You are Shee Hyul, rebel leader, psychic and Reunited. Your world is ruled by inhuman creatures and this has gone on far too long, it’s time to fight back.

You decided to clear out the psychic research facility of the bugs, or serec, or whatever they’re called. Enlisting Dev, Rainya and Lirael to help you raided the plasma weapon armoury and headed to one of three groups of Serec, at the room of psychic activation chambers.

The room is crawling with bug-monsters, maybe forty in all. Most are the size of large dogs and walk on all six limbs, the front two of which are equipped with vicious-looking claws.

There’s about a half-dozen human-sized ones that walk upright on two limbs, and have a further four limbs, again with huge claws.

And at the back is a massive one, rivalling your warmech in size. It walks on two limbs and has two more limbs holding some sort of living gun, and a further two ending in claws.

As one, the mass of creatures turn to look at you, hissing, then they charge.

You came armed with plasma guns for just this possibility. However, if you unleash a firestorm in here, the activation chambers could be damaged, and you might lose the ability to gain further psychic powers.

You could trust to luck and simply blast them here, protected somewhat by the narrow doorway.
>>
You could retreat into the corridor where collateral damage will be less of an issue, but those monsters look like they can run pretty fast when they want to, not really an issue for you, and Lirael can fly, but Rainya and Dev might get overrun.

Or you could try a different tactic, like teleporting away.

What is the plan?

>Make your stand here, in the doorway
>Retreat to the corridor
>Teleport away (where?)
>Other (what?)

And how will you attack?
>Just shoot them
>Use power (what?)
>Other (what?)

At the end of the last thread the following XP purchases where proposed. As there didn’t seem to be many people at the end of that thread, I am putting this to a vote. Normally I’d leave it up for a few hours but as this will directly impact the fight, a decision is required sooner.

Shee Hyul, 14/15 XP
>Ranged Combat +2 (4) -4 XP
>Rapid Shot +4 (4) -8 XP
>Storm of Fire -2 XP

Rainya Halms, 35/35 XP

Ok, XP spent, updating pastebin.

Please roll 5d20

Rolls in order are
Shee teleport
Shee attacks
Lirael attacks
Dev attacks
Ranyas attacks

And vote on extra psychic energy (if any) used to teleport all of you.

Shee knows she can move all four of them via teleport with a little extra time and effort, but in combat she might fail, so a roll is required.

“Everyone grab hold of me!” you yell and you focus on the corridor behind you, specifically the end of it. The swarm of monsters rush towards you, and then fade from your sight.

[Psychic Energy 23/32]

The four you appear at the end of the corridor, far ahead of you is the open door to the psychic activation chamber room, as you watch the creatures rush out of it, and down the corridor towards you, the smaller ones come first, crushed together in the tight confines, climbing over one another at their eagerness to get at you. The medium-sized ones come after, easily scaling the walls and ceiling as they skitter towards you. Damn they most fast.

You and your allies open up, blazing away with all of your plasma guns. All of your tentacles are out, each holding a plasma pistol, and in your hands the heavy rifle starts to heat up as you fire shot after shot.

At your side Lirael and Dev place their shots carefully and take a toll on the creatures swarming towards you.

But what really stops the swarm is you and Rainya. The three Rainya’s and you unleash a hail of plasma bolts that turn charging monsters, into charred corpses. You both unleash such a salvo that the charging foes have no chance, though you also leave a lot of melted holes in the floor, walls and ceiling. Yeah you probably should have practised shooting with all of the guns at once a little more...

With all of you firing in a confined space the swarm of smaller creatures is obliterated, and half of the medium ones are killed as well, the other three of the medium-sized monsters flee back into the main room, of the largest there is no sign.

Then, suddenly, it’s over. It’s probably only been a few seconds, though it feels longer,

The corridor ahead is empty, except for you and your allies, and the stink of charred meat, and piles of smouldering corpses.

And speaking of empty...
>>
“Everyone reload” you say tersely. Your allies reload and you follow your own advice, removing depleted power packs and slapping fresh ones in place.

“Is that...it?” asks Dev, sounding somewhere between scared and disappointed.

Lirael shakes her head “It’s up ahead” she says, pointing to the door, screwing up her face she adds “I think it’s calling for help.”

“What’s the plan?” Ask the three Rainya’s, looking a little shaky.

“We need to get rid of it” you say “but fighting it in there could cause a lot of damage.”

“We wait here” suggests Dev “Let it throw away its forces at us, then it’ll come out.”

Rainya shakes her heads “We need to go in after it” she says.

“What not lure it out?” asks Lirael

“Stay here” you say to everyone “And be ready, when I come running out of that door, be ready to fire.” You add as an afterthought “And try not hit me.”

You start forward in a series of small teleports, shifting from spot to spot to avoid being hit and head towards the door, peering through it you can’t see any sign of any of the monsters, how can the big one even hide in here? Did they teleport away? Or are they waiting in ambush?

