The night came and went while Sierra Squad was ordered to rest by Command while the battle for Geonosis raged on. When morning came, it was starting to look like the Republic would "win" this fight. A phyrric victory at best with the promise of war. At 0600, Sierra Squad finds themselves at the site where Command has set up their operations; countless terminals, cords and cables, clones rushing about while talking in their comms and checking different consoles, gunships flying in and out. You even spotted General Yoda in the midst earlier, but you didn't have the chance to speak with him. The battle is still going on and the general is far too busy to speak with you, or so you think. It doesn't take long until you're greeted by Advisor in person as well as another clone coloured blue, a captain.

"Sierra Squad, reporting for duty.", you proclaim, your squad saluting professionally behind you. "At ease, commandos.", the captain starts, "Commander Four-Five, your squad has been tasked with the retrieval of two individuals from a facility close to a still operational core ship."

>Accept the mission readily, you can ask Advisor for details later.
>Ask the captain for details now. (Like what?)

"Enemy troop composition? Possible extraction points after recovery?", you proceed to ask for Intel because a seperatist core ship, even the outskirts of one, is bound to be littered with droids. On an even more important note, knowing where the extraction points are always prove to be vital for a successful search and rescue mission. The helmetless, but still armoured, Captain eyes you up and down for a short moment before he proceeds with Intel.

"Expect heavy resistance, Sierra. Several platoons of SBDs, Assault battle droids, Droidekas and even the occassional rolling Hailfire droids are in the nearby vicinity of the facility where the two individuals tagged for extraction are hiding.", the Captain pulls out a hand-held holoprojector and an image of the facility next to the core ship flashes up in an image above the projector, "After securing the individuals, you will make your way through the exit in the back of the facility. The frequency of enemy patrol is scarce in that sector. Move away from the core ship and follow your advisors instructions to reach the extration point."

"What are the I.D.s of the individuals we are tasked with retrieving, sir?", you promt for more Intel as it might help you and your squad in how to plan ahead on how to deal with them if they are in a state of panic upon discovery.

"General Zen Malcov and his padawan, Yna Ti, are both stuck inside the facility after successfully completing their own mission at the site. The general has been wounded and Commander Ti has request Sierra Squad for extraction. You will comply with her orders, commando."

Just got here and the moment you said 2 individuals I thought "Wouldn't it be funny if Yna and her master screwed up again".

"Understood, sir.", and with that the captain and you salute each other before he leaves to join a small crowd of other clones that are still working tirelessly as liaisons and tacticians, dealing with with intelligence and communications for the entire Grand army of the Republic. Without these men, every single small squad of Commandos to large companies of clone troopers would fight blindly out on the battlefield and the seperatists would have a higher chance at victory, no matter how phyrric it may be. "Sierra, form up on me. You heard the captain; This is a search-and-rescue operation. It will be a stealth based mission. Keep communications to a minimum unless you have clear sight of hostile patrols or other noteable factors that could risk the mission. Understood?", you explain to your squad which is answered with a unified, "Sir, yes, sir!" from your loyal squad.

Advisor is quick to get a gunship for you that will fly you close to the core ship, but still outside of enemy sensors. From there you will have to sneak your way through the enemy ranks to reach the facility. Your advisor will also patch you through to general Malcov if need for questions/intel from him arises. Once you're onboard the gunship, you're notified that it will take about five minutes before you reach the LZ. The ship takes off and Sierra squad stands in it, holding onto the straps.

"Do you think Yna will give us a kiss for rescuing her?", Joker suddenly blurts out and is greeted with one of Ones usual moody comments, but he's still holding back considering how close Joker was to losing it a few hours ago, "Kiss? You? I bet she'd kiss a womp rat before considering kissing you, Joker."

"I don't know, Ones; I think my chances are pretty good. What do you think, Mute?", but his question is answered with a low grunt from Mute, signalling that he either doesn't care very much for the subject or he isn't listening right now.

CONT.

Joker turns to you instead, "What do you think, Chief? Are my chances high with the Jedi commander?", his tone is more playful than it is serious.

"What makes you think Four-Five would know? He's not exactly a ladies man.", Ones cuts in before you can respond, to which both Joker and Ones chuckle wholeheartedly at.

