/tg/ - Traditional Games

You are Reinhold Eschenwald, master swordsman and victor of the Royal Swordsmanship Tournament. The King was so impressed with your skill, he personally requested that you be transferred out of the army and into the Royal Guard! Not bad for an orphan who was raised in a brothel in a poor fishing village.

One of many issues that you're forced to deal with at this point is your assignment... you've been charged to be the personal guard of the King's only daughter Marianne. While she is the vision of loveliness that you'd expect from a Princess, her personality is... well... she seems to have some issues.

You, Niklaus, Inaba and Takamaru have set out to rescue Luciana from the bastard who kidnapped her. Though it's an unlikely party, you're confident that you'll be successful in getting Luciana back.

Failure is not an option.

>Congratulations, Reinhold is now a fearsome DIRE WOLF!
>Much larger than their the other types of wolf, the Dire Wolf's size also means that they are also that much more dangerous.
>The Princess considers you to be her dear friend!
>But while dire wolves are massive, they still don't -quite- stand on the same level as people.

>"I smell him!" Inaba shouts. "Andreas! Not dead!" she says, excitedly pointing to the north. "Reinhold, we help him and then save Luciana together!"

"Andreas!?" Takamaru gasps. "He survived!?"
"Yes!" Inaba says while jumping up and down frantically. "I smell him that way!" she continues pointing north.
"...who is this person who you two are so excited about?" Niklaus asks.
"Elena's bodyguard," you reply. "We thought he was killed by Leopold, but-"
"He alive!" Inaba shouts. "Come on!"

Valerie ends up tall like her father, but with the small bust that tends to run in the Granache family. Tends to wear her hair up in a loose bun.

>>

"That way, right?" you ask, pointing in the same direction as the bunnygirl.
"Yes!" Inaba shouts. "We go now!"
"Turn back into a rabbit and I'll carry you there myself."
"Okay!"

Inaba does as you tell her, transforming into her smaller rabbit self. ONce she jumps into your arms, you start running... though this time it's not towards Luciana.

But you figure that you'll need all the help you can.

>>
>>38208828
Probably not too tall.
Greg's only 6' himself and Ara Ara is normal sized, so unless Nicholas was a big guy or something, Guillame probably won't be monster tall.

>>
>>38208948

Elena's shorter than her because she's 4 years younger than Val but Guillame could easily be taller than her right now.

After a few minutes of running, you start to wonder if Inaba was right about having caught Andreas's scent. While you do realize that you're running upwind, getting sidetracked for too long runs the risk of getting thrown off Luciana's trail and that would just...

...you're not about to let that happen.

"I see something," Takamaru says to you in a hushed tone. "Just ahead."
"...a battlefield?" Niklaus starts to slow down when he sees what lies before you.

A massive shell of rock that looks like it just erupted from the ground itself, at least as large as the old army barracks where you used to live. It seems as if something erupted from out of it, and you see scattered fragments of stone lying about...

>[2/3]
>>
>>38208997
>Well is Valerie tall now or will her tallness come about during a difficult puberty?
Valerie is relatively tall compared to the others.

>Elena's shorter than her because she's 4 years younger than Val but Guillame could easily be taller than her right now.
Remember that girls hit their growth spurts first, and tend to be taller than boys their age until around 10-12.

...and among those huge fragments of stone that lie at the base of the dome, you see several men fighting. Six who you don't recognize, though their matching armor suggests that they're on the same side, and three others... not counting the dozen corpses that litter the ground.

With his back towards the dome, you recognize Anatole. Clutching an arm that seems to be broken, he hides behind Monique, who seems to be taking a defensive position.

The third among them appears to be off doing his own thing, however... he's in the middle of the remaining attackers, hacking away at them with a sword that appears to be glowing.

"Andreas!" Takamaru gasps.

It's more around those years than until those years.
Boys are bigger for the first 5 or so years, then boys and girls are the same until about 8-12, where girls are taller, then hormones happen in boys around 13-14 and they all sprout the fuck up overnight faster than their brains can handle it and end up knocking shit over because they underestimate just how much longer their arms and legs are than yesterday.

Fair enough.
>>
>>38209624
I think, honestly, the only time he's been truly out of line was when we fought him and he fucked our sword up.

People might say he was a dick to Nico, but let's be honest, Nico's pretty aggressive herself and would seem to have hardly put that much effort towards being on good terms with him, so their poor relationship is both their faults rather than Monique being an asshole all on his own.

I don't see how that justifies Monique insulting Ara Ara.

