You are Kagome Higurashi, an average teenage girl from Tokyo. Well at least you WERE average. After a series of strange and unfortunate events you find yourself in a strange place with even stranger people.

After becoming a willing captive of Sango, the demon hunter, for a little over a day and night of strenuous none-stop travel you finally came face to face with Koga, leader of the wolf demon tribe. The smug demon offered you one final request and seeing no other alternatives at the time you challenged him to a duel.

Something twists and warps inside of you…

Kagome; assess your character sheet:

HP: 9/18
Energy: 55/100
Fate Challenges: 4/4

>2 stat points (any non-personality stat)
>1 power from the skill tree (next post, can be at any level)

Is Toughness something we can level up?
>>
>>37825687
>Like I said, ANY non-personality stat:
HP
Energy
Evasion
Toughness
Strength

>If HP is selected, you get +2 to that stat. if Energy is selected, You'll get +10 to that stat. Every other stat listed will increase by 1 point if selected.
>>
>>37825573
I don't know, since we were just in a big fight how about HP and Toughness, and then take Honed Body for increases to Strength and Evasion?
>>
>>37825573

My inner geek is wanting to purchase Purity Blade. It's pretty spiffy if we want to get in a sucker punch or if we get disarmed, although Honed Body 2/2 would probably offer us more consistency for bonuses to rolls.
>>
>>37825819
I'd like more in strength with as lightly as we're hitting.

Maybe two in ST - Honed body for Toughness and Evasion?

Also evening snow.
>>
>>37825838
>Pick one
>two stat boosts
>... or the talent thing that gives us two stat boosts
>>
>>37825838
I don't think we can get purity blade. That's a tier three we'd have to snag Pressure wave first.
>>
>>37825867

Either way, it's the same thing right?

>>37825868

Snow said we could get 1 power from the skill tree at any level, though Pressure Wave might be a bit more useful since we're using a 2H weapon at the moment.
>>
>>37825868
He just said "can be any level"

So maybe we should splurge?
>>
>>37825868
You can get Purity Blade if you want. The talents are not linked together right now aside from Sutras and Seals.
>>
>>37825573
Imbue might be good, especially if we decide to learn archery as well.
>>
>>37825541
Pressure Wave
>>
>>37825907

Does imbue just make our next attack hit harder with holy junk? Or can we use it to shoot out an energy wave or such?
>>
>>37825907
Ah well then I'd swap to that or "I make my own luck."

But you may want to have a separate spot for a vote. This is a bit cluttered.
>>
>>37825943
It fucks up our demon thats powering up the weapon we use
voting for Pressure wave and Evasion
>>
>Ok, it seems like most want to pick something from the skill tree.
>You can select any one power listed, however any and all qualifications or restrictions for powers still apply.
>Reply to this post with your vote.

Evening, Snow.
>>2 stat points (any non-personality stat)
I'd go for two points in toughness. I'm always in favour of not getting hurt.

>>
>>37826089

What does "I make my own luck" mean by "entire combat dice pool"? Does that mean we can reroll one dice for every roll made during a combat encounter? Or does it provide us just one reroll?
>>
>>37826269
>If you are in combat say you're rolling to hit, dodge, ect, you can use that to reroll every dice in that one pool and make a new one.
>For instance say you're trying to dodge a ronin and you roll two 2's and a 7 to dodge or attack, you can use this skill (once per session) to reroll your dice for that action

Koga stands there gritting his blood stained teeth. You see his eyes widen as you flick the top of the jar of your salt off and he rushes you without hesitation, the flames emitting from his bracelets noticeably duller than before as if to reflect his waning life.

You leap backwards and tilt the pot. It hits the ground and a thin pink light flickers as Koga rams his fist into it and pushes through striking you in the shoulder and throwing you from your feet. It doesn’t seem much of the salt spilled however and you scramble to grab it and at least draw a circle around yourself when a wetness hits your face.

Looking around you the men are in disarray and fighting one another. Koga stands over you, a shimmering silver blade protruding from the side of his gut and a frail arm wrapped around his chest and throat holding him in place.

The demon opens his mouth to gasp, but no air is afforded. He coughs sending a crimson mist in the air, his last remaining good arm feebly reaches for the blade where he clutches it trembling in a futile attempt to remove it.

