A flicker, a crack, a scream of pain fills the meeting room made of light and liquid gold for several minutes, shaking the gathered angels to their core as they watch the demon devour their fallen warrior like a hound upon a deer or perhaps a sheep. Their disgust and surprise quickly turns to fanatical hatred and screams of anger as they watch the feminine form tear into their comrade's flesh and bone happily with a smile upon its face.

"Rest in peace brother" A thing like a ball of fire surrounded by shards of glass formed into wheels sighs "We shall avenge you"

"In do time, we need permission to go after it" a thing that looked like the human's who souls they protected so valiantly says "or have you forgotten that so readily"

"She'll grow stronger than we can deal with by time we get permission again!" The thing shouts angrily, flaring intensely "We must act before it is too late to stop it"

"WE CANNOT ACT WITHOUT PERMISSION!" A thing with a lions mane roars "We cannot break the codes that bind, or else we are no better than the tormentors"

the orbs falls silent, and leaves the room, as the others glare angrily at it, and the demon feasting on the corrupted flesh, smacks, cracks, tearing sounds, and slurping filling the room before the image flickers away with a buzzing sound and vanishes.

"Rest well brother" The all say sadly as they slowly get up and leave to go attend to more important duties.

"Demon" The old man asks as he rocks back and forth in his chair as he stares at his farm.

"Yes ancient one?" I ask turning towards him smiling.

He stares at me with a tired look in his eyes as he brings a pipe to his mouth and takes a deep breath in with it, before turning back towards his farm and blowing out a gout of smoke into the air, where it slowly floats towards the sky...is that how clouds are made? I'll need to look further into this later

"Why are there monsters on my farm?" He asks

"Well I'm not much of a talker myself" I say shrugging as the burlap headed creature backs away from Majazal slowly "so I need these fine folks to spread the word I own this place now"

"Why?" He asks "On my farm"

"Because I usually around here so it makes sense to make them associate it with me" I say shrugging

"And you got some of the drunks here as well, wonderful" He says sighing "Well at least they're keeping away from the sheep, I guess"

"I suppose" I say nodding

"Wait you think you own this land now?" Old man asks chuckling

"I'm the strongest thing here as far as I can tell" I say "so yes, I'd say I'm justified in thinking that"

We could have them talk to Ned for a few minutes. The dude is practically a Razsezunael's Witness.

Or I guess we could go bluster in their faces and dare them to challenge us, beat the shit out of any who take the bait and challenge us, and then mark them.

Also we need to mark Ned at some point. Why haven't we marked Ned?

I walk down of the porch and stamp my foot on the ground, cracking it slightly with a loud thud, causing my new minions to turn their heads and stare at me

"Well, you should all know why I've allowed you to come here" I say

they nod, Some eyes wide with pride, others wide with fear as they stare at me.

"I need you to spread word of my power so I don't have to squash any bugs that dare get in my way" I say "So, you three there"

I motion towards the ones from the inn, Burlap head and the green thing nod, as the swamp thing hisses at me, I glare at it.

"You go to the inn and tell all about me" I say "if any do not believe in my power, send them here, if they wish to test it, and you five"

I motion towards the tall man and four shanty town creatures.

"You go into the woods and try to find others to do the same as the other three" I say "Cultist, just go around preaching I guess, you two go to the caves and tell any that inhabit them of me, as for the other four of you, just go into the plains and look for others, I guess"

>>

I liked it alot but now we're kinda OP and it's just consume consume consume. I wouldn't mind something similar but it's gotten sort of stale so I get where you're coming from..
>>
>>37885049
I like the quest, yeah, but I'd rather play something the QM enjoys. Good things rarely come from games the QM is forcing himself to run.

Well, depends on the QM honestly, but it is true in general.
>>
>>37885025

>>
>>37885159
Too true. I'd rather play something the QM likes as well rather than forcing him to shove this out despite it not sitting right with them.
>>
Besides. Raz is pretty much set up to become the next Demon Queen. I mean, whenever there's any sort of threat we just Open Maw. And if that doesn't work, we Open MOAR Maw. Although if HM does abandon this quest I would at least like to see an epilogue.

Well, a Post-Raz-pocalyptic setting would be kinda fascinating. If you're looking for suggestions, I'll re-submit my Novice Alchemist Quest idea.

Also hearing the legends of the omnipotent Demon Queen and whatnot.
>>
>>37885309
Take a break, try to figure out what the hell you want to actually do with this, and come back. I recommend designing a couple character arcs or something that you shove in our face and have us deal with when we get back. Maybe make some plot hooks and jam them into us forcibly. I don't mind being railroaded somewhat when the alternative is just aimlessly wandering.

Either just wrap the thread up now or try out the new character thing. You're obviously not into it and I don't think much anyone else is either.

>>37885401

>>
>>37885309
I think the problem is we leveled and got high powered abilities way too fast. To make things interesting you might want to send things at us that killing would be bad or impossible, nauter spirits wh are tied to the land that we need to appease, monster lords wanting/demanding something from us. Angels attacking our holds when we aren't patrolling due to them seeing corruption, arcs for other characters etc.
>>

>>
>>37885589
Simple have one ange or angelsl we eat(don't make this obvious) Be a demon level drain we still have our souls but our powers get nerfed by eating it. Especially the bad one like maw and our blood. After all if our blood can affect them, why not theirs affect us?
>>
>>37885596
Well I was thinking more like Mana Khemia-type alchemists, honestly. Where alchemy is the main way you fight, so you'd need to prepare the potions and grenades and whatnot before an adventure. Sorta like Assassin School Quest, now that I think about it.

>>37885631
Same, honestly, YMQ was the one that I really looked forwards to out of all three, but forcing it's just gonna do more harm than good in the long run.

>>37885671

>>
>>37885589
>taking away choice from things,
It's not, though. Giving players a goal to work towards allows them to make choices. There has to be some kind of pressure for people to do things or else they just blob about and meh at everything.

Pressure creates options and right now there is no pressure beyond "kill and eat things because angels."

I don't like it when QMs railroad hard and pointlessly, but there needs to be a goal. Something to work towards. Regaining the cultist was fun. A bit quick, but fun. Taking on batmom was pretty much the same. Fun, but all in the fight instead of in the buildup. That last part about the ratio of investigate:fight is more an issue of the powerlevel, but I digress.

