> [[ Underground: Averron City – Market District // Neutral Territory // PVP Enabled ]]

“Speaking of Andor—he's been bugging me about something weird happening at the Altar earlier.” Ayla continues, and you smile at her words, watching her expression grow more pensive on the other side of the video call. She's starting to think about her words, and sounds overall more severe; you think she might be slipping back into character. News of your actions has spread impressively far; you've barely spent any time in Averron, and you've already “You weren't there when that was going on, by chance? I'd like to hear someone else's side of the story...”

“Yeah, I was there.” You say. “Actually, that was me.”

She looks dumbfounded, and you continue.

“I found out you could offer the Unique Identifiers of dead players to the statue.” You suggest, folding your arms and leaning against a derelict market stall. “I'm surprised no one's tried it yet.”

“People have been hoarding them,” she replies, “In hopes of finding a way to resurrect the dead, or a way to break them down for materials. We're not sure what they're made of—but we might be able to cannibalize them for more impressive technology, upgrade them, or even replicate them, as a way of bringing new players into the game.”

“Well, my friend and I offered some we came across on a rogue Nameless, and they disappeared. With a nice light show, mind you, but totally gone otherwise.”

“Disappeared?” She asks. “Did the players come back to life?”

“I don't know.” You shake your head. “I've got a feeling they didn't, but it might be a step in the right direction. Next question's this: you know Andor and Liza well, right? What do you think about the Disposable Heroes and the Crimson Guardians?”

“New-blood.” Yeah, she's back in character. “You expect me to sit here and play twenty questions with you?”

You nod confidently, expressionless. “Yes.”

She grits her teeth, turning a bit red in the face. “...I.”

“Well?”

“They're.” Ayla sighs, trying to regain her composure. It's easy to throw her off—when she gets serious, she's used to expecting everyone around her to do the same. “The Heroes are laid-back, but there's not a whole lot of leadership among them. Andor's been enforcing the neutrality policy around town, whereas the rest of the officers are pushing recruits toward the surface project. We've barely made progress, though the top Techs have been hashing out blueprints for some sort of excavator—it'll take more than what we've got to get it up and running.”

“And the Guardians?”

“Liza is a girl of few words, and she runs a tight shift.” Ayla shrugs. “As the Alliance leaders, we've a private message board for the three of us and some of our guilds' officers. She doesn't really put her two cents in unless she thinks we're doing something wrong, or badly. You're thinking about them—is that why you're turning down my offer? You'd have to be more decorated, even now, for them to let you in the front door, and she'd see to it that you were properly humiliated before you left. You can't just—”

“I'm said I'm not turning down your offer, Ayla.” You shake your head. “I said I'm weighing my options. It's too early for me to decide. Now, I've got a couple of people waiting on me, so I believe I'll see you later.”

“Yeah,” she says, “Later.”

The call closes, the top and bottom of the video projection folding together with scan lines like an old-school television. You accept Ayla's contact request, and an image of her smiling face appears next to her name. Your list is in alphabetical order—Ayla, Nel, and Smith. Three friends already!

You're supposed to be meeting up with Nel and the rest of his new party near the warehouse district in just a few minutes; you dismissed them a moment ago to deal with Ayla, as well as handle some other responsibilities.

Seems you've made quite an impact already.

In my opinion we must join the CG and then take every opportunity to tease Ayla whilst rising up ranks and becoming extra important
>>
>>37731956
I figure that whilst we should spend our xp we should see what stat bonuses we get first. If it's only a couple hp we gain for 1xp then it might be more prudent to grab an ability first or something
>>
>>37731892
>> Investigate the market stalls, and sell your unused items.

>>
>>37731892
> Meet with Nel early. Let's get this show on the road!
>>
>>37731999
Have you not read our sheet at all? We know for a fact we don't gain HP outside of soending XP at all. In fact, to advance anything, you need to spend your XP.

To get an ability (outside of our first level passive), we need to raise a mastery, but we currently do not have the points to invest into an ability, even if we unlock it. Therefore, it would be far more prudent to increase either Saber, and increase our damage, or increase our HP, and how many hits we can take.
>>
>>37731816
while I doubleback to the archive, you might want to put the different job classes into a pastebin, too.
>>
>>37732053
I'd rather increase movement mastery
>>
>>37731892
> Investigate the market stalls, and sell your unused items.
>>
>>37732135
At this stage, especially with the prevalence of PvP disabled zones/PKers, it is far more prudent to invest in a skill that gives us an immediate benefit.
>>
>>37732053
>>37732135
I think we should invest in HP if we focus on dealing with normal encounters. Need a buffer as we learn the ropes.

