You are Sir Aldrich Brickvelt, Knight errant and humble crusader, and you have been transported, by what you do not know, to the far future and a place called 'New York'.

You have found companionship and aid in a maiden, scholar Lisa DeRetti, and a captured saracen warrior that you hope to question, hopefully finding a clue as to your transportation to this Strang world.

But first you must rest in Lisa's humble abode...

upon further reasearch it is possible to have a coat of plates(not exactly plate armor but plated this would be brand new tech at the time of your death)it would just be brand new tech and not exactly shining(covered in cloth) and may explain why we only have the mace and shield. as the rest of your cash went into the new fangled armor

also the idea that he thinks of it as plate armor due to not having anything to compare it to

just a suggestion your quest not mine and I know you prewrote a bunch of stuff to make this fun(incomplete historical accuracy isn't destroy my enjoying the quest)

in any case I like this quest so far continue to be awesome

You stroll onto the thoroughfare, following lady Lisa with the unconscious arab over your shoulder. You survey your surroundings, "It may be that I have been flung far from my own days, but surely the law of the land looks upon a trussed man borne unwillingly with a condescending eye? Even if he is a heathen. Will we not be accosted?" you query. Lisa sighs, "I'm going to have to have a talk with you about modern etiquette. And if we are stopped by the police let me do the talking, but if they question you just say that you are escorting you're drunken freind home from a costume party. We tied him up after he became violent." She says, continuing her walk with a quickened pace.

You continue onwards, walking underneath giant buildings, spires and towers and Citadels miles high, seemingly impossible in length. And yet you feel somewhat at home, as if you were meant to be here, at this time.

You follow Lisa as silently as possible, aware that any off comment may bring suspension and distrust amoungst the natives, into a grey spire, into a glimmering room, lined with bizarre trinkets and eldritch contraptions of all kinds. She whistles at you, and you realize that you have been simply circling the room, browsing the various objects and the attendants or servants have been watching you nervously.

She ushers you into another metal portal and pushes a glassy run. Which immediately glows yellowish.

The box shakes and you lash out, grabbing onto a square railing running along the wall, "By God! What is this machination?" You shout, thankfuling not stirring the arab. "Relax," Lisa says, putting a reassuring hand on your free arm, "It's just an elevator, it's a steel box suspended on strong steel ropes that pull us upwards to higher levels of the building." Her explanation is brief but sufficient, so you place your trust in her trust of the "elevator". The twin doors of the machine slide open, revealing a plain white hallway, sharing none of the splendor of the world you've seen so far. Lisa bustles down the hall way toward a door emblazoned with the numerals 942. She fiddles in her satchel and produces a keyring, inserting it into the door and unlocking it.

You don't know what to make of the room inside, since you don't have any preconceptions on what such a room should look like. There are bookshelves everywhere, with booms lining the walls in the shelves and in neat piles here and there. There a elongated chair of some kind cushioned chair facing a long piece of black glass.

Lisa shuts the door behind you, "You can lay him down on the sofa," pointing to the brown chair thing, "I'm going to change out of my work clothes, the bathroom is in there, you can relieve yourself and wash, the kitchen is this area over there, there's some food in the fridge, the big white box with the doors, uhm...think that's it, I'll be right back." You feel and hear Nature's call deep in your bowels. 'Bath room' it is. You enter the room that Lisa pointed out and you immediately see why it's called a bathroom. At the end of the room you see a white basin surrounded by a strange cloth suspended by a metal loop thay connects to other Strange protuberances and pipes.

You can wash after you relieve yourself. You don't see a chamber pot or bucket near, nor do you smell one. You decide to inspect the the smaller basin that is reminiscent of a throne with a lid of some sort for a seat. It is filled with crystal clear water that you would have washed your face with but you remind yourself that this is where the modern man relieves himself. You decide to not trust the basin until you inspect the other wider but smaller one in wall, with what appears to be a spigot of some kind.

You decide to inspect the basin with the spigots a little more. You turn one of the spigots slowly...and water comes pouring! Fascinating! As cold and crisp as a winter morning no less! You suddenly think on the millions of ways such an act could be performed but you decide that any mechanism you will observe will most likely be beyond your immediate deduction, so you do not dwell on it for too long. You turn the spigot in the other direction and the deluge ceases. You try a go at the other spigot and interestingly enough hot water flows out. This is truly unique, but this basin does not seam to be an efficient waste repository.