Nobody finds it fun when you have us blindly wander in the forest for 20 updates going "You don't find shit. Do you want to keep looking for shit? Ok you get like 2 ghosts. Wanna do other stuff?" while you hope that we randomly bumble into one of the few things you actually set up beforehand.
>>
>>37885717
If you do it be sure to make it so we don't get crazy powers quickly. Something like maw should be a mid-high tier power. Or simply make it so no demons or angels that could be playable. Make them so otherworldly even seeing one results in very bad things. Also separate the world.

Maybe throw some feelsy writeups at us occasionally about cute shit that happened with Liz or things we missed out on, like finding the demon born from the city getting rekt?

I'd be cool with that.
>>
>>37885717
Sad blindsided anon here. I agree with this guy >>37885736

Goals are important and theres a big difference between railroading by giving plot and railroading to force us to do what the QM wants us to do.

Anyway, whatever happens I wish you the best HM. Its been a good run. At least Assassin School Quest is still going strong... right?
>>
>>37885818
Yeah, that would certainly be an awesome way to change YMQ up a bit.
>>
>>37885736
I can see where you're coming from here, it's just that the goal I had in mind began to look smaller and smaller as it all progressed along, the path to it got shorter and shorter

Many, many years later.

Darkness has fallen over the land, the great kingdoms of man and beast have been cracked open like bones and sucked clean of their life, leaving only the bent and broken husks of their former selves to serve their end and do all that she whims.

The frozen wastes of the north burn for years, turning to a land of ash and fire, just like it's ruler would've wanted, the only voice within it a child like giggle, echoing through the empty land of the dead.

A cult of mad men and crazed beasts sweep the land, partaking of flesh, sinew and bone with abandon, tearing into their victims still living bodies apart in frenzied orgies of violence and debauchery, led by a patchwork creature, forever singing praises of his "God".

A metal husk of a man is said to have stood against the tide, screaming in rage at the loss of his master, he fought for days, which turned to weeks, which turned to months, until he fell broken and battered, no longer wishing to kill, his soul is said to have returned to the soil, and kept the life within it safe from the ravages above it.

A little bat finally flies free, none to stop or hold her down, the world is finally held before her, and it is beautiful, under her mother's watchful eye

A human, lost her way in the shadows of the forest, her mind eroded and broke as she committed further and further misdeeds, until she was no longer able to be called human at all. What happened to her after, none can say for sure.

A farm stands untouched among the blazes of war, fertile and pure, untouched, unmolested, within an old man smiles as his family surrounds him as he pass on with a smile on his face, happy he managed to keep them safe all this time.

A fish in the sea cares not for what happens on the land, so lets leave it at that then.

A realm broken and shattered by their foes, they retreat from the world to lick their wounds and rebuild, followed by the taunts of the one who caused it all.

I thought it was fairly obvious when he started making really egregious typos. HM normally makes quite a few mistakes when writing, but it's usually stuff like "then" instead of "than" or other words that sound the same spoken out loud but have different spellings. That could easily be because of English not being his native language or dyslexia or something, so I don't look into it too much.

Recentlyish he started just having words that looked like he was trying to type with the sides of his hands. Shit like semicolons and completely wrong letters randomly interspersed. Made me think "wow, he really just wants to bang this shit out and be done with it".

I'm surprised everybody didn't catch it immediately when he asked "So if Raz were to die how would you feel about using a different character?"

An inn, ran by a coward, none care what happened to it

A million souls cry out in the belly of the beast, their pleas for mercy go unanswered as they erode a way

A little girl, twisted and broken by the world, let always smiling, taken by men with hearts dark as night, she became something that wasn't supposed to be, she got her revenge, she got it well, but she never stopped, she couldn't, she wanted more, more food, more knowledge, more power, she grew in strength, and soon became a terror unseen in reality, hell or the upper realms before or since.

She carved a throne in the world and sat down upon it, staring at the damage she wrought, she smiled and closed her eyes, smiling as thoughts of her old self played in the back of her head, a single tear rolling down her eye, before she called for another feast with her miss matched family.

Grim dark is kinda a nasty word. But yeah, I agree, that could be interesting. Maybe "demon abilities" would be once-off powers that we could use if we had to. Kinda like Layla's Lucky Coins, if things are getting out of hand we might burn a Demon's Soul to Open a single Maw in order to block an attack, or summon bat-wings so that we could avoid falling to our doom, or whatever. But it would be once-off rather than at-will, so that we would have to think carefully about how we use them.

How far in the future?

Everything except the farm is still fucked up and an apocalyptic wasteland? Far enough that things are mostly stabilized and Raz just sorta sits in her own pocket dimension acting as some vague Old One-esq threat that people still talk about but few remember first-hand?

If it's the latter, would Maj still exist as a force in the setting burning anything that comes into the northern area? Did she go off to hell for vacationing? Will we at some point run into a little girl and think it's oh so cute daughteru but nope, it's Maj and she later goes full-monster and destroys a huge swath of something and fucks off while giggling?

I was thinking more monster monster and not humanoid.

>Anyone want Raz's final form description while I'm at it?
Yeah.

Maj too if you can. Did her human form stay as a kid or did it grow up?
Personally, I'm hoping that it did and her fire form turned into a fucking huge scary as shit monster thing, but I'm cool with whatever.
>>
>>37886608
Yes. We want to know the Final Form of Demon Queen Raz.

>>37886616
We run into a little girl. She offers us a match and lights it with her hair... We run away screaming because of meta-gaming.
>>
>>37886608
Yes please.
>>
>>37886616
Not the same setting. Modern. It can be "Not earth." Are you not getting the Modern setting part?
>>
>>37886608
>Anyone want Raz's final form description while I'm at it?
Yes, I would like to know.
>>
>>37886590
Thanks for staying along for the rather short ride, I'm deeply sorry it ended like this
>>
>>37886608
Whatever you do, don't make it a demon mc again. If you give ability/trait/item things this time at all, don't do it after a set number of kills. Have a vote after we accomplish something big. Or after timeskips if they're long enough.

