You are ANDR[u]-113, an insane and sentient robot in an unknown galaxy, your story begins here:

You methodically cut through a panel of the wall, exposing the inner parts of the ship. You stand aside as two NDR units lift a large circuit breaker into place, and quickly set to working securing it. With the help of the 8 NDR units, you’ve quickly and easily upgraded the Lunar Apogee’s electrical system to withstand the additional power of the reactors.

A bulking up of surge protectors, along with additional capacitors and relays should allow you to take full advantage of the power the reactors provide. You take a moment to examine your work as the NDR bots finish working. Patching up holes, repairing deteriorating circuits, replacing old wiring, installing the last relay into the system.

You feel a mix of satisfaction and worry as the upgrades are completed. On one hand, you feel like life is breathing into the ship, that’s its not just a scrap heap that you’re struggling to keep afloat. It feels like an actual ship, it provides you with a sense of order.
>>

>>37572476
On the other hand, you can’t believe you’ve let the ship fall into such disrepair. 330 years of neglectance can result in a wide variety of parts breaking down. You’re a bit surprised you’ve made it this far without something breaking down, but you chide yourself for it.

You start to think about all that could have gone wrong.
The life support could have stopped, your humans would have slowly suffocated.
So many things could have happened during Warp, you don’t even understand how it works completely.
You could have simply exploded, for no reason.
You could have lost power when-

“Andru, my boy! Repairs are all complete, s’hir!” Bishop gives you an over complicated salute to emphasize his point.

Bishop has been an unending stream of oddities to you. He pronounced “Sir” incorrectly, as well as referring to you as a “boy”, when you are obviously a North Dominion Repair unit. Perhaps it’s a failure in his Xeno design.

Still, he is kind, and upbeat. You can’t really imagine anything harmful arising from his oddities.
“Thank you Bishop”, you say with a nod, “Then it is time to bring the reactors back online”.

You start heading off to the Reactor room, the line of NDR units following behind, their hands full of heavy equipment and spare parts.

The resounding thud of marching boots feels like a pulse of your own heart, everything is so alive, space seems so less empty.

Marching pass the reactor, and heading into the industrial you find the Reactor fuel where you left it. Four of the NDR units easily lift up the precious black crate, and return to the reactor room.

If you were a human, you’d have to worry about radiation and cancer, but you’re a machine, so you open the crate without worry. Inside the crate is a stack of one and a half meter thorium fuel rods. You count 16 in total, and to your surprise, find more thorium rods of varying size.
>>
>>37572530
You see 4 fuel rods which could fit into a micro reactor, and 20 fuel rods which could fit in a nanoreactor. Overall, they take up less space than one reactor sized rod.

Your crew approach the silent reactor, Bishop types in several quick commands into a nearby terminal. With a his, the thick lead door on top of the reactor opens on hydraulics. As Bishop continues to type in commands, a set of 12 fuel rods raise out of the reactor, 12 in total. You can see from your distance that 10 out of the 12 are spent.

“Cutting it a little close, aren’t we my boy?” Bishop calls out from the terminal.
“You have no idea”, you say rather curtly.

Using a small staircase by the side of the medium reactor, the NDR units quickly remove the spent fuel rods with machine precision, and just as quickly insert the new fuel rods. The spent rods are placed neatly into a yellow crate marked with radiation warnings, which was brought in by two of your NDR units.

It’s over in several moments, and as Bishop types in more commands into the terminal, the fuel rods are lowered back into the reactor, with the massive doors sealing them in.

The ship’s computer automatically reports your power usage when the medium reactor is brought back online.

//Report_Power:
/Reactor: 100% 190 Power Units

“Jolly good!” Bishop says, clapping you on the back. You might consider that oddity rather rude.
>>
>>37572563
Uh, should we be voting now?
I assumed from the lack of a prompt that you're still writing.
>>
>>37572563

Though you have nothing to fear from the radiation itself , it can be harmful to those around you if you don’t decontaminate yourself. You and the other NDR units march off to the decontamination room, located in the industrial section of the ship. Originally designed for human use incase there is an accident with chemicals or the reactors, you don’t think anyone would mind if the robots use it for once.
The white room contains a set of doors with UV lights, for biological cleaning. You and the NDR units walk past that, and head over the a wall of shower heads. You turn the old metal handle, unleashing a stream of water and cleaning solutions.