His posture slowly slumps as his feet kick, but the enemy arm bracing him does not break its grip. The blade turns and his back arcs as tears run from his eyes and his body goes limp as does the arm holding him. The wolf demon falls forward revealing the same man in a white fur cloak you saw weeks ago. A small boy by his side.

As the wolf demon hits the ground, Kujo falls to his knees from an apparent sprint, sliding next to the wolf demon he drops his still sheathed blade, flipping the demon over and checking his eyes as he reaches into his own robes screaming incoherently.

You pause a moment raising an eyebrow as you look up at the man in the still pristine white fur cloak. There’s a small boy next to him with holding some kind of chained sickle and a pony tail wearing some of the rattiest cloths you’ve seen. The blade used to stab Koga from behind lays bloodied and abandoned near the body as Kujo furiously begins removing the tattered remains of the wolf demons armor, exposing his chest.

“Will someone please explain what the hell is going on?” you shout over the screams of the other wolf demons and presumably Inuyasha currently engaging in a melee.

“I was supposed to kill him. Not you, not him… ME.” The merchant responds seemingly to himself, placing a cloth over the stab wound and turning Koga on his side where he vomits out a chunk of clotted blood.

Something that would have made you squirm only weeks ago barely registers as you try and right yourself, feeling a bit light headed. “Ya I get that, so why are you helping him? You wanted this right?”

Kujo stops for a moment, looking at the broken body before you. “This? I never asked for this.” The merchant sighs and loosens his grip on the soaked cloth as he stands up. The wolf demons eyes glassy and devoid of life.

Kujo bends down and picks up the blade he dropped previously, slipping it into his belt as he walks off towards a deeper part of the camp. “What a waste.”

A wave of guilt washes over you, not for assisting in the taking of a life, but in seeing another mans only remaining hope extinguished. The chance to avenge the death of his family pulled from under him.

Although he’s since disappeared among the trees and tents, you’re compelled to follow him and make sure he doesn’t do anything stupid.

You stagger to your feet and begin hobbling in that direction before remembering the Lord and… his son maybe? Standing there silent. You attempt to bow, but the current state of your body does not allow for such motion and a searing pain rips through your chest.

“SorryandthankyouIhavetomakesurehedoesn’tdoanythingfoolish.” You wince before “racing” off back behind the tents, not bothering to wait for a dismissal.

Easily evading a few stray wolf men fleeing in terror and dodging around tents and stumps, you finally spot Kujo standing by the edge of the forest with his back turned toward you. He flicks a paintbrush off to the side before realizing your presence and turning around.

“You shouldn’t have followed me you know.”

He falls ass first into the ground, leaning up against a tree.

“I… it wasn’t supposed to be like this. I kill him, he kills me... “ He bites hit lip struggling to choke back tears “It’s selfish, but I don’t even know what I’m supposed to do right now… I never even…”

“Look Kujo” you say, kneeling in front of him, “I can’t imagine how you feel right now, and I’m not going to pretend I do. It hurts. THAT I know and can relate to. The last time I saw my family my mother tried to kill me and I left my brother and grandfather alone with her as I ran. I ran away and I don’t know if they’re alive or dead. I’ll have to live with that cowardice until the day I die. That memory crippled me, but I kept moving forward.” You stand up now, straightening your back.
“Even though you feel like there is no rhyme or reason, or that you lack purpose, there’s always a light. When tragedy struck you road out determined and filled with purpose. A purpose which I promise you’ll find again. What do you do now Kujo? You live. You become something more. Today you assured your sons revenge and your enemies’ complete destruction. There’s a brand new chapter in your life just waiting to be written, now get up off your ass and write it.”

“… You’re not very good at that you know.” He says, pressing his back against the trunk, sliding up against it until he stands. “But I guess you do have a point.”

His sword hefted over his shoulder in its original form. “Swords broke er’ somethen I guess.” He adds catching you eyeing it before turning his head toward the Lord, now a few paces from your reunion, his young cohort still silent and at his side.

“We hope we aren’t interrupting anything, but there is a pressing issues we must discuss.” The clocked man says, dropping Kogas bracelets to the ground at your feet. “Tell me… have any of you heard of Uur-up?”

Well if that's the case, thanks for putting the time in for short threads. Make sure it doesn't stop you from doing things that are actually important though.

So the boy with Lord Kagewaki sounds like a silver haired Kohaku. You guys think Sango was a double agent all along or was she trying to draw him out.
>>
>>37831297
Silver haired? Where did you get that? And it's absolutly Kohaku. The question is... is he being controlled and if so, how?