You sneak forward and as you dip in and out of real space you try diving through the wall, instead of using the obvious (and likely watched) entrance.

You appear in the activation room and sure enough, you spy the three medium monsters hiding around the door, one on either side, one clinging to the wall above it, they are around four metres away from you. Their heads swing around as you raise your guns and then they sprint towards you, how the hell do they move so fas-

You abandon your attempts to shoot and just focus on dodging their attacks using your teleportation ability to its fullest as you blink in and out, ducking and weaving, never staying in one place for longer than a small fraction of a second.

Your efforts pay off and most of their attacks, though incredibly fast, don’t touch you. One does however, gashing your arm open and blood runs freely down you arm. The claws slice you up despite your many protections, damn that hurts.

[HP 73/78]

Fighting three of these things in melee sounds like a tough time, but they move so fast even if you teleported across the room you’d only get a few shots off before they were on you, plus a protracted gun battle in here could damage things, and no sign of the big one yet.

What do you do?

You don’t want to damage anything in the activation chamber. With a sigh you dismiss your plasma guns into your other dimensional space and draw forth other weapons. A sword appears in your hands, and four knives in the grip of your tentacles. You touch activation studs and toothed blades start to whirr.

All this occurs as you continue to make small jumps to keep ahead of the lashing claws of your foes. Once you are ready you switch tactics and teleport next to one of them, as it spins to face you, you lash out with your blades.

This things hide is tough and a couple of your attacks only score light gashes upon its exoskeleton. The rest of your attacks cut deep however and it stumbles back, bleeding heavily and giving an inhuman scream. You teleport away as the other two leap at you.

Again and again you dance around these creatures, your speed now a match for theirs and your blades able to cut deep into their armour. Still, they are determined, fearless and move in perfect harmony. You focus entirely on the fight with them, blotting out everything else until they’re all down, bleeding and unmoving.

You lose track of time, but by the time its over, they’re all dead. Breathing heavily you inspect yourself, both visually, and with your powers. Seems they got a couple of glancing blows on you, and even a glancing blow from one of these things means you’re bleeding.

[HP 62/78]

Then you realise what you’ve been blotting out.

-Shee! Shee!- you hear Liraels voice in your mind –What’s happening, are you ok? Do you need help?-

You smile and prepare to answer in the negative, when in front of you, only a few metres away, the big monster appears out of nowhere, its bio-gun-thing aimed at you, and its claws raised.

-Could do with a little help here- you think.

-We’re coming!- promises Lirael.

You rush towards the thing, still moving impossibly fast, as you dance around it, looking for an opening in its bony plates you focus on closing your wounds and repairing the damage you’ve taken.

[HP 78/78, regen 3/round]

You jump forward and stab at the thing with your whirring-toothed blades, aiming for what seems like weak spots, but you are rewarded with only shallow wounds. The monsters swings massive claws at you but you duck under one and teleport away from another, before diving back in to attack it again.

Then you hear a voice “Get clear!” yells Dev, your allies all point plasma weapons at the thing. You have little time to object, you simply whisk yourself a safe distance away with your powers as multiple plasma bolts slam into the beast. Fortunately none of the attacks go wild.

However...

As you watch, the burning bolts of energy simply dissipate harmlessly against the beasts hide, and it levels its own bio-gun at your friends, all clustered in the doorway. Its easily shrugged off the attacks you’ve made, you are little more than an annoyance to it at this point.

What do you do?

>Shoot it

>>37745367
I'd assume that it's just as resistant to slug weapons, if not more resistant, due to high DR and it's carapace.

No real evidence for the carapace being resistant to energy weapons given that we slaughtered a horde of with a plasmastorm. Higher base damage probably overpowers any resistance there is.

Explosions might also risk damaging things in the activation chamber.

That's still not a reason for using the needler, which is already established to be shit against armored targets e.g. every serec ever.

The fact that the energy bolts "dissipated" against the hide, and our regular melee attack did at least some damage, it heavily implies it has greater resistance to energy damage. Since our physical attack doesn't do more damage then the plasma pistols.

It was mostly because I wanted to try out if it does react better to the slug weapons, but I concede your point on the explosive ammo, I mainly used it because we didn't have the armor-penetrating one.

“Take cover!” you yell to your team, adding “Lirael, watch out for more monsters!”

-Right!- Lirael says in your head.

As the beast takes aim with its gun at the doorway, Dev, Lirael and Rainya dive for cover, as you take a flying leap onto its back. The beast rears back and bellows as you hold on with your hands, and your tentacles try to stab humming blades into any weak spot you can find.

As the beast thrashes its shot goes high, and a nasty-looking glob of good hits above the door, the metal where it impacts begins to smoulder and dissolve as droplets of the corrosive stuff spatter the floor, making coming through the door a hazard.

The monster lurches and thrashes, trying to throw you off and reaches up with its claws to grab you. The two of you quickly realise you are in a stalemate, you can’t hit this thing hard enough to hurt it, and it can’t even touch you.

