It doesn't take long for you to get yourself back into regular clothes.
Ones without frills or lace or less cloth than the average napkin.
An overall improvement.

Elle, apparently satisfied with your embarrassment, has moved on to making actual clothes, rapidly burying Lann beneath a pile of excellently tailored sets of clothes. And also a gorgeous cloak, which the half-elf has already swapped into.

"I though you would wait till it was dyed, yes?"
"My cloak was nearly a decade old. Do you know what that smells like?"
"Dirty elf?"
"Yeah, it's- No, not like dirty elf. Like ten years of sweat and dirt and blood and everything else it's been dragged through."
"That's what I said."
"Hilarious."

You shrug, smiling.
"Would it have been easier to dye the cloth beforehand, though? I am thinking the folds and the hood will change it now, yes."
Elle interrupts, speaking around a needle held neatly in her lips.
"She wants brown and green and grey, yes. Ugly, ugly things. I am not interested in making clothes like that."
Lann gestures to your sister with a lazy hand.

"She said it. I'll dye them later- Anyway, uneven dyes make for better camouflage. Better ugly than dead, right?"
The weaver snorts.
"Get stronger, then."
"I'm half-elf not half-spider."

>That's your cue! Do some training. Maybe speed. Or midair web dodging.

>>
>>38020476
yeah i think it's never realy been brought up what the color of our clothes is.
>>
>>38020401
Elle probably wouldn't even want us to fight in a ballroom gown. It'd get all frayed and tattered, and you know how she is about her silk.
>>
>>38020502
So next time she gets uppity, we need to start fraying bits of nicely woven silk?

Perhaps some nice heat deformation?
>>
>>38020502
well, it WOULD give her an excuse to make more gowns.
>>
You need- in order, no less- Exercise, distraction and training.
Getting caught by Elle and Nin, even with their cheating... it's a little embarrassing.

So you'll combine them all!
Exercise and training for you, and the distraction of giving lessons to the resident moth and snake.
Jin needs a bit more room to train, and Sheszka is finally starting to wake up, at least.

You voice your opinions to Nin, who hurries off to grab her training gear- returning with a light wooden rapier and a spark in her eye. You set her up to run through forms. She's been training with your Mom on and off, hasn't she? It'd be best to check where she is now.

And as for Ezzy-
You unwind the snake from your neck dropping her down to the arena floor, where she immediately spools back into her coils. You snag one of her 'weights', a simple stone, from a pile of similar pieces. And then you drop it on top of her.
It's smaller than she can lift. Warm up is important.
You don't want people hurt.

"Lyyyyyraaaaa."
"Yes?"
"The ssstone isss too cooooold."
You sigh, planting a finger against the center of the rock, veins glowing in your hands already.

It only takes a few moments before the lamia is making satisfied noises, and move back into your own work, running forms and shadow fighting.

Ugh.

Barely ten minutes in, and already...
You're kind of rusty, at least in regards to the disciplined workouts your mother would inflict.
You shake yourself off, just a little, and push back hard.
Training doesn't beat you.
Nothing beats you.

You give little hisses as you push yourself, spear swinging and sweat stinging your eyes.
Half pressure release, half spider-growling.
You move through the patterns you've been taught, been drilled with, speeding up, slowing down, over and over.
>>
>>38020606
Nin is right beside you throughout- not at your speeds, and not your patterns- but she gives her all just the same, lunging, dancing away from imagined attacks, parries and ripostes.
Not bad at all.

_________________________________________________________

You cool off easily enough.
Your shield fills with water, which you then dump over your head, washing away sweat and plastering your face with your own hair.
Jin gets a laugh from it.
Nin refuses the impromptu shower, but steals the buckler to have a drink.
And Esmerelda-

Ezzy apparently found the rock to be the perfect temperature, and coiled around it for a nap.
You prod the snake.

"Nnnnssss-"
"Lazy snake."
"Lamia."
"Lazy lamia, then, yes."

"Not lazy."
"Workout involve work, yes. Not sleep."
"What?"

She half uncoils, pushing away from the stone and looking down, wiping at her eyes.
"Oh."
"Oh?"
"I was tired."

You smirk, offering a hand. She yawns behind her fingers as she twist up your chitin, perching on your shoulder and stretching.

>If you are awake now, maybe you should hunt your own dinner, yes?

Nin has an even greater need for moth babies.
>>
>>38022017

Then we simply have to evolve parthenogenesis.

And we -already- have fluffy spider baby stories, so getting more would be pointless.

