>Summary:
You are Heracor Nahive, techpriest working as an escort for the mighty Commissar Oihan Alzador and currently in the Death World of Plinia Vesus to mitigate the riots and disturbs that the thousands of prisoners destined there are creating and secretly to avoid the uprising of an ancient and incredibly powerful Khorne Bloodthirster. There is a Radical and hypocrite Inquisitor who hates you and whose daughter you accidentally left paraplegic.

You thought you were going to die in that instant. In your still organic mind your memoirs crossed. Due to the hateful chip most of them before it broke are dull and unable to be accessed, glitched into a mess of sensations and images who makes no sense.

To you surprise he didn’t shoot you. He was powerful but not able to do whatever he desired, qualified workers like the techpriest he just killed were scarce in this planet and if he killed too many of them it could lead to catastrophic events. In fact he came to you seeking help.

“I need your help, Blank. Come with me.”

It was obvious he was skipping details and exchanging some terms deliberately. Whatever it was what he needed help with it was something really delicate and secretive. Maybe he just killed that poor man in frustration for needing your help.

Without the possibility of saying no to such agent of the Imperium you followed him. He carried his daughter all the way across the basement. Her bionic spine was not totally refined and it seemed like having some trouble to endure her weight after some minutes, he still carried on and continued without letting her walk.
>>
>>38194549

Your descent into the darkest guts of the headquarters stopped in a vault like door guarded by the two same bodyguards who once kidnapped you.

“Giacco, Moyle. Take care of my daughter, anything that happens to her will be physically reflected on you two millionfold.”

They both seemed kind of nervous for having to take care of the psyker child who could mess with their minds but they knew the Inquisitor was honest, even if she scrapped her knee he would punish them breaking them theirs. It was an odd thing to see how those two grown up and war experienced men were squirming from having to expend time with the young and petite girl.

The inquisitor had to pass several locks to open the vault. A iris scanner, a voice recognition and even inserting his entire arm in a menacing looking and needle covered hole that checked its pulse and confirmed not only that his DNA was correct but also that it was free from any taint. After that he removed his arm, which looked even more pale than usual and was covered in several small and red circlets from the needles that were placed in an apparently random pattern.

The thick adamantium door moved backwards with a hiss as its pistons and hydraulic circuits pushed the gear looking gate to one side.

You expected a big empty room filled with the most unimaginable things but on the other side there was only a square room with white tiling and shower heads, air ducts and vox casters.
>>
>>38194568
Litanies and chants started being emitted and from the shower heads a stream of purifying incense started pouring covering our skins, the light grey cloud continued filling the room for three minutes, forcing us to breathe it and being ritually cleaned also on our interior and our soul. After the incense a cold stream of holy water was poured from the same heads that sent the incense, the water removed any remnant of the grey dust from our skins and the mix was then absorbed by a filter on the ground. Finally we were blown with pure air to both dry and clean us even more.

After the holy decontamination shower another door opened, this time it really lead to what the Inquisitor wanted to show me.

There were several cages on the other side, some bigger than the others and every one branded with a number from 01 to 05. Some of them were dead, others seemed comatose. Lanky was also in one, the only prisoner whose cell was branded with the number 03, she was curled in a ball and shaking, probably of a mix of coldness, hunger and fear.

“Here are so far the prisoners that we have trapped. I want you to study them all and see if they can give me more hints about what we are really fighting down there. You are the only one who can safely do it, Blank.”

Next to you there were many tools, they seemed to be arranged in different ways, first there were the most obvious ones, the medical tools, then for some reason industrial tools…and finally the torture ones.

"Well...when my I was under commissar Oihan's command and we destroyed MegaPrison ZeroThree there was a psyker on our team. It said that there was a invisible red mist around us, a mist that sent people crazy and violent thoughts...Maybe there is something behind that mist?"

He seemed to doubt but in his years as a Inquisitor he faced weirder things. Reluctantly nodded to what his eyes saw as a half machine abhorrent man.

"Might be. Give me information about that psyker."

You didn't shake your head to negate him his request, doing so might have looked like a defiant act against his will.

"I don't have any sir. It was all redacted."

His chalk like eyes locked on your red senses. You wished to have true organic eyeballs to show him that you were honest but right now all he could see was the distorted reflection that your curved eye crystals showed.

He didn't answer; he just turned around and walked away locking the vault behind you. You looked at your servoskull with patience, Morti understood you better than any of those non-mechanicus people would ever do.

