Currently you are seated in the kitchen of the Inn you’re staying at for vacation, eating breakfast with the landlady. Said landlady is a middle aged looking woman who happens to sport long lavender colored hair and matching eyes. As you sit there eating in the traditional kitchen, the sounds of everyone else eating out in the main dining hall filtering through, Miya turns to you.

“So, John,” she says between bites of food, “Karasuba has mentioned you as being her “Friend” several times, but she’s always been rather vague on how exactly you met and how close of friends you really are. Would you care to enlighten a poor old lady like me on it?”

You take a minute to gather your thoughts on what exactly you and Karasuba are, seeing as how the relationship you have with her is not exactly the most normal one. But in the end it really boils down to two things so all that matters is how you say it.

“Well,” you say to Miya, “First off she’s my swordsmanship teacher and a damn good one at that.”

“Oh?” says Miya, clearly a little bit surprised, “How did that happen?”

“Well, it started in the first day of PE,” you say, “Her idea of an introduction was to run around and hit the entire class with a sword to find out just how fit we were.”

“That sounds like her,” says Miya with a grin.

“Anyway, I was still pretty weak back then, so I was expecting to get whooped pretty badly. Luckily one of my friends was strong enough to stop Karasuba for a second so that I could hit her.”

“Oh?” says Miya, her head tilting slightly, “You managed to hit her so early?”

“It wasn’t much of a hit,” you admit, “But it was enough to get her attention and offer me “Extra Credit” after class. That was when I really got her attention, I managed to hit her with a training sword that time.”

Miya’s eyes widen at your statement. “Really?” she says, “That’s quite an accomplishment.”

You shake your head. “It really wasn’t I just surprised her a bit. She hit me back too, that hurt a lot.”

“I would imagine it would,” says Miya with a quirk on her lips.

“But that’s how she started teaching me,” you say, “We’ve been through a lot together since then, I’ve even beat her in a fight a few times.”

“Yes,” you admit with a smile, “That was the won where I fought till I dropped. Afterwards…afterwards she kissed me and I became her Ashikabi, even though I didn’t know what that meant back then.

Miya’s face lights up at that, then drops to her lap as she apparently thinks things over. As you wait, you feel a plot point come up, the first since…that time. However, this one is nothing like any of the ones before, even the ones with Chris and Kaede. This one seems…playful? Teasing almost?

Your mind wrestles with the idea of poking the plot point. Last time you did it you lost your girls, your memories of your girls and had to spend a lot of time and effort getting them back, though you did get them back and a few more besides for the effort, making you stronger in the end as well. You also discovered there was an evil diety/character/thing out to kill you and everyone you ever loved, which is a good thing in the end, otherwise it could have blindsided you. So you press the button, power flowing out of you.

You don’t feel anything for a second, then you here what would best be described as a muted “Poof”. Then there’s a loud clatter outside, accompanied by the sound of someone crying, it sounds like a little girl. That voice is quickly joined in by many others, causing you and Miya to stare at each other in confusion before you run out into the dining hall. The sight that greets your eyes is…

Little girls, dozens upon hundreds of little girls are now in the dining room. Where they’ve come from you have no idea, at least until you recognize a few of them. They’re the delinquents. Except now they are short and cute and pulling on each other’s faces instead of punching each other. A few of them are crying, but not many.

“What?” you say, looking at the group. A few of them see you, most of them turning and running at you.

“Big bro big bro!” they exclaim, "Play with us play with us!" grabbing your legs at first, then more climbing onto your back and hanging off of you as Miya looks on a little bit and laughs.

You have no idea what is going on.

“Oh, but John you seem to be doing so well with them,” Miya laughs at you, little girls swarming around your ankles, making you worry about accidentally hurting one of them.

“Please?” you ask, even as one of them manages to kick you in the shin. How the hell do they make that hurt so much? You’ve been stabbed by Karasuba for crying out loud!

“Fine fine,” says Miya, waving her hand at you and then clapping loudly, drawing the attention of most of the girls. “Oh girls,” she says in a sing-song motherly voice, “Who wants some tea and cookies?”

There’s a pause as the girls all look at Miya and then they launch themselves off of you and scramble towards Miya.

