...after my conversation with Entyrus. Because of that I was forsaken by him, but it's a small price to pay for the thing's I've glimpsed. However his original ideas were right and the more I read this ancient codex, the more clear truth is to me... Veritas Imperialis is a beautiful idea, but it failed and it would fail again. Something more permanent, something more transcended is required. I am no longer sure whether it's me going mad or am I truly the only one with the power to change the tide of history and save humanity... Either way, pylons will be the answer. I will leave for Cadia in a few weeks, on the way, I will need to visit Terra for the last time. Some things can't be left for others to deal with.
- from the personal notes of Inquisitor Quixos, 116.189.M41
+++
You are now standing at the bottom of Quixos' base, facing him in his psychically enhanced form. He has just ordered you to leave or face his wrath, he seems to be very protective of his work on the man-made Cadian pylon which he created. You have a few hundred guardsmen and your honour guard with you, along with some Distaff led by Eisenhorn and Bequin. What shall you do next?

reposting MSs words from last thread

"Some must sacrifice everything to stand against the horrors of the galaxy and beyond. My brothers and I know this too well. To stand as guardians of Humanity we've lost our own humanity. But we do not pretend to know the Emperor's wishes. I know only that my father Corax would tell me to stand with my brothers and have faith in them and Humanity. You've stood alone for too long and lost the path, Quixos. It is as a union we stand and have faith in each other and humanity. If you can not see that you've wandered, it is as a union we shall bring an end to this bloodshed."

As for the battle plan. Fire upon him from all directions. Inquisitors and us fire a sanctified bolt or two each upon him, and also spread out. Can't all bunch up and make a target.

If for some reason Quixos resists the power of sanctified bolts, I reckon we should discard the name of Azethecar to rob Quixos of his daemonic empowerment and force him to engage us on mortal terms.

Today is an unusual session, something what you could possibly call a "boss fight", but if you want to join, you are welcome to. No extra reading is necessary, just be aware of what the Chapter is about, you can read that in the wiki. Also, as this quest has seen a 6 month hiatus(and not for the first time!), I would like to just say that these guys who are playing it are the best quest players on this whole board. Like seriously. Not only because of their dedication, but also because of the amount of work that they put into our wiki while I was away, creating better and more beautiful content than ever! And as if it wouldn't be enough, I realised that we have one of the smartest player teams out there in terms of planning and coordination. Yes, our luck wasn't great and dice hate us, but unlike waifu quest 39393 players you are working together and dealing with your problems like men(or women) who deserve respect. I am humbled that I have the honour of helping you run YOUR game. So that's just something that crossed my mind today, now let's get back to game.

When you order to open fire, Quixos laughs and stands atop the pylon without even trying to avoid the torrent of fire:
>The moment of truth! Let me see, for what have I sold so many souls...
Hundreds of lasrounds and bolts hit Quixos' majestic frame, each one of them taking out a chunk of his armour or a chunk of his meat, but for whatever reason, failing to affect him. Where your rounds pierce his flesh, it is restored by unholy energies within moments. Where your bolts tear his armour, chaos dust rebuilds it before next round strikes. Storm of steel tears at him with no effect... Only then do you notice, that some of the round have had effect! Holy ammunition seems to have been able to damage his unholy vessel...

Sanctified ammunition deals only half the damage it normally would, while normal ammunition doesn't damage Quixos.
500-(420:2)= 290 HP left

Been lurking this. I'm amazed you guys haven't lost anyone important yet. Lucky as fuck. Did you guys rub the emperors golden foot or something?
>>
>>37540218
I've been sacrificing co-workers all day
>>
>>37540121
Okay so do the exorcism and shooting first then we'll see how to melee.
>>
>>37540218
Coin's got to turn up heads sometimes. This quest has had a routine of shit luck, making it a good 40k quest.
>>
>>37540280
sounds good. Kaldor can either help with the exorcism or launch psyker attacks?
>>
>>37539930
>>37540061
Technically Luigi posted before I asked for a roll, so it doesn't count and I'll take Dieter's roll. Yeah, bending the rules, but what the hell.