Communicating with the exterior was impossible, there was almost no coverage down there and even if it were the Skitarius couldn't take you from in there in a non-violent way. You could always try thought.

>>Examine some prisoner (1)
The most logic thing is starting from the first prison. It is also the place where all those weapons were cut and pierced.

There were three prisoners, all chained to the ceiling of their cells with mag-shackles and chains. Bionics were applied on their bodies in a crude and painful way with little to no care about their wellbeing nor hygiene.

A small terminal showed the next data:
>++ MegaPrison 01 ++<
Prisoners were used to work on the mines situated around the perimeter of their prison. Their main extractions were diamonds and sulphur. They were encouraged to be operated and substituting their arms with bionic tools that could cut or pierce the rock to reduce their sentences.

A small AdMech chapel was built to carry on those operations. Every day dozens of prisoners would come to change their arm with a saw, a drill or a perforator. Some of them even ended with both limbs replaced.

Unknown to them their sentences were never going to be reduced, they always died before. Their bionics were also rigged to explode in case they tried a rebellion or they started to fight and kill each other.

Along the text there was attached a picture of a prisoner working hard 200 years ago. The ones who were in front of you didn’t look like him at all.

They were gaunt looking and several spikes and nails were incrusted on their bodies. It seemed that they somehow managed to replace their bones with metallic counterparts since their skins were covered in stitched scars that showed how they were opened for the operation. Their ribs were ripping from their skin and sharp enough to stab a person, from their spines more spikes exited, some were sharp and plain like knifes, others were and long like claws. Both their arms and legs were substituted with heretical versions of the bionics that there were once constructed on the prison. Those bionics were piston powered engines that either ended in claws made from their own skeletal hands or used their sharpened radius as stabbing or drilling weapons. There was something similar on their legs.

It was something scary to see. Those thin and spike covered people turned their own bones into metal death tools.

The first one had all limbs turned into piston ejected perforators, it seemed that it was able to eject himself up in the air and fall down like a spiked ball of death.

The second one wasn’t very different. She had more spikes coming from her than the other two and had both legs and the right arm changed into clawed hands, there was a drill into her left arm.

The last one was dead, a hole in her chest big enough to fit your fist inside. She had clawed legs and both hands exchanged for drills.

You looked at them with your X-ray vision and what you saw horrified you. Inside their flesh there where thousands of fragments of metal and logged next to their hearts a stable explosive ready to explode when they died. Their metal and razor covered body would become a shrapnel filled bomb.

Besides from the dead one the other two looked drugged.

>Examine the bomb.

Those devices are crude explosives made to ignite and explode with a reaction caused by powder or chemical reactions.

They are hardwired to their hearts and programmed to explode when their hearts stop or are tried to be taken out without enough expertise. Considering the violent nature of those heretical servitor warriors it is obvious that those explosives are stable and that no matter how rudely they are moved they wont explode before time.

Looking at the dead one you can see why it hasn't exploded. A las shot pierced its heart perfectly leaving a charred hole and burnt cables. The unknown soldier who performed this feat didn't only kill the creature in one perfect shoot but also gave me the chance of surveying an autopsy on it.

I could try to disable the bombs and study them with more detail but there is the risk of them exploding.

You walk to the tool table and grab some forceps and a saw to cut the hole and force it to be open at all times. The smell of burn tendons, bones and muscle tissue hits your sensors and indicate noxious germs emanating from its wound. Seems like this prisoner has been dead for at least two days now and it has started rotting away.

The bomb itself is pretty much destroyed beyond any reparation. Before activating your X-Ray lenses you mutter the neccesary lithanies to the Omnissiah.

"Aktiva Cons Sequentia." Your clawed fingers moved towards your bionic eyes searching for a small button, as you pressed it the chant continued: "Blessed machine, a thousand pardons for my unworthy hands." With a small torch you burned some incense, the clean smell of it purifying the putrid odor of the body. "As the Seventh Universal Law Proclaims: "Comprehension is the Key to All things." After those last words the lenses activated letting you see in a new spectrum.

The body was also filled with shrapnel inside of it. Random chunks of sharp metal who where seemly inserted in a random interval and way. They just cut him open and shoved the metal, then closed and stitched the wound. Every step and movement would be incredibly tortuous for them, their wounds would open and bleed almost daily.

