Previous Thread: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/37592462/
Our Current Stats: http://pastebin.com/iahm4JSj (Please have a look at them, but don't feel obligated to read it all in one sitting- use it as a guideline if you're drawing a blank or need some contextual information as I've essentially compiled every piece of information that's relevant to our civilization.)

Last session we invested our full medical and botanical knowledge into successfully resuscitating and healing Mycea and her grove, we managed to negotiate a seemingly mutually beneficial economic plan that ended slavery in the Gorgon empire, we even managed to negotiate more peaceful interactions between the Dinosaur and Spider tribes, but we also had our first taste of PLAINS life, but it seems all together a harsh and dry land rife with conflict.

Due to the current political environment a few new Developments have happened:

>+/-Political reaffirmation: The Gorgon Empire grows in strength
>The Gorgon empire has begun to dramatically grow in strength, size, and have dramatically expanded their territory. They've invested time and money into procuring and establishing a new permanent city under the massive "new growth" tree where once ancient Gorgon ruins lay and Gorgon Tribal squatters resided- this city has proven to be an incredible economic turning point for their empire as it acts as a massive trading hub for both your Cyclopes civilization and the various Gorgon Tribes. Like wise; The Royal brood of Empresses and High Priestess that have been birthed and hatched in recent years have consistently turned out Stronger, Larger, and more powerful- most likely due to the late Empresses breeding program.

(Second post incoming, please be patient.)

>+/- Economic Development: The Merfolk want Metal?
>They very briefly came onto land. They didn't talk, the dry air seemed to bother them greatly, and they didn't appear comfortable or experienced walking upright- often oping out to walk on all fours when not in the presence of others. They came with abnormal and disturbing pieces of Bone and Coral Art work, they came with fish and kelp, and they even came with Ocarinas- all these things they traded for Metal Tools and Metal Weapons.

>+/- Environmental Development: Local Extinction of the Boiling Lizard
>Despite it's impressive and intimidating size and it's name-sake ability to puff out it's throat and expel a torrent of hot boiling water- these magnificent qualities and abilities were not enough to save it from disappearing into the analogs of history. Once native to your home island- it dwelled upon the plains you graze livestock on and nested within the hot volcanic rocks you now quarry for housing and use for iron production. It may still exist within the Southern continent (where humid weather and geothermal activity is optimal), but within your own lands it only exists as a faint echo of a more primitive time.

You know how it goes from here!

Otherwise an idea,
Develop plains protection clothing, we need to figure out some lighter fabrics and more coverage if we are to venture further into the plains. wrapping up silk cloth around us to protect us from the sun, but also not to stifle us.

>Roll 87/100
>High End Success.

In between your infrequent trips to the plains over the mountains you've become a little more familiar with the wildlife there and the one that stands out the most to you is the Mammoth.
The Mammoth is without question the largest creature you have ever seen... -on land- It towers above even the tallest of your kind, every step it takes is silent, but lands with such weight it leaves an indentation in the ground, and it's sweeping tusks are so massive they might be as heavy as one of your own Elephants. It is a great, hairless, gray, sweating, mass of muscle and animal.

No one questions that one could ride it; the problem is it doesn't want you to ride it. The only thing the beast seems to tolerate is the presence of a constant cloud of numerous birds and small flying reptiles that flock around it and keep away the flies and parasites.

>Above Average Success +Gorgon Influence

You don't have much in the way of Furniture or personal effects- maybe some tools, some dishware, a couple of pots and personal sets of clothing and some shoes... But furniture? Furniture has yet to catch on; the most advanced form of furniture would have to be Tables, Shelves, or large cold stones shaped and brought in to sit on.

This is slowly starting to change though since your closest neighbor; The gorgon empire DOES in fact have furniture and you take examples from them making your own: Bamboo mats, Beds on bamboo frames with woven pillows and sheets all stuffed with soft feathery down... Interestingly enough you've also managed to develop Bamboo Tables, Chairs, and other replicas of previously stone furniture.

>+Furniture Developed
>Furniture seems like a no brainer, but it does actually require skill and patience to make and it doesn't help that your people are so LARGE and HEAVY. Small personal items and effects though are becoming common since they make life just a little more pleasant; but beyond mats, pillows, and blankets- "traditional" furniture doesn't remain that popular.

>Develop mining equipment.
>Roll 16/20
>High end Success. +Gorgon Influence +Geomancy -Racial aversion to HARD work

Mining is hard. Mining is in fact VERY hard: it requires laborious effort, sometimes you have to go underground, it's hot, it's dirty, it's tiring and awful work and frankly your people don't much care for it. Which is ironic due to their affinity for working with Metal.

At any rate: Currently Geomancy and Hydromancy have been the only acceptable methods to collect metals. large chunks of Iron deep beneath the earth can be called forth through the use of even rudimentary Hymns and Gold can be siphoned from rivers or blasted away from hillsides and sediments using water....Access to Silver and precious Gems though remain restricted to physical labor and within the Gorgon Empire.... Well, it did.