As the cleansing liquid flows over your metalic body, you reflect on the last several hours.
You ran into the wall, your boots thudding quickly along the ground. You heard a great roar break through the ship, something primal, but mechanical as well. It gave more speed to your flight.

When you’ve arrived at the bridge, and pass through the doorway missing the door, you’re both confused and worried.

Cassandra a collapsed heap. A panel at the back of her head is torn open, a fist full of wires ripped out.

The Ape sits in the chair, unharmed, but still unresponsive.

NDR-105 is nothing more than scrap. You can’t tell a leg from an arm, a synthetic muscle from cerebral wiring.

Standing out from the entire scene, is the massive NDL-74, back straight, optics facing you, “Awaiting further tasks”, the giant said obediently.

You feel a cold creep down your nonexistent spine. Something about NDL was wrong. You just don’t know how to form it into words.

It took less than 15 minutes for the NDR units to repair the bridge door, remove the scrap that was NDR-105, and have Cassandra back on her feet, just as talkative as always.
>>
>>37572780
You feel that same wrongness, seeing Cassandra back from the dead, as if nothing is different.

“Problem, s’hir? Much to do about the ol’ boat”.

“Hm? Yes, I was just thinking. Much to do indeed”.

What shall you do?

You’re the last one to emerge from the showers, the NDR units stand passively in a loose line.
“Alright, uh, that’s it for now. Dismissed”.
The line of robots stare at you with blank faces. Right, robots don’t need free time.
“Maintain ship integrity until further notice”.
The NDR units quickly file out, most head to roam the halls to check for parts that needed to be repaired.

The only one left with you is Bishop, “Excuse me, my boy. Do you think it’s possible for me to accompany you for a moment? “.

The modified robot seems a bit uncertain, perhaps he has some question for you. You don’t say anything, but simply nod, and then head off to the bridge.

The two of you walk in silence for a moment, it’s peaceful, you suppose.
“s’hir, I’ve been reviewing the ships log. Quite the adventure, if I do say so myself”

, Bishop gives a hearty chuckle. but gives a cough when you don’t join in, “Yes, erhm, as you are aware, I have a vast memory bank, which has been filled with all the data that remains of Earth. Or so I am aware. Anyways, S’hir, I’d like very much to companion you on your next foray into the so called Trade Hub 7. I’d simply like to observe the life we’d encounter”.

With a sharp salute, Bishop is off before you can even give a decision. What a peculiar machine.
Perhaps you will bring him, you’re not even sure if you’ll make another trip onto Trade Hub 7.

You shake your head, for now you have more pressing matters to attend to. You connect over radio to the giant NDL. “NDL-74, please meet me at the bridge”.

All you get is a click over the radio, a sign of confirmation. Perhaps the ship is more alive, but that means there are only more matters to attend to, you think bitterly.

When you arrive on the bridge, you have to wait for several moments as the doors precariously open . NDL-74 is already there, standing to the side of the door.
>>
>>37573699
You give the machine a nod, “NDL-74, please give me a full report of what has transpired during your fight with NDR-105”.

The massive machine wastes no time.
“The doors to the bridge were barred. This unit applied force to gain entry. Upon entry, it was observed that NDR-105 [rogue] was attempting to Warp the Lunar Apogee. NDHWB-41 was found incapacitated. While the Pan troglodytes was found incoherent”.

As NDL gives its report, you kneel down to the Ape, checking for anything wrong. The gash which Cassandra stitched up and bandaged seems to be fine, as you peel back one of the Apes eyelids, you see his eyes are groggy, and somewhat bloodshot.

You can’t really do anything else to discern his health, but you do find it worrisome that the Ape slept through a fight between two robotic humanoids.