About the bomb pieces they seemed to be implanted by skilled yet uncareful hands. It was well constructed but didn't took into account the comfort of the user that ported it. It was just focused on being as explosive as possible while also fitting the prisoner's chest.

In one of the other two patients the bomb was so big that it had one of its lungs removed to accommodate it.

It seemed that they had some heretical techpriest on their side. Someone who implanted and did all those horrible things to them.

Since the bomb of the dead subject is of no help due to its damaged state the only way of truly studying them is the subtraction.

You get ready for the operation and meditate about the dangers it involves. If they explode not only you will die but some other prisoners might become free and run amok the HQ killing thousands.

"Omnissiah bless these circuits, let not the Ruinous powers of unfaithful machine spirit sully even the lowliest spark of thought"

The clean and sterile air of the basement enter inside your still organic lungs. You breath three times before continuing.

"Ubi concordia, ibi victoria"

As you say those last words you prepare yourself for what seems like the most tense moment of your life.

Using the help of a lift you manage to move the heavy yet malnourished female body to the operation table.

"Abundans Cautela Non Nocet." You mutter as you strap the drugged body and apply a mask to fill her with anesthesia.

Your lessons in medicae are pretty basic and to your surprise you missed the help of the primitive Fire in the Skin to aid you in this situation.

If he were with you he would have scolded you for the action you did. The woman was already drugged, the anesthesia wasn't necessary, in fact if became dangerous for the mix of chemicals that her body was brewing inside.

In her sleep she started convulsing and foam started forming on her mouth, she was suffering a overdose.

Without even carying of her health you just grabbed a circular saw as fast as you could and proceeded with the operation.

"From the rotting cage of biomatter, From the weakness of the flesh, Omnissiah save us."

With the calming effect of the litanies your hands were able to steadily cut her chest and rip her cage open, in front of you there was her quickly beating heart and the bomb waiting to explode at any moment.

Using your dendrites you grabbed a pair of wire cutter and a two industrial torches.

Your hands maintained the rib cage open as the cutters did their work with deactivating the bomb, if the cutters had to cut a vein or a blood vessel the torch quickly came and cauterized the wound on a unprofessional yet working manner.

Blood started filling her entrails and leaking onto the floor but that mattered not, the only thing that mattered was removing the damm explosive.

As the last wire was over you just moved back from the corpse that you butchered. Parts of her destroyed heart and lungs were slowly burning from the collateral damage that the torches did. If she weren't warped and tainted and her resistance weren't so inhuman she would have died far before he managed to remove the bomb killing them both.
>>
>>38196447
With the device placed in a safe you advanced to the only alive one remaining.

This time you don't make the same mistake, he doesn't needs nor deserves anesthesia.

Placing him in an empty operation table you repeat the litanies again:

"Abundans Cautela Non Nocet. From the rotting cage of biomatter, From the weakness of the flesh, Omnissiah save us."

Using the same saw you used on her you open him up, this was the one whose bomb was bigger and occupied the space were once one of his lungs was.

The ribs of this one are metal plated and covered in saws designed to shred anyone close enough to him after he explodes. You use a scalpel with him to remove any skin and muscle tissue leaving the bones exposed, then cut them and use a magnet to remove those weapons that are a sin to the human form.

After the process the patient lies with his chest totally open and its organs on the air. For his own good he would stay like this, if he dared to stood up all its organs would fall down killing him slow and painfully.

Removing the bomb isn't so hard this time as you know where and what to cut.

Besides the bomb defusing and extraction you disable its limbs and weapons.

The prisoner is alive, unable to move and unable to attack. It is a massive success.

>Examine the bombs

The bomb of the female and dead prisoner seems to be a modified frag grenade. Its power has been crudely increased with the addition of several powder poaches covered in ceramite to add even more fragmentation and explosive power.

What itches you is that this isn't enough to create a explosion big enough to send all its metal fragments flying far enough.

Another check with the X-Ray reveal that under their metallic shoulders and other parts like neck, hip and shoulders there are more explosive pouches that were once directly connected with the main bomb.

Those secondary bombs are unable to explode on their own but the explosion signal was able to reach them in the critical moment making the prisoners explode not only from their chest but pretty much all their body creating a killing shower of burning gore and metal.

The grenade itself isn't particular, it has just been added a simple and small mechanism that sends a ignition spark when the heart stops. What it is truly noteworthy is that the grenade isn't strange. It is a normal imperial grenade, someone out there has access to imperial explosives and its using them to create suicidal shock troops.