"Well, then."
The tiny lamia cocks her head at you- not so much in confusion as it is an attempt to lean around your face and look you in the eye.

Which is hilarious and adorable all the same.
"If the lazy snake is awake-"
"Lamia."
"Then she can hunt her own dinner, can't she?"
"What?"

You grab her again, raising her high above you as you clamber off the side of the arena.
"Onwards, yes. To food!"
Jin manages to hop behind you as you go- when she's conscious, it seems her grip is strong enough to keep her anchored now.
Of course, it is dependant on the laziest harpy of all being conscious.
And it is probably a very good thing that your skull is basically indestructible.

Jin has some serious talons.

Ezzy on the other hand, squeezes her eyes shut and clings to your fingers all the way down.
Dad shoots you a strange look as you pass him by out of the nest.
Not enough to say anything, but enough to look up. Maybe that's lucky?

You reach the forest floor in no time at all, at which point you have to wait for the two girls clambering down the ladders to join you.
You left Lann behind, but she's on vacation.

Standing idly at the foot of your house, being glared at by an angry snake. Lamia.
"That was unecessary."
"When you grow up, one day you will thank me."
"I am an adult."

"Yes, yes."
"You-"
"Why do you hiss sometimes?"
"It is a warning. 'I am about to bite you now go away'."

"What? No. I mean when you talk, yes? Like, sometimes would be sssometimesss."
She reddens under your questions, turning her head so her hair hides her face.
"It is- It is just a bad habit. It is not anything to worry about!"
"Oh, I see, yes. A bad habit."
"Sssshhhhh!"

You giggle a bit, heading out once you're joined by your friends.

It isn't the easiest hunt.

They are several degrees apart. Maybe more.

IT'S TO LATE ANON! THE /U/ BOATS HAVE LAUNCHED! SAVE YOURSELF! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IrJAwCBbnuc
>>
>>38022444
Definitely more.

Not impossible, though.
Creeping through the undergrowth- creeping above the undergrowth- you find a small group of horned rabbits.
Just rabbits.

Not electric rabbits or murder rabbits or devil rabbits or anything else.
Rabbits.

You unleash the snake.
Ezzy tries to shoot you a dignified look as she slithers away, but it's heavily masked by her non-existent stature. Oh well.

She creeps up on a smaller rabbit- and strikes.
She flashes out of a pile of leaves, snapping herself around the rabbits neck and sinking her fangs in as the rest explode outwards, fleeing with everything they have.

Unfortunately, Sheszka is there, with a canines inevitable instinct to chase things.
They taste good, at least.

Esmerelda's victim twitches a few times, leg kicking weakly as venom and a definitive lack of air take their toll.
She uncoils all at once as it stills, raising herself as far as she can, hands on her hips.

"Sssee! I can hunt for myself!"
You applaud, though you can't resist the comment.
"You are hissing again, yes?"
Her hands clap over her mouth a second later.

_________________________________________________________

Dinner is pleasant enough.
Ezzy actually seems happy to be eating her own kill. A mark of pride, maybe? Or a bigger thing for a Lamia?
No, when mom sent you hunting... She was very proud, too. A monster thing, then.
>>
I'm personally fond of the Esmerelda route.

Tiny Snek will eventually become bigger Snek but will always be Tiny Snek and have Tiny Snek vs Giant Spider arguments that lack any sort of venom despite being Snek and Spidah.
>>
>>38022500
Has Ezzy not been hunting on her own before?

She's already eaten herself fat, her coils lumpy with the amount of meat she consumed, her length half around your neck- and her human body flopped across your shoulder and further.

"Thank you."
"For the hunt?"
"Yes."
"Is it that big of a thing?"
"For monsters. A part of growing up."

"Then you...?"
"No. I was- I am- Even the hissing. It is something children do. I shouldn't be..."
"It is fine, yes? Not something to worry about."
"I don't know."
"Lyra hisses when she gets angry, yes."

"Thank you, Jin."
"You do?"
"Spider language is hisses and clicks, yes. So, when I get a little too upset-"
"You hiss and click."
"Yes."

The lamia chuckles to herself, coiling tighter, hugging her own length as she leans into you for heat.
"I will remember that, then."
"Mhm."

Why isn't it a realistic thing for spiders?

Fucking sharks do it all the time, hell, Hammerhead sharks do it.

So do crayfish and various other crustaceans, it's common among insects.

I dunno, the /u/s seem to be pretty serious about this shit.

We are pretty clearly doing exactly that.