We can be a colossal dick at times. This is true. I'm really looking forward to the VN where hopefully Reinhold won't be such an insensitive prick all the time because of our crappy influence.

Monique was dick without our input. He did that all on his own.
>>
He's surrounded by those men... probably more of those mercenaries from before, if Leopold's cover story wasn't entirely full of shit. But in any event, he's alive and you intend to make sure that he stays that way.

After letting Inaba hop to the ground, you start running down towards the scene of the battle...

"I shed this frail husk, biding my time so that I may be reborn within a rocky hide!" you chant. "Stone Body!"

Though in your case it's more like "steel body." Though your steps are heavier, you continue running and gaining momentum, and casting Tailwind certainly does a world of improvement to your running speed.

Be fair. It's more like the redistricting is taking place in secret while the votes are being cast.
>>
>>38209925
I think that scenario happened in Venezuela a while back.
>>
>>38209891

I consider it a wash. He got the crap kicked out of him worse then Reinhold did. Then he got the fear of Gregory put into him.
>>
>>38209925
It's more like the redistricting already happened eight hundred years ago, but nobody really bothers to look at the gerrymandered clusterfuck of a map anymore since the technicalities practically never end up mattering.

Also this analogy is getting pretty thin.

No, actually, it was that they redistricted right before the election, getting 48% of the popular vote, but 60%+ of the seats.

I don't remember the specific rule but it was something about only being allowed to use direct attacks.
He altered the environment of the arena to try and impede us and used healing magic to withstand blows that would have given us the advantage, neither of those were direct attacks and therefore both acts of cheating.

"Ephemeris Edge!" Andreas shouts as his sword once again regains its gleaming luster just in time to cleave a mercenary in twain. Though his spell is still as effective as always, the heavy armor that these men are wearing has the annoying effect of costing him half a sword's worth of coating with every swing that connects.

Pulling his sword from the fallen corpse, Andreas contorts his entire body in order to avoid what would have likely been a fatal stab to his side.

"Guardian Sign!" he shouts as a small portion of the stardust that's wafting through this scene of carnage flickers into the form of a shield that blocks another potentially deadly blow.

While Andreas's mastery of his primary combat spell has taken him this far, constant usage of Guardian Sign is preventing him from finally ending this battle. And with Monique protecting the injured Anatole, he's not sure if he'll be able to hold out forever...

He wasn't allowed to heal himself. The unsuspecting mercenary who you just trampled underfoot served as something of a speedbump, and you find yourself skidding to a halt right next to Andreas.

"The hell!?" Andreas shouts. "Who the- REINHOLD!?"
"That's right!" you shout as you block an oncoming sword with your metal forearm.

Clearly afraid thanks to the appearance of a new unknown opponent, the remaining four mercenaries back away from you and Andreas...

"Kill," you reply, lunging towards the nearest mercenary. His sword clangs harmlessly against your metallic skin as you grab his face and drive your sword right through his heart.

And then for added measure, you will your sword to go serrated on the way back out just in case.

>"This's nice and all, but we should probably stow it until later," Anatole says while clutching his injured arm. "Leopold gave you guys our location, right? Did he make it to the castle okay?"

Immediately run Anatole through the heart with our sword. He's obviously working with Leopold and we have no time to waste!

"...Leopold is a traitor," Takamaru says. "He has kidnapped the Princess and we came across you while pursuing them."
"WHAT!?" Andreas shouts. "You can't possibly be serious-"
"I am," you say, shaking your head. "He's the one who was behind all this shit with the kidnappings and attacks... I don't have time to explain any more, they're getting further away with every second we waste here."

The three Knights look particularly shaken up by this sudden revelation... no wonder, they've been working alongside him for the past month.

"...so it's HIS fault that Armin was killed..." Andreas grits his teeth.

For whatever it's worth, we already know Monique's effective against earth-y Devil Children (which are pretty much Contractor Lite) from having switched off with him against a mismatched opponent during the Marconetti incident.

Get the guy who was fighting back to the castle, and keep the guy who was more fresh by virtue of just holding back people from attacking a stationary target around.

Andreas plus stardust magic isn't any less effective than Monique and his icesword.
It's been repeatedly stated multiple times that a sealed king is not an insta-win against Greg/Vincent tier badasses.
If Setsuranka was so strong, how come Monique was still overpowered by Leopold?
>>
>>38211519

One of the hardest decisions, but I'd rather not have Andreas die on us. We already have Takamaru to carry our Deathflags.