Just don't make it so we can meander around in the sandbox and git gud because people will just vote to do that when they can't think of anything.

>>37886652
Maj didn't have flaming hair in human form tho. And she had pyrokinesis so she'd just make it light by itself after handing it to us.
>>
>>37886707
Its okay man. You can't help these kinds of things. I would have liked to perhaps try and create some sort of bigger goal rather than defaulting to epilogue. But its okay
>>
>>37886755
We already had a bigger goal - eat (almost) everything and become top shit who nobody can fuck with.

The problem was a lack of smaller goals and any real reason to go for smaller goals.

Standing in at 10ft 9in with a great flowing mane of fiery locks that burn and crisp all that comes near it as it drags along the ground, with a mouth ful of teeth with mouthfulls of teeth with mouthfulls of teeth in those all meant for rending flesh and cutting bone and extremely caustic saliva that sticks and crawls.

Her skin is bronzed and has a slight green hue to it, almost being able to be mistaken for metal at a distances and just as hard.
Eyes that burn as bright as raging inferno, two orbs of fire stare at the world hungrily. Two large horns grow from her head, blackened by soot, with a crown of liquid metal floating between them. Her hands are covered by bandages, stained with blood and dirt. Her body shifts and changes the more you look at it, as if she does not belong on this realm. Wings of black smoke rise from her back, showing images of screaming souls within
Barely resembling her old self, you're body makes little sense and has been known to drive men to madness

All you wear is a tattered, bloodstained coat
>>
>>37886789
The problem was lack of humanity entirely. It kept those goals from being a thing.

People bitched about the music box option but the human element gives you something other than "EAT ALL THE THINGS!"
>>
>>37886608
>Raz's final form description
I've always thought of Raz herself being the dimension that maws lead to with herr "body" that everyone sees just being an avatar or something.
>>
I may try and run the modern idea of this soon, I'll just say when I'm going to start in on twitter by announcing a new quest
>>
>>37886977
Well, anyhow. I was a huge fan of YMQ while it lasted, it's what got me into your other quests so it'll always hold a special place in my memories. Thank you very much for running this, HM, and good luck with your other quests.
>>
>>37886977
Noted. Don't push yourself if you're burned out though.
>>
>>37886937
Just making sure I have this right, but you're saying that the teeth all have mouths of their own with have mouths on their teeth which have mouths on their teeth and so on forever in some kind of horrifying mouth-teeth fractal? And her spit actively tries to envelope things like it's some kind of giant acidic amoeba?
>>
>>37886999
Thanks for taking this so well, I'm still sorry about doing this without much of a warning, but I'm sure something will rise from the ashes
eventually
>>
>>37887023
Yes
>>
>>37887059
Okay. That's quite possibly more horrifying than that Maw-skin idea.
>>
>>37887098
Also if anyone is still around
how modern would you like modern to be?
>>
>>37887132
Where humans can be an actual threat no matter how bad we are. whether it be tech, magic , or supers.
>>
>>37887132
1990-2015

That's just me.
>>
>>37887160
I'm pretty sure one of the main parts of this setting was that humans do not get magic unless they become so fucked up that they can't really be considered human anymore.

>>37887132
I agree with >>37887179

But if this is set in the future of the same universe as YMQ:Raz, then you might want to consider how things would develop differently instead of just porting Earth 1990-2015 exactly. So it might end up being like the early 1900s in some aspects and the far future in others.
>>
>>37887245
I think I know how I'm going to do it
>>
>>37887132
Tech level? This>>37887179

>>37887245
If it's set in the same universe we're still voting for how modern it is based off our own world. If it's just COLONIAL MONSTER QUEST! It'll feel like the exact same shit we just did.
>>
Fuuuck! This was the only quest of your's I even liked, no offense. Of course it was the powergl-gaming that killed.
>>
>>37887316
Non taken, I do plan on running a quest set in the future of the setting, if that makes it any better

>>37887314
I'm thinking cities will either be moveable or underground to stop strong monsters from wrecking them, maybe human cities use a far more advance version of the siren or something
>>
>>37887377
Are there any Marked still alive in the future or did they all die off and Raz never made more because fuck it?
>>
>>37887377
>>37887413
And speaking of the mark, what did it end up being able to do by the end in addition to the initial safe-maws thing?

General physical buffs? Raz able to talk into their heads? Some food automatically sent to Her? Some other stuff?
>>
>>37887413
There are, but people tend to avoid them since something that can devour entire cities can pop out of them at any time
>>
>>37887450
Yeah, also tends to make them look more demonic now, with eyes similar to First raz, and sharpened teeth, as well as the maws becoming more than tattoos, and constantly drooling
>>
>>37887513
So basically they're all like baby Raz now except there's a chance that the setting's equivalent of a Lovecraftian nightmare might just pop out of at any point if they roll really bad on the random encounter table?
>>
>>37887611
Or if she gets a bit too hungry

Trying to decide when I should start the Modern version of this though
>>
>>37887377
Oooh. I read a steampunk-esque book oince where all the cities in the world were mounted on gigantic tank treads so that they could roam around the world and scavenge for materials (which often included devouring other, smaller cities for their natural resources, following the theories laid out in Darwin's "On the Origin of Cities"). That could be fitting, in a twisted sort of sense, cities devouring each other because of the stain Raz left on the world...
>>
>>37887679
Edit: the book was called "Mortal Engines"

Also, HM, start the Modern Monster Girl Quest ONLY when you're good and ready to do so. The last thing we want is for you to burn out, we all enjoy your quests and don't want you to stop running them because you pushed yourself too hard, okay?
>>
>>37887679
I think I know what series you're talking about.

>>37887771
Well two quests would certainly give me more time to think a story through for modern
though the cult of raz will be a problem
since they like eating people in a foolish attempt to gain power
>>
>>37886937
Neat. But what about Maj? How'd her endgame form turn out? Did she have some kind of internal equivalent of the soul door thing, like some kind of soul-roasting-pit? Or little urns that look like faces? Or was she not have the same wonky cartoon character magic biology that Raz has?

