The room is empty aside from the bed, the chair next to it and the plate of hot food seated on it. It's white and has no windows, so you're not sure at first whether or not your in a house or a onboard a ship, but when you push your legs off the bed and look below, you know; Durasteel - there can be little doubt about it now. You're back on a republic assault ship. How did you get here? What happened? The last thing you remember is pulling up stunned commander Ti and gliding off the roof before the agent's body exploded. The shockwave had sent you into the wall of the house on the other side of the street. Then everything went black. You remember something about thick water, but nothing else.

When you try to rise from the bed it feels like your legs are jelly and to support yourself, you need to lean against the wall to keep yourself up and balanced. It's tough to walk like this, but you endure it. There's a small hint of pain in the back of your head and in your legs, but you ignore it for now. You need to get out of this room first and foremost.

Upon exiting the room, you find yourself in a long winded corridor that's seemingly empty at first glance, but then you spot a man sitting on a chair not too far away from the door to your room. He's fast asleep. Further down the corridor to your left you can see a sign saying "Med bay", and at the end of the right wing you spot the sign "Mess hall & Elevator".

>Interact with the sleeping man.
>Go to the right wing. You might find one of your brothers there.
>Go to the Med bay. They might have information for you.

BTW, after checking the ask.fm I've decided that I'm making my official retirement. Never wanted to annoy anybody's experience on the quest, besides I've almost run out of funny content already and Photoshop is being a bitch these last days. I may still submit a pic or two someday but for the general way I'm out, have no wishes on ruining anybody's experience so I guess the quest may be better without me.

Had fun making pics for you guys, cya :D

You approach the sleeping man while pressing your arms and body against the wall to keep yourself up the best you can. Your legs are weak and it would do you good to either get something to eat or get them checked up later. You remember the hot food in your room, but you weren't hungry then, but your stomach is now releasing low growls. The man is fast asleep and hasn't noticed your approach. His head is hanging low so you can't see whom it is, but you recognize his military uniform; That of the GAR. He must have been here for a while, waiting for you to wake up. He doesn't look like one of your squad mates at first glance, but when you get closer to him you recognize him; The crippled former Echo squad leader. However, he has legs and both of his arms. You stop in your tracks, no sure whether or not you should wake him up, but in the end you find yourself in front of him, standing up straight without the wall's support through sheer willpower.

"How long have you been sitting here?", you ask out loud and the clone wakes up. He's confused and dazed at first, but after regaining his sight he spots you in front of him. He rises from the chair, and surprisingly enough, salutes you, "For three days, sir."

There's a quiet moment between the two of you. You stare at him and he looks back, still at attention and saluting you. You both look the same, but your eyes reflect different thoughts, ideals, personalities, and memories too at this point. However, you've both been through a small part of whatever hell that exists out in the galaxy right now. He lost half his squad, or maybe his entire squad, on Geonosis. You experienced one of the first organic gas attacks that would plague Atraken for months to come. The faces of those children, with their melted faces and their pleading voices as they tugged at their dead mothers dress and the mayor's empty stare, begging for a release to his pain. It all comes flashing before you every time you close your eyes for too long. However, it shouldn't stop you from fighting. It won't stop you. It can't stop you.

"At ease.", you give the man permission to stop standing at attention, which is odd given that the two of you were of the same rank last time you checked, "I'd like to apology for flying off the handle in the mess hall a couple of days ago. It was--", you start off with your apology, but the man facing you interrupts you with a outstretched hand.

"No, sir. I'd like to thank you.", he takes your hand and shakes it and you return the shake in pure reflex, "I was in a very dark place after my entire squad died on... that planet.", he's practically forcing himself to go on without crying. It's hard to look at since you haven't seen anyone cry yet as far as you can remember, "I want to thank you for not giving up on me, sir. While it didn't occurred to me then, I now know you gave me a new chance. A chance to serve the Republic."

Another silent moment befalls upon you both when you break the handshake. This is a bit much too much absorb initially, but you quickly accept it and give him a respectful nod in response. When you see him smile, it reminds you of Joker, prompting the next question.

"Where's my squad?" - and the man's smile falters. Your heart starts to beat faster, harder. All the possibilites racing through your mind. He doesn't respond at first, but simply looks over at the sign saying "Med Bay".

