Nobody tries to talk to you or attack on the way home, leaving you with your thoughts. You can’t get over how awkward Orias was – it’s like he could barely speak, but when he did, he was all super intense and talked at you instead of to you. It was way weird.

Him being a demon doesn’t really explain it. You don’t think demonishness includes the power of being bad with social situations. That’s just people stuff.

Maybe he’s just weird around you because you’re the Imperiate. Everybody who’s a member of your mom’s fan club can’t bend over backwards fast enough for you. Like Ranthix. Except he doesn’t really bend over backwards so much. It’s more like he tries to break your back by making you bend over backwards. But Xathix and Xanissil, they do the backwards bending thing.

It’s a topic for another day. You come back home, let Reeber run free, and wind up in your room. You kick off your shoes and drop your glamors. Looking at the time, you find it’s not that late.

You could probably get some packing done for tomorrow’s trip. It’s like what, three days? You wonder if Derek’s bringing food. You also wonder if you’re actually going to help him. You have to admit, you don’t actually have that clear of an idea who you’re helping here. Maybe you should talk to somebody.

>Pack stuff (?)
>Talk to somebody about the whole knight thing (?)
>The whole deal is pretty harsh. Maybe taking Rowan with you isn’t the best idea.
>If you’re going, Ro can go. She’s been doing this kind of crap since she turned twelve.
>Call Derek and tell him about Jaegerstroud. You’re not the kind of person who goes behind backs.
>Jaegerstroud said the Eclipse have been watching you for a long time – what if they know what happened to Dad? Better keep quiet for now about the whole thing.

How else are we going to establish that the new imperiate commands legions of demons and angels than to bring both on the mission in which she disposes of the mage who displeased her?

I'm telling you, Orias is our father and that's why he's acting all awkward.

Possible he's just not showing his shadow shit, or he's not even a full demon
>>
Fuck yes Hellborn!

I'm not sure we're doing it for the money (and chances of violent dismemberment at our hands) anymore
>Other (?)
Talk to Cassandra or Isaac (or both) about the whole civil war stuff again, bringing up the new stuff we've been told, while keeping where and from whom we heard it vague.

Vague means wave.

>Pack stuff (?)
Gear up for combat. Chainmail, Zelathis, protection charm, the works. Maybe some of your lighter guns as well.
Basic survival gear as well. If things go to shit, have all the stuff necessary to survive in the wilderness. Knife, compass, camping stove, water purification tablets, and all the other odds and ends needed.

>Talk to somebody about the whole knight thing (?)
Try and get a hold of Mr Crowther. Maybe he has a better understanding of the politics of this situation. Maybe he had a very good reason to tell Derek to go fuck a duck in regards to the flag.

>If you’re going, Ro can go. She’s been doing this kind of crap since she turned twelve.

>Jaegerstroud said the Eclipse have been watching you for a long time – what if they know what happened to Dad? Better keep quiet for now about the whole thing.
Though let's not take Jaegerstroud's word at face value. Maybe she don't know Jack and she's just trying to say the right thing to ensure that the fledgling Imperiate does what she's told.

You could call Ranthix, but you decide against it. He has ulterior motives for telling you stuff, namely getting you to be super strong or whatever. You decide instead to talk to Rowan. She’s been doing this kind of thing longer than you have, and also she’s coming along. She knows what’s up.

You drop into Rowan’s room, and find her at her desk for once, reading a book. You almost didn’t realize she had a desk – she’s usually snuggled up on her bed or whatever. You knock on the frame to get her attention. “Hey, you have a second?”

“Sure,” she says, still searching her text. It’s a pretty big book with scrawling, painfully small font. “What’s up?”

You come in, carefully closing the door behind you. You don’t want anybody eavesdropping. “I ran into an Eclipse person on the way to meet Orias,” you say.

That gets her attention. She looks up from the book. “Did he fight you?”

You snort. “She wasn’t crazy,” you say. You proceed to tell her the story.

“That’s scary,” Ro says, frowning.

“I don’t know. It’s kind of sketchy,” you say. “Are you still on board? I mean, I kind of want the landwell or… whatever. But if people are going to be dying or whatever, I don’t know if you want to be involved.”