Your people have been paying careful attention to the industrial methods of the Gorgons; though they are at times cruel and a little unkind you cannot deny the end results: Women sent with pointed axes, Helmets, oil fed lanterns, dive into muddy holes and hill sides to extract all manner of metal and gems. Silver however remains very valuable as it must be seperated and processed using Alchemy and dangerous chemicals- a process that remains oblivious to your people.

>+Primitive Mining Equipment Developed
>Though you lack the sophistication; you DO have a gross proximity of the tools and knowledge necessary to mine for Iron and precious gems. TRUE mining however remains extremely unpopular, Silver extraction is beyond your people and for the most part most "mundane" metal extraction is gained through strip mining the faces of cliffs or the mainland mountain sides.

we've had... mixed realations with merfolk. I mean we've been pretty chill for the last couple of centuries. But our first encounter with them involved us dropping Peace-Monoliths to the ocean, and getting an angry letter back. We also incurred the wroth of the "Deep Eye" once, but again we've since ironed that out.

Recently they've been playing the role of this "Informed" race, they're aware of things we aren't, they gave us Akalade, and told us what to do with him, and its been working out.

There's something... uncomfortable about our peaceful relationship, especially since we don't know why they want metal.
>>
>>37756129

here's a thought. we manipulate the elements by dancing. that's pretty similar to Avatar. and their earthbenders can develop earthsense as a subset. I'm thinking, if we can do that ourselves and use it to detect the metal veins underground, we'd be pretty much rolling in bitches.

>The Merfolk deal
The Merfolk deal isn't really a "deal". They're mostly only doing it on a personal/discreet level in the sense that they've been awkwardly crawling onto land in an effort to acquire as much metal as possible while scurrying back into the ocean.

>>37755137
>Do we have any answer or contact from manticores. I kind of like those death fetishists, and i hope they aren't too steamed about us not giving them lenses... How did the lens thing go?

We eventually sort of agreed that no one should have access to the Lens: The lens will be eventually leaked out though since you can't keep it forever; but at the time all Gorgons remain placated since "well at least no one gets it."

The Manticore tribe is currently VERY interested in Mycea- they are perhaps a little TOO interested in Mycea.

>Domestication and Animal Husbandry Roll
>Roll 20/20
>Complete and Total Success

Currently your livestock include: Banana Rats, Peccaries, Elephants, Triceratops, Raptors, Chickens, and Silk Moths and it's been this way for a while now.. but with time, cultural interaction, and breeding efforts they've become noticeably more different than their wild varieties. Rats, Chickens, Peccaries are all significantly fatter, more pot-bellied, and docile as they've always been kept at home in pens and are a constant for any household. Raptors have become significantly more obedient and have developed into a very fine hunting animal- responding to commands and perfectly comfortable perched on a hand or shoulder. Triceratops have seen the most variety though: muscular and well built breeds for physical labor and fatter more.. "simple" breeds for meat and eggs. Elephants however simply live a little TOO long and age a little TOO slowly to be develop diverse breeds.. but Domesticated elephants are as a rule of thumb; friendlier, possess MUCH thicker tusks, and produce more milk and more offspring.

You've gone a little crazy with "fancy" Moths due to their popularity as pets: they display an absolute dazzling variety of colour, wing-shape, pattern, size, and have become uncharacteristically.. docile and responsive- they they even actively seek attention.

>+Improved Animal Husbandry Achieved
>Animal husbandry is no longer a mystery for your people: They know what sex does and they know how to single out and breed better or ideal physical qualities into animals. This has a number of potentially beneficial economic and food production benefits: increase egg, meat, milk, production as well as quality control.

Also, we could have separation of powers. Not necessarily into a president, congress, and supreme court; but certainly into something that suits cyclops culture.
>>
>>37757476
I am not saying changing the gov type, just improve its management ability so it does not have to all be arranged by the same person and tasks can be divided up and done more efficiently.

>>37757517
I think its not needed yet, since no one holds undisputed sway over the whole, and there are no political parties to speak of.
>>
>>37757517
We've suggested it before but we've suggested various councils before.

Like we currently have one big LUMP Magocracy. But what if it was split between Mages who do research, and scholars that know history and law? what if there was a council of tradesmen/craftsmen to help overview economic things.
>>
I say we keep our currency in such a way that it is actually usable in cyclopean life.

This way, an inflation does also decrease the costs of certain products that are related to gold and ivory
>>
>>37757517

we probably should make some sort of governmental bodies to represent the craftsmen, the farmers, the miners, etc.

>Develope magical tools to make mining (and other work) easier.
>Roll 20/20
>Complete and total success. +Akalade's influence, +Notes on Mycea, +Blind sage scrolls

They aren't often mentioned and they've always been on the side lines of history and documentation- mired by tragedy, accidents, and mysticism.. The Arcanists, The Enchanters, The few brave circles of Clyclopean men and women who work in discretion scanning over bamboo scrolls and taking quick peeks at second-hand copies of the scrolls of the Blind Sages.