But currently it can't.
>>
>>38022844
Feels like it's the hetfags more though. Partially because they keep trying to shoot down every idea while putting forth none of their own. It ends up feeling like they're trying to kill other people's good time as a result.

Not sure why you are so intensly butthurt about this.
>>
>>38022924
Every time a hetfag brings this shit up, you guys immediately shoot it down just as harshly. And then you go on to claim it's always the hetfags bringing it up.

I dunno. I reserve my judgement on how good a pairing is until a I actually , you know, know anything at all about the character.

I figure his personality would be sort of relevant to deciding that.
Find it rather odd that it isn't to you. But no accounting for taste, I guess.

Until he says 'you will be able to romance X, you can't romance Y', replacing either of those with dudes, ladies, monstergirls, normal humans, nobody at all, absolutely everything, etc, it's not nipped in the bud at all. Well, it can't get nipped in the bud anyway now since it's no longer bud-time as it were, but you know.

Languid nipped things in the bud. REQM certainly didn't.
>>
>>38023623

>>38023670
I find it odd that you think we've gotten absolutely none of his personality when we've talked to him a few times and have at least a bit of it down.
Almost as if you are arguing for an objective rather than for what would be fun.
>>
>>38023722
All I'm asking from you is a single time someone brought up het romance that wasn't shot down instantly.
He usually gets several responses when brought up. Usually dedicated to whatever excuse can be used to keep us from talking to him more. Currently, they're on "b-but he has no personaaality!"
>>

>>
>>38023803
well, we've talked to the guard a few times, and have a pretty good handle on him being one of them "young hero" types.

The centaur though, yeah, we need to enact plan arachne-in-disguise if we want to talk to him.

Either that or just hang from the roof of his barn until he returns home, which is way more invasive I argue so it's a bad idea.
>>
>>38023743
It's true though. He's a non-character. Talking about romancing him is retarded. Comparing romancing him with one of the gang is insulting. This is separate from the het/lesbian thing. If people were arguing to romance Nin's sister or whatever, that would be an actual fair comparison to talking about romancing guard dude.

Not that these anons would joyfully romance an actual male character of importance, but come on.

No. It'd be just giving people something specific to argue about, it'd be just worse.
REQM doesn't want it to be a thing, so he doesn't bring it up. And thats the right way to do it. He doesn't let us decide at all.
Because he doesn't want it to be a thing right now.

>>38023818

I've been questing for years anon. Is this YOUR first quest? This is a terrible approach because it leads to, well, this thread. Unless you're saying that this thread is, in fact, a mass-hallucination and if we load up the archives tomorrow we'll find a surprisingly short thread of high quality in its place, saying REQM has or is dealing with this issue well is blatantly false.

I've played through the worst waifu wars and with the best and most harmonious playerbases on the forum. I was there throughout Psion Quest. I was there in a quest that unanimously chose a waifu against 7 - 8 other characters. I'd say I have an idea of how handling romance well works. Part of that is recognizing that it's dependent on your playerbase, and it's easy as shit to see that the longer this is left unaddressed because 'it's not time yet', the bigger the bitchfest about whatever is decided in the end (regardless of what is decided, yes even if it's a 'romance whoever you want' non-decision). Actual romance can wait, clarifying the bounds of said romance should definitely not.

Because we've had him and the old man stuck together as a comedy pairing numerous times.

Of course there's only two people in the thread, what are you, stupid?
>>
>>38024073
No, the old guy is paired with a different one each time.
They don't show up as duo.
Did you honestly think it was always him with the old guy?
Understandable, I guess. Considering he literally has no other character trait except "he getrs scared".

Centaur boy going on his first date worried about the barnyard smell

Little Harpy girl desperately trying to figure out how to hold someones hand

A Lamia trying to get up to eye level with a boy she likes

A little moth not wanting to admit to her father she likes being petted

It's only a new guy sometimes, anon.
You're lying for the sake of, I don't know, making it so we never attempt to talk to a guardsman or something?

It's weird how averse you are to talking to any male characters for any length of time.
>>
>>38024073
Stop it.

We're talking about centaurs now.
End of story.

For example: I think they have horse related evolutions. Like pegasus, or Sleipnir.

Somehow- Against all odds, against the titanic forces arrayed against you-
You manage to wake yourself up at dawn. Before everyone leaves the nest for the day.

Maybe you can learn enough enchanting to invent things.
Like alarm clocks.

Waking up is hard.

Not when there's monsters involved, of course. But when there's warm sunlight and warm blankets and nothing to do.
Emergencies are easy.