Rowan rolls her eyes. “They’re having a war. If Frederick’s people don’t die doing this, they’ll just die some other way,” she says, surprising you with her callousness. “If the knight lady was telling the truth, it’s not like our involvement will change anything either way.”

“That’s a hardcore way of looking at it,” you observe.
>>

“Sierra, please. I know you have this idea of me as some kind of angel perfect person, but I am a deputy marshal. You don’t work for Mr. Isaac Hallow without getting your hands dirty.”

Isaac does manage to get involved in some strange things. “Well, then I’m happy you’re coming along. Anyway, so what do you think about the whole thing? I mean, treachery is pretty bad I guess, but the Eclipse can pay up, and you know, maybe they know something about what happened to my dad. All I know is that he left and didn’t come back.”

Rowan laces her fingers behind her head and leans back in her chair. “I don’t know. I guess we have to talk to Derek about it. Like, not about the Eclipse going behind his back, but about why he’s fighting. Maybe we can’t have the big picture, but you could at least know who you’re working for. If he’s just a fanatic, I think it’ll show. At that point, it all comes down to doing what you feel is right,” she tells you.

That seems like good advice.

>Sounds good to me.
>So have you ever been off of Earth before? I mean, I guess you said you went to heaven.
>I wish I knew more about the Eclipse. They seem like a big deal where they’re from.
>All right. Well I got to go pack stuff for tomorrow. You think I need to bring snacks?
>You think it’s a good idea to ask Moriah’s dad about this? I’d ask Isaac, but I think it’d just worry him if he saw I was getting up to intrigue again.

You know, as long as we're talking to Rowan we might want to bring up Orias.

I'm pretty sure he doesn't know about us and the Hallows, so who knows how he's going to react to Ro.
>>
>>38226504
>Sounds good to me.
>Oh by the way Mr. Spaghetti Demon is coming.

“That sounds good. Except you make it sound a lot easier when you talk about it,” you say.

Ro laughs. “Life’s only complicated as you make it, no matter how pointy your toes are,” she says.

You hastily shift your feet so your claws are no longer in her view. “You’re freaking weird sometimes,” you say, scowling at her.

“Deal with it,” Ro says, making a face.

“Whatever. Anyway, you think it’s a good idea to talk to Moriah’s dad? I mean, I’d ask Isaac, but he’d probably just get worried if he found out I was getting up to intrigue again.”

“I don’t know,” says Ro. “He is the Magister, so he knows all about things I’ve never heard of. If you want the educated opinion, he probably has one. I don’t know how he would react, though. Moriah’s dad is weirder than you think I am.”

“We’ll see if I call him or not,” you say noncommittally.

“So we’re leaving tomorrow at six, right?”

“Yep,” you say. “It’s kind of weird though, going to another world or plane or whatever. I mean, I guess I went to that goblin warren thing, but that was just some raunchy cave someplace, even if it was another plane. You told Vik you went to heaven one time, right? You ever go anywhere else?””

“Not really,” says Rowan. “Dad takes me on trips sometimes to go help people outside of California. Like once we went to Mexico to help a friend of his. We always stay on Earth, though.”

“Don’t you have like, cousins and stuff though?”

“Dad had an older brother,” says Rowan, “but they had different fathers. Uncle Harvey was one-hundred percent mortal. He died a really, really long time ago, even before Mom was born. All my uncle’s kids are dead or super old, and even their kids are old, so I don’t really know them very well.”
>>
>>38228077

"I didn't know Isaac had a brother," you say.

"He doesn't talk about him very often," Rowan says, fiddling with her nails.

You sense this is a delicate topic. "So uh. What about the angelic half of your family?”

Ro shrugs. “There was a weird feud between Grandpa Hallow his family. I think they ostracized him for running off with a mortal girl. The heaven reunion was a one time thing.”

“Huh. Weird,” you say.

“Yeah. It’s pretty weird,” she agrees.

“Hey, by the way, I didn’t really mention you to Orias or make sure he was okay with the whole demonbane thing.” You quickly tell her about the weird request from Orias to join you on the trip.

“Don’t worry about it. Dad made sure to set the record straight with all the new conclave demons,” Ro replies. “He didn’t want them giving me or Waldric any trouble.”

