Excerpt from the auto-dictum of Gregor Eisenhorn, personal notes:
+++
[16:55:01] Our assault is going better than expected, losses are heavy, but acceptable. Thracian troopers are doing their duty better than expected, mostly because of the pure shock power delivered by my new allies, Ghosts. They lead assaults and coordinate our forces, but have not suffered a single casualty yet. They are impressive warriors, however they resemble their namesakes too well for my taste. Impenetrable darkness stares at me from the eye slits of their helmets whenever I speak with them. Especially their leader. I have not met anyone like him since Seydon, and he is centuries older than my new companion. Note to myself: check his background. There must be something I missed.
[19:13:42] Distaff have subdued a psyker, Lodiar the Screamer. He is a strong one, bordering A+ class. Chapter Master handed him over to me. He will make a fine addition to the Menagerie.
[19:32:11] Apparently Uber Aemos found some way to control oxygen levels in the lower levels of the base. Astartes have decided to suffocate our enemies, it will take a few hours. I guess this is a right decision, our soldiers are tired and radiation sickness is getting worse with most of them, it is better to weaken the enemy.
[21:46:37] Something is wrong. Cherubael has woken up from his slumber and is getting agitated, I needed to use Words of Power to sedate him... We still have a few hours until the CO2 levels drop low enough to safely enter lower levels.
[22:02:08] I feel it. My body is shaking with raw power. I am afraid we waited for too long... Something is happening down below. I must warn Astartes!

I am afraid Luigi is right, it's been too long. Here's our last session to remind you what is happening:
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/33170051/#p33173166
In one sentence: You are a Space Marine Chapter Master leading a joint assault with Eisenhorn on archheretic Quixos' base.
===
Rules are the same as always. One roll per player, more is better on d100(most of the time), first roll is taken, you must state what you are rolling for exactly, especially if there are multiple rolls involved.
===
Please roll your Perception with d100
===
Eisenhorn approaches you:
>Well, Chapter Master, it seems we are in trouble. I know that you are a psyker yourself, try opening your inner eye wider, you'll sense it too. Whatever witchery Quixos was cooking up for us down there, he's most likely finished... What is your plan of actions?
>>
Rolled 76 (1d100)

>>37509419
There's undoubtedly an ambush waiting for us down there. Do we have any Hades breaching drills?

Rolling for perception...

>>37509505
Your inner sense is disturbed, but you know that you are weaker psyker than Eisenhorn, you are unable to sense all of the subtleties of the threat below.
===
Hades Breaching Drills:
0-60 = Thracian 51st is not specialised in subterranean warfare, 0
61-80 = The regiment has a single piece just in case of critical situations such as this.
81-95 = Thracians 51st is well prepared for subterranean warfare, they have 3+d6 drills.
96+ = Each battalion(120 men) has a drill of their own.
>>

>>37509748

Omnissiah, deliver unto us thine instruments of war!
>>
>>37509748
Did anyone happen to bring along blessed oils/water to consecrate our ammunition?

... doesn't CM have some holy ammo?
>>
>>37509748
Well, no breaching drills and what is undoubtedly a daemonic ambush waiting for us.
Maybe we could cobble together some tower shields and advance forwards with a wave of flamers in the front?

>>37509916
Yeah 7 sanctified bolts.
>>
>>37509805
Unfortunately Thracian regiments are traditional line regiments without specialization for underground warfare.
>>37509916
You indeed have some holy ammunition that you have looted during one of your journeys, specifically 7 sanctified bolt rounds, cast from molten church bells of Ophellia VII and thrice blessed according to Thorian rites.
>>37509940
What shall be your next actions?
>>
>>37510045
None of the multiple Inquisitors thought to bring goods to render their weapons consecrated when facing Quixos?

Remind me to file a requisition form for all of them after this.
>>
>>37510045
I'd propose storming the lowest levels from all entrances at once, with liberal torrents of flame and plasma spewing from the front ranks.
What kind of effect on daemons does the distaff have?
>>

Rolled 5, 9, 5, 4, 9, 8, 9 = 49 (7d10)

>>37510091
They are not your servants and I doubt whether they part with their ammunition willingly before going to battle, but you might try asking them. Inquisitors have a total of 7d10 blessed rounds among them and Inquisitor Voke has a spare blessed chain. Other Inquisitors have some items with minor to medium blessings, but they won't part with them.
>>37510109
Distaff when used en masse could simply extinguish daemons or psychic attacks, however when they are together, they are easier to attack by conventional means. Also, the closer they are phisically to the daemon/psyker, the more effective they are. For example when they were ambushing Lodiar the Screamer from medium distance, their effectiveness was 5 points each, but if they would be a meter away from him, it would be 10.
>>
>>37510378
In that case I propose CM, the shadow guard, the inquisitors and the distaff form a sort of deathstar unit. With the Space Marines protecting the fleshy distaff from bullets and the distaff weakening the daemons the SM are slicing through. Meanwhile all the stormtroopers/guardsmen attack from all entrances at once as per other idea.

