_

You are Victor Kane, Sentinel Cadet and Savant. You recently bought some flowers, bound a Ghost and talked to Agatha Spiritbinder, one of the Elite Four. Right now, you’re meeting with Ivy Ravel, another Savant and Fellow Sentinel Cadet, at a Cafe that’s… pretty unusual.
_

“So,uh.” You begin. “Do you come here often? It has an… interesting atmosphere.”

Ivy nods. “I try to come at least once a week. It’s a nice place to get away from it all. Nobody here bothers me.”

You raise an eyebrow. “Bothers you?”

The dark-haired girl seems to shrink in on herself. “I’m not very popular with the rest of the girls in our class.” She says in a quiet voice.

You get the feeling that you’ve touched on a sensitive subject, so you change it. “So, uh… tell me about yourself?”

“Uh, well…” She looks a little embarrassed. “I… really like reading. And playing video games. And a bit of writing as well.” Her face brightens, a small smile appearing.“Oh! And I’m training to be a Field Medic. I’m actually really good at it too.”

She pauses. “So, howabout you?”

"I like to watch anime and do roleplaying games. I'm also into pokemon."
>>
>>37882195

Does anime even exist in this universe?
>>
>>37882102
Well I'm training to be a battler either on my own or with my Pokémon. I figure the best way to save lives is too keep them from being in danger. As to hobbies, I enjoy a reading, although most of what I read is Pokémon lore and legends. I also like video games, but I don't get much chance to play them any more. I prefer faster games, like fighters or shooters.
>>
>>37882222
If video games exist, why not? We're clearly not that low-tech.
>>
>>37882270

Yes, but does that particular brand of animation exist?

considering the courses he picked, I'd say he'd definitely be into Wargaming.

I'm imagining him running a Skirmisher based army. Lots of dog pokemon and lightly armored ranged troops.

I'll second all of that.

“Well,” you begin. “I'm training to become a Sentinel, obviously. I might go back home once I'm out of here, to the Frontier. Still got a bit of unfinished business there. I’d like to be a fighter, on my own and with my Pokémon. I figured the best way to save lives was to keep them from being in danger in the first place.”

Ivy nods, “I can understand that.”

“As for hobbies,” You continue. “I like reading, although most of what I read is Pokémon lore and legends.”

“Really?” Ivy interjects. “I like legends too! Have you read the-” She cuts herself off. “I’m sorry, you should finish.”

You smile at her. “It’s fine. I also like video games, but I don't get much chance to play them any more. I like beat’em ups and some RTS’s. I do a bit of tabletop gaming too, mainly War of the Legends, but my army is a bit old. It’s probably outdated by now.”

The dark-haired girl squints her eyes at you, “What army did you play?” The timidness seems to be fading rapidly.

>Iron Knights- Cavalry, fast, heavily armored, but limited numbers. As the name suggests, their preferred Pokemon were Steel and Ground types.
>Sisters of Darkness- Favor light armor, high mobility and stealth tactics. Primarily used Dark and Poison Pokemon.
>Praetorian Guard- Heavy infantry, slow, but solid defense. Preferred Fighting and Rock types.

“Uh, well, I played Iron Knights-” You’re cut off as Ivy lunges across the table and grabs your collar.

“You have an Iron Knight army and don’t play Legends anymore!?” She practically shrieks. “Do you realize how rare those sets are. What is wrong with you?!”

Her wiry arms contain a surprising amount of strength. as evidenced by the force she shakes you with.

You struggle to answer. “I” shake “just” shake “stopped” shake “playing” shake.

She stops shaking you. “Why?”

You blink, trying to reorient yourself. “Other stuff came up. Like Sentinel Training.”

Ivy takes a deep breath. “I’m sorry. It’s just that I’d love to play but I can’t afford an army.”

“It’s okay.” You say taking a deep breath. “I bought it with my inheritance. Outside of that, I don’t really own much.”

The other Savant looks curiously at you. “Inheritance?”

You wince. “Yeah. My dad left me some money after he died so I used it to buy a full Iron Knights Army and played Legends for a while. It’s the main reason why I got into Strategy and Tactics at the Academy.”

Ivy exhales sharply. “A whole army? That’s like a thousand models.”

You nod. “Yep. They’re all in my storage locker at the Academy. How do you know so much about the game anyways?”

“I watched a lot of online matches.” She breathes but then shakes her head. “Argh, what am I thinking, this isn’t what I came here for. I wanted to meet you, and see if I could join your Special Forces Team.”

You blink. “Special Forces Team?”

