You gather your powers, you need to be quick, undetectable, and transport your allies despite not being able to use your teleportation abilities.

As you and your allies fade out, the world warping around you, the black swords come falling down. Not a one of them makes contact and you are your allies appear in the Waystations food cellar, the only place you could think of big enough and sturdy enough to house the warmech, for now at least.

You’re almost dead on your feet, but you know that you didn’t manage to conceal your psychic power use, you’ll have left a definite signal for anyone to follow you, still, with Lord Reaper unable to scry, hopefully that will take some time.

“Shee we need to move!” says Kaelyn urgently

“What?” you reply

“My father!” she says, just as Lirael climbs to her feet and stares around in confusion, both Rainya and Dev are still out of it “He’ll be coming!”

“He can’t” you say tiredly “He can’t sense anything at a distance, I took that from him.”

“He’s a lord!” says Kaelyn “He has servants, other fae who answer to him, and the effects of your psychic power are so obvious even I can feel it!”

Ahh shit....

You can’t go stamping around the waystation like this. You shrink down to your normal size and extend your tentacles, peeling Dev out of the warmech “Grab a Rainya would you?” you say to Lirael and Kaelyn, each of them picking up two of Rainyas bodies, as you pick up the other two in your tentacles and all of you head up the stairs as fast as your exhausted limbs will carry you.

You can see the doorway ahead of you, you pull open the doorway and you all stagger through, those of you that can walk, at least, safe at last, for now. You slump down, exhausted.

“My father” says Kaelyn bitterly “My own father.”

You struggle for something to say, as the Rainyas and Dev slowly shake off the despair. For you it’s gone completely.

You struggle to your feet, ready to fight, even if you can’t win. You concentrate and Reaper and his allies are surrounded by a massive steel box, which shatters into fragments, and then they keep walking towards you. You summon boulders, sea-monsters, all sorts of horrors you can think of, but nothing stops their advance, until once again Lord Reaper has you suspended by your throat, his fist squeezing the life out of you. Is this his favourite pose? You feel sorry for his lovers.

The other Fae corral your allies, keeping them from you, one grabs Kaelyn and pulls her away, she punches him in the throat and he doubles over in pain, two more grab her. Your allies look ready to keep fighting, but you wonder how you can possibly win.

“How dare you lay hands on my child” hisses Lord Reaper “you don’t have the right!” Your vision starts to grey out.

Something vast bursts from the ocean, an island big enough to rival the one you made. It rises and rises and rises, resolving into a massive, vaguely humanoid head. Shoulders and the rest of the body follow it, until your ocean only laps around its ankles.

Down from the sun descends a figure of burning light with red skin and fiery wings.

At the same time the entire sky turns black, and a shadowy dragon of darkness drifts slowly down.

A monstrous sea beast rises, showing a beaked maw and dozens of lashing tentacles. “How appropriate” says the Ichor, to Lord Reaper “I was just about to tell you the same thing.”

As the other fae back away, and look at the exit hopefully, Lord Reaper stands his ground against Baalzamon, The Ichor in the Depths, The King of Hell, and Jagganatha.

“What” he says, enunciating every word clearly “are you doing here?”

“Our agreement was simple” says the Ichor “no hunting the Reunited, not unless they broke laws, in which case appropriate punishment was allowed.”

“This thing!” says Lord Reaper, shaking you violently “Took my daughter, payback is in order.”

“Your daughter went willingly” rumbles Jagganatha.

“She is under age!” says Lord Reaper “I decide if she went willingly or not!”

“Much as I don’t like it” says the King of Hell “He does have a point, sort of.”

“Family is important” agrees the Ichor.

“But what if there were stronger ties” whispers Baalzamon “or some other loophole, after all, what are rules? Nothing.”

“What do you propose?” says Jagganatha

“A choice” says Baalzamon “Our Reunited can choose to save girl, or betray her and let her go back to her father.”

“No!” thunders Lord Reaper “I will not-” a casual slap from one of the Ichors tentacles sends him sprawling, even as another delicately wraps around you, supporting you.

“I agree” says the Ichor in the Depths “I will offer to save the girl, for a price.”

“As will I” says Baalzamon “Of course”

“Either way you make a powerful enemy” says Jagganatha “I’m in.”

“No good ruler abandons those who follow him” says the King of Hell, hovering above you “I agree, the terms?”

“She can ask a favour from one of us” says Baalzamon “but to make more interesting...we tell her the terms, if she agrees, she must only promise to complete the allotted task and” he turns on Lord Reaper “any attack on her accept under the usual rules will be a violation of the agreement.” Lord Reaper climbs to his feet and yells “I will not stand for this!”

“Then sit” says the Ichor in the Depths, slapping him with a tentacle again, knocking him down.

“If she refuses” says Baalzamon “Then whomever she asked withdraws the offer, and she can ask another, until all options are gone, of course, she can also choose to hand the girl back to her father.”

Oh great, you think, you can ask one of the Four for help, and they’ll set a price on Kaelyns life, refuse that one, and there are three chances left. And they don’t seem to want to tell you the terms of their offers until you pick them, no pressure...

Kaelyn walks up to you and lays a hand on your arm “It’s ok” she says “I’ll go, you don’t need to bargain for my life, I’ll go.”

“He’ll brainwash you” you say “He’ll make you forget.”

“True” says Kaelyn, tears in her eyes “But what else is there?” she kisses you on the cheek “Thank you for being my friend Shee, thank you, I really will miss you.” and then turns to go.