Y/N?
>>
>>37510378
Roll your Persuasion if you want them to share the rounds with you.
===
Please make last additions to your plan of attack(or maybe retreat?) and then roll d100.

Might I suggest that FP be turned into the DH/RT style for this climactic battle, instead of rewrites of reality?

ie: spend/burn methods of using them?
>>
>>37510378
>and I doubt whether they part with their ammunition willingly before going to battle, b
Well, I don't. We're up against mass murdering daemons and Alpha+ Tier psykers. I do doubt they want to be on the front lines against that sort of enemy.
>>
>>37510625
This is something that can be only felt, not described. It's rather about feeling the enemy rather than understanding him. You might have had greater insight if you succeeded, but you did not and it is not something that you can learn from others.
>>37510605
>>37510647
I assume that's what Luigi had in mind. You can use(not burn) Fate Points on non-combat, non-critical rolls to reroll them, you can also use them to restore 3d10 HP or to add a bonus of +10.
>>37510666
Well, they are planning on going in as well, at least that was part of the original plan. Would you like them to stay outside in exchange for giving up all of their ammunition?
>>
>>37510811
>Well, they are planning on going in as well, at least that was part of the original plan
So they're not going to stay behind and make up the Elite unit behind the wall of meat shields then?
>>
>>37510811
So...'spend' a fate point for a reroll for our attack? And then we can only use 3 more for this encounter?
>>
>>37510811
>Would you like them to stay outside in exchange for giving up all of their ammunition?
I'd prefer them stay behind the meat shield and not directly engage things unless they have to. In which case they would have most of the bullets yes, just not all of them.
>>
>>37510916
These inquisitors are pretty experienced daemonhunters, I think they would be extremely helpful in the fray.
>>
>>37510837
>Chapter Master, my career with the Inquisition is decades long and if I learned something during that time, it's that you don't trust anyone apart from yourself and your gun. I have studied Daemonic lore far longer than anyone here and I hope that I will be able to stop the beast below, but I am not giving up my blessed rounds if I am to descend there.
Titus Endor is not happy about your attitude.
>>37510848

"Let others bear the brunt of the force, let their faith be your shield, so your own defenses is as strong as the Emperor can will them to be."

As you enter the lower levels, darkness engulfs you. Uber Aemos managed to cut off power to the oxygen systems, but light apparently went out with it too. You immediately vox him to fix it, Space Marines are not affected by it, but darkness and light mean life and death to your mortal followers. Your power armoured boot descends on something squishy. Dead trooper, one of the Quixos' cultists. His tatooed face is frozen in agony, his hands are still clutching to a knife in his chest. Wretch ended his existence himself rather than suffocating. As your party moves along, you encounter more of them, dead lay in piles. There are hundreds of them, their death is hovering like a stench around you. As the warp grows stronger around you, you order troops who are coming from behind you to burn the corpses, just in case. Then you notice movement, a second before your auspex warns you:
>Targets at 10 o'clock!
You and your brothers open fire at the tide of charging monstrosities.

Sulix is like a whirlwing of steel among the monsters, he chops them to pieces before they can get close to you, doing his duty as he should - after all he's the Shadow of the Body. However then at a last moment something goes wrong, lights flash and out of a vortex a huge beasts appears. Let me clarify, he won the original duel that he engaged in - fighting against the chaos spawn(you can see their stats at the side of the picture, but they do not represent the daemon that was summoned). As this is not a one-dimensional battle, actions of inquisitors summoned another daemon among the horde, who is greater than the others. He managed to slip past Sulix's defences because Sulix was engaged simultaneously fighting other enemies. Daemon was summoned NOT at the Endor's location, but at the location where spell was targeted - centre of the daemon horde, where Sulix was. The new daemon appeared literally behind his back.

Doing my best, but I'll try to be more explicit. I tend to try to provide more interesting descriptions rather than focus on exact placement and such, but I'll keep that in mind. Constructive criticism is always appreciated.