You nod, glad that’s out of the way. “Cool.”

“Which one’s Orias again? Is that the big crab guy?”

“Uh. No,” you say. “That’s Ulam’blehblehblu or whatever.”

“I haven’t met him yet then. Is he cool?”

>Eh. You’ll see.

“Eh. He’s… different,” you say.

“Oh, you don’t say?”

You explain further. “He’s way uptight. But like. Way more uptight than that. I mean, you think he’s like, so awkward that the first time you meet him, you think might, like, be actually be cool. Secretly though he’s a total donk.”

“A total donk, huh?” says Ro.

“You heard me,” you say, your voice firm. “Although, he does have a swanky pair of blue Basilisk skin boots he hunted himself.

“He seriously went hunting for basilisks?” she asks, incredulous.

“I don’t know, that’s what he said anyway. Or maybe he said it hunted him? I can’t remember. I don’t know. He’s about as interesting as an accountant who’s only life outside work is big game hunting.”

“Oh wow. That sure is uninteresting,” she says wryly.

“Hey. I’m talking here,” you say. “Trust me, you’ll see what he’s like.”

“Sure thing,” she says in a chipper tone. You suspect she’s mocking you.

You laugh at her. “Hey. I’m just the messenger,” you say. “Don’t say I didn’t warn you.”

“I won’t. You should probably do most of your packing tonight if we’re really leaving at six. After we come here after school, we won’t have much time to get to the mall where the portaling thing is happening. Your freedom fighter guy probably expects us to show up early.”

“Yeah yeah, I’m getting there,” you say. “You think I need to bring snacks?”

“I don’t know. I’m only bringing a water purifier. The place we’re going to go doesn’t sound like a desert, we’ll probably be buying stuff from people on the way. Or if that doesn’t work, I’m more than comfortable relying on your super hunting skills.”

“I guess it shouldn’t be a problem,” you reply.

“Oh. When you’re packing though, I think you should try to keep it low key. Cerra’s like in the middle ages or something like that.”

“How do I do that? It’s not like I have bodices and… uh. You know. Medieval stuff. Things. Whatever.”
>>
>>38229919

“I don’t know,” says Ro. “Like, maybe don’t pack your Jordans? Just plain boots would be better.”

“Yeah, but anything we wear’s going to be out of place because we’re from the future.” You get an idea then. “Maybe when we get there, we’ll get disguises,” you say, suddenly intrigued. “You know, so we don’t risk altering the timeline.”

“Cerra’s not literally the middle ages,” Ro chides.

“Geeze, it was a joke. I’m not stupid,” you say, a little addled. (+1 Stress: 19/100)

“Just being careful,” she replies.

“Whatever. I’m going to go pack.” You leave to go get things together.

--PACKING—
Pick one heavy option from one category, one medium from another, and one light from another.

-Weapons
>Heavy: The whole kit and caboodle. Magic, your SMG, explosives, you name it.
>Medium: Don’t go overboard, but keep it diverse. Bring your magic stuff, a few grenades, and a handgun.
>Light: Stick to your magic stuff. Obvious technological stuff is not low key.
-Clothes
>Heavy: Bring a complete change of clothes for options. You never know, after all.
>Medium: Just bring the externals, like a coat and a beanie. It might get cold.
>Light: Don’t weigh yourself down. All you need is a change of underwear and a toothbrush.
-Supplies & Tools

>Medium: A first aid kit and a few packs of dehydrated food just in case should do it.

You get it all neat and ready to go by your backpack. Within, you pack some extra underwear and some bathroom counter type stuff, but decide not to weigh yourself down with a bulky coat. Your zippered hoodie should be good enough for all weather conditions you will experience. When it comes to tools though, it’s better to have it and not need it than not have it at all.

After pilfering the basement for anything you decide important to have, you wind up cramming the rest of your backpack with various items that may or may not come in handy. First aid stuff, medicine, a compass, dehydrated food, a flashlight (even if you don’t need it) and more. Even if there are a million people coming along, somebody’s bound to forget something.

As you’re figuring out how to best arrange everything, you decide to give Mr. Crowther a call. He might be able to offer some insight.

He picks up instantly.