Also Are we fighting Liches next? Is the future really that hard endgame that an implied Legion of Doom of liches is the next difficulty from a scrubby wolf demon? actually surprised he ended up dying... really wanted some banter with him and Inuyasha... however the position for Wulf Queen is open like we wanted so long ago.
>>
>>37831371
I feel like Kujo would make any kind of diplomacy with Koga kind of untenable.

Though I think there might have been more to the wolves than we found out. Also I think that chick who was Koga's love interest might take charge. Probably swear vengeance upon us even though we didn't ask for interference.
>>
>>37831470
If she hasn't been mauled by Inuyasha, Sango, or Yura controlling Kogas pack she will most certainly swear revenge. Trouble is she has such a kind non-confrontational heart I don't think she's up to task.

As for diplomacy, this is /tg/. We'd diplomance Frieza if given the chance. Words over actions. It's the /tg/ way.

Thanks guy; reminds me I should maybe vote for some of those.

Any idea what the interlude may be? Did we ever found out what was up with those future guys from a while back?
>>
>>37831891
I don't believe so unfortunately.

I'm sure it'll spring up and ruin our day eventually.
>>
>>37832058
I almost want them to sort of show up in the middle of the brawl, fire some guns in the air and tell people they're taking charge. Not their style, but still. The idea of a 1930's style rumrunner mob taking charge in ancient japan tingles me.
>>
>>37832111
It's amusing but unless they've got some seriously modified equipment I don't think they could handle a mid to high level demon.

And then Shippo kills them all with fuckign Spinning Top by accident.
>>
So, are we going to try and keep it alive for an interlude?
>>
>>37832469
I want to.. but I'm going to be passing out in the next 5 to 10 minutes. So I can't actually put forth any effort towards that.

Sort of upset we didn't kill Koga. Not sure we'll be able to demand the loyalty of wolves and start a mercenary band or some such.
>>
>>37832515
Naraku killstole us hard, but we were the ones beating him to death in the first place.
And that's even if Yura left any alive to follow us.
>>
>>37832533
Well she has to get her hair one way or another. Reminds me we still owe her conditioner.
>>
>>37832570
I just want her back in the story. Still a little weird that she'd get rid of even a single strand of hair like she did when we met her by the river.

Is there a Scared Jew Quest? Maybe set in the 40s?
>>
So would Sango be angry with us? I mean her job was to bring us to Koga, and he was the one who agreed to fight us.
>>
>>37833035
She may have gotten awkward forbidden feels for him maybe. Honestly I was expecting the killer to be her. willing to bet that D3 we rolled at the start decided who it was.

Nah, they'd toss nine-bangers everywhere and just start popping heads while everyone is reeling. Buckshot, slugs, and plenty of 7.62 will solve problems big and small, with bigger problems easily assuaged XCOM-style, with the healthy application of rockets and grenades.

Either that, or they'd have figured out how to stabilize and widen a separate portal large enough to fit trucks through, and just barrel through the Japanese countryside with MBT's and MRAP's, mechanized warfare blitz style.

Or one of those earlier rolls was to determine the survivability of the items in our backpack.
>>
>>37838125
I don't think so, that wouldn't really make much sense. Hell I doubt many even look at the backpack section of the character sheet which makes me all the more suspicious the QM plants ruses or clues there.
>>
>>37839191
I dunno, might be a decent way to screw with us, rolling dice to determine our inventory's status without outright telling us. Then we'll just go paranoid on what the rolls were for.
>>
>>37836531
but he has both hands
>>
>>37840198
Didn't he get an arm lopped off- wait, that was in canon. Did the mutt not do that here?
>>
>>37840308
Nope.
He confronted InuYasha, we assumed direct control of dogboy and we KO'd him so quick and handily we stunned the QM. Then we went to the underworld without any fights or trouble and collected the sword without a problem.