After looking the second bomb you get stressed, this one doesn't has just a simple grenade on itself...The heretic who operated this dammed and lost soul dared to introduce a meltabomb in its chest. How it managed to get one was something incredibly worrisome. While the explosion of this bomb wasn't as big as the one that the array of grenades could create the melta was by far way more dangerous.

It looked ancient and heavy yet safe and secure, there wasn't any danger coming from the two bombs now that they were out.

The tech priests already know some of it and are headed to investigate it pretty soon, the protagonist has been offered to join their expedition.

>also amazed the Inquisitor hasn't figured out that we aren't actually suppose to be a part of the Imperial Guard...considering the paperwork required never actually existed in the first place.
True that but I like to think that a stray techpriest joining a Commissar as a escort while possible is not a really common thing so if the Administratum may take years to do even the most simple stuff imagine how much could it take them to process something so particular.

Inquisitor shithead could still use this to attack the protagonist thought.
>>
>>38197148
>Tell of your discoveries to the Inquisitor
>Wake up the survivor and interrogate him

You send a insta-vox message to the Inquisitor telling him that while one of the prisoner died the other has been neutralized and poses no risk.

While you await his apparition you clean yourself from all the blood and stains. The cleaning station doesn't only uses holy water but also burns your skin with a chemical product that cleanses it from any kind of bacteria possible. After the process your skin is all sore and red, it hurts to even move your mechanical joints but you still thank the Omnissiah for such cleansing and bow slightly to offer your respects to the machine spirit of the station.

The inquisitor comes shortly after, he is now wearing a white and platinum armor with thousands of wards and inscriptions in High Gothic, it also has a cape formed from a big tattered scroll that relates how foul the weak minded people are and how they all deserved death. It was also noteworthy the great quantity of purity seals that addorned its crotch and shoulders.

On his hands there was a plasma rifle with the same decorative style as his armor and on his belt a mace that also shared the looks.

"Soulless techpriest, what have you discovered in the two hours that you have spent there?"

He spoke with the same contempt that he always used with everyone that he didn't consider truly pure, with the exception of her daughter. She was talked with soft and sweetness even as her condition as a psyker.

"Those prisoners haven't only been grafted with those bionic tools to use them as a weapon, some of their bones have been covered or directly substituted with adamantium variants."

You showed him one of the removed blade ribs from the surviving convict.

"Their hearts have been linked with a explosive device and modified to explode when the suffer a cardiac arrest. Several random pieces of metal have been inserted on their bodies to act as a shrapnel when they explode."
>>
>>38197653
Using your left hand you pointed to the two bombs.

"Those explosives have been acquired from Imperial armories, they are a standard frag grenade and a melta bomb respectively...In my opi-"

"Your opinion is as worthless as your life techpriest, it is pretty obvious that we have a traitor among our ranks, and that traitor has to be someone with access to the armouries and the ability to chirurgie those bombs inside them." He said cutting you out.

Do we have any reason to believe that the Hereteks doing this are traitors from within our ranks? Surely such a betrayal would need
-leaving the HQ for long periods of time (we can guess how long such modifications would take)
-suspiciously excessive use of armoury/manufactory (techpriests are monitored constantly, right?)

Perhaps it is more likely that the ones doing this are not turncoats from within our ranks, but techpriests who were stationed here and have been corrupted by the foul essence on this planet.

Your words flow trough your mechanical vox caster but sound incredibly human and convincing, it is sure that the Omnissiah knows that there is truth in your words and that those hereteks must be destroyed before they make more damage.

"It is true, those men expected weak prisoners and a quick cleansing that would have increased the number of "volunteers" for the penal legions. What they found was a planet filled with deranged men who have been changed far beyond human limits, we aren't fighting people anymore. Chaos is involved and that's obvious but I still don't have proof..."

He didn't ended his sentence but it was obvious what was he referring to. Exterminatus, the holy process of liberating the wrath of the Emperor and the Omnissiah on the surface of a planet. While the Inquisitor was able to order one it seemed that he couldn't be trigger happy about that, he needed real reasons to order one and a few crazy prisoners didn't seemed to be enough. You could tell him about the sealed daemon but that would lead to him questioning where did you got that information...

"Well, I could wake up the surviving prisoner. There is chance of him knowing whats behind all this."

With a simple nod he answered you, it seemed that he was able to leave his hatred and our differences aside when it came to dealing with serious problems.