Send Andreas back to Elena. That should cheer them all up a bit.
>>
>>38211626
Monique-supporter here, but if we were really petty clearly we'd want Monique along. Andreas will steal our girlfriend by getting triple 20s and one-shotting Leopold, who will go flying away in stone form like a meteor and collide with the evil king. (even if we aren't using that system anymore, Andreas can still deliver).
>>
>>38211626
Considering that Andreas got his knighthood because he was the best in the land, while Monique had a fancy sword...
>>
All these people thinking we're going to fuck up hard enough to get Andreas killed.
>>
>>38211662
>If Setsuranka was so strong, how come Monique was still overpowered by Leopold?
He wasn't? Judging by Turkey's reaction, Leo told them he'd make a run for it under the auspices of getting word back to the castle, and used the diversion to go do his mission.
>>
>>38211652
>Please man. If you want tactical advantage, you'd go with andreas.

So tired, exhausted most of his magical powers, a liability in that Inaba is likely to put herself at risk if he's in danger, and likely to put himself at risk if Luci is in danger, and with a combat style oriented towards melee is more tactically advantageous than someone who is none of those things, and has a Sealed King capable of long-ranged AoE attacks.

I'm so glad I will never have you counselling a party I am in when it comes to strategy meetings.

>>
>>38211689
I never quite got that entire Monqiue is not really good, he just has a fancy sword thing.
The undeniable fact is he does have that sword and the sword is one heck of a fancy sword. Using it in the duel was at the very least borderline cheating, but in actual combat he is definitely a force to be reckoned with.
>>
>>38211689
More like everyone in Granache is so overkill, rape-tier overpowered that becoming a knight there has a higher requirement threshhold compared to Marconetti.

If she was in Marconetti, Nico probably woulda been knighted by now.

>>38211765
Monique woulda been knighted ages ago had he been serving in Marconetti this entire time. Their standards for power aren't anywhere near as high as Granache's. There's a reason why Celestino was fine with getting just ONE of Thierri's knights. They're all uber compared to most of his.
>>
>>38211697
They were still attacked by that stone dome thing and Setsuranka couldn't save Monique at that point.
Saying that Monique is objectively the better option and that anybody not choosing him is doing so out of spite is ridiculous. Both have their strengths and advantages and to say the other choice is invalid because you don't agree with it is childish.
>>
>>38211801
But definitely not compared to Andreas of the triple 20s.
>>
>>38211776
Luci wouldn't NTR Rein for Leopold but she'd probably NTR the guy Celestino forced her to marry if things had played out differently.
>>
>>38211807
By that logic if we were ever to play as Gregory and roll two 1's then you would be saying that Andreas was stronger than Gregory.
>>
>>38211765
Did we ever find pout how Monique actually got the sword?
Because despite what people in here might have been telling you, I seriously doubt Monique just happened to find that sword lying besides the road.

Basically this whole argument is silly.
>>
>>38211830
What does that have to do with earning your knighthood? The real knights were seriously pissed when they found out Monique was being knighted. It devalues not only the title but also all the hard work put in by those who actually worked for it. If all your peers don't think you deserve your knighthood, then it's most likely a problem.

I did too. I'm not too wild about the guessing game system. I'm not really sure how it'd scale towards harder fights either unless GM was being deliberately obtuse in descriptions or just had such a high threshold of successes that sooner or later the herd voted wrong.

>>38211845
>>38211827
You'd just give Gregory a high base bonus. If Andreas did roll triple 20s again, he probably should win. Even as strong as Gregory is, I think Andreas would at least win once out of every 8000 times.

"It's fine," Anatole replies, shaking his head. "I guess I'm sitting this one out."

Though you'd honestly prefer to have Andreas join you in this (not to mention that Inaba would agree with you), Andreas seems to be kind of spent from fighting off all those mercenaries.

"Andreas?" you turn to him. "Do you think you can get Anatole to the castle on your own?"
"That way," Inaba points southward.
"Yeah, I guess," he nods.
"Alright," you sigh. "Monique, come with us."
"Very well," Monique replies. "I'm more than happy to help rescue the Princess and end that bastard's life."

"Yes," Inaba nods. "That way," she says, pointing in the direction of the sunset.

So you still have a clear trail. Great.

"Alright, we really need to get going now," you say. "Take care, alright?"
"Will do," Andreas replies. "Just make sure you don't spare that bastard."
"That was never an option," you reply coldly.

Inaba gives Andreas a goodbye hug before turning back into her rabbit form and leaping into your arms. Monique, Andreas and Anatole seem shocked to actually see that, but you pay their surprise no mind. Parting ways, you cast your respective spells and get moving.

