Goku isn't a genius, but he's got enough wisdom to understand when doing something for the greater good is needed. He probably also put together the idea that getting a massive power boost for virtually no actual lives lost is as beneficial as it can get. Gohan as we can see is more Lawful Good, while Goku is more Neutral Good.

We can only hope this is the darkest we'll go. We did a pretty bad act, but we're obviously not beyond redemption.

You stay this way for a while, staring up into the sky, watching the clouds slowly roll by. Icarus stays with you, providing warmth and giving an occasional encouraging lick or nuzzle, just trying to comfort you as best he can. It's nice to know what at least one friend still likes you. Although, besides Goku and Gohan, nobody knows what happened.

You think about how everyone would react. Yamcha would probably be shocked and disapprove wholeheartedly, Tien would probably disapprove, but understand. Piccolo would probably accept it as necessary, Chiaotzu would be shocked and appalled, as would Krillin. Haya would probably kick your butt for it, and with the rate she's improving, she should be able to before long. Billy would probably just think it was cool that Goku and Gohan are Super Saiyans now, and Kazuma, well, you're not entirely sure what he would say.

Your eyes grow heavy, and your body feels more and more exhausted. It's certainly been an emotionally draining day, but, you're afraid of what sleep could bring. After all, you've been having nightmares even without what happened today, you doubt any sleep will be restful at this point.

Unfortunately its the fact that we purposely put gohan through the worst nightmare anyone could ask for (in the dbz universe) is why its so bad.

We had a damn good cause, the survival of thousands, but it hurts like hell to do that or live through that, and gohan has a dragonball mentality of "Everything will always be fine because of my dad and the dragonballs" (in this case KAGUYA and the dragonballs) so its worse for gohan because it seemed unnecessary to him.

I was thinking about the future of the Alt Universe where Kaguya and Bulma were the only ones to survive the trip back from Namek.

Androids win, but Bulma can't complete her time machine without anyone's help. Cell absorbs Androids, and views Earth as his personal playground. Carrying the cells of enough emperors and protectors, Cell becomes Earth's new guardian. Purely for selfish reasons to keep Earth as his slaves and cattle, but nonetheless it's HIS slaves and cattle and he'd rather have a healthy population of them than have them die out.

Likely releases Buu anyway because Muh Saiyan Pride, and I honestly can't figure out who'd win Cell (with Kaguya's cells) vs. Buu.

You stare at the sky for a while longer, feeling yourself grow more and more weary. You need sleep, and decide to get it in your own bed rather than outside.

Leaving a now sleeping Icarus where he is, you get up and go into the house. You don't see your parents, so you figure they're working. Your mom will probably be back to make dinner soon.

You make your way upstairs , going to your room and climbing into bed, slipping under the covers and closing your eyes. Tired and drained as you are, sleep finds you quickly.

You find yourself back on planet Namek, standing at the edge of a crater. Vegeta's corpse lies within it, and Goku's lies nearby. You see no sign of Piccolo, Krillin, or Gohan, but you do sense a familiar power nearby.

Frieza stares down at you from a nearby rock formation, though not in his final form as you had expected.

The alien tyrant is in his base form, still wearing his armor and scouter, and giving you a curious look.

"Hmm, I came expecting to engage in a slaughter, yet it appears I've arrived a bit too late," he observes. "An unexpected situation, and one that raises some questions I would very much like answered. Tell me, who are you, and for what reason did you slaughter these fools? What have they done to earn your ire?"

They killed Gohan, Piccolo, Vegeta, Tien, Krillin, Chaiotzu, and Yamcha. I don't know why but he didn't mention me, us, whatever. Maybe we died before then, or maybe we never fought alongside our friends where he came from. There are some lines that we shouldn't cross, and I think what we just did to Goku and Gohan was crossing that line. What's the saying, "the road to Hell is paved with good intentions?" If we continue down this path we're gonna end up mentally fucked and possibly even be forced to fight our own friends.

We have to show strength in not doing certain things "for the greater good," because we are a Super Human, we have to hold ourselves to a higher standard and higher morals.

Personally, I think we should absolve to never cross the line again.

At some point if Vegeta is still around we need to talk to him about what we heard and saw. We should apologize to him for how we had been a dick to him. In character we just assumed he was a giant asshole who did what he did for fun, not with a purpose.

I think we need to cut some slack for our pas self here. This poor guy just woke up, and sees the lifeless bodies of his friends scattered around him, with a an older version himself in front of him, claiming he killed them. Let's try to explain things first, and ask for his calmer input

The simple fact is we went edgy in DBZ. A series where the edge tends to grow at the END of arcs and we did it in what is essentially filler territory. We're also being proactive while DBZ's moral compass is very reactive. We caused suffering with the excuse that we were preventing more, but this is a world where death is unreasonably cheap.
I don't think we should cross that line again.

I'm scared that training won't be enough. They had hit a wall, and weren't getting stronger. I couldn't risk them, everyone dying. We weren't strong enough to save Yamcha and Tien from Vegeta. The younger you has vanished, all that's left is the Kaguya you are now, and all there will be in the future is the person you choose to be. What you said to the past you was true, you can become different from the desperate person you've become, you can go back to the old ways of pushing yourself beyond your limits and helping your friends to do the same, so you can stand against the darkness side by side. Of course, you know doing so carries risk. And it's a risk you have to decide if you're willing to take. But you've done it before, and with friends at your side, you've overcome impossible odds and done amazing things.

If you want to, you can do it again.