You decide to inspect the chair-like basin. There is a silver lever on the side and you pull up on it. No noticeable result. You push down on it, which earns you a roaring sound that makes you jump and hit your side on the basin with the spigots. You do notice that water within the basin has rushed out, flowing down the wide mouth of the basin. you try to think of a reason for such a mechanism and the only one you can think of is to evacuate excrement! Now how to use such a device? The only logical action is to squat over it with your feet on the wide rim of the bowl.

You disrobe, struggling slightly with the metal teeth of the blue linen trousers, and take position and proceed with your business.

The letters of the tome are only slightly confusing but you manage to read the prologue. The book sparsley details the early explorers that helped find a giant landmass to the...west? Beyond the Atlantic ocean....beyond everything... You are recovered from your shock when the author adds that early Scandinavian peoples where the first to discover the new world. You chuckle to yourself, you don't know what you would do if those swarthy bastards beat your people you to it.

There's the archive if you want to catch up. I'm painfully slow so you won't miss much.
>>
>>37640835
No, the queen is in charge.
>>
>>37640835
Currently its the queen. There is precedent for that and its not nearly as big a deal as you'd think.

That and shes too big a political and cultural figure to mock.

Both England and France were allied during this time I think. Its very likely there was interaction between both groups. Hell, Richard the Lionheart spent all of eight months in england and didn't even speak the English language.
>>
>>37640952
Lisa said that we were English.

We were speaking french in the beginning because the upper nobles and royalty spoke nothing but french for a huge amount of time, and we assumed that the healthy and well fed people of NYC were obviously nobles or wealthy merchants of some sort.
>>
>>37640952
We just speak the language.

America. A land across the sea...so the Norse men where the first to find it, establishing trade with the strange northern natives, although these trade routes are oft forgotten and shrouded in myth. Then an after an expedition by an Italian merchant and explorer Christopher Colombus funded by the Spanish crown the modern Europe of then finally discovers what will become America. The timeline advances with the Spanish exploitation of the new world. You continue reading the book as you head to the kitchen area.

You take note of your hunger setting down the book on the counter. The white Frydge has two doors, like a stable, and is made of the same underterminable material thay is stored common in this future, that is neither wood nor stone nor metal.

have to say you don't have to go to this level of minuuttia especially on quests. you have a slow rate of writing we can accept glossing over minor details of what order we opened the fridge doors in

What >>37646890 said, you have the right to take liberties, maximize the interest in the quest, and even railroad a little bit to speed it up and keep interest in it all.

I don't think that's a good idea we have enough kids playing Magic like a bunch of cocks already
>>
Sorry I'm boarding a train. Tomorrow I don't have ANYTHING going on so I'm going to be posting a little more regularly, also I'll have a computer, so that helps

You open the bottom door, and are greeted with a chilly breeze, and a glowing phiall of light. Within the Frydge itself are several strange bottles and parcels on metal racks that you would rather not disturb without Lisa. There is a ham hock upon a plate in the center of the chamber. You take it out and plate it upon the counter next. 'If she be a jew, she is not very observant, is she?' you think to yourself. You go to rip off a chunk of ham when you hear Lisa re-enter the room. You try your hardest to stifle a chuckle when you see her: she is adorned in a modern shirt, much like yours save it is much larger and I'll suited to her smaller frame. Her pants are equally large and loose, but the way it waves suggest a very fine cloth.

You smile "You look quite well Lady DeRetti." You remark slyly. She scoffs, "It's good to see that you haven't left your humour in the dark ages." Dark ages? "Excus-" you start. "Nevermind that. just an expression. What have you got there?" She says pointing to the book. "Ah, yes! I've been reading about the 'New World!' quite fascinating. I was slightly perturbed that EspaƱa had conquered the new world first, but the prologue did allude to a grand English empire thay had major Holding within America." She looks worriedly then just says, "I'll give you a quick history lesson tomorrow, I see your settling in well, what happened in the bathroom, I heard the toilet flush." You nod enthused, "Ah, not to worry m'lady I have already intuited the usage of thy 'bath room' and it's various basins." You proclaim proudly. She bites her lip, "Oh...okay...let me just take a look..." She goes to enter the bathroom, opens the door, looks at the taller basin, and shuts the door. "We need to have a talk about restroom ediquet."

This might be it for me tonight. My phone is dying. Tomorrow the thread will definitely be earlier and a little quicker. Today was just crazy as hell and probably not the best time to run a quest. Sorry for all the bullshit and inconvenience. Follow the twitter for updates!

thanks for the thread, do you want us to keep this one alive or will you make a new one tomorrow? if you do make a new one remember to link it in twitter when it starts
>>

Nah. Let it die. By the time I get to homebase I'll be to tired to run it properly. I'll post on the twitter two hours ahead of when I expect to run it.
