“Good, hey he said we could have the foam for now,” you say to Shadow Alex, looking amused at her excuses, “You want to come help with it?”

You glance back at the house, your father did just basically give you the okay… in a roundabout way, you slightly close the shed door, giving you a little more cover from there as both you and Shadow Alex begin to look around.

Even with your new found eyesight, and senses you’re not seeing anything… the tables all are relatively clean, and outside of some basic tools you need in every house there’s seemingly nothing here.

As you’re searching you start running your hand across everything, you’re about to give up when you feel a spot on the table thats almost painful to the touch. You frown while looking at it, as best you can see, even with your eyesight, theres nothing there.

Shadow Alex hugs you from behind, “Times up,” she sighs before disappearing back into you.

You smile, “Welcome home,” you say going back to messing with the table.

You head over to the couch and lean on the back of it, “Yo, Beth.”

“Sup,” she asks looking up at you.

“Not that I’m trying to get rid of you or anything… but don’t you think you should give your dad a call?” you point out.

Beth grimaces, “... I should, yes, that doesn’t mean I want to.”

“You know he’s got to be worried about you,” you point out, glancing over to Kat to see she’s having problems deciding what to pay attention to.

Beth sighs, “Probably more angry than anything. I doubt I’ll have freedom for a while, likely be grounded for the rest of summer.”

“... you could always try and talk to him about… well everything you mentioned yesterday?” you suggest, “It might help.”

“It’s never that easy though,” Beth pulls her phone out, looking at it hesitantly, “Yeah, okay. I probably should before he calls the cops about a runaway or something,” she turns her phone on and heads for the back door, “I’ll be out here, so I don’t bother anyone.”

“I’ll be here,” you give a smile, “Good luck and all that.”

Beth laughs, “Yeah, I’ll need it,” she closes the door and holds her phone up to her ear while pacing around the back yard. You can see she’s speaking actively. After a moment you bite your lip and have a seat on the couch.

The soap opera’s still on and Kat’s back to watching it, you sigh and let it pass the time. Two sets of commercials later, with you trying to figure out how these shows are even liked, the back door opens again as Beth gives a frustrated sigh.

“Hey, Alex I’ve got to head home,” Beth’s heading for the door, stopping just before the hallway to it.

“I can’t say I’m surprised,” you go to give Beth a hug, and are mildly surprised when she pulls you into a kiss instead.

“In case I’m grounded for a while,” she says with a weak smile, “Do try and break me out of jail if it lasts too long.”

“Hmm, you know I think my Dad still has the homemade breaching charges,” you give her a teasing smile, “So I think I can do that.”

Beth opens her mouth to say something and frowns, “Just how serious are you..?”

“About the charges? Pretty serious, about using them? Not sure yet,” you shrug, before giving her a tight hug, “But no really you’re house is safe.”

“Thats… good I think, might change that opinion later though,” she sighs, and buries her face into your chest, “Wish me luck.”

You run your hand through her hair, “Good luck Beth, I’ll see you soon.”

She swallows hard, “Yeah, you too,” she lingers in your arms for a moment before pulling away and heading to her car. You watch as she pulls away with a slight tightness in your chest.

Idly, you wonder if you’re even in the mood to do anything else now.