And she just stays in the north as the ruler. Did anyone ever recolonize it or do any attempts to go near it pretty much always result in death? Does she ever visit her sister or vice-versa? She never really was one for keeping pets around, so I'm guessing it's just one big deadzone. She at least alternate between hot flames and cold flames to simulate something like seasons?
>>
>>37887877
Make it in same universe but a different inhabitable world. Raz and her existing followers are elder gods trying to get a foot in the door after ruining their world.
>>
>>37887877
And Raz knows that one of the best ways to do a sequel is to have a cult who worships the MC of the prequel game.

Also I, too, would like to know more about Maj's Northlands.
>>
>>37887877
Well if they don't actually gain power from it (or if they just hit their peak really fast and it's not all that high anyway) then it's not like they'd be a real problem. Baby Raz had a bit of trouble with guns. If people have automatic weaponry and bigger stuff, they could take them down. It'd still be really nasty to fight one, probably end up needing a whole group of people and still take losses, but it could be done.

Or you could make them focus on knowledge stuff too instead of just food. Maybe they follow Raz's example and they hold off on eating it if it's kind interesting. I could totally see Ned going around taking pictures, sketching, and keeping journals like the world's scariest naturalist and then putting them in little gift boxes and swallowing them to send off to his Lord.
>>
>>37888019
Or they could be like Red Court vamps in the Dresdenverse. Yes, they have creepy psycho-powers. But you open up their gut, and they're pretty much dead in the water. Or on the land. Or in the air, if this setting has airships/planes which it probably will.

Also I have the most adorable mental image now of Ned actually doing that. And Raz being all confused at first until she realizes.
>>
>>37887913
People have tried to take it back, Leading to the ashen legion, the corpses of those foolish enough to attempt to bring down the Laughing inferno, there are seasons, but only two seasons
The burny one
and the cold one
Of course raz visits her sister

Her end game for monster is like a feminine Balrog, except more terrifying and burning and with four clawed arms and the lashing tail...ect, also always smiling as she's finally in a place she likes

>>37888019
Cult of the everhungering

Sect of the devourer
eat eat eat, more practiced in wild lands, refuse to eat people of the sect of the keeper unless they're radicals, will eat eachother since it's in their beliefs

Sect of the keeper
Much more tame than the other sect, since they prefer to just wander around and see the world as it is, often collecting and creating as they go, recording it all. Young humans often join this to see the world.
Her other form is still just a little girl
>>
>>37887970
It is said the northern wastes open up to hell itself, that the souls of the dammed are forever tied to their bodies ashes. That creatures have found ways to survive without water or food only ash, that lakes of molten glass, stone and metal dot that land. People speak of life raising from the earth and returning to ash as the moon rises.

the land forever changes, never looking the same, reflecting the ever changing whims of it's childish master

Embers fall like rain there
>>
>>37888116
Oh God. I can imagine it now, a young man who joins the Sect of the Keeper as a way to get out of his town and see the world, but slowly starts to believe more and more in the sect's "Goddess" until he vows to be as close to Her as possible, throwing off the shackles of civilization and joining the Sect of the Devourer.
>>
>>37887960
I think it's fine to be in the same world if enough time has passed.

Honestly I would think that Maj is the bigger issue than Raz is. Maj just straight up hates shit and burns it for fun.

Raz may always be hungry, but she doesn't actively hate people and might actually try to let them live. Especially if they can make some super high-output modern algae farms or something.
>>37888116
I could totally see cities paying a food tithe to designated collectors in the cult. The go up to the city every once in a while, the city wheels out a few dump trucks full of super-food stuff and dumps it into the maw.
>>
>>37888204
>I like it in hell
>Sister doesn't really like it there for some reason
>I guess I'll just make this place like hell, except burnier.
>>
I wish we knew more about Lil's ending. She was the most interesting character other than Raz, imo.
>>
>>37888207
I like that idea

and you are right, no one worships maj
even the devourers only call her "the mad goddess"

she doesn't care and is heavily monitored to make sure people will have a warning if she decides to leave her home. Not that the can stop her.

Hell, sometimes towns just up and burst into flames in the middle of the night

>>37888237
It's also a favorite vacation spot for demons, so reality is a bit fucked up north
>>
>>37888322
How big is the setting actually? I feel like we only really saw a chunk of 'Earth' smaller than New Jersey and then we saw a couple neighborhoods in hell.
>>
>>37888322
Maj end up as strong as Raz or stronger or is she weaker for some reason? Seems like she's just leaving the burned souls lying around as fertilizer instead of absorbing them.
>>
>>37888368
Well there's a large continent

No one's explored the north
due to it being frozen and now the home of maj

or the south entirely

South because of thick jungles that really don't seem to want people to go inside of them

but yeah, it's pretty big
>>
>>37888401
Technically she's leaving the burned souls lying around as guard dogs, not fertilizer.
>>
>>37888411
Jungles are neat. Maybe have a short quest or oneshot or something in the south playing as a tribal guy before the modern quest starts up proper?
>>
>>37888401
Maj in monster form can only be damaged by
Magic and lots of it
or a fuckton of water, I mean a lot of water, like dumping her into the sea would work as well as really messing with the ecosystem

Human form maj is squishier than raz
>>
>>37888456
Maybe, I may run modern soonish due to all these ideas, but I want to hold off so it doesn't suffer the same fate this one did,

I think I have a bit of an idea what the story would be, I think
>>
>>37888430
But there was that part where it said
>creatures have found ways to survive without water or food only ash
So I guess it's kinda like both?

It's an ecosystem based on damned souls instead of plankton or whatever the base of the ecosystem is.
>>
>>37888469
To be fair, HM, I'm willing to bet that a living chunk of diamond would be squishier than Raz, taking into account what she could survive even BEFORE she became made of hellmetal.

>>37888502
Write down the ideas so you remember them, and wait until you feel good and ready to settle in for the long haul. Don't rush it just cause you have some ideas now. Ideas will last.
>>
>>37888469
>like dumping her into the sea would work as well as really messing with the ecosystem
Couldn't she just teleport out and keep chaining teleports to get away? Or open a hell door?