"No.", you utter and rush off towards the med bay. The shock has sparked the strength back into your entire body, as if someone gave you an adrenaline hot. You charge straight into the doors, knocking them open with a large slam. The medical droids and the med bay clone personnel are all shocked at your sudden entrance.

"Where's Sierra Squad?", you ask out, more an order than a question, to the nearest clone. He looks through the charts he's holding onto and gives you three of them. Joker is in operation right now, Ones is resting in after being released from the intensive care unit, while Mute is apparently not here.

"Where's RC01/260?", you ask out loud to the same clone who gave you the charts, "Where's Mute?!", but he looks down into his own charts and then back at you, shaking his head as he does so. He looks confused, but it feels like your heart stops. Your body is shaking lightly. What the fuck happened? Did you fail them? Did you break the promise you made to Joker? The former Echo leader remains out in the hall, probably out of respect.

You throw the chart back to the clone and rush past him, heading towards the resting area where patients are placed after being released from the intensive care unit until they're fit for duty again. You pass by several beds with other clones and aliens lying in them, some of them without limbs, blaster wounds and others who are silently resting with half their faces melted. Soldiers who fought on Atraken just like you and were lucky enough to survive the ordeal. After running past a medical droid, you finally find a familiar face amidst the many wounded. Ones is lying in his bed, his eyes half open as if he just woke up. You stop by his bed and rest for a second. The pain in the back of your head and in your legs are catching up to you now.

"Chief?", Ones mutters when he gets up, resting his back against the pillow, "Didn't think you'd die for a second.", and he smiles at you, "You're just too stubborn to die. A trait your squad has adapted.", his voice is ragged and he's still very tired, but this is the Ones you remember. One of your brothers.

"How is Joker? What happened down there?", the question needs a proper answer, but you can tell that Ones doesn't have the strength to fully answer it.

"After we lost contact with you and Mute, reinforcements came with artillery fire and infantry units.", he start off, letting out a yawn from the medicine coursing through his body, "Joker got shot, and the Major he survived."

Before you can ask any more questions, a medical droid comes rolling up to you, "I'm sorry, commander, but this clone needs to rest now." and without having any of your protests, it ushers you out from the resting area. You didn't get to ask about Mute, but at least you got some information and got to check up on Ones. Good enough for now. Joker is in operation for the shot he took most likely and Mute is MIA as far as you know. If the medical personnel don't have any details on him, he can't be here. It takes you a few minutes to walk out from the med bay, meeting the former echo leader outside. He nods at you when you approach him.

"Where's Mute?", you don't have time to ask much else. He, however, looks at you, obviously confused, "I didn't tell you? I'm sorry, sir. He's in the mess hall, eating lunch at the moment. I brought you lunch after I finished mine." - You feel a wave of relief wash over you; That damn fucking commando is fine after he got you worried?!

>Go see Mute and get something to eat.

"What happened to Commander Ti and Major Rostu?", You ask after you retrieved the food in your room and started your march towards the mess hall with the former echo lead walking next to you in a steady pace.

"General Malcov informed us that Commander Ti has been called to Coruscant by the jedi council. For what, I do not know.", he lets out a small yawn. He couldn't have gotten much sleep in that chair, "Major Rostu is still down on Atraken, leading the 44th division the best he can. They retook the town and after the gas disappeared, they placed constant air support in that area and as far as I know, they still continue their battle down there by the mines and outlying towns against the CIS."

The information both pleases and concerns you. It's good that the major survived after you tried so hard to keep him alive, but it's odd that Yna was called in. Did she do something wrong? Are they rewarding or punishing her? You shake away thoughts and concerns that has nothing to do with you for now right before pushing the doors to the mess hall open. Through all the faces in the crowd of clones and aliens, you easily spot Mute sitting by himself with a new white patch attached to his destroyed eye. He's eating his hot meal, consuming it piece by piece in a very slow manner while he's deep in thought.

You sit down on the opposite side of him with your plate of food and the former echo lead sits down next to Mute. He looks up at you and gives you a short nod as if he acknowledges your presence.

Annnnnd Mute opens up. Nice work!