Your people don't possess a distinction between Science and Magic; as they don't even recognize or understand Science the way Modern man would. Arcanists have begun to blur this line.

>+Technological Magical Development: Advanced Mediums: Bells, Tuning Fork,
>Your current mediums are woefully simple and primitive; they do not possess the sophistication necessary for complicated and sufficiently advanced hymns that are necessary to entail and extrapolate on the universe and reality. Bells; forged with Gold and Iron often with a wooden handle- The Bell is an extremely powerful and resounding medium capable of producing powerful and long-lasting Hymns. The bell's qualities can also be changed depending on what material it's made of, what inscriptions it possesses, and how large it is- bigger bell, bigger noise. The Bell though has the potential to be weaponized.
The tuning fork is an incredibly obscure and difficult tool to produce, but it's use and value cannot be denied. With a simple flick- it is capable of holding, purifying, aligning, and measuring the very tones that allow and carry forth the songs and hymns that make sung magic possible. It greatly increases the safety, accuracy, of singing powerful Hymns and facilitates Choruses.

Part 2 incoming.

I'm looking at that image but I just can't quite understand whats going on with the right ones hair. Are those supposed to be sideways bunny ears?

Ehh, we really don't have any dating methods yet. How would we tell dinosaur bones from ground-down mammoth nones, for instance?

>The Bell though has the potential to be weaponized.
Fuck. Yes.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iT8xt6XDs_U
>>
>>37757645
ground down is useless, the ivory is carved with patterns and images. Old dinosaur bones will have a different texture, weight, density and strength compared to it. You don't need to date the stuff to know ivory and bone apart.
>>
>>37757488
It will, but not really an issue until a lifetime has passed and they can be ground into various products if they suffer wear and tear and also covered with protective substances that make them airtight.
>>
>>37757624

I just want each class of citizen to be able to voice their requests and complaints on an official level. In my head, the farmers have a council that govern the rules for farming and a head farming chancellor that directly talks to the mages or a sub-bureau if the mages prove unable to handle that much work. same with all the other major professions.
>>
>>37757695

he said mammoth bones, not mammoth ivory.
>>
>>37757714
That's exactly what we should do.

Though, maybe we should also allow non-mage gorgon leaders to have their own deliberative body as well. A sort of lower legislature.
>>
>>37757714
Well, I think you basically just ask a mage and they'll pass it on and you dont need to worry about the bureaucracy
>>
>>37757738
And? the entire discussion was about how long ivory will last, and it will not last as long as fossilized bone. Powdered is not used as currency, they are carved rings or discs.

>>37757700
But at that point in time you can just say that all treated is not valid currency.
>>
>>37757744

I've actually been having that thought for the previous three threads. The gorgon population of our magocracy is pretty much as high as the cyclops population. it's pretty clear that we don't currently treat them as second-class citizens or anything, but it's still mean a lot to make that an official thing.

All you really need is just enough magical talent to qualify
>>
>>37757844
There are, but they probably aren't anywhere as good as cyclops mages.
>>
>>37757811
Separating gorgon and cyclops legislatures might lead to different cultural identities. As long as there's not a big divide between our people I wouldn't suggest it.
>>
>>37757912

Agreed. It's not as if our form of government has actually caused us any problems yet. Until it does I don't see why we should be trying to meddle with it.

OP, what are our people complaining about?

Are there any current problems, besides the recession?
>>
>>37757928

I'm not saying they shouldn't have any rights, but even IRL where here is only one species in the governments, we need to write laws that only concern a portion of the population (men and women).

>+Technological Magical Development: FIRST VEHICLE: Flying Pot
The Flying pot is a seemingly awkward and benign looking device that belays it's true sophistication. A tall clay inscribed pot that is large and deep enough to fit perhaps 1 or 2 cyclops; possess four very strong "pronged" legs that allow it to comfortable stand upon the ground, it's most explicit feature though seems to be the complex inner-working of iron and gold piping that act as both it's frame and to the trained eye- explain it's true function.

Using a slow and meticulously cooking, crafting, and molding process; the hollowed out Iron and Gold pipes are safely embedded within the walls of the pot, but even before that the pipes are enscribed and finished with a complex series of arching, ingrained, and convoluted inner-working and routing patterns. These pipes feed into the "cock-pit" of the pot.

Essentially: One sings into the pipes and the Pot flies. Particularly lazy or people unfamiliar with Hymns may alternatively attach a Bell to the pipe and ring it. As long as a tune is being carried and echoed through the pipes- the pot is capable of clumsy and sluggish flight.

The Flying pot is INCREDIBLY expensive to make, it is clumsy, it is slow- and it has obvious blatant problems/dangers attached to it's design- but that pales when compared to the amazement of getting to hover and scoot around. Even Akalade is impressed by this invention.