“I destroyed NDR-105 in order to secure the safety of the ship, the Humans, and ANDR[u]-113. End report”.

You get back on your feet, eyeing NDL-74. You note that it started its report referring to itself as “This unit” and ended the report by referring to itself as “I” . You take that as worrisome, but perhaps a good thing. It is possibly NDL-74 is becoming aware, though it might be bad, considering your own mental state.

Your other point of concern, the Ape, is just as uncertain a problem. You don’t know much about biological life, but the Ape has been unconscious for too long. You assumed that Cassandra administered some sort of painkiller, perhaps that could be contributing to his prolonged unconsciousness.

You believe the best option would be to bring the Ape to the NDS bots, they would find out what is wrong with him. You could always bring him back to Cassandra, but that might not be best.

You also should probably say something to NDL-74, but that could possibly wait.

What shall you do?

>>
>>37573749
You contemplate on what to do, but you are no expert on Chimpanzee anatomy, so you decide it’s best to take it to your residential scientist.

“Thank you for your report, NDL. We’ll have to talk about it in more detail later. For now, help me bring this Chimp to the Medbay.

Wordlessly, the giant picks up the Ape, carrying him as if he weighed no more than a doll. The two of you walk briskly through the white walls of the ship, passing several of the NDR units surveying the halls.

They don’t acknowledge you, but simply cast their eyes over the walls, looking for any sign of weakness.

When you arrive at the Medbay, you see that all sorts of machines seem to be running. the NDS bots run frantically from machine to machine, typing in several commands before going to the next.

You and NDL stand for several minutes simply watching the torrent of activity. When it is obvious that the NDS machines won’t notice you anytime soon, you call out, “Hello?”

The single optics of the NDS units only look up for a moment before returning to their work.
“Ah! Hello ANDR[u]-113, greetings NDL-74! NDS-12 and myself have been very busy since you’ve been so kind as to allot us more power.”

“Indeed! These bacteria cultures are quite strange! Some are native to Earth, some are completely alien, and others are hybrids!”

“Yes! We’ve had a hands full with trying to unlock the medical uses of these new strains of bacteria”

As NDS-4 talks, he opens a centrifuge, quickly removing the dozen or so vials of clear liquid inside. With another dropper of liquid, NDS-4 adds a drop to each vial. One turned red, one yellow, two turned blue, and the rest remained clear.

“Fascinating!” It exclaims, methodically placing the vials on a rack, then inserting more into the centrifuge.
>>
>>37574882
The two NDS units stop their hurried work, and looked up to you. Without faces it’s hard to tell, but you suspect they are excited.

“Did you say Chimpanzee?”
“How wonderful! We could use something to test all these medicines on!”
“Chimpanzees are rather similar to humans in a sense, perhaps we could-”

You cough to interrupt the two before things get too out of hand.
“He is biologically modified, and sentient”.

“Oh”, the two NDS units say in unison, moving over to a medical bed, motioning for NDL to place him down there.

NDS-12 takes out a large large syringe from a nearby drawer, “May I?”

“You are the scientist, not I”, you say, waving a hand dismissively.

“What strange exterior modification”, NDS-4 comments as the needle is plunged into the Chimps arm, withdrawing rich, red liquid.

As NDS-4 takes the syringe of blood over to a bank of machinery, NDS-12 tapes on several wires onto the Ape, around its skull, neck, chest, and arms.

The machine the wires are connected to quickly come to live, with several graphs displayed. One you recognize as a heartbeat monitor, though the others are lost on you.

“His pulse seems rather quickened, though we can’t tell if it’s from the state he is in, or just how he naturally is” . NDS-12 says, pointing to the heartbeat monitor.

You wait several moments, NDL standing indifferent to the side, while you eye the Chimp with a form of worry.

NDS-12 continues to use several instruments to examine the health of the Chimp, even tapping at the wires which seem to run along its skin.

“Ah!” You hear NDS-4 exclaim, the metal scientist running back to the gathering.
“Was he given any drugs before you brought him here?” The tone of the NDS unit giving the question a magnitude of importance.