Purified metal should stop corruption from spreading, but wouldn't remove it as such, you'd need something more potent.
+++
Inquisitor Voke approaches you:
>I've seen this before, or at least a variation of similar wound. It twists flesh into morbid state of undeath, animating those who by all accounts should be already dead. Or it could be something else. It's chaos, you can't apply logic to its workings. Either way, he'll be a different man after this. I was part of the ritual that affected his fate and I want to repay you for this - i can keep him alive until he is brought back to the ship. But are you sure that you want me to do that?
You hear a bolt shot in the background, you don't turn around. You know it was Eisenhorn, granting Emperor's mercy to Inquisitor Endor. Should you do the same to Sulix?
+++
>>37512848
Your men under Renard's command have cornered the daemon in one of the side corridors. Shall you choke him with bodies or do you want to risk your brothers sending them to deal with him again..? Or will you just order Horim the Heartless to crush him?
>>

>>37513077
>>37513138

"You are a son of Corax, Sulix. Do not despair, fight! The shadows are your home. Your mind your greatest weapon. Grasp it and resist! No grave shall take you, marine."

Place sanctified round into his wound and recite the litany of the maimed.

We need to remove any blade bit that was left behind in Sulix, and perhaps we can use our psyker abilities to grab and pull at the corruption.
Just who the hell does this corruption think we are?
>>
>>37513311
Well technically I can, but won't.
So it's just better to think that I can't instead.
>>
>>37513354
>Purified metal should stop corruption from spreading, but wouldn't remove it as such, you'd need something more potent.
Do that for now, and keep him alive. Say >>37513369

The ghost himself.
>>
>>37513354
Stop the taint from spreading. Get Sulix back to the ship and put him in stasis. Don't take him out until we're in a sufficiently Emperor-strong place to combat his corruption and purge it.

Hey, Assassin! Missed you man, join us next time if you can't today.
>>37513262
Unfortunately this is not one of the daemons you studied, but you do realize that he is a servant of Khorne and he is significantly tougher than other chaos spawn you've met so far.
>>37513369
>As you command... Chapter Master... No grave shall take us!
Sulix is convulsing, but he seems to be trying to struggle. Astartes phisyque allows him to combat poison that would kill or corrupt others in seconds. You can also roll d100 for Medicae to remove some of the poison. You get +20 bonus with Uber Aemos' help.
>>37513378
If you want to engage him personally, you'll have to abandon Sulix as he is.
>>37513491
As daemon lore check was already done, is this roll for Horim's attack?
>>
>>37513554
>you'll have to abandon Sulix as he is.
Or we could do what we want with Sulix, and then go to him. Since the demon is, y'know, cornered.

>>
>>37513554
No I didn't see the identification roll sorry
>>
>>37513354
>>37513369

Also, Endor had some blessed ammo, correct?

Take one of his blessed rounds and have Sulix consume the gunpowder portion. Marine physiology should hopefully cause absorption of some of the blessed reactant and potentially could cause elements of it to seed around his body. The rest of the round can be placed in his wound, as well.

(Astartes quite literally eat shit like that for their bones to begin with. Gotta get pumped)

And make sure his blessed ammo is distributed or his acolytes are going to keep with us and use it in his stead.

Sorry, that'd have to be separate roll, because it wasn't stated. On the other hand I could use it for Horim's attack, because it sort of states "Also send in Horim."

Daemon is not a kitten, it'll not sit there waiting for you.
>>37513641
Actually I dont recall whether you brought any Apothecaries with you, could I have a confirmation on that please from someone with a better memory?
>>37513606
Eisenhorn turns over Endor's ammunition to you:
>I think you'll use it better than he will.
Also Sulix seems to have calmed a little after consuming/being healed by the round.
One of the Imperial guardsmen appraoches you with a report:
>Milord, those beasts, they've been dealt with, our casualties are limited and we have the last daemon cornered. However some men are stating to act strange, this place is getting to them. I suggest we either proceed or retreat, staying here makes me feel... unclean, i'd say.

>>

That is indeed correct, Avicenor will perform the check and take care of Sulix together with Inquisitor Voke and Uber Aemos, who also have medical skills. With this roll:
>>37513641
Sulix is in safe hands being transported back to the ship.
>>37513990
Eisenhorn thinks for a moment:
>Prolonged exposure can result in madness or emotional anomalies. If we want to continue using mortal troops, we should either push as fast as we can or leave them behind. Also, we won't be able to deploy all 8000 of them down here, I'd suggest taking a few battalions, that should be enough, but I am not sure...

There is no time to stop him, daemon attacks as soon as he sees you forming up to stop him, he cuts a bloody swathe through screaming guardsmen, herding them like sheep in front of him towards your guns, jumping around like a loose spring, his blade cutting two or three limbs or heads at a time. Finally he reaches the end of your lines and somersaults over Horim's back, disappearing into the darkness...

...and then his luck ran out. The darkness barked at him and a single sanctified bolt round found its way into daemon's neck, exploding in his throat. You strolled out of the shadows with a smoking bolter and stepped on his ugly snout with your armoured foot and then turned it.
>That'll teach to jump around, creep.