Movement is also good, but it comes with higher risks since a mistake could be costly. On the other hand, it would be more useful against a boss-type enemy.

Anything else would depend entirely on what we find in the market/from identifying.
>>
>>37732053
I read it yesterday and forgot exactly how unlocking new abilities worked, hence 'or something'.

My point is that if we only get 1hp extra by spending our xp on hp I'd really rather see us put early points into more significant improvements.

Looking at it now, movement or offense mastery looks a good call so that we can potentially unlock some early abilties. The masteries also appear to stand in for strength, def and agility stats and so we might gain noticeable physical improvement by increasing them.
>>
>>37732208
>1hp extra by spending our xp on hp
where did you hear that?
>>
>>37732208
That's a really strong 'maybe' there, anon. It's better if we invest into something that we know will give us a boost -- like HP or a weapon skill.

Also, equating them to stats isn't necessarily valid, I don't think -- consider what other skills the other four jobs could have gotten. I think it's a bit erroneous to label them in such a way right now.
>>
>>37732260
>>37732208
Additionally, I highly doubt we onlt get one hp per xp spent -- considering we get *no increase in hp otherwise, to our knowledge*, it would be a mistake on the QM's part to have it scale directly like that.
>>
>>37732232
Nowhere, and we've not been told anything to the contrary either. I'm advocating waiting and evaluating our options after the QM tells us what stat raises we get for our xp.

>>37732260
I take your point, it's just speculation on that part, but the main thing is that it would pave the way for some abilities

>>37732288
Yeah, I'm expecting it to be somewhere in the 4-10hp gain area. I'm just saying that if it's particularly low it really isn't going to confer much of a benefit at this stage whereas we could do all sorts of things with abilities.
>>
>>37732352
If it's even 6 extra HP, that would be a huge bonus at this point. For instance, the Gunner that attacked us at the beginning of the quest? She did six damage per shot, which, as our hp stands, is a quarter of our available health. At 30, that would be a fifth.

But I think I do agree that waiting for a little more info on how this works is probably the modt prudent course of action.
>>
>>37732412
Yeah, at 6 and above I'd be seriously considering a hp boost. All along I've been advocating alternate routes on the premise the hp rise isn't significant.

I'm pretty sure anything we leveled up would give us some sort of boost, I'm not sure why you think only health or weapon skills would

There's a general store where a few players are loitering, and you find an NPC behind the counter. As you begin cycling through your inventory, you recall the guardsman you met mentioning “cred-sinks”. It's unlikely that any player other than the newest would want any of the junk you're hauling around, but his statement implied that money delivered to NPCs leaves the economy—so much of what you've seen thus far involves players purchasing things from other players, whereas selling items to NPCs and finding loot in dungeons dumps credits into the economy... You're overthinking this for sure.

The NPC is about half your height: orange-furred, with a pair of thick glasses, a long dress, and a rat-like tail. “How can I help you?”

I don't see the need to buy much else, maybe a couple potions? I tend to horde my gold early in games since the stuff you can buy at the start isn't usually that good and the game's not difficult enough to need it.

You duck away from the merchant briefly and switch your gear out to see what you've got equipped currently. Rather than walk around in your underwear, you decide to equip the patched leather armor and leather pants.

The patched leather armor feels like it offers a little bit more protection. It covers a similar area, but is a lot thicker. The difference is probably negligible. The leather pants most definitely afford more armor than your cloth ones.

You decide to see what your current clothes are worth, under the vague assumption that items that cost more are better. You catalogue all of the wearables:

patched leather armor - 50#
leather pants - 37#
leather jerkin - 25#
loose cloth pants - 15#
comfortable shirt - 25#
heavy boots - 37#

"Do you know who can?"

She pauses, as if computing a response, then points in a direction. "Go see the fortune teller, in the tent down the street."

You follow the stone road to a purple tent, hastily set up on wooden poles. Inside is full of fog, thick with an intoxicating scent. The place is empty, save for a table with a crystal ball on a pillow in the center. They trail off.