((If you need a real world example- it's a lot like a hot air balloon.))
>>
>>37757714
Too much specialization in an economy can lead to artificial barriers to entry in an industry, leading to artificial price increases. Flower shop license requirements come to mind.
>>

We have stories of great importance like that, but they're very much smaller scale or more peaceable. I think Journey To the Mainland was one, and how our people found the Gorgons would be part of it.

>Idea: research more of pre-elven contact gorgon cultures, help spread these to the empire and tribes.
>Roll 94
>Near complete Success +Tribal Gorgons, -Overshadowed by Gorgon Empire

The Elves cultural impact on the Gorgon's has had deep seated ramifications on their civilization and the various splintered factions that have developed. Even the Tribes that exist today have primarily defined their culture and differences through a mixture of Elven stipulations and contemporary Cyclopean and Gorgon influences.. The New Gorgon empire though has been picking up the slack and redefining themselves from the holes left behind.
You find your biggest and most interesting lead in some of the most Obscure places though.

>The Manticore Tribe: Druidic Necromancy
The Manticore tribe has developed an almost obsessive fascination with Mycea and after study and observation it's revealed that they pay honor and homage to her in part due to her obscured ancient origins. Gorgons may have originally adapted some form of fungal druidism that was originally introduced by some being akin to Mycea but was later weaponized and corrupted into contemporary Necromancy.

>Grown from the Bodies of Gods
The debate remains inconclusive, but there is evidence to support that the gorgons origin myth of the world being born and nurtured upon the accumulated death of countless gods; you've seen it before, the fossilized remains of truly and utterly titanic beings making up landmarks- The Snake bridge is a testament to that.

Either way your people look at it- Gorgon History seem to be defined by a recognition of Death and the Fall of great things.

>Odd High Rolls. +Overwhelming Census

You've only been making short trips into the plains to refurbish, repair, and re-stock the monolith in hopes that something interesting would happen a long the lines of established contact.. but results continue to be a mix of defacement, attempts at looting, but every so often there are pieces of gold ?coins? left behind and an interesting variety of fruits and produce.
The mining village on the other side of the mountain as well as the numerous farming villages that have sprouted up within Mycea's Grove though have facilitated more interest in exploration and travel into the plains and in time a few of your people have even come to appreciate it's foreign qualities and frequent in on a regular basis; wearing fine silk clothing to provide cool shade and cover from the unrelenting sun as well as numerous other small changes: leather shoes, drinking skins, and even some small poems or quips that bring forth refreshing cold water.

>+Unique Political Opportunity: The Changeling wish to know your motives.
The growing interest is mutual though and one day the inevitable happens, but it happens on beneficial terms: A small group of White beings upon the backs of their striped antler-less deer ?Quagga? ride up to meet some of your people tending to the Monolith. They do not speak, they hold still at a respectable and safe distance. Their entire bodies are hidden within white thin cloaks of fabric with only their deep black eyes and white faces peeking out.

Each one in turn raises a featureless limb that morphs and molds like clay to form an arm and hand- revealing their chalky white flesh.
Half of them are raising up unusual "Curved" blades made of some foreign metal.
Half of them are raising up what you immediately recognize as some form of Flatbread.

>Why have you come? For Blade or Bread?
>Pick one.

Zizz is basically a god-spirit beast of the air and sky. They literally control the element of air on this world and can force air elemental's to GTFO from miles away.

Their size blots out the sun, these things eat sea monsters. An ancient hunter decided to try hunt one, shot it with an arrow and knocked off a grand total of 3 feathers. It didn't even realize what had happened until the council tried to chant to the feathers, alerting the bird to what had happened. Shit hit the fan (go read it, its quite good). After what feels like hours of tension- your people nervously point over to the beings holding the Bread and there is a brief pause before their limbs visibly slide and slink back into their cloaks a long with their blades and before long they are all holding up bread. You see the lower portion of their cloaks "bump" the sides of their steeds and they slowly and cautiously advanced towards your Monolith to join your people to continue interaction.

There is a very brief attempt to open vocal communication; but it's made immediate that both sides has absolutely NO idea what the other is saying and there are no similarities what so ever between your two species languages. You are completely and utterly foreign to one another.

The universal language though is food and drink and without second guessing one another you unanimously decide to share a meal together and hopefully some amount of information and intent could be shared: distinct variants of Fruit, Bread, Meat, and Drink are brought out from both of your respective cultures. The Changelings find your finely marbled Dinosaur meat delicious, savory, and in generous quantities, they are pleased by the variety of appetizing and flavorful mushrooms and fine your Fruit alcohol to be very pleasing. Your people as well delight in the sheer variety of both Flat and leavened breads the Changelings have brought, they delight in the unusual sour slightly tangy tasting yellow edible wheel, as well the accompanying rich stew of vegetables and roots- the drink they bring isn't to your taste.. some kind of sour, astringent, red fluid? But you drink it to be polite.

You don't understand what they're saying, but they've also brought with them BOOKS; pictures and images printed on some kind of ?paper? They read aloud to you and show you the pictures: Cities, Beings, People, and Animals- of which you immediately recognize one being the Zizz.