Ivy’s eyes widen and she clamps her hands over her mouth. “I shouldn’t have said that.” Her muffled voice says.

Sentinel Special Forces are to Sentinels what Sentinels are to Guardsmen. They are formed at graduation and put under the command of a senior officer who mentors them and develops the team into a lethal fighting force. The Officer selects a Team Leader from the Cadet class and tells them to assemble a squad from their fellow cadets.

You slap yourself in the face. Of course, that’s what the Major was doing. He was testing you to see if you were suitable for command. But one thing is bothering you…

“How did you know, Ivy?” You ask her, eyes narrowing.

The girl seems to shrink in on herself again and mumbles something.

“What did you say?”

“I kinda hacked Major Cyril’s Pokegear.” she mumbles.

>>
>>37886349

She hacked a Pokegear. A SENTINEL Pokegear. Normal Pokegears have some decent firewalls, but Silph Co. makes some nasty defenses for the Sentinels. The fact that Ivy managed to get around those says something else entirely.

You’re impressed. You’re damn impressed. So, you laugh. You laugh long and loud. Wiping tears of mirth from your eyes, you see that Ivy is looking rather confused.

“Ivy, Congratulations.” You say.

Now she looks even more confused. “For what?”

“You made the cut. I’m definitely putting you on my team.”

Ivy’s eyes widen and she grins from ear to ear. “Thank you!”

She jumps up and hugs you tightly from across the table. “Thank you so much Victor!”

You are a little surprised but manage to return the hug. It isn’t unpleasant. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. She’s slender, but you can feel lithe muscles under her sweater. That electric tingle from before is stronger now and fills you with energy.

{How strange…} You “hear” Geist whisper.

Letting go, the both of you sit down in your chairs. The tingling fades, but you feel energized. Stronger somehow.

“Did- Did you feel that too?” Ivy asks. “What was it?”

“I don't know,” You say. “Maybe a Savant thing?”

Standing up, you hold your hand out. “Let’s find out.”

Ivy bites her lower lip before nodding. “Okay.”

She stands and her hand finds yours. That electrical tingle rises up again, centered around your connected hands but also traveling through your bodies. It’s not painful, but it’s not pleasant either. It’s a decidedly neutral sensation. Slowly though, you begin to feel something else. A sort of flavor. It’s light and airy, and reminds you of light through glass or a mirage. It’s something ephemeral.

And then the tingling recedes, fading to a soft buzz right around your hands. You let go of Ivy’s hand and she lets go of yours.

“Did you feel that?” She asks. “It was a bunch of different sensations. One was heavy and hard and the other was… loamy or sandy.”

"To me it felt, light and airy.” You say. “It reminded me of... light through glass or a mirage or something. It's hard to explain. What do you think it could mean?"

She pauses. “Well, Savants have the whole empathic bond thing between themselves and their Pokemon, right? Maybe it was some kind of bond between Savants. Let me test that.”

Taking a deep breath, Ivy squints her eyes and screws her face up, looking directly at you. It’s an amusing picture and you struggle to squash your laughter. Eventually, the girl releases her breath and pants.

“It didn’t work, did it?” She asks.

“I don’t know what you were doing.” You confess. “But it was amusing to watch.”

Ivy blushes but ignores the remark. “Well, I was trying to send something over a bond. But it didn’t really work.”

Clearing her throat, she twirls a lock of her dark hair around her finger. “It might have something to do with Pokemon types. The Major told me you were bonded with a Wartortle, Metang and Larvitar. I’m bonded with a Kirlia and Zoroark. The types we don’t share are Steel, Earth, and Fae.”

You pick up from there. “So, you’re saying we felt the types we don’t share?”

Ivy nods. “Exactly.”

>Questions?
>>
>>37892784

"You forgot Ghost and Poison"
Pokemon meet and greet? We are on the same team now after all
>>
>>37892784
so... we can feel the links we have with our pokemon when we make contact... I'm not really sure what to make of that really. I mean I really don't see how that changes... anything. Just gave us a vague idea of what other savants have and if we're in a fight, by the time we get close enough to actually feel what they have I highly doubt it would matter. Guess it could be used to find other savants but I don't think people would like it if we went around just touching people.
>>
>>37892829
I meant that as more of a question to Ivy.
But I just realized that I never put in quotation marks and it was kinda of a stupid question anyway so yeah.
>>
>>37892880
>You forgot Ghost and Poison
could just be that since we only made the bound today it hasn't had time to grow on us yet, or ghost contracts just work differently so it's harder to sense.
>>
>>37892784

This>>37892872 seems suitable. Also ask Geist what he had felt. Oh, bringing out Cobalt to help figuring out things is also viable.
>>
>>37892942

The question is, is this the only effect sensing the types we don't have is?