“Hello Sierra,” he says.

You’re a little creeped out by the promptness of his reply, but you are the one who called him. You have an agenda. “Hey,” you say. “Look. I’m going to be frank with you. I’m doing some pretty shady stuff, and I need some advice from somebody who knows stuff.”

“I see,” says Mr. Crowther.

“Are you legally obliged to do anything about anything I tell you?”

“Not necessarily,” he says. “So long you’re speaking hypothetically, of course.”

“So hypothetically speaking, let’s say I’m helping some guy from Ettenrhine open a landwell in Cerra so his buddies can surprise attack their Eclipse pals in the next plane over,” you say. “But let’s say one of these Eclipse guys is like, hey Sierra, don’t do that. We’re paying double. What would you do?”
>>
>>38232094

“As a representative of the United States government, I wouldn’t be involved in conflicts abroad,” he replies.

“Well what if you weren’t a representative of the United State government?” you ask.

“In that case, I would see who has more to offer. The Eclipse have a strict non-interventionist policy with extra-planar societies. As long as I mitigated my activity against them to a supporting role, virtually any activity I engaged in would fall outside their purview. As for the Ettenrhine, they struggle to cobble together the resources necessary to oppose the Eclipse. An organization that can barely maintain a cohesive existence against its principle enemies is not an organization that can threaten reprisal to obscure third-parties.”

“Okay, good to know, but I was kind of wondering more about like, which one is the better one.”

“The Eclipse, naturally, will triumph in the end, assuming no interference from outside sources. They have a distinct advantage of discipline, equipment, and a solid economic base.”

“I meant like which one has the moral high ground,” you say, getting annoyed.

“Ettenrhine has gone to great lengths to vocalize the unfairness of its position. The Eclipse, however, hold conservative support amongst most Trionalins.”

You groan. “Are you going to tell me anything useful?”

“Useful? Why whatever for would it be useful, Sierra?” asks Crowther. “This is a hypothetical thought exercise with no bearing on real world events. Now, did you have anything to add to the scenario, or are you satisfied with my contributions on the matter?”

>Ugh. Whatever.

Ask what the main points of contention between the Ettenrhine and Eclipse are. Ask if the Eclipse is known for having a reliable information network. Ask what he thinks of using the possibility/threat of an attack to coerce Eclipse instead of actually attacking them.

It's not like we need to know what these other people thought about her, we can talk to other people.

The Stygian that Waldric brought over knew her apparently, and we could always talk to the shadows at Muir again.
>>
>>38232975
They may know something she does not.
>>
>>38232975
While certainly we can talk to people who knew her personally, there seems to be some mystery as to the precise circumstances surrounding her death. Does Eclipse really have the information gathering capabilities to investigate the Imperiate's death, or are trying to manipulate Sierra with claims of knowing how her mother died and who killed her?
>>
“Nah, you gave me some stuff to think about,” you say. “Thanks for the input.” You get that as Magister, he might not be able to afford being non-objective about stuff like that. As you’re thinking though, you remember another detail you wanted to mention. “Oh and uh. Coincidentally, I do have another question.”

“Ask away.”

“What’s their whole civil war thing about, anyway?”

“The technically legal, quasi-illegal occupation of Ettenrhine by Ironstrom, her larger, southern neighbor,” he answers. “Despite general confusion on the matter, all points branch from this issue.”

That gives you something to go off of, at least. “Okay, good to know. But what if the Eclipse claimed they had information about somebody who died a long time ago?” you ask. “I mean, would they really be that good, or are they just talking crap?”

“They do not make unsubstantiated claims,” says Crowther.

You feel an odd sense of unease in your stomach. “Oh. Okay,” you say, trying to think about what this means. “So. Is there like, any way to get them to stop fighting? You know, maybe negotiate about stuff?”

Your question actually gets him to laugh. You’ve never heard Moriah’s dad laugh before. It’s a high, clear, unsettling sound. “The Eclipse cannot afford to compromise their position,” he says, the sound of a wide smile evident in his words. “I am sorry, but if you would excuse me, I cannot afford to spend all evening chatting. Edifying as our discussion has been, I have a schedule to keep.”

“Oh. Uh. Right,” you say.

“Good evening.”