>Ask about the Zizz.
You Draw attention to their depiction of what you've come to know as the "Zizz" and they are quick to acknowledge that you must have clearly seen it before. Within their book the Zizz's depiction takes up two entire pages: it is a large red bird, it visibly blocks out the sun, and is accompanied by what appears to be lightning. They go on to demonstrate through arm waving, drawing in the dirt, and making sound effects that the Zizz has frequented their part of the world and through it's sheer size and presence has brought forth terrifying and destructive thunder storms and terrible winds. They go on further to explain how it's presence has kept them from building or settling the flat plain- not for fear of the bird, but of the Storm it brings.

>Ask about the Ant people.
Their attitude becomes incredibly "dutiful" and they morph fingers to wave back and forth. They regal you about the constant conflict between their people and the Ant people- how the Ant people are the ones who hold control over the open plains and deserts with their large mounds and complex labyrinth-like underground dwellings. They give the impression the Ant people are a thoughtless, callous, unromantic and ABUNDANT people.

>Be Cordial.
After the questionnaire, you exchange gifts: You give them some left over unfertilized dinosaur eggs you had been saving and are amused by how their dark eyes seem to widen when you hand them the head sized eggs, you also gladly give them some of your dried dinosaur meat since they seemed to have a taste for the uniquely marbled fatty and savory flesh. They in turn give you the Book they had read to you and another edible yellow wheel.

The exchange is then adjourned. The changelings quietly pack their things, slide over to the sides of their riding beasts and.. ?slither? onto their backs. They grab their reins and turn around to wave back at your people before riding off.

You never once saw what they looked like underneath their cloaks

>Mycea has temporarily closed and sealed off access to her personal chambers only mentioning that she needs to "Host a small private party between some of my neighbors; do not worry it won't take long, so please don't worry." Her presence in the form of her "shoots" and extensions are ironically enough still assisting and interacting with people as if nothing is happening- but her "true" body is indeed locked away and access to her main structure is being denied.
>She even goes so far as to have her "shoots" very gently and carefully pick anyone up and carry anyone anyway who comes too close- all the while apologizing profusely before setting them down, hugging them and sliding back into her growth.
>In the proceeding nights their appears to be a dull glow coming from both the bottom and the top of her growth and despite no one having seen anyone coming or going from the structure- on particularly quiet nights different voices can be heard from within.

>Establish a Colony on the Coast just beyond the Mountains.
>Roll 74/100
>Just short of 75. Interesting results.

Farther north, beyond the mountains, just due east until the coast can finally be seen- there's a Jungle. The Jungle beyond the Mountains is quite similar to the jungles your people have called home since the dawn of time upon your indigenous islands: There's a variety of the short elephants you've become so familiar with- though they remain wild and untamed, there's a number of deer, birds, and even smaller dinosaurs such as Raptors- You eventually even spot a Manticore.

Yes, it all seems like business as usual and just another jungle.. until you reach the Water. The Waters are where it dwells. It is FAT. It is HAIRLESS. It's often seen yawning it's mouth wide open to display a set of TUSKS. At dawn and dusk you see them crawl up from the waters; carrying their pudgy bodies on chubby little back legs and massive, muscular, knuckle-walking clenched meat fists.

They're content to graze on foliage, fruit, grasses, and the mangrove trees on the coast- all of which they clasp and tear down like paper with their chubby primitive hands.. but they still intimidate your people.

The Elemental spirit of Air has always been the one most illusive to your people; The songs, poems, and hymns of the Air are some of your people's most obscurest..... But with the recent reminder of the Ancient and partially forgotten Zizz... Familiarizing yourself with the Song of Air could prove a sound long term decision.

Support into the plains does not remain within the "majority" so the construction of Air Megaliths is something only taken upon and set out by a handful of Cyclopes who most frequent the passage over the mountains and into the plains. The Megaliths are of simple Mountain stone rolled out into the plains and fit into dug pegs before they're smoothed and finished on the spot with discreet and humble inscriptions. They do not possess any metal, no iron, and no gold- they are short, only waist height to a cyclopes, and they are usually set up in lines adjacent to roads or paths.

This may sound morbid, but why don't we hunt the hippos instead? They're tough, provide a challenge, and we have yet to hunt something large and aggressive ever sense the Boiling Lizard went extinct in our part of the region.

>Shrines for Spirits, Elements, Gods and all manner of worship.

>DOUBLES met with overwhelming failure.
>+Interesting Results+

Your people have always had a rich and developed cultural attachment to building great stone structures to the various Gods, Elements, and all manner of nature spirits- it's come to the point where it's simply second nature for communities to drag out a giant rock to show respect for some presence or another.