A smirk shines up beneath your helmet, "I don't know, Joker. I think she was eyeing me more than you while we were in the spire.", and Ones pats Joker on the shoulder, continuing on your point, "He's got a point, mate; While you were busy climbing and hacking computers, the Jedi was busy flirting with our commander."

"Lies. It's like I don't even know you anymore, brother.", Joker tries his hardest to sound hurt, but you catch the lightness in his tone far too easily, "May the best clone win her heart, Chief."

While Joker and Ones continue with the current running gag, you hear the confirmation of greenlight from the pilot, "Alright, cut the chatter and get in gear, Sierra. Prepare to grappel down and stay frosty.", and your team kicks into attention. Joker makes sure his weapon is fully loaded and operational, Ones is checking his backpack for all the new grenades and charges he got during your stay at Commands HQ, and Mute is attaching the sniper barrel and optics to his rifle. Everyone is ready for the mission that awaits you.

"Sierra Squad, LZ is down below. Commence grappling and good luck, Commandos.", you all hear the pilots voice through your comms before the entire team grapples down from the flying republic aircraft. The hard sand is a a familiar feeling underneath your boots, but different from the ground Command's HQ has been situated at. You find yourself in yet another twisting canyon, but this one looks a bit wider than the last one and in the close distance you can clearly see the large seperatist core ship rising up in the horizon above the rock walls. If you hadn't known better, you and your squad would have remained where the LZ was when a group of droids came patrolling into the area just a couple of seconds after the ship has left, but like the commandos you are, you've already retreated behind cover.

Also, a thread? ago, there was some confusion about bionics. OP did good about that. Having cybernetics is actually makes people discriminate against you for some reason in Star Wars. Being a clone AND having cybernetics? You're not gonna have a good time.

From one rock to another, Sierra squad proves to be quite versed in the arts of stealth as they make their way through the twisting and turning canyon, avoiding every single droid patrol that passes them by. With every rock they hide behind, they get a few meters closer to the core ship. Small bands of battle droids soon turn into larger squads lead by SBDs and Droidekas rolling about and then into large companies of droids that are stationed in designated areas, making it difficult for Sierra Squad to pass by, but they eventually always find a way through without being detected. Ever since the stealth mission began, the members of Sierra hasn't said a word. Even Joker has remained dead silent throughout it all.

After evading a passing hailfire droid, you finally reach the facility located near the core ship. There are droids patrolling close to it, but none of them are trying to get into the structure so the two Jedi must have successfully remained undetected. Now comes the more tricky part; There are patrols walking around the entire front perimeter of the building, leaving little room to get to it without being detected halfway there. From where you are hiding right now, you can only access the front and the side of the building. The less guarded back is out of your reach. Some SBDs, assault battle droids, regular battle droids and the occassional droideka make up the patrols moving about outside the building.

>Come up with a plan on how to get inside the facility undetected. (How?)
>Make a run for it; Stealth is no longer needed when you're this close.
>Ask your squad members for advice.

>>37680875

>Come up with a plan on how to get inside the facility undetected. (How?)
prehaps we can plant some explosives a distance away from the entrance to create a distraction so we can sneak in among the confusion.
>>
We are going to need some kind of distraction to give us an opening.
>>
>>37680955
>Squad huddle. they've had some decent ideas before.

Maybe they'll have a good idea for a distraction. Mines just rigging a bomb to go off but that'd likely just put the door guards on alert while other patrols converge on the bomb. or even recall outer patrols to it.
>>
>>37680994
This is probably our best bet.

Another way could be to stealthy grab a battle droid, hack it, and make it do stupid shit for confusion, but I have no idea if we can actually do that.
>>
>>37680955

ion blast a single isolated droid away from the entrance. see how the fortress reacts. maybe it'll open an alternate entrance for maintenance droids or something.

You have to distract the droids patrolling about the area, but there's not many ways to do so; You could set a charge to pull their attention elsewhere, but then they might redraw the patrols you passed on your way here, making your job even harder. You could throw a rock against a nearby wall, but it might not attract enough attention to be a certain plan. In the end the only plan you can think of is still a longshot and might just fail all the same, but you trust your brother is up to the task.