It pauses momentarily, as if considering its options.

Then adrenaline hits and it all comes rushing back, you blink away as a mass off goo hits the floor where you were lying and a section of the floor smokes and dips, melting.

“Shee!” screams Lirael, flying at the monster.

“No Lirael” you yell “I’m ok-”

Lirael doesn’t seem to hear you and barrels straight into the monster, but its not Lirael you see there, it’s the other Lirael.

As you watch a child angel with a flaming sword starts hacking away at the beast, cursing it in an unknown tongue, as it turns to face this new threat.

The beast is tottering, its clear you hurt it by draining away its life, but it can still fight, and Liraels burning blade its having much effect on it, it swipes at her with its claws but she swoops away.

You can see Rainya and Dev, hanging back behind a dripping curtain of metal and corrosive goo.

What do you do?

Guys if we want to kill more bugs I advise getting Dev into the mech. it'd help him against the heavies and quite frankly against hordes he's kinda useless.
>>
>>37745724
Why a spear? A sword does more damage.
>>
>>37745775
Longer reach so that lightning field can't hit us.
>>

We already had problems with the entry and corridors being too tight anon.
He would have had trouble getting into this room to begin with.
>>
>>37745769
>and quite frankly against hordes he's kinda useless
Everyone is usless against Hordes because Shee and Rainya will absolutely slaughter any mooks.
He isn't here for the hordes. And we can't carry him around in the mech because then he might get into the way, using the mech requires careful positioning.
>>
>>37745781
It'd still be hitting our tentacles.
>>
>>37745803
Why should we hit him with our tentacles then?
>>
>>37745781
What makes you think the reach of the spear is enough?
>>
>>37745822
Nothing, but its definitly better than a sword.
>>
>>37745814
Because they're what we're using to cause the most damage. Just using the spear wouldn't do a lot to it.
>>
>>37745803
Switch tentacles to pistols then. Getting close enough to get lightning fielded can kill us.

>>37745822
I don't but longer reach means if we see it powering up again we might be able to avoid the arcs.
>>
>>37745829
Are you not paying any attention at all?
Our melee attacks do absolutely no relevant damage at all, thats why we switched to life drain.
>>
>>37745844
Then why move to stab it at all?
>>
>>37745829
This thing has DR out the ass anon, the knives are pin pricks at best.
>>
>>37745852
Do you see any mention of stabbing it in the vote that asked for spear? No? There is your answer.
No one wants to stab it at all.
>>
>>37745741
No, it was 58, you only absorb half the damage inflicted as temporary HP.

>>37745828
Or it's just as bad as far as avoiding the Lightning Field and does less damage. Life Drain has a better reach at 16 meters.

>>37745844
Then why are we using the spear which barely does any more damage and gets fewer attacks?

>>37745853
The knives do 2d4*4 with tentacles. The spear does 2d6. It's barely any better in damage and gets fewer attacks.
>>
>>37745852
Spear's more for deterring it from meleeing us. Charging a spear wielder will hurt like a bitch.
>>
>>37745859
>Then why are we using the spear which barely does any more damage and gets fewer attacks?
But we aren't using the spear.
Its for melee defence if anything. Of course we use range for Life Drain.
No one voted for getting closer to use Life Drain.
>>
>>37745859
Dr of 8 negates the knives entirely a spear can break that. It's mostly a melee deterrent and to have it ready in case someone puts a chink in it's armor.
>>
>>37745862
Why would it try to melee us right now? Liraels chopping at it with a flaming sword. We'd be better off using a gun.
>>
>>37745897
>We'd be better off using a gun
Guns don't do shit either as we have seen.
We are better off to just keep at distance and drain it away. Which does more damage then anything else we got.

“Keep it up!” you yell to Lirael. With your encouragement she redoubles her efforts, doing little damage but keeping it distracted long enough for you to once again drain its life into you.

[HP 78/78, PE 13/32]

With a sound between a roar and a cough, the thing falls crashing down. You poke it with a tentacle to make sure its dead and then a super-strong little angel-girl barrels into you and knocks you to the ground, hugging you hard and inspecting you for injuries.

“Shee, you’re hurt!” cries a crystal clear, musical voice as Lirael sees all the blood stains on your clothes.

“I’m fine!” you protest

“No you’re not!” says Lirael “If you’re going to keep doing stupid stuff I’m going to make you a dhampir” she threatens sulkily “Then you’ll be tougher.”

Eventually the dripping mess over the door slows enough for Rainya and Dev to join the two of you. You rise, Lirael still clinging to you like a limpet. You can spot only a single Rainya, carrying three rifles.

“What was that?” asks Dev

“Some sort of Serec leader I think” you hazard a guess “It seemed pretty resistance to plasma blasts and Liraels sword.” Which you notice is sheathed at Liraels side, the hilt digging into your leg

Both Rainya and Dev take Liraels transformation in stride, neither commenting, though Dev is giving her a wary look.