You've always started to have something of a slight "monster" problem what with the occasionally Humbawumba eating everything, Grassmen being ignored until they're a problem, and the horror that the Tikibaling brings. In an Effort to solve this problem you've started erecting "smaller" more personalized megaliths- little tiny shrines that can be placed even inside homes and dwellings, so as to protect from malicious spirits.
This has caused unforeseen consequences:

>-Spiritual Development: New Monster: Food Elemental
>The Food Elemental is a spirit possessing a piece of "food" which can be anything from a piece of fruit, loaf of bread, or even an entire bowl of stew. The Food will sprout small legs and sometimes tiny arms and proceed to cause havoc and mischief until it is killed or eaten. Food elementals cannot possess preserved food or food that has not be "harvested". Exposure to Salt will kill them.

>Poverty Beast
>The Poverty beast is a monster that takes the form of an emaciated, sad-looking tapir with humanoid arms and a long monitor lizard tail. Wherever it goes it brings bad luck, misfortune, and economic turmoil: food rots and people lose money. The Poverty beast is attracted to affluent places. It can be defeated using generosity, but it can also be killed. If it is defeated with gifts; it will break apart and waft away into a vapor of soul. If it is killed though it reveals it's true origins; falling apart into a rotting mass of animals killed by neglect or abuse.

Despite Myceas explicit request for privacy... some things are inevitably heard within her private meetings and on the quietest nights where not even the wind blows and the darkness is accompanied by the dull glow of her growth hosting some strange other-worldly happenings.. some of your people manage to make out some the tail end of the discussion, but only broken up bits and pieces.

You can clearly make out the familiar Voice of Mycea:
>"What of the Children? I will not let any harm come to them."
>"They have Akalade though, we can't ignore it-"
>"I Don't not CARE about that great writhing beast- He is no longer relevant, his time is over and he will be consumed as is the natur-"

You also manage to recognize the voice of the Hydra Mother:
>"The Great Progenitor will not be pleased."
>"He could prove useful."
>"I agree, The children-"
>"But the Moon has been-"
>"I can't help you Mycea, use have to ask them."

>You can choose to confront Mycea after this post but it will lead into a "quest" development similar to when you opened the pod, I.E: Easing into this weeks session ending and turns will be taken at the span of Months/Weeks.

>Yes, Confront Mycea when she has finished her meeting.

You wait until the end of the Month; when the "meetings" have stopped, she's unsealed and opened up her personal quarters, and is once again accepting and hosting guests within her confines.
You bring with you a large and sizable entourage consisting of the Sage Council as well as a few prominent members of the more mundane but no less concerned Cyclopean/Gorgon Citizens as well as a small host of neighboring Tribal and Empire gorgons who had become concerned.

She graciously accepts and leads you all inside, letting off a soft, warm, laugh while quipping, "Look at all my visitors- I'm so popular today; I hadn't imagined you would all miss me so much.. I have some tea and some lovely shelf mushro-" She is cut off when you tell her you overheard. She hugs herself and becomes visibly distressed as her cheery attitude slowly dissolves and turns into one of dread.

She begins, "I do not expect you to completely understand, but you mustn't listen to the Followers of the great Progenitor. The.. "Merpeople" as you call them are being lead-astray by a being that does not have their best interests at heart- they have mistaken him for something benign and natural when he in reality he is a figment, a memory, of a very ancient time before plants, animals, worlds, elements or even Gods- He is one of many Morbid dreams from an entity that long predates creation and reality." She pauses for a moment to collect her composure and thoughts- she had slowly begun to hiccup, tears welling in her eyes and visibly becoming progressively more uncomfortable.

He is frightened because life, the natural world: You, Me, The Grass, The Insects, The World snake and even the Hydra Mother- we are all part of the Natural world. We are birthed from abominations, we are the rotting maggots within the body that is one great cosmic horror after another as we consume their flesh, gnash and crack their bones, rend their innards, and split their eldritch souls into countless minuscule fragments to spark an innumerable and endless amount of life to further extend creation."

There is a long pause as she extends herself and sends out shoots to accompany everyone; holding their hand, taking a breath, and continuing. "I love you." She slowly repeats each word once more, "I. Love. You. I love all of you and because I love you I will not let him have you. The Great progenitor thinks that he will be able to shepard the sympathies of the beings that are most reminiscent of his flesh: The Merpeople, The Cyclopes, he's even tried the Changelings at one point, but I hear the creature you've been calling the "Zizz" interfered."

Her tone becomes slightly more serious, she's gained all of her composure and it seems she means business at this point, "I need Akalade. The Hydra Mother once came to you before to ask for him, but the murder of her physical form at the hands of "Elves" has made her unconvincing and weak and she has not yet reincarnated... I need Akalade. He and his people are fools; they have sterilized their world, enslaved their gods, and killed their beasts, but he needs to play his role to my specifications and not to the Great Progenitors."

She kisses each attendant on the forehead and the cheek,
"I need Akalade. Please Trust me."

I trust her too, but there are quite a few things to consider.

First of all... Akalade, is he truly an agent of The Deep Eye/Great Progenitor? or merely a pawn. I wouldn't want to give him to Mycea or the other gods if it means there is the possibility he could come to harm... We need to talk to him and her about this.

