You are Sir Aldrich Brickvelt, Knight errant and humble crusader, and you have been transported, by what you do not know, to the far future and a place called 'New York'.

You have found companionship and aid in a maiden, Lisa DeRetti, a scholar of some kind and are now near her place of study, 'The Metropolitan Museum of Art'.

What those lies withing those halls will surprise both yourself and your female companion...
>>

GOD WILLS IT!
>>
Lisa taps you shoulder, "Come on, this way." And walks to the far side of the building. You follow, the ale soiled clothes on the interior of your arumour beginning to chaffe. "Where art thou headed, m'lady, is the entrance not that way?" You ask, pointing to the face of the building. "That part is closed for the evening, we need to go through an employee entrance." You nod, "Aye, that makes sense."

The pair of you walk towards the side of the building, and walk past an abandoned guardhouse, Lisa opening the gate with a key. You reach the the door she spoke of and she produces a flat key of polished stone, "Is that what keys of this modern era look like?" She laughs, "Yes, sometimes. I'll explain later." You grin, "Indeed, you shall explain much when 'later' comes." She bits her lip again, apparently something she does when nervous or in thought, "I'm going to have to sneak you in, I think there's still some night watchmen on duty."

"What do you recommend, m'lady?" You ask. She takes a moment to evaluate her options, "You're familiar with Suits of armour, yes? At least as decorative pieces?" You eye her, you have an idea as to where this is going..."Aye, of course" She points to what looks like a wheel barrow without the barrow, "You can stand on the hand truck and I can sneak you in that way, say you're a new acquisition."

"Very well." She leads you to the hand truck with suprisingly firm hands, "Stand just like that, not a sound not a movement." You nod and she closes your visor. You are wheeled through doors upon doors, through hallways great and long, and things that can only be described as steel portals. What you can see is artworks so lifelike they almost look unreal, arms and armour from around the world and things you can't even identify. All goes well and smoothly, until..."Hey, excuse me Miss DeRetti!" Your blood freezes, and you can hear Lisa inhale sharply. "Hey, hello Ms. Deretti. What're doin' here so late? And what's this you have here?" A light catches the corner of your visor, you begin to swsweat profusely. "H-hey, nice to see you, Lou, right?" "Yes, ma'am, so what's goin' on here?" She remains remarkably calm, "Routine pre-examination and restoration of a new acquisition."

"Mind if I take a look Ma'am?"

There was once a time where you had to pretend to be dead to avoid capture once is Damascus. You are now stiller than then, perhaps this is as motionless as you will ever be. The watchman opens your visor and shines a latern of some kind into your face. "No! Don't! You'll deconstisute the wax!" "Ma'am, what the the hell is this? There's a guy in here, he's sweating like hell and he smells like a brewery." The guard says. "Oh my god! Leave the dummy alone! That means the preservatives are failing! I have to go and get him in a cold storage before he melts and ruins the piece!" She exclaims, providing a very convincing false panic. "Ma'am?" "No time! I have to save the wax and the armour or director MacDonald will have my head! And yours as well for holding me up!"

"Okay, okay. My apologies ma'am, you have a good night." You hear heavy foot steps, an opening and shutting door then silence.

You remain perfectly still, perfectly quiet.
The hand truck starts rolling again. "It's okay, you can talk, but don't move there's camer-erhm...mechanical sentries thay can see but are deaf. I'll explain later."

You roll your eyes, this is becoming a rather tedious trend, "Quite the performance you gave back there," you say dryly, "Are you a performer, a bard?"

"Ha ha." She responds, just as dry. "We made it didn't we?" You go through more and more halls and doors, before finally settling at a pair of wide doors. "You can get off now." You step off give a quick stretch, and open the doors. The room looks like some sort of workshop, with things in jars and tools strewn all about, and large tables and workbenches taking up most of the room. "This is where we do restorations and other things. Mostly keeping the armour in good shape, stuff like that." You tour the room, looking at the various alien implements, tools and the like.

"Lady DeRetti, can you help me out of my armour?" You ask, the smell and the chaffing finally getting to you. "W-what?" She stammers. "You are knowledgeable about armour. This much is obvious. Can you aid me in escaping mine? It has become quite burdensome for the moment." ,You explain. "Uhm...suuure. let me see if there's a change of clothes here...might be an extra uniform somewhere nearby."

She leaves to a small room, rummage about and comes out with some strange clothes, a button less shit of some kind and a pair of blue trousers made of some kind of linen. "Okay arms up, let's get this off." She deftly unstraps and unbuckles the bit's of armour, then turns around leaving you to undress yourself. "Are you out?" She asks. "Aye, could you lend me those clothes?" She turns around, eyes closed and offers the trousers and top. "What is next?" You ask as you put on the clothes. The pants where suprisingly easy and comfortable to put on, and the toothy apparatus took you a moment to get used to be you find it quite agreeable. The shirt you found to be oddly constraing and tight on your body. "I don't know. This is just so bizarre...are you dressed?" She asks. You grin, "Mostly. I know nothing of this new world, or if there's a way back to mine. What should I do in the mean time?"

She furrows her brow in thought, chewing her bottom lip. "I don't know, you're a knight in the 21st century. What do you WANT to do?"

"The 21st century..." You whisper. You feel like you've been hit with a maul, or kicked by a horse. It almost didn't feel real, but now you have a number, a time period to make it real. "It's been 800 years. 800 years. Everyone I've ever known, ever loved, ever fought, my comrades, my king, my county, the land the land the fought for and the land that I was ripped from...all gone. To dust." You feel tears in your eyes, unwelcome and unwanted but you let them flow. "I'm not even wearing clothes that fit me! What God forsaken material are these pants even made from!" Lady DeRetti comes in to console you, wrapping her arms around you in a tight embrace, "It's okay, you'll be okay, this is a lot for you, maybe too much but I just say a man appear in thin air today. One who is from a period that I have dedicated my life's work to. Maybe it's fate or destiny or God."