“So what now?” asks Rainya “Do we push on to the other groups? Or head for the warmech?”

“Lets get the mech” suggests Dev.

“No!” protests Lirael “Shee needs to rest.” And Lirael will need feeding you think, this power takes a lot out of her.

With your foe defeated, the power of Jagganatha grows within you, offering you 1 of 3 gifts.

[Jagganatha Favour +1]

Might of Jagganatha
Strength and Constitution boost, some damage reduction, boosts unarmed damage.

Artifice
Grants a bonus to Mechanics checks, at higher levels machines become valid targets of telepathy powers (i.e, can read a machines mind, control it a range etc) and at higher levels turn into a ghost that can possess machines.

Rampage
You gain the ability to transform into a much larger, stronger and tougher form, though it also has anger issues.

10 minutes to discuss, then a vote will be called.

vote on general actions is ongoing of course.

The power of Jagganatha shapes itself according to your needs, and settles within you.

[Artifice
At Artifice 1 you gain a +2 to all Mechanics and Computer rolls per rank you have in Artifice.]

“We’ll come back another day” you say to your allies “This thing was tougher than expected, I want to be ready if we encounter any more.”

Lirael nods approvingly, Dev sighs, but doesn’t argue. Rainya just looks grateful, and ready to relax.

“C’mon” you say, ready to teleport them back to Dust Town “Let’s go home to rest.”
---
Back at dust town, Dev gives you his plasma rifle “Can’t let my parents see this” he says, handing it to you “Or these” he gives you a half-dozen grenades that you store for him. Rainya likewise gives you all of her weapons, Lirael reluctantly parts with hers, frowning.

Dev heads off in the direction of his parents “Call me when we’re going back” he says “seriously, call me.”

“Will do” you say, waving to him.

It’s early evening, you could just get some rest, after all you’ve had a long day, and you’ll probably have a longer one tomorrow, or you could do something else.

You turn to see Rainya still standing there.

“You ok?” you ask

“Um...” she says, twisting her fingers together “Can I stay with you and Lirael tonight, I just...those things were scary...”

Can Rainya stay with you tonight?

2. Make contacts to sell the guns.
3. Teach Dev enough about mechanics to upgrade and quickly repair his mech.
4. Activate psychic power (not recommended at this point)
5. Check out the reunited leads (chaos mage, elite cop, the brawler, etc.)

>>
>>37746203
>Open crystal thing in your head (this is now an option)

They were only riled up recently.

They might detect the psychic emanations from the activation process and decide to investigate.

There's a reason that activating a power has a warning about it being a bad idea after it.
>>
>>37746298
True, but Dad had a lot of favors and Charun as his back up and still Death ripper who is only a planetary level fae wrecked both their shit. We have at least one fae on planet stronger than him.

>>37746302
Pally even said it was a bad idea anon. And killing a few of them has likely gotten them pissed. Who says they stay in one spot all the time anyways? It takes hours for the powers to activate and we are helpless during that time. Rianya and Lirael even with Dev in the mech would likely get overrun.

Right now, because the big guy had most likely called the others in. Thats why I said, if they aren't there if we get there tomorrow, they aren't likely to come.
Right now, they are likely to be on the way there, which is why its currently a bad idea.

>>37746327
>They were only riled up recently.
No, they happened to get into psychic contact with us recently which lured them into the level we are inhabiting right now. The nest we just exterminated.
>>
>>37746345
I don't think anyone could tell us more about it right now. Unless we seek a Favor.
But we should be completly rested and ina controlled enviroment when doing it. Not in a shack in Dust Town.

How? Only the gods know, and none of them will give us a straight answer. They'd spin it towards their end hard.

>>
>>37746375
You are assuming shit too, fact is, they have been here the entire time. And have been wandering around the entire time. And we have more than once spend entire nights in the facility, and used our powers without attracting them.
>>
“Of course you can”, you say to Rainya, linking your arm with yours as you head to your shack. Partway there Liraels angelic form fades, and she collapses, exhausted. You end up carrying her the rest of the way on your back.

At your shack you try to convince a sleepy Lirael that she needs to feed from you, but she says “No, inna morning Shee, I’m tired and you’re hurt...” no matter how you persist, Lirael seems determined to go to sleep hungry. Rainya excuses herself from the shack during the conversation.

Once you have accepted that Lirael doesn’t want to feed, you put her to bed. You stay up with Rainya and talk about the monsters you saw, late into the night.

As you chat you try to ignore how much you want Lirael to feed from you, it’s been over a day since she last fed from you, and you really, really want a bite.

You and Rainya don’t stay up very late either, it’s not long before all three of you are asleep on your bed, blankets shared between you.
---
You’re standing in dust town, but your feet are wet, all around you is ocean, not sand.

“Well this is new” says Kae “What’s all this about? An ocean, here?”

“Yeah it’s a new thing I got” you say, turning you see Kae standing atop a duster shack, eying the water that’s up to your knees dubiously.