It was described as "energizing." Methinks something else is going on here...

>>

>>37894096

Actually, I prefer the original designs as Arvalis makes them VERY realistic. There's still a lot of fantastic stuff in this setting.
>>
>>37894429

{Geist.} You reach out to the Haunter. {What did you feel earlier?}

{A transference of energy.} Geist’s baritone voice responds. {I felt a fragment of the essence of Metal and Earth travel to the girl and a fragment of the Fae enter you. That fragment is developing into a pool as we speak, matching the other energies within your soul.}

You frown. So, you essentially gained Fae typing just by touching Ivy? And she gained Metal and Earth? But then why didn’t she gain Ghost?

You can approach this with tact.

“So, do you want to let your Pokemon out? We’ve got enough room in here.” You say, gesturing to the room.

It IS pretty spacious. The round table to the two of you were sitting at only takes up a sixth of it. The rest of the space is empty but the folded up tables and chairs tell you it’s just unprepared. A large tv is mounted on the left wall and the far wall has several curtained windows, parted to let the afternoon sunshine in.

Ivy smiles. “I’d like that.”

She stands up, revealing the black jeans and boots she was wearing under the turtleneck. Lifting the bottom of her sweater reveals two Pokeballs in their shrunken state magnetized to her belt. Ivy plucks them both off her belt with one hand and rolls them to hold them in the gaps between her first three fingers on her left hand. With a flip of her wrist, the balls fly out and release white streams of energy revealing a Kirlia and a… Kirlia?

The two Kirlia look at each other for a moment before one of them closes its eyes and tilts its head and huffs. The other Kirlia immediately imitates the first but is interrupted by Ivy striding over and poking it in the head.

Ivy tuts and her voice takes on a motherly quality. “Zachariah! What have I told you about bugging Giselle?”

The Kirlia sighs and its form blends and twists, coalescing into a crouching Zoroark. It looks vaguely apologetic.

Ivy turns to regard you, “So, how about yours?”

You grin and grab your Pokeballs off the magnetic plates on your belt. Three flashes of light, and Shellshocker, Cobalt and Terra pop into existence. Almost immediately, Cobalt drifts toward Giselle and Terra gravitates toward Zachariah. Shellshocker elects to wander over to Ivy and looks up at her, studying her.

{Victor.} Geist says. {Would you like me to make an appearance?}

{If you’re comfortable with it.} You answer him. {We’re a team now Geist, you don’t need to ask my permission.}

{Indeed.} The Haunter replies. {But keeping my existence a secret provides a tactical benefit. Nevertheless, concealing me from our allies isn’t necessarily the best course of action.}

You feel Geist uncoil himself from within you and make his way up your spine into your head. He begins to flow out of your nose and mouth as a gaseous purple smoke that slowly coalesces into a grinning head and two floating hands. It kinda tickles. The other Pokemon, besides Shellshocker, immediately tense up upon Geist’s appearance. Giselle and Zachariah scramble towards Ivy, putting themselves in front of her and assuming combat stances.

Cobalt turns and locks her focus on Geist while immediately asking you via mental link, {MASTER, ARE YOU WELL?} You take a moment to send a reassuring thought to her.

Terra jumps up and dives behind your legs, grabbing them and peering around while gnashing darkness covered teeth.

Ivy herself appears to be shocked, her eyes widening and her mouth dropping open. Geist just grins and dips his head while throwing his arms out to the sides, imitating a fancy bow. His already manic grin grows even wider.

{A Pleasure to meet you all.} The Haunter broadcasts to the entire group. {I am Geist.}

Ivy blinks and finds her voice. “A pleasure to meet you too, Geist.” She says shakily.

She immediately turns her head and locks eyes with you. “You bound one too?” She asks.

You blink. “Bound one too?”

Ivy nods emphatically. “Yes! Hang on a second.”

She closes her eyes for a second and her face suddenly turns black. A necklace of red gems appears around her throat and her hair begins floating around her head, the strands trailing shadows. When she opens her eyes, they’ve changed, the sclera yellow and the irises red. Ivy’s strange new face detaches from her body, an ephemeral tail protruding out of the bottom and more tails serving as hair out of the top of its head.

It moves toward the center of the room across from Geist, and reveals Ivy’s grinning face behind it. You recognize this Pokemon. It's a Misdreavus.