"Joker", you call out to the engineer and hacker of your squad through the comm in a whisper, "Do you think you could successfully hack a battle droid if we got you one still functioning?" - the question prompts further silence from Joker. He seems to be deep in thought, which is a rare sight to see.

"Hm, there's a first time for everything, sir.", he responds, giving you a somewhat uncertain green light for whatever plan you have in mind with his usual thumbs-up. You nod, looking for the support of your other two brothers. They nod with certainty at you when you look over. Then it's settled; Sierra Squad moves back a few stones until they reach an outlying patrol. It's a group of one SBD, two assault battle droids with their missile launchers and three battle droids. It's the smallest and not the most lethal group that's still relatively close to the facility so you don't have to sneak any further back into the canyon for safer squads to take out.

>How do you, as a team, take them out without grabbing attention from any nearby patrols and still capture one battle droid functional and disarmed?
>>
>>37681616
Niiiiiiiiiiice haha
>>
>>37681636
Do SBDs have ion resistance or no? Because the SBD would be the best droid to grab (but the hardest to actually capture), the assault droids would be the most destructive and would draw a ton of attention, but the regular droids would be easiest... huh... Are SBDs ion resistant?
>>
>>37681636
Except for the part where we need a functional clanker this oughta be textbook. Sniper attachments. Mute and Ones take the shots on SBDs to deal with those

You and Joker take out the regular droids Joker tackling the last one. He ought to have an idea how to silence it while he hacks it.

Can't risk an ion nailing the entire lot this time around. Hope we're good at this...
>>
>>37681636
Alright, damn this is a hard one.

Obviously the SBD and the Assault droids must go down first if we engage them...

I'd rather throw a rock to one of them and hide to try to make him go apart from the squad, then ion grenade the fuck out of the rest.
>>
>>37681636
Ion bolt the SBD and Joker goes to hack it. Ones and Mute take a Assault BD each with Vibroblades. Chief as the CQB specialist takes the other three with his vibroblades.
>>
>>37681705
>Are SBDs ion resistant?

No, they've been taken out by Ion grenades and Ion rounds alike before.
>>
>>37681715
We should keep an assault droid alive, they have explosive munitions and as such will make a HELL of a distraction if they suddenly ""malfunction""
>>
are ion rounds/grenades loud? are there any other groups of hostiles within earshot?
>>
Right we got our game plan but we're divided on target gonna take it off whiskey. Who we bagging gents remember the harder it is the better the bang (But higher the DC likely)

>SBD
>Assault Droid
>Standard Battle Droid
>>
>>37681773
If we get an assault one the explosion will also make it just as if the "blow something from the distance to distract them". It will draw the droids we had passed back to the door
>>
>>37681815
Grenades are always loud, Ion rounds are somewhat loud, but certainly not as loud as regular blaster rounds.

There are currently no group of hostiles close to you, but that can change soon.
>>
>>37681843
Sooo by that logic we want to use ion rounds and sniper shots. Snipers quiet right?
>>
>>37681922
even louder than regular shots we have no silencers
>>
>>37681922
It's not that they're silent, it's that there's ussually no witnesses alive left to hear them.
>>

A majority needs to agree on which droid to try and hack and what droids you want to take out and how so.

I'll give you a few more minutes as I made it somewhat difficult for you guys.
>>
>>37681984
let's go for the super battle droid.
>>
>>37681843

right. ion rounds only it is. everybody switch to sniper mode and attack them from 4 different angles. SBD's are the only droids that don't rely on the Droid Control Central (or whatever it was called, I'm talking about when they all shut down during that movie that doesn't exist) and makes its own decisions. probably the easiest to hack.
>>
>>37681984
Assault. Max possible collateral and still easy enough to take on.

SBD would be fucking nightmare. they're hell strong durable and can survive with multiple parts taken off and steal fight.

the mooks ain't even worth it if we want a distraction beyond making him dance like a chicken.