Takamaru fills Monique in on the details of how this entire situation happened to begin with. You're quite grateful for that, as you're most definitely not in the mood to be talking to anyone right now. So instead, you run.

Nearly a halfhour passes before you find yourselves back on the same path that you'd been on before taking that detour to help Andreas and his fellow knights. After curving around craggy rock formations that you're sure that that bastard went -through-, Niklaus informs you that you've just crossed the border into Perricone.

"Their borders were always poorly-guarded," Monique growls. "Back in my Border guard days, we'd constantly fight off bandits who passed into Granache through there..."
"Well it looks like he's using this as an easy route to get back to Ancellotta," Niklaus says. "The Princess's trail is picking up to the north."

And north you go.

"No," you shake your head. "We've wasted enough time already."
"Very well," Niklaus replies. "The Princess awaits!"

His attempt at levity is lost on you.

Monique shoots the outpost a puzzled glance, but offers no words of complaint as you continue on the path laid out by Niklaus's sense of smell. Northward bound, you soon spot the large pillars that delineate the border between Perricone and Ancellotta.

As well as a building off in the distance.

"Niklaus!" you turn to the Archmage. "Is that it!?"
"I'm not sure," Niklaus replies, "but her scent's getting very strong... we're definitely getting close."
"But there are guards stationed along the border," Monique replies. "Getting through without being detected is going to be a problem."

At your side, you hear Takamaru muttering something in his native tongue.

"Seiya Kekkai," Takamaru says.
"Sei..." Monique stares at him. "What spell is that?"

Ignoring him, Takamaru chants even faster than he had before.

"Kamigami no Arashi," he says, extending both hands forward while continuing to run.

They start one by one. Paper birds, flying from the swordsman's wide sleeves. But they soon increase in number to the point where a massive torrent of paper flows outwards and towards the guards who are positioned at the border. You see them open their mouths to scream...

...but you hear no sound coming from them.

After the paper birds have completely filled the air around the muted guards, Takamaru clenches his fist and they all descend on their prey.

The paper sticks to the guards like glue, smothering and crushing the guards until they are no longer moving.

"No alarm was able to be sounded," Takamaru says to you. "Let us continue on."

You simply nod in agreement, racing past the paper-enshrouded corpses and racing towards the building that caught your eye earlier. Luckily, you don't see anyone else along the way.

"..." you skid to a halt once you reach it, your legs tired from having been running all this time. Though the hatred that's filling your heart right now has brought you this far, your body still needs to take a break.

Scent of Luciana continues above ground, so Leopold was still moving above ground.
>>
That's it for tonight, folks. With any luck, the showdown starts next time!

I'll be taking Saturday off to not quest, so the earliest I'll be running again is Sunday night.

and now question time
>>
>>38213362
Depends very much on how precise that sense is.
>>38213361
Same goes for sensing Niklaus melting the wall.
>>
>>38213377
Thanks for running arch
>>
>>38213377
Thanks for the thread, Arch.

What was in the building we passed up?
>>
>>38213377
Thanks for running, Arch!
>>
>>38213377
Thanks for the thread.

How are the main characters handling shit back home in Granache?
>>
>>38213377
On a scale of 1 to 10, how well are we performing in our final scene so far? Alternatively if you don't want to say as much, has there been a majorly good or bad decision yet?
>>
>>38213377
Thanks for running.
>>
>>38213377
Who is gonna replace Rein if he leaves with Luci?
Who is the gut that Mari will marry if she doesn't get with Rein, do we know him?

>>38209104
and this
>>
>>38213377
1) Has there even been sudden mass ascensions that had a significant effect on a historical event (not in the sense of foxes all eventually ascending, but like the great ascension of the farm cats who repelled the border invasion).

2) How mortified will Luciana be that we tracked her by smell for hours?
>>
>>38213380
If he's here, he probably sensed all the guards by the border hitting the ground and four people crossing over to this building. That should set off an alarm.
>>
>>38213271
>Not to mention that being underground places all of the advantages in his field.
Not actually a point in favor of taking that route.
>>38213322
>Now our only options are to draw massive amounts of attention to ourselves by busting a hole in the wall
You seriously think that they sealed the entrances on their own side and left the ones in a hostile nation both open and unguarded?
>>
>>38213377
How plausible is the cat-lady harem?>>38213232
>>
>>38213423
>How mortified will Luciana be that we tracked her by smell for hours?
We could tell her that it's just because she smells so nice

Speaking of which, we know what Luci and Mari smell like but do any of the other girls wear and perfume?
>>
>>38213377
Thanks for running, etc.