Serious. Next to General Zen, Mute is probably the most hard to pry info out of thus requiring the 2nd highest grade of rolls possible. Out of friendly characters at least.

Man once Jokers out of the ER we need to load up some food, contraband boozedrinks, rally up Mute to help carry it and drag Ones bed over to Joker and just shoot the shit. We need a chance to laugh in death's face.

We kept that promise, we're all beat up, sore, and injured to a few degrees but we kept it. Sierra Squads still here.

And like fuck am I gonna let Joker brood in some medbay med I will remove medical clankers if need be!

Feels like theres less people this time. I think subjecting them to one of the most brutal battles in the war made them run off.

Mute continue to eat his meal while the former Echo lead remains sitting next to him in silence. He doesn't try to start any conversation with you nor does he ask how you're feeling. Apparently just seeing you up and about is enough of a notice for him.

"What happened down there?", you blurt out in the end, killing the silence, "Why did you go radio silent?" - Mute continues to eat for a couple of seconds before he looks up, his thoughts collected at long last.

"Was attacked. Separatist agent. Broke helmet. Comm too.", he explains in his own odd way. The former Echo lead is still trying to get used to Mute's way of talking, but you've already adapted to it, "Fought agent. She fled. Explosion followed.", and just like that he starts to eat his food again, but you have something more to ask him:

"How are you holding up? Any wounds sustained?", and he looks up faster than before.

"No physical wounds, sir."

"And mentally?"

He pauses, looking straight at you, but it feels like he's staring beyond you or through you, "The girls. Nightmares. Melted faces. Empty stares."

Silence falls over the table once more. Mute is not returning to his meal this time.

>Comfort him. (How?)
>Change the subject. (To what?)
>Leave Mute to collect himself.
>Talk with the former Echo lead instead for now. (About?)

"I know that look, too. After we split up,I went up north. Some troops and I held delaying actions against some droid armor columns. I Found some of those Seppie agents with Yna, fought it out with them. Took one out.

First the torture session now this. Much as he likes his privacy we need to get him to open up sometime soon. I doubt he'll do it in a public area like this but its possible.

Hell starting to feel like the entire squad could use a few hours with some food, drink, and no oversight in a unused maintenance corridor. Not some crying session but straight up manly bonding and getting this crap out of their heads before it rots them from the inside out entirely. All we've got is each other to lean on here. Not many others are going to understand this level of shit. And I don't think anyone in sierra squad would like being sent to the shrinks.

And once everyones nice and drunk after that Joker manages to convince us to pull pranks or something. Nothing harmful but maybe managing to steal master zen's robe and turning it pink or someshit.

Dammit whiskey stop making characters feel so damn real! STOP MAKING ME LIKE THEM SO HARD!

"... The memories will remain. Remember them not for the horror that occurred to them, but for who they were before. Remember their smiles.

Draw strength from those good memories. Remember what we fight for. Avenge them by making sure we do our best to prevent their suffering from occurring to anyone else.

For our lost Brothers. For Humanity. For the Republic.

I'm not gonna tell you how to fell mute, it's hard for me too. I'm no great speaker, but If you need to talk I'm available anytime.
We need to get ready for the next time, so it doesn't happens again. I'm glad you're alive.

And we need to make him see a spychatrist ASAP.

"I know...it's rough for me too. That's why we are going to make sure something like that never happens again.", you reassure him, but he doesn't look very convinced or concerned at all aside from looking straight through you, "The memories will remain. Remember them not for the horror that occurred to them, but for who they were before. Remember their smiles. Draw strength from those good memories. Remember what we fight for. Avenge them by making sure we do our best to prevent their suffering from occurring to anyone else.", and it would seem you've finally caught his attention somewhat.

"For our lost brothers. For the peace that we fight for. For those that are forced to submit to the separatists."

"For the Republic.", the former Echo lead finishes your little speech, and to your utter surprise, Mute actually smiles a little bit. It's more of a sad smile than anything, but it's something. He knew you saw his smile and returned to his meal right after that. A passionate fire is burning in former Echo leads eyes after your speech. If there's any consolation, at least he's ready to fight droids again.

Sounds good. I'd like it if Commandoes were deployed in twin squads, rather than single squads. Maybe Echo's new squad can be our buddies.

