Meanwhile, you glance over to the opposing end of the field, where you see the two idols Overstrike Entertainment was sending in. One girl looked normal enough, but you could see her partner was wielding two oversized augmetic arms, making her look more like a gorilla than a girl.

"Hoo boy, that looks a bit rough." Cole frowns. "Want me to fry her?"

You of course had to disclose that Cole was genemodded, which was why Overstrike was allowed to bring in an auged idol. However, you never had to tell them HOW powerful Cole was, and you were sure with her development, she'd be significantly more powerful than anybody other genemodded girl, since it was a new product so few girls would really be used to them yet.

You can swear the entire stadium collectively winced in pain at the sight. The auged girl topples back to the ground, completely out cold while the volleyball ricochets off her face and drops onto the sand, her teammate too bewildered to even attempt a save.

The stadium falls into silence as medics rush over, immediately tending to the fallen girl.

"Um, I think I might have overdid it." Julie frowned.

"Ah, she'll be fine." Cole shrugs.

The referee and Overstrike producer rush forward and there's a lot of quick, whispered conversation. The medic just solemnly shakes his head as the unconscious girl is carted off. The referee then steps forward.

"Since one the members of the Overstrike team is unable to compete, Overstrike is automatically disqualified. Win goes to Clover Entertainment!"

There's a loud cheer, both for Julie and Cole. You can swear you can hear a section of the crowd chanting "TUNNEL SNAKES RULE!" over and over. You're not sure if it's your imagination or not, but the flush in Cole's face suggest she's heard it as well.

"Well... I guess that's one way to end a match." Jenner blinks.

"Poor girl." Lillith shakes her head. "She never stood a chance."

The goal was to get your idol across the finish line first. Didn't matter which idol in your team crossed as long as they did it first.

Rochelle and Morgan then line up along with all of the other opposing idols at the edge of the pool. Of course, there's a brief lull to allow the spectators to get a good look at the idols in their swimwear. Gotta rake in those views, after all. However, the referees finally motion that the race is about to begin, and start counting down...

Rochelle and Morgan get a decent start when the whistle blows, diving straight into the water with well drilled precision and grace. Immediately, they start making beelines for their respective routes, but they have to compete for space with the rest of the idols. Morgan's route gets rather crowded with many idols looking to take the easy route, though there were a few going head to head with Rochelle in the center route.

Even though she has to handle very rough waters, Rochelle seems to be doing rather well in the race, gaining quite a bit of a lead between herself and the rest of the idols despite having to swim against a powerful current. Those lessons by the Captain were certainly paying off.

However, Morgan looked to be struggling, mainly because the rest of the idols were crowding around her, inadvertently penning her in and blocking her progress. You can see Morgan desperately trying to find a gap in the swarm around her.

You see Morgan look around for a bit before taking a deep breath and diving down below the surface of the water. In the chaos of the blob of swimmers, nobody notices Morgan's sudden disappearance. You suppose that Morgan was intending to go under the main blob of swimmers so she wouldn't have to fight her way through them. With a few powerful strokes, Morgan finally manages to swim under the leaders of the group and surfaces right in front of them, causing the blob to nearly pile up in surprise at her sudden appearance. Now in the lead, Morgan starts picking up the pace.

Meanwhile, Rochelle was in the home stretch, but was fighting her way through an extremely tough current. Her rivals were now noticeably gaining ground on her.

With a burst of hidden strength, Rochelle roars as she pushes her way through the current, shooting forward like a speedboat as opposed to a swimmer. The other idols behind her were practically left in the dust as she shoots through the water, faster than even Morgan can catch up to. In just seconds, Rochelle manages to cross the finish line, winning the contest.

"AND WE HAVE A WINNER!" The announcer bellows to the cheers of the stadium.

Rochelle stands up in the shallows of the pool and just looks around dumbfounded, as if she didn't even know what had just happened. Morgan comes in at a distant second and tacklehugs Rochelle from behind.

"You did it!" Morgan says cheerfully.

"I... I did!" Realization finally seems to catch up to Rochelle. "Holy shit!"
