I once had a gold dragoness NPC that was like that.
A complete bookworm, a pacifist, with a soft spot for things that looks cute (protip: when you're a fucking dragon, a lot of things looks cute compared to you).
As a side note, due her doing a pact with the fey deity where she got immortality and access to all the books in the multiverse as long she worked as a librarian for that deity, and the fact that dragons keeps growing 'till they are alive in that setting...she was rather fuckhuge in her natural form. So, even if a complete nerd and a pacifist, she wasn't someone to mess with.
>>
>>38019739
Compared to other dragons, she was probably out of shape.
>>
>>38019991
But with dragons it's quite literally "age before beauty".
A fit healthy dragon would still get it's shit pushed in by an out of shape dragon of the next age class.

Yeah, she kinda was. And with no combat experience whatsoever (well, she hunted when she was younger, and then preferred staying in her cave sending kobolds to fetch her something while she was reading), but virtually speaking...she was several "age categories" past great wyrm.
On another note, though, she passed a lot of her time in half elf (or elf, depending on her mood) shape. The bigger you are, the harder it is to flip pages of a book.

Great, now I'm picturing a plot where a queen sends out dragon hunters to 'avenge' her late husband. Dragoness reveals that consensual snuu-snuu is what slew the king(fat, out of shape, but still holds a vast swath of land in his grip), and the Queen wants to snuff out the possibility of half-dragon bastards hungering for their birthright.

I know some article in a Dragon magazine had gloves to allow a massive creature to manipulate tiny things without penalty, explicitly for dragons.

But if you're beyond-great-wyrm, anything listed in a rulebook should basically be a cantrip for you.

>>38020317
I've no idea how you made that mental leap.
>>
>>38020583

Oh. That. Well, it was also less about flipping the pages and more about reading them too. It's hard to read fine print when your eye is bigger than the book itself. So, she just did a simple shapeshifting, and call it a day. Less problematic for anyone, and she had more odds to have someone to chat pleasantly with , without risking to accidentally crush them.
>>
>>38020077
I'm imagining a horribly obese, millennia old gold dragon gasping between words as she's telling people where the history section is.

And some young bronze dragon looking at her says "Damn, she's hot as fuck".
>>

I don't think dragons get obese.

Dragons and nerds are both arrogant the key difference is that nerds are undeservedly.

A dragon can fucking kill you with little to no concern for consequences or repercussions.

Pseudodragons, fairly dragons and other puny things are not dragons.

>>
>>38020583
If you to get technical, the dex penalty for size increase whether it be due to magic or monster advancement is (among other things) supposed to represent the difficulty from manipulating things smaller than you
Dragons keep dex 10 no matter what size they end up, meaning that even great wyrms are able to manipulate human sized objects as easily as an average person is

Depends on who you ask, a fair dragon might compromise on the point but an unfair dragon would probably say fairly dragons aren't dragon enough and only a very dragon counts. Meanwhile the ferry dragon doesn't have an opinion but will give you a ride down river and don't bother asking the ferrier dragon unless your horse needs shoes. but if you have some time to spare you could spend the day out with the country fair dragon

That would depend on the setting and the rules native dragons follow.

I'd say that dragons would lose their draconic advantages when polymorphed into a humanoid creature, but only weaken them if they just shrink down to the size of other humanoids.

Yes, but using a dragon's strength it in the weak human form can cause the illusion to shatter and you'll start seeing scales ad what not at stress points. So if a dragon in human form can hit in the eye by a lightning bolt, you'd see a peak of his reptilian eye before he reconstituted the spell.

This is headcannon, I just thinks it's cool when a PCs throw a fireball at the mysterious merchant they think is swindling them and then, oh shit, it's a dragon.

>"This is unacceptable, humans! A collectable is a collectable not because its rare, but because it's beloved! I was thinking being able to turn into a humanoid, but still keeping dragon strength, toughness, endurance and skin hardness (possibly being a bit denser than a human too - so they're noticeably heavier than they should be)

If it was a rare ability, even for dragons, it'd be good for both surprise and making legendary tales.

I like the idea of the eyes giving the game away, and might extend it to teeth as well.

It might be useful for a less antagonistic dragon, being capable of interacting fairly easily with human-ish sized people

>>38017627
I've always wanted to do this. I had an idea for a dragon who kidnapped princesses, who would later return home claiming to have been rescued by heroes. In actuality, the dragon did really kidnap those princesses, but kept them well-accommodated and only kept them around long enough to create an identical magical construct of the princess. Once the process was done, the dragon would send the princess home with orders to tell others that she was saved by heroes... or else. The magical constructs were part of the dragon's gallery, of which he was very proud.

Dragon collects princesses the way some people collect bishoujo figurines. He really loves his collection. Rumor has it that another couple of dragons do the same thing with famous warlords, kings and heroes, using their constructs to play elaborate war games.