Seems to me like you'd have to bind her somehow with magic and then dump her in the ocean.
>>
>>37888540
I could also archive this thread so I can remember them

>>37888532
the north is weird as fuck, I don't recommend going there in modern for a very long time, I mean a very very long time
>>
>>37888604
well if you can dump maj into the ocean you've already won, the matter is managing to dump her into the ocean in the first place without you and everything around your burning and freezing at the same time
>>
>>37888469
>Dump Maj in the sea
>Half the fucking thing evaporates
>There is now a cursed cloud of steam rolling over the land scalding people to death
>Once it cools somewhat, it causes an enormous storm that whips up the northern ash and spreads it over the world, creating an ice age like what happens with supervolcano eruptions
>The loss of water has made the salt concentration so high in the remaining water that everything that survived the temperature spike is killed by the extreme salinity
>The salty, dead oceans freeze over completely
>Sect of the Devourer members go around with ice picks chipping the dead fish out
>Raz throws a giant tantrum
Yeah, I'm not sure I'd want to kill her even if I could.
>>
>>37888411
Anyone ever visit Raz's stomach and not die?
>>
>>37888761
Yeah, since Demon Queen Raz's tantrums tend to involve continent-spanning maws drooling sentient acid and hellfire.

>>37888801
Raz did.
>>
>>37888817
>sentient acid
It responds to stimuli but I don't think it's sentient.
>>
>>37888801
Duke did briefly (no one cared enough to even remember him in the end), Ned eventually did, the farm family was allowed to visit once, Maj does sometimes, Liliana has may still be there in fact, since its a lot larger than a small island with a cottage now
>>
>>37888116
How do people actually go about joining the cult? Do they go to the local library/SotK church and hope that they're interesting enough to feel a burning sensation? Can Raz mark people wherever now or does she have to actually reach through one of the already marked people and boop them on the head to mark new people? Or can marked people mark others on their own? If marked people can mark others, then is there some kind of vampire-ish system where the older ones are stronger and the ones who were marked by someone closer to the source (Raz) are stronger?
>>
>>37888984
Raz marks people that manage to catch her interest, so say you do something awesome as a member of the keeper sect, Raz may decided to track you down out of boredom.

Also fun fact, most members of the cult do not know raz only wears of bloodcovered coat, since most imagery shows her in a soot covered white dress for some reason *blame ned*

The marked also tend to have high places in the cult, even if they aren't in it themselves

but they generally show their views by wearing either a maw symbol around their neck, or an eye with teeth pointing outwards on their neck
>>
>>37889078
You know, I'd be willing to bet that Raz has eventually become a part of most major pantheons. Less as in actual worship, though, and more "you know, I think that offering the occasional sacrificial mound of roast lamb to stay on her good side is not wholly a bad idea"
>>
>>37889078
>since most imagery shows her in a soot covered white dress for some reason
Well isn't that pretty much what she wore when Ned first met her/
>>
>>37889078
Were there/are there gods in the setting? Do they consider Raz to be a god or do they see her as "that uppity pretender demon"? Is she actually as strong as them if they exist?
>>
>>37889226
If there are gods, they probably saw what Raz did to their angels and are trying very, very hard to appear as unappetizing as possible.
>>
>>37889078
What was hatman anyway? Just a really strong demon? Fallen angel turned demon like this setting's Satan or something? Some kind of personified fundamental force of the setting?
>>
>>37889185
Yeah, Also since she has reality fucking abilities, she can appear as any of her forms from the first one to her finales one, she prefers her finale one though since it lets her wield the sword without it being larger than her

>>37889173
Yeah, expect stained glass windows showing depictions of raz
>>
>>37889255
Well the demons and angels are extra dimensional horrors

SO gods, natural ones, would be just very strong
and very old monsters
>>
>>37889078
I'd really love to hear about the lore involving angels. Like, we know that good humans can turn into them, but do they have an equivalent to the demons born from tragedy?

Do they work for some kind of not-YHWH figure or do they just do stuff?

Also, unrelated to angels, but I'd love to know more about magic in general.
>>
>>37889304
>SO gods, natural ones, would be just very strong and very old monsters
For some reason this sounds to me like there's gonna be something in the jungle.

Also, were dragons a thing? I think they were hinted at but I don't think we ever actually saw or heard anyone explicitly talk about them.
>>
>>37889362
I'm sure dragons are a thing. Probably very rare though. And old. And powerful.

>MFW this setting worships the Old Gods of the Tevinter Imperium from Dragon Age
>>
>>37889273
Demons came from angels who came to the realm to try and bring order to it, basically think of it as a split in evolution from a common ancestor
Angels let demons stick around since while they go to into their task of punishment they still helped them out

Hatman was the first to fall and decided, meh, no torturing is dull, let me actively reward my kin on my free time of having the time of my endless life.

Of course he also was a bit odd in that he was kind of a proto demon, who simply removed himself from space time so he could get a break and enjoy himself while chatting with anyone who caught his attention

However
by young monster quest
he was basically sin personified, since he had been alive so long
Angels and demons forgot they used to be the same creatures
>>
>>37889321
Angels can be born from great acts of good, yes

like a valiant last stand

and magic is basically a fundamental part of life, humans just can't use it for some reason. However there are also rituals like turning souls into demons and stuff like that, magic can be simple, or bizzare

Yes they do, which is basically the angel equivalent of hat man, but different
>>
>>37889469
What was the cabin monster guy actually doing with those people he was torturing, anyway? Some weird ritual or was that just for fun?
>>
>>37889578
Tall guy in a top hat?

he was running a sweat shop using humans as cheap labor
>>
>>37889610
Oh. The description of his stuff made it sound like he was skinning them alive and stuff.
>>
>>37889630
He may have been making Tall guy's genuine human hide coats emporium
>>
>>37889280
>reality fucking abilities
What dose that entail other than the form shift and the things we already know about like pretty much ignoring physical damage?
>>
>>37890006
Impossible body merged with maw at some point

which turned raz into a big middle finger to all reality
>>
>>37890238
Huh. I guess some things like that angel's magic swords could damage her if it hit her and blew up in her stomach... if it could damage the stomach...

Ok, yeah. She's pretty bullshit but that's why we love her.
>>
>>37890238
Did Lil get her own hand?
>>
>>37890238
I don't think we ever used the ghost blade thing. How'd that one turn out? End up getting merged with maw as well so that she could launch reality-eating blades at things?