>>37682032
Actually wait thats a fair point. can we even hack a regular droid if they're run from a central server? SBD might be the only option in that case... fluff checks/QM call?
>>
>>37680723
Every chaos god has a sacred number. 8 is Khorne's.
>>
>>37681984
Yeah I wanna go for the super battle droid
>>
>>37682080
They aren't run from a central server, they stopped doing it after it was proven to be a hillariously bad idea.
>>
>>37682032
Yeah uhm, they no longer shut down if the control center goes boom, they've given them a bit more of independence after Naboo. But I'm seconding your plan.
>>
>>37682115
I guess after the clusterfuck that was naboo they would do that huh.
>>
>>37681984
Lets isolate a super battle droid and literally disarm him before we hack it. We can isolate it with a distraction. Oh! and then it can "escort"us to the cell block after joker reattaches it's limbs.
>>
>>37682156
that would make it useless to us, besides, if its coding is compromised it might show an error message somewhere and cause problems.
>>
>>37682156
Oh hell naw we're just using this to draw attention be it by acting retarded or randomly shooting his fellow droid. after that we sneak in and go find a damn jedi pair.
>>
>>37682127

you're right, they apparently changed that. still, fluff does state that B2's have higher capacity for independent function than B1's by default. which means we can program an SBD to do more hilarious things than a standard-issue droid.

After presenting the tactical plan you deviced through a simulation on your HUD to your squad, they all get into positions behind the rock. Joker has entered a sprinter stance, focusing solely on the SBD while the rest of the squad attach the Ion barrels and clips onto your rifles. This will have to be done quickly, precisely and without a single miss. A split-second wasted could mean that any of them has a chance to start shooting back, causing loud enough commotion to pull even more unwanted attention. With Ones down on one knee, you standing behind him and Mute on the other side of the stone, next to a fully ready Joker, you give the command for operation "Hacking" to start.

"Mark.", and three Ion rounds fly off, hitting a droid each and before they hit the dust, another barrage of Ion rounds have been unleashed, destroying the last two. In this time, Joker has leapt forward and sprinted straight up to the SBD who were trying to find a target to start shooting at. He tackles the droid right in the chest, sending it to the ground. Before the droid can fire with its wrist-mounted blaster, Joker stabs his vibroblade into it, destroying the blaster. He immediately gets to work while the rest of you secure the perimeter, drag the destroyed droids off to the side to hide them, and then you keep a watch out for any incoming droid patrols.

"How's it going, Joker?", you ask over the comm, to which he responds with a short grunt, "I just need to patch this into that and if I activate it now I should--", and suddenly the SBD forces Joker off and rises from the ground. Mute immediately trains his rifle at it, but Joker holds out his hand in a sign of pause, "No, I succeeded. Alright, Chief; What do you want this clanker to do for us?"

"Give it orders to warn the patrols close to the facility that a strike team of Jedi are incoming and they need every droid around to form a defensive line.", You order Joker before you return to checking the perimeter for any incoming patrols. Time passes by and every time you throw a glance back at the subdued SBD, Joker is still working at it. You never learned much regarding engineering or slicing, so you can't make assumptions on when he'll be done or how long it should take. Then after a couple of minutes, Joker backs away from the SBD.

"I'm done, Chief.", he calls out quite proudly and right then the SBD marches off towards the core ship and the facility structure next to it. Sierra squad follows suit by sneaking from stone to stone like before. You watch as the SBD warns the patrols and the area soon clears up a lot more than how it was before. You and your team takes this chance and rushes off towards the building. The door is locked, so you kick it open quite easily, only to find a lightsaber directed to your throat. A young woman who looks extremely exhausted is holding it. However, when she sees who you are she launches herself in to hug you. You and your squad moves into the building and closes the door a bit after entering. Yna Ti is still hugging you and she's shaking in your embrace. She must have been afraid. "Lucky.", you hear Joker off on the side.

"So you must be Sierra Squad.", you all hear a man's voice coming from the corner of the room you're in. There sits a wounded Jedi master, holding onto his side where he has a cut most likely done by a blade of some sort.

You have found Yna Ti and Zen Malcov.