“Yes, Cassandra gave the Chimp a shot of painkillers before stitching up the wound”.

“That…. That explains several things”. NDS-4 runs over to some nearby machines, talking the whole time.

“As you all know, NDHWB units come with simple first aid, including several different medicines which they can distribute. Simple painkillers, antibiotics, and so forth. Well, we’ve been offline for almost 350 years, and I can guarantee that any medicine the NDHWB units carry is expired.

Expired medicine mainly loses its potency, and it not directly linked to toxicity, however no one has taken a 350 year old drug”.

NDS-4 makes its way back towards you and the medical bed, this time wielding a much larger syringe, full of a dark green liquid.

“Though the reason is unclear as of now, the Chimpanzee is having an allergic reaction of sorts to the painkillers. Perhaps it’s because this Chimpanzee was modified by Xenos, perhaps because it picked up some strange alien viruses, or perhaps 350 year old painkillers are bad for organics.

The reasons are unclear, but something must be done.” To emphasize its point, NDS-4 brandished about the large syringe.

“This is solution was quickly created using a mix of hybrid bacteria, it should negate the reaction the Chimpanzee is having. Be careful though, we do not know the exact properties of the bacteria that was used to create the solution”.

“How can you not know anything about these drugs you’ve been working on?” You ask, your voice rising in a bit of frustration and anger.

The two NDS units share a glance before responding.
“We have been activated for less than 24 hours, ANDR[u]-113”.

“Ah”. It seems you’ve lost track of time. Things seem to be progressing at accelerated speeds for you.
>>
>>37574966

“If you do not wish to take the risk, you could always find a doctor on Trade Hub7. Presuming that this Chimpanzee has lived on Trade Hub 7, it’s a safe assumption to say that there must be a doctor which can treat him

If not, I suggest we use the experimental solution. The reaction is along all of his veins, brain, and heart. If not treated it could be fatal”.

Things have been progressing very quickly indeed.
Not only have you destroyed the bar which belongs to this Ape, but you’ve given him a life threatening drug.

Why must organics be so easy to kill?

Finding the doctor on Trade Hub 7 might be easy, or it might be hard. There is no telling. The same goes for the experimental solution, though the NDS units seem confident in their abilities, you can’t help but question a medical solution which is made with hybrid Xeno-Terran bacteria.

You drum your fingers against the metal railing of the medical bed.
“Give him the shot” .

NDS-4 moves over to the side of the Chimp, and with mechanical precision inserts the needle into the crook of his arm below the bicep.

Almost hungrily, the green liquid is absorbed into the body. You wait for several moments, continueing to drum your fingers.

Suddenly a fit of coughing rakes the Chimps body. His eyes still remain shut, but the deep, heavy coughs assault the silence of the room.

After several minutes of coughing, and shared worried looks, the Chimp coughs up a dark green liquid,

“Not good” NDS-12 says, as he rushes over to the Ape. The NDS unit’s hand splits into several different instruments, some poke in the veins of the poor creature, while others lay against the skin, perhaps providing more medical information.

“His lungs are filling, he might drown”.

NDS-4 wheels over a large machine, handing a long tube from the machine to NDS-12. One longer optic fiber detaches itself from from the splayed hand of NDS-12, snaking its way into the mouth of the Ape, after several moments, NDS-12 inserts the plastic tube down the Terran’s mouth. With a flip, the machine starts whining, and the same dark green liquid starts to be sucked up through the plastic tube.

The coughing stops at this point, but you can see that angry blue veins cover the Ape. Appearing out of nowhere.

You can’t do anything but watch as the NDS units struggle to keep the Ape alive.

“His heart just stopped!” NDS-12 yells with its synthesized voice.

NDS-4 sprints over from the machine, placing both hands on the chest of the Ape, a high pitch whine fills the room, as charge builds in up in the robots hands. Then a loud thud, as the volts are released into the Apes body.
>>
>>37575851

A small beeping returns to the room, something you didn’t realize was missing. The heartbeat monitor shows a panicked pattern as it traces the heartbeat of the Chimpanzee. Each time a heartbeat is complete, the machine gives a cheerful beep.