You pull yourself up with the same sort of difficulty, slowly yawning and stretching yourself into something resembling a fully functional and awake member of society.
Spider society.
You almost nod off a few times, but with Ezzy wrapped securely around your throat, all you manage is a head dip. The second your chin contacts her rough scales, you snap back awake, glancing around before slowly starting to drift again.
You wonder what it takes to wake up early and stay up.

Coffee?
Does this world even have coffee?
And wasn't there something about spiders and coffee anyway?

But you're not really a spider, right? You'll look into it later.

Mom is up first, thankfully. Which allows you to bother her much easier.

"Well, well. Look who is up early this morning, yes."
"Is it you?"
"This is normal for me, dearheart."
"It's me, then?"
"Yes."

"I want to go back to sleep, yes."
She raises an eyebrow, smirking and waiting.
"Is there a reason you haven't yet?"
You blink slowly, rolling the question in your mind.

Questions? Questions...
"Questions!"
Your mother chokes down a laugh as your head snaps back up, loudly proclaiming your intent. She's even considerate enough to give you a few moments more before she tries to prod you along.

"And that question is...?"

"Stuff."
"Stuff?"
"What kind of stuff. What kind of stuff do you need for adventures, yes? Or traveling. Or caravan-ing."
"From dazed to full speed. You are a wonder, little one."
"I am a giant spider."
>>

But seriously he's kinda a nobody to us.
>>
>>38024138
She laughs, and beckons you to follow, leading you upstairs and into her treasury. Her voice trails behind her as you descend into the tree, echoing lightly in the enclosed space.
"Normally, a good start is clothes, bedding, travel gear and extra food, yes? And you build from there."
"Build?"
"Depending on what you are doing."
"Caravan-ing."
"Mhm."

She steps lightly at the bottom, leading you towards barrels and chests of stored goods.
"In any case- We are arachne, yes. And we can skip blankets and clothes if need be. You should still take them, of course. It is just not as bad if you lose them."
"Okay."
"A map and compass are a bit more important. Do you know how to use them?"

"The compass points... north, yes? And you need to look for landmarks."
"Yes, yes. You can even use the stars to tell exactly where you are. With the right tools."
"Really? How?"
"Magic, I think."
"You don't know how, then."
"Your father does, yes? And I cannot use magic, in any case."
>>
>>38024131
I'm not writing the conversations anon. I don't decide how long guardsmen conversations go.

You are just really reaching now in your pathetic attempt to make this another shipping war thing
>>
>>38023641
Lann is squishy, yes, but she's a far more experienced adventurer than that guy and she's a ranged specialist.
>>
>>38024163

Well, neither can you. Not without help. You nod along, and she continues.
"Extra food is important. Always, always. Dried things, things that won't spoil. We eat a lot, yes."
"Mmm."
"Rope, you can skip. Hah. And fire starters, torches, you can skip. People take hatchets in case they need small amounts of lumber and the like. To build tents... But you have your magic. And you would need a very large tent, in any case."

"I would need to pull a whole tree over, yes."
"I may have done that."
"Yes?"
"Twice."

You share a laugh in the warm light of magic, and she starts to pull bits of kit out from all over. A neatly folded map, a worn compass. Cloths and bandages, what looks like magical stones, they all vanish into a backpack- Well, a squared sort of sack with a single, wide loop. Maybe for your waist?

You mother turns to you, loot in hand, a proud smile on your face, stepping up to you.
She stops short of actually handing it off, leaning forwards and squinting.
"Ah."
"Ah?"
"I think your little snake has grown a bit, yes."

Well, that would explain why it took so little movement to touch her with your chin.

Oh hey Ezzy evolved. Into a scarf.

It's interesting that Lyra is so off kilter in spite of her lifetime of memories as a human. Also, lacking certain skills such as map reading, but that's to be expected from a IT person from a future setting: no real call for it.
>>
>>38024254
>It's most likely they're always the same guy whenever they get scared, as only a new adventurer would be scared of arachne around here.
Lyra is the only arachne who comes to town, except her siblings. We got explicitly told that.
And Giant Spiders are pretty damn scary.

What gets shot down? Romance attempts?
You don't need excuses to not romance the first carrier of an Y chromosome to come into view.
>>
>>38024286
shot down the idea of him having any more screentime, us ever being friends with him, any idea of romance, whatever.

Any idea that mentions him is shot down immediately by people like you.

Even the ones where we are out to spook him because it is known he is easily spookable.

Long story short, there's a lot of shooting down going on in this quest, not just one sided.

A spider girl giving her father a poorly hand made tie for father's day

I'm sure I can do more....