“Cookies, cookies!” they all shout.

“Now, now,” says Miya, that strangely motherly voice somehow controlling the mass of girls, “You all need to behave and act like ladies or no cookies for you.”

That manages to get most of the girls to be quiet at least, all of them standing with barely controlled eagerness in front of the motherly looking landlady.

“I’ve got these, John,” says Miya, smiling at you, “You should go try to find the others until I can find a way to fix this.”

“Ok,” you say, even as Miya leads most of the little delinquent girls into the kitchen.

Your thoughts immediately rush to your own set of rooms upstairs, where you figure that most of your girls still are. It’s not that late, so you’re hoping that none of them have left the building yet. You take the stairs two at a time, having to dodge past a little witch-ball player as she speeds by giggling on her broom. You hope that not too many of them managed to find the equipment, that could be a lot of trouble to deal with.

As you make it up to your rooms, you see that most of the doors are closed. Knocking on the first door doesn’t immediately reveal anything, but you hear a small thump as somebody moves around, then another as there is a patter of small feet. Slowly the door opens, revealing two faces. One is bright and eager, with a large head of black hair, the other is mostly asleep, with an even larger head of blue hair.

“John!” says the tiny Akeno, who immediately runs up to you and grasps the bottom of your shirt, “Pick me up pick me up I wanna give you a kiss!”

“Akeno?” you say, still a little slow, causing her to give you a little shock.

“Of course it’s me dummy!” she says, pouting at you, “Who else would it be? Now pick me up!”

You finally accede to her demands, bending down and letting her climb into your arm, her face brightening as she can finally reach your cheek to give you a kiss.

“Love you!” she says with a giggle, even as you feel a weight on your back. Turning your head, you see the shock of blue hair that indicates that Tatsuko has managed to climb onto you, her head resting on your shoulder with sleepy eyes.

“Tatsuko?” you ask, even as you hold Akeno with one hand.

“Mmm…” says the tiny Tatsuko, her arms still remarkably strong as she holds her hands around your neck, apparently content to rest there.

Your first instinct like always when faced by a potential threat to your girls, is to protect them with your own body. Even as Nanoha points her wand of lasery doom at you, you turn and scrunch yourself as best you can, putting most of your body between them and Nanoha.

You wait one…two…five…ten seconds and still nothing comes. You open your eyes just in time to see Nanoha right in front of you, a smile on her face as she giggles and bops you on the head with her wand. Which you now notice is plastic and has a light on the end.

“Got ya!” she says, before wrapping her tiny arms around your chest and hugging you, “Now we’re friends forever and ever!”

You can’t help but let out a snort, wrapping an arm around Nanoha and picking her up as she continues to wave her wand around.

“I thought we were already friends forever and ever?” you ask her, walking down the hallway to the other doors.

“I just made extra special sure!” says Nanoha, even as Akeno pokes her in the side.

“That wasn’t funny!” says Akeno, tiny sparks flying at Nanoha.

“Was too!” says Nanoha, swinging her wand around at Akeno.

“Girls, girls,” you say, pulling them slightly away from each other, “No fighting or I’m going to have to put you down.”

That quiets both of them, though they pout a bit as you go down the line of doors. Most of them are empty, but reaching the end door reveals a figure standing tall…up to your waist.

“Not a single word,” says the tiny Kazane, a lollipop in her mouth as she looks up at you.

You remain silent, though you can’t quite keep a smile off your face as Kazane’s hair has been switched from her relatively stylish delinquent hair into a set of tiny pigtails, one pointing out the front side of her head dyed an off shade of red and the other dangling low on the other side.

“Not a single word,” she says again, her voice much higher pitched than normal.

“Headmistress looks cute!” says Akeno, giggling against your chest.

Kazane just sighs, the lollipop in her mouth moving from side to side.

“Just take us downstairs,” she says with a sigh, her hand grabbing onto your shirt as you lead the four downstairs to Miya and the delinquents, who are mostly behaving, drinking tea and eating cookies while talking happily.

After settling your girls in, you now have to decide where else to go.

The workout wing is probably where you’ll find Karasuba, so you decide to head down that way. You spot a few delinquent girls still wandering around, but you easily send them to Miya with the promises of tea and cookies. Mostly cookies. You hear a commotion as you approach the big dojo/workout room, so you increase your step speed and open the door in a rush.