You shrug, passing a few more credits through for a consultation. What harm could it do?

"Ah, yes." They growl deeply, and you can see a row of sharp teeth smile wide behind the darkness of the hood. "Strange, that you would fancy this meeting when our futures are so murky. Dear child, what troubles you so?"

"This ability, the unknown one." You begin to ask about the unknown ability you have, but aren't sure how to vocalize it. You use your UI to project your skill menu onto the table, and point at it for the fortune teller.

"Mm, yes."

The conversation stalls. The NPC appears as if they're beginning to speak; then, their animations abruptly reset with a noticeable twitch.

They go through that same un-nerving smile from before, repeating the phrase, intoned the same way.

"Strange, that you would fancy this meeting when our futures are so murky."

You pause, instinctively blurting. "What?"

"One can see many things in the ether, and learn more from the Celestials. Uncover their artifacts by searching carefully in your travels through dangerous locations, and you will find the truth in a matter of time." They tilt their head. "My sight is much vaster than many. Clear your mind, child, and allow me to alleviate your worries. Where shall I direct my gaze?"

Let's get some lore then.

Intrigueing response to that unknown ability, that's totally a glitch and whilst the game might be buggy since it's new it's still something we should ask Ayla about in case she's heard of any more instances.

Maybe hit up those chatboards and see if people in general have seen anything about it.

I'd agree that it would indicate it can't answer everything but it's totally missing a 'can't tell you that, ask something else' animation if that's the issue here.

Which again could just be a bug due to the game being new, but could well be something more interesting.

You notice that the cat isn't charging you for a second consultation. It's as if showing them whatever you just showed them caused a reset, like the conversation never happened, and defaulted to you asking for a consultation.

"I'm about to go on a quest in the ruins below Averron. What can you tell me about them?" You ask.

The fortune-teller pauses. "Many believe that those old ruins were once a part of a higher civilization. Whether that's true: the answer lies below. Whoever lived down there worshipped the Celestials as well, though perhaps in different ways. With a close eye, you might find the artifacts of gods, the Celestial Gems. You could even encounter a Materialization Altar."

"Anything else?"

"Their technology was more advanced than you may think; you might find blueprints in unlikely places. Within the old cathedral lurks a powerful entity called Kjorikos. To reach this place, you must first find and defeat the Obsidian Pegasus."

It gets quiet, as you head for the warehouse district. The streets widen up a little bit, large, empty-looking buildings flanking you on either side. You were told not to come out here alone, but you're just going to the gate, and you can see a guard not terribly far away. You pick up the pace.

Nel waves at you, loitering nearby the outside of the city. There's a couple of unfamiliar figures standing around him, and he introduces you as you come within proximity.

"Everyone, this is Ascheritte." He smiles ear-to-ear.

"Going to introduce me to everyone else?" You ask.

"Well, if no one else wants to go first." There's a man with short brown hair and a bluish robe--it's short, and done up a bit so it looks like a duster. He's got a staff in one hand, and strikes you as seeming awfully generic. "I'm Rhett, an Artificer. Trying to find some cool elemental foci to put on things. I can't really take a hit, but I'll go wherever I'm needed."

"Mhm." He gestures to a short girl with facial markings, hair done up to look like cat ears; she's wearing a pair of studded leather gauntlets, and her forearms and chest are bound with bandages. "This is Tatsumaki. English isn't her first language, so she's not super talkative."

"Hi." Tatsumaki speaks quietly.

"Hello. Are you sure communication won't be an issue, Nel?" You ask.

"I've seen her fighting outside." Rhett interrupts. "She seems pretty good."

"Vision." The last man is about your height, with skin darker than yours, and a rifle--a longcaster--slung over his back. "Just trying to learn my way around this place."

"Now, then." Nel says. "If everyone's ready, let's head off to the lower quarter. Got what you wanted, Ash?"

"Yeah. Let's fight some cave monsters before we dig too deep, eh?" You suggest. "Get a feel for our group dynamic."

"Sure." Nel responds. "Thinking ahead."

"I like." Rhett says. Tatsumaki just smiles and nods.

"I'm good for whatevs." Vision shrugs.

The five of you head out of the city, staying close together as you follow a series of spiraling caves downward, beneath Averron City. Below, it's noticeably colder, and bridges are shrouded by the white fog you saw from above.