{I am Minerva.} The female Ghost Pokemon intones to the room. {It is a pleasure to meet you.}

"I am happy to meet you Minerva how are you today."

I'd just like to say that I like Geist's style and personality.

It also bothered me that Ivy was initially described as being bound to a ghost first, but didn't have any ghost pokemon. Guess we fixed that.

"Uh, nice to meet you too." Then continue on by asking questions like these:>>37894797, >>37894741

The atmosphere in the room mellows out, with Giselle and Zachariah dropping out of their combat stances and Cobalt appeased. Terra refuses to let go of your leg though, staring wide eyed at the two Ghosts that float in mid-air.

You bow a little to Minerva, showing your manners.

“Nice to meet you too.” You say. “How are you today?”

Minerva’s eyes narrow in mirth and her small mouth turns upwards into a smile. A low throaty laugh emanates through the room. {Quite well, thank you.} Minerva’s voice is rather deep and husky.

It was then that Geist moved forward stretching out his right hand and smiling a genuinely happy smile.
{Good Day milady.} He intones in his deep baritone voice. {Would you care for a stroll?}

Minerva giggles. {Why, I would indeed, Sir Geist.} And lets a fold of her lower expand outward into Geist’s hand.

The two of them immediately phase through the floor, apparently, off for a romantic stroll.

{Don’t get seen.} You warn Geist mentally.

There’s a scoff. {Bah, as if I would let that happen} Geist answers.

You glance towards Ivy who is also looking towards you. Your eyes meet… and the two of you promptly burst into laughter.

“I honestly wasn’t expecting that!” Ivy chokes out through her chuckles.

After a minute or so, the two of you manage to bring your laughter under control. Looking around the room, you see that Cobalt and Giselle are now locked in some sort of mental exchange, judging from the way their eyes are glowing. Zachariah and Shellshocker have apparently hit it off, the two holding a rapid conversation in growls and clicks. A tug on your pant leg tells you that Terra wants some attention, so you pick her up, cradling her while walking over to Ivy.

Ivy smiles at the baby Larvitar and cooes a bit, rubbing Terra’s tummy. “Aw, she’s so cute.”

Terra relaxes a little, apparently enjoying the belly rub. Her eyes close and soon she’s fast
asleep.

“So,” You say while looking at Ivy. “How’d you meet your Pokemon?”

Ivy smiles while scratching Terra’s horn. “My father got me Zachariah for my 5th birthday and we bonded immediately. He was just a Zorua then. He’s a bit of a prankster and loves annoying Giselle.”

Nodding towards the Kirlia, she continues. “I actually found Giselle as a Ralts when I was doing scouting exercises at the Academy. She was pretty badly hurt at the time. I think a brush with a wild Scyther, judging from the cuts. She would have bled out but I managed to get her to the infirmary in time. She’s been with me for two years now.”

“And Minerva?” You ask.

Ivy actually frowns at that, looking a little sad. “I met her when I was visiting my mother’s grave for the last time in Unova. I was about to be shipped off to the Academy and was saying goodbye.” Her face brightens. “Minerva was a friend who showed up at the right time. I was so depressed and she helped me work through it. I’m really grateful to her.”

Looking you in the eyes, she asks, “So, what about your Pokemon? How’d you meet them? What are they like?”

>Response?

[Getting awfully sleepy. Slowing down.]

Let her know the general stuff and give more details if she wants them.

Also Sleepless if you're slowing down we can wait till tomorrow or whenever to pick it up again, this has been fun.

Urgh, fine then. I'll see if I can continue tomorrow morning. If not, the next thread will be some time after Sunday. Or possibly on Sunday. Yes, I can actually run on Sunday evening.

I'll stick around to answer questions and such.

Here are the facts I posted on Twitter: http://pastebin.com/wT9axHxn

I'm not sure we really know enough about them to descibe their personalities well.
>>
>>37896291
I'm assuming that there will be major shit going on with those criminal organizations that we can get into considering who we are, even beyond biological stuff.

That fair to say?
>>
>>37896351

I dunno about that. Shellshocker is pretty laid back but alert when we need him. Cobalt is very subservient, seems completely tied to us. Terra is, well, a baby and still requires quite a bit on care. But she's adorable.
>>
>>37896360

There may be. It truly depends on your courses of action. All these organizations will carry out plans whether or not you interfere. Depending on how you guys play thing, you could have major shit going down with some of the organizations, all of the organizations or none of the organizations.

Shit will go down regardless.

Terra is a sweet babby who needs allll the cuddles.

Good, that keeps things going.