"negative Inquisitor I am of the Mechanicus we are most prone to the understandings and workings of technology including where our tech will likely end up or be accessed to."

"Where one such as yourself or others will be forced to commit to sifting through adminstratum records. The admech are already in the know."

"For instance the lost armories from the guard depots here that have fallen or even perhaps adjusted admech facilities re calibrated to produce the required items."

"As is I have already found proof the tech heretics have misappropriated admech resources and facilities. It would be child's play for them to adjust them to produce other materials or more simply to loot lost armories that fell to them."

"If there IS a traitor among our ranks it is much more likely to be among the Prison Guards who were stationed here. NOT new arrivals for the heretics would not have had enough time to set everything up that would resort...in all of this."

"One's opinion always carries weight Inquisitor the question is how much. For instance the opinion of a death world savage in regards to the Omnissiah's teachings would be very little yes? Now what about a tech priest? That one's opinion would carry far more weight."

"As this is a matter of Admech matters and tech heresy my opinion is far from worthless. As for my life having value...all life has value Inquisitor. Rather the question is just how much or how little. I am a one of the few loyalist tech priests on this rock I am far from worthless WITHOUT even including the knowledge I have acquired here in regards to tech heresy."

"This isn't even including my value has a Blank which had previously been masked by the usual creepiness associated with my brethren. So NOT only do I know limited skills that are in especially short supply, I have the knowledge, and an accidental birth right which offers me special trait."

You strap him tightly to make sure that he doesn't stands up and dies, with some heavy smelling salts you managed to invigorate his spirit to consciousness.

The first thing he did was struggle and try to bit your clawed fingers.

"Halt your efforts foul shell of a man! The Inquisition is here to redeem your sins towards the Imperium and the God Emperor."

"HA! THE EMPEROR DOESNT CARES ABOUT ME, I AM DEAD FOR HIM AND HES DEAD FOR ME!!"

The Inquisitor slowly placed a gauntlet looking item with long clawed fingers that ended in needles.

"You see...this a a modified neuro gauntlet gifted by some friends. Every finger is able to spin, vibrate, shock and inject some weak yet painful poisons, even do the four things at the same time if I want..."

He activated the vibration mode and its fingers became a light grey blur way too fast to be seen by even my augmented eyes, it looked like his fingers disappeared. After that he made a swift movement and a long straight cut appeared in its tight, it was so precise that it took its body a few seconds to understand what happened and start bleeding and suffering pain.

"YES GOOD, BLEED ME UP FOR M'LORD KARNUS!"

Rodan the inquisitor didn't answered, he deactivated the vibration and switched to drilling mode, the tip of his fingers became straight and started spinning. He shoved it directly in its still organic knees breaking and piercing them from the other side. Blood and Sinovial fluid spilling as he tortured and maimed his right leg.

"Start talking foul or my punishment will be worse than anything that that Karnus could do to you."

"HAHAHAHAHA!! NEVER!!" He laughed like a madman.

"Very good then." He apathetically answered while switching the mode of its gauntlet again, and sending a painful electrical current across its clawed fingers.

He grabbed her crotch and sent and massive current across its testicles, after that all his body shuddered and he pissed himself in reaction.

>Work on studying other prisoners.

You tried to ignore the pain yells and maniacal laughs and headed yourself towards the cages of the second MegaPrison.

This one was situated close to the lava sea and like in MP Zerothree the temperature was higher and in some cases lethal.

It seemed that the citizens of ZeroTwo adopted a different culture. Whereas the others were savage cannibals who feared the darkness of the Crystalline Underdark those were men that found on it a way of running away from the guardsmen.

According to the report they were already awaiting form them even before the ship exited the warp, they lived in a constant state of paranoia of being attacked by the imperial forces or the other prisons.

All their buildings were rigged to explode when that moment came. They secretly built thousands of tunnels that led to the underdark and even if they didn't knew what was inside they thought it was safer than what would happen in the surface.

Attached to the report there was a graph-recording of some soldiers reaching the Prison only to find it empty, from time to time there can be seen some shadows that move fast, the last ones who try to lure the soldiers and exit to safety.

Once all the regiment was inside the perimeter all the building exploded killing three quarters of the total. Most of the survivors were tank and vehicle crew.

With the buildings down all but once entrance got sealed. For a unknown reason the explosives or a entire living block didn't ignited and since the inhabitants were unable to seal their exit started committing suicide by cutting their jugulars or shooting themselves in their heads.

