nod in response to him.

It’s here that Cath surprises you by speaking up. “Medic,” she says, nodding at you as she draws both of your attention’s, “teach?”

“Oh!” says Doc Smith, turning back to you, “is that why you brought him here?”

Cath nods, then turns to you. “Learn,” she says, nodding back to Doc Smith.

“So you’re the team medic now huh?” asks Doc Smith, to which you shrug, “Well Cath says you are, I believe her.”

You just nod your head. If Cath thinks so it’s probably true, you aren’t sure what a medic is.

“Well, it’s a little late for me to teach you anything today,” he says, “But how much do you know already?”

“I’ve read a book…” you say in reply, shrugging, “Haven’t helped anyone.”

Cath nods in response.

“Well keep Morrigan calm,” he says, “I don’t need another night trying to stitch her head up after a fight.

Cath nods again and then turns to leave, so you follow her.

“Stop by any time during the day Will,” he calls after you, “The world could always use another doctor.”

As the door closes behind you, Cath heads back towards MMS, moving a bit faster than when you came here probably to make it back in time to meet Morrigan and Nem.

Considering the downtime we've had, there's more than enough time to be alone during the day when there are no missions.

Besides, we need to keep Morrigan out of trouble, and we have a unique way of throwing her for a loop with our questions.

No real reason to study at home either, we particularly need hands-on teaching from Doc Smith, and we can't do anything about that today.

“Ok,” you say to Morrigan, who nods in response.

“Hurry up then,” she says, “Mary has your money.”

You nod, Cath following you inside to also get her money.

Mary is at her desk, several piles of money still on top of it.

“Ah, there you are,” she says, smiling at you, “Did you get what you needed done?”

Cath nods, picking up one of the two piles. You pick up the other one, looking at it.

“Your cut is $150,” she says, “I needed to take a little more since we’re having more people over, so the company’s getting two shares instead of one.”

You nod, unsure as to what exactly that mean, only knowing that it’s more money than you’ve ever had before.

>Current money: $240.

You look around as Cath turns for the door.

“Where’s Sarah?” you ask Mary.

“She went upstairs,” Mary replies, “She said she was tired.”

“Isn’t she coming?” you ask. You’ve always gone to Doc’s after the mission as a group.

“I don’t think so Will,” says Mary, “You can go check if you want.”

You nod, turning to head up the stairs.

“Don’t dawdle,” says Mary, “Morrigan will get cranky.”

You head up the stairs faster at that, you don’t want to make Morrigan cranky.

You turn down the hall where Mary’s room is, yours is already full. By the simple fact that only one door besides Mary’s is closed, you determine which room is Sarah’s.

You look at the door, then knock on it softly.

“Sarah?” you call out. You wait a few seconds, but don’t get a response. Then you try again. When you still don’t get a response, you touch the knob, but it seems to be locked. Pressing your ear to the door, you hear the soft sound of breathing. She might be asleep already.

Deciding that there isn’t anything you can do about it now, you head back downstairs.

“No luck?” asks Mary.

“Asleep,” you say, following Cath as she heads out the door with you.

“Behave!” calls Mary after you.

“About time,” says Morrigan as the two of you finally step outside, “I was about to leave without you.”

You nod at that. “Sorry,” you say.

“Ah, it’s fine,” says Morrigan, her face lightening a little, “We’ve still got plenty of time to get shitfaced.”

It’s with that confusing sentence that the five of you head for Doc’s, Cath and Bellona on either side of you.

Stepping inside, you see that it’s a little busier than normal, a few more men crowded around the tables, though there’s still room at the bar. Morrigan heads directly for it, slapping some money down on top of it.

“Give us the bottle Doc,” she says, “We had a good run.”

“Roger,” he says, pulling out a brown filled bottle and two glasses, setting it between Nem and Morrigan.

“Cath?” he asks as she sits next to Morrigan, with you climbing up beside her and Bellona on your other side.

Cath nods as she settles in, Doc quickly pouring her a small glass full of the clear liquid.

“Anything for you this time Billy boy?” he asks you. You remember that Nem said you should probably buy something from him besides water.

Yes, but what people don't seem to understand is that when the creative train gets derailed; it can take a long time, if ever, to get back to a project. Look at PapaN! with Zombie Witch, we waited well over a year and a couple of other quests run by him to get back to that.

Plus, for Guide who just recently dropped HPQ, it puts a lot of undue pressure on him if every Merc Quest thread HPQ is brought up; something that he clearly isn't interested in.

tl;dr HPQ isn't coming back for a long time; people should stop bringing it up and wait patiently.