Did the aura of hunger/starvation things ever get got? Any other interesting powers in general that you'd wanna talk about?

Any other titles ever happen? I remember you seemed to like that "Second Hell" one that someone said a bit ago.
>>
>>37890238
Liz still alive and did she ever get stronger than the original batmom?

What is Ned's view, and I guess the cult in general, on Raz's family? I remember you said that most of them don't really like Maj, but would they ever risk saying it out loud?
>>
>>37890329
Yes

>>37890332
Yeah, she's gained, Second hell, Keeper of the simple secrets, the lady of dusk, Gluttony *due to eating the previous Gluttony*, Queen of the shattered world *due to mcfucking the world* She who hungers, The ever growing maw, Lightbreaker, Faithcracker, The polite corruption, The undying memorial

>>37890397
Yes, but she spends most her time exploring, not very blood thirsty

Majazal: the mad sister, they tend to avoid talking about her because it's a bad omen, Ned is weary of her
Liliana: people go looking for her every now and again, Ned personally leads these searches
Liz: She has a holiday and Keepers of the cult often travel with her
>>
>>37890484
I guess the tragedy demon thing born from the city never really got found or people just don't give a fuck?
>>
>>37890484
>*due to eating the previous Gluttony*
>>
>>37890484
What happened to the witch? What did she do with Heaven's Wrath?
>>
>>37890707
She died like a bitch and then Huron became one with the earth or something.

I'd also like to know if she figured out how to make celestial metal, though.

Also,
>>37890484
Why were Raz's hands wrapped up?
>>
Just throwing out a suggestion here for the next quest. How about a modern/modern supernatural Jack the Ripper style one?
>>
>>37890707
Made some golems out of it
then raz ate her soul
which really pissed huran off

>>37890555
Well that one stays in hell, since it's a nice upstanding demon, not conquering worlds, just torturing souls as it's supposed to, thank ya very much
>>
>>37890484
Maj get any titles? I'm sure she must've.

Did she ever get any hellish gifts or did she pretty much go purely for traits and powers?

Raz ever get any cool HGs? I know she only wears the coat, but maybe she got a couple swords or something. Or the metal halo thing is actually a HG for all I know.
>>
>>37890764
>Well that one stays in hell, since it's a nice upstanding demon, not conquering worlds, just torturing souls as it's supposed to, thank ya very much
I can totally picture it sitting there some demons sitting around it with Beavis and Butthead voices going "Hey [city demon name], yer mum's hot. Hehe Nyehehehe. Hehehehehe hu hu hu huk" while it just sits there trying to ignore them.
>>
>>37890726
An Angel Smashed them + Impossible
body created something really nasty, so she wrapped them up to stop it from happening
since that always works

>>37890737
Hmm?

>>37890774
liquid metal crown, several empowered weapons, a throne, sealing bandages on the house from bull demon

Maj titles: eternal blaze, the laughing hatred, The burning ice, The little calamity,, The happy end, The living flame, Little girl, Sister of that one ya know the one who took over that other realm what's her name again?, *incoherent screaming* X 10

>>37890813

To elaborate a little bit.I was thinking that we're the reincarnation of Jack the Ripper or something like that.I just got up so my minds not working much right now sorry
>>
>>37890878
Raz ever join in on some of those demon betting things that Hat talked about?
>>
>>37890943
He invited her a few times and she went out of curiosity

>>37890931
So prostitute killing quest?
>>
>>37890971
Doesn't have to be that.I was just spitballing.Just because we're the reincarnation of him doesn't mean we have to follow his path.We just inherited his skills. You get what i'm saying?
>>
>>37890878
She ever corrupt some angels and then let them go around rampaging instead of killing them?
>>
>>37891027
Yeah, so you'd use it for good, aka go into the field of medicine and become a doctor as he likely was to be able to remove the organs with such precision and not get any of the blood splatter on himself?

>>37891075
Well of course, she wanted to see what would happen
>>
>>37891119
I was thinking more vigilante like since he was never caught and apparently had good stealth skills along with well the "Ripper" part of his name
>>
>>37890878
>liquid metal crown
What's that thing actually do other than look badass?
>>
>>37891169
He was called the ripper because he kind of brutally killed prostitutes, he was good at stealth because he blended in with the society that days

Or he could've been a ghost or something
who knows
no one does, that's who

Still I do like the idea
>>
>>37891199
I dunno, probably just to look cool
>>
>>37891119
Thanks for running, I thoroughly enjoyed this setting
>>
>>37891204
Well glad i could give some ideas
>>
>>37891248
Thank you for playing

also I'm planning on running another quest set in the future of the setting at some point as well
>>
>>37890764
Why'd Raz eat her? Just because she could? Hungry? Got sick of dollbitch being a bitch? Dollbitch actually tried to doublecross/attack Raz?
>>
>>37891354
Well, mostly because at one point it was a three way battle betwee

Angels
Raz, raz's followers, and demons
And Doll bitch and her metal men
>>
>>37891391
Since Raz ate her, doesn't that mean she would know how to do all the science stuff that dollbitch could?

Has she ever tried taking a bottle of the ash from the north and binding it to some armor?

Or mixing it with some blood and drawing alchemy arrays for crazy stuff?
>>
>>37891430
Yes, when she wasn't busy doing raz things
>>
>>37891391
She ever eat an angel that knows how to make celestial metal?

Also, what are the properties of celestial and demonic metals?
>>
>I forgot about the memory eating
>She ate millions of souls
>Even if 99% of them are fucktarded, that's still a TON of valuable info
Her stomachland house library must be fucking massive.
>>
>>37891507
I bet the Sect of the Keeper members would do anything for a chance to go through some of those books.

They probably even have some weird fucked up beliefs about how they should throw their dead into maws so that they can gain "immortality" in the library.
>>
>>37891486
Well it comes from heaven so if she knew how to forge it she couldn't really get any at the moment

Very hard to break
Constantly cold *demon*
Constantly warm *angel*
Tends to shine/absorb light
Could be imbued with angel/demon bits
Made very nice/horrible noises when swung
Very nice conductivity
resistant to most things
>>
>>37891542
Each soul would give her their memories, so it would in a way

>>37891507
Yeah, very huge, in fact many keepers wish to travel there to just get a peek of it, since all of that delicious knowledge from monsters, angels, demons, and men is stored there in books
>>
>>37891620
If someone learned her name, would they be able to control her at this point or is Raz just to out there?