In Dragon 313, they presented a series of Draconic Disorders, basically a series of 5 physical or mental breakdowns that dragons could experience. One of them, Riddling, was basically Dragon-Autism.

The Dragon basically ran into questions even its powerful mind couldn't answer, and the years it spent turning these thoughts over and over and over in its mind have changed it: It gains the Lawful Subtype, it gets a +6 to Int, a -4 to Wis, and uses Int instead of Cha for magic, and becomes vulnerable to maze spells, and riddles. Specifically, if you beat it in an opposed knowledge check (representing answering a riddle), it becomes fascinated for 1d10 rounds.

It can only be cured by someone answering enough riddles in a day. However, each riddle answered adds a 5% chance the dragon goes berserk and starts murdering everyone, while still bellowing out his next puzzle or riddle.

Answering the last one forces the dragon to make a Will Save. If it succeeds, it becomes a normal, well-adjusted dragon. If it fails, its mind collapses, and it loses sapience. (Int drops to 1. Forever.)
>>
>>38032965
So it becomes The Riddler, only it's actually a threat instead of a criminal that is like every other criminal, only he wears green and is easier to catch.

One of the adventure hooks for riddled dragons directly compares them to "the crazy villain in a comic book or a detective story", noting that they almost never just RAID nearby villages, no. They have to leave cryptic warnings, and clues of their targets.

I also like that, if you keep outsmarting it, there's an increasing chance the dragon spergs out and goes FULL CAPSLOCK .

The other disorders are also kind of cool. One is basically Dragon Insomnia (which, for creatures that can sleep for centuries, is hellish), another is basically bulimia: The dragon gorges itself, even compared to other dragons, unable to stop eating until it's consumed an insane amount of food, but then burns off that fuel with excessive breath weapon use and elemental power literally pouring off of it.

Then there's the Spellhoarder, who gets obsessed with magic, and his scales turn into scrolls, and the Nameless, who went full paranoid, and realized NO ONE CAN USE MY NAME AGAINST ME IF NO ONE REMEMBERS IT. It's right, but destroying that connection also destroys its sense of self, and its ability to do magic.

>>
>>38033567
They're still getting made.

>>38033510
Dragon mom is adorable. I want to hug her and make cookies with her.
>>
Oh no. Sister's setting up for some dragon /ss/. Not sure I can handle this.
>>
>>38031838
Well I just finished.
I really enjoyed it more than I was expecting.

>/ss/
Glad I decided to waste my time doing other shit instead of clicking that link.
>>
>>38033990
It's not actually smut. It's really good.

>>
>>38033990
It's a cute story anon. The /ss/ is just hinted at. It never happens.
>>
>>38032370
>It's a Korean comic
>It's 2 guys too instead of a guy and girl, so I highly doubt there'll be X-rated stuff.

Poor sweet summer child.
Luck may have saved you this time, but it won't always.
>>
>>38034010
What I really like is how lighthearted it is about everyone's social awkwardness. Keeps it from being cringe comedy.
>>
>>38034040
I can't read pure cringe.
This is kinda generally cute though.
You may be on to something.
>>
>>38034040
Yea, I couldn't stand that manga that had that otaku girl be in those horrid situationss.
>>
oh gosh chapter 36 is just too adorable
>>
Damn, so this is like, every two weeks or something?
>>
>>38017884
>the dragon uses its scrying network to exchange anonymous messages with other dragons, lamenting its lack of a human waifu
>>
>>38017884
Is this just something by a /tg/ drawfag? I want more but google image source only goes to archived threads.

>He thought he was talking to another dragon.
>he was funny, friendly, made him laugh
>he thought it wouldn't be dangerous to give out his personal information! they could meet up and hang out
>only he wasn't a dragon... it was a female knight!
>don't trust anyone you meet on the internet!

>>38033813
Jesus Christ, the day in the life of dragon mom chapter was stupidly cute. I love it.
>>
>>38034518
If anything that would encourage them
>>
>>38020413
Shit, that's actually a fun idea. I wonder how long I could keep it going without them noticing.
>>
Since we're discussing mango, anybody hereread Centaur's Worries?
It a slice-of-life of centaurs, fauns, snakepeople etc.
It has some pretty good worldbuilding between the everyday stuff

>>38017627
So the dragon will be desperate for social contact? I can seduce this dragon.
>>
>>38028860
I can't find her in the 3.5 one
>>
>>38034460
the style reminds me of some korean webcomic. Maybe someone on /tg/ translated it.
>>
>>38034518
This isn't her first time either. She's had years of practice.
>>
>>38034460
>>38035970
From memory it's a recent /v/ fad
>>
>>38035210
I stopped reading when the focus started to shift to the toddlers. The first parts were pretty cool though. Sasasul best girl.

The dragon language does to have a past tense, due to their nature as shards of Aka. They experience all time at once and have no concept of the past or future