“ANDRU! You have to hurry, we can’t keep him alive for long! Either find a doctor, or get us one of those three syringes. One of those solutions might save him! Or might kill him! We don’t know!”.

You turn towards a rack of syringes across the room that has three syringes, one yellow, one orange, one blue.

Without a moments thought, you start sprinting towards the syringes.

Which one should you take? NDS-4 said any of them could kill or save the Chimp. You could run for a Xeno doctor, but you’re not sure how long that would take, or even how long you have.

You note that NDL-74 didn’t follow you to the syringes, instead the giant stares intensely at the dying Chimp.

Blue.
You’ve always liked blue.
Earth is blue.

You snatch up the blue syringe. You don’t know how else to pick which one to use.
When you get to the Chimp, he has convulsions, his limbs moving about all over in a sporatic manner.

NDS-4 is struggling to hold the poor creature down, while NDS-12 continues to use its instruments on the Ape.

“ANDRU! Give him the shot, we’re losing him!”

You can’t find a steady enough body part, each time you line the shot up with his bicep, the Chimp broke the grip of NDS-4.

With growing dread and panic, you’re about to stab the Chimp blindly with the needle.

Without word, NDL walked over to the side of the Chimp, and with steady, gentle hands, holds down the arm of the Chimp.

You would thank the giant, but you’re too distracted by the dying Chimp to say anything.

With a grunt, you plunge the needle into the Chimp.
The metal slide through the skin effortlessly.
The blue liquid is forced in by the syringe, cooly entering the body.

Blue.
You’ve always liked blue.
Earth is blue.

Not even in half a second, the convulsions stop. You stand back, watching the Ape carefully.

The first thing you notice is the blue. You can see it spreading quickly through the Ape, from where you injected it flowed through the Chimps veins, taking only a few seconds to cover his entire body.

Without a cough, without a cry, the Chimp suddenly died.
The heartbeat monitor giving a high pitched whine, filling the silence of the room.

NDS-4 placed its hands on the chest of the Chimpanzee, sending one surge of power through its body. Then another. And another.

Mechanically, without emotion. Solemnly, NDL-74 placed a hand on the shoulder of NDS-4, using gentle force to pull the machine away from the dead Chimpanzee.
>>
>>37576966
After several moments, NDS-4 shrugs off the hand of NDL-74, and moves over to the machine with the tube inside the Chimpanzee, flipping several switches to turn it off.

As NDS-4 turned off the machine, NDS-12 removes the plastic tube from its lungs. Its hands slowly folding up into itself, the many scientific and medical tools returning into simple hands.

NDS-4 was to first to speak. “Time of death, April 23rd, Wednesday, 2431, 13:03:52”

You stand there, not really sure of what to make of the moment.

In less than 12 hours, you’ve met this Chimpanzee, started a bar fight which resulted in his injury, destruction of his livelihood, given him 350 year old drugs, and eventually killed him.

You don’t even know his name.

A small beep fills the room, the heartbeat monitor no longer emitting a high pitched whining.

“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH”

The Chimpanzee bolts upright, first screaming at nothing, then seeing you and the rest of the machines, his screaming intensified, first screaming at you, then NDL, then alternating between the two NDS units.

“WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON! OH FUCKING, FUCK”.

The Chimpanzee ripped the wires tapped to its skin off, feeling around his stomach “FUCK! I better have all my damned organs. FUCK!”

“WHY THE FUCK AM I SO BLUE?” He says suddenly noticing that his skin is somewhat bluer, examining first one arm, then the other. While the blue veins seemed to have vanished, his skin is more blue than it was when you first met him.

It’s a subtly that you failed to notice.
>>
>>37577009
“You’re alive?” You says quizzically

“You bet your ass I’m alive, you fucker! What the hell is going on here?”
His eyes narrowed while he was speaking, or rather yelling, at you.

“Hey you’re that fucker that ruined my bar. You better speak fast, fuck nugget”.

What shall you do?