“So what’s the word?” she asks “do I need to call in more police”.

“No” you say “the attack isn’t going ahead.”

“Ah good” she say, watching the fish swim past your legs “So how’ve you been?”

“Oh y’know” you say casually “Things happened.”

“Oh yes?” she asks, focusing her attention on you “like what?”

What do you talk to Kae about?

It was relatively weak and led by a singular larger Serec to keep us from detecting them. A nest would have far more Serecs and things associated with nests rather than just being a bunch of soldiers.

They also contacted us when we activated Telepathy.

They know that we use the facility and know we visit the activation chamber, that's why they were there. We were told, directly, that they aren't going to quit easily.

>And if they could sense the activation of the chamber, then they would have sought us out already weeks ago.
They did, when we activated Telepathy. I don't know why they didn't earlier, perhaps they were hibernating, or maybe they just couldn't see our mind until we had telepathic capabilities. And Lirael's wouldn't be detected since those are vampiric rather than serec/psychic in origin.

Because the origin species of all psychics is incapable of doing things we, as a psychic, can. Right.

I don't even.

If you think that is when they detected our location, rather than our presence, which I thought you meant with getting pinged. Then they would have had a warparty in the activation chamber already a long time ago.
Why didn't they, if they can freely sense our location and the activation of the chamber?
>>
>>37746628
They can definitly sense eachother of long distance, doesn't mean they can sense us.
As a matter off act, that it took so long for them to find us in person, pretty much proofs they can't.
We've been fucking aroundin the facility for a while after activating Telepathy.
>>
>>37746600
Lack of drones at the moment? wasn't set up for it right then? Wanted to take our measure so they could get the appropriate troops scrounged up? Didn't think it was necessary? Wanted to see if it could awaken Dev or Rainya and turn them before trying to take Lirael and Shee again?

Honestly this seemed like a throwaway party for them. next one is going to be worse or I'll eat my hat.

>>37746637
They were either sleeping and just recently woke up, or just got here, or maybe had more pressing matters first.

>>

We didn't run into them til after that. They might have been asleep/hibernating or just got here via some unknown means.

So, what I take from your post is. You are just assuming a lot of things that has no actual indication from what we have seen them do.
Your entire post is full of "maybes" and "it could be".
Fact is, we spend full days in the facility after activating Telepathy and they didn't actively go after us until our encounter in meatspace.
Fact is, they didn't react ot any of our activations of the chamber sofar.
Fact is, they haven't shown teleportation in our last fight despite we having been told they will want to overwhelm us.

“Well I recently gained ownership of a restaurant” you tell Kae proudly “The Waystation, level 15.”

Kae looks at you strangely “What?”

“The Gifts I told you about” you say “I was able to trade one away in return for a business, like a bar, or club, or a restaurant.”

“Why a Restaurant?” asks Kae “Why not a nightclub?”

“I miss real food” you say wistfully “I’ve been living on mystery stew too long, I really want a steak or something.”

Kae snorts “Yeah ok” she says “That’ll wear off in time.”

“Maybe” you concede “I also found out more about Quinn.”

“Oh?” asks Kae, suddenly more interested.

Yu relay what Ash told you, though you don’t mention that he and Quinn, ah...not your secret that one, but you tell Kae all the other stuff about the plan, and about the important vampire visiting.

“I still say this is a local plan” says Kae “My father would never be party to something like this.” She sound certain, but maybe her love for her father blinds her.

“As for the vampire” she sounds thoughtful “The vampires are allowed visitors from offworld” she says “just not representatives of any of the intergalactic governments, plus a few of the really crazy vampire lords are blacklisted.”

“So this vamp is representative of a galactic body?” you ask. You don’t think much of them if they’ll take part in such a plot.

“No” says Kae, frowning “It doesn’t fit, the only one so powerful that someone like Elder Crimsonthorne has to bow and scrape would be a reprehensive of the Vampire Council – and they’re allowed to visit, they just need to announce themselves” then her eyes go wide “but the Council members themselves are banned!”

Kae looks down from the top of the shack “Shee you don’t think one of the head of the vampire clans is coming, do you?”

“I don’t know” you say, spreading your hands “I just heard it was an important vampire, supposedly Quinn knows, but can’t tell.”
>>

Fact is, we were told they'd keep sending groups after us.
Fact is, activating a power leaves us vulnerable for a long stretch of time.
Fact is, we do not need Metapsionics badly enough to risk being at their mercy.
>>
“We need to know!” says Kae, jumping down and splashing through the water to you, ignoring the fish that swarm around her legs she grabs your arms “If a council member steps foot on a Reclaimed world, that’s an act of war.”

“What?” you ask.

“Oh” says Kae vaguely “The Reclaimed worlds, the worlds belonging to the fae, a bunch of boring treaties” she waves her hand dismissively “Not important, what is important is that certain fae, and vampires, were deemed so powerful that there movements were restricted by treaty. If a council member was to come here, that would be big, really big. We need to find out!”