"Get General Malcov up.", you call out your order and Mute and Ones march over to the Jedi master and pulls him up, letting him support himself on their shoulders. Yna is still holding onto you tightly. You have no idea what to do in a situation like this. Just force her right off? Let her hang on? No, both of those options could end with complications. The Jedi commander is obviously in a state of great distress right now and rejection will only deepen it, but she can't hang onto you when droids are most certainly on their way back by now. You can't run while carrying her. So, you resort to a few light pats on her head to try and calm her down before you slowly pull her arms off of you and hand her over to Joker.

"Advisor, do you copy? We have secured the general and the commander. Requesting immediate evac, on the double.", and he returns with a short "Copy that, Four-five." before you focus on the task at hand. The general seems to be clutching to his side, wounded no doubt, and Yna is holding onto Joker now, who seems to be enjoying the attention, even if it's the wrong kind of attention for a clone. In either case, you need to get these VIP's out of here quickly. With your men busy doing their duty, you move past them and with a strong kick you break the backdoor right open. There's only two battle droids right outside and with two Ion rounds, you've wasted them both.

"Sierra, form up on me! Evac's LZ is just around the corner.", and your squad pulls out from the building and follows you in tow as you advance forward towards another entrance into the twisting canyon. Along the way you face a couple of battle droids, but nothing you can't handle with some precise shooting with your Ion attachment. They're dropping like flies.

CONT.

Then, out of the blue, a gunship comes flying in hot and lands a couple of clicks in front of the squad. You help Mute and Ones to get the general onboard and Joker tags along, still holding onto Yna who refuses to let go of Joker.

"Greenlight, pilot!", and the gunship takes off from your words and flies off in the general direction of commands HQ. ETA Five minutes.

"General Malcov, what was the primary objective of your mission?", you inquire, and the Jedi master throws you a skeptical look. He stares you down, even from where he sits, strapped onto the seat of the gunship. You can already tell that he doesn't trust you, or clones in general. True, you were a new addition to the Republic, but should he really feel such cautious feelings towards the soldiers helping and serving the same galactic power that he is? Each to his own, you suppose.

"That is none of your concern, clone.", he responds with a neutral and collected tone. You figured as much.

"That wound.", and Zen's eyes shift downwards towards the cut where you applied some bacta after the gunship took off, "Was it caused by an armoured and cybernetically enhanced woman with a cortis blade by chance?", the question sounds odd, but if it's true then it means she's still on the planet, causing havoc for the Republic. Zen perks up at your question, but soon returns to his cautioned state. There's a pause between you before he sighs in defeat.

"Yes, but it wasn't just one. There was three of them, all dressed in very advanced armour suits and they each carried black metallic blades. I tried to duel them, but my lightsaber shut down when I went in to parry one of their attacks. I was cut down and they took my datapad and knocked my padawan out cold. Why they spared us, I don't know."

CONT.
>>
HUEHUEHUE will occur some other time.
>>
>>37685382
"What was on that datapad?", you press on, but even now you know it's futile, so you quickly change the question instead, "Never mind, was one of the armoured figures limping or not using it's left leg as much as the other two?" - Zen nods solemnly and the rest of the journey back to Command's HQ was a quiet one. The person you fought down in the Seperatis hangar had only been one out three. What are they? Who are they? What are they after? For once you couldn't keep your questions in check as they swirled around in your head, disturbing your cold focus until the gunship landed back in HQ.

While Zen was escorted away for briefing and medical care, Yna finally let go of Joker and thanked him. When she walked off to check her master, she looked back at Joker one last time before she disappeared around the corner. Joker, filled with glee, gave you a thumbs-up. Before you could voice your disapproving notion of his apparent affection to one of your commanders, Advisor suddenly jogged up to you and your squad.

"What did you do over there?", he asks, looking quite happy.

"What do you mean?", you ask, confused from both his question and mood.

"Our eyes-in-the-sky scouts reported that a whole lot of droids have started to form up in large platoons in different sections around the last of the seperatist core ships, leaving several flanks for our cannons to get in close and destroy it. Not only that, but Command's intelligence also picked up massive strange readings from the core ship. Apparently something or someone have caused a major malfunctioning in the core system of the seperatist ship; That thing won't be flying any time soon."

And then it hits you like a ton of durasteel pieces; Both you, Ones and Mute all look over at Joker.

"I couldn't help it, alright?"

---

And here's where we'll end it tonight. Thanks for playing guys!