How new are you? Guide isn't a bitch that would just disappear without a word unlike a lot of the QMs that have ran here.
>>
>>38302062
It usually mean's we'll be getting a large update, and since this is on page 10, the last one as well.

Not too concerned, he's been running for almost 7 hours which is fine by me.
>>
>>38302062
People like to think QMs are as sensitive as they are. This wasn't even a shit storm, just a small shit drizzle. Only one poor anon got shit in his coffee, could've been a lot worse.
>>
>>38302063
I'm doing other shit at the moment, so I can wait.
>>
Remember this?

>>30988929
>Thats how it always starts. The consensus, the fun times, the "glory days" of the thread. Then one day you wake up and everyone is a shit poster and qtg has shit on everything and you only follow the quest because you were there in thread one and you need to finish what you started.
>>
>>38302106
This quest is the first guide thing i've read, and tg has pretty much destroyed my faith in humanity otherwise.
>>
>>38302110
Eh, i suppose an hour really isn't that long when you're writing something like this.
>>
>>38302133
Don't fuckin' jinx it. It's obvious it's just a few bad apples this time around but it's not nearly as bad as some le ebin raid.
>>
>>38302135
Well now you know better. Live & learn and all that other shit.
>>
>>38302190
Ahh my bad. I was just reading HPQ and in thread two we had a similar storm.
>>
>>38302133
>a small argument consisting of only a few people
>the glory days are over
>everyone is a shit poster
>only follow the quest because you were there in thread one

“I’ll have some of that,” you say pointing at Cath’s drink.

“Nice choice my man,” says Doc, taking the bottle he poured for Cath and doing the same for you. As he sets down the bottle in between the two of you, your stomach gurgles.

“Do you have food?” you ask him, realizing how hungry you are.

“Of course,” says Doc in the big booming voice of his, “How about some brisket, that sound good to you?”

You nod, looking down at the glass Doc gave you and lifting it to your lips. Cath appears to be watching you as you do so. As the liquid slides down your throat, you feel a slight warmth in it filling your stomach as it finishes.

Cath looks at you, clearly asking what you thought.

“Good,” you say, nodding, taking another sip.

“I’ll have some as well,” Bellona says, to which Doc nods and pulls out another bottle, pouring her some.

“You be careful down there Will,” says Morrigan, her and Nem having already gone through half of the brown liquid in their bottle, “Doc’s stuff is smooth but it can kick you in the ass.”

You look down at the bottle of clear liquid, wondering how it’s supposed to get up and kick you in the butt. It doesn’t take long for Doc to come back with your food, a big sandwich piled high with meat. As you take your first bite, your eyes light up. It’s good, really good.

“Hahaha,” laughs Morrigan, a second bottle already between her and Nem, “Doc makes some good food, doesn’t he Will? You nod, ignoring any attempts at conversation as you try to savor the sandwich at the same time you wolf it down. You also keep drinking the clear stuff, it’s different than water but still nice and you like the warmth in your stomach.

It only takes you a little bit to finish your sandwich, having drank another glass of the clear liquid and leaving it empty. As you look over to the bottle Doc put between you and Cath Bellona leans her bottle over and pours you some more.

“Here you go Will,” she says with a smile on her face, “between friends.” You glance over as you hear Cath grunt, drawing your attention as she drinks the rest of the glass she has and looks at Bellona.

Bellona smiles back at her taking her own glass and slowly downing it, staring right back at Cath. You feel like you’re missing something, so you look down and pick up your glass, downing it as well.

You hear Nem giggle and look over at where her and Morrigan are already through the first bottle and part of another.

“Look,” she says as both Bellona and Nem pour you another glass, then themselves, “Whoever lasts longest gets to carry Will home.”

“Ten on Cath,” says Morrigan, taking another drink.

“Ten on Bell,” says Nem, both of them watching intently as both Bellona and Cath take another drink, with you following.

After finishing both bottles and another two, Bellona and Cath are both leaning against you, clearly not very stable. You however, simply have a strange buzz in your head as you finish off the last of the clear liquid.

“Izz nofare…” says Bellona, who’s arm is wrapped around your shoulder, “why you so…so…” her words trail off. She hasn’t been making much sense for about half an hour.

Cath is in a similar state, making soft grumbling noises as she leans against you.

“Holy shit,” says Morrigan, a third bottle empty between her and Nem, “How’s he still up?”

“He’s got two livers,” says Nem, both her and Morrigan wobbling slightly as well, “and a hollow leg.”

“Yeah,” says Morrigan, slamming some money down on the bar as she stands and wobbles a little bit, “Remind me not…to drink with Will.”