A chimera was able to reach the intact building and stop four prisoners before they killed themselves.

They don't seem violent but despise everybody that isn't part of their prison. For some reason they had access to explosives, slug pistols and blade weapons of crude yet effective manufacturer.
>>
>>38199242

"You did a good work with the bombs, a shame you didn't killed the other one too, but hey I guess that he's getting what he deserves from that scary guy."

Said a prisoner looking from his cell bars. He whore a full bodysuit of thermal suit and donned a pretty good respirator. His lenses glowed in a eerie pale yellow color.

Next to you there was a box of requisitioned items that included the weapons they took from them. Inside there was a revolver whose frame was apparently made from a single piece of forged steel that made it look sturdy and durable yet way too heavy to be used comfortably. There was a long knife that had a small scent of fruit and vegetable residue on it, it was a kitchen knife not a real weapon. The explosive was a plastic one that shared the same color of the walls of the prison and was pretty much invisible unless you knew of their existence beforehand. Maybe they didn't explode for the lack of litanies and rituals that they suffered for the long years they had been waiting for,

"Why are you afraid of me, prisoner?"

"Well, you are a person with a visible skull and your jaw doesn't moves when you talk, that's creepy. I could go on and tell you why looking at you is cringey."

If what he wanted was a execution you wouldn't give him that pleasure, you were a student there, not a killer.

"Why did your people go to the Underdark?"

"Are you kidding? Look at these freaks!" He said pointing at Lanky and the other prisoners. "We tried to isolate ourselves, make as less noise as possible, try to be ignored for when this happened and then run away. We aren't going to be part of the problem but neither the solution, we will just survive on our own."

"Yes, but why the Underdark?"

"We knew what awaited out there, soldiers in one direction and blood freaks in the other, the Underdark wasn't the worst option, besides there was always a cold breeze coming from it. The entrances to it were a common place to chill before we escaped."
>>
>>38197968
HAHAHAhahaha
>>
>>38199529
Now let's get the identity of their supplier.
>>
>>38199529
You were surprised by its statements, they didn't knew what was in there nor how to survive yet they thought it was better than affronting their problems.

"And what later, die of starvation or dehydration?"

"We were hopping the crystal tunnels weren't eternal, if we managed to find some rocky surface we could always grow some mushrooms and filtrate humidity out of the walls. If we didn't we could always try to break the crystal away somehow, and even if everything that could go bad went worse dying of hunger was still better than being butchered by those..."

Even if the prisoner seemed to be civilized to some degree it was obvious that he was also kinda mad like the rest of the people that lived in this dammed planet.

I don't know enough about 40K lore for this.
These prisoners are pretty much doomed, right?
BLAM'ing is a certainty for the 'maybe' corrupted prisoners, so we can't offer any kind of plea bargain.

>Ask him about how their group didn't go insane (read: more insane)
>study their weapons
>can we do a biopsy from a distance, or will we need to get up close?

-"So where did you get these? Who's your supplier?"
-"Tell me about the layout of the Underdark. Anything else of interest down there? Dangers? Other people?"
-"Why did some of the other prisoners kill themselves? It sounds like what happened at the other prison..."
>>
>>38199766
These prisoners were doomed since the first moment, the guard came either to kill or imprison them. The ones who were trapped would be turned into penal guard and fight suicidal missions, if they survive they might be given the chance of being pardoned.

Also the next update will take a lil bit longer, I'm going to eat dinner now.
>>
Maybe, we could convince these (marginally) less insane prisoners that perhaps the Penal Legion would be a step-up from the current chaos-infested hell-hole they currently live on.
>>
>>38199656
>Move to other prisoner. (lanky!)
>>
>>38199656
>Ask him more questions.

"Who's supplying you with your gear?" You ask.

"Uh? Nobody. We just used all that we had around including the guard's equipment. There were also some blueprints and we had tools. When something breaks and reparation isn't possible we just separate its parts and smelt them to build them again. It is true that we needed to smelt some stuff to get more metal but nobody is going to miss a metal door or two right?"

They created machines apparently without taking in mind all the rituals and sacred processes but those weapons seemed to be way more finely crafted than the others in comparison and since they were built from real schematics and the renewing ritual was done correctly those machine spirits didn't seemed to be angry but neither as developed as those weapons usually have. Dumb yet working spirits inhabited those creations.

"How did you got those equipment?"

"The others could attack us at any moment, since the moment your grip is strong enough to carry one of those you are taught how to use them. We aren't warriors but neither fools."