This thread alone is delicious fodder for many arguments to come, about how the /u/ menace will do anything in their power to remove the fun from any conversation about male characters.
>>
>>38024451
Why can't you let a guy have his fun, anon? Why do you gotta shoot it down when someone wants to talk about the guy?

I've suggested it several times in the past. Each time it was met with ... uh... I actually don't think anyone really reacted to it. Certainly no one was violently opposed to it.
>>
>>38024464
We don't actually ever scare any guards.
The only two times we did, it was both times explicitly him.
He didn't get mentioned as being the junior adventurer ever again after we saw him last after we evolved, and he was paired as guard with Lann.
>>
>>38024520
I've reacted with TOO OLD a few times.
Other than that I love the guy.

>>
>>38024540
>I'm not shooting anything down!

Let the guy like what he likes you fucking hypocrite.
Either that or you candidly accept every single time someone bitches up a storm about waifufags when people talk about nin.
>>
>>38024532
I would like to know where you are getting the "two" number from, since it is at least several.
>>
>>38024547
Getting /tg/ to stop arguing romance (or anything) on purpose is hopeless. It can happen by chance or QM intervention only.

Besides, if it keeps up maybe it'll actually make REQM address the big elephant in the thread.
>>
>>38024590
Ideally, he just will come out and say "no romance you guys" and let us continue adventuring.
>>
>>38024583
Because I don't remember anytime of him being mentioned except when we first came to Oakring and the second time after we evolved.
Both times he was mentioned as the "junior adventurer", and after that last time, we didn't encounter the particularly young guard again.

And since he was pointed out specifically as that particular person both times, I would think he would have been pointed out as that guy again, if he would have re-appeared.
>>
Anyways, fuck all this.

I'm sick of people wanting us to get bigger.
We're already critically big, and possibly even too big.
>>
>>38024564
>Let the guy like what he likes you fucking hypocrite.
He's free to like, but whining about how we never interact with him because that's not what the majority wants is fucking idiotic and that's the sole thing he does.

"I JUST WANNA HET INTERACTIONS"
"well fuck why don't you interact with male characters that have shit to interact about and will likely get votes in support"
>>
>>38024607
he already did
>>
>>38024590
No he won't and its good that way.
Adressing romance in a quest not having it as active thing has never ever brought anything good.
It would just make things worse, because then people would startk thinking their asinine shitposting about it could actually influence something.

He's bitching about shut down of ALL HET, not about that specific guy.
>>
>>38024636

It was addressed- specifically that monsters won't get romantic till between something like 6 months to 2 years old.

From any viewpoint, that looks like a 'no problem writing romance, but not at this juncture' message.
>>
>>38024759
I agree, but last time I argued that I was drowned in tides of how much we have to go romance our bird, moth, or wolf.
>>
>>38024731
>is flighty about arachne when he was the only one actually shown to be that way with any regularity.
Well, regularity being twice.
In fairness, I don't actually remember any particular flightyness of the guards towards us except those two times. So there is that.
>>
>>38024753
>So you're saying you wouldn't shoot down someone trying to romance blacksmith?
>jumping the goal post from "interacting" to "romancing"
>>
>>38024799
I remember several times, with less flightiness each time.
Almost as if it were a character getting used to arachne presence.
>>
>>38024731
Honestly, until he showed up beside Lann I assumed he had been shipped out.
That people were nervous about him pulling swords around arachne and sent him to train at an adventurers guild with less monsters.

I just assumed he was from a farm town somewhere nearby, and had come to the village instead of the city because he was an idiot who got lost.
>>
>>38024810
You're the one changing goalposts, as originally it was a /u/ complaint that hetfags were always the ones shooting down romance, and the counterargument was that /u/ fags did exactly as much romance shooting down. Which, you agree, they do.
>>
>>38024836
All romance is getting shot the fucking down and that is well and good.
>>
>>38024814
You saying you remember is all fine, but Lyra has recognized him both times as that person,
so I'm gonna assume it wasn't him, unless Lyra actually recognized him as such.
And I can't remember that having happened except those two times.

Which is why I asked for cititization of those alleged "constant conversations".
>>
>>38024857
While I agree all romance should be shot down, I cannot stand by while one side of the waifu wars claims the other side is the only one shooting things down when both of them are.
>>
>>38024738
Anon please. I was in Psion Quest.
But please, tell me what was so much worse.