“But how?” you say “It’s in Quinns head and he can’t spit it out it seems. He’s scared of his family though, could you offer him protection from them?”

Kae looks uncomfortable “No” she says regretfully “For political reasons, fae can’t harbour vampires wanted by family heads, and vampires can’t shelter wanted fae, not officially.”

“You could shelter him unofficially then?” you ask.

“I could” says Kae “But my father would get involved and I would definitely get ordered home.”

“So it stays locked in Quinns head” you say glumly

“Huh, maybe” says Kae, pondering “I could, I suppose, but no, he’d need a reason to talk, even in dreams.”

“What do you mean?” you ask her.

Kae shrugs and says “I could go into his dreams and get him to reveal it, maybe, but he’d need to believe it was a dream, and would need a reason to talk, need to think he chose to talk, if I push him he’ll know I was there, and he’ll go to his Elder, and it will all be off.”

“Maybe that’s a good thing” you say “expose him, and the trip is cancelled.”

“If I do though” says Kae “It’ll tips my hand, and my father may recall me, I’m supposed to discover things here, not rock the boat too much, Shee how can we get Quinn to talk?”

Fact is, we spend full days in the facility after activating Telepathy and they didn't actively go after us until our encounter in meatspace.
Did you miss them trying to mind hack us during telepathy? Also WE activated telepathy after we found the guns and cpus. We went immediately to finding another vault and they found us there. They can sense us but not pinpoint us.

Fact is, they haven't shown teleportation in our last fight despite we having been told they will want to overwhelm us.
Fact si there are a lot of psionic types and while they might not have a teleporters yet they might very well get one.

“Thank you” you say “But I don’t know how I’m going to do this.”

Kae looks conflicted “There is a way” she says “But it’s risky, and more of a last minute emergency thing”.

“Oh?” you ask cautiously “Go on.”

“Geheganesh will be watching” says Kae moodily “If you took a pinch of sand from the deepest desert and touched it to the skin of a vampire, he could identify him immediately, and would warn the fae lords.”

“But I’d have to get close to the vampire” you point out “Hardly an easy task.”

>>
>>37747085
You really think she's going to let it lie? Serec are kind of big threat in group and sice they are a hive. big groups seems common. Even if their psy creation doesn't affect fae, having a bunch of humans all of a sudden getting powers would be a problem, especially if they mutate.

Still pally already started writing. Hope Kae doesn't want to see our base or press to hard.
>>
>>37747125
>You really think she's going to let it lie?
If she doesn't then its all the more reason for her to tell us things about them so we can exterminate them.
>>
>>37747066
It's a pretty safe assumption that they'll at least be looking for us, and I don't want to take the chance that they'll decide to check the activation chamber which has non-Serec minds in it for some reason and investigate in the three hours we're defenseless.

The benefit of Metapsionics does not outweigh the potential danger of the Serec finding us or the negative repercussions should they do so.
>>
>>37747156
If she thinks it's a big enough threat she won't just tell us she'll demand to see where to confirm and call in some friends to kill them off. To her we're still a squishy human. A tougher and more interesting one that average, sure, but still only human. She won't stop at just telling us, and refusing her might very well get her into another snit with us, or worse.

Given our less than stellar personal interaction track record I am a little bit worried.

“I’ll need some info for the police” you say “To keep this going, make it look good y’know?”

Kae gives you an amused look “Of course” she says, thinking “Hmm, how about this: members of the Governors advisory committee have been recommending contracts to the Governor for the factory projects, lots of money so its big bids. The thing is, my agents have found proof that some of the Governors advisors have been taking bribes to recommend specific contracts....” she lists names and details “nothing on the Governor of course, but still, it would be embarrassing for him if this came out.”

You feel a little disappointed “Just bribery?” you ask “Nothing else?”

Kae giggles “The fun stuff is still being dug up” she says “besides, bribery at that level is illegal, but it’s just y’know, fines and stuff. The Governors advisors are all wealthy, they can afford it, but politically it’d be big, very big. The threat of revealing it will be more effective than actually doing so. The police will be able to use it as a tool for” she waves a hand vaguely “Stuff.”

Seeing your unconvinced look she says “trust me, any investigator will love that stuff.”

Well, ok...you memorise dates and people and amounts. As Kae is ready to go you say “One last thing, I encountered some Serec recently, what can you tell me about them?”

Kae gives you a probing look “What do you want to know?”

“Oh just why they might be around” you say, as casually as you can “Seemed weird is all.”
>>
“Oh ok” says Kae “The Serec” she says, sounding like she’s reciting from a lecture “attacked this world during the Reclamation” you think she means during the invasion “small bands at first” continues Kae “but then larger and larger, but no bioships where ever spotted in orbit, which means the swarm used its more valuable creatures, those capable of teleportation, to bring them here, why was a bit of a mystery. Although this world fought against the Reclamation, neither side was weakened enough that the Serec forces could take the world, and we’re very far from their usual territory. They also only appeared in a few areas across the world – near Hive 39 was one” she admits “I can’t recall the others. After the surrender, our forces spent time hunting down the remaining bands, but I suppose a dormant nest might’ve been missed.”