"How is that your people didn't went as crazy as the others?"

"Its just this place. It enrages you. No matter were you look all you see is black and orange. There is almost nothing to do or see. The people slowly turn crazy and need to kill and hate people to relieve their stress. Most prisons kill each other and anyone that gets in their reach, the guard isn't much better, they maim as much as the rest of the prisoners, the only difference is that they don't kill each other...most of the time."

The prisoner used gestures to signal a pointed cap and imitated the execution carried by a Commissar accompanied by a noisy "BLAM!" onomatopoeia.

"What we did was hate everybody as twice as the rest but kill no one. Don't think that if I weren't here behind bars I wouldn't try to kill you skullboy."

I'd rather wait for the inquisitor to leave first, likely when he's busy from what he learned of the interrogation. He'll likely ask that we call him once we're done with all of them.
>>
>>38200292
"Tell me about the layout of the Underdark. Anything else of interest down there? Dangers? Other people?

"I guess that the ones who made it know that answer. All we know is that a cold breeze came from it and that we were banned from getting close to the entrances at night, probably because of the risk of tripping in the darkness."

"Why did some of the other prisoners kill themselves? It sounds like what happened at the other prison..." You ask, reviving for a instant in a flashback the terrible thing and how after their death the ascended Noctum appeared.

"Uh? We heard some noise and explosions coming from ZeroThree. But we didn't expect them all to be dead, we knew those were some tough motherfuckers. Hell, there is still one of them in there."

He says pointing at Lanky. You unsheathe your blade and slid your clawed hand across the bars, grab him by the nape and point the shiny weak powerblade against his neck.

"Answer my question, scum."

"We wanted to kill each other because we failed our mission. If we went to the Underdark the guards would have followed us and we would have risked the life of all the citizens..."

>Ask him about the blueprints he mentioned.

"What about the blueprints you mentioned, what happened with them?"

The prisoner looked back, in his same jail there were other four people also totally covered in thermal clothing and masks. Two of them looked him back, the other two seemed dead or asleep, impossible to say.

"We knew that the escape plan would destroy everything so we took some of them, the others are safe."

Recovering those blueprints was necessary, only Omnissiah knows what kind of knowledge do they have.

"Why have you said citizen instead of prisoner?"

"Because we didn't wanted to call each other prisoners. When the uprising came instead of fighting the guards the most clever of us allied with them. Then the ships left and left all of us stranded We are descendants of both guards and prisoners. None of us is really guilty of any crime. We could think of it in two different ways; were were all, including you, prisoners of this damm place or think of ourselves as just citizens of a MegaPrison that became a city. It gave us back the few respect that we thought we deserved."
>>
>>38201139
A now bloodied Inquisitor appeared and joined the conversation.
"Seems like your people isn't as crazy as the rest, yet I don't think that nobody would want to have such cowards anywhere...Best thing we could offer you is joining the penal legions or let the Priest there turn you all into servitors."

The best option gave them a life full of war and stress yet a false sense of liberty, even if the chance was incredibly small if they joined the legions they could be redeemed and reinserted into the normal imperial society. Becoming a servitor while soul dulling would be safer for their lives and they would expect to live even centuries.

"Inquisitor Rodan. I will now inspect those weapons in the AdMech cathedral were I will have more tools at my reach. If you excuse me."

He did let you do as you asked. You were already useful for him and those weapons didn't seemed tainted so taking them out was safe.

"Yes, take your time, blank. I'll be pretty busy with those cowards."

He grinned and his pale face contrasted with the dark blood of his clothing. You grabbed the guns and moved away, experiencing once again the decontamination shower.

After exiting you saw the two guards with their nose bleeding and slowly suffering from having to spend so much time under the influence of the psyker kid. You felt the need of knocking her out again and helping those two but you remembered how violent they were when they kidnapped you... With a simple shrug you walked past and went directly to the Cathedral.

As you ascended you sent a message to Kontaros, the gunslinger skitarii and told him about the safe and already empty entrance that MegaPrison 02 possessed. While you awaited for his answer you reached the small weapon and armor manufactoria of the Skitarius.

Hm...shit if they are descended from guards then they may in fact not be utterly damned for the sins of their forefathers.

Especially considering their forefathers stayed loyal with the guards.

In other words they are the closest thing to loyalist natives in this hellhole.

How troublesome...