>>38024759
As I said, that's not addressing it or dealing with it, it's literally putting it off while letting things fester. And this is THE WORST MISTAKE YOU MAKE. The way to deal with romance arguments is to clearly and succinctly inform your players where the lines go, and what can and cannot happen, as soon as said arguments start to become a bother. Time and time again a shitstorm has happened because anons disagree on romance -> QM says nothing and lets both sides duke it out in the threads, working themselves up more and more and getting more emotionally invested in their preferences -> inevitably when things get decided, the anons on the losing side, due to said investment, bitch up a fucking STORM when it happens, often egged on by some poor winners as well.
>>
>>38024753
They don't.

Also, we would shoot down the blacksmith, he would shoot us down. He knows how old we are, and he isn't a lolicon.
>>
>>38024867
I ask for countercitations of gate conversations that don't include him.
Just like how I was asked for citations of how spiders DON'T have parthenogenesis.
>>
>>38024875
I wasn't claiming any of that.

I only take umbrage with guys pushing for wasting QM's time on retreads of one-note jokes.

"I'm a spider!" - "AUGH! *faints*" is literally all there is to the gate guy and interactions with him.
Same with the centaur. He never fucking showed again, stop talking about him.
>>
>>38024890
This entire argument got started because one of them was so indignant about nin being shot down that they claimed that hetfags are always the ones shooting things down, and they take whatever too seriously.
To claim they don't is an outright fabrication.

Listing good reasons why things don't work, like "that's not actually possible" or "they don't actually like us" are included as "shooting down" by their definitions.
>>
>>38024945
Fuck you, I want to talk to that centaur at some point.
It is a challenge.
For that matter, I want to talk to scaredy guardsman, fatman and his family, that guy who fought us once in armor, and our spider army/cousins again.
>>
>>38024886
>But please, tell me what was so much worse.
My point was there is a pretty significant gap between this and Psion Quest levels. And this is pretty tame as these things go.

I want to go take nin back to her family at some point before we go, to have a good visit.

I want to hang out with the snakes at some point once we get ezzy bigger.

I want to steal some of the wendigo moss to have a private garden. probably on our back.

I want to make a good house for elle so she can peddle her wares.
>>
>>38024950
I think it was the hetfag. The one who was insistent to argue with everyone and "This won't work because I say so, don't bother" and it escalated from there.
I don't even think those suggestions were that serious, just anons goofing off. Would have probably faded out on its own fast enough if it was left alone.
>>
>>38025017
According to thread 47, that was literally the first time we didn't recognize the guards.

Up until that point it was always scaredy guy, lann, and old man.
>>
>>38025075
How many times had we visited the village at that point? With guard scenes that is.
>>
>>38025054
Yes, yes, you can accuse the other guy of taking things too seriously, just as you take things too seriously.

So, uh. Yeah. If you don't want people counter-citing you, don't ask people to counter-cite you.
>>
>>38025240
More than twice. Obviously, I already said as much.
First trip, and post skull trip.
>>
>>38025258
I asked specifically so I would have instances of /u/fags clamoring to do anything they can to shoot down the idea of talking to him without needing to archive binge.
>>
>>38025285
Ah, so you're a troll. Got it. Well played. Now fuck off.
>>
>>38025308
Nah, just slightly more honest about my intentions than just claiming I was joking or not being serious.
>>
>>38025285
Well no one is stupid enough to do that. You can go now.
>>
>>38025285
But he didn't shoot that down at all. he just provided evidence we haven't talked as often to him as you claim.
That has nothing to do with future conversations.
>>
>>38025376
>providing evidence
>not shooting it down
So talking about how spiders don't actually do parthenogenesis isn't shooting things down either?
>>
>>38025399
You don't have evidence for that though. Because this is a different setting, with magic to boot.
>>
>>38025399
I'm not actually sure what exactly that'd be shooting down, givent hat its not relevant to anything.
>>
>>38025399
Well when you're being so anal about it it can certainly come off as such.
For one, I think we're past that now. Clearly I was mistaken.
>>
>>38025448
>asking people to prove a negative
All spiders shown have no parthenogenesis capability. All magic shown has no ability to cause this either. AND real spiders don't do it either.
>>
>>38025506
>All spiders shown have no parthenogenesis capability.
Before Lyra volved we could say the same thing about shaping metal with your mind.
>>
>>38025478
>pointing out how we don't actually have the capability to do any of the things a guy suggests
>being anal
About as anal as repeatedly pointing out a character a guy likes is a noncharacter and we should never see him again because we have more important things to do.
>>
>>38025506
>This shit again.
Seriously, didn't we have that argument already? And aren't you reusing old points, which will get the same counter-points in reply?
>>
>>38025542
>and we should never see him again
Never see him again=/=not actively seeking him out
We will see him again when REQM feels like making a joke involving him again.
>>
>>38025539
That isn't actually as relevant as it sounded in your head, as you are still asking someone to prove a negative.
Also, metal was explicitly listed as an element we could have rolled long before.
I don't remember "reproduction via budding" being on that list of possible magics.
>>
>>38025506
Nobody asked you to prove it though, unlike the scaredy-guard thing. If people had seriously suggested it at some point, REQM could easily affirm/deny.
>>
>>38025570
Okay.
Before we found the necklace we could say the same thing about magic that can store things in extradimensional spaces
>>
>>38025567
The counter-points were "stop shooting down our precious /u/shipping".
And now we're onto discussion on whether it is truly shooting it down. which apparently isn't.
>>38025575