"Low visibility here." Nel seems to have straightened up a bit. He's walking cautiously, knives drawn. "This route leads down to the ruins, but there's an area below that widens up where we should find some monsters, as well as a few spider caves if you're feeling up to it."

"Gotcha. By the by," You say, "Have you guys talked to the fortune teller in town? The consultations are interesting. He told me there might even be a Celestial Altar down here."

"Woah, woah. Really?" Nel halts and turns on a heel. "What if it's a Greater, like the one in the city?"

> [[ 1/2 ]]
>>
>>37736526

"We could make another Averron." Rhett chuckles. "Y'know, under this one. Or anything else, assuming we're the first to find it."

You recall what Ayla said: that the offering was waiting for her when her and the other alliance leaders paved the way into what's now Averron City. "How many Celestial Gems do you think it took to make Averron? They aren't just going to leave that lying around, are they?"

"Hell, I'd first ask for a rocket launcher or somethin'." Vision chuckles. "Seems more useful than another city right under ours."

"So you're not planning on splitting the loot?" Nel asks.

"Fine, fine." Vision responds. "A rocket launcher for each of us."

There's a rumbling from overhead; you see a worm-like shape in the fog, wriggling its way into a distant cave wall.

"Crawlers." Nel says, assuming a fighting stance.

"Mm?" Rhett says. "I haven't seen one of those yet."

"Well, I think they see us, which means we're on a clock. I don't think they're special, but anything can go. Light on your feet, or they'll ambush from below."

> Lose 'em, and break for the spider caves.

Nel was right: this place does open up. You rush across the foggy bridge ahead onto a massive, suspended stone platform, similar to where Averron City is built. Rhett begins to call out to you, but pauses mid-sentence; rather than try to work out details, the rest of the party forms up and picks up step to remain a decent distance behind you.

"There!" You look over your shoulder, and hear the familiar sound of gunfire as Vision fires a bolt into the fog. "Above!"

"No, two! Or, three!" Nel shouts, and you see him make a rolling dive to one side. "Here, watch me!"

"Careful! Wait for them, and just don't get hit!"

There's rumbling from beneath your feet, and you see the ground start to crack.

It barely misses, bursting forth from the ground beneath you, and keeps coming, segmented body twice as long as you are tall, with more eyes than you can count at a glance, a pair of pincers, and gnashing mouth-parts. It's the same color as the cave stone you walk on. Gravel, bits and pieces of stone rain down around you, and you can feel each one on your skin, grit in your eyes.

You dive backwards as the crawler emerges, letting it skim past you, and flop heavily onto the stone floor. At a glance, the rest of the party is a bit scattered. It makes sense; cooperating is easy enough in a regular game, but here, you have to remain physically situationally aware of everything underway around you. You're almost overwhelmed for a moment as you swirl around, attempting to take everything in.

Rhett and Nel are scrambling apart, attempting to dodge a pair of creatures diving at them like a pincer attack. Counting your target and Vision's, there's a total of four crawlers. You don't see Tatsumaki anywhere, and don't have time to look without giving up your chance to counterattack; your assailant is crawling towards you quickly already.

"Stay calm! They go down in just a few hits! Just try to find an opening!" Nel's voice echoes from over your shoulder.

"One down!" Vision shouts; then, you hear him cry out in pain. You don't have time to look, as you're already on the move, eyes fixed on your target. A quick weave to the left as you draw within proximity, to dodge the first pincer, then the second. Quick on your feet.

There.

You raise your weapon, and dive in for a wide, sweeping slash.

Straight through: your blade hits flesh, between body segments, a pair of exoskeleton plates. It continues through, and the creature screeches as you follow the swing into a dodging maneuver, diving sideways to avoid danger, or a final attack from the dying crawler.

You bisect the monster, purple blood spraying across the cave floor. It would have been enough, even without your boosted Saber skill.

> You defeated crawler. [[ Party: Nel, Tatsumaki, Vision, Rhett ]]

There's another gunshot as you recover from your roll and keep moving. A flash of light pierces the fog, and there's another screech, lower in pitch this time, and accompanied by a guttral growl.

> Vision defeated crawler. [[ Party: Nel, Tatsumaki, Ascheritt, Rhett ]]

Vision looks hurt; his shirt is bloodied, but he's still on his feet. There's screeching through the fog, and you turn towards the source. Tatsumaki is dancing circles around her crawler, and you notice she's still unarmed.