Inside is absolute chaos, almost a hundred girls running around and hitting each other with small childish weapons, some making little gouts of flame or water come out of their hands. In the corner you see…three tiny angels a reaper, a blonde girl and a shock of blue hair holding off all comers, though they seem to quickly pop back up and come at them again.

In the middle of all of it you see a tiny black haired girl who is laughing uncontrollably as she is repeatedly dog-piled by the smaller girls and then surges back up, tossing them around like ragdolls and then charging another group to do it again.

You need to make a hole to get to your girls, but you don’t think that you should force your way through, you might hurt somebody.

Taking a deep breath you yell, “Tea and cookies in the dining room!”

This draws a few eyes to you, but not enough.

“Miya has cookies!” you yell, trying to get the girls attention.

The mention of Miya draws more eyes, but then you realize your problem. This isn’t more delinquents; this is the group of girls from before, the ones like Karasuba and Akitsu. Apparently the draw of cookies is not enough for them.

“Miya is in the dining room waiting for everyone!” you yell, “She want’s everybody there for tea and cookies!”

That gets enough girls going that you can head to the main holdup of the rest of them, the fact that Momoyo is still fighting them even though they’re trying to leave.

“Hey, stop that,” you say, just in time to catch a punch to the gut.

“But fighting is so much fun!” she says, attempting to punch you again, “I’m the strongest!”

You disprove this fact by grabbing her arm and holding it, causing her to tug on it and then look up at you with a frown.

“Hey, let go!” she says, attempting to swing at you again with her other hand.

You grab that one too, shaking your head at her.

“I don’t think so,” you say, picking her up and throwing her over your shoulder as most of the rest of the girls finally escape, leaving only the squirming Momoyo kicking at your back and the rest of your girls in the corner.

“It’s about time you got here!” says a tiny blue haired Elizasleyn as she floats around your head, “There were so many of them that we couldn’t even move.”

“Sorry, sorry,” you say as Melodiana and Mehisha join her, all of them floating about your head on tiny flapping wings, “I was a little busy.”

“Hmph,” Elizasleyn says, even as you suddenly feel a weight on your shoulder, a tiny Ragsmuena now perched there as she holds onto your neck with a toy scythe.

You look down as you get kicked in the shin, seeing a small Kaname glaring at you.

“You took too long!” she says, her face red, “I was worried about you!”

“Worried about me?” you ask, squatting down to look at her, “Why?”

“Because you’re always in the middle of it when something like this happens and you always go try to fix everything and then you get hurt and make me worry and and…” it’s at this point that Kaname breaks down and starts crying.

Immediately you kneel down and give Kaname’s new small body a hug, her head resting in the crook of your neck as Ragsmuena pats the top of it.

“Shh, shh,” you say, a little unused to this, “I’m fine, I’m here, I’m fine and I’ll always be fine ok?”

“No you aren’t!” says Kaname as she cries, “You always go out and be brave and stupid and get stabbed and almost die!”

“But I always come back,” you say, noting in your head that most of the time it’s actually between you and Karasuba that you get hurt, but Kaname doesn’t want to hear that right now.

“But what if you don’t!” cries Kaname, “You’re always so big and goofy and warm and…” she slowly stops crying, hiccupping into your shoulder.

“I’ll come back,” you say, “every time.”

“Promise?” says Kaname, looking up at you with big watery eyes.

“I promise,” you say, picking her up in your arm as Ragsmuena continues to rub her hair, an equally tiny Mehisha perched on her shoulder.

You look down and see a tiny Chris looking up at you, her face screwed up in a pout.

“What?” you ask her.

“Carry me too!” she says, stomping her foot and waving her tiny toy rapier at you. You look at your hands, one holding a still squirming Momoyo, the other a still sniffing Kaname.

“Uh…” you say, which gets you poked by Chris’s sword.

“Me too!” she says, tears appearing in the corners of her eyes.