>>38022847

>>38025592
You're still not making any case for parthenogenesis. It's like claiming that because we found giant squids, OBVIOUSLY there are dragons.

Please produce the dragons.
>>
>>38025506
>>38025625
Also, multiple species of spiders are actually parthenogenetic, just saying. Theotima minutissimus is the most well known one.
>>
>>38025625
>You're still not making any case for parthenogenesis.
I'm not trying to. I was just pointing out that
>All spiders shown have no parthenogenesis capability.
doesn't have any merit as argument.
>>
>>38025643
And this is the part where I claim you are taking it too seriously.
>>
You grin hard enough to feel it in your cheeks, bring a hand up to your neck, stroking along her scales.

You can't see them just yet, but they feel rougher. More pronounced.
Still a single, cohesive surface, but- Bumpy? Scaly?
Reptilian scale patterns were not your particular interest.

The little snake grumbles, one hand falling free of it's grip, slapping sleepily at your fingers.
You snag her digits carefully, tugging at her arm, holding it far enough out that you can see it.

And then you start in with the baby speak.

"Oooh, lookit this little arm. Lookit how big it is! Our tiny snake is growing up!"
You cackle at your Mom's expression, at the angry muttering beginning to float from around your neck.
There's a lot of hissing mixed in.
Probably snake swearing.

"Issa big girl gonna wake up? Is she?"

Ezzy pries her hand free- You can't hold on too tightly. Not without hurting her, anyway.
Then she slaps blindly at your chin, her hand clapping against your face.
"Sssshu-up. Sssleeping."

You prod her again, and are rewarded with another hiss.
"If you don't wake up, you won't get to see how big you've gotten, yes."

There's a moment of silence as she tries to process what you said.
A slow, timeless instant where her sleep addled brain snags on the idea, rolls the words around.
>>
>>38025662
>basic pattern recognition?
>NO MERIT!

spiders don't do parthenogenesis in the setting, bro.
>>
>>38025675
And then the explosion of flailing, twisting, unwinding snake-girl as you laugh, catching her easily in your palms after she wriggle her way entirely free.
Her face, her entire body are flushed with excitement, the sensation of her heart pounding through her whole body. She looks to be almost four feet, now. Probably a few inches shy. Her hair hasn't changed much, if at all- but her scales have darkened all over.

She does have a trio of rings right before her scales give way to flesh, though- beige brown beige.
It's the sort of thing you'd normally miss.
It's the sort of thing that'd normally be under clothes.

You avert your eyes as you think about it.
Nobody else grew quite so drastically.

Her dress is more of a halter top, in any case.

"Ha... HA! Hahahah! I am an adult! Yes! I knew it! I knew there was a secret! It worked!"
Mom gives you a look and a shrug, and you smile.

"An adult, yes."
"Yes!"
"We will get you some adult clothing, then."

She looks, down, past the hem of her now too small tunic.
A blush crawls across her face, but she puts her hands to her hips, and meets your eyes anyway.
"I am an adult and proud of my body."

You nod, and head back into the sunshine with your mother trailing behind.

>>38025682
Which is the point at which I repeat.
Before Lyra evolved the same was true for metal shaping, and we haven't actually found out if any spider we met has parthogenesis. For all we know they can, we have no proof Lyra can't do it.
And even less she can't develop the ability with evolution.

If the best you can do really asking someone to prove a negative? Is that the end result of all your argument? "Oh, we can do it, because even though it's never been a thing in the setting, the setting it's based on, or the magic system, I want it to be a thing!"?

Please provide proof.
>>
>>38025731

>>
>>38025792

For what? I have already proven the possibility exists. I don't have anything left to proof.