“Yeah. See you,” you reply. Feeling that’s it, you hang up.

Huh. Weird.

So from what I gather, long time ago Ironstrom/Eclipse for whatever reason invaded/occupied Ettenhine with probably some promise that it was temorary or for the greater good. And now that Ettenhine thinks they've outlived their welcome want them gone for FREEDOM while Eclipse is more than likely split between "No this is ours now" and "Some of us think we've done enough, but can't say anything because the group as a whole says we should stay and can't lose face saying otherwise."

The best option is to convince Derek that an invasion force won't work, and that there's better ways to fuck with Ironstrom, Like getting a pile of saboteurs and spies in to fuck with the enemy infrastructure, and narrow the tech gap. Which will probably do more for them than damaging the capital while still probably losing their entire army.

Then lie to Jaegerstroud about having sealed the portal, and get paid twice.
>>
>>38233913
Aiding their enemies in executive strategy and enabling large scale sabotage after trying to convince them that we sided with them and the Ettenrhine didn't mind sounds like it's actually the worst option, anon.

Derek probably knows his tactical situation better than we do.
What we are going to tell him that will change his mind? That an Eclipse Knight and Crowdaddy told us he can't win?
>>
You have a lot of crap to think about, and you’re too tired to think about it. You get ready for bed, curl up under the covers, and after some vague moments of wonder at what the Eclipse know about what happened, you pass out.

The next day, you are notably distracted in school. Vikrama’s positively aglow when you see her, and won’t stop asking all kinds of probing questions about everything you know about fantastic stuff, especially when you mention anybody can learn magic. Rowan takes over this part, mostly. Even Baron gets into the conversation, apparently recovered from whatever blight effected his brain over the camping trip.

“Werewolves?” he asks.

“Apparently there’s a bunch in Canada,” you say.

“Vampires?”

“False. Vampires don’t exist.”

“Dragons?”

“Yes, but I still haven’t seen one yet, so I’m still waiting on that. They can look not like dragons though, so who knows. Anybody in the school could be a dragon for all I know.”

“Just one second. Are dragons big?”

“Yeah, huge sometimes. Like, hill-sized huge.”

“How does a hill-sized thing shapeshift into something smaller than a hill-sized thing? Does it still weigh the same?”

“How can I wear a baseball cap that covers up my horns?” you ask mockingly. “The answer is, ‘I don’t know, it’s fucking magic.’”

School proceeds in such a fashion. It’s a nice turn of pace from not talking about sweet magical fantasy crap. It ends without you ever actually paying attention to anything in any of your classes.

With thoughts of Eclipse Knights and interplanar portals and medieval quests on your mind, you rush home with Rowan to get geared. You don’t ask Ro if she told anybody where she’s headed, because its none of your damn business. If she wants to take the blame for it, that’s her prerogative.

As you and her set out to leave, you with your scabbard and mail shirt on under your jacket, Ro with Aleopher the BS angel magic sword on her back, Harvey stops you at the door.
>>
“Here. You’ll need these,” he says, holding up a plate with two BLTs on it.

Rowan ruffles her brother’s hair as a form of payment. “Make sure they know it was my idea,” she says.

Harvey ignores her and looks at you. “Was it really her idea?” he asks.

You already have a mouthful of BLT, so you can’t verbalize a reply. You just shrug.

“Okay.” He brushes aside your jacket to look over his chainmail. “Don’t worry. It should work this time,” he reassures you.

You give him a dubious look. “Are you serious?” you say through a mouthful of food.

“Ha ha, of course not,” he says, smiling a little too broadly.

“We’re running late,” says Rowan, checking her watch. “Let’s get out of here.”

Without getting a straight answer from Harvey, you are conveyed out of the house and to the curb. On the bus to the mall, you and Rowan get a lot of curious looks from the other passengers. Ro, because she’s dressed similarly to a Roman Legionnaire and has a broadsword over her legs, and you because your backpack bulges suspiciously with equipment and you have a full shirt of mail on underneath your jacket. The weight is heavier than you’re used to, but it makes you feel irrationally safe.

“This is ridiculous,” you say, glancing outside at the passing streets.

“You get used to it,” says Ro, kicking her duffel bag under the seat to make room for some new passengers.

