Thank you. It took me the entirety of Sunday to craft that cake. You ask tentatively, hesitant to refer to the tuk'ata as a pet. You don't feel right considering an intelligent thinking creature as property considering your past.

Initially it would likely live outside of the Academy, there are plenty of smaller beasts that nest and live nearby that it can feed on as well as a natural water source that the building feeds on that it can drink from. You nod and thank him for the information before motioning for Loric and the tuk'ata to join you and Nivah in a spot close to the ship by the shade. Nivah sits down close to you and her hand slips subtly into yours hidden by your legs from the view of others as you sat. Loric seems a bit lost after you returned from the desert. It seems he did not truly expect to survive.

"So, can you truly teach me Sith?"

Loric seems to break from his trance and looks at you.

"Um, yes... it will take some time, it's a bit tricky but if we do tutoring regularly it shouldn't take more then a month or so to teach you the basics."

Nivah perks up and looks at Loric.

Okay, I don't think I ever really sat down and wrote this part of the puzzle out, which is really my fault. It's true that not every apprentice needs to kill one another off however, there are only so many Sith Lords and Darths who are looking for apprentices at any given time. Some of them may be willing and even actively searching for multiple apprentices to take on at a given time, but there's still only so many spots open as it were. If you don't get picked by a Master then you're pretty much left to search on your own for a willing Master or you wait with the Academy, and that can take a long time because you're competing with other learning apprentices all over again. Needless to say it's a pretty raw deal. This is why there is competition in the first place. There can be more than one per Master, but more then a few and you have a potential problem.

Essentially there are two ways you will improve your powers. One is by using them in the Quest. For example you guys use Force Jump a lot, so it is more powerful and you are more skilled at it thank say Force Hearing. The other way is to focus training it in downtime. The longer the down time the more options you have when it comes to deciding what to improve.

I'm still trying to decide upon a way to document this, and seeing as how we're about to come up on a pretty big downtime bit next thread I'll have it up by then.

You pause then respond.

There's a brief exchange between Loric and the tuk'ata before he turns to you.

"He says he is reconsidering his earlier questioning of your wisdom. This is already much better than living in the middle of the desert. In the mean time he'll live around the entrance whenever you need him."

You nod.

"You may want to consider giving him a name, it might help him understand that you respect him."

You consider this before responding.

You two converse a bit more before parting ways and you decide that it's time for you to shower, because you smell like a rotting carcass. Warm water greets you with it's wonderful embrace, feeling just as good as your first. You adjust yourself and take a look at your reflection. Your hair has grown a bit. Not much, but it's already longer than it's ever been.

It takes little time for you to make your way to the cafeteria, which is notably much less filled than it ordinarily is. Thirteen fewer bodies inhabit the room than there did this morning, eleven of which you assume to be made up of the ambush parties that went after you and Rodrik, and the other two you learn did not return in time and were either killed in the desert or returned too late.