It misses a dive, and goes in for a charge, but she intercepts, punching its head into the ground with a gauntlet-clad fist, and following up with a painful looking stomp that lands heavy enough to crack the stone beneath.

The crawler flails, sweeping her legs out from under her, and she tumbles to the ground on the opposite side of it—"Oof!"

Nel and Rhett are still dealing with a pair, but doing a fine job avoiding damage; Nel is supporting, going for flanking dagger strikes that don't seem to be doing a whole lot, while Rhett isn't being terribly effective either. His staff is now tipped with a burning fireball, and he's waving and prodding it at the crawlers as they approach; he can't seem to land a hit, but he's keeping them at range as they shy away, frightened by the flames.

Then, you hear more rumbling from below. This time, louder, and lower in pitch.

"No good, Nel! Get back, now!" There's a sudden shift in the ground, throwing your balance as you draw within proximity.

It's already here.

The earth in front of you cracks, and bends up into a mound before shattering. A blast of light. You're bombarded by sharp bits of rock from in front, and bring your arms up to shield your face. It hits you head on, mouth-parts clamping together around your ankle, and throws you skyward with a barreling, rag-doll swing.

You see blood. It hurts—not real pain, but that same dull feeling you got when you were last hit.

[[ Ascheritte: 13 / 24 HP ]]

It's below you, and much larger than the other three, about as big as a van, were you in real life. It's created a massive, angry barrier between Nel and Rhett, and Tatsumaki and Vision; the former two are still struggling with a pair of crawlers, while the latter two have defeated their targets and are scrambling to make some distance.

You're ten or fifteen feet in the air, tumbling, and are unsure of if you're falling yet or still ascending. The giant crawler is below you on the ground, turning towards Nel and Rhett. You don't know if there's fall damage.

If there's any confusion about that, skills aren't abilities. If you have an ability, it should definitely tell you what it does. Same thing in regards to >>37736415. If you learned an ability called "Power Attack", I'm saying it would be evident what Level 2 Power Attack does--not that you'll necessarily know what lurks in the following levels of your masteries without diving in. There are some people who are very on the right track, so I know that this isn't all just coming out of left field.

Anything that seems nebulous isn't that way for no reason.

> Nel defeated crawler. [[ Party: Vision, Tatsumaki, Ascheritt, Rhett ]]

"Come on!" Nel shouts. He pulls both of his blades from between the dead crawler's eyes, and lunges to the side of the giant one, repeatedly striking its exoskeleton. He's trying to get its attention, pull it away from the group.

He moves it into position for you, and you swing at it as you come down, hooking your blade into its back and swinging into its hard body: better than hitting the ground. You feel something give, and worry that your sword might have been damaged, but don't have time to think about it.

It screeches, and you pull your blade free, you and Nel running in the same direction on opposite sides of the thing. Your ankle looks torn, and you're not sure how you can still run as well as you are. Rhett is still struggling with the last of the crawlers that emerged earlier; you see him miss a swing, and then, things take a quick turn for the worse as it tackles him to the ground and begins thrashing on top of him.

It's slithering toward you and Nel, body undulating, sending reverberations through the ground with each minute movement of its massive, segmented body. On one side, Tatsumaki and Vision look for a way inside. On the other, the last of four Crawlers appears to be crushing Rhett to death.

"Nel! Help Rhett!" You shout, already producing a potion from your UI. "Tatsumaki, Vision! On my target!"

"I'm going!" Nel replies. For a bit, as he jumps back, he's cloaked in a blue light; then, it fades, and he transcends the impending danger, moving toward Rhett and leaving shimmering after-images in his path.

You throw back the potion, noting a faint, heady flavor. Aside from that sensation, it doesn't taste like most of anything, or even feel like you're really swallowing any liquid.

> [[ Ascheritt: 23 / 24 HP ]]

With a sickening crack, your ankle bends back into place, and bands of rubbery flesh reach across the bloodied gap to close the wound, leaving nothing more than a small gash. Then, you ready your sword, as the crawler is upon you.

Another swiping claw, and you can't move in time to dodge this one. You sidestep, bringing your blade around to parry the strike.