A college-aged guy with a couple of his friends gets your attention from across the aisle. “Are you girls going to that tournament in Golden Gate Park?” he asks. “Isn’t that supposed to be next week?”

Ro chuckles at the comment.

“Nah, we’re just going on a really hot double date,” you say flatly.

The guys laugh. “Seriously?” asks their pack leader, smiling incredulously. “Was the sword thing their idea?”

Rowan rolls her eyes. “You know how it is,” she says, conspiratorially. “When you have a really nice set of armor, you’re always on the lookout for any excuse to wear it.”

“Amen to that,” says one of the other guys. “Anytime I’m going out, it’s always the question - steel cuirass and round shield, or a light jacket?”

You snort. “Really though,” you say seriously, “it’s pretty rare a guy’s willing to just come up to a girl and say like, hey babe, I’d really like to face you off on the field of honor.”

Rowan nods emphatically. “It’s so true. Most of my friends can’t even raise a second when the joust comes around,” she says.

“Whoah. That’s crazy,” says the pack leader.

You scoff in reply. “It’s totally not even because their martial prowess – some of the best warriors I know can’t get a willing rival, even when there’s like, at least three different dudes who are pretty much fantasizing about engaging in bloody melee with them.”

“It’s the guys these days,” says the one in the back. “They’re too afraid of getting maimed.”

“Yeah, lots of cowards out there. Pretty disgusting,” you say.

“Not all cowards, though. You and your friend found some valiant foes willing to die for the cause, right?”

“We’ll see how the upcoming contest goes,” says Rowan. “You never know your enemy till you cross blades.”

“That’s pretty deep,” he replies.

You and Rowan continue to crack jokes, and get some good ones in reply. You realize you’re being maybe a little bit flirty, but you have fun for a few more minutes before you finally feel its time to disentangle yourself from the silly business. It’s nice to talk to some guys who appreciate the finer aspects of combat, but you’re kind of on a quest right now. It’s serious business time. And also, you are suspicious. Maybe it’s because it’s been a while since you’ve gone someplace armed to the teeth, and you’re worried somebody will see the Ruger in your backpack.

The bus comes up on the mall, and everybody, including the guys, evacuate the bus.

You and Rowan go to head to the parking garage, but somebody holds you up – not pack leader alpha, but the brown-haired, moderately stylish dude who was carrying his team’s side of the banter through the whole exchange. “Hey. I don’t always try to fight other people’s battles, but you should be prepared just in case there’s a forfeiture,” he says, smiling. “Would it be rude if I asked you for your number?”

Rowan suppresses a smile and takes a step backward.

This quest's players have never, in the history of HellbornQuest, been this united behind a cause.

Why do you tease me like this :(

Feels good to be the one to come up with it.

I almost said to call a pizza joint but then it popped into my head.

Oh god second! Haahahha!
I love /tg/.I go to make dinner and i come back to see this!

“Only if you didn’t introduce yourself first,” you say, smirking at the fact somebody wants your number. No question about it, you’re pretty clever and hot and stuff.

“I’m Matthew,” he says.

“I’m Sierra,” you reply. “Except… how would you know if my date gives up? You should be the one giving me your number.”

The turnaround surprises him, but he doesn’t stay off balance long. “That’s a good point,” he says, doing a good job disguising the defeat in his voice, if not in his emotional aura. “Here. I should have a pencil somewhere…” he starts rifling through his pockets.

“I have a phone,” you say, slipping your communicator from your pocket. “Gimme those digits.”

He does, and you punch them in under the name, bus guy Matt.

Matthew bids you a quick goodbye and leaves to chase down his friends, who are already half way into the mall and to ditching their comrade.

A ridiculous idea occurs to you right then and there, and you smile maliciously. (-5 Stress: 14/100) “Hey Matthew!”

He turns on a dime. “Yeah?”

“You know what, you never know. Get that pencil.”

He produces a pencil and a tiny piece of paper for you. Carefully, you take both and write down the number, handing both back. It’s difficult to remain calm given the circumstances. (-5 Stress: 9/100)

“Thanks,” he says, genuinely excited as he runs back off to make up for lost ground.