“Yeah that must be it” you say “dormant nest”.

“Because” says Kae, looking at you intently “If the serec were launching a new attack, that would be bad, really bad for everyone, and it would be best if we were prepared. Where did you see the Serec Shee? I think I need to have a patrol check it out.”

After we slaughtered the mooks in seconds it can't have been underestimating us.

Well, the nest is probably on the lower levels, right? IIRC, the lower levels all had teleportation shielding of some sort, so maybe that's why they aren't teleporting any of their guys in.

They don't want to walk their rare teleporters all the way to the surface just to teleport the war parties to Shee since she'd be relatively close once they'd reached the upper levels anyway. Also, risking a rare unit in combat against a foe with unknown capabilities.

“I will” you say “I will.”

“No offense, I'm just curious since it’s not something I get the chance to ask otherwise, why do you call it the *Reclamation*?” you ask Kae “I mean, where does that choice of phrase come from?”

Kae gives you a conspiratorial smile “Well don’t tell anyone this” she says “Officially the Reclamation is about worlds that belong to us, to the fae before, passing back into our hands, but this world hasn’t been Reclaimed yet, we’ve been at it for a while but the first effects have only just begun in the last few years.”

“I don’t understand” you say “The fae have ruled this world for hundreds of years”

“True” acknowledges Kae “and it was successfully decoupled from galactic time a century ago.”

Wait what?

“But for it to be truly Reclaimed” says Kae “Is for it to enter Oneira, you see” she explains “most of the rules of the physical world still apply here, once we’ve fully Reclaimed it, what the fae lords decide, will be the whole of reality.”

Kae takes your stunned silence for approval

“Won’t it be lovely” she says “When order is gone from this world, and only the pure freedom of dreams exists?”

You really can’t think of a response to that, so surprised are you.
>>
---
You wake up the next morning wondering what Kae meant, this world, is entering another reality? One where the fae hold absolute rule not just over society, but over everything?

Your train of thought is disrupted by Lirael hugging you close and burying her head in your shoulder “Shee” she says, her voice muffled “I’m hungry.”

You open your mouth to reply, only for Lirael to scrape her fangs across the surface of your skin, sending an electric thrill though your body. You know you want this, you really want this, the cravings have been getting stronger, but right next to you on your other side still asleep is Rainya, who has seemed a little weirded out by the whole feeder thing.

Your body aches to say yes, but your mind tries to form the words to tell Lirael that it can wait until you’re alone.

Lirael is good enough that she won’t feed without your permission, but do you want her to bite you now, whilst Rainya is right there?

Roll Willpower 1d20+8, DC 22

Combining vote and roll, if roll is successful, Shee can decide, if not, then she lets Lirael bite her now.

Please roll even if voting *Y*, first 3 rolls will be used.

I'm sure Rainya wouldn't be terribly bothered by waking up to Shee having orgasms next to her, but it would still be a bit rude.
We can at least wait until she asks if she can watch.
>>
>>37748021
Actually. I really don't think it would. I think she's morbidly curious.

If anything she may want to become a feeder. Think about it this way, Shee is becoming or has become the most important figure in her life.

She's creating a bond with Lirael and Shee. She may even want to participate to become closer to the both of them.

This could be your argument for or against.
>>
>>37748024
Honestly we need to Get shee to deity status just to stop this.
>>
>>37748021
Actually, I think she wants to watch.

Remember when she peeked on the last bite?
>>
>>37748021
>It would creep her out.
Actually it wouldn't. She is pretty curious about the whole thing, she hasn't been creeped out in a long time.
Hell, we once caught her watching us.
But there is a difference between her watching because she wants to, and her not getting a choice.
>>
>>37748046
I was really hoping we could avoid that but, I guess it's the only way.
>>
>>37748060
Considering that'd be the only way we could begin to stand up to the higher tier fae, yeah. Deathripper alone is likely worth all of the resistance put together.
>>
>>37748080
There is no fae by that name.
>>
>>37748089
Kae's dad.
>>
>>37748080
I'm sure we could with enough gifts too.
Its just easier this way.

>>37748089
Well, Dan is dead now, so we need a new one for that joke.
>>
>>37748107
His name is Reaper.

Don't ruin the joke by actually being wrong.
>>
>>37748109
He took out dad and depowered Charun. Kae looks at our gifts as amusing instead of a threat. Considering how formidable we are if that is the case we might not get enough gifts in time to do that. Not too mention I doubt we'll be fighting them one on one, unless we get really lucky.
>>
>>37748109
Calling that a joke is an insult to everyone who has ever told a joke and the very concept of humor.
>>
>>37748109
Godhood or completely annihilating the Fae on this planet seem like the only ways we'd be able to put it back in it's proper reality.
>>
>>37748138
>Kae looks at our gifts as amusing instead of a threat.
She has actually only seen one of our gifts in action, and not on her own person.
And she was not amused. Kae has no idea how formidable Shee is.