In the end you manage to get Chris to climb onto your back, making the whole procession back to the dining room look rather strange, as Chris’s legs wrap around your neck, Momoyo precariously balanced on the rest of your shoulder while Elizasleyn sits on her head. Ragsmuena hops onto Kaname’s left shoulder and holds onto her neck while patting her head, Mehisha still on her right. Melodiana completes the ensemble, perched on top of Chris’s head, spear pointed forwards as you march through the hallways.

The dining room is less a scene of chaos than you expected, most of the original delinquents now asleep in small piles as Miya continues to serve tea and cookies to the remainder and the new arrivals.

“How much tea do you have?” you ask her as you plop the various girls down at the same table as the rest of yours, Tatsuko already having drifted off to sleep face down on the table.

“Enough,” says Miya with a giggle, “Now go get the rest of them.”

The rest of them…right. That means heading down to the spa.

As you make your way there, you begin to hear…explosions?

You increase your steps, then begin to run as you hear more and more of them. Flinging open the door reveals…

A war zone, in miniature. The main pool is filled with a half dozen small ships, the girls from before apparently in charge of them as miniature missiles and little lasers fire every which way. In the air is the witchball team, all dodging about and dropping little rocks at the ships, which dodge frantically back and forth while firing at the witches. On the shore you see a tiny Aurora, who’s carrying…a log? And yelling “Push em towards me, push em towards me!” as she swings it over the water. Meanwhile, there is a tiny Karasuba perched on top of the tallest part of one of the ships, waving her sword at the flying girls yelling, “Move me closer I want to hit them with my sword!” Finally, you notice Akitsu and Kaede on the blue-haired girls ship, Akitsu sending tiny snowballs everywhere while Kaede points a pellet gun around.

You don’t think cookies and tea is going to stop this one.

Despite the fact that she is currently not doing a whole lot, you don’t want to give Karasuba any more time to try and think of ways to get up to something with that little sword of hers. Taking off your shoes, you set them to the side as you begin to wade out into the pool towards Karasuba and the ship she is perched on. She doesn’t see you coming, being focused on the witches still zooming about, though they seem to be staying away from you for the most part.

Just in time to see you reaching about, Karasuba turns, her eyes wide as you grab her by the back of the neck and pull her off of the ship.

“Hey, put me down put me down!” she says, her legs kicking as her sword whacks your arm a few times before you take it away, placing it in your pocket as you tuck her under your arm.

“I don’t think so,” you say, even as the blue haired girl…Takao, maneuvers her ship closer to you, Akitsu and Kaede jumping up on your shoulders even as they continue to pelt witches who get too close, “Miya would be mad if she saw the mess you’ve all made.”

“Why did you take so long!” says Kaede as she holds onto your head, pellet gun tracking the witches, who are seemingly getting tired.

“I was busy getting everyone else,” you say, even as Takao’s ship disappears and she climbs up into your arm.

“A real captain always worries about his ships first!” says the blue haired girl as you wade back towards the shore and Aurora, who has stopped swinging the log about and is instead helping witches.

“I wasn’t aware I had a ship…” you say, to which the blue haired girl “Humphs”.

As you make it to the shore, the last of the witches touch down, most of them nearly asleep on their feet as the ships behind you stop firing their lasers, the missile fire having died out on the way.

Aurora looks up at you from where she has gathered much of the team on her log, hefting it over her shoulder as the little ships steam in and disappear, the tiny girls collapsing in exhaustion as well.

“Why were you guys even fighting?” you ask to the general crowd.

“They said ships were obsolete and useless!” says Takao, sticking her tongue out at Aurora.

“We did not!” says Aurora even as she hefts her teammates over her shoulder, “We just said flying was better!”

“Is not!”

“Is too!”

“Is not!”

“Girls, girls,” you say, “None of that, everybody needs to go back to the dining room now.”

With the help of Aurora and Takao, you manage to carry the rest of the girls back to the dining room, though you had to set Karasuba down, the angry girl immediately deciding it would be a good idea to bite your ankle in revenge.

Just as you’re about to enter the dining room, Riela, Imca and Selvaria come in the lobby, looking like they all went for an early morning swim.

They stare at you and your little group of girls, then Imca speaks up.

“What happened?” she says.

“I don’t know,” you say, dead tired as you trudge back into the dining room, which is now filled with asleep little girls, “I don’t even know.”