Before we started doing our final decision-making, what was your mental image of who we'd have with us by the time we got around to the actual rescue mission? How incredibly wrong was your theory?
>>
>>38213449
Non-royal girls smell like horrible BO.
>>
>>38213429
I am not saying I am surprised if he knows we are here. I only say that if there is still a chance he that he missed his spot check, we shouldn't give it up just so we can play Koolaid man.
>>
>>38213398
>What was in the building we passed up?
A bunch of dead folks and one who wasn't quite dead yet.

>>38213411
>On a scale of 1 to 10, how well are we performing in our final scene so far? Alternatively if you don't want to say as much, has there been a majorly good or bad decision yet?
You've been doing pretty alright so far.

>>38213419
>Who is gonna replace Rein if he leaves with Luci?
lol "leaves with luciana"

>Who is the gut that Mari will marry if she doesn't get with Rein, do we know him?
is sekrit

>>38213409
>How are the main characters handling shit back home in Granache?
Well enough.

>>38209104
>Hey arch on the single route will any of the girls show interest in Rein like Sylvie and Luci did except he rejects them or will there be no romantic interaction at all?
Sylvie likes him regardless, so of course she'd show interest. Same goes for Luciana.

>>38213423
>1) Has there even been sudden mass ascensions that had a significant effect on a historical event (not in the sense of foxes all eventually ascending, but like the great ascension of the farm cats who repelled the border invasion).
There's a couple of "neko no ongaeshi" stories about someonne helping an animal that then pays them back tenfold later in life.

>2) How mortified will Luciana be that we tracked her by smell for hours?
She'll be very thankful to the folks who make the perfume that she wears.

>>38213448
>How plausible is the cat-lady harem?
It's not. At all.

>>38213449
>Speaking of which, we know what Luci and Mari smell like but do any of the other girls wear and perfume?
Melanie does, the others just use scented soaps.

>continued...
>>
>>38213377
Just how powerful is Leopold anyway? Most of the Marconetti arc was spent establishing that being a contractor or having a sealed king is bells and whistles compared to actual masters who know what they are doing, ie niklaus. Would it even be possible for us to TPK when it's five on one?
>>
>>38213559
>and one who wasn't quite dead yet.
Here lies Random Exposition Dude:
Thread 264 -- Thread 264
He never scored.
>>
>>38213559
>is sekrit
Inb4 it's Monique
>>
>>38213377
Cheers.
>>
>>38213559
>one who wasn't quite dead yet.
Was this somebody we have met previously?
>>
>>38213575
At the very least I wonder what happened to them?
>>
>>38213599
Leopold beat them to death

With Luciana
>>
>>38213575
I hope it wasn't Vincent and all the people he killed, would've sucked to miss that.
>>
>>38213560
Remember that Arnaud demonstrated that being a contractor and knowing what you are doing is even better.
>>
>>38213575
Alternatively, it could be Milien. He scored, at least.
>>
>>38213646
too soon.
>>
>>38213454
>Before we started doing our final decision-making, what was your mental image of who we'd have with us by the time we got around to the actual rescue mission? How incredibly wrong was your theory?
Reinhold, either Niklaus or Inaba, Takamaru, Andreas, Gerhard and whatever friend you decided to drag along.
I was only partially wrong.

>>38213560
>Just how powerful is Leopold anyway?
bretty stronk
>Most of the Marconetti arc was spent establishing that being a contractor or having a sealed king is bells and whistles compared to actual masters who know what they are doing, ie niklaus. Would it even be possible for us to TPK when it's five on one?
Well you're about to go against a guy who could literally pull a "rocks fall everyone dies" on you in the right conditions.

>>38213594
>>one who wasn't quite dead yet.
>Was this somebody we have met previously?
No, just a Perricone Border Guardsman.

And now it is time for me to go to sleep. Thanks for playing!

>>38213646
I'm thinking it really could have been Milien.
Imagine how awkward it would be trying to get any information you could from a man dying a hero's death while you know he's a child molesting piece of shit?
>>
>>38213677
Mari was what like 14 at the time?
Not a child
>>
>>38213684
Shut up, Milien.
>>
>>38213684
If the best defense for the man one can come up with is, she was already 14...
>>
>>38213684
They're probably Americans, anon. They think if it's below 18 you should be burned at the stake.
>>
>>38213197
Just cuts.
Got an early 20th century book that has photos of it done with help from a net.
>>
>>38213779
You should if you're sexually assaulting her, yes.
>>
>>38214035
I don't think anyone was arguing against that.