“Pretty daring,” says Rowan, grinning broadly. “He’s pretty cute. I didn’t think you’d change your mind about giving out your number.”

“I didn’t,” you say, your smile threatening to split your face in half. (-5 Stress: 4/100)

Rowan pauses. “What number did you give out?”

You can barely speak from the sheer magnitude of your chicanery. “Ranthix’s.”

>You can barely speak from the sheer magnitude of your chicanery. “Ranthix’s.”
Congrats, Sierra is now a grade A asshole.
>>
>>38237691
Goddamnit well done. Goodnight Lawngod.
>>
>>38237691

“Oh goodness,” she says, running an anxious hand through her hair. “Oh my goodness.”

“Hey, it’s no biggie,” you say. “I’ve got his number too, remember?”

Rowan somehow manages to shake herself out of shock. “Do you think you’ll actually call him at some point, or are you just going to let him… encounter Ranthix?”

“Who knows,” you say, looking at your phone before storing it once more. “Maybe, maybe not. Either way it works out. I either get to hear about Ranthix’s reaction or get an okay date. Or both. Score one for me.” You are damn good. (-5 Stress: -1/100)

Ro laughs. “Geeze, I can’t believe you sometimes. You’re so… ridiculous. I don’t even know.”

You snicker to yourself. “Yeah tell me about it,” you say, still impressed with yourself. Definitely will be a good story for future parties. “All right, let’s get out of here. Wouldn’t want to keep Freddy waiting.”

--END--

Wow, got to a good finishing point for once. Thanks for dropping in. Next thread, I don’t know when. I have a project I have to work on. If it’s easy, next thread will be on Saturday. If it’s not, expect delays.

Edit: It demanded action.

What?
>>
>>38237702
She's always been a bit of an asshole - she's enjoyed fucking with people like this since the quest started, it's just that it's been a while since she messed with someone.
>>
>>38237705
Thanks for the thread!

Really looking forward to our extraplanar trip, hope your project goes well!
>>
>>38237702
Is it bad that I thought of that?
>>
>>38237732
Stress can go into the negatives, remember? It hasn't happened often, but it can happen when Sierra gets really happy.
>>
>>38237732
4 - 5 = -1
>>
>>38237705
You done good for writing it before bed. Thanks, man.

And thanks to Anon for suggesting it.
>>
>>38237702

Have to get Sierra back to her roots of being a jerk to people she doesn't know.
>>
>>38237705
Whooo! Thanks Lawngod. A great compromise all around. And now we can go on a normal, casual date where we just have fun instead of worrying about having to reveal ourself. Or not! But goddamn will this be funny.

And watch that stress meter drop! We are in the best of moods for determining what side of our Interdimensional Israel/Palestine problem.

I say stick with the deal we've made already, and let Eclipse know that if they want then we are open to negotiation for future issues - but that once we make a deal we stick with it.

Man, it's been SO long since Stress was anything but at least 10/100.
>>
>>38237702
Think of it this way: If he can't take Ranthix, then any relationship with Sierra was doomed from the start.
>>
>>38237764
Character development is a thing, you know?
>>
>>38237789
Hence why it's been a while since we've done this.
>>
>>38237732
Stress isn't 1-100, it's a number line. Positives from 1 to 100 are stressed/upset/angry/generally-not-happy. Above 100 is RAAAAAAAAAGE. Negatives are happy.
>>
>>38237785
We can call it a quest or a trial or something.

>>38237754
>>38237806
It's been so long that I forgot we could be happy.

I'm so sick of people who call "THEY HAVE TO BE NICE BECAUSE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT!" in near every quest where the mc isn't super nice. Sierra's a dick to people sometimes because she thinks its funny and it makes her feel good. If anything, the advancements of her demonic traits would have made it worse since Belphegorans literally feed on being psychologically sadistic.
>>
>>38237789
Are you implying Sierra has had no character development? Because you'd be implying wrong.
>>
>>38237812
Story of my life.
>>
>>38237789
And it's happened, just not in this aspect. Not every character needs to develop a stick up their ass.

Sierra u so dumb, so adorable
>>
>>38237764
If this guy survives Ranthix, we should definitely give him a date. To honor his courage if nothing else.