“Right,” says Nem, who is mostly still standing straight but oddly peppy.

“Will, you get to carry them home,” says Morrigan, fumbling with a cigarette, “You got em drunk.”

You nod to Morrigan, wondering what to do as both Cath and Bellona don’t look like they want to move.

“Here,” says Morrigan, sliding Bellona’s arm off of you, “Now stand up with Cath.”

You nod, managing to get Cath to stand upright even as she clings to your shoulder, your arm around her waist. It’s a little awkward since she’s taller than you, but you manage.

“Now…the other one…” says Morrigan, getting a little more wobbly herself. You turn just in time to have Morrigan nearly slam Belllona into you, though the pale woman doesn’t do anything but giggle.

“So…strong,” she says, her head leaning against you as you wrap your other arm around her waist.

“Come on,” says Morrigan, weaving towards the door, “Gotta get home or Mary will kick my ass.”

Guide is the best.

>>38302278
I regret nothing.
>>
>>38302297
You nod, struggling a little under the combined weight of the two women since they don’t seem to be able to support themselves very well. Somehow you make it out the door, both Bellona and Cath only managing to keep going because they’re holding on to you.

“Fuck Billy,” says Morrigan, her words sounding woozy, “Are you even drunk?”

“Don’t know,” you say, only the pleasant buzz in your head.

“Lucky bastard,” says Morrigan, “Bet you don’t even get a hangover in the morning.”

You blink, unsure as to what Morrigan means, but you get distracted as Bellona nearly stumbles and falls, causing you to have to stop and help her upright.

She giggles. “Such a…good boy,” she says, nuzzling her head against your cheek. You try to move away, only to have Cath do the same.

“Hey, hey,” says Morrigan, clearly very wobbly by now, “None of that. None of that until Will grows up.”

“But he’s so…so…,” Bellona falls silent again as you keep walking, almost back to MMS.

It takes you nearly twice the time it usually does, but you eventually make it back, Morrigan leading the way as she opens the door.

“Mary, Mary you should’ve seen it!” she says grandly as you struggle in behind her a giggling Nem behind you, “Will drunk like a fucking fish! Two whole bottles of Doc’s good stuff by himself!”

“What the?!” says Mary as she sees you come in, standing and moving towards you “Morrigan why did you let them get like that!”

“I didn’t do nothing!” says Morrigan, “Bell and Cath did it too themselves, trying to get Will drunk.”

“Still, that’s no excuse,” says Mary, coming to grab Bellona, “You’re supposed to be the leader.”

“I got plenty of drunk myself,” says Morrigan, following Nem up the stairs as Mary pulls Bellona away from you, “good example.”

“That’s not what I…ugh,” says Mary as Morrigan disappears upstairs, “Come on Will, you take Cath to her room, I’ve got Bell.”

“Nooooo….” Cries Bellona sadly, her hand making grabbing noises at you as Mary hauls her upstairs, “WannaWill to take me…” She subsides once Mary starts up the stairs, her feet barely making it as they go.

You look over at Cath who has a silly grin on her face as you start up the stairs behind Mary and Bellona, who’s mostly subsided into muted grumbles.

It is now official cannon that MC is immune to alcohol, i love this story so damn much.

As you make it up the stairs and towards Cath’s room, she stumbles, pushing you against the wall. You land heavily, letting out an oof as Cath leans against you, her chest pressing up against you as she leans against you.

“Silly Will,” you hear her say, her voice soft and stumbling, “taking care…of me, don’t even….” You look up at her, her eyes a little bleary but focused on yours.

“What?” you ask her.

“Silly,” she says again, her forehead resting against yours in a way that’s odd to you, “Don’t even…notice…them…” It’s here that Cath’s head slips off of yours, coming to rest on your shoulder as a soft snore comes from her.

You stand there, a little confused as to what just happened.

“Will?” calls Mary, poking her head around the corner, “Are you ok?”

“Ah…yes,” you say, shifting your grip so that you can carry Cath into her room, “I’m ok.”

“Alright,” says Mary, “Get some sleep.”

You nod, managing to get your arm under Cath’s once more as you stumble into her room, nearly falling as she slips into bed. You hear her mumble something as you cover her with her blanket, but you can’t quite make it out.

Going over to your room, you realize that you forgot your blanket downstairs. Glancing at the bed, you decide that maybe you can give it a shot. Picking up your spare blanket and your pillow, you gingerly crawl onto the strange surface, covering yourself up.

As you try to get comfortable, the warmth of your stomach lulling you to sleep, you wonder if perhaps things will continue to get better for you like they have these past couple weeks.