“First off, I didn’t destroy your bar, those suited Xenos did”. You’re not really ready to defend yourself verbally or physically from an Ape who has died 2 times today, and has still come back.

“Suited Xenos? You mean the Rauwept? How the fuck do you not know what a Rauwept is ?”

“Because we’re from Earth”. You state matter of factly.

The Ape stares at you for several moments, giving you an odd look.
He breaks the laughter by breaking into bombastic laughter,
“Hahaha, Earth is dead you idiots, hahahahahaha”

“Yes, we are aware of that. I saw the fall of Earth myself. This ship was once the Lunar Resource and Industrial Station. For 18 years I labored to turn it into this ship, the Lunar Apogee”.

Not the whole truth, but you don’t like giving complicated and revealing stories to strangers. Even if you’ve killed them multiple times.

“Alright, I get it, you’re a bunch of nut jobs, I’ll just leave. I ain’t ever heard of no Lunar Resource and something Station”. He says, jumping onto his feet, only for them to collapse underneath him.

You move to help him, but he waves to off. Trying once to stand up, but only to collapse again. After failing to stand, the Chimpanzee, shifted around until he was in a comfortable sitting position.

“You should strain yourself so much, you’ve died twice in the past hour”

“WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT! I’M TALKING TO YA RIGHT NOW!”

You shake your head, “Yes you are, but we’ve brought you back both times”.

The Ape shakes his head slowly, until resting his head in his hands. He mumbles a few words that your audio sensors failed to pick up

“I’m sorry?”

“I said, if you were human you’d just take off your damn helmets” The ape said weakly. Perhaps dieing and yelling can wear down a biological.

“We can’t do that, huh? Cause you’re not a fucking human?”
>>
>>37577606
You struggle a few moments to find the right words.
You’ve been told on several occasions that AI are heretical to some species, perhaps even outlawed in some places. If people were to find out you’re an AI with your own ship, they might hunt you down.

You could always just show the Ape that you have humans with you. Though, that too has an amount of risk to it.

It’s been 350 years or so since the fall of Earth, maybe the Xenos don’t care, or maybe they will hunt the humans relentlessly.

You could tell the Ape both, perhaps to be hunted down by the whole galaxy.

Something at the back of your mind speaks up though, a dark place, a different place, you could always just kill him if you think he’ll tell people.

You know, speaking of bots. I've noticed that all of them act very human.
Wonder if the way they act changed? I distinctly recall NDR-13 being very cold and robotic(from a flashback). Much more so than NDS/NDL and NDW types.
Odds are any of them can awaken to be AIs, just like NDL-74 is very close to.

I also imagine that old circuitry is causing things to change quickly, likely on accident.

“I’m not a human-”

“Yeah, that’s what I fucking thought, you damn native hippie, now get the -”

You cut off the Ape before it has time to finish talking, you know what’ll say next might have some consequences.

“I am an AI, but we do have Humans on board”.

The Ape opens its mouth, then closed it quickly. “Prove it” It says with a sneer.

You quickly connect to Bishop via radio, “Bishop, please bring the Humans and yourself to the Medbay, there is someone I’d like you to meet”.

“How rousingly exciting! Right on it, me boy!”, with that the connection is closed.

You wait for several moments, the Ape refusing to break eye contact with you. Out of the corner of your eye, you see that NDL-74 slowly unslings the massive cannon of a rifle on its back.

Everything has been going so quickly, you hadn’t even realized that the giant machine has had the rifle on him the whole time.

Come to think of it, you still have the plasma launcher slinged across your back. Though you want to take a look at the elegant weapon on your back, you’ve been drawn into a staring contest with the Chimp, and you refuse to lose.

You have to hand it to the stubborn beast, the Chimp doesn’t even spare a single glance to the towering NDL-74 and his unrealistically large rifle.

The growing tension is shattered when the metal doors open, and Bishop strides into the room, carrying in one arm the small Anna Foster, while the other hand rests on the the pistol attached to his hip.

Following behind Bishop is Marie and Ben, and following behind them is Cassandra.