Your guard breaks, and doesn't slow the attack in the slightest. A pincer, exoskeleton cold and hard like cave stone bites into your ribcage, and you wince, stumbling out of the way to avoid further harm. Tatsumaki and Vision are inflicting damage, breaking chunks off the crawler's armor.

> [[ Ascheritt: 16 / 24 HP ]]

It's losing your attention, swirling around to swipe at more interesting targets.

Then you hear Nel's voice, a shrill, plaintive cry like a screaming child.

"RHETT! RHEEETTTT!"

Vision hasn't stopped shooting since he first opened fire, blasting off chunks of exoskeleton and blue-grey flesh. Tatsumaki's still pounding away at it, and doesn't notice that it's turned to face her until too late. It dives forward, shattering her guard and throwing her to the ground several feet away.

> Nel defeated crawler. [[ Party: Vision, Tatsumaki, Ascheritte ]]

There's one name fewer on your list. Nel hasn't stopped shouting, and you can barely understand him now.

You give a battle cry, driving your blade deep and charging the length of the creature's body, dragging a jagged scar along the length of its side. Then, it turns to you, partly shifting its attention, partly thrown wide by another salvo of Vision's attacks.

It charges, mandibles spread wide, but you're ready this time, taking a wide slash upward through the roof of its gaping maw.

> Ascheritte defeated giant crawler. [[ Party: Vision, Tatsumaki, Nel ]]

The cave falls silent, the sounds of skittering and burrowing growing more distant.

"Is everyone alright?" You ask.

On the other side of the enormous crawler corpse in front of you, Nel is slumped over Rhett's broken, motionless body. His ribcage is collapsed, and his dim, dented UI lies under him.

"Fuck... I wasn't fast enough..."

At some point, you leveled up. You didn't even notice.

Vision is silent, and Tatsumaki seems to bear a frown. There's a long pause, where you just look and listen to the cave around you. It's still too real. You don't want to be the one to break the silence, but otherwise you'd all just stand here for the rest of the night. It's just a game. You take a deep breath before speaking. "Should we go ahead and loot them?"

"Yeah," Vision says, with a sigh. "Let's see what we've got, and how we want to split it. Everyone good?"

Nel doesn't respond, leaving the rest of you to mull over inventory.

As the three of you stumble over the giant crawler's broken body, you see a faint glint of light, and everything changes. It appeals to you in a way you don't understand, but you might remember: a familiar scent, a warm touch, something you've lost, and thought you'd never see again.

You struggle, forcing yourself to take your eyes off it. Vision appears transfixed, slowly reaching to grab the loot, while Tatsumaki just stands slack-jawed, quivering, a bit red-faced.

"I think... I'm gonna go ahead and take that..." Vision says. "...if no one minds."

Does it give us anything else other than abilities?
Say could offence give us more strength in general.
Movement make us faster/more stamina?
>>
>>37742110
You can assume that you will become stronger/faster as a composite effect of your new abilities.
There are also abilities with passive benefits.
>>
>>37742056
It takes a-fucking-lot to make the most powerful gear ever created dumbass, said so when talking about the Guardian's leader.
If we can already get a Celestial Gem at the level we're at, a single Celestial Gem won't mean as much as you think.
>>
>>37742170
If this is taking as much inspiration from Arcadia as I think it is, it'll take many gems to get something super powerful.
One will let you add a useful effect, and the more you shove into the same bit of gear the more effects you get, or the effects you have get stronger.
>>
>>37742214
Or we can save until we go find an alter.

When someone dies, for sonething. And that's exactly what happend. Someone died, trying to kill a monster that had one.

so the gem is not one of the most sought after things in this game?

>>
>>37742246

>>
>>37742019
Can you make an official vote so we can get some concensus?
>>
>>37742249
You're not understanding this
A single gem is NOT emphasis on the NOT going to make good gear.
It's not gonna make ANY gear in fact, because it is a single fucking gem.
What you are talking about would require HUNDREDS maybe THOUSANDS of gems, not ONE.
It could provide buffs to certain gear (maybe), but with our current get up, which is all low-tier stuff, I'd advise against it.
And AGAIN. If we can get gems at the low level we're at, more gems will follow soon.
>>
>>37742320
>What you are talking about would require HUNDREDS maybe THOUSANDS of gems
Actually it was stated that only one or a few gems can be used to make them(you have to remember the game is only a few days old, and almost everyone is a beginner).
Also i suspect there is qualities and different types of gems, but right now they are pretty valuable since ti seems they drop from strong/mid boss monsters.
>>
>>37742214
I am down with this.
But we can't use it on shit gear. We should save up cash. And stuff we find till we can make a decent sword. That we can upgrade from there.