+Sword is destroyed with high explosives in a safe side tunnel.
===
Your force advances forward, passing through what seems to be some kind of elaborate construction/manufacturing plant. As you go on, you notice dozens of empty cages, where clearly human beings were kept for a long time. You also notice various symbols on the walls that must have at some point kept this place sealed from the warp, but now they are clearly defaced and no longer active. When you mention this to Eisenhorn he quietly replies:
>I have my theories, but I am not yet sure myself. I know that Quixos was involved in at least two conspiracies at once and one of them had something to do with Cadian pylons... Oh and here it is. So that's what he's been up to.
You enter the gargantuan hangar, a lot bigger than anything you've seen so far, it's hundreds of meters wide. In the middle of it there's a huge pylon lying on the ground, probably made of stone or of a similar material. There are lots of holes in it from all sides, about half a meter wide, they seem like tunnels that are leading towards the core or whatever is inside the pillar. It seems to be half finished, probably still months if not years before completion, but even if you were fast enough to stop Quixos from completing his pylon, you failed to stop something else. From all side surrounding the pylon there are dozens of smaller cages hanging from chains. From the fading warp signature you realise that this is the place where Quixos was holding his most precious psyker prisoners... But now cages are full corpses that are bleeding unrestrained psychic energy. Above all of them, on top of the lying pylon, stands a dark figure with glowing eyes and a huge sword, emanating pure rage.
>Quixos... Is it him?
You mutter. Eisenhorn nods.
>In flesh. He's waiting for us. Time to deal with him...
Quixos raises his hand into the air and booms with voice as loud as a passing train:
>Parley! Let us speak, Inquisitors!
>>
>>37515288
What? decision time?
While we "parley" we get the troops in position, spearhead, and ready to take Quixos down if he makes a move

>Please don't get me wrong. I am not going to ask you to spare my life, try to surrender or any of that nonsense. You fail to understand the power relationship here. You have failed to stop me, your decision to suffocate me here bought me enough time to finish the Ritual of Sacrifice. It was a shame, putting those psykers to the sword, but I guess it was the right decision. You, oh holier-than-thou servants of the Emperor, fail to to grasp the meaning of my work here. And because of that reason I am willing to let you go, to let you live. The things I am working on here are beyond anything you can imagine. I am going to save the Imperium! I am going to slap Chaos in the face and make it our bitch! Me, a radical, a traitor some would say, will be the one to deliver salvation which some many asked for for uncountable millenia! I know that you've had a glimpse of my power and you know that my work is almost done. Another few years, maybe a decade, and it will be finished. Turn around now and leave my planet. I will spare your lives because I don't want you damaging my work in the process of me slaughtering you.
+++
What shall you do/answer?
+++
Tactical considerations:
+He seems to be alone
+Some 500 guardsmen could fit into the hangar
+There's not much cover
+Climing on top of the Pylon could be problematic, but there is some scaffolding around it

That you truly believe you can bend chaos to your will is merely greater testament to your corruption. You would try to save the Imperium and in doing so would destroy it. This cannot be allowed to happen.

Pile forces into the hangar, spread out, engage at will from range, Inquisitors using mind shenanigans or whatever.
When Quixos seems most distracted, Horim throws us at him. Activate digi-ring shiled if he sees us coming and tries to doombolt or whatever.

Y/N?

>>37515767
This nigga be crazy. He thinks he can tame the WARP? Oh he so cray cray.

Seriously nobodys actually goign to let him do this right?

>>37516142
(while you speak the troops are pouring into the room, taking cover behind used crates, construction machinery, etc.)
>Eisenhorn knows... Hasn't he told you yet? This marvel, this work of beauty on which I am standing, is the first man-made pylon, an almost working replica of those that we have on Cadia... Have you ever wondered why the only stable gate into and out of the Eye of Terror is right near Cadia? And why is it so that it is never engulfed in any of the freak warp storms? And why doesn't that thrice cursed incompetent fool Abbadon just summon a planet scourge on it to erase it for all times and deny Imperium the outpost in the maws of the Chaos? I will tell you why. It's the pylons, they can control the warp... And now we will have one which we will be able to use at will! This is a day greater than the invention of STC! And you imbeciles want to ruin it... I am not afraid of you... Guns can't harm, weapons can't kill and my power is greater than ever... Doom will follow in my wake. My work is the only thing I will weep for. Another lost century, another thousand worlds burned by chaos, another hundred trillion dead in the grinding machinery of the carcass which we call Imperium... This is not what He wanted... Last chance. Leave or die.
>>
>>37516404
Is just exterminatus'ing the planet an option?
A few two-stage cyclonic torpedoes into the core maybe?

>I think I know what my father would want, Quixos. He knew the perils of the warp, and if it is indeed the powers of chaos that have built this pylon there is no way it would work against chaos. You have been deceived into doing the work of the chaos gods, like so many traitors before you.