I wonder why Kae would even tell Shee the truth about the world, other than just to mess with her. Seems kind of cruel.

Not really. Kae just doesn't realise that its not as cool for Shee as its for her.

“Lirael” you say clearly, overriding your own desires, though it’s hard, so hard, you almost just let her have her way “not yet, wait until we’re alone, remember.”

“But Shee” whines Lirael, hugging you tight “No” you say, even though every nerve in your body is screaming *yes*. “It might upset her” you say to Lirael “You can wait” and so can I you add to yourself, I think.

The two of you wait in agonised silence until Rainya wakes.

“Good morning” you say with forced cheer as she comes around “sleep well?”

“Uh yeah” says Rainya “Are you ok?”

“I’m fine” you say in a slightly strained voie “Just, Lirael needs feeding, would you mind...”

“I’ll uh” says Rainya, rising quickly “I’ll go get us breakfast!” She practically jumps up and throws on her clothes, fleeing your shack.

Ah that’s something, you wonder just what Rainya thinks abou-

Rational thought departs as Lirael bites into you and you feel...everything. You sink back on the bed together, Lirael making happy moaning noises as she drains your blood. You sigh in pleasure and hold her close, ah yes, this is what you needed...
---
Once Lirael has got her fill, and you’ve had to bite down on a mouthful of rags to avoid screaming your happiness to the world, not once, but three times, the two of you lie together, you happily stroking Liraels hair, and kissing her on the forehead.

Despite being somewhat distracted, you could hear Rainya outside, and spotted her peeking through a gap in the wall, really it was the smell of breakfast that tipped you off. You never really thought about how sharp your new senses are as a psychic. Before, feeding was pleasurable, now it is ecstasy, every time. You can smell the stew in the bowls Rainya has outside, you inhale deeper, potatoes, turnips, chicken, rat...yeah, no surprise there...
>>
And Rainya is breathing fast, like she’s run a long way, or she is nervous. But she’s been out there for at least ten minutes, if she doesn’t come in soon, the soup will be cold.

Still, what you’re doing with Lirael, you smile fondly at the young winged vampire in your arms, her expression one of contentment, would Rainya even understand?

What do you do?

Rainya is outside

You call out “You can come in now Rainya, it’s ok.” You feel relaxed and happy, and at peace with yourself, and the whole world.

You and Lirael sit up on your bed as Rainya pokes her head around the door, glancing around, then comes in, with three bowls of warm food.

You look at Lirael and yourself: night clothes all rumpled, and the blankets thrown far from the bed, you smile inwardly, yeah you got a little energetic at the end there.

“Thank you” you say to Rainya, taking the bowls from her, and handing one to Lirael.

You all start eating, Rainya shooting you glances, and then looking away when she sees you noticing.

“Rainya” you say gently “It’s ok, I’m not embarrassed, nor is Lirael.” Lirael gives Rainya a happy smile “if you want to know something, just ask.” You add.

Rainya takes another mouthful of stew and thinks, before asking “Why?”

“Why what?” you say

“Why” Rainya gestures vaguely.

“Well for starters” you say, putting an arm around Lirael “Lirael here would die if she wasn’t fed regularly.”

Rainya rolls her eyes “Not that” she says “I Mean, why, when you could, I dunno, cut yourself into a bowl or something.”

“Ugh no” says Lirael, pulling a face “tastes so lifeless and boring.”

“But” says Rainya “you clearly, I mean” she struggles for the right words.

“Enjoy it?” you say “yes, we both do, and with my powers I can keep healing fast enough that I can keep Lirael healthy myself if needed, normally a vampire has a half-dozen or more feeders.”

Rainya looks back and forth between the two of you, “like lovers?” she says.

“Some do” you admit “For others, its about friendship, or just being close.” Lirael snuggles up to you in emphasis.

Rainya lowers her voice to a whisper “But it seems...sexual” she says. Ah she finally admits watching...
>>
You give a little laugh “I wouldn’t be able to properly compare” you say “Not having had” you glance at Lirael “Anyway, we both enjoy it a great deal, it keeps Lirael healthy, and I can heal quickly, no one is taking advantage of each other, and we care about each other.”

Rainya just looks confused “I don’t understand” she says. Ah words, so hard to describe it sometimes, you wish Rainya could feel as good as you do right now, could see through your eyes and understand.

How do you respond?

>We care about each other and each want the other to be happy Rainya, it’s not complicated
>I’m an addict Rainya, I need this
>Try it, then you’ll understand
>Ask Lirael to read Rainyas mind, and tell you what she’s thinking
>Other (what?)

Because she loves Lirael? She's practically her adoptive daughter now. And then there's the feeder bond strengthening that feeling.