Rising from your seat, you wave at Mute to catch what little attention he can give you from his food, "I'm going to go check up on Joker. Meet us in the med bay later." - a nod confirms that he heard you and both you and the former echo lead leaves the mess hall. Along the way, you decide to ask a little bit more about the man walking next to you. "With your new limbs, are you planning to request a new squad or what has High command in mind for you?", you ask, motioning towards his legs and arm. Echo lead chuckles dryly.

"No, they don't have any commandos free for transfer to create a whole new squad, so I've been assigned to the command of another one's team.", he explains and upon noticing your curious stare, waiting for more details, he continues, "I called you 'sir' earlier for a reason, sir.", and to that you stop for a moment in your tracks. What? Didn't commando squads always work in teams of four? Was one of your team mates going to be transfered out? Are Joker's wounds so severe that High command has already picked out a replacement? Impossible, right?

"High command calls it an 'experiment' or so I heard. For the last two days some of the naval officers have been talking about the newly formed 'Republic's Fist', a Commando unit of five commandos. I can only assume that'd be us and High command is spreading rumours about us to raise the morale before the news of what happened on Atraken leaks out to the rest of the GAR."

It makes sense, in a way. You're too tired to think much about it for now. You've sated your hunger and now you need to check up on Joker before you can take care of anthing else. The remaining trip to the medical bay and the route to the intensive care unit where Joker has been placed after his operation, takes a short amount of time. Ten minutes at most. Joker is stuck inside a bacta tank and you spot his wounds the second you enter the room. He was shot in his shoulder and apparently he also lost both his arms to right above his elbows. Once he's out of the bacta tank, have rested, and been re-fitted with new arms, you're sure you can press information out of him as well on what happened after you blacked out.

It would seem your entire squad survived AND you've gained a new addition to it as well. Turning about, you look straight at the former Echo lead again.

"I don't think I ever caught your name."

"It's RC-01/288, sir!", and he salutes you, and you return his salute, "But you can call me Eights, Chief.", he replies with a smile.

///

And here I have to end it tonight. Sorry for the short run, but I'm coughing like hell and I can barely think. Sorry if I made any mistakes during this run.

Next time you'll get the chance to change your codename, paint yours and your squad's armour, and you get to know what Yna was called to Coruscant for!

Thanks for the run, guys!

Is it really that odd though? I mean everyone has a 10% chance to get an 8 and that only increases when we have best of three. We also notice 8s alot more since numbers around that spectrum (7,8,9) are usually the numbers we need to pass most DCs. We probably roll more 2s than 8s but we don't notice them cause they never pass.

>So, a few threads ago you told us about that, after this quest, you'd be running a quest that took place after Knightfall. Can you tell us about the possible role we'll be playing? Like, will we be an ex-Jedi, Smuggler, Rebel, etc.

>I can only tell you about the roles I'll be offering for you to pick through or the roles I'm considering on picking to avoid much arguing over what everyone wants to play as. If I give the option for the players to pick one, the other three characters that wasn't picked will still be featured in the quest and have prominent roles along the way.

An Ex-Jedi that was part of a Jedi strike team during Order 66 and when he and his team returned to the Jedi Temple after Lord Vader put up the distress signal, only this ex-Jedi survived the clone ambush at the temple. Several years after Operation Knightfall and Order 66, this ex-Jedi finds himself thrown into a new journey that might change his life forever.

A new Bounty Hunter who's looking for fame and glory. After gaining a small reputation from taking down a big bounty, this particular Bounty Hunter is set up with an Imperial contract to hunt Jedi. This could be his chance to carve his name into the histories of galactic legends such as Jango Fett!

Breed and groomed by the Emperor since he took you away from your parents, you find yourself in the role of the Emperor's Hand, serving as a secret agent that deals with matters such as assassination, intelligence gathering, covert operations and hunting Jedi. He has trained you in lightsaber combat and some force usage.

A man/woman with a blank slate leaves their homeplanet to seek fame, glory, riches and/or just a place where they belong. The tale of a young mercenary.

From Whiskey's Ask. I'm enjoying this quest a lot, but I am also looking forward to his next one. Git hype!
