Much of the ornate red paintwork that covered her arms and face has smudged now, and she still has a vicious bruise from where you struck her in your desperate final attack.

The elf just glares, giving her bindings a sharp tug. Looks like you've got your work cut out for you with this one.

Let's see, you have 40 female and 21 male of the elven villagers, plus 9 female and 2 male of the village's warriors that your pack managed to subdue. You also have two of the elf spellcasters, one male, one female, and the elf at your feet, the leader of the village's warriors who damn near killed you.

Now you have to decide what to do with them.

The rest of the female slaves can be divided up between clan property and rewards to orcs who have excelled themselves, both here and back at camp. You can leave figuring out who that is to your lieutenants when you get back. You also think it might be time to give Rasha to a lieutenant, perhaps Bra'kur, see if your new sorcerer can break her in.

You look down at the elf warrior, still staring at you. She's a fine looking woman, lithe and catlike in figure, long-legged and athletic. Her skin a rich chocolate shade, hair long and dark. A few scars mar the smooth skin, reminders of past battles, not that you see that as a bad thing. It is very late as you head back towards the jungle's edge, your clanmates in high spirits. Your two mates walk alongside you. K'zala clutches your greataxe tightly in her hands as if it's some precious treasure, giving you a slight smile as she catches you looking. On the other side Sho'ka walks with your new slave slung over her shoulder, the elf bearing Sho'ka's idle groping of her ass with trademark stoic silence.

While many of your warriors are exciteable and eager to return, you can't shake the feeling that something isn't right here. Your eyes scan the canopy, night time in the jungle is just as noisy as the day, and the strangely vibrant terrain is still something you're getting used to. Still, if feels like you keep spotting something just on the edge of your vision, staying just out of sight.

Vor'zal suddenly appears next to you, the old priest hunched low to the ground, sniffing lightly.

The silence stretches on for minutes, maybe hours. Your warriors start to look edgy and irritable, waiting for something to happen, some starting to mutter quietly among themselves.

Your clanmates slip into their roles like a well-oiled machine, the archers releasing a volley of fire into the trees. You see the snarling elf from before fall back, a heavy arrow tearing through her throat.

A heavy figure slams to the ground behind your group, a massive black cat charging at your warriors, only to meet a wall of spears and blades from the rearguard. The massive thing screeches and roars, clawing at your warriors even as it pushes its body further onto the spears, but in the end it collapses, its hulking shape twisting and shrinking into a naked elven carcass.

“Skinchangers,” Vor'zal snarls.

More of the hulking, primal leopards lope from the darkness or launch themselves from the trees at your warriors with savage abandon, but every time you push them back, four more dying to your pack's blades and spells.

Even with your pack operating so smoothly however, you can see them starting to get worn down, many of the rearguard are injured or have lost weapons to the savage and relentless assault.

“There, the treeline,” you hear Or'kug shout from the front of the group.

The enemy seem to know as well as you do that when you hit the wastes the game is up, and they last meters to the flat treeless expanse of the wastes is the harshest of all. A dozen more of the massive cats slam into your force from all sides, but despite vicious injuries, your warriors somehow come through victorious.

Skinchangers are, as far as you know, people affected by a curse, or the offspring of such people. Most have little control over their bestial transformation, more skilled ones however can change at will or assume intermediate forms between man and beast.

Ashuris looks down at the woman, giving an imperious sneer as she starts her gutteral chant. You see the skinchanger flinch, brow knotting, and Ashuris gives a frustrated hiss.

“Too much beast in it, I work better on less primal minds,” she sighs, making a dismissive gesture as she turns away.

“Fine,” you growl, crouching down next to the bound, injured skinchanger.

“Listen woman. If my warriors see you so much as look like you're thinking of changing, they'll stick you full of a dozen more spears. You want my advice, be a good pet and behave,” you snarl, glaring into the skinchanger's eyes. You don't know if she understood you, but your tone should get the point across well enough.

You have two of your warriors carry her in a net between them, another half-dozen ready with their weapons, keeping a close eye on her.

The rest of the trek back to your camp is uneventful, and thankfully you find the camp in much the same state as you left it. The newest members of your clan are fully set up now, and you take a moment to marvel at what you have built in such a short time as your clanmates come out to greet you, or more likely to get a better look at the new slaves.

You call together your lieutenants, informing them of your plans for the slaves. Tonight it will be time to celebrate, you can give slaves to those who've earned them, and the rest can enjoy the communal slaves while you eat and drink and toast your victory.

For now though you have other things to worry about while your warriors get everything set up. What first?