Oh and also Yura cut his hair while he was unconscious and when we returned we found her split in half or something so he didn't take kindly to it.
>>
>>37840308
If you haven't, check out the archives. It starts off slow as the QM gets his berrings, but there are some legitimately fantastic moments sprinkled throughout. Especially the fights.
>>
>>37840357

>>37840451

>>
>>37840631
Good.
>>
>>37840631
>Countless canon fodder is being scalped.
That raises an interesting question.
What happens when Yura consumes more hair than needed to make her body? Does she get bigger or just denser? Does her strength scale as a result?
>>
>>37840910
Strength might increase I'd assume denser rather than bigger.
>>
>>37840910
>>37840962
Good question considering most of it was in a giant nest in canon.
Betting she works off Bayonetta logic now in that "Oh hey she has a lot so she can do whatever you guys think is cool." only how she won't have to unwind parts of herself to do it like she was before. also she's kind of lich like isn't she?

I vote Yura. Either see what the hell she was doing or maybe get some background with the theories about her going around.
>>
>>37843519
Kagura, maybe?
>>
>>37843600
We've had minimal exposure to her. I mean if we're trying to get as much meta knowledge as possible just vote Naraku.
>>
>>37843624
Honestly, I'm just curious. A lot of things are different from canon, and with the totally-not-a-baboonbot here, her absence is... potentially interesting.
>>
>>37843727
Not entirely. That baboon did a lot of thing without her in cannon. Remember we're still really really early.
>>
>>37843600

How about Sango? I'm curious to see why she was implied to have attacked Inuyasha, despite having her own reservations about delivering us to Koga and seeing as how she was playing Koga to her own ends as well.
>>
>>37830847
So I forget, Inuyasha's sword normally changes to its base form right?
>>
>>37844406
Yes? Did it not? I'll re-read. It can only transform if he's protecting a human or some such like that.
>>
>>37844730
His sword first transformed when we fought Sango at the cabin I think. Seems like it didn't transform during the brawl.
>>

Right. He wasn't directly defending us. Or Kagome has gotten further away from human.

We couldn't pull out his sword in the first place, Kujo had to.

That really doesn't bode well for anyone but Naraku.
>>
>>37845943
He dropped Sheshomaru though. So clearly he's doing fine.

As Kagome we're also becoming a bit of a bruiser.
>>
>>37846016
I meant more that Kagome is losing her purity and maybe even her humanity, which... I don't think you comprehend how bad that is for everyone.
>>
>>37846426
Eh. Humanity is overrated.
Sure, it's going to be incredibly traumatising for Kagome to come to terms with, but it should be fun for us.

The sun begins to break the horizon, its yellow light floods the room and shimmers off the quiet oceans in the nearby distance. The sound of gulls fills your ears You sigh and look into your long since cold cup of tea. You shift in place uneasily, tugging your kimono. Anything to keep your mind off the conversation.

This… obnoxious young man in front of you has done everything in his power to flatter you; from buying you drinks to… attempting to buy your “company” even. The freshly rising sun does nothing but increase your agitation as it has now made you painfully aware of how much time you’ve wasted here.

He drinks deeply of another bowl of sake before raising it above his head laughing as he orders another from one of his servants… “clearly escorts” you mentally correct yourself furrowing your brow.

“have you heard the one about the Nekomata and the Kiyohime?”

“I have not young lord.”
You have.
Several times tonight.

The purple clad fool begins recanting the tale yet again and you can’t help but smirk. Each time he tells it it’s always a little different.

You take off your “glasses” and place them on the table, downing your tea in a single swallow. A part of you wishes it were poisoned. At least in your death you’d be free of this baffoon. Taking the frames back into your hand, you begin to fiddle with them without breaking contact from the “monk”. This facial jewelry a strange relic from a strange woman you and your Lord encountered but a short time ago. Unusual in dress, tongue, and mannerisms. More such individuals have been flooding your ports recently as your Lord attempts to move forward with his plans for “unification” and with that, bring the human district of your Lords city back under his complete control.

A few days ago your Lord departed from the city alone with a young boy he hired, bought, or adopted from a tribe of demon slayers several weeks ago. If you didn’t know better you could swear he was looking to replace you or further expand his personal retainer.

“-ays to the… says to the…” The fool breaks into uncontrollable laughter at his own joke before taking a deep drag from some sort of imported brass pipe, offering it to his “servants” now eagerly massaging his chest and shoulders.

“If we could please refoc-“ you say, motioning to the pile of scrolls you brought with you before you’re cut off.
“Oh come on, Kagura was it? Relax! Live a little! We have plenty of ti… oh.” He says finally looking out the window.

“My my would you look at the time! It seems that the meeting’s gone over, leave the scrolls and I’ll look over them today. Promise!” He says, physically shooing you out of the room and closing the door behind you.