The children wear the blue one piece jumpsuits that the crew of the station once wore, instead of the grey and orange space suits you found them in. You’re a bit surprised they fit the smaller children, perhaps Cassandra did some tailoring?

“Monkey!” The excited Anna Foster squealed upon seeing the Chimp.
>>
>>37579377
The Chimp opens his mouth as if to say something, but closes it with a click, his facial expression softening quickly. Weakly, he got to his feet, leaning heavily against the medical bed.

On shaking legs, the chimp performed a sort of bow, bending at the hip, while his arms started extended parallel to the ground, then did a swooping motion towards his center, where they ended crossed over his chest.

“Hello, little Miss”. After performing his bow, the chimp quickly ran its hand over its face several times, knuckling the eye socket several times.

The children seem rather taken aback by the speaking Ape, though you suppose its not the strangest site they’ve seen.

Anna’s eyes still grew to the size of dinner plates, “A talking monkey!”

The Chimp gave a deep chuckle, “I can indeed speak, my dear, and you… are a human”.

“Wow!” she says, in the slow manner when children put emphasis on their words, “My name is Anna Foster, what’s yours?”

“They call me Oppenheimer, others call me number 13”. Oppenheimer walked towards Anna and Bishop with his hand extended.

NDL-74 took 2 steps, and in no time was between Anna and Oppenheimer, one hand cradling the massive rifle while the other rested on the butt of the weapon.

The Chimp gave a dry chuckle, getting the hint from NDL. He returned back to his bed, and with some effort, lifted himself on top of it.

“This is Ben O'Brien, and Marie Hitler”, Bishop says with his rich accent, pointing at first Ben then Marie.

“For the last time Bishop, my last name isn’t Hitler! I know you know exactly who that is, so you better cut it out”.
Marie said, pointing a finger threateningly at the machine.

“Well, I don’t know who that is, but it truly, an honor to meet you” Oppenheimer said in his gravelly voice, repeating the same bow from a sitting position.

Silence fills the room as everyone has their eyes on you, except for NDL-74, whose eyes rested on Oppenheimer.
>>
>>37579415
>irish master race confirmed to survive alien invasion
>>
>>37579415
What are they waiting for? For you to give them the O.K? To let them speak? To let them… play?

You take a moment to look over Oppenheimer. He has a strange lack of hair over his body, perhaps from previous experiments. Over his body is a network of ingrained red circuitry, serving an unknown purpose. On through his head is bald, he has an amount of scraggly hair on his upper lip and ship. Between his brown eyes there seems to be tattooed a barcode.

And of course, his skin is a sort of blue/black tint, which was your doing.

Can you trust him with the humans? He seems genuinely happy to see them, but that doesn’t mean you should trust him with what you see as the most important things in the galaxy.

You could ask anyone there a question. You don’t know the full story of the children, while at the same time you don’t know the full story of Oppenheimer. You could let them simply intermingled, perhaps you could clean some information from that, or perhaps it would do either parties some good.

You could dismiss the children and interrogate Oppenheimer, or simply kick the Chimp out.

What shall you do?

Everyone has their eyes on you, except for NDL-74, whose eyes rest on Oppenheimer. Waiting for you to do.. something.

NDL-74 stands as an imposing blockade between Oppenheimer and the Humans.

The grizzly Ape seems to have soften up considerably since he’s seen the humans, though you still struggle to decide if you can trust him .

“Well… I don’t know why we’re all standing in the medbay. We have a guest after all, let’s move over to the living quarters”.

A smile splits Oppenheimer’s face as he is helped to his feet by NDS- 4, while Bishop sets down Anna onto her own feet. The little human immediately runs over to Oppenheimer, who bends low to shake the the hand of the little human.

The next several moments are of laughter and chatter as your crew makes its way back to the living quarters. Somewhere along the way the NDW and NDR units join into the large crowd, and everyone filters into the cramped living quarters.

“How old are you, Mr.Open-himer?” Anna asks as people settled into the room,

“I’m 54 years old, Miss. Anna”, the Ape says as he lowers himself into a sitting position.