But she is right, the Great Progenitor is something to be afraid of, and something dangerous. He is a beast of Guile, and a dangerous creature. He might even be the antithesis of Cyclopean life, despite our... well Origination from him.

He is an Individual, a sole eye, that dominates the wills of others. We believe in the virtues of many eyes, many wills, working together, we commune, we put many wills to one purpose, not use one will to rule over many.

He seems to be trying to manipulate us and the merfolk already. He's threatened us in the past, to concede with "peace".

She is once again pleased and enamored by the ever present compassion and selflessness your people continue to exhibit without a moment of hesitation, "This is why I love you. Your first question was one of concern and this is how I know I can trust you."

Her form slowly slinks back into the confines of her growth, you see mass, vegetation, and fungal flesh convulse and flex before she "slides" back out slightly damp and holding what appears to be a small, hair-covered, pod cradled in her arms. "I am aware of Akalade's mission and objective: he wishes to revitalize his world and bring back it's growth.. but his people are ignorant and they are selfish- his plain will ultimately fail because it does not matter if he heals their land- their character would lead to them repeating their mistakes. The Progenitor is riding on this. He cannot consume a living world."

She beckons a Cyclopes to take the pod from her and a handful eagerly stumble over one another to eagerly oblige, she begins to blush profusely when it is picked up, "T-this is one of my spores. It is what Akalade Desires; with it you could potentially revitalize entire continents with rich plant and fungal growth as seen in my grove."

She Instructs you further, "If you wish me to spare Akalade; you must convince him to give the Pod he used to ascend down from the moon to me. I will then infect it with my spores and launch it into the Ocean and at the Progenitor- It will infect him, poison him, rot him from the inside out, before consuming his flesh. I will then be able to assist Akalade with his World, but only after."

She is pleased with your compliance and willingness to help, "I have no love for the Elves. Their abrupt and brief visitation of this world was facilitated by necessity, but in their plight to 'save' their own world they enslaved me, re-purposed me, and used me as a machine.. a.. Computer as they would call it? They even went so far as to kill the Hydra mother and enslave her brood to domesticate them and breed for their own purposes; Which reminds me-" She beckons forth and into the crowd and almost on que one of the Gorgons who had joined the Audience rose before the people to stand beside Mycea.

She is an abnormally large Gorgon in every single manner: with fine Gold jewelry, even finer silken robes, possessing an over-endowed bosom, with equally disproportionately over sized snake hair. Her voice is deep and Sultry but familiar, "I have to thank you, my lovelies, my dear sweet children- I must admit I played you like fools.. but I've slowly become enamored by your generosity, kindness, and selflessness even in the face of my impatient, brooding, and violent daughters.." Mycea introduces her, "You might not have realized it, but you've been actively breeding back the Hydra mother- she's.. still.. a couple hundred years short of true reincarnation, and even if you were slightly conned- we appreciate everything you've done and you will be rewarded."

This revelation makes a number of your Cyclopes slightly nervous- The Hydra mother has always played something of a "Trickster/Fertility" diety within your pantheon and she isn't exactly someone you completely trust unless it involves copulation- which she can be trusted completely. She lets out a deep, satisfying, unnerving cackle from her stomach that breaks into a snort, "The best part is Mycea wants me to assist you in the retrieval of the pod, Ooooh won't that be fun?"

I think we should mention to Mycea about the Manticore's obsession with her and their power of fungal necromancy
>>
>>37766213
Yeah we probably should. Make sure its something she is either "okay" with or something she wants us to quash.

>Approach Akalade about this new proposal. Tell him the truth. Ask what he wants from it.
>Roll 47/100
>Akalade Rolls 1/20
>Merfolk rolls 15/100
>Cyclopes win, but only because everyone else failed more miserably.

With the news of Mycea's plan on the minds of the Sage Council they think it is only appropriate that they summon Akalade and update him on the news and what you'd ideally LIKE to happen and what maybe what CAN happen that would be ideal for all parties involved.

Unfortunately, Akalade is not exactly having a really great time. This may have seemingly gone unnoticed at the time and realistically in the long run it doesn't entirely matter in the grand scheme of things, but Akalade had only just recently outlived his "indigenous husband". Akalade is entirely expressing it outwardly, but his immortality is catching up to him as he realizes the implications of living amongst a species that grows and dies in the span of what his species considered "only a few years". Akalade is not.. exactly.. hysterical, but he is being difficult to deal with, unresponsive, and he is suffering internally.

Akalade is not a god. Akalade isn't a civilization. Akalade is a single elf with personal hopes, dreams, ambitions, and he doesn't believe in magic or gods or cosmic horrors. Akalade falls in love, Akalade gets bored, Akalade gets scared. Akalade is having a hard time right now.

Akalade doesn't resist you taking his Pod. Akalade doesn't even leave his Apartment. Akalade has spent weeks laying in bed, staring up at the wall in his temperature controlled room and thinking to himself over and over again, "I wasn't ready. I was the wrong person to send on this mission."