You embrace her back, the sensation steading your nerves slightly. It's been too long since you've held an honest woman. 802 years in fact. "Thank you Lady DeRetti. Your help has been far too valuable."

"It's okay, if it's any consolation England is a thriving country now, and the Holy Land is still there." She says soothingly.
A surge of hope fills you, perhaps all was not lost! Perhaps all the sacrifices your comrades in arms made have not been in vain! "We saved it?! It has been freed of the heathens?" She look unsettled by this, then she releases you from the embrace, "It's...complica-" she starts but you will have none of it. "Is the Holy Land free or no?" She sighs, "Not in the way you would like, no."

This fills you with righteous fury, 800 years and the filthy Islamic stain has not been cleaned from the map. "Then it appears my quest is not over." The fire in your eyes frightens Lisa but you're too tired to care.

You ask, what the hell is a camera? "Never mind, I might be able to erase the tapes. Just be careful." You nod, slightly bewildered and slip on your boots and slop out of the doors.

You hear another crash. You speed up your walk, getting low and trying to stay As quite a possible. You round a corner that leads into an open space lined with with glass boxes that hold various bits of armour and weaponry, some familiar some not. In the far corner of the room is a man. White, loose cloth, scimitar at his waist and round shield at his back, you would know a saracen blindfolded and deaf, and there is one before you, seemingly raiding the section that holds arab weapons and armour

There isn't much to improve on. If anything, you improve how fast and easily you can manufacture it instead of futilely increasing the protectiveness by 1%.
>>
>>37565085
we're not there yet also better design the plate? Do you have any idea how badly shaped modern plate armor is?
>>
Also I have some ideas for the system, simplistic as it is.

So 10 is the baseline stat, no bonuses. No bonuses, but no negatives. Same with 9 and 11. Once we get to 12 or 8 you get +1 or -1 respectively. So if we needed to roll on something that required intellect you would add +8 to it.

Luck adds to general rolls, and allows for rerolls. Luck stats of 7 and 13 add +1 and -1 to all stats.

Thoughts?

>>37565193
sounds pretty good though we'll see how well it goes in practice
>>
>>37565085
Soon anon. We will get there.
>>
>>37565193
+8 might be a bit much on a d20 rolI. think +/-1 to rolls per 2 attribute points over/under 10 might be a little more reasonable.
>>
>>37565224
So with that our Int score would mean a +4 to rolls using Int? Would mean the max + or - you could get would be 5, seems a little bit more balanced, but that depends on how dc's are handled.

You regain your balance fully, but your opponent is still reeling from your blow. You advance, cool and collected like an angel of death, he charges but you bash him back with your shield then you follow it up with a downward swing. Knocking him down he attempts to get back up and stab you but you shatter his blade with a deft strike from your mace. You pin him down under your boot.

Then lets tie him to a chair and interrogate him about the guy who (presumably) also sent him forward in time.

We don't want to cause problems for Lisa if this future place is squeamish about doing the lords work, and who knows, we might be able to get some answers from this heathen.

You ease of the arab, only to deliver a swift kick to his chin, Knocking him out. Best not to kill him, lest the law or Lisa's superiors come take action against him, there was already the destruction of the display that had to be taken into account.
You pick the man up and put him over your shoulder and carry him back to the workshop. Lisa meets you at the other side of the door, "Oh my god! Is that...?" "Our intruder? Yes. An arab warrior? Most definitely. I would have slain him where he stood but I feared retribution from the constabulary. They would most likely see just another murder between madmen in antique garb." you say, laying down on one of the tables. "Good call. What was he after?" She asks

"Just some weapons that where no doubt familiar to him. I do not doubt he came here with me, or at least in the fashion as I. Did you succeed at what you had to do?"

"I did, we should be fine. My only concern is what to do with him we should go soon and leaving him here might get messy."

Lisa can probably find some duct tape or something, and we should know something about tying up prisoner securely.

"We may take him along." You offer. "That's ridiculous! He's dangerous!" She shrieks

"As am I." You remind her. The world may have gone soft in this utopian future but he is still a warrior. "Besides, I see no other choice M'Lady. Leaving him will only create more questions that may create a difficult situation for you. Remove the arab and myself, leave my armour here, as if you were tinkering with it and deny any knowledge of the damages. Tis not foolproof but certainly better than nothing." She bites her lip but nods, "Okay, just let me get some tape and rope..." She rummages through some drawers and produces a wide black ring and a coil of rope. She pulls at the black ring, the 'tape', and it unravels, she bites off a strip of the stuff and hands it too you, "Put the grey part over his mouth, it'll keep him from making too much noise." You take the tape from her, the strip's stickiness surprising, but you stay on task and do as you where instructed. She bound his hands and feet and you hoisted him over your shoulder.

"Where to now?" You ask. "My apartment, I don't live far. Do you think you carry him for a little longer?" You nod.

You leave a different way you then the one you came in, this time you have a better view of the artworks. You want to ask a million questions about them but you stay quiet, as to not wake the Arab.

You arrive back on the street, and she begins to walk to where she resides.

"It may be that I have been flung far from my own days, but surely the law of the land looks upon a trussed man borne unwillingly with a condescending eye? Even if he is a heathen."

Same here. I'm dying. I'm going down for an hour or two. Hopefully the thread is still here. If not I'm afraid this is where the thread ends.