“Are there more monkeys like you? “ She says as she sits down next to the apparently old Chimp.

“Oh no. There a couple other Apes out there, but I’m not really part of those groups”.

“What other groups?” You say, your audio sensors picking out a potential source of knowledge.

“Well I think there is two uplifters with Chimpanzees, while 3 groups have been uplifting Gorillas, with a varying degrees of success”.

You’re stopped from asking any more questions, as Anna bombards him with questions about spaceships, what his favorite color is, what his favorite game is.

Several decks of cards are broken out, and several groups settle into to play some games. The NDS units found a chess set, and are playing against each other at high speeds.

Each game taking less than a minute.

You’re playing black jack with Ben everyone, when you hear Cassandra ask Ben a question,
“So Ben, where on Earth are you from? Was it pretty?”

“I think it was, I lived in New York with my Da. They had this beautiful park that everyone always went to, Central Park”.

“Ha, New York, a hive of Yankee activity!” Bishop huffed from somewhere in the room.

“What did your dad do, Ben?”

“He was… a representative of Earth I think, he went to space a lot, even brought me along a couple times”.

The NDW units spent some time bringing water and simple packaged food for the organics. Nothing special, but you find it a sort of homely scene. Food, talk, and fun in abundance.

You note that since you’ve arrived in the living quarters, NDL-74 stands in the corner, rifle still in hand.
However, as the night (or day? ) progressed, the giant eventually muscled its rifle, and settled into the circle of people playing cards.

While everyone plays blackjack, the NDS units play chess, while Oppenheimer and Anna played a game of goldfish with their own deck.

Several hours pass like this, with the NDR and NDW units filing out eventually, to either tend to the gardens or to inspect the ship for repairs.

Without personalities of any types, the NDR, NDW, and NDL units can’t really socialize. NDL-74 being the exception, eventually working his way into joining Oppenheimer and Anna’s game of goldfish.

Everyone is talking about where they want to go. A star to visit, or a planet that might be interesting. Ben is talking about how Alpha Centauri is the closest star to Earth, and how he always wanted to see what the planets are like.

Even if the Uplifters couldn't have used them, the Librarians might have; I hear that an orangutan shape is Very effective for that!

Bishop is giving him a stern lecture on how following the trade routes will always provide lucrative, as proved by the fabled British Empire.

Oppenheimer brought up a counter argument on how the British ignored a lot about the places, and only focused on the goods they had.

“How do you know so much about Earth, Oppenheimer?” Anna suddenly ask in the middle of his counterexample.

“Oh, I read a data file or two about it”, the blue Chimp said with a shrug, “ I thought it was important to know something about where I’m from”.

“They have a library on Trade Hub 7?”

The Chimp handed a card over to Anna before continuing, “Sure have, but I haven’t even been there. I bought my books off the odd trader that made their way into my bar”.

“Do we think we could go to the library sometime, Andru?” Anna says, turning towards you, “I’d love to read some of the books they might have!”.

“Well, I’ve been to the library, I don’t know. They have these Serfs there, I don’t know how you might feel about them”.

You’re surprised when Oppenheimer asks you a question instead of Anna, “What are those? I’ve never heard of them”.

You were about to ask Oppenheimer about the Serfs, but it looks like he doesn’t know anything about them. That’s concerning to you, it seems like the Serfs are a secret of sorts by the Librarians.

“You haven’t? Well… Maybe I can pick up some books for you Anna”.

Do you think it's time we tell the story? I mean, Oppenheimer's going to be here for a while (we're not letting him off the ship until he can be trusted), so he deserves to know too.

You spend the rest couple hours just playing cards, continuing to talk, amongst each other.

Bishop proving the most versed in Earth history, Oppenheimer and Anna listening excitingly as he recounted historical tales of the rise of fall of human civilization.

Cassandra continues to chat with Bob and Anna about what pop stars existed before the fall of Earth.

The NDS units continue to play chess, throwing in corrections to the talks other are having.

You’d describe it as peaceful.
You’d describe is as one of the happiest moments you’ve had.