>>37742320
I think you're focusing to much on gear and using the gem for that.
his original point is, it is important. Lets not use it on a random guy we aren't very connected to.
which is an asshole move since he kinda died so we could live.
because he was weak or just bad timing/place

I wouldn't want to increase a weapon yet. cause we may find a different weapon we may like more. Especially while we're dungeon diving.
>>

>>

"If we've found one here, there might be more to follow, right?" Tatsumaki and Vision still stand transfixed, and seem upset with you when you reach to grab the Celestial Gem; they don't say anything, but their eyes widen in protest. You're having a hard time coming to your senses too--hey, wasn't she upset about Rhett's death, just a second ago?

Your hand is shaking, and you say something that you think will ease their minds, just so you can have it. "Maybe we can use it to bring Rhett back."

They seem satisfied, if only mildly. As the Celestial Gem vanishes into your inventory, your feeling of want and anxiety goes with it.

But, now, you want more, and you never want to let it go.

"That leaves two of these crystals, six worm teeth, and this orb." You suggest. "So, I guess I can take..."

"I think you've taken enough, haven't you?" Vision seems noticeably agitated. "There are four of us, remember?"

He helps himself to one of the crystals and a pair of worm teeth before wandering over to Rhett's body, nudging Nel as he draws within proximity. "Kid, go get your share."

"Just give it to Ashe." He pouts.

"Yeah, sure. Whatever." Vision begins fiddling with his UI, and you hear the sound of a credit transfer from your own; 73 credits have come your way. Tatsumaki takes the earthen orb, leaving a fractalline crystal and another pair of teeth to you. "Kid, you want any of Rhett's stuff?"

"I'll look." Nel sighs. "I don't deserve it, though..."

"Idiot." The gunner tosses his rifle over his shoulder. "It wasn't your fault, alright? No one could have seen this coming. The people that die are doing us a greater favor than you know: they're making the mistakes we don't have to. Use it, or lose it."

can you tell us what our gear does?
I figured since its from the shop, we can see the basic info.
>>
maybe I should make a skill tree one of these days

You mess around with the EXP menu, and are able to get as far as ability choices before it forces you to commit.

It might have saved you some thinking to do this earlier. Either way, you have two points to allocate, and will do so before continuing.

> [[ Offensive Mastery 1 offers a choice from: ]]
* Concussive Strike // Active // Spend PP to make an attack that deals increased damage and can knock targets back a significant distance. Required for: "Overpower", "Charge", "Whirlwind Attack".
* Critical Threat // Passive // Slightly increases critical strike range. Required for: "Fleshrend", "Unarmed Fighter".
* Weapon Mastery // Active // Increases the effectiveness of wielded weapons. Required for: "Two-handed Mastery", "Dual Wield Mastery", "Whirlwind Attack".

> [[ Defensive Mastery 1 offers a choice from: ]]
* Iron Body // Passive // Reduces incoming damage. Required for: "Panacea", "Combat Regeneration".
* Lightning Reflexes // Passive // Increases dodge chance. Required for: "Evasion", "Retaliate", "Intercept".
* Shield Mastery // Passive // Increases the effectiveness of shields. Required for: "Shield Slam", "Shield Wall", "Intercept", "Deflect Projectiles".

> [[ Movement Mastery 1 ]]
* Sprint // Active // Spend PP to temporarily increase running speed, allowing incredible feats of movement. Required for: "Combat Respiration", "Instantaneous Movement".
* Expedited Maneuvers // Passive // Increases effectiveness of recovering while prone, as well as such feats as grappling and disarming. Required for: "Recovering Strike", "Fading Strike".
* Haste // Passive // Chance to gain bonus attack speed when striking. Required for "Flurry of Fists", "Phantasm Strike".

> Spend a point on HP.
> Spend a point on PP.
> Spend a point in Offensive Mastery.
> Spend a point in Defensive Mastery.
> Spend a point in Movement Mastery.
> Spend a point in Sabers.
> Spend a point in Unarmed.