Daemonology: (2 degrees of success)
+++
As you manage to get a closer look at the Quixos' psychic signature, you finally realise what it is and why it was so hard to fight him so far... A cold shiver runs down your augmented spine. That madman has made a Pact. And not just an ordinary deal with the devil, but a Thrice Cursed Pact, something that requires tremendous energy, invaluable sacrifice and extremely rare knowledge. That must be the reason why Quixos was willing to throw his minions at you - he wanted to finish the ritual, to sacrifice the psykers in order to empower himself with unholy strength. But the thing that scare you most is the nature of Quixos' Pact... It is the Pact of Immortality. You are not educated enough in the dark arts to say to what extent does it protect him, but the Dark Gods promised Quixos that he will not be killed... You are not sure what to make of this.
+++
What are your next actions? Whom do you want to send against Quixos? (4 slots)
>>
>>37540288
Like that we nuked ourselves and had to make a deal with cegorach

>Pact of Immortality
Didn't help this faget Chaos Gods a shit.
Time to destroy a soul.

>pact of Immortality

....wow thats a doozie.

All I can think is pulling a devil in the details. fuck him up hard enough that he's forced into the warp itself in order for whatever fell chaos god/deamon he made the pact with to keep honoring it. It only states making sure he stays alive.

Not what state of "life" he is in.

You guys sure know how to make friends wow. Are you always going off to kill would be gods of chaos?

CM with Ironhaunt, Eisenhorn with Blessed Arnyssarian sword, is a certain pick in my opinion
>>
>>37540551
Ironhaunt isn't force though, probably won't do any damage.
>>
>>37540579
Maybe our psychic powers could change that. How about a Living Lightning, or some plasma?

By the way, I would like to welcome new battle brothers aboard, may the Emperor fights with you and may your rolls always stay on the right side of the target. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me or other players. I hope you'll enjoy this.
+++
Please give me a roll of 1d100 once you'll attack Quixos, I am rolling his defence...
>>
>>37540741
Exorcism and ALL THE HOLY BOLTS first.
>>
>>37540769
agreed.
>>
>>37540769
Roll d100 for percentage of damage dealt. It will be decreased by -20% due to his psychic shield (roll of 55 from Willpower 75). After this you will no longer be able to make group attacks against him. Also, exorcism requires close proximity, please state you actors in this format:
1. A does X
2. B does Y
3. C does Z
4. D does Q
state SINGLE ACTION for each actor and then roll 1d100 for each actor (a total of 4d100)
>>
Rolled 95 (1d100)

>>37540900
eat sanctified bolts, Quixos.

Emperor truly loves his warriors! Without guardsmen in the way you deal almost maximum possible damage:
600x0.95:2x0.8= 228 damage
Quixos had 339/500 HP, so he's left with 111/500HP
+++
Now he's going to attack random character:
1. Renard
2. Avicenor
3. Inquisitor Rici
4. Inquisitor Grumman
5. Targos
6. Eisenhorn
7. Uber Aemos
8. Cherubael-Deiron
9. Bequin
10. Kaldor
11. Trianon
12. Chapter Master
13-17. Members of Distaff
18. Horim the Heartless
Please roll d18 and tell me names of 4 warriors you send to fight him. Or you do something else?

HORIM

Rolled 3 (1d18)

>>37541207
I think that needs a reroll since Avicenor is still not here.
>>
>>37541286
No, that means he misses.
>>
>>37541207
>>37541207
damn, my bad, I included Avicenor again, please reroll.
>>
>>37541304
That would be pretty sweet, but I think this roll represents intent, not action
>>
>>37541321
Shouldn't he miss for this? I mean I remember you fucking us over ages ago for making a basic mistake like this.
>>
>>37541182
Well we're out of holy ammunition and we can't stab him to death. So that really only leaves the old-fashioned Emperor-tried option of obliterating his soul in the warp.

We have quite a few psykers here, time for mind-duel?
>>
>>37541358
seems like the only option. Much as I HATE THAT.

God damn perils of the warp aint no joke yo. Plus he's like. super psyker

Quixos chooses his first victim, Inquisitor Rici. Poor fool starts reading incantations and tries to ward him off with signs that would have barely worked even on a Low Daemons... Kharnagar the Deathly sings in the wind and Rici is cut in half, his blood spraying over laughing Quixos, restoring him d10 life.
>This one was but a morsel... I'd love to drink one of Astartes...
Next turn he'll aim for one of Astartes enemies.

Let us end the session here as the sun is about to rise. We shall continue on Monday evening GMT. TIme might change, I'll post here: http://chapterquest.wikia.com/wiki/Next_Session

Thanks for playing and see you soon!

Just for shits and giggles, rolling for Rici's exorcism attempts. Least he should get for being instagibbed in the middle of a damned group of Astartes, Inquisitors and Distaff.