>because even though it's never been a thing in the setting
Is your argument seriously that the setting can't possibly have anything it not yet shown?
>>
>>38025731

>But it's been proven we've seen him at least three times, if not more.
No, it wasn't. We have met him twice, it was always said we met him twice, and we have yet to get a prove for a third time.
I'm still waiting.

And "three" times, is still far away from the earlier claim of "constantly".

Yeah, the arguments make the thread hard to follow.
>>
Step one, at least, couldn't get any easier.

You make it down to the nest in no time, crawling over family and friends alike till you reach Elle.
The you shake her, twice, ignoring the murmured complaints, and lean down next to her ear.
And whisper.
"Elle, we need clothes, please."

And then you snap your head back so fast you nearly give yourself whiplash.
Because the alternative would be a headbutt from your sister at something approaching mach two.
"Mmnmnm- Clothes?"

You hold out the mostly naked snake, still posing with her hands on her hips.
Elle pinches at her hips, her scales.
Ezzy attempts to complain, and is summarily ignored.

"Arms."
"I still have arms."
"Arms up."
Now there is a tone that brooks no argument.
She actually sounded like Mom for a minute.

A few more lightning quick measurements are taken, and Elle looks away, already pulling out silk and thread.
She has stacks of it.
Stacks.

And she still sells more to the town.
That is all sorts of impressive.

Luckily enough, there's other things to interest you at the moment.
You start by poking the snake.

"Stop that."
"Your scales are rough now, yes. What else has changed?"
She glances down to your hands.
>>
>>38026624
"How can you tell if anything is rough through this?"
She knocks her knuckles against your chitin.
"I can even feel your heartbeat through it. It is very sensitive."
"Really? So when I squeeze, it hurts?"
"No."

She scowls at you.
"Why are you angry that you can't hurt me?"
"I should be stronger!"
"I think there is a difference between stronger and 'crushing arachne chitin', yes."
"That's... probably fair."
"Mhm."

"So."
"So?"
"What else has changed, yes?"
"I'm bigger."
"I meant things that I can't tell just by looking."

She crosses her arms, frowning and thinking.
"I don't think there's anything new. I feel... happy? energetic?"
"Those are new?"
There's another blush.
"Yes?"
"Mhm."

"Well, those are good things to have. And you are quite a bit larger, yes."
"Yes!"

And then Elle turns around with what appears to be a handful of lace.
"Arms up, yes."

I keep saying we need to drink more food.
We also need to eat more silk.

You can make rocks. It's a nonissue.

Lann does indeed have pants.

While you (and your family, father and sheszka excluded) are fully capable of digesting your own silk, you use venom and saliva to break it down, leaving you dehydrated and incredibly thirsty.
Nobody likes doing it.

Ring Lamia. Generic evolution.
Larger, rougher scales, overall improvements to stats and abilities.
Much more venomous than before.

>>38026714
You'll have to ask!
(Older than you.)

>>38026719
I'll see about getting it done before saturday's thread.

>"I don't think there's anything new. I feel... happy? energetic?"
>"Those are new?"
>"Yes?"
I don't think that's specifically because of your evolution, Ezzy.

So Sheska has inherited our venomous fangs?
>>
>>38026881
She actually might get those.
>>
>>38026881
insert crack about how she wouldn't as that is an elf power, and she is a spider wolf.
>>
>>38026837

That depends... maybe there is a snake evolution which allows for the creation of multiple types of venom, some not being harmful in nature....
>>
>>38026766
>>38026714
I think there's a good chance that she's actually slightly older than us. I'd say no more than one or two weeks, /maybe/ three at the most.
>>
Additionally, I feel we should sell or give out disgusting meatshakes to people.
Mostly for the laughs.
>>
>>38026921
Plot twist, wolves age at something closer to a human standard?
>>
>>38026917
Like an adrenaline shot, or an anesthetic?
Or just a zesty drink?

Can we get some hobbies for Jin and Sheszka, to flesh/round them out?

Maybe when Lyra talks about navigating by the stars with Erics, Jin sits up and takes up a hobby of stargazing.

Not sure for Sheszka however.

Yum.

>>38026917
Not exactly the point I was getting at... but hey, why not. How would she even get that evolution, anyways? Poison variability is mostly a moth thing, after all.

>yum
You betcha.

Also we can determine which of the villagers do squatz and oatz by seeing which come back for more protein shakes.

>hobby for shezka
A batman scenario, except instead of going after criminals she goes after warbands.

Something, those 2 are the ones that feel pushed aside by snarkier and more interesting characters, with more personality.

Something so their life does not consist solely of Lyra and sleep.