He also feels very stupid.

>You did not receive the confrontation you were expecting and many of your Sages if anything feel worse now because of it. They had all come to expect.. a little more out of Akalade and had forgotten that despite his age he is just a simple little Elf.

Poor little Akalade. What can we do for him?
>>
>>37766504
For all our shorter lives, and peaceful civilization, we ultimately think on this "Grand Scale". we forget the million individual tragedies that take place.

Akalade is an individual. and truly... that must hurt.

maybe we can have a communion with his husband's spirit? research ghost contacting or something.
>>
>>37766609
Closure perhaps?
Channel the spirit of his little native hubby? Contact the stars, make sure he's alright?

And I think with that all finally out of the way- We can call it a night on this session!

The thread is already archived, so please go vote: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html

The next session will as always be next Saturday; same general time, etc..

I am currently writing and illustrating a little Bestiary for us so we can keep track of all the various plants and animals of importance that we run into. It will be available as a pdf and I'll hopefully be able to post it next session.

I hope everyone had a really great time and that my writing was on par with the expected quality of story telling you've come to appreciate.

Thank you so much for the Art Edits: >>37756889

Soul crushing despair, maybe resentment towards us. Honestly a lot. But maybe we can channel the stars to see if he is okay.

I could use a cyclops hug after this thread :(

That's even more depressing! The only being that can match his age-length hates him because of his people.

Hopefully she'll learn from the compassion the cyclopeans have shown in all their dealings.

It could go wrong in a lot of interesting and depressing ways.

You need to consider that Akalade isn't superstitious; he doesn't believe in Magic and he most likely doesn't recognize or otherwise acknowledge the existance of an after life.

He might take overwhelming and potentially psychotic offensive to you presenting him with the ghostie vision of his late hubby.
>>
>>37767006
So a bad idea then.

I still propose getting him acquainted with Mycea.
>>
>>37767006

Forgot about his militant Fantasy Atheism/Anti-magic stance or whatever you'd like to call it. Yeah he might not appreciate us "channelling" his spirit. But maybe a ceremony or something. to provide closure. yeah we'll have a big "commend his spirit to the stars" thing going on, but still the thoughts that we care, and giving himself the chance to mourn and grieve might be an idea.

and where are you getting all these angry Eureka pictures OP seriously? this is hurting my feelings.
>>

Have you ever considered creating a ask page?

If the Dinosaur Tribe and the Spider Tribe are trading us livestock shouldn't we have Beetles and maybe some other tamed Dinosaurs, like the Sauropods or Therasaur, by this point?

A small private Funeral might be more in his taste- if I'm allowed to give good advice.
There's two things you need to consider in this situation with Akalade: Akalade is an individual person.. so he might not like a big fancy event or a lot of publicity, etc..
Akalade's species is by their own accepted standard, are functionally immortal. He might not exactly appreciate Death the same way we do.

>>37767112
>shouldn't we have Beetles and maybe some other tamed Dinosaurs, like the Sauropods or Therasaur, by this point?

You have access to Beetle products, but trading for beetles hasn't been brought up yet. The Dinosaur tribe doesn't "domesticate" Thersaurs- they tame them. Domesticated Therasaurs would be counter intuitive to their "election" process- they like them WILD and UNRULY. (Here, have a picture of a Therasaur I drew for our Bestiary. Male Therasaurs have Waddles. )

They do possess Sauropods though- it is within great political ease that you could successfully negotiate obtaining a breeding stop of Sauropods.
>>
So we have access to gems now, do they have any interesting magical properties?
>>
>>37767218
>He might not exactly appreciate Death the same way we do.
I getcha. death is sort of... Natural and cyclical for us. Death is a constant to everyone else but elves. For elves Death is an exception.

Yes, this is something they already do- it just hasn't been a relevant piece of information. The spider Tribe is fucking HUGE on giant beetle fights; they bet and handle that shit like we do cock fighting.

Except it's more safe/not a blood sport and our Cyclopean people would probably unironically really, REALLY enjoy it if it were to be introduced to our Culture.

I actually also drew a picture of our current most important/relevant indigenous giant insects for the planned bestiary:

Giant Hercules Beetle, Giant Cicada (They are even bigger and annoying), Giant Moths, Giant Dung beetle (Dinosaur poops, anon) and Giant Trapdoor Spider (They're even worse because they build burrows UNDERNEATH Mushroom trees and drop from them onto prey below- Harmless to adult humanoids, but terrifying.)

Yes

>Barns and/or Stables
Yes in the some sense. They have chicken/rat coops which they keep small animals in and these are in most if not all houses and they have much LARGER shaded enclosures where Elephants or Peccaries are kept. Triceratops have their own special one since they need room to lay eggs.

Your civilization? No.
That would require some knowledge of Alchemy or Chemistry and currently we're absolutely ABYSMAL at both.

I'm sure though you'd be able to receive assistance from neighboring civilizations to help pick up the slack.