Wait do they have any guards, prisoners, tech priests or whoever among them still alive since those times?
>>
>>38201249
MegaPrison03 had a small techpriest temple so it is possible. You will need to travel there to see what do you find.

Once we do that in their base components lets scan them again to see what else we can dig up.

>Contact admech and guard forces to see what can be done for them.

Since they managed to stay true it wouldn't be quite right to screw them over as penal legion fodder can at least try to get them something a bit better even if its just a bit more admech support for em.

They are the closest thing to loyalists on this rock and need to be treated accordingly.

As for the hate all we got to do is channel it For The Emperor. I bet a ecclesiarchy will have a field day teaching them how to channel all that hate.

Probably should grab a fiery hearted priest of theirs when we go see them for a good proper sermon they could appreciate.

>>38201510
True we could also ask them about contacting their fellows for a talk.
>>
>>38201473
>>38201548
Look, how about we fit the talkative one with a explosive collar "Don't think that if I weren't here behind bars I wouldn't try to kill you" (maybe a disguised one) then go down into that section of the underdark to try and convince all the 'loyalists' to get out of that corrupted hell hole and into (maybe) a penal legion.
>>
The next message is almost written, sorry for taking long It's just that I got in wikipedia to check the different compositions and alloys of metal and hell that stuff has lots of options.
>>
>>38201682
I'm not saying that the penal legions are the best place for the 'loyalists', I just think it would be a hell of a lot easier to convince the inquisitor (not even going to mention what High command would think of it)

>1º: Scan the weapons to understand their composition.
>2º: Disassemble the weapons to understand their workings.
>3º: Contact admech and guard forces to see what can be done for them.

First the knife goes in the scanner. It is made from the same forged steel as the gun. It is dark in color and gets shinier and more silver in color in the edge of the blade. The composition goes as follows:

>48% Iron
>22% Cromium
>18% Nickel
>10.5 Titanium
>0.9% Obsidian
>0.1 Unidentifiable material

And for the gun:

>51% Iron
>22% Cromium
>15% Nickel
>11% Titanium
>0.9% Obsidian
>0.1 Unidentifiable material

Those elements weren't the most ideal ones but It seems that it was the best that they had lying around and they work.

Disassembling the knife was impossible. It was made from a single piece and covered with some rope on the handle to make it slightly more comfortable.

The gun was composed of only a few pieces, the frame, the barrel and the internal mechanisms. The handle like the knife was just part of the frame and covered with some cloth for some comfort.

After that the assembling machine got enough instructions to create those weapons and added them to its own database. Creating them wasn't the best idea thought, it would require more materials to do so compared with other more refined weapons. The time to create them was incredibly short compared with the other weaponry thought.

With that done you meditated about what possible hope those prisoners could have. They were scared yes but not crazed like the others, they were the closest thing that the guardsmen here were expected to encounter. The original mission was to cleanse part of the population and boost the numbers in the penal legions, if anyone was able to achieve that even after all those plan changes it would be a incredible boost in their career

>Go back to the secret and holy basement.

You cannot get Lanky out of your head, specially not after seeing what then Inquisitor did to the other prisoner. With the weapons safe on your pouch you travel back to the basement.

The two big bodyguards aren't bleeding anymore but they seem pale and one of them has puke stains in the ceramite of his armor.

"Be a good girl!"

You yell at her as you pass by. She feels surprised and even scared, seems that her father nor anybody has never been strict with her before. If anybody confronted her she would mindscramble them, a normal trained psyker would be able to destroy someone's mind but as she was little more than a infant all she could do was give migraines and she used it as a tool to get whatever she wanted. You were different, her powers were useless with you and even if his "Daddy" hated you he knew that you were useful for him.

Unable to counter Heracor she did as he ordered and left the two poor men alone for the first time in several hours.

The shower felt good and shorter, maybe because you were clean already, maybe because you already did it and you knew what to expect.

Once inside you found the naked and spread body of Lanky on the same table were the other prisoner was tortured, he was now lying dead on the floor with all limbs ripped and blood leaking from its anus.

"Stop!" You yell at him as he his about to endure the same torture that he applied before.

"Oh...It's my dear friend the blank techpriest. What brings you now to this place, scum?"

He moved around and got closer to you, pressed all the buttons of his gauntlet and it started doing all things at once. Vibrating, spinning, generating electricity and injecting poison...with the few amount of flesh and blood vessels in my body even if that poison was designed to torture it would probably kill me.