You have little idea for what purpose you where brought into this world, but this most certainly is not it. No... you were made for something more.

Willing to bet there's still the one, but Naraku has opened up trade with Europe waaaaay ahead of schedule. That said, it's likely that agents are having an easier time "blending in" or that they've maybe even set up a small outpost there since they could more easily get away with weird looking armor or tech.
>>
>>37847961

I think that it's more along the lines of Japan receiving/hosting merchants or diplomats from other western nations at this time.

Well, the feudal era in Japan lasted from 1100 - 1600 AD. Spectacles or glasses were first observed around 1200-1400, though the style that Kagura was shown to be wearing was far too modern to have come from those times.
>>
>>37848229
It's around 1540-1550 AD. This was when Oda Nobunaga was known as "The Fool", before he started warring around.

Alone at last. Alone. You mull the word, struggling to prevent it from passing your lips. In a sense you always have been alone despite what that chittering imp would believe. For as long as you remember you’ve stood at the highest plateau head and shoulders above any man or demon; yet…

You open your clenched fist, a stray breeze sends loose a few strands of your perfect hair amiss and into the wild.

…And yet you had been laid low by that trash. Inuyasha… the very thought of his name brings your blood to a boil, a feeling you rarely if ever experienced before. How disgusting that a half demon should share fathers bloodline with you. The worthless cur not only claimed YOUR birthright, but knocked you down to his level. Crawling in the dirt like a commoner. Carelessness. You were careless. That is all. You held back on your dear brother, applying only the minimal force needed to crush such an insect and you underestimated him. A fluke. It will not happen again.

Does Sesshomaru have an ugly bald spot on the side of his head now?
>>
>>37850743
Ha ha, denial. But deep down he knows. He knows.
>>
You calm your breathing as the wind kicks up once more, freeing the remaining strands of your once beautiful hair and gifting it to an undeserving world. The woman who had cut it paid with her life. An easy task thanks to your poison claws, and an easier task still to rip your sheered pelt from her gut.

To add insult to injury this day, fathers swordsmith had gifted you leftovers. A worthless blade by the name of Tenseiga, “a sword unable to cut”. A hunk of scrap metal peeled from Tessaiga almost as an afterthought.

It’s clear your late father must be punishing you for something, but you simply cannot fathom what. For years you willingly and loyally served him without need or want and this is how repays you? Taking a human wife, fathering a cur, and giving you, his first son, a blade that refuses to cut?

No, clearly father is in err and Inuyasha must be made to pay for his transgressions.

A scent on the wind. You’ve stood still for far too long and a nice walk should help you refocus. After all you know just the direction to head.

“Steel yourself “brother”. I will have what is mine.”
>>

>Or perhaps he was simply ensuring his mark was thoroughly disarmed... Or maybe he simply recognized the bracelets from seeing imported look-alikes and has simply brought them with him to inquire you about them... or perhaps he's hoping you'll take them. The mind of a noble can be hard to place you know. You sure are assuming a lot about a fellow you've only met twice.

Uh oh, someone's learning about the future.

But is it Kujo, Songo, or Naraku?

Smart money is Yura. I don't think Kujo knows how to read? I doubt inuyasha would duck with our bags and I think maybe some of the stuff changed before?
We've only seen nataku once too.

Well this could be a pickle if that is the case...
I kind of want it to be Sango since she'd matter the least honestly.

Does Yura know how to read? Does Inuyasha? I thought Kujo would just due to his merchant status.

Yura doesn't seem like the type to want to rule an empire. Everyone keeps painting her as a mindless killer.

I personally want to nat20 hug her into some semblance of sanity.

Never gunna happen. She gets too much joy from murder.

Kujo should know how to read
Inuyasha probably doesn't and if he does, not well
Sango may have rifled through, but probably wouldn't have bothered to read anything
Naraku has been nowhere near our bags at any point
Yura doesn't seem to have any life skills or knowledge outside of hair care and murder

You can't stop me from trying. I will hug the shit out of her.

Also not sure about changes in writing but a lot of the terminology in that book should be totally fucking foreign to anyone from this Era. I'm not sure how much the language itself has changed though.

Fantastic points.
Bell modern English is vastly different than the 1500s edition as far as slang and spelling go.
No idea how much the Japanese language has changed. Might not be much since the culture is very focused on tradition and the language is already complex with all the kanji and Kami and kido or whatever.