> Spend a point in Offensive Mastery.
Why is weapon mastery an active ability? Shouldn't it be passive?
>>
>>37742965
>* Expedited Maneuvers // Passive // Increases effectiveness of recovering while prone, as well as such feats as grappling and disarming. Required for: "Recovering Strike", "Fading Strike".
>* Lightning Reflexes // Passive // Increases dodge chance. Required for: "Evasion", "Retaliate", "Intercept".
Are my vote.

>>37742965
>* Weapon Mastery // Active // Increases the effectiveness of wielded weapons. Required for: "Two-handed Mastery", "Dual Wield Mastery", "Whirlwind Attack".
>* Iron Body // Passive // Reduces incoming damage. Required for: "Panacea", "Combat Regeneration".
HP next time. After HP we get Regeneration.
>>
>>37742991
Yeah, seconding this. The fact it's a passive boost to pretty useful things just makes it too good to pass up
>>
>>37742965
>> Spend a point in Offensive Mastery.
>> Spend a point in Movement Mastery.
shouldn't weapon mastery be passive?
if they come free 1, since it's our first points into the trees.
* Expedited Maneuvers // Passive // Increases effectiveness of recovering while prone, as well as such feats as grappling and disarming. Required for: "Recovering Strike", "Fading Strike".
* Weapon Mastery // Active // Increases the effectiveness of wielded weapons. Required for: "Two-handed Mastery", "Dual Wield Mastery", "Whirlwind Attack".
>>
>>37743015
Wait, you sure we get all three?
>>
>>37743028
Look
>>37742527
>Achieving the mastery for an ability will give you the first level of that ability. I'll put it to a proper vote soon.

>>37742965
>> Spend a point in Offensive Mastery.
* Concussive Strike // Active // Spend PP to make an attack that deals increased damage and can knock targets back a significant distance. Required for: "Overpower", "Charge", "Whirlwind Attack".

> Spend a point in Movement Mastery.
seems movements gives us all three?
>>
>>37743015
Oh, alright
Change my vote to
> Spend a point in Offensive Mastery.
> Spend a point in Defensive Mastery.
>>
>>37743028
You don't get all three, you choose one per upgrade.
>>
>>37743032
>>37743028
>>37743015
I could be wrong though, now that i look at it.
if so than i'm changing my vote to this.
>>37742991
If not than i'll stay the same
>>37743050
Might want to wait til we get confirmation anon.
>>
>>37743015
well if thats true
I want offensive
and movement
>>
>>37743060
thanks for clearing that up.
>>37743021
I'll change weapon mastery if it's not going to be passive to
* Concussive Strike // Active // Spend PP to make an attack that deals increased damage and can knock targets back a significant distance. Required for: "Overpower", "Charge", "Whirlwind Attack".
We need something that dishs out massive damage.

>>
Changing this >>37743050 back to >>37742994
>>
>>37743128
Ah, hell with it. Archiving. We'll start with this next time.
>>
>>37743191
don't we already have a consensus?
>>
>>37743201
Not even close
>>
>>37743201
I'll tally the votes and run with it then. I'm tired and not QMing well at the moment.
>>
>>37743191
>>37743214
?The vote seems to be.
>Expedited Maneuvers
5
>Lightning Reflexes
3
Weapon Mastery
2
Iron Bod
1
Concussive Strike
2
>>
>>37743225
>>37743201
But, as I was going to say, it looks like there's still a lot of polarization, and I'd like to clear up any misunderstanding before moving on.
>>
>>37743235
* Weapon Mastery // Active // Increases the effectiveness of wielded weapons. Required for: "Two-handed Mastery", "Dual Wield Mastery", "Whirlwind Attack".
will be passive or activate? Seems more like a passive ability
>>
>>37743235
Well have a good n8ght, and thanks for running.
>>
>>37742596
>You need more Celestial Gems.
That is some baaaaad mojo, right there.

Like, maybe we should just stop touching the things.

>>37742965
Well, I DID say that I would push for TechKnight, so...

>Offensive Mastery
-Weapon Mastery

>Defensive Mastery
-Iron Body
>>
...Is it called Broken Sky because of the focus on A People Divided? Divided by greed, short-sighted selfishness, and mistrust?
>>
>>37742965
2 on defensive if buying shield mastery allows us to buy deflect projectiles with #2
>>
>>37743906
if we cant get deflect projectiles next, get iron body and shield mastery