Because dickbag "hey let's make a demon to depose the duke!" cultist would have a book in the library. A book of every single worrd and phrase he knew that started with a "ras/raz" sound. So, if someone were dig into the very deepest part of the library and find the very first book, and keep reading it even though it would look like a catalog of raspberry recipes at first, they might learn her true name.
>>
>>37891739
Well since she only took that memory
it'd be a piece of paper with her name written on it
>>
>>37891791
I distinctly remember you saying that it was everything that the dude knew that had the same first syllable sound as her name.

So maybe it would be a piece of paper wither her name on it, but it'd also have a bunch of raspberry stuff.
>>
>>37891836
yeah, that'd be hilarious to find, all the words starting with raz on it, and in the corner her true name
>>
Maybe the metal crown thing lets her combine weapons into one thing easily.

I dunno. It'd be pretty neat if that original sword ended up becoming an absolutely ridiculous monster weapon thing.

Speaking of Raz's hellfire sword, that thing ever get a name or has it always just been a nameless blade or "[One of her titles]'s sword" or something of the like?
>>
>>37891990
Or it does something that a crown actually does and enhances ruler-ness kinda like how the generals hat woulda let her essentially mindcontrol mooks when it came to giving combat orders.

Or it just looks badass. Or maybe it repairs her metal body when it's damaged or something. Maybe it's just an infinite well of demon metal. Who knows.
>>
>>37891990
Well the hellfire got stronger, a lot stronger
and in her finale form it isn't larger than she is anymore
>>
>>37892036
How's the blood control gotten? Able to just go ahead and juice a city idly?
>>
>>37892155
Yeah, Of course it is extremely painful and could even be fatal!
>>
>>37892190
To Raz or the people? If it's the former, count me surprised.
>>
>>37892209
Latter, since blood exploding out of people is kind of deadly
>>
>>37892254
And here I was so sure that it was merely a flesh wound...
>>
>>37892254
>>37892190
Can she sense the blood or just control it? It'd be really fucking disconcerting to know that Raz could just know where you are and sense the structure of every circulatory system all around her for miles. It's just fucking creepy.
>>
>>37892330
Vampiric upgraded along the way, but not to that point
>>
Ever pull off the portal shenanigans with the maws? Not really as useful since acquiring wings, but it would allow for some maneuvers that'd be impossible with just using wings.
>>
>>37892426
I mean in the launching around the field in a fight and basically being a 'human' missile / spinning flying top of death.

I know we did it just for transport all the time.
>>
>>37890484
W-what was the previous Gluttony like?

Also are there other demons that have the titles of the main sins? They get along with Raz or is it more of a "Yeah, I got your christmas card. Now stay away for another year" type relationshio? Are there demons that have the titles of the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse? How's Raz feel about Famine if there is?
>>
Snake like head, 12 horns, eight eyes, a fuck ton of mouths, a fat ball of lard, light green skin, lots of hook teeth, several frog tongues, stubby legs, ten arms, chest stomach

Also completely immobile

They tend to ignore each other except when it's poker night

Famine was an angel
only one to battle raz to a stand still
left on good terms with raz and just fucked off somewhere
>>
>>37892641
>>37892758
Damn
>>
>>37892758
Sounds like they'd have been interesting fights.

If you ever feel in the mood to write some of the big fights that happened and post them on twitter in a pastebin or something, I'd totally read them.
>>
>>37892806
Maybe someday, when I start the modern monster quest thing
>>
>>37892758
Would Death, War, and Conquest/Pestilence also be angels?
>>
>>37892859
Yes
>>
Just caught up and sad to see it end but I can understand why.

Thoughts on a modern setting:
Perhaps at some point Raz retreated into her now massive stomach land and developed it into it's own world.
She, her family and her cult now thrive inside and as her power just continues to grow her stomach dimension simple expands, keeping everyone occupied exploring and settling the new areas.
Perhaps it collides with another dimension and twisted monsters break through to occupy everyone's attentions.

Point being though that her presence on earth fades and becomes whispers and rumours a time once been. There's a small isolated sect of her cultists that seek to preserve their order and spend most of their time documenting new things for Raz. They are capable of bestowing marks in her name or whatnot and on rare occasions she visits them or whatever.

The world at large recovers and gets back to what it does without super powerful hunger and fire demons ravishing it.
>>
>>37892965
Earth? when did earth come into this?
>>
>>37893016
Yeah, I couldn't think of the right word at the time. Whatever the planet is called.
>>
>>37892965
Personally, I like them having a slightly more active role. Yeah, Raz can fuck off into her stomach for the most part, but I like the northern territory being a hellish nightmare zone because of Maj and I like the other setting fluff talked about earlier in the thread.
>>
>>37893047
I just use the term reality, also I just realized how cool a planet named Reality would be. Or people could have no name for it, no one really asked them about it, and demons and angels don't really care

Well she is called the second hell by this point, so raz's stomach being a place could be a thing, just not a very pleasant place if she doesn't like or have interest in you
>>
>>37892849
Aight. Looking forward to the possibility, but I understand if ya don't want to for a while.
>>
>>37893151
I'll need to think a bit about it. how it's going to work exactly
>>
>>37893048
>>37893128
Yeah, I just figured it'd be a decent way to have the modern setting not still dominated by Raz and her band of merry murderous misfits.

I feel like it would weigh too heavily on the quest if her cult had a major presence, that's all
>>
>>37893185
If it had a heavy presence it'd be called a church
not a cult as it is
>>
>>37893231
So when Raz ruled the continent her cult was considered a church? Or was ruling the land not a heavy presence?
>>
>>37893231
You could always pull her a cthulu and he cultists are trying to open the way for her.
>>
>>37893306
She already has a way. Every single one of them is a portal she can open whenever she wants. She just doesn't really give a fuck most of the time.
>>
>>37893306
>>37893324
>Every single one of them
"them" being the marked cultists.

And it's not like she needs them anyway. She can open maws damn near whenever she wants.
>>
>>37893274
Latter, She mostly just took it over and went back to doing raz things as the inhabitants rebuilt, didn't really take over, just kind of came in and killed things and said this is mine now

>>37893306
Well she is an abomination out of reality in the setting, because she's a demon

>>37893346
And by god are they massive by now
>>
>>37893324
>>37893346
>>37893376
She's a big girls going that far blind is an issue for her. They'd need a special gate. The whole premise is they've heard the words whispers across the stars but never met her.... yet. Just trying to avoid a setting where she dominates everything, while keeping her somewhat relevant. We stay on her world (yes hers) We'll get nowhere.
>>
>>37893406
She could just hang around in her stomach most of the time, or some other place where no one goes, like her stomach
>>
>>37893406
She doesn't dominate everything even without all these restrictions you want for no reason because she doesn't care about it.

She never wanted to conquer the world, she wanted food, knowledge, and to be strong enough that nothing would ever fuck with her again.

Raz in future settings is something akin to a rather rare natural disaster. Occasionally she might fuck up a city but for the most part she just doesn't do anything and there's a group of loons who worship her.

Upon achieving massive power, she no longer realy needs to go around taking stuff over. The only reason she was even doing the conquest thing in-quest here was because she needed to do it to get more power and food. She doesn't really need more power and people willingly fork food over to the cultists so she'll stay away. Her "rule" is about as extensive as the rule of tornadoes in tornado-prone areas. All she does for the most part is influence building codes/laws (make lots of surplus food production) and occasionally wreck some stuff.
>>
>>37893474
Still it is her world, no contest no way to advance. She is more or less god at this point. We'd either meta game like hell to get on her good side or she crushes us like a gnat. EBsides I can't see her eltting the worldgetting to the nuclear age as they could be an actual threat. Not to mention her cultists would devour everyone/thing.
>>
>>37893585
>We'd either meta game like hell to get on her good side or she crushes us like a gnat.
Why do you assume the quest is going to be on a scale where that matters?
>>
>>37893585
Or we could just play a quest where we worship her as a goddess and she just stays hands off cus DM Fiat says shes bored and doesn't want to bother.

So she just lets people do whatever. No reason that just because we get technology we have to be hostile to her. In fact, I'd love playing a quest where we are under Raz.
>>
>>37893585
You'd also have to meta game to piss her off enough to actually go out and kill you.

Her cultists don't have any special powers I don't get where the whole devour everything came from, they're just loons with some of them getting marked and looking horrifying while getting a bit physically stronger and leaking acid from their marks and are treated like lepers by normal non cult people.

When magic is in a setting and you talk about modern tech, then it's usually magic being utilized to make it, possibly through a merging of an industrial revolution and monster's investing in human businesses and helping with the magical portion
Which one assumes the equivalent of nuclear reactor would be captured essence of a demon or angel or something
>>
>>37893752
Chances of Raz becoming some kind of patron deity to mad scientists? I can't see her not being interested in the experiments of sciencey people so long as they aren't assholes like Dollbitch.
>>
>>37893784
>Some dude figures out how to make an infinite powerplant by utilizing raz acid for batteries somehow
>Also puts a powerplant in stomachland that runs off of the geothermal somethings.
>>
>>37893784
Memory eater
>>
>>37893752
>equivalent of nuclear reactor
I could see her using her portal ability to allow for unlimited energy. IE: Water falling through a hydroelectric plant that starts at its beginning.

Probably too decades of begging and offerings of food to get her attention for it though
>>
>>37893816
>>37893828
Using Abominations from outside of reality to power your cities. Science
>>
>>37893818
She could just eat a science person for his knowledge the second he tried talking to her...

Or she could mark him or just tell cultists to keep tabs on him and help out occasionally if the science person bribes hard enough and then once he finally keeps over she'll get a way bigger knowledge meal.

Like, say there's 100 science dudes who occasionally send a prayer. She could eat all of them, but then they wouldn't be doing any further work. She'd have the knowledge, but would she really continue on with all of their projects and experiments with the same efficiency they would have? She has to realize that it's way more knowledge for way less effort to eat them after they learn everything they can in life. Wait til they're ripe and all that.

Makes me think the Sect of the Keeper would have some weird sayings like "Life is an Authorship." or "The weight of your soul is the weight of your knowledge."
>>
>>37893885
>>
>>37893985
>keeps over
keels* over.

Dies.

Not "keeps".

Side note, I guess Raz could just use the knowledge from Dollbitch about constructs to make a giant science lab thing of her own.
>>
>>37893885
>>37893992
>>
>>37893818
Is Raz really all that smart, though? She strikes me as the kind of thing that has a ton of knowledge but fairly low or average actual intelligence. It'd probably be better to let smart people work on stuff than it'd be to take the info and work on it herself.
>>
>>37893985
Wait, why not use her as a super computer
>>
>>37894040
Depends I guess, I like to think it's like that
>>
>>37894047
Elaborate. Are you saying that scientists would send experiment requests to Raz and she'd run the tests with her legions of constructs and lab things she nabbed from Dollbitch? That'd be pretty neat.

>The best university in the setting is bankrolled by Raz or maybe Ned.
>It's pretty much free if you can do interesting shit
>Hardly anybody goes there because "ARE YOU FUCKING CRAZY!?"
>>
>>37894105
>Majors in madscience
>>
>>37894105
No, I just thought since she contains the thoughts and experiences of a fuck ton of things, she'd make a great computer.

>>37894123
the only major worth having
>>
>>37894134
I guess she could have eventually got computery later on as part of the power progression, but just having tons of knowledge alone wouldn't make her like a computer unless the mechanics of the memory steal works a lot differently than I thought.
>>
>>37894190
She wouldn't
I just thought, what if you used her like a potato for electricity, except for data and computing

I need to get some sleep about now
>>
>>37894232
I think I get what you're trying to get at but it still makes very little sense.

Anyway, g'night. Looking forward to the YMQ future quest since I don't actually follow UMQ or ASQ.
>>
Was getting hatman's hat ever a real possibility back when he first showed up or would he have just laughed and said to come back when we eat a million souls or something? Or was it just a regular hat that he has hundreds of?
